Nearly $100 billion at minimum has been stolen from COVID-19 relief programs set up to help businesses and people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic, the U.S. Secret Service says.

The estimate is based on Secret Service cases and data from the Labor Department and the Small Business Administration, Roy Dotson, the agency's national pandemic fraud recovery coordinator, revealed in an interview Tuesday. The Secret Service didn't include COVID-19 fraud cases prosecuted by the Justice Department.

While roughly 3% of the $3.4 trillion dispersed, the amount stolen from pandemic benefits programs shows “the sheer size of the pot is enticing to the criminals,” Dotson said.

Most of that figure comes from unemployment fraud. The Labor Department reported about $87 billion in unemployment benefits could have been paid improperly, with a significant portion attributable to fraud.

The Secret Service said it has seized more than $1.2 billion while investigating unemployment insurance and loan fraud and has returned more than $2.3 billion of fraudulently obtained funds by working with financial partners and states to reverse transactions. The Secret Service says it has more than 900 active criminal investigations into pandemic fraud, with cases in every state, and 100 people have been arrested so far.

The Justice Department said last week that its fraud section had prosecuted over 150 defendants in more than 95 criminal cases and had seized over $75 million in cash proceeds derived from fraudulently obtained Paycheck Protection Program funds, as well as numerous real estate properties and luxury items purchased with the proceeds.

One of the best-known programs created through the March 2020 CARES Act, PPP offered low-interest, forgivable loans to small businesses struggling to meet payroll and other expenses during pandemic-related shutdowns.

Law enforcement early in the pandemic focused on fraud related to personal protective equipment, the Secret Service said. Authorities have now prioritized the exploitation of pandemic-related relief because the federal funding through the CARES Act attracted the attention of individuals and organized criminal networks worldwide.

“Can we stop fraud? Will we? No, but I think we can definitely prosecute those that need to be prosecuted and we can do our best to recover as much fraudulent pandemic funds that we can," said Dotson, who is the Secret Service's assistant special agent in charge of the agency’s field office in Jacksonville, Florida.

For years, many constitutional conservatives have been warning fellow conservatives about being taken in by the Convention of States (COS) Project and others calling for a constitutional convention to alter our present Constitution. Warnings that such a convention could result in scrapping the document that created our present constitutional republic have been ridiculed — with convention proponents arguing that they are not wanting an entirely new document, but only want to rein in the federal government.

Here is more cause for concern: A Legal Advisory Board member of COS has co-authored a model “Conservative Constitution” for the Constitution Center’s Constitution Drafting Project as a replacement for our present document, potentially to be adopted at any constitutional convention — or, as advocates prefer to call it, a “Convention of States.”

That board member is Robert P. George, a supposed conservative, whom COS Action President Mark Meckler calls “the foremost conservative constitutional scholar in America.” George occupies an endowed professorship at Princeton, previously held by progressive Woodrow Wilson. (Interestingly enough, while at Princeton, Wilson advocated drastically altering our form of government, to make it more like the British system.) George is a member of the globalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) who “fiercely opposed” the candidacy of Donald Trump in 2016, later calling Trump’s efforts to restrict immigration “unjust.” 

This background should explain why, while George’s draft of a new constitution for America is called the “Conservative Constitution,” the document is actually quite radical in places. 

No doubt supporters of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms will be rightly alarmed at the draft’s language on that subject:

Neither the States nor the United States shall make or enforce any law infringing the right to keep and bear arms of the sort ordinarily used for self-defense and recreational purposes, provided that States and the United States in places subject to its general regulatory authority, may enact and enforce reasonable regulations on the bearing of arms, and the keeping of arms by persons determined, with due process, to be dangerous to themselves or others. [Emphasis added.] 

Those familiar with the rhetoric of the anti-gun Left will quickly recognize that this portion of the draft creates opportunities for federal and state governments to so regulate the private ownership of firearms to render such a right practically null and void.

But the draft goes far beyond essentially gutting the right to keep and bear arms. 

As one reads through the draft, its similarity to the language used by the Founding Fathers is striking. Mixed in with that language, however, are changes that, rather than making the document friendlier to the concepts of limited government and liberty, would create a constitution transferring vast swaths of power to the federal government.

The “Conservative Constitution” would reduce from two to one the number of senators that would represent each state. While returning the election of senators to the respective state legislatures (rather than through a popular vote as required under the 17th Amendment) is a good thing, the draft adds language that is silly at best, and dangerous at worst. “Before taking office, each Senator shall pledge by oath or affirmation to promote the common good and long-term welfare of the nation and not the interests of any party or class.” 

As it stands now, each member of Congress takes an oath to follow the Constitution of the United States, an oath that is routinely ignored by almost all members. We can only speculate how promoting the “common good and long-term welfare of the nation” might be interpreted. Some members might decide that following the restrictions of a written constitution is not for the common good and long-term welfare of the nation.

The draft also modifies the impeachment process, lowering the threshold for conviction from two-thirds to three-fifths. Presently, the grounds for the removal of a president from office are limited to four offenses — treason, bribery, and high crimes or misdemeanors. This draft only says that the House “shall set forth specific grounds in written articles of impeachment.” In the two Trump impeachments, advocates of his removal from office tried to skirt the four constitutional grounds, charging him with the more ambiguous “abuse of power,” which is, of course, not mentioned in the present Constitution. Under the draft’s proposal, Congress would have no limitations on any chosen grounds to remove a president from office.

Not only does the document make it easier for Congress to remove a president from office, but it also makes a dramatic change in how that person is to be elected, specifically requiring a “national popular vote” to choose the president. Thus, the draft proposes to eliminate the Electoral College system that we now use. And, the draft removes the requirement for a president to be a natural-born citizen, changing that to “any” citizen. 

Under the provisions of the proposed “Conservative Constitution,” Congress is given the power to “create a central bank with the authority to issue currency and to make it legal tender for debts,” and to expand the power of that central bank in order to “protect its independence.” The central bank we now have — the Federal Reserve — already possesses immense power, but this draft proposes that a central bank be given even greater “independence” from our elected officials.

Finally, the draft proposes that “there shall be nine judges of the supreme court” — arguably a good thing — who shall hold office for 18 years, with a vacancy occurring every two years by staggering the terms. If a judge were to die, resign, or be removed by impeachment before the end of his term, “a new judge shall be appointed for the duration of the term only.” This is a proposal that has received much support from the Left, angry that President Donald Trump was able to nominate one-third of the present Supreme Court. 

In fairness, there are good provisions included in this draft, but that raises a very serious question. If a provision is worthy of changing the fundamental law of the country, then our present method of amending the Constitution should be sufficient. What we do not want is a wholesale change of our Constitution, which would include the abolition of the Electoral College, the gutting of the right to keep and bear arms, and other such bad provisions. 

The very fact that a Legal Advisory Board member for the Convention of States Project has proposed a new model Constitution should serve as further evidence that an Article V Convention could open up our present Constitution to massive revisions, or even being replaced by an entirely new document. Our present Constitution is not the problem. The problem is that our public officials, in all three branches of government, do not adhere to it. 

Instead of expending energy and money promoting a Convention of States, citizens should focus their efforts on electing good men and women to Congress and the presidency. At best, a convention would meet, adopt a few positive reforms, and adjourn. At worst, the convention would meet and overthrow our present system of government. As the draft demonstrates, it is highly unlikely that we would have a better constitution than the one James Madison, George Washington, and the other Founders crafted back in 1787. As the late Justice Antonin Scalia opined, our century is a poor one in which to write a constitution. Could anyone elected to such a convention today produce a document as good as the one adopted in the 18th century?

This coup d’etat against our republican form of government can be stopped by our state legislators, but citizens informed of the dangers of a constitutional convention absolutely have to let those state legislators know those dangers. 

One cannot presume that they know what is wrong with having a constitutional convention. Even legislators who believe in our form of government can be misled by those intent on destroying our institutions. We must counter the propaganda, such as this coming from the Constitution Center, with accurate information on the dangers of a constitutional convention.

Anti-free speech Leftist activist Heidi Beirich, who formerly worked at the Southern Poverty Law Center to shut down dissidents from the establishment line, and is now continuing her dirty work with a new Leftist hate group called the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, recently said that opposition to mass, unvetted migration “is just a white nationalist argument that America should be for white people, and everybody else is somehow subpar and doesn’t belong.” This unsubstantiated smear heralded the Left’s latest attempt to stigmatize and destroy its opposition, and this time, Big Tech and the United States government are on board with the project.

“The point is to intimidate people and prevent them from articulating these mainstream policy views,” said Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies. He added: “If they can shut us up, they have a good chance of preventing these views from being articulated by politicians and writers. [If] so, they wouldn’t have political effect because even if people agree with you, if no one is talking about those issues and no politicians are running on them, then people’s opinions and views can’t translate into policy.”

That’s the idea. And it isn’t just Beirich and her henchmen: Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed Tuesday that he is working with the social media giants to combat “misinformation,” which all too often recently has come to mean “dissent from the establishment political and media line.” What about the First Amendment? They’re working on ways to get around it.

Brad Stone, senior executive editor for Bloomberg News, asked Mayorkas if he considered “misinformation” a “part of your mandate at DHS, and how much resources are you devoting to fighting misinformation such as election falsehoods or Covid disinformation?”

Mayorkas responded: “I think that’s very much within, uh, our domain, uh, misinformation, uh, pointedly, disinformation has very serious and significant ramifications for homeland security. The integrity of our election system, the security of our election system is a prime example of that. And so, um, our office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans under Rob Silver’s leadership, CISA [Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency] under Jen Easterly’s leadership, uh, John Cohen leading, uh, the office of intelligence and analysis, uh, in an acting capacity, Samantha Winograd, a senior counselor to the Secretary and our Acting Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism, these are individuals very much involved in their respective workforces, very much involved in addressing misinformation, disinformation, and the threats that they pose to the homeland.”

Instead of pressing Mayorkas about how these officials distinguished what was actual misinformation or disinformation from what was claimed to be by hyper-partisans, Stone lobbed Mayorkas a softball: “I, I know you’ve been doin’ this a long time. Personally, do you ever get, um, you know, or – do you ever get upset by just the ubiquity of falsehoods – and myth -- in our public dialogue these days, and, and the ease with which they’re transported across social media and the Internet?

Speaking very slowly and deliberately, Mayorkas answered: “I, um, I do. I, I think that, uh, false narratives present a threat to our security. The propagation of false narratives is something to be condemned. Uh, we need our leaders, uh, to step up and fight against it, yeah, because the words of leaders, you know, they matter quite a bit. They can be very influential in the public discourse. You know, uh, the Department of Homeland Security, our, our work, uh, rests often at the epicenter of the country’s divide, and the country’s divide is something that has security, um, implications, and is also very saddening. You know, last week, uh, I was privileged to attend a memorial service, ahhm, for Bob Dole, uh, one of our nation’s great leaders and great public servants, uh, and, um, heroes. And then – it spoke of a different time. It spoke of a time when, uh, people could disagree on policy and still work together in the service of a country that we all love. And, um, I, and so many others are working to renew that day.”

How is Mayorkas working to bring back those halcyon days of national unity and mutual respect? By restricting our First Amendment freedom of speech rights, of course. Stone asked him: “And when you talk about leaders who should be held to a higher standard, do you include, uh, Silicon Valley and other technology CEOs? Would you like to see private industry do more to combat misinformation?”

Mayorkas was reassuring: “So, um, uh, I think they’re very committed to, to doing so. I had, uh, very robust discussions, uh, with individuals. You know, the how-to-accomplish-it is something that is not easily navigated. We recognize that. Uh, the First Amendment, uh, concerns are extraordinarily important. It’s a founding principle of our country. I think they’re very dedicated to doing so. And I think the how-to and how-we-can-work-together-with-them is not so facile, and I think we’re all working, uh, through it.”

So Mayorkas is working with Big Tech on ways to circumvent the First Amendment in order to counter what they consider to be “misinformation.” They have to circumvent the First Amendment to do this because the First Amendment has no provision for gagging those who spread “misinformation.” It assumes that misinformation will be defeated by the truth on an even playing field, and the idea of self-appointed guardians of the truth censoring what they consider to be falsehood is exactly what the Founding Fathers wanted to avoid by articulating the First Amendment in the first place.

Alejandro Mayorkas is working with the social media behemoths to neutralize the freedom of speech, just as Leftist advocacy groups are calling for. It is striking how often Democrat officials turn out to be enemies of this most fundamental and important of freedoms, while establishment Republicans stand by indifferent as they work to destroy it.

In recent years, the medical profession in America (and around the world) has corrupted much of its mission to promote health by embracing the homosexual and transgender agendas – which bring a range of diseases, medical problems, and psychological issues.

MassResistance first reported on this problem back in 2010 when prominent urologist Dr. Paul Church was dismissed from several major Boston hospitals for simply discussing the known health risks and moral issues of homosexual behavior.

In many hospitals, the fealty to the LGBT movement has become almost cult-like, particularly during June each year – so-called “gay pride” month.

A town where MassResistance fights back!

Lakewood, New Jersey has a large Orthodox Jewish population, and is the home base of our New Jersey MassResistance chapter – one of our most passionate groups!

As we reported in 2019, the minor league professional baseball team in Lakewood decided to have a “gay pride night” at the ballpark in June. Local families were outraged. Our Orthodox Jewish activists worked with local Christian churches and jammed the streets with protesters that night! The team owners got the message.

Also that month, the Lakewood public library had a “Pride month celebration” targeting children. Our Orthodox activists leafletted the area and organized protests outside the library. In addition, local religious schools notified parents that the library was not safe for their children that month. From what we’ve heard, the library has backed off from promoting “pride” since then!

This year: A local hospital complex started a Pride display …

The Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus is the major medical complex in the Lakewood area. It’s located on a busy street just blocks from several Orthodox religious schools and synagogues.

In front of its main building, the hospital posts messages on an electric billboard that faces the oncoming traffic.

This year in June, it began displaying a large “Celebrate Gay Pride” message. Parents bringing their children to school and going to the synagogue were shocked and angered.

Our New Jersey MassResistance chapter leader contacted the local media. Later that day a reporter called the hospital and told them a protest was scheduled to take place at the hospital.

Then the “Pride” message was immediately taken down and did not reappear! Nor were there any other visible signs of “gay pride” at the hospital that month – or since then.

A small victory – but a big deal in that community!

Final thoughts

We say this all the time. A few people who can organize others can make a lot of difference. And often it’s the little things that count in the long run.

(Natural News) Attorney Aaron Siri published a document he discovered suggesting that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is conspiring with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to block imports of ivermectin being sent to American consumers from overseas.

In a tweet, Siri drew attention to a “Notice of FDA Action” letter explaining that the USPS is now illegally spying on packages. If found to contain ivermectin, those packages are being detained and later destroyed if the recipient is unable to prove that the shipment is for some other use besides treating the Tony Fauci Virus (Covid-19).

“A mail shipment addressed to you from a foreign country is being held by the post office at the request of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA),” the letter reads.

Listed below that sentence is a “Summary of Current Status of Individual Lines” showing a box of 200 tablets of Iverheal 12 Ivermectin Tablets USP 12mg, which the USPS detained on 11-09-2021.

“The shipment may also contain other items not listed above,” the letter goes on to read. “This notice does not constitute assurance the products involved comply with provisions of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&CA), Public Health Service Act (PHSA), or other related acts, and does not preclude action should the products later be found violative.”

The FDA wants people to die without ivermectin

The recipient was then told that an “examination” of the package’s contents led the FDA to determine that the drugs “are not in compliance with the requirements of the law.”

“Additionally, FDA has determined that each article is valued at $2500 or less,” it further explains. “Because these drugs are not in compliance with the requirements of the law and are valued at $2500 or less, they are subject to refusal of admission into the United States and are subject to administrative destruction.”

According to the FDA, any use of ivermectin in the age of the Fauci Flu represents “misbranding” and will not be allowed. The only drugs accessible to people now are the “vaccines” from Operation Warp Speed.

“The imported drug does not appear to comply or meet the exemption considerations under the FDA personal importation policy,” the letter adds.

The letter does explain that the recipient can challenge the package’s interception and attempt to retrieve it by making a case in favor of its proper receipt. If this is not done within a certain period of time, then the FDA and the USPS plan to destroy the ivermectin pills. (RELATED: Ivermectin is a powerful weapon against the Chinese Flu, which is why the FDA does not want you to have it).

“While no response is required, if you decide to respond, please submit evidence to overcome the appearance of the violation to my email address (below) and include your name and entry number in the subject heading,” the letter goes on to instruct.

Siri pointed out that the FDA could use its resources much more wisely than this and leave people be to use the interventions they wish to stay safe against Fauci Germs. Instead, the FDA appears to want more people to die by restricting access to ivermectin.

“The FDA could better use its resources to, I don’t know, publicly release the docs submitted by Pfizer to license its mandated liability-free V (vaccine) earlier than 75 years from now!” Siri tweeted, intentionally using “V” to describe the vaccine to avoid being censored on the social media platform.

“So they really ARE murdering us,” someone responded to Siri’s tweet.

Thank you very much, Mike, for that very generous introduction. And yes, I do have to confess that I am a violent extremist, it’s official now. And the serious point about that, as ridiculous as it is, is that, of course, in all these years, in tens of thousands of posts at Jihad Watch, in thousands of articles, in 23 books, I have never called for, approved of, advocated any kind of violent action at all.

And when we had lawyers write to the Global Internet Forum for Counter-Terrorism that Mike mentioned, and say “This is absurd and you have to retract it,” they said, “Oh no, we’re not going to retract it because look, if you go to Jihad Watch, it says “Muslims murder 6 people, Jihadi slit throats.” Well, yes, because we’re reporting on jihad activity. But of course, the suggestion was not that we are condoning this violence, but just that to report on it is violence itself because they said it dehumanizes Muslims.
Now I think, well, if that’s true, then, here again, I’m not the one doing the dehumanizing; the jihadis are. But their idea is that to speak about these things will lead to right-wing violence because it’s an increasingly common theme on the left that when conservatives say something that dissents from the leftist narrative, that’s violence; conservative words equal violence. Meanwhile, genuine violence from groups on the left like Antifa and Black Lives Matter. that’s not violence; that’s patriotic agitation by the spiritual children of those who stormed the Normandy beaches, and this is seriously what is said about Antifa.

And so obviously, the agenda here is very clear. The idea ultimately is to stigmatize, marginalize, silence and criminalize, any speech that dissents from their agenda. And make no mistake, it’s not going to end with me. If they can call me a violent extremist, you’ll be a violent extremist next, until ultimately, the only voices that can be heard in the public square are those on the left. Now, what’s ironic about all this is that it has unfolded at a time when I have been increasingly thinking, well, really I’ve been barking up the wrong tree for 25 years now because, well, I’ll tell you a story.

People tease me sometimes because I don’t generally tend to watch movies that were made after 1948, but I saw a new movie recently. It’s called The Godfather; it’s very good, I recommend it. And in it, if you’ve seen it — I don’t know if you’ve caught it yet because it’s only been out 50-some years. If you’ve seen it, you know that there’s a time when the godfather, Don Corleone, is shot, and then, later on, he has a meeting of all the heads of the mob families. And then as they’re leaving this meeting, he’s talking with the people that he’s with about who had him shot.

And one of them says, “It’s Tattaglia,” who’s one of the rival mob bosses, and he says, “Tattaglia is a pimp. He never could have out-fought Santino. It was Barzini all along.” And I thought it was Barzini all along, that’s the story of my life. I have been, for 25 years, so many years now, alerting about the jihad threat. And now it turns out that the left and the enemies within are a far greater and more imminent threat. And so I feel like I’ve been fighting Tattaglia and it was Barzini all along.
But actually, it all goes together and it has actually long been known that the jihadis never would have been able to advance as far as they have if it weren’t for the help and cooperation they received from the left in the United States and in Western Europe. And this is no accident. The left, as you know, is embarked now, and it’s fully clear, on a sinister totalitarian agenda. And there is no mistake about that.

When Merrick Garland, the Attorney General of the United States, sets the FBI onto school board meetings because the school boards are supposedly being threatened, when actually, there’s nary a single threat that has been uttered against the school boards, it’s just that people have dissented from the critical race theory agenda and the [trans] and all that business agenda that they’re forcing into the public schools, and parents are angry and rightfully so. They go into the school board meetings and they’re angry and now they’re domestic terrorists.
And it’s the same thing with the January 6 business. We’ve seen the videos now, they opened the doors. The Capitol Police opened the doors of the Capitol building. They invited in these people, they’re walking around taking pictures and now they are domestic terrorists. And they’ve been in solitary confinement for months. It’s a national scandal, but it’s very clear what the agenda is. They want to ultimately make it a criminal offense to support the former president and to oppose the agenda of the current regime. That’s what this is all about.

Now, imagine if you were, yourself, a globalist internationalist, socialist authoritarian, like the people who are running the country right now; and you are looking around at the world and you are thinking what we want to do is maximize the benefits for our own little circle of oligarchs and control the public discourse entirely and eliminate all dissent from the society. Now in the realm of religion, where can we find a religion that lends itself to authoritarianism, has no Democratic tradition, and discourages questioning and dissent. Now, what religion might that be?
And so it seems to me to be no accident. As the communists say, “It is no accident, comrade,” that all this has happened; that after 9/11 — 9/11 was the best thing that ever happened to the global jihad movement, because then the Islamic advocacy groups that were already well placed and influential in the United States and in Western Europe, they were able to put forward the narrative that Islamophobia was the big problem.

George W. Bush said it on September 17, 2001; 6 days after 9/11, he stood in a mosque in Washington, D.C. in front of Nihad Awad of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations and [Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi] of the American Muslim Council, who is now serving 23 years in prison for financing Al-Qaeda. And he said, “Islam is peace,” but he not only said, “Islam is peace.” He also expatiated at length on the alleged fact that innocent Muslims were being victimized in the United States in that 6 days after 9/11.
And he said, without any evidence whatsoever — and it turned out not to be true at all — that women wearing hijabs were being harassed and they were having their hijabs pulled off and that innocent people were being threatened. None of it was true, but the bulk of his address on that day was all about how we have to make sure to be nice to Muslims and to understand that they are essentially the real victims of what happened on 9/11.

And that has become American public policy, that Islamophobia is such a big problem that the irrational hatred and fear of innocent Muslims is such a massive problem that we have to make sure that Muslims are represented in government; we have to make sure that our counter-terror efforts do not shade over into Islamophobia, which means essentially we can’t have any counter-terror efforts because we can’t have any that address the ideological roots of the problem because that offends Muslims since it’s all embedded in the religion; and we can’t have any counter-terror efforts that actually confront these influential groups that are already embedded in power in the Washington power structure. So all this — all these years, we have been focused on fighting Islamophobia.
In 2011, as a matter of fact, the Obama administration eliminated all mention of Islam and jihad from counter-terror efforts. And he constructed a program called CVE, Countering Violent Extremism. Now, does that ring a bell, countering violent extremism? What did Mike start out talking about? Who are the violent extremists? Once you remove all mention of Islam and jihad from counter-terror, then you’ve got to find some violent extremists. And they’re not your friends from the Council on American-Islamic Relations and all those guys. So who are they? They’re us.

And so you have the global socialist internationalist authoritarian elites pushing the idea of Islam in the West because Islam — Muhammed, the prophet of Islam, is supposed to have said, “Obey your ruler even if he is an Ethiopian with a head like a raisin.” Yes, that’s a real quote. And the racial — racist aspects of it aside, the idea is that you just do whatever the ruler wants, even if it’s so extravagantly absurd as to have an Ethiopian as the ruler. And the Quran in Chapter 5, verse 101, says, don’t ask questions; asking questions has led some people to lose their faith. So you don’t ask, you just go along, you accept everything.

Now it doesn’t have to sound like the perfect kind of religion that if you are an authoritarian who wants to eliminate political dissent and criminalize it, it’s just the one you want to encourage. And what have they done in the United States? The construction of mosques? The Muslim population, they have skyrocketed in the United States since 2001. And any kind of questioning of the mass migration enterprise and any kind of scrutiny in terms of counter-terror efforts is stigmatized as Islamophobic. So you have it all working together perfectly. You have a massive increase of Muslims in the United States and of course, they want to destabilize and weaken American society, and ultimately, cause its downfall so that an authoritarian state can be instituted; and then they have a population of people who were taught to be docile and accept what the rulers want no matter what.

There was no trouble from the Muslims against the Soviet Union in all those Soviet republics, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, [Kurgistan], you never heard about them fighting against the Soviet Union. They had no trouble accepting authoritarian leadership. And one of those people who was born in Kazakhstan and was educated in Moscow, and who wrote her thesis on Karl Marx’s economic theory has been nominated by Joe Biden to be the Controller of the Currency, which is the position of regulating the banking system in the United States.
And this person, Saule Omarova, has — is on video saying that what they want to work toward is the elimination of private bank accounts; and all the private bank accounts will be closed and all the money will be controlled by the Fed. And then you will just get the money that they think that you are entitled to and no more. Well, that’s obviously how a Marxist system works. And she’s going to be Controller of the Currency, she’s been nominated. Given the state of the Republican party, she has a very good chance of being confirmed.

Meanwhile, there are the Afghan migrants, the refugees. We were told, we have to take care of these Afghan refugees who helped us. They were the interpreters and they helped out the U.S. military while we were in Afghanistan. Okay. So 124,000 Afghans are coming to the United States; they’re either here now, or they’re on their way, 124,000, and that’s just what they’ve admitted to. Now, let me tell you about them. 124,000 Afghans, right before we left Afghanistan, we abandoned the Bagram Air Base. The disaster that was the departure from Afghanistan could have been entirely avoided if we had kept the airbase, and gathered all the people there that we needed to get out, while the military was still there in force and get them out and then get the military out. I’m not a military man, I can figure that out. It’s not rocket science.
But we abandoned Bagram Air Base and there was a prison there full of ISIS and Al-Qaeda guys. And so the Taliban came in not long after and they opened the gates of the prison. Not long after that, you had the long lines at the Kabul Airport of people trying to get out, get onto the American planes. Now, let me ask you, who do you think got on the American planes? Well, you will say, well, the interpreters and the people we knew. No, actually Alejandro Mayorkas, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, has admitted that most of the people who were interpreters and special immigrant visa applicants did not get on those planes. And meanwhile, there’s a big crush to get on the planes.

So imagine if you are ISIS or Al-Qaeda and you are ruthless and you are violent, and you are strong and you were trained as a terrorist, how hard do you think it’s going to be for you to get to the front of the line and get on one of those planes? And if you think that that couldn’t happen, consider this. Congressman Darrell Issa not long ago went over to Camp Al Udeid — the Al Udeid Air Base, excuse me — in Qatar because there is Camp [Sethlia] right near there where a lot of the refugees are being processed before they’re brought to the United States. And they wouldn’t let him into the camp where the refugees are. So in the first place, you got to wonder what’s going on in there, that they don’t want him to see?

But secondly, in the course of his discussions with military officials at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, they told him that 12,000 Afghans had already been brought to the United States from that place, even though they had no ID whatsoever. And so Biden’s administration, they’re telling us, these people are all vetted, you don’t have to worry, they’ve all been vetted. And yet they don’t know who they are. They don’t have any ID. How are you going to vet somebody you don’t even know who it is. The idea is, is that they’re vetting them against known members, lists of known members, of jihad terror groups, but these people don’t have any ID. Of course, there was also an explosion of fake identification papers in Afghanistan toward the end. So we have no idea who these people are and then they’re being brought over here.
And then in the United States, they’ve been walking off the bases. At Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, there are 700 Afghanis who’ve already left. They just walk off and the military officials say, well, we can’t do anything about that, it’s not illegal. We can’t hold them, they’re not prisoners. So they’ve just walked off, nobody knows where they are. They could be out front, probably not, but they could be anywhere. And it’s very likely that some of them are jihadis.

Now, do you think that Biden’s handlers are so abjectly stupid that they did not see this coming and let it happen? I think that’s possible, but I think it’s more likely that they wanted it to happen, that they’re not total idiots, but that this is all part of their agenda because what they want to do is destabilize American society. Jihad terror attacks have the tendency to do that because they terrorize the populous, and then the populous terrorized calls on the government to protect them. And the government will then say, sure, we will protect you, but you’re going to have to give up some of your civil liberties in order to gain that protection. And there we are back again at the leftist agenda.

And so they brought all these Afghan refugees over here. They’re giving them — the stories I see, it’s astonishing. If you keep up with this, it’s amazing. In Kansas City, they’re getting fully-furnished apartments; in Dallas, the fully-furnished apartments come with fully-stocked refrigerators. They’ve got it made. And yet some of these people, it’s very — it’s virtually certain are jihad terrorists. And you may say, well, not all those Afghans are Taliban. Right, some of them are ISIS.

The fact is you’re coming from a society that is a hotbed of jihad activity for many decades now. And you’re also, for that matter, coming from a society where women are inferiors, where women who are not veiled are considered whores, where beating disobedient women is completely taken for granted as acceptable. There have already been Afghan refugees arrested for child abuse, for child sexual abuse, for spousal abuse. What none of the news stories said though was a very unfortunate fact, and that is that probably, I would say virtually certainly, none of these guys who’ve been arrested had any idea they were doing anything wrong because what they’re doing is completely acceptable in Afghan culture and society and it’s all based on Islam.

Islam teaches — Chapter 33 verse 59 of the Quran — if you are a woman who — a woman should veil, so that she is not molested, which the implication then is, if you’re not veiled, you’re fair game. And this is how the Muslim migrants have been behaving in Europe for years now, and how these guys are behaving here. And you have Muhammed with his child bride and he’s the example for all human conduct. So the guy comes here and he sees an attractive child, he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with this. This is what happens in Afghanistan. So there’s going to be tremendous cultural and societal disruption from these refugees as well.

And this is all, I would submit to you, part of the overall leftist plan to destabilize and weaken American society, so that they can achieve the full authoritarian agenda that they have in mind. And so I could — I should close now. Time has drawn to a close. I will stop here, but I can just say that the last two speakers told very ably, spoke about the need for all of us to become activists or to step up our action. At this point, it’s not too late to save the republic, but it’s all coming down to us. And we all have to act and not assume anybody else is going to do it. Thank you very much.

DHS’ Mayorkas Says He’s Working with Social Media Giants to Circumvent Freedom of Speech

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed Tuesday that he is working with the social media giants to combat “misinformation,” which all too often recently has come to mean “dissent from the establishment political and media line.” What about the First Amendment? They’re working on ways to get around it.

Brad Stone, senior executive editor for Bloomberg News, asked Mayorkas if he considered “misinformation” a “part of your mandate at DHS, and how much resources are you devoting to fighting misinformation such as election falsehoods or Covid disinformation?”

Mayorkas responded: “I think that’s very much within, uh, our domain, uh, misinformation, uh, pointedly, disinformation has very serious and significant ramifications for homeland security. The integrity of our election system, the security of our election system is a prime example of that. And so, um, our office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans under Rob Silver’s leadership, CISA [Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency] under Jen Easterly’s leadership, uh, John Cohen leading, uh, the office of intelligence and analysis, uh, in an acting capacity, Samantha Winograd, a senior counselor to the Secretary and our Acting Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism, these are individuals very much involved in their respective workforces, very much involved in addressing misinformation, disinformation, and the threats that they pose to the homeland.”

Instead of pressing Mayorkas about how these officials distinguished what was actual misinformation or disinformation from what was claimed to be by hyper-partisans, Stone lobbed Mayorkas a softball: “I, I know you’ve been doin’ this a long time. Personally, do you ever get, um, you know, or — do you ever get upset by just the ubiquity of falsehoods and misinformation — and myth —- in our public dialogue these days, and, and the ease with which they’re transported across social media and the Internet?

Speaking very slowly and deliberately, Mayorkas answered: “I, um, I do. I, I think that, uh, false narratives present a threat to our security. The propagation of false narratives is something to be condemned. Uh, we need our leaders, uh, to step up and fight against it, yeah, because the words of leaders, you know, they matter quite a bit. They can be very influential in the public discourse. You know, uh, the Department of Homeland Security, our, our work, uh, rests often at the epicenter of the country’s divide, and the country’s divide is something that has security, um, implications, and is also very saddening. You know, last week, uh, I was privileged to attend a memorial service, ahem, for Bob Dole, uh, one of our nation’s great leaders and great public servants, uh, and, um, heroes. And then — it spoke of a different time. It spoke of a time when, uh, people could disagree on policy and still work together in the service of a country that we all love. And, um, I, and so many others are working to renew that day.”

How is Mayorkas working to bring back those halcyon days of national unity and mutual respect? By restricting our First Amendment freedom of speech rights, of course. Stone asked him: “And when you talk about leaders who should be held to a higher standard, do you include, uh, Silicon Valley and other technology CEOs? Would you like to see private industry do more to combat misinformation?”

Mayorkas was reassuring: “So, um, uh, I think they’re very committed to, to doing so. I had, uh, very robust discussions, uh, with individuals. You know, the how-to-accomplish-it is something that is not easily navigated. We recognize that. Uh, the First Amendment, uh, concerns are extraordinarily important. It’s a founding principle of our country. I think they’re very dedicated to doing so. And I think the how-to and how-we-can-work-together-with-them is not so facile, and I think we’re all working, uh, through it.”

So Mayorkas is working with Big Tech on ways to circumvent the First Amendment in order to counter what they consider to be “misinformation.” They have to circumvent the First Amendment to do this because the First Amendment has no provision for gagging those who spread “misinformation.” It assumes that misinformation will be defeated by the truth on an even playing field and the idea of self-appointed guardians of the truth censoring what they consider to be falsehood is exactly what the Founding Fathers wanted to avoid articulating the First Amendment in the first place.

Mayorkas’ words were reminiscent of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s notorious remarks at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2011. Clinton claimed that “in the United States, I will admit, there are people who still feel vulnerable or marginalized as a result of their religious beliefs. And we have seen how the incendiary actions of just a very few people, a handful in a country of nearly 300 million, can create wide ripples of intolerance.” She blamed this on the freedom of speech: “We also understand that, for 235 years, freedom of expression has been a universal right at the core of our democracy.” But she had a solution: “So we are focused on promoting interfaith education and collaboration, enforcing anti-discrimination laws, protecting the rights of all people to worship as they choose, and to use some old-fashioned techniques of peer pressure and shaming so that people don’t feel that they have the support to do what we abhor.”

Clinton recommended using “peer pressure and shaming” to keep people from saying what she didn’t want them to say, and given the Left’s promiscuous use of charges of “racism” and “bigotry” against even the mildest dissenting word, it’s hard not to conclude that her recommendation has been heeded. And now Alejandro Mayorkas is working with the social media behemoths to neutralize the freedom of speech in other ways. It is striking how often Democrat officials turn out to be enemies of this most fundamental and important of freedoms, while establishment Republicans stand by indifferent as they work to destroy it.

Education today has moved so far left that, in many cases, it has even left liberals — in shock. A good example is the parents who’ve made news protesting the racial policies at their children’s ritzy, high-end New York City private schools. What’s more, as education watchers know painfully well, even math and other basic subjects have too often been reduced to a woke joke. In fact, a recent “letter” from a liberal mother attests to this very fact — and it’s eye-opening.

The testimonial was posted in a regional Mensa forum in response to an article by writer Bruce Deitrick Price, who specializes in analyzing our K-12 educational woes. Here it is, as presented Sunday by Price (who edited it slightly for clarity) at American Thinker:

I read your article and couldn’t agree more. I have lived it with my twins for the last 13 years. I nearly cried when we moved from a NYC public school to a school district in an affluent part of NJ only to find out they had the same mind-numbing constructivist Math program (TERC, Everyday Math, etc.).

As someone who loved Math in school, I couldn’t believe how much I hated and was confused by their math homework. There were many tears and much throwing of pencils across the room. At one point, I think around 6th grade, every single one of my son’s friends was being privately tutored. Which made me think the school system shouldn’t really have any bragging rights if their math scores are presentable since they are more a reflection of parents who can afford tutors, not an excellent program.

This issue was apparently raised shortly before we moved here and shot down by the school board. Every time I have raised the issue, I have been told, “Everyone loves it.” Why they are so married to this abysmal program is a mystery to me. I personally think it is an abomination.

I do believe it’s a follow-the-money situation. All that expensive “retraining” of experienced math teachers so they can teach the Egyptian lattice method? And don’t get me started on whole word reading. So ridiculous. I recall being stupefied when we were told not to correct misspellings because that would damage their confidence and that somehow they would magically learn the correct spelling on their own. Seriously?

My twins are now seniors in high school and doing well in spite of, in my opinion, not because of, their horrific foundation. I ended up doing flash cards and phonics at home. I pulled my kids out for one year to homeschool them when I realized my son still couldn’t add after 3rd grade. The idea of kids learning from other kids who are equally clueless is just so insane. And I want my kids to be well educated world citizens. But I did think it was a bit odd when they were studying Africa in 2nd and 3rd grade at their NYC school before they had even learned anything about their own country.

I don’t think this should have anything to do with political leanings. On most issues, I am usually progressive/liberal but would happily align myself with anyone who thinks our educational system needs some common sense injected into it. People need to stop worrying about offending “their side” and speak the truth as they see it. It is the kids who are suffering needlessly and our entire country that will pay the price for a poorly educated populace.

The letter mostly speaks for itself, but a couple of things should be noted. First, having to privately tutor children is a bit like having to hire private security: In many cases, it means the government isn’t doing the job it’s paid to do (via taxes), so the people must essentially pay for the same service twice.

Of course, poor Americans can’t afford to do this, which is why dysfunctional “education” models hurt them most.

Second, the letter-writing mother is correct about money’s corruptive influence. School systems give pedagogical hucksters millions of dollars for the latest shiny baubles — Critical Race Theory, some perversion of math or English instruction, etc. — partially because chronological chauvinists, relativists all, tend to treasure the latest tastes more than Truth.

As for this “nowism,” this fetish for new ideas no matter how fanciful, G.K. Chesterton wrote about its educational impact in 1910 in What’s Wrong With the World. To wit:

The trouble in too many of our modern schools is that the State, being controlled so specially by the few, allows cranks and experiments to go straight to the schoolroom when they have never passed through the Parliament, the public house, the private house, the church, or the marketplace. Obviously, it ought to be the oldest things that are taught to the youngest people; the assured and experienced truths that are put first to the baby. But in a school to-day the baby has to submit to a system that is younger than himself. The flopping infant of four actually has more experience, and has weathered the world longer, than the dogma to which he is made to submit. Many a school boasts of having the last ideas in education, when it has not even the first idea; for the first idea is that even innocence, divine as it is, may learn something from experience.

Does the above at all seem dated?

(Natural News) The National Guard is being deployed to numerous states across America to replace unvaccinated medical workers who were fired from hospitals for refusing Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “vaccines.”

In Indiana, the Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health, the state’s largest hospital system, has requested that National Guard troops take over the posts of medical workers at all facilities except for Riley Children’s Hospital. Hospitalizations in the Hoosier State have reportedly jumped by 47 percent over the past two weeks.

“As COVID cases continue to increase and hospitalization of COVID and non-COVID patients reach all-time highs, the demand, and strain on IU Health’s team members, nurses and providers have never been greater,” IU Health said in a statement to Becker’s Hospital Review.

“To best support our team members and patients, IU Health will leverage all available resources and enlist members of Indiana’s National Guard, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Health, to assist in areas of critical need.”

Teams of six National Guard troops with both clinical and nonclinical members will be deployed to IU Health hospitals in two-week increments.

In Maine, Gov. Janey Mills is supplying about 75 National Guard troops to fill non-clinical support roles, including at the Portland-based Maine Medical Center (MMC).

MMC CMO Dr. Joel Botler issued a statement claiming that his facility “has had no critical care beds available” after more than six operating rooms had to be shut down in addition to six others that had been closed previously due to the system’s jab mandates.

Militarization of American health care is well underway

Over the next few weeks, New Hampshire will be doing much of the same after Gov. Chris Sununu told reporters at a press conference that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is deploying a 24-person team to help out at hospital facilities across the “Live Free or Die” state.

In New York, the new Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that 120 National Guard troops will be deployed to “overburdened” nursing homes, as well as to 32 hospitals that now have limited capacity due to her injection decrees.

“The state defined limited capacity as below 10 percent staffed bed capacity, or as determined by the health department based on regional and healthcare utilization factors,” reported Zero Hedge.

“New daily COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state have climbed 33 percent over the last two weeks, according to data tracked by the New York Times.”

Indiana, Maine, New Hampshire, and New York are just the first four of likely many American states that will be bringing in the troops to handle the onslaught of fully vaccinated patients expected to flood emergency rooms after their “vaccines” take full effect.

“‘They’re not just bad people; they’re criminals’ – Pfizer CEO God-King Albert Bourla, on people who refuse to take his company’s COVID ‘vaccine,'” wrote one Zero Hedge commenter about Bourla the tyrant’s recent statement against health freedom.

Over 15,000 doctors and scientists sign declaration opposing COVID-19 vaccinations for children

(Natural News) More than 15,000 physicians and scientists from all over the world have signed a declaration stating that they are opposed to Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines for children, especially the vaccines made using mRNA technology.

This is according to Dr. Robert W. Malone, the inventor of mRNA technology behind the creation of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

Malone, who has worked for over three decades in vaccine research and development, warned parents that the decision to give their children the dangerous COVID-19 vaccine is “irreversible.” Malone highlighted three main issues with the vaccines, specifically the COVID-19 vaccines based on mRNA technology.

First, Malone said that the mRNA vaccines inject a viral gene into a person’s body. This gene forces the body to create toxic spike proteins that can cause permanent damage to children’s organs, including their immune, reproductive and nervous systems. It can also damage the brain, heart, and blood vessels and cause deadly blood clots.

Second, he said that the mRNA technology is still in its development stage and has not been tested enough. The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines were introduced for wide public consumption less than a year after development began.

Malone pointed out that it takes at least five years of testing and thorough research before a vaccine’s full risks can be properly understood. “Ask yourself if you want your own child to be part of the most radical medical experiment in human history,” said Malone.

Third, Malone said that the main reason politicians and public health officials want children to be vaccinated is based on a lie. When weighing the benefits against the risks of vaccinating children, Malone said there is no tangible benefit for them to get the vaccine.

“Your children represent no danger to their parents or grandparents. It’s actually the opposite. Their immunity, after getting COVID, is critical to save your family, if not the world, from this disease,” he said.

“As a parent and grandparent, my recommendation to you is to resist and fight to protect your children.”

Many parents are concerned about giving their children the COVID-19 vaccine

According to a recent poll conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), most parents still are not confident that the vaccines will provide safety for their children against COVID-19.

The KFF’s survey was conducted between Nov. 8 to 23 and involved 1,196 parents with at least one child under the age of 18.

After an initial wave of vaccinations over the summer due to the government’s mass vaccination program, the number of children and teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 getting vaccinated has significantly gone down. According to the KFF’s survey, only around half of the parents surveyed – 49 percent – reported their adolescents having received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Just one percent of parents of adolescents now say they will get their adolescent vaccinated as soon as they are able. Thirteen percent said they want to wait and see how well the vaccine has affected other teenagers before doing so. Around 30 percent said they will not get their teenager vaccinated.

Parents of younger children, between the ages of five and 11, are even less excited about the vaccine. Only 16 percent said their child has already been vaccinated. Thirteen percent said they will get their young child vaccinated immediately.

Thirty-two percent of parents said they want to wait and see if the vaccine works for other young children first. There are about 25 million adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 and 28 million younger children between the ages of five and 11 in the United States.

Ilhan Omar’s ‘Islamophobia’ Bill Passes Over Objections That It Will Inhibit Opposition to Terrorism

On a party-line 219 to 212 vote, the House on Tuesday passed the Combating International Islamophobia Act, which is co-sponsored by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mogadishu). The bill calls upon the president to appoint a “special envoy” to fight “Islamophobia”; this envoy will head up a State Department that will monitor the phenomenon. Omar’s bill, however, is wrongly focused in all kinds of ways, not least of which is the fact that it will combat efforts to “promote racial hatred” against Muslims, even though Islam is not a race and there are Muslims among people of all races. Meanwhile, the raucous House debate raised other problems with the bill as well, including the likelihood that it will inhibit counterterror efforts.

“The office,” says the Washington Post, “would record instances of Islamophobia, including violence against and harassment of Muslims and vandalism of their mosques, schools, and cemeteries worldwide, in reports created by the State Department.” That’s fine, although it’s striking that there is no similar call for the State Department to create reports about violence against and harassment of Christians and vandalism of their churches, schools, and cemeteries worldwide, or violence against Hindus or any other religious group. Why the special treatment for Muslims? It can’t be because Muslims are uniquely the victims of persecution around the world; Christians are by far the most persecuted religious group.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) noted this, saying: “This word appears nowhere in the federal statutes,” and that the bill “prioritizes the religious persecution of Muslims over the persecution of other religions.”

Of even greater concern, however, is that the new “Islamophobia” office would target “propaganda efforts by state and non-state media ‘to promote racial hatred or incite acts of violence against Muslim people.’” As noted above, Islam is not a race, so “racial hatred” against Muslim people is not even possible. But if the way that the word “Islamophobia” has been used up to now is any indication, what is considered to be propaganda or incitement will be based entirely on subjective criteria, and include even reporting about jihad activity and honest analysis of its motivating ideology.

McCaul noted this as well: “It is so vague and subjective that it could be used against legitimate speech for partisan purposes. Even the term ‘phobia’ [connotes] irrational fear, not discrimination.”

Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pennsylvania) also warned that the bill would be used “to silence dissent and critiques of terrorism.” He added: “By intentionally leaving the definition of ‘Islamophobia’ blank in this bill, the gentlelady and my friends on the other side of the aisle are creating an office in our State Department that will likely spew antisemitic hatred and attack Western ideas throughout the world under the farce of protecting Islam.” Indeed.

Perry is under fire for “baselessly” and “falsely” claiming that “Omar is an associate of terrorists” – or at least that’s how the Washington Post reported it. This, however, is what Perry actually said: “We all agree that nobody should be persecuted based on their faith. We all agree on that. But American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to pay terrorist organizations, organizations that the maker of this bill is affiliated with like the one that’s an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror finance case in the United State of America’s history.”

No one in the establishment media seems to have picked up on it, but Perry here was clearly referring to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is indeed an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case, so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. CAIR’s Hussam Ayloush in 2017 called for the overthrow of the U.S. government. CAIR’s national outreach manager is an open supporter of Hamas.

What’s more, the United Arab Emirates named CAIR a terror organization in 2014. Ilhan Omar has been a featured speaker at CAIR events. So Perry was correct but is predictably being smeared as falsely accusing Omar.

Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) got to the heart of the matter: “This bill brought to the floor today is for one purpose only: to appease the hurt feelings of members who themselves have well-documented backgrounds of anti-American and antisemitic remarks.” Right. No one is talking anymore about Omar’s well-documented anti-Americanism or anti-Semitism. She has successfully played the victim card and shifted the focus of the public debate. We will be seeing a great deal more of this strategy in the near future, and why not? It obviously works.

 

Facebook Makes a Shocking Admission About Its Fact Check Labels in Court Filing

As regular readers of PJ Media know, we’ve been battling Facebook’s fact-checkers for the last few years, especially on topics where there are genuine—and legitimate—differences of opinion. More specifically, the topics of climate change and COVID-19 have triggered numerous fact checks in recent months, not because we’ve gotten the facts wrong, but because Facebook’s fact-checkers put their “experts” up against ours and determined that theirs are right and ours are wrong. The only legitimate authorities on the given topic are the ones the fact-checkers have handpicked—those who agree with their point of view. They did this early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, citing experts who insisted that the virus did not originate in a lab in Wuhan while dismissing all experts who claimed otherwise. When evidence emerged that the virus likely did originate in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Facebook’s fact-checkers stopped flagging articles making that claim, but they never apologized for their mistake or for defaming good people and reliable sites—and for throttling traffic to those sites.

Now, Facebook is admitting what many of us have known to be true for some time: Its fact-check labels are opinions rather than definitive renderings of the facts. In court filings (embedded below) related to a defamation lawsuit by John Stossel, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, claimed that the platform did not defame the veteran journalist because they were merely offering an opinion when labeling his videos about climate change as “partly false.”

Meta insists that Stossel was not defamed because the fact-checks were written by a third-party organization. All Facebook did was affix labels to the videos based on… the articles written by the fact-checkers and the conclusions they reached. As such, the labels themselves merely “constitute protected opinion,” said Meta’s lawyers. [Emphasis added]

Essentially, Facebook is trying to divorce itself from the claims being made by the fact-checkers it relies on, in this, a French climate-alarmism operation called Climate Feedback (operating under the umbrella of Science Feedback), which Stossel said defamed him by attaching disparaging labels to his videos related to the climate change debate.

But according to Meta, “even if Stossel could attribute Climate Feedback’s separate webpages to Meta, the challenged statements on those pages are neither false nor defamatory.”

But Facebook “defamed Stossel, with malice,” the journalist’s attorneys wrote in the initial complaint. “First, they attributed to Stossel a claim he did not make, and which caused his viewers to shun him. Defendants made this false attribution recklessly before they had even reviewed his video. And even after Stossel brought the issue to Defendants’ attention, Defendants refused to correct their speech, and intentionally left the false attribution online for anyone to see, where it remains today.”

“With this lawsuit, Stossel asks the Court to declare that Defendants are not permitted to hide behind the masquerade of a ‘fact-check’ to defame him with impunity and that they must make him whole for the damage they have maliciously caused by their provably false and disparaging statements about his reporting,” the complaint added.

Meta admits that Facebook relies on “independent third-party fact-checkers to identify, rate, and analyze potential misinformation on the Facebook platform” and says the use of “independent” fact-checkers ensures “that Meta does not become the arbiter of truth on its platforms,” according to the filing. “Though Meta identifies potential misinformation for fact-checkers to review and rate, it leaves the ultimate determination whether the information is false or misleading to the fact-checkers. And though Meta has designed its platforms so that fact-checker ratings appear next to content that the fact-checkers have reviewed and rated, it does not contribute to the substance of those ratings.”

Further, Meta claims that just because they’ve contracted with fact-checkers to determine which content is true and which is false, the fact that they independently arrive at their conclusions shields Facebook from responsibility for their claims.

“For an agency relationship to exist between Meta and Climate Feedback or Science Feedback, Meta must have either actually assented to the Feedback entities acting on its behalf or have held them out as authorized to act on Meta’s behalf,” the social-media giant’s lawyers say. “Meta’s public identification of the fact-checkers, including Climate Feedback and Science Feedback, as ‘independent’… without more, defeats any inference that Meta assented to either Feedback entity acting on its behalf.”

As Stossel’s lawyers explain, “The Feedback Defendants contract and work with Facebook to ‘fact-check’ content posted by Facebook users. Facebook commissions the fact-checking and applies content, labels, and other information developed by the fact-checking to the speech of its users.”

Yet we are to believe that the relationship between Facebook and the fact-checkers is merely incidental.

The linguistic gymnastics Facebook uses to hide behind the fact-checkers is breathtaking. Facebook enters into agreements with partisan fact-checking operations like Climate Feedback and relies on their conclusions to determine which content gets seen on its platform and which is either hidden from view or is displayed with warnings like “false” or “partly false.” That Facebook employees are not the ones writing the fact-checks does not absolve the company of guilt when the company wrongly disparages individuals and media outlets with whom they have differences of opinion on complicated policy and scientific debates.

But we’re just trying to make sure people get accurate information, Facebook would have us believe. Yet there are real-world consequences—both financial and in terms of reputation—when a piece of content receives a false rating on the platform. As Facebook admits, “[o]nce a fact-checker rates a piece of information as False, Altered or Partly False, it will appear lower in News Feed, be filtered out of Explore on Instagram, and be featured less prominently in Feed and Stories. This significantly reduces the number of people who see it. We also reject ads with content that has been rated by fact-checkers.”

For Stossel—and for PJ Media as well—such labels result in a loss of revenue when fewer people view the content, and in damage to the reputation of the individual or media outlet that shared the content. It also results in hours upon hours of manpower as our longsuffering social media director attempts to make sense of the fact checks and appeal the decisions—a maddening and often futile process that often come down to the fact-checkers asserting that their experts are better than our experts, so nanny-nanny boo-boo.

Stossel’s lawsuit is an important one—a high-profile veteran journalist is challenging a powerful social media behemoth. Defamation lawsuits are notoriously difficult to win, especially when it’s a media organization that’s being sued. The courts tend to come down on the side of the First Amendment, rightly concluding in most cases that such claims necessarily chill free speech. Facebook claims that they’re not engaging in journalism, that they’re merely running a platform for individual users to post their content. The company cites 230 protections—language in the FCC regulations protecting websites from being sued for content posted by others. The regulations were enacted in the early days of the internet and arguably gave rise to its growth—but they have not been updated since the rise of platforms like Facebook. The fact that the company has given itself broad authority to censor speech it doesn’t like may be enough to convince a judge somewhere that Facebook shouldn’t have such protections and should be treated more like a journalistic outlet—or even a utility company.

YouTube Slaps Age Restriction on Video about Victims of Socialism

YouTube is acting increasingly as a propaganda arm for the political and media elites, censoring content that does not conform to the Leftist agenda. Now it is going even farther, putting restrictions on content that is designed to counteract Leftist indoctrination and inform young people in particular of uncomfortable truths that the Left would prefer they (and you) did not know. On Wednesday, the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), a conservative youth group with chapters on many college and university campuses, revealed that YouTube had put an age restriction on a video of a speech from one of their recent conferences. The offending video was a hard-hitting presentation about the human cost of socialism. It’s easy to see why the elites, as they do their best to railroad us into socialism, would find that threatening.

If there is anything that young people aren’t being taught in today’s woke public schools, it is the devastation that the socialist ideology of Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and the rest of the Democrat party’s key figures has wrought upon the world. And so at YAF’s recent Exposing Communism Seminar, George Harbison, a writer, speaker, and conservative activist, gave a presentation entitled “The Victims of Socialism.”

To be sure, some of Harbison’s presentation is disturbing stuff: images of people suffering in gulags, or being summarily executed, or starving as a result of socialist economic policies. We see piles of the skulls of those who were executed for the cause of social justice, and other images of the abject misery that socialism inflicts upon human society. Harbison, meanwhile, offers a precise, sober, and meticulously documented narration that ties the images together and makes it clear that socialism is not or should not be an attractive political option for anyone today.

That’s not the sort of message YouTube wants the peasants to hear. So shortly after Harbison’s video was uploaded onto the platform, YouTube sent YAF a message: “We have reviewed your content and determined that it may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 18…. We age-restrict content when we don’t think it’s suitable for younger audiences. This means it will not be visible to users who are logged out, are under 18 years of age, or have Restricted Mode enabled.”

Well, of course. We don’t want tender youth learning that the gift-bag of taxpayer-funded goodies that their political heroes are offering them comes with a very serious catch, or that the policies of those heroes have all too often historically led straight to totalitarianism and mass government-sponsored murder. That might make them reluctant to vote for Democrats, and we can’t have that, now, can we?

YAF’s response was trenchant, striking right at the heart of YouTube’s hypocrisy: “YouTube has censored our ‘Victims of Socialism’ video, stating it is not ‘suitable’ for children. Meanwhile, content featuring drag queens and transgenderism is available on-demand to viewers of any age.” YAF spokeswoman Kara Zupkus said that the organization was planning to appeal YouTube’s age restriction, adding: “YouTube’s decision to restrict Young America’s Foundation’s educational video on the dangers of socialism is disturbing. The point of such a powerful video is to awaken the next generation in ensuring that socialism never takes hold in America. High school students will now only be able to access politically correct, censored information that Big Tech deems ‘suitable.’ It is a sad day for free speech and for education in America.”

Yes, we have been having many such days recently. Old Joe Biden, after all, only won the Democrat party’s nomination for the presidency by selling out to the party’s socialist wing. A Gallup poll published Monday showed that only 38% of Americans have a positive view of socialism, but if the political and media establishment, as well as the social media giants, have anything to do with it, that number will soon be much higher. George Harbison and YAF are doing the job that all of America’s public schools ought to be doing. In a sane world, YouTube would be featuring the video of Harbison’s presentation and placing it prominently in the recommended section of any video singing the praises of socialism. Instead, YouTube is doing all it can to make sure that the people who need to see this presentation the most will have no access to it.

Well, it could be worse: YouTube could have banned the video altogether, but from the looks of things, that sort of draconian action is likely in the works as the Left grows progressively more authoritarian. Meanwhile, there’s always Rumble.

UK won’t give info about its Afghan refugees because it wouldn’t be in the ‘public interest’

The UK government either just doesn’t know who is coming into the country from Afghanistan, or it doesn’t want to tell the truth, because the truth would scare people.

Breitbart’s Jack Montgomery’s Freedom of Information Act request to the Home Office asked: “Exactly how many airlifted Afghans were subsequently ‘found to have previously been on ‘no-fly’ or ‘no-entry’ lists’ or to ‘have previously been deported from the United Kingdom.'” But there was no answer. All the British Home Office was able to come up with was that “it knows the answer. But it won’t tell us because ‘after careful consideration’, it has decided it’s not in our interests to disclose it,'” according to Montgomery.

UK taxpayers have suffered enough violence, attacks, Muslim rape gangs, jihad and jihad hate preaching, not to mention the price tag of unvetted immigration and the associated security costs and investigations. But, shhhh. Let’s not discuss it. To talk about it would be  “Islamophobic.”

“Delingpole: UK Home Office Is as Useful as a Chocolate Teapot, Freedom of Info Request Confirms,” by James Delingpole, Breitbart, December 5, 2021:

Some of the thousands of Afghan refugees who have been resettled in the UK since the Allied withdrawal pose a security risk. It could be a few of them or it could be a lot of them but we don’t know how many because, we learn from a Freedom of Information request made by Breitbart’s Jack Montgomery, the Home Office is apparently too embarrassed to tell us, claiming it would not be in “the public interest”.

Wait. What? There are few things, you might imagine, that are more in the public interest than national security. The British, though generally tolerant, are increasingly exhausted by the wave on wave of immigrants arriving both legally and illegally. If Priti Patel’s Home Office is incapable of stopping them coming then at the very least it could try to weed out the ones hell-bent on killing us.

Unfortunately, though, it would appear that even this job is beyond the Home Office’s capabilities.

At least one of these evacuees, we know, had been on Britain’s ‘no-fly’ list — an indication that he was considered a potential threat. Another, a former Afghan special forces commando, was arrested in a dawn raid on a Manchester quarantine hotel.

And those are just the ones we know about. Hence Jack Montgomery’s Freedom of Information Act request to the Home Office asking exactly how many airlifted Afghans were subsequently “found to have previously been on ‘no-fly’ or ‘no-entry’ lists” or to “have previously been deported from the United Kingdom.”

The Home Office admits it knows the answer. But it won’t tell us because “after careful consideration” it has decided it’s not in our interests to disclose it.

Its proffered excuse is the usual mealy-mouthed nonsense we’ve come to expect from the Deep State bureaucracy.

Apparently, giving a straight answer might “provide insight into the operational capabilities of Border Force intelligence-based operations and systems.”

LA School Board Fires Nearly 500 Employees for Not Getting Vaccine

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second-largest school district in the nation, fired 496 employees on Tuesday for not cooperating with the district’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

“Parting ways with individuals who choose not to be vaccinated is an extremely difficult, but necessary decision to ensure the safety of all in our school communities,” interim Superintendent Megan Reilly said in a statement. “We wish everyone the best in their future endeavors and encourage everyone to get vaccinated.”

The school board voted to terminate the unvaccinated employees in a unanimous 7-0 decision. As the Los Angeles Daily News notes, most of those fired were likely on leave since the middle of October, when LAUSD staffers were supposed to have received their first dose. District employees had until a November 15 deadline to take the shot or lose their job.

Per LAUSD, those fired may be eligible to regain employment if they get the vaccine.

Of the 496 employee dismissals, 418 were classified employees who are non-credentialed-but-critical staff that can include positions such as instructional aides, custodians, cafeteria workers, and others.

Traci Schroeder, an employee with the district, pleaded with the board before their final vote Tuesday morning not to go through with the firings.

“I’ve got 24 years and I just want to be back on my school site with the students that I love, with the staff that I love, with the school that hired me,” Schroeder said. “On behalf of all the teachers, please reconsider. There is natural immunity. There’s choice. And there’s no need for such extreme measures.”

There are still approximately 34,000 students who have yet to be vaccinated. They have until the start of the spring semester on January 10 to get vaccinated. Students who do not comply by the deadline will be placed into the district’s independent student program or forced to leave the school district entirely.

A statewide policy requiring students to be vaccinated was announced in October but has yet to take effect. AP notes:

LAUSD is one of several large districts in California to adopt their own rules requiring students to get the COVID-19 vaccination, ahead of a statewide policy that will take effect after federal officials fully approve the immunizations by age group. The state policy, announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom in October, is not expected to go into place before July, but the precise date is still unknown.

Districts including San Diego Unified, Sacramento City Unified, Oakland and West Contra Costa are among those that have deadlines for student vaccine policies scheduled to take effect in early 2022. The policies vary according to district, with some allowing students to opt for weekly testing and others making the shot a requirement for in-person classes.

As The New American reported, the mother of a student at an LAUSD school, Barack Obama Global Prep Academy, claims the school used pizza to bribe her 13-year-old student into receiving two doses of the Pfizer COVID shot without receiving parental consent.

The school allegedly wanted to keep it a secret. “The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, ‘Please don’t say anything. I don’t want to get in trouble,’” Maribel Duarte told NBC Los Angeles on Monday.

LAUSD’s Safe Schools to Safe Steps Incentive Program offers rewards to “families who upload proof of their vaccine, have an approved medical exemption, or have conditional admissions.” Per its website, the winners will receive such prizes as tickets to Disneyland, tickets to music concerts and basketball games, Amazon and grocery gift cards, and a cash prize of $25,000.

Vaccine mandates have become a major point of contention in American politics. Senate Republicans on Wednesday, with the help of Democrats Joe Manchin (W.V.) and Jon Tester (Mass.),successfully passed a motion to nix Joe Bidens’ OSHA rule mandating the coronavirus vaccine for large businesses.

The mandate was temporarily blocked in November by the New Orleans-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which called the order “fatally flawed.”

Meanwhile, some states have taken the initiative on their own to halt mandates. Last month, Florida enacted a package of legislation that prevents private-sector workers from being required to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they provide medical reasons or religious reasons or could demonstrate natural immunity to the virus.

(Natural News) A former employee at United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) in New York has come forward with claims that she was instructed to lie about Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccine” injuries in the emergency room.

Deborah Conrad, a physician assistant, told “The Sharyl Attkisson Podcast” that upon observing a flood of Fauci Flu shot adverse effects at the ER where she worked, higher-ups told her not to report them to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System), the official government vaccine injury database.

Conrad had worked at UMMC for 17 years prior and never experienced anything like this, at least not that she talked about with Attkisson.

Among the jab side effects Conrad witnessed, but was not allowed to report on, were “heart attacks, cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias of the heart, blood clots, [and] pulmonary emboli.”

This flood of vaccine-injured patients started occurring in January and February right after the initial wave of Americans took the shots as part of Operation Warp Speed.

Early on, Conrad says she saw “just a few patients” with these symptoms. She immediately reported them to VAERS. Once a whole lot more people started coming in, however, Conrad got concerned.

She proceeded to notify her “administrative leaders of what was going on,” only to be told back by a female superior that she “didn’t really feel there was a whole lot to worry about.”

Eventually, “the emergency room started catching on” to what was going on, and Conrad’s colleagues started “giving [her] patients to report.”

When Conrad approached UMMC’s administration a second time, they were harsher with her, accusing her of “overreporting” on things that had nothing to do with the injections, she was told.

Rather than tell the truth, Conrad’s bosses wanted her to lie in order to “support the vaccine effort”

While it is certainly possible that not all of the patients Conrad saw were damaged by the injections, it should be noted that VAERS only captures a tiny fraction of all vaccine injuries, to begin with.

A 2010 study, in fact, found that “fewer than 1% of vaccine injuries” ever even make it into VAERS. So if anything, Conrad’s observations were underreported, and her superiors were complicit in the coverup. (RELATED: The American Medical Association (AMA) is also complicit in training doctors how to lie about vaccine-related injuries and deaths.)

Attkisson has been investigating this kind of thing for many years, by the way. She used to work at CBS News, only to later depart from her position thereafter discovering many “cover-ups” concerning the revolving-door relationship between the government and the pharmaceutical industry.

Being one of the few in media these days with an actual conscience, Attkisson started her own thing and now brings to light stories like the one told by Conrad, which blow the lid on Big Pharma and Big Medicine criminality.

As for Conrad, she discovered the same criminality on the job at her workplace, where leadership “absolutely refused to do any reporting” about covid injection injuries and deaths.

Instead, Conrad was told that no matter what she was observing about the jabs causing harm, she must “support the vaccine effort” in order to get “vaccines in every arm.”

Conrad says she was also continually indoctrinated with the lie that all vaccines are “100 percent safe and effective,” which is obviously not true.

“That’s just … ridiculous,” Conrad told Attkisson. “Because nothing is 100 percent safe and effective.”

What ultimately happened is that Conrad was fired from her job for creating an “atmosphere” that was “uncomfortable” for her bosses, which were determined to toe the pro-jab line.

Physician Assistant Deborah Conrad had the hospital where she works to track the patients admitted and their COVID-19 vaccination status. The hospital is United Memorial Medical Center, within the Rochester Regional Health System in New York.

Conrad’s community reportedly has a less than 50% COVID-19 vaccination rate. Even so, the rate for hospital admissions was approximately 90% vaccinated.

Aaron Siri, Conrad’s attorney, sent a letter to the CDC and FDA on July 19. The letter stated, “These patients were admitted for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to COVID-19 infections. Even more troubling is that there were many individuals who were young, many who presented with unusual or unexpected health events, and many who were admitted months after vaccination.”Conrad said she contacted the health authorities to report the cases, but the CDC and FDA ignored her. Additionally, doctors approached Conrad to report instances of adverse vaccine reactions, and Conrad volunteered to file such reports with VAERS. Siri said, “In response, the Hospital told Ms. Conrad they were going to audit the VAERS reports that Ms. Conrad submitted because, ‘in [her] clinical role and as a leader in the organization,’ she was to ‘support [the Hospital’s] approach to the vaccine,’ and submitting reports to VAERS apparently is contrary to its’ approach to the vaccine.’” Employees are mandated by law to report “certain medical events arising after vaccination to VAERS.” Fewer than one percent of instances, however, are in fact reported, Siri pointed out. “As explained before,” the letter continued, “unless and until under-reporting to VAERS is addressed, underreporting to a passive signal detection system will continue to blind health agencies, medical professionals, and patients from what is really occurring in the clinic and will render true informed consent impossible. With the drive to vaccinate every single American with COVID-19 vaccines, the safety of all Americans, literally, depends on this broken system. Fix it.”

Siri’s letter has thus far been ignored.
