It’s becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between FOX News and CNN or MSNBC, especially when the topic is guns, especially after a mass shooting.

For at least seven years, FOX News has been citing fake mass-shooting data from the Gun Violence Archive – an anti-gun nonprofit we debunked years ago – in its digital and broadcast news stories. The reason is simple. The GVA inflates body counts, sometimes by more than 1,000%, so its overblown data has become catnip for the legacy media, which is constantly seeking more sensational headlines and news stories.

How does the GVA get its inflated numbers? They created their own definition of a mass shooting, of course. When most Americans hear the term, they picture a madman stalking the halls of a school or a shopping mall, coldly murdering innocent victims. What does not come to mind are rival drug crews shooting it out in Chicago, a deranged husband murdering his entire family, or a law-abiding gun owner acting in self-defense.

Yet for the GVA, anytime four or more people are killed or even slightly wounded with a firearm, it’s labeled a mass shooting. For example, according to the FBI and its more conservative definition, there were 30 mass shootings in 2019. The GVA claims there were 417. Despite the obvious bad math, the legacy media, politicians, and the gun-ban industry treat GVA’s reports as gospel. The Biden-Harris Administration, The New York Times, National Public Radio, USA Today, The Trace, and a host of other outlets all cite GVA’s fictitious data and use its overly broad definition when reporting about mass shootings.

The GVA uses dubious sources to gather its mass-shooting data, too. In a 2021 interview with the Second Amendment Foundation’s Investigative Journalism Project, Mark Bryant, a retired computer analyst, and GVA’s executive director admitted his researchers gather data from law enforcement Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as media accounts, even though the media is notorious for getting the facts wrong after a mass shooting.

Despite these bad sources and bad math, FOX News continues to cite the GVA in their stories, most recently Monday, after a mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky.

Missing attribution

Bryant founded the GVA in 2013, and FOX News began citing them as a news source just a few years later.

The network has never fully disclosed the nature of the anti-gun nonprofit to its viewers, or how it gathers its information. Here is a list of how FOX News has attributed the GVA data in news stories from the past seven years:

  • 2016 – “using information collected by the Gun Violence Archive, a nonpartisan research group.”
  • 2017 – “based on data from the Gun Violence Archive, which catalogs reports of gun violence in the U.S.”
  • 2018 – “according to the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive.”
  • 2019 – “according to data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive (GVA).”
  • 2020 – “according to the Gun Violence Archive.”
  • 2021 – “according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive (GVA).”
  • 2022 – “The Gun Violence Archive defines mass shootings as ones where ‘4 or more [people are] shot or killed, not including the shooter.’”
  • February, 2023 – “according to the non-profit Gun Violence Archive.”
  • March, 2023 – “according to the non-profit Gun Violence Archive.”

No comment

Both Trace Gallagher, FOX News Anchor/Chief Breaking News Correspondent, and Brett Baier, Chief Political Anchor and Executive Editor of Special Report, have cited GVA data recently in news stories.

I reached out to both on Twitter, warning them their credibility was at risk. Neither Gallagher nor Baier responded.

 

Neither Irena Briganti, Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications – of FOX News Media, nor Porter Berry, Executive Vice President, and Editor-in-Chief of FOX News Digital, responded to emails seeking their comments and an explanation as to why the network was pushing flawed and biased data in news stories.

Takeaways

I should disclose I am a regular FOX News viewer. I turn it on in the morning after my computer warms up and it stays on throughout my workday. I check the FOX News website at least hourly, and I cannot miss an episode of Tucker, who fearlessly holds the powerful accountable, or Gutfeld, who is always good for a laugh.

Still, what FOX News is doing is dead wrong. They are aiding and abetting the gun banners by repeatedly citing overblown mass shooting data, which can lead the uninformed into believing that “gun violence” – another term FOX should stop using – is far worse than it really is. FOX is the most-watched cable news network in the country.  Millions of people tune in to its programming. That could be a real game-changer if the network would start telling the truth rather than promulgating debunked lies.

In my humble opinion, FOX should immediately stop citing GVA data and issue a clarification and an apology to its viewers. That’s what’s required journalistically, and it’s also the right thing to do. I hope FOX’s editors and producers take corrective action quickly because America is watching.

It is no secret that Germany has a long and shameful history of left-wing Jew-haters colluding with Jew-hating Muslims.

Berlin has been hit by another disturbing wave of antisemitism as hundreds of Muslim protesters, mainly migrants, chanted “death to Israel” and “death to Jews” in two city neighborhoods with a large Islamic presence, Kreuzberg and Neukölln. The rally was centered on the ongoing controversy at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, where radical Palestinians barricaded themselves in al-Aqsa Mosque in violation of religious compound rules.

Israel’s Ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, slammed the rally, accusing the participants of abusing Germany’s freedoms and “unreservedly” calling for the annihilation of Israel and Jews. In a powerful tweet, he also accused them of “flouting democratic values,” “crossing every possible red line,” and “spitting in the brown [fascist] well from which they drink.”

The rally was captured on video, which shows protesters chanting “Free Palestine” and antisemitic slogans. According to the organization Democ, the protesters also glorified terrorism.

Many Muslims were draped in their Palestinian war scarves (keffiyehs), which many believe to be the modern equivalent of the Nazi swastika while chanting genocidal anti-Jewish Islamic chants. For example, mobs screamed, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free,” this is code for eradicating the State of Israel and its millions of Jews.

The rally has prompted responses from German officials, with Felix Klein, the Federal Commissioner for Combating Antisemitism, and Katharina von Schnurbein, his European counterpart, both condemning the protesters. Von Schnurbein emphasized that hate speech against Jews is “painful and unacceptable” and should be punished.

Experts have criticized Germany’s fight against antisemitism. Henryk M. Broder, a German Jewish expert on antisemitism, lambasted Berlin’s commissioner to combat antisemitism, Samuel Salzborn, for misguided priorities, including his focus on renaming streets originally named after antisemites. Critics argue that Salzborn focused on a low-level priority while the city struggles with Islamic-animated antisemitism and violent Jew-hatred.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center has also urged some German commissioners to resign due to their alleged antisemitic comments. At the same time, Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the center has criticized Berlin’s annual al-Quds Day rally, calling it “antisemitic, not only anti-Israel.” The rally, held nearly every year since 1996, is an Iranian invention designed to create and increase hatred of the Jewish people and their connection to Jerusalem.

Open borders Germany

The violent acts and calls for jihad against Jews in Germany and Europe are a stark reminder of the catastrophic consequences of multiculturalism and mass-Islamic migration. The globalist agenda of open borders, relentlessly promoted by legacy media, has made life increasingly intolerable for European non-Muslim populations.

Former left-wing Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decision to allow almost two million people from some of the most antisemitic countries to immigrate to Germany has had disastrous consequences. The Jewish community is now suffering from a wave of attacks, threats, and murders, and their pleas to stop importing Islamic antisemitism have fallen on deaf ears. Instead, left-wing leaders and their media allies have waged a campaign to silence and prosecute anyone who dares to expose this problem.

It is no secret that Germany has a long and shameful history of left-wing Jew-haters colluding with Jew-hating Muslims. But sadly, Germany has gone to great lengths to whitewash this history from its past.

If Germany fails to reverse the influx of refugees pouring into its country, the security and freedoms of Jews, Christians, women, gays, and non-Muslims will continue to erode. It is time for Germany to acknowledge the failure of multiculturalism and mass-Islamic migration and take urgent steps to protect its citizens from the perils of open borders.

The U.S. government is spending over $5 billion on an effort to speed up the development of new COVID-19 vaccines and treatments, a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson and a Biden administration official said on Monday.

The investment, dubbed “Project NextGen”* and first announced by White House and HHS officials in an interview with the Washington Post, aims to provide better protection from coronaviruses, including the one that causes COVID-19, that might become future threats.

*As a brief aside, this sort of cute nicknaming of every government agenda seems somewhat new. It’s hard to imagine a leader of the yesteryear, like Abraham Lincoln, expending effort to come up with glitzy PR-originated marketing terms, like “Operation Unity” or whatever for the Civil War. He would likely have considered it beneath the dignity of the office. Does semantical engineering like this have the effect of infantilizing the public by assigning catchy, fun titles to nefarious government projects in order to assuage suspicion of them?

President Joe Biden’s administration will spend a minimum of $5 billion in collaborations with the private sector, an approach similar to that of the “Operation Warp Speed” project under former President Donald Trump that accelerated the development and distribution of vaccines in 2020.

These are not “collaborations with the private sector.” They are large-scale transfers of public money into private coffers, gifting pharmaceutical corporations (who pay it forward to politicians and bureaucrats in the form of kickbacks on the back end) with billions in taxpayer money to develop new products. Those firms then monetize the products developed using public funds, giving nothing back to the taxpayer for his investment, and, in fact, price-gouging him in the market. So, they get you both ways.

This is true fascism in the sense that Benito Mussolini meant it: the “merger of corporate and state power.”

The infusion of a $5 billion investment, at minimum, will help catalyze scientific advancement in areas that have large public health benefits for the American people, with the goal of developing safe and effective tools for the American people.

The project, set to be based at HHS, will coordinate across the government and with the private sector on advancing a pipeline of new vaccines and treatments, the HHS spokesperson said. It will cover all phases of development from lab research and clinical trials to delivery.

None of this is necessary for the development of new medical products. The global pharmaceutical industry raked in $1.48 trillion in revenue in 2022. These companies have more than enough money to fund their own research and development. It’s a needless subsidy of one of the most profitable industries in human history.

While the FBI has been sending spies into Catholic churches, hunting for “domestic terrorism,” Old Joe Biden’s laughably named “Justice” Department has just offered what Fox News calls a “sweetheart plea deal” to a woman who claims to be a man and who smashed doors, destroyed a statue of the Virgin Mary, assaulted a church staffer, and sprayed graffiti at a Catholic church in Washington state. There isn’t even the pretense of fairness anymore. The double standard is glaring and obvious.

Fox reported on Wednesday that Merrick Garland’s Justice-for-Leftists department recommended that Maeve Nota, a balanced, well-adjusted woman who claims to be a man and sometimes goes by the name Adam Nota, get no jail time at all for her vandalism spree at St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Wash., last June, not long after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

According to the police report, Nota threw quite a tantrum: “She was crying hysterically, yelling obscenities, & refused to identify herself. At one point, when in the seated position, Nota threw herself to the ground & began rolling down the small grass hill… According to the witness, Nota shouted, ‘F**k you! F**k the church! The church is grooming kids!’ Among the graffiti per police: ‘women haters’ ‘rot in your fake hell’ ‘abusers’ ‘kid f***ers’ ‘we hate women’ ‘kid groomers’ ‘we hate gay people.’” One thing you can say about Leftists: they always pour on the charm. Who could resist this lovely lady’s appeal to reason?

Nota did much more than just scream obscenities. According to Fox, she “smashed two glass doors with rocks,” and “police said he used a backpack full of spray paint cans to smash the police vehicle before turning himself in.” If Jason Rantz of Seattle’s KTTH is correct that Maeve Nota is a woman, Fox should be ashamed of itself for pandering to her mental illness by referring to her as a male. In any case, its report adds, “A church staff member was spray-painted across their face while attempting to chase Nota away.”

Mike Davis of the Article III Project, which is dedicated to defending judges who rule by the Constitution rather than the politics of the moment, noted the alleged Justice Department’s double standard: “It is very clear that the Biden Justice Department has politicized and weaponized the FACE Act to go after pro-life Christians praying outside of abortion clinics like Mark Houck while turning a blind eye to violent felons terrorizing and badly damaging Catholic churches like Maeve Nota.”

Mark Houck is the clearest example of how viciously anti-Christian Catholic Joe’s regime really is. Biden’s appallingly corrupt FBI arrested him in the most terrifying way possible. As PJM’s Paula Bolyard reported, the feds carried out “a SWAT raid on the family home at 7:05 a.m. According to [Houck’s wife] Ryan-Marie’s account, there were 25-30 agents in 15 cars. They surrounded the house with rifles in firing position, and ‘started pounding on the door and yelling for us to open it.’” Houck’s children were screaming in terror.

Davis added, “The Biden Justice Department tried to put Houck in prison for 11 years for defending his son while recommending no jail time for Nota after this deranged trans terrorist badly damaged a Catholic church, fought with the police, assaulted a church employee, and scared the hell out of a little old lady praying.”

And just to emphasize that the action against Houck wasn’t a one-off, the following week, the FBI carried out a similar raid at the home of a 73-year-old pro-life activist, Chester Gallagher. But Maeve Nota did $10,000 in damages to St. Louise Catholic Church, and there was no SWAT raid. Fox reported that “according to filings from early March, Biden’s Justice Department hit Nota with the destruction of religious property, a misdemeanor that can carry up to one year in prison and $100,000 in fines.” However, “a previously unreported plea agreement between the Justice Department, Nota, and his attorney shows that they will recommend no jail time and three years of probation at the time of his sentencing on June 2.”

That’s it. Three years of probation. If Maeve Nota had decided to have her violent fit at an abortion center, she might never breathe free air again. But she had the good judgment to have it at a Catholic church instead. Thus her rage coincides with the regime’s agenda, and she can go on to strike another church on another day. That’s justice in Old Joe Biden’s America.

FBI agents arrested Massachusetts Air National Guardsmen Jack Teixeira at a home in North Dighton, Massachusetts, on Thursday in relation to a trove of classified documents that have been leaked online in recent months. Police vehicles were seen at the Massachusetts location believed to be connected with the guardsman. The guardsman's security clearance and access to classified government systems have been revoked, according to an internal government document reviewed by Fox News. The guardsman worked on military intelligence systems on a full-time basis, Fox News is told.

Remember when leftist harpies screeched that Trump would start World War III? They were only off by one president.

HISTORY-O-RAMA! World War II started in Eastern Europe and Asia, and here we are 70-plus years later looking at a similar situation. 

According to a leaked document dated March 23, 2023, the UK, the United States, and several other European nations have boots on the ground in Ukraine.

What the Leaked Document Tells Us

  • There are roughly 50 British special forces troops in Ukraine.
  • Latvia has 17 troops in Ukraine, France has 15, and the U.S. has 14 elite troops on the ground.
  • The leaked documents do not reveal where the troops are located or in what capacity they are being utilized.

We also know the U.S. has already sent troops to Taiwan as Chinese ships have taken offensive positions around the island nation.

So the U.S. might be secretly fighting a war against a major European power and no one knew about it. Has this happened before? Yes, in the months leading up to World War II.

The U.S. Navy was actively — and secretly — fighting German U-boats well before the two nations declared war on each other. And American fighter pilots called the Flying Tigers voluntarily fought for China against Imperial Japan in 1937 — years before the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor officially brought the United States into the global conflict.

England’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) is claiming the leaked documents are inaccurate and can’t be trusted. “The widely reported leak of alleged classified US information has demonstrated a serious level of inaccuracy,” the MoD declared.

The Pentagon isn’t denying there was a leak of substantive intel (although officials say the documents look as though they’ve been manipulated). Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has defiantly promised to “investigate and turn over every rock until we find the source of this and the extent of it.”

Meanwhile, as in World War II, battle lines are being drawn.

Hungary has penned a deal with Russia for energy. As per the leaked documents, Egypt has quietly been supplying Russia with rockets — allegedly up to 40,000. Egypt denies the accusations, and the United States has claimed it has no evidence of Egyptian rockets being funneled to Russia.

And let’s not forget that China’s lead commie, Xi Jinping, visited Russia last month.

China and Russia secretly met with Iran to discuss supplying the Islamic nation with sanctioned fuel needed for missiles.

China is actively trying to replace the U.S. dollar with China’s yuan, a move that some finance gurus claim could devastate the U.S. economy — which could make paying for WWIII difficult.

What Have We Learned?

If the leaked documents are accurate, we’ve learned what many of us already assumed: Joe Biden has sent troops to Ukraine, in addition to the roughly $100 billion he’s already sent.

Russia and China have been hobnobbing together, and the two nations have held secret meetings with Iran to discuss supplying them with sanctioned missile fuel.

China is trying to cripple the United States economically.

China is surrounding Taiwan with warships.

The United States, the UK, France, and Latvia all have troops in Ukraine. NATO can’t be far behind.

If history teaches us anything, it’s this: all of this activity looks a lot like the beginning of World War III.

Pennsylvania: Restaurant asks waitress to remove hijab, restaurant is inundated with death threats

Michael’s Family Restaurant in Glenside, Pennsylvania has been receiving death threats all day. Hundreds of threatening phone calls have reduced the owner’s mother to tears, and the restaurant is pleading for people to see reason.

This all stems from a manager who sent a waitress home when she would not remove her hijab. Michael’s Family Restaurant has since fired the manager and apologized. But as WTXF reporter Ellen Kolodziej says, that might not be enough, as protesters began to assemble outside the eatery.

Listening to Tameka Beverly, the aunt of the employee, it is not clear if her niece wore the hijab to the job interview.

Her first day she wore it. She showed up for training, she wore it. Then they told my sister she couldn’t wear it when she came back, but she wore it anyway. In no way should anybody be discriminated against and made to feel less and pushed into a corner where they have to remove their hijab.

The combination of a televised hijab crisis involving a restaurant strongly suggests the presence of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Indeed, when WPVI ABC6 read a statement from the restaurant, the station omitted the last sentence.

Michael’s Family Restaurant in Glenside released a statement Saturday:

“Michael’s Family Restaurant has been serving Glenside for over 15 years and have always taken pride in our quality of service, respect for our customers, and the diversity of our employee and customer base.

A video posted online on Friday, April 7, 2023 recorded one of our employees violating the values of our establishment. Our leadership team evaluated facts of the case and we would like our community to know that, effective Friday April 7, 2023 this employee is no longer affiliated with Michael’s Family Restaurant in Glenside.

We thank everyone who reached out to our Restaurant to record their disappointment. We share their sentiments and would like to underline that we value and respect every background that we proudly serve, including our Muslim-American customers. We are saddened that this incident disrupted their peaceful observance of the month of Ramadan. Needless to note, our beloved employee will be able to work here with her khimar should she wish to do so.

Additionally, we commit to meeting with Muslim-American community members to listen to them and also have our staff go through a sensitivity training to ensure an incident like this never repeats.”

The last sentence read:

Jon Stewart spoke with Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks at the 2023 War Horse Symposium. Stewart confronted Hicks about the difficulty of auditing the Defense Department. Stewart alludes to the size of the budget relative to the salaries of Defense Department staffers who are living off of food stamps and not making a living wage. Stewart begins by asking Hicks about the Defense Department's inability to pass an audit for the past 20 years. Hicks explains that the department has been working to improve its auditing process, but that it is a complex task. Stewart then asks Hicks about the salaries of Defense Department staffers. He points out that the department has a budget of over $800 billion, but that many of its employees are living below the poverty line. Hicks acknowledges that this is a problem, and says that the department is working to address it. Stewart concludes by saying that he believes the Defense Department's inability to audit itself is "corruption." He says that the department is not being held accountable for its spending and that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

The U.S. military suffers from a severe accounting deficiency.

Last week, the Department of Defense revealed that it had failed its fifth consecutive audit… 

The Pentagon only managed to account for 39 percent of its $3.5 trillion in assets…

The news came as no surprise to Pentagon watchers. After all, the U.S. military has the distinction of being the only U.S. government agency to have never passed a comprehensive audit.

But what did raise some eyebrows was the fact that DoD made almost no progress in this year’s bookkeeping: Of the 27 areas investigated, only seven earned a clean bill of financial health…

The Pentagon’s most famous recent boondoggle is the F-35 program, which has gone over its original budget by $165 billion to date. But examples of overruns abound: As Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Jack Reed (D-RI) wrote in 2020, the lead vessel for every one of the Navy’s last eight combatant ships came in at least 10 percent over budget, leading to more than $8 billion in additional costs.

Conservatives who want the state to run like a business should be rightfully outraged that the U.S. military, with its $886 billion effective budget request for 2023, expects that it can skate by with five consecutive failed audits and somehow still escape any kind of fiscal reckoning from the institutions of public trust tasked with its oversight.

Jon Stewart recently pressed Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks on this issue. Unforthcoming, defensive, and condescending, she came out looking less than stellar. If her mission was to assuage public concerns over how her bosses put to use the hundreds of billions of dollars with which they are entrusted, she failed.

The entire six-minute clip is worth watching, if for no other reason than to gain a deeper appreciation of the hubris and disdain that bureaucrats like Hicks have for the media and the public that consumes it. No one in a position of authority has reminded them that they are public servants for years, and so naturally they are offended by probing questions about their publicly-funded activities.

New information is being uncovered regarding the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s unprecedented raid of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year. According to America First Legal (AFL), a judicial watchdog, an investigation of the raid confirmed that the FBI gained access to NARA records through a “special access request” made by the Biden White House on behalf of the Department of Justice.

“On August 8, 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted an unprecedented raid of Mar-a-Lago on the ground that potentially classified records existed there. According to press reports, Biden Administration aides were “stunned” to hear of this development,” AFL begins in a press release. “However, new NARA records obtained through America First Legal’s investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Mar-a-Lago raid further confirmed that the FBI obtained access to these records through a ‘special access request’ from the Biden White House on behalf of the Department of Justice (DOJ).”

According to AFL, it appears that “the Biden White House and DOJ coordinated to obtain the Trump records and perhaps create a pretext for the law enforcement raid by way of the ‘special access request.'”

In addition to confirming that the White House was involved in setting up Trump, AFL also proves that the National Archives misled Congress about the role the White House played in the raid.

“This stunning revelation suggests that NARA was misleading Congress about the White House’s role in the shocking raid of President Trump’s home, and the fact that the Biden White House was acting “on behalf of” the DOJ raises significant legal concerns,” explains AFL. “The special access statute authorizes special access requests to an incumbent president only when the records in question are needed for ‘the conduct of current business’ of the White House. Providing documents to the DOJ for purposes of a criminal investigation is not the ‘current business’ of the White House.”

AFL is now urging the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to disclose all records related to the Biden administration’s role in the politically motivated raid of former President Trump’s home.

“The evidence suggests that the ostensibly nonpartisan National Archives and Records Administration misled Congress about the Biden White House’s responsibility for the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s home,” said Reed D. Rubinstein, Senior Counselor and Director of Oversight and Investigations. “The evidence further suggests that Biden officials in the Executive Office of the President and the Department of Justice unlawfully abused their power and then lied about it to the American people. This government, it seems, acknowledges no limits on its power to harass, intimidate, and silence its political opponents.”

“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man!” Joe Biden said at a rally during his presidential campaign in 2019 as he downplayed China’s threat to the United States.

Since he became president, Mr. Biden himself has been out to lunch when it comes to confronting the multipronged military, economic, and diplomatic challenges that China poses to the vital national security interests of the United States.

President Biden, for example, turned the other cheek for several days in February while China’s spy balloon was maneuvering over sensitive military installations across the continental United States before the balloon was finally shot down. The president claimed at the time that the spy balloon was “not a major breach.” He recklessly signaled to America’s number one adversary that invading sovereign U.S. airspace for days to conduct an intelligence operation over several U.S. military installations is no big deal to America’s commander-in-chief.

Contrary to the Biden administration’s assurances that it successfully blocked China from gathering any valuable intelligence, NBC has reported that China’s spy balloon “was able to gather intelligence from several sensitive American military sites,” according to NBC’s sources.

The spy balloon is just one part of the Chinese regime’s increasingly aggressive strategy to test the Biden administration’s resolve, which has proven to be seriously wanting.

Last month, the Chinese regime announced a 7.2 percent increase in its military budget, more than double the rate of increase that President Biden has proposed for his fiscal 2024 defense budget. In particular, President Biden’s defense budget is woefully inadequate in addressing China’s expansion of the size of its naval ship fleet to the point that it already surpasses the size of the U.S. naval ship fleet.

Moreover, as U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, noted last February during remarks he delivered on the Senate floor:

“The Chinese Air Force now flies fifth-generation aircraft armed with air-to-air missiles that outrange our own. The entire People’s Liberation Army conducts advanced and realistic training. And our own top cyber officer, General Paul Nakasone, says the improvement in Chinese cyber capabilities is ‘unlike anything [he has] ever seen.’”

Senator Wicker focused his remarks on the need to beef up U.S. defense assistance to Taiwan. However, beyond just concerns regarding Taiwan, China’s rapid military build-up, coupled with its economic prowess and increasingly confrontational posture towards the West, presents significantly broader geopolitical risks to the U.S. and its allies around the world.

China’s threat to its neighbors in the Indo-Pacific region is a given as the Chinese regime expands its military presence in the South China Sea. Its growing alliances with Russia and Iran are obviously very troublesome. And China is using its economic carrots of expanded infrastructure investments, loans, and trade to lure African countries into its orbit.

Closer to the U.S. homeland, the Chinese Communist regime also has its eyes on Latin America where it is gaining such a strong foothold that it has U.S. military experts worried.

Admiral Craig S. Faller, for example, testified about his concerns before the Senate Armed Services Committee in March 2021 while he was still leading the United States Southern Command. He noted China’s advance toward its goal of “economic dominance” in Latin America while it also seeks “to establish global logistics and basing infrastructure in our hemisphere in order to project and sustain military power at greater distances.” 

“The PRC [People’s Republic of China] continues to increase its self-serving activities,” Admiral Faller said, “to gain global influence and leverage across all domains in the USSOUTHCOM AOR: cyber, space, extractive and energy industries, transportation hubs, roads, infrastructure, telecommunications, legal and illegal fishing, agriculture, and military training – Spanish and Portuguese-language military education modeled after U.S. professional military education. The PRC is also ‘gifting’ security supplies and equipment as a way to gain access and win favor with regional security forces.”

The Biden administration’s attempt to counter China’s growing clout in the region, the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP), has proven to be ineffective compared to China’s successes. And President Biden was humiliated last year when Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the leaders of several other Latin American countries were no-shows at the Summit of the Americas that the U.S. hosted in Los Angeles.

On the diplomatic front, the PRC is running circles around the Biden administration. China managed, for example, to extend its influence in the Middle East by mediating a deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore their diplomatic relations. As Amy Hawthorne, deputy director for research at the Project on Middle East Democracy explained, “China’s prestigious accomplishment vaults it into a new league diplomatically and outshines anything the U.S. has been able to achieve in the region since Biden came to office.”

What President Biden has managed to achieve in the Middle East region is to alienate Saudi Arabia’s leaders. China has exploited the Saudis’ anger, luring a major decades-old ally of the United States to move closer to China’s sphere of influence. China already purchases more than a quarter of Saudi Arabia’s oil exports and “is in active talks with Beijing to price some of its oil sales to China in yuan,” according to a report last year in the Wall Street Journal.

Such a move, the Wall Street Journal article noted, “would dent the U.S. dollar’s dominance of the global petroleum market…If priced in yuan, those sales would boost the standing of China’s currency. The Saudis are also considering including yuan-denominated futures contracts, known as the petroyuan, in the pricing model of Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Aramco.”

The Saudis have also indicated their interest in joining BRICS, an inter-governmental organization whose current members are Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. China, not surprisingly, is the most powerful member of BRICS by far and has a strong interest in expanding BRICS’ membership. In addition to Saudi Arabia, countries such as Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Mexico, and Turkey have expressed an interest in joining.

The BRICS nations see themselves in economic terms as “an alternative model to the G7,” which consists of seven major Western countries – Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Canada, and the United States. 

“Given the West’s overuse of sanctions as an economic weapon, BRICS is establishing its own financial institutions to challenge the likes of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund,” according to an article posted on BRICS information portal. “It is obvious that the wealth and power of BRICS members is increasing, and by admitting new members, the prestige and influence of the bloc will only grow and serve as an economic force for countries seeking independence from Western hegemony. To move this process forward, the New Development Bank was established by BRICS as a counterweight to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.”   

Crude oil is currently priced in U.S. dollars. Purchases and sales of oil are done in U.S. dollars. As Investopedia explained, since the 1970’s “the rise of the petrodollar system…promoted the U.S. dollar’s rise as the world’s reserve currency.” However, this special status for the U.S. dollar is in jeopardy on President Biden’s watch.

China sees its purchases of oil from Saudi Arabia, if payable with yuan rather than dollars, as a means to begin breaking the monopoly of the U.S. dollar as the only acceptable currency for oil purchases. If other OPEC+ members also accept yuan for oil purchases and price their oil in yuan in lieu of dollars, the yuan will over time erode the dollar’s power as the dominant currency for international transactions and global reserves. If China succeeds, the U.S. economy will suffer far worse from inflation and interest rate increases than from even the economic disaster that President Biden’s policies have inflicted on the American people since he took office.

China is amplifying its global economic reach as its economy, the second largest in the world, continues to grow and close the gap with the U.S. economy. The Chinese regime continues to make inroads all over the world with loans and investments that make the recipient countries more and more dependent on China. And President Biden has no answer except to characterize China as a competitor rather than as what it really is – America’s number one adversary.

It is no wonder that China’s model of authoritarian governance looks more and more attractive to countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America as they witness the steep decline of U.S. power and prestige on President Biden’s watch. Meanwhile, the Biden family syndicate has done quite well as a result of its business dealings with Chinese enterprises.

Afghans, brought to the United States by President Joe Biden, directed “racism and sexism” as well as “verbal abuse” at American non-governmental organization (NGO) employees who helped resettle them across the nation, a federal report alleges.

Following the U.S. Armed Forces’ withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, Biden opened a refugee parole pipeline that has resettled more than 86,000 Afghans in American communities — many without having to be screened or interviewed in person beforehand.

To resettle the massive inflow of Afghans, Biden’s State Department contracted with NGOs that use taxpayer money to resettle refugees across American communities for the federal government, including:

Church World Service; Ethiopian Community Development Council; Episcopal Migration Ministries; Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society; International Rescue Committee; Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service; United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants; and World Relief.

A report from the State Department Inspector General (IG) this week reveals that in the midst of their resettlement across the U.S., many Afghans directed racist, sexist, and verbally abusive behavior at NGO workers.

“[Resettlement agencies] also attributed some inappropriate behavior on the part of [Afghan] parolees to the lack of cultural orientation,” the IG report states:

For example, some [resettlement agency] staff reported experiencing racism and sexism from Afghan clients unaccustomed to the norms of U.S. society. Another [resettlement agency] reported that some [Afghan] parolees refused to work with female case managers or case managers from minority groups. [Emphasis added]

One [resettlement agency] reported that a few local offices had issues of verbal abuse from Afghans, mostly those who were upset or frustrated by the process. Many [Afghan] parolees had very high expectations and did not understand the role of local affiliates and would become frustrated with services and housing. [Emphasis added]

In addition, the IG report states that many Afghans brought to the U.S. by the Biden administration needed immediate medical treatment because they suffer “with mental and physical health issues” while others arrived in the U.S. with COVID-19.

Afghans, the IG report alleges, also had unrealistic expectations about the U.S.

For instance, some Afghans reportedly expected the federal government to provide them with “welcome money” when they arrived in the U.S. Others also expected free, luxury housing and were displeased with the actual housing that was provided to them.

Louisville bank shooting: Four killed by 23-year-old gunman, 9 hospitalized

A 23-year-old bank employee armed with a rifle opened fire at his workplace Monday morning, killing four people — including a close friend of the governor — before being shot by police, authorities said. Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel identified the shooter as Connor Sturgeon and said he was shot and killed by police, though not before shooting and wounding two officers, who are both hospitalized. One of those officers is a 26-year-old who just graduated from the police academy on March 31, Gwinn-Villaroel said. That officer was shot in the head and underwent brain surgery on Monday; he remains in critical condition, officials said. She said the gunman was live-streaming the shooting while it happened and police are working to have the stream removed.

According to NBC News, downtown Louisville was the site of multiple casualties on Monday morning as shots rang out and police rushed to the scene. Authorities warned of an “active aggressor” on the loose and advised the public to avoid the area. Early reports are that at least five people are dead and six injured.

“There is an active police situation downtown,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a statement. “Please avoid the area around Slugger Field until further notice.”

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear tweeted that he was on his way to the scene and asked for prayers for those impacted by the shooting. “LMPD has confirmed a shooting situation in downtown Louisville with multiple casualties,” he wrote. “I am headed there now. Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville.”

The incident took place in the heart of Kentucky’s largest city, with police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks flooding Main Street between North Floyd and North Preston Streets. The shooting occurred near Slugger Field, home of the Louisville Bats, a Cincinnati Reds triple-A affiliate.

This mass shooting comes just two weeks after another tragic shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville that claimed the lives of six people, including three young children, at the hands of a woman who identified as transgender.

Last week, a would-be mass shooter was arrested after threatening to shoot up local schools. The suspect was a 19-year-old male who claims to be a female.

According to CNN, there are five confirmed fatalities, and the shooter is also confirmed dead, though the circumstances of the shooter’s death have not yet been released. Shots were exchanged between the shooter and police, and one police officer was reportedly shot.

Indeed, it was just business as usual for the border, although Ortiz didn’t mention the terrorists. It came to light last October that up to that point in 2022, the Border Patrol had caught at least 98 people at the border who are on terror watchlists. There is no indication that they’ve stopped coming since then. Terrorists can see what’s happening at the border as much as anyone else can; why shouldn’t they take advantage of the mess Old Joe has made? And those 98, of course, were just the ones who got caught.

Fox News reported that “the number of migrant encounters at the U.S. southern border climbed to a record more than 227,000 during the month of September and more than 2.3 million for the fiscal year 2022, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.” That data also shows that “there were 20 known or suspected terrorists arrested at the southern border in September, bringing the total terror watchlist arrests at the border for the fiscal year 2022 to 98. The number of terror watchlist arrests at the border for the last five years combined was 26.”

What did Old Joe and his handlers say about this? Nothing, of course, because they weren’t challenged by the sycophantic Leftist propagandists we call “journalists.” And the administration had every reason to stonewall any inquiry, as nothing demonstrated the catastrophe that is the Biden regime’s handling of the border crisis more vividly than the entry of known terrorists into the United States.

The terror risk involved in the open border has long been known. U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported as far back as Feb. 3, 2021, that “Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a group of 11 Iranian citizens who illegally crossed the border into the United States….Yuma Sector agents apprehended eight Iranian nationals in FY2020, compared to just 14 from all other border patrol sectors combined. So far in FY2021, Yuma Sector agents have apprehended 14 nationals from Iran.”

Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.) asserted in March 2021 that “individuals that they have on the watchlist for terrorism are now starting to exploit the southern border. We need to wake up.”

Then in August 2021, former Border Patrol chief Rodney Scott warned that the Southern border was “a national security crisis,” with “TSDBs at a level we have never seen before. That’s a real threat.” In October, he said on Fox News that “we have terrorist threats we can’t get into in this type of a forum but they are real.”

Yes, they are, and they’re entirely Biden’s handlers’ fault. Former Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan said Monday that border agents are “demoralized” with the border “wide open.” He added that “every aspect of our public health, safety, and national security is being jeopardized.” Over 7,000 migrants cross the border every day as it is, and once Title 42, a Trump administration attempt to control the wave of migrants, is ended as Biden’s handlers plan to do next month, that number is expected to jump to 18,000 per day.

Morgan observed that one group that is taking advantage of this is the drug cartels. “They know, because of this administration, our borders are wide open,” Morgan said. “We literally handed over operational control to the cartels. It’s way beyond the millions that have been smuggled in this country.” Not just terrorists, but drug cartels as well. The nightmare never ends.

Make no mistake: this has all been done on purpose. The Biden administration, Morgan added, “opened our borders and intentionally created and facilitated a catastrophic crisis on the southwest border that we’ve never seen in our lifetime.” Why would they do such a thing? You know the answer. Morgan explained: “Their priorities [are] to get as many illegal aliens in this country because – it’s disgusting – but because they see a perceived political benefit.”

The Left seems intent on destroying the country in pursuit of unchallenged political power within it. What kind of a country they’ll be ruling over once it is overrun with migrants and its economic power entirely outsourced or outpaced doesn’t seem to be a question that ever crosses their minds. How they’ll be able to pay for all their new welfare recipients once the American middle class is entirely taxed out of existence is also not a priority consideration for them.

The only thing that matters is gaining and securing political power indefinitely. But this might easily become a Pyrrhic victory.

There’s been an interesting development in the prosecution of the January 6 rioters. A three-judge appeals court has ruled 2-1 that the Justice Department can proceed with several hundred cases where defendants are charged with obstructing an official proceeding — for the time being.

What’s still to be decided is whether or not about 300 rioters acted with “corrupt intent” in invading the Capitol building during an official proceeding. And all three appeals court judges questioned whether the prosecution had interpreted “corrupt intent” on the part of the rioters correctly.

What seems esoteric in nature is actually crucial to the defense of hundreds of January 6 rioters. The “corrupt intent” standard does not apply to those rioters who are also charged with assaulting police. But for those defendants who are charged only with obstructing Congress, how that term is defined could mean liberty or 20 years in prison.

Politico:

At the heart of the conflict is how to measure whether Jan. 6 rioters acted with “corrupt intent,” a central element in the crime of obstructing an official proceeding. The judges noted that the requirement of “corrupt intent” was meant to avoid inadvertently criminalizing traditional protest or lobbying activities that have been a feature of civic engagement throughout American history. Any decision on the meaning of corrupt intent would have to separate those legitimate activities from potential criminal conduct.

But Judge Florence Pan, who wrote the majority opinion, said it was the wrong time to decide that broad question because the three defendants whose cases were before the court were all also charged with assaulting police. There’s little question that those who assaulted police that day acted with “corrupt intent.” But in Jan. 6 obstruction cases that don’t involve assault, determining “corrupt intent” is much more complicated, she said.

“It is more prudent to delay addressing the meaning of ‘corrupt’ intent until that issue is properly presented to the court,” the Biden-appointed judge wrote.

The immediate effect of the ruling was a reversal of a decision by U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols, who determined that obstruction charges were being improperly applied to the January 6 defendants. The appeals court disagreed only because the corrupt intent standard had not been defined.

The stakes for the Justice Department and many January 6 defendants are enormous. In fact, the entire theory the DOJ has been using to prosecute all but a handful of defendants may be blown up by a different interpretation of corrupt intent.

Pan noted that prior cases have defined corrupt intent in multiple ways. The Supreme Court has previously described acting “corruptly” as doing something “wrongful, immoral, depraved, or evil.” The late Justice Antonin Scalia defined “corrupt” acts as those done “to bring about either an unlawful result or a lawful result by some unlawful method, with a hope or expectation of either financial gain or other benefit to oneself or a benefit of another person.”

A second judge, Justin Walker, a Trump appointee, agreed with Pan’s conclusion but adopted a narrower standard for corrupt intent.

“A defendant must intend to obtain a benefit that he knows is unlawful,” Walker concluded.

Defense attorneys for Jan. 6 defendants are already poring over Walker’s analysis. Nicholas Smith, who argued the case on behalf of three Jan. 6 defendants before the appeals court panel in December, said that if Walker’s contention is correct, his narrow definition of “corrupt intent” is already the binding opinion of the court.

This is a problem of the Justice Department’s own making. They wanted to use the obstruction charge as a sword hanging over the head of January 6 rioters to get them to plead down. Facing 20 years in prison, most of the January 6 defendants took their deal.

If hundreds of rioters are freed, DoJ and the Biden administration will be facing a nearly unprecedented backlash. As they say in politics, “very bad optics.”

Hamas-linked CAIR sues Virginia prison for denying Ramadan accommodations to newly converted inmate

The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is yet again fighting for the expansion of the Islamic presence in a prison. It has just “sued the Virginia Department of Corrections and officials at a correctional facility for their refusal to provide Ramadan accommodations to a Muslim inmate.” The prison already provides special accommodations to Muslims on Ramadan, but that isn’t enough for CAIR. They want the rules bent. Prison officials reportedly refuse to accommodate new convert Alexander Crichlow because he converted to Islam after the deadline to sign up for Ramadan accommodations, and given the vigor of new converts, it is very important to CAIR that Crichlow be accommodated expeditiously.

In 2018, CAIR sued Riverside Regional Jail in North Prince George, Virginia, for allowing a Christian space, and filed an injunction demanding “Islamic programming” and “pork-free meals.” The lawsuit filed by CAIR actually called for the dismantling of the Christian “God Pod.” CAIR’s claims had nothing to do with religious rights and everything to do with prioritizing Islam. There is a stark contrast between peaceful Christian “God-pods” and Christian prison fellowships (which have been long established in institutions) and the record of Islam in prisons. Jihad recruitment is rampant in prisons, with little effort to curb it. In 2020, Al Qaeda-trained jihadist Mohamed Ibrahim was sentenced in the Eastern District of Texas for recruiting other inmates to join the Islamic State. Fox ran a report some years ago warning that federal prisons are a “breeding ground” for terrorists, and that “if we continue to downplay the threat, we do so at our own peril.”

Other Islamic organizations also aid the cause of Islamic expansion in jails. The Seerah Foundation proudly proclaims its mission as “spreading Islam and supporting Dawah projects” in prison, and the National Islamic Prison Foundation’s (NIPF) outreach program is also dedicated to converting inmates in America to Islam. The NIPF is heavily funded by Saudi Arabia. Its clerics are “responsible for indoctrinating inmates,” and are “mostly Saudi-trained clerics who preached the tenets of Wahhabism, an extremist form of Islam that is associated with passionately anti-Semitic and anti-Western worldviews.”

The more Islamized prisons become, the more dangerous they will be for infidel inmates. That danger will spread to the general population once these jihadis are released. In February 2022, the UK set a precedent and decided to segregate imprisoned jihad terrorists, as UK prisons had become dubbed “jihadi training camps.” Muslim prison gangs were also reportedly beating prisoners who wouldn’t convert to Islam.

In five American states, one in every five inmates is Muslim. Recently in California, CAIR, and Muslim prisoners also complained about having to give up beards and kufis.

WASHINGTON – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said it sued the Virginia Department of Corrections and officials at a correctional facility for their refusal to provide Ramadan accommodations to a Muslim inmate.

The Green Rock Correctional Center in Chatham has denied accommodations to Alexander Crichlow during the month-long religious observance, CAIR said Monday.

Crichlow, a Muslim who converted to Islam in January, fasts from before dawn until sunset during Ramadan.

Since January, he has repeatedly asked prison officials to provide him with the same Ramadan accommodations as dozens of Muslims at Green Rock, including receiving breakfast before dawn, a double serving of dinner at sunset and permission to gather daily for evening prayers with other Muslims.

“But prison officials reportedly refuse to accommodate Critchlow because he converted to Islam after their arbitrary deadline to sign up for Ramadan accommodations, which fell on Nov. 18, 2022—over four months before Ramadan,” CAIR said in a statement. “According to them, an exception-free statewide policy refuses Ramadan accommodation to any incarceree who converted to Islam after Nov. 18, 2022.”

The group said that “there is nothing difficult about prison officials providing Crichlow exactly what they already provide to dozens of other Muslims.”….

William Whitworth, a 19-year-old male who claims to be female and goes by the name “Lilly,” has been arrested in Colorado Springs, Colo., after threatening various local schools. Whitworth has been charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, as well as criminal mischief, menacing, and more. His case, following so soon after Audrey Hale, a woman claiming to be male, murdered six people at a Christian school in Nashville, once again raises the question: wouldn’t we be better off treating this “transgender” business as mental illness rather than coddling and celebrating people who suffer from these delusions?

KRDO in Colorado Springs reported Thursday that Whitworth made “threats involving schools in Colorado Springs Academy District 20.” This was where he himself went to school between 2014 and 2016; KRDO adds that “they attended both in-person and the district’s Homeschool Academy.” Whitworth did not have an accomplice; KRDO is referring to him as “they” because Whitworth himself apparently prefers to be referred to in the plural; after all, the demons said long ago, “My name is Legion, for we are many” (Mark 5:9). Curiously, however, KRDO begins referring to Whitworth as “she” and “her” later on in its report.

It is a peculiar manifestation of the madness of our age that even as a mentally ill individual plots to act upon his mental illness by murdering people, those who report on this fact still treat his mental illness as if it were perfectly normal and even torture the English language in order to accommodate it. Apparently, no one at KRDO had the vision or wisdom or simple guts to say, “Hey, this trans kid was just planning to kill people, maybe we shouldn’t coddle him and pretend that he’s in his right mind by referring to him according to the pronouns of his delusion and fantasy.” No one would have dared.

Nevertheless, all was clearly not sane or well at the Whitworth household. Police were first called out to visit the Whitworths last Friday, when they received reports that the sister of the reporting party had “threatened to shoot up a school,” had “anger issues,” and had spoken the day before about “school shooting.” When deputies arrived at the house, according to their report, “someone at the door” told them that “someone inside” was “very upset and punched holes inside the walls,” but nonetheless initially refused to let them in. Eventually, they were let in, however, and found “two holes that appeared to be punch marks in the wall,” as well as a door off its hinges. In a bedroom, they encountered the reporting party’s “sister.” It was “Lilly,” that is, William Whitworth.

When the deputies asked Whitworth if he was planning to shoot up a school, he nodded. When they asked him why he would do such a thing, Whitworth replied: “Why does anyone do it?” He was then asked if he planned this massacre at Timberview Middle School, which he had attended, and he nodded again. Asked why he picked that school, he mumbled: “No specific reason.” He added that he also planned shootings at local churches.

The deputies eventually found Whitworth’s manifesto, which he himself dismissed as “schizophrenic rants.” Asked if he was schizophrenic, he answered: “I hope not.” Well, it may not be that, Whitworth, but it’s something and all the people who told you that “transgender people” were beautiful and courageous and stunning and brave and not at all mentally ill share responsibility for bringing you to this point.

Authorities also found floor plans of the school and directions for how to build a detonation device. They also found a copy of The Communist Manifesto (well, well, well), a list of weapons and 3D printer instructions, hit lists, and a list of various public figures, including conservative YouTuber Lauren Southern, whom Whitworth described as “Pathetic,” and Donald Trump, whom Whitworth dismissed as a “Con-mam” (sic). “Bad cops,” said Whitworth, were “useless garbage.”

William “Lilly” Whitworth, in sum, is yet another Leftist “trans” would-be mass murderer in a society whose leaders steadfastly ignore the existence of such people and blame their victims. Old Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, and the rest are virtually certain to ignore Whitworth as well since he doesn’t fit their narrative about how “white supremacists” constitute the greatest terror threat the nation faces today. Or if they pay any attention to him at all, it will be to affirm their solidarity with the “transgender community” and scold patriotic Americans once again for daring not to believe that men can become women. William Whitworth isn’t the only mentally ill person in this scenario.

After Audrey Hale, a woman who thought she was a man, murdered six people at a Christian school in Nashville, Tenn., Leftists hastened to tell us how victimized and marginalized people who are deluded or confused about their gender really are. It would have been easy to get the impression that a Christian had just murdered six “transgender” people rather than the other way around. But no Leftist went as far as Micah Louwagie, the pastor of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D., who preached a sermon on Sunday likening Audrey Hale to no less a figure than Jesus Christ.

In understanding how anyone could make such a comparison, it’s important to note that Micah Louwagie is, like Audrey Hale, a woman who pretends to be a man, so it’s understandable that she would be sympathetic to Hale, but it also provided a fresh indication of the extent to which the Left’s gender madness today is a kind of ersatz religion, in which the people who are deluded into thinking that they are actually members of the opposite sex take the place of Christ as the sacrificial victim who suffers for the sins of others.

Louwagie began by reading an account of the crucifixion of Jesus from the Bible. This was odd, as one would expect that she would have rejected the Bible as homophobic, sexist, patriarchal, Zionist, and a host of other sins against the contemporary Left, but apparently, Pastor Louwagie has a nuanced theology. She then immediately mentioned the Nashville shooting, saying: “Instead of focusing on ways this could’ve been prevented, such as gun control, a significant number of people have turned their attention to the shooter’s identity.” Yes indeed, because the shooter’s identity appears to have been an integral aspect of her motivation, but as far as Micah Louwagie was concerned, that was itself the problem.

“Some folks,” she continued, “have tried to focus on eradicating trans people as a solution, because they have been waiting, just waiting for an opportunity such as this. They’ve been waiting for a reason, any reason to stoke their hatred.” Louwagie was not alone in seizing upon a mass murder by a “trans person” as a pretext for claiming that there was some effort afoot to “eradicate” such people, but her comparison to Jesus was new. Fox News reported Tuesday that Louwagie likened “allies” who “betray” men who think they’re women and women who think they’re men to “Jesus’s disciples who fled when he was arrested.”

Louwagie declared that “marginalized folks, those of us with the least amount of privilege and power, they need those who have more privilege and power than they do to physically place their bodies between them and the people, powers, and institutions that are literally killing them.” This is, of course, ridiculous. The real “marginalized folks” in today’s society are patriotic Americans who don’t believe it’s possible to change one’s gender. The people with the privilege and power are Louwagie’s “trans” friends, such as Dylan Mulvaney, the guy pretending to be a woman who is suddenly getting inundated with endorsement contracts. And Audrey Hale didn’t shield anyone from getting killed by placing her body anywhere; on the contrary, she opened fire on innocent children.

Warming to her theme despite its offensiveness and idiocy, Louwagie went on to “compare the Pharisees’ treatment of Jesus to politicians who make laws against drag shows and transgender players in sports.” She explained, “Those leaders were looking for any excuse, valid or not, to crucify Jesus and they found that reason… It’s baffling to me that someone’s existence can be so threatening, that people decide they need to be controlled, that they need laws made against them, or even worse, that the people that they find so threatening should die.” Remember, the people who died in the case to which she was referring were not “transgender”; they were the victims of a “transgender” person.

“Jesus did not die,” Louwagie declared, “so violence could be perpetuated in God’s name. Jesus did not die for access to guns.” She said nothing about how easier access to guns might have prevented Hale’s massacre altogether, as someone might have been on hand who was armed and could have stopped her as soon as she opened fire.

Oddly enough, no one at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Fargo stood up and decried Louwagie’s sermon as a monstrous example of victim-blaming. But it’s supposed to be a Christian church. Will Micah Louwagie, with her hollowed-out Christianity, be fired now? Unlikely. After all, the place must be pretty woke to begin with: they hired her in the first place. The worst aspect of all this is that they likely didn’t see anything wrong with her sermon at all.
