Fox News intensified its spiral into irrelevance on Monday when it fired Tucker Carlson, the top-rated host on network television and a key figure of the resistance against the Leftist political and media establishment. On Wednesday, Carlson released a video explaining what happened. Without naming Fox, he explained what could possibly lead what is supposed to be a profit-making enterprise to cut off its chief source of profits.

Carlson began on an encouraging note: “One of the first things you realize, when you step outside the noise for a few days, is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country. Kind and decent people—people who really care about what’s true. And a bunch of hilarious people, also. A lot of those. It’s gotta be the majority of the population, even now. So that’s heartening.” Carlson didn’t say it directly, but this seemed to suggest that there are a lot of people out there who don’t buy the Left’s increasingly nonsensical view of the world and refuse to be intimidated into silence. That would be heartening indeed.

That said, Carlson noted that the really important things that are happening in the U.S. today are going virtually unnoticed and undiscussed amid a general fascination with minutiae and trivia: “The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are. They’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them. Trust me, as someone who has participated. And then at the same time, and this is the amazing thing, the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all. War. Civil liberties. Emerging science. Demographic change. Corporate power. Natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues? It’s been a long time. Debates like that are not permitted in American media.”

Indeed they aren’t, and yet the country is being transformed before our eyes, with most people still not realizing exactly what is happening. Carlson suggested that this was by design: “Both political parties, and their donors, have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it. Suddenly, the United States looks very much like a one-party state. That’s a depressing realization, but it’s not permanent. Our current orthodoxies won’t last. They’re brain-dead. Nobody actually believes them. Hardly anyone’s life is improved by them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue. And so it won’t.”

Carlson still hadn’t mentioned Fox or his firing, but this was coming close. “Suddenly, the United States looks very much like a one-party state” carried the implication that Fox was falling into line with the rest of the establishment media, and silencing voices that spoke about the deeper and more important issues the nation faces today. As Carlson continued, this implication became stronger: “The people in charge know this; that’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion. They’re resorting to force. But it won’t work. When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars, who have been trying to silence them, shrink and they become weaker. That’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are some. And that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. See you soon.”

Fox has indeed begun to shrink and become weaker. Fox lost $800 million in market value after firing Carlson. If it continues to drift into becoming a pale copy of CNN or MSNBC, it will continue to hemorrhage viewers. Carlson, meanwhile, is being inundated with offers and will certainly make good on his promise to “see you soon.” While his firing at Fox was a setback for patriots and a victory for the Left, as he himself emphasized in his statement, the game isn’t over. The firing itself appears to have backfired. Carlson’s firing has awakened numerous people who were previously unaware of how much the media endeavors to control what we see and hear so that we only think that thoughts that they consider permissible.

Tucker Carlson has been fighting against that effort for years and will continue to do so. Fox, on the other hand, if it becomes just another establishment voice, will fade into oblivion.

NJ teacher fired over false ‘Islamophobia’ claims sues Hamas-linked CAIR, says they ‘don’t care about the truth’

The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows a reckless disregard for truth and for the well-being of anyone it can use to buttress its “Islamophobia” narrative.

Ibtihaj Muhammad made history as the first hijab-clad athlete on the U.S. Olympic team. The bronze medal winning fencer from the 2016 summer games was featured on magazine covers, spawned a line of sportswear and even a Barbie doll.

But in court papers filed late Tuesday, a New Jersey elementary school teacher says Muhammad deserves a different reputation: Liar.

In October 2021 social media posts, Muhammad accused veteran schoolteacher Tamar Herman of abusing a 7-year-old Muslim student by “forcibly” pulling off her hijab as “the young student resisted.” After exposing the girl’s hair to the class, Herman then told her that “her hair was beautiful and she did not have to wear hijab to school anymore,” Muhammad wrote.

Herman insists that didn’t happen and contacted Muhammad to offer her side of the story. But when Herman, who had Muhammad’s cell phone number, texted to say her post was “completely false and terribly damaging,” Muhammad ignored her. Now, Muhammad says she had no idea who Herman was.

Muhammad’s claims, filed last month, “are outright falsehoods,” Herman says. And they are “further evidence [of] her actual malice, i.e. reckless disregard for the truth.”

CAIR Blows Up Incident into National Story

The issue generated national attention when the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its New Jersey chapter called for Herman’s firing.

“Our children must be protected from anti-Muslim bigotry and abuse at school,” CAIR’s national office wrote. “The teacher who pulled a second grader’s hijab off in class must be fired immediately.”

“Anything less,” CAIR’s New Jersey chapter added, “is an insult to the students and parents…”

School administrators were overwhelmed by the public response. IPT has seen dozens of social media posts that not only called for Herman’s firing but threatened her safety as well.

Herman hasn’t been allowed back in the classroom since.

Last October, she filed suit in federal court against the South Orange Maplewood school district and a consultant it worked with for their roles in a “malicious and antisemitic campaign” and for violating her due process rights. She also sued Muhammad, CAIR, its New Jersey chapter and its director, Selaedin Maksut, in state court alleging defamation. CAIR moved to dismiss the case in February, saying their statements largely were accurate and, therefore, not defamatory. Muhammad and Maksut embraced CAIR’s filing.

In her response filed Tuesday, Herman argues that none of the parties made any effort to determine if the accusation was true.

“Muhammad, despite her claims to the contrary in support of her motions, knew Herman well and had the ability and opportunity to communicate with Herman about the allegations, yet inexplicably declined to do so,” attorney Erick Dykema writes. “Maksut, CAIR, and CAIR NJ, for their part, clearly didn’t care about the truth—they simply parroted Muhammad’s false accusations without any concern for their accuracy.”

It is too soon for the court to consider the defense motions, Dykema writes. The basic facts are in dispute, and no discovery has taken place which would help determine what is true.

Herman has been teaching for 30 years “with a stellar reputation.”

She insists the entire episode was a misunderstanding. The 7-year-old girl normally wore a form-fitting hijab to class, but on the day in question, she had on a sweatshirt, with the hood covering her eyes during a lesson. Herman asked the girl to pull it back, thinking the hijab was underneath. But when the girl didn’t respond, Herman says she gently brushed the hood back.

When she saw no hijab, Herman says she quickly pulled the hood back into place, covering the child’s hair, and apologized.

Herman would have told this account to Muhammad or CAIR. But she never was given the chance.

“The evidence of actual malice—reckless disregard for the truth—is overwhelming,” Dykema writes. “… Muhammad based her social media posts on a thirdhand account of events emanating from a most unreliable source, that being a young child.”

Raw Antisemitism

The girl’s parents, Cassandra and Joseph Wyatt, each have made antisemitic statements about Herman and the incident involving their daughter.

Jews “monopolize a lot of stuff for money,” Joseph Wyatt told the Washington Post. “The Jews — the Semitics — they run Hollywood. They run a lot of stuff. It’s all Jewish names.”

Whatever happened between his daughter and Tamar Herman was about religion, “no doubt,” he said. “There’s always been a conflict with the Muslims and the Jews … That’s why they are fighting in Palestine.”

The teacher may say it was a mistake, he said, but “it was no mistake to her.”

The child’s mother, Cassandra Wyatt, has changed her story and made her own social media posts admitting that her reaction changed once she learned Herman is Jewish. According to Herman’s lawsuit, the girl’s mother initially told the principal that she understood the incident was a misunderstanding. But she quickly changed tone upon learning Herman is Jewish.

For all of CAIR’s public claims to stand against antisemitism, as we have noted, the fact that it has not said a word about the Wyatts’ demonstrable antisemitism speaks volumes about CAIR’s true views on Jews….

The good little Maoist conformists of the Easthampton Public School District in Western Massachusetts dodged a bullet Thursday: they had very nearly hired a wrong thinker, an unenlightened, non-woke individual who was even a cis white male as their new superintendent. But just in time, the school district was saved: the sinister candidate committed an offense against all that is good and holy, and the job offer that had been extended to him was summarily rescinded. The errant near-superintendent’s crime? He called a couple of women “ladies.”

I apologize for not affixing a trigger warning to the immediate beginning of this article. I realize that you likely read that unguardedly, unaware of the enormity of the offense that had been committed. If you need counseling now, I certainly understand. It isn’t every day that one comes across such a flagrant crime against decency as this one, and the shock is indeed severe. The Daily Hampshire Gazette, a paper that publishes out of Northampton, Mass., reported Saturday that a man named Vito Perrone was a finalist for the job of superintendent and indeed, had actually been offered the job before he committed the unpardonable offense that led to the job offer being withdrawn.

Perrone “said Friday that the School Committee rescinded its offer to hire him in executive session Thursday night, alleging that the reason was a perceived microaggression contained in an email he sent to the committee chairperson.” The process of his hiring was so far along that he had already entered into salary negotiations with the district, “after he was offered the position the morning of March 24.” The Easthampton School Committee “offered Perrone a three-year contract with an annual salary of $151,000 — approximately $14,000 less than what he has made [sic] as an interim superintendent of West Springfield Public Schools.” Yet “despite the lower salary, he said he was keen on accepting the role.” He seemed like a good catch for Easthampton. But then he sent the fateful email.

Perrone recounted: “This job was not about the money for me. I honestly felt like I was coming home to Easthampton. I coached football here. I was the principal here when we built the school. I have such wonderful memories … I was excited to come back.” But as the contract negotiations went on, Perrone sent an email to School Committee Chairperson Cynthia Kwiecinski and the committee’s executive assistant, Suzanne Colby. In it, he addressed Kwiecinski and Colby as “ladies,” and all hell broke loose.

Kwiecinski, according to Perrone, charged that his use of the word “ladies” constituted a “microaggression,” and he should have known better. His clumsy word choice demonstrated his dangerous ignorance: “The fact that he didn’t know that as an educator was a problem.” Understandably, Perrone was dumbfounded at this woke lunacy: “I was shocked. I grew up in a time when ‘ladies’ and ‘gentlemen’ was a sign of respect. I didn’t intend to insult anyone.” But that’s how authoritarian societies work: you never quite know the rules, which are constantly changing anyway. That way the citizen is always living in fear and always on his toes, extra careful not to offend the elites, who could strike against him without warning at any time. A fearful populace is a compliant populace.

Kwiecinski has remained resolutely mum about this entire ridiculous (and ominous) incident, but Perrone thought it was important to clear the air: “I don’t want people to think I was not willing to negotiate in good faith. I have chosen not to just leave it as ‘negotiations stalled.’ I would rather share my truth, my sadness, and disappointment and try to find a way forward positively.”

While his disappointment is understandable, it’s really Perrone, and not the Easthampton Public School District, who has dodged the bullet here. Imagine having to work on a day-to-day basis with these woke harridans. It would be like living Kafka’s The Trial, in which the protagonist is charged with a crime but never told exactly what he is accused of having done. “Honestly,” Perrone reiterated, “I am truly, truly disappointed that I won’t be in Easthampton in that building. I’m just sad.” He should be dancing a jig, were it not for the fact that pretty much anywhere that he does ultimately get a job is likely to present him with the same humorless, censorious, and unforgiving Leftist environment.

The United States Air Force is looking to hire people for several diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) positions, offering a minimum salary of $82,830, but as much as $183,500 annually for the top position.

The jobs, which are posted at USAJobs.gov, are located in Alabama, Alaska, and Virginia. But don’t think that means you have to relocate if you want to brainwash America’s military with DEI, which is basically a euphemism for the racist principles of critical race theory. All these positions are telework-eligible, though occasional travel may be required.

The highest-paying role, identified by the military service branch as a first-level supervisor for “diversity equity inclusion and accessibility” efforts, has a starting salary of $155,700, reports Just The News. The primary duty of the position is to strategize, organize, and oversee the activities of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion within the branch to guarantee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for “diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility education and training, and strategic outreach and engagement complies with legal and regulatory requirements.”

I’m sure our enemies will be really intimidated by our military now.

All diversity positions are accessible to current or previous federal employees, veterans, military spouses, and individuals with disabilities, among other eligible candidates.

Flashback: Marine Corps Disgraces Itself With Pride Month Pandering

The military has come under significant scrutiny in recent years for prioritizing “wokeness” over military readiness. According to a recent report, the U.S. Air Force hosted 67 pride celebrations in 2022.

“Among those events, top Air Force leaders participated in the first service-wide LGBTQ+ Pride event organized by a new volunteer team within the Air Force focused on LGBTQ+ issues, the newsletter, dated Feb. 10, shows,” the Daily Caller reported last month. “The LGBTQ Initiatives Team (LIT) participated in 67 Pride commemorations across 33 Air Force and Space Force installations throughout 2022 and intends to organize more events this year.”

According to the report, there are also several  “Air Force Barrier Analysis Working Groups” dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Air Force, including the LGBTQ Initiatives Team, the Black and African American Employment Strategy Team, the Disability Action Team, the Women’s Initiative Team, and more.

The military’s increased prioritization of promoting social justice issues is alarming. The primary duty of the military is to protect our country—not host pride events and post concepts that divide people based on race under the guise of promoting “diversity” and “inclusion.” Our nation deserves better than this. Our enemies will look at what we’re doing and realize we no longer have the strong military we used to.

Biden Raises Taxes for Americans, Raises Pay for Bureaucrats

“I want to make it clear, I’m gonna raise some taxes,” Biden threatened Americans last week.

While Biden claimed that the taxes were targeted at the “billionaires out there”, the proposed tax hikes in his new budget are going to hit millions of Americans, not just the 700 or so billionaires.

During the election, Biden had already warned those who favored Trump’s tax cuts, “If you elect me, your taxes are going to be raised, not cut.” At least that’s one promise he’s keeping.

After insane spending sprees, Biden claims that tax cuts are needed to cut the deficit and save Medicare. Meanwhile, he’s proposing to give government bureaucrats their biggest raise since the Carter administration.

From the Inflation Increase Act, which massively boosted the size of the IRS, which is now pursuing waiters for their tips and targeting people who sell used clothes on eBay, the Biden administration has focused on building up the federal bureaucracy at the expense of Americans.

Biden’s budget calls for a 5.2% raise for federal employees, the biggest pay hike in 43 years, ever since his inflationary predecessor, Jimmy Carter, who became a one-term president in part for prioritizing the federal bureaucracy over the misery being suffered by American families.

The administration had already dispensed a federal pay raise of 4.4% to 5.2% last year, the highest in over 20 years, now it’s trying to match the legacy of the Carter administration.

In 2017, Trump kept the pay increase down to 1.9% while federal unions had demanded 3.2%. Now Biden is offering a 5.2% pay hike while the unions are demanding 8.7%.

Average federal wages are already at almost $100,000 and will pass that with Biden’s raise. That’s much higher than the average private sector salary. With average total compensation, those numbers shoot up stratospherically to $143,643 for federal employees.

Biden’s historic pay hike comes as many federal workers aren’t even working. House Republicans passed the SHOW UP Act last month requiring them to come to work. Nearly every House Democrat voted against it and Senate Democrats have refused to even consider the bill.

Instead, the Biden administration has made it easier for the feds to do or not do Zoom work.

Over two-thirds of federal workers were doing some remote work last year. During the pandemic, those numbers were as high as 90% for the most useless parts of the government like the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, the EPA, HHS, HUD, and USAID.

25% of Department of Health and Human Services personnel didn’t even bother logging in. One report found that “on any given day from March-December 2020, between 20-30 percent of HHS employees did not appear to be working”. Sure, give them the biggest pay hike in 43 years while Americans can’t feed their families. And then raise taxes on Americans.

The recent inflationary Democrat spending packages have resulted in a federal hiring frenzy not only at the IRS but across the board. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act led to a job boom, not for Americans, but for government bureaucrats. The jobs aren’t being added at small businesses, as Biden, the Democrats, and their media falsely claimed, but in the government.

Last February, the Office of Personnel Management excitedly announced that it would need to hire 4,000 employees to carry out the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“These are exciting jobs, and they are critically important,” OPM director Kiran Ahuja gushed.

Critically important to bankrupting America.

And all of that requires more money, more tax hikes, and less available funds to help Americans.

“We should be putting American taxpayers first, not the federal bureaucracy,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer argued.

Instead, Biden is putting bureaucrats first and Americans last with pay hikes for government employees and tax hikes for Americans.  Biden keeps pushing the same claims that he’s “making the wealthy and big corporations begin to pay their fair share.” He blusters that he’s trying to protect Medicare. If he really cared about Medicare, he’d change his spending priorities like keeping Social Security and Medicare funds viable instead of paying off government unions.

Instead, Biden has directed trillions to his donors, supporters, and base. Now he promises that he can keep Medicare going until 2050 if he gets his tax hikes. That’s a lie. America is expected to add $19 trillion to its national debt in the next decade. The estimated interest rate on the debt will climb to $640 billion this year. Biden’s budget proposals have clocked in at around $6 trillion before. Even as the Fed hikes interest rates, government spending keeps feeding inflation. As a result, American families can’t afford food, but the economy still continues to overheat.

Biden’s student loan bailout has an estimated cost of as high as $400 billion. Medicare Part A spending is expected to have a $3 billion shortfall this year with an end-of-year negative trust fund balance of $8.6 billion in 2028 by the time Biden would finish a hypothetical second term.

The trouble is that Biden is prioritizing lesbian studies postgrads and equity administrators in the federal bureaucracy over grandma’s surgery. There’s plenty of money to eliminate the student loans of Harvard grads and to raise the salaries of federal bureaucrats, but tax hikes are needed to “save” Medicare.

The size of the federal civilian workforce has gone up from 2.08 million in 2018 to 2.14 million in 2021. One estimate noted that “federal workers receive pay that is 17 percent higher than private sector employees on average performing comparable work. That is on top of putting in 12 percent fewer hours” with retirement health benefits kicking in at 57 years old.

In 2016, an Open the Books report showed that the federal government had spent $136 billion paying federal employees, or over half a billion dollars a day and $1 million a minute. Those numbers are much higher now. The only pathway to salvaging Medicare and Social Security is to cut the cost of government. No amount of tax hikes will compensate for government spending whose debt-to-GDP ratio hit 97%. The federal government is running out of “other people’s money”. And that money is vanishing to fund a massive edifice that is bankrupting America.

The choice is simple: cut government or kill seniors. Biden has chosen to build up the government employees that fund his campaign and make up his party.

That means he’s chosen to kill seniors while trying to use them to push more tax hikes.

The Democrat campaign to import a massive new uneducated servant class that will vote them into power in perpetuity is proceeding apace. In today’s chapter, we learn that yet another tranche of illegal alien minors has been pressed into child labor in U.S. factories. NBC News had part of the story on Friday:

The Labor Department said Friday it found 102 children as young as 13 working hazardous overnight jobs cleaning slaughterhouses in eight states in what it called a “corporate-wide failure” by one of the largest food sanitation companies in the country, Packers Sanitation Services Inc. …The Labor Department says the children who were working overnight shifts used “caustic chemicals to clean razor-sharp saws.” The company employs 17,000 workers at 700 sites nationwide.

I say “part of the story,” because there was one important detail left out of the report: where the heck these kids came from? But it was easy enough to figure out. American-born children generally have parents present who look after them. Those whose parents die or fail on the job are placed into the state’s custody. And while that has its own set of problems, foster parents get paid for keeping the kids under their roof, so they don’t generally farm them out to factory duty. So where do unethical businesses turn when they want oversight-free indentured children? Why, Biden’s open border, of course!

The U.S. Dept. of Labor has been investigating the Packers Sanitation Services, Inc. case since late last fall (at least). After the situation was revealed, the Dept. of Homeland Security belatedly hopped in to investigate whether these kids had been trafficked.

Spoiler alert: of course they had. How else did they get there? But when you are part of the very system that does the trafficking (as DHS is, with its repurposed Customs and Border Protection agency), you’re likely not going to see the forest for the trees. NBC reported a month ago:

In court filings, the company did not deny hiring children but attributed it to “rogue individuals” who presented fake identification with Social Security numbers that were verified by the federal government’s E-Verify system.

Ah, yes — those “rogue individuals” are the bad guys. Not the DHS who picks up these kids from their coyotes, to whom the children are now indebted, and processes (or simply releases) them into the country. I wonder if the minors arrived in the Midwest on one of Biden’s “ghost flights” or if they took a publicly-funded bus? But by all means, let’s get those “rogue individuals!”

Canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline cost the United States tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity, the Biden administration belatedly confessed last month.

According to Fox News, the Department of Energy (DOE) released a report “in late December without any public announcement” stating that the pipeline project “would have created up to 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of up to $9.6 billion.”

Unfortunately, President Joe Biden, bowing to radical environmental activists, canceled the project’s permits on his first day in office, drawing criticism not just from Republicans but also from his erstwhile labor-union allies, who did not appreciate his destruction of thousands of anticipated union jobs.

Just how many jobs Keystone XL would have created has long been in dispute. TC Energy, the Canadian firm that operated the pipeline, initially claimed it would create 20,000 jobs, a figure then-President Barack Obama disputed, saying the number was “maybe 2,000 during the construction of the pipeline” and 50 to 100 permanent jobs thereafter. Around the same time, the State Department forecast the project would create 42,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and nearly 4,000 direct jobs. “The project labor agreement that TC Energy signed in August 2020 with four labor unions promised the pipeline would create 42,000 American jobs and provide $2 billion in total wages,” reported Fox News. The Biden administration, which had every incentive to lowball its estimate of jobs lost to the pipeline’s cancellation, actually came in with by far the highest projection of all. No wonder it kept its report under wraps until after the midterm elections.

“The Biden administration finally owned up to what we have known all along — killing the Keystone XL Pipeline cost good-paying jobs, hurt Montana’s economy, and was the first step in the Biden administration’s war on oil and gas production in the United States,” Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.) said in a statement to Fox News. “Unfortunately, the administration continues to pursue energy production anywhere but the United States.”

“These policies may appeal to the woke left but hurt Montana’s working families,” he continued. “I’ll keep fighting back against Biden’s anti-energy agenda and supporting Montana energy projects and jobs.”

Fox News wrote:

The DOE was forced to issue the report after Daines and Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, successfully inserted a bill mandating the report into the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Biden signed into law in November 2021. The agency was required to publish the report within 90 days of the bill’s passage but ultimately waited more than a year before releasing it.

A group of 23 states filed a federal lawsuit to overturn Biden’s executive order that canceled Keystone XL, but after TC Energy declared it would no longer pursue the project, a judge dismissed the case as moot, leaving significant constitutional questions unanswered.

Of course, a large portion of the estimated 830,000 barrels of crude oil that Keystone XL would have transported from Canada to the United States via an emissions-free pipeline is still going to make its way here. It’s just going to be moved by the costlier means of train or truck, generating carbon-dioxide emissions and other “pollutants” that the environmental lobby detests — and forcing consumers, already reeling from inflation, to pay even more for gasoline and other petroleum products.

Indeed, faced with potential electoral fallout from high gas prices, Biden pressured Saudi Arabia — whose horrific war in Yemen he continues to aid and abet — and other OPEC+ nations into delaying oil-production cuts until after the midterms.

“The Department of Energy finally admitted to the worst-kept secret about the Keystone Pipeline: President Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline sacrificed thousands of American jobs,” said Risch.

“To make matters worse, his decision moved the U.S. further away from energy independence and lower gas prices at a time when inflation and gas prices are drastically impacting Americans’ pocketbooks,” he added.

“The president must turn to American-made energy and jobs rather than dictators and despots to fix the energy crisis he created on his first day in office.”

You have to understand: the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has had far more important things to do than worry about minor things such as, you know, homeland security. The agency has been too busy, too dreadfully, frightfully busy, to be concerned with enforcing the most elementary safety procedures and collecting security cards from employees who have left the organization. After all, what could possibly go wrong? What could a disgruntled former employee do at the wholly innocuous DHS that would cause any difficulty for anyone?

A report that was published Thursday from the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) stated that “the Department of Homeland Security did not always terminate personal identity verification (PIV) card access or withdraw security clearances for separated employees and contractors in accordance with Federal regulations and Department policies.” This negligence has been going on for at least four years: “In 2018, we identified weaknesses in DHS’ controls over PIV card collection, revocation, destruction, and management oversight.” Yet nothing has been done:

Many of the issues we previously reported remain, and further work is required to improve and enhance processes. Specifically, DHS has not prioritized ensuring that PIV cards are terminated when individuals no longer require access. We determined that, in thousands of cases, DHS did not promptly revoke PIV card access privileges or destroy PIV cards of individuals who separated from the Department. In addition, DHS did not always promptly withdraw security clearances of individuals who separated from DHS.

The report noted that it was impossible even to tell how big this problem is, but there are at very least “thousands” of problematic incidents: “We determined that, in thousands of cases, DHS did not promptly revoke PIV card access privileges or destroy PIV cards of individuals who separated from the Department.” But the problem could be much, much bigger than even that: “In addition, DHS did not always promptly withdraw security clearances of individuals who separated from DHS. Unfortunately, we could not determine the exact magnitude of the problem because records in DHS’ information systems were incomplete.”

This has potentially catastrophic consequences: “DHS cannot ensure only authorized individuals have access to its controlled systems and facilities. As a result, there is a risk that individuals who no longer require access to systems and facilities could circumvent controls and enter DHS buildings and controlled areas.”

Clearly, the DHS has been far too consumed with its duties to care about such trivial matters. Last spring, rather than worry itself about trivialities such as unauthorized people gaining access to areas containing sensitive or classified information, it rolled out the Disinformation Governance Board. According to the office of Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), “the Disinformation Governance Board was originally conceived in part to monitor domestic speech regarding ‘conspiracy theories about the validity and security of elections’ and ‘disinformation related to the origins and effects of COVID-19 vaccines or the efficacy of masks.’” Even worse, “DHS planned for a partnership with Twitter to suppress disfavored content and planned a meeting with Twitter executives exploring the concept.” Now we know that Facebook and Twitter were meeting with DHS regularly to discuss what opinions Americans held that should be censored.

So you see: DHS had important censorship work to do, so as to make sure that as few Americans as possible had access to any information that departed from what Biden’s handlers wanted us all to believe and accept as true. It couldn’t possibly spare any time or personnel from that gargantuan, deeply patriotic effort to take care of something so trivial as ensuring that a criminal or terrorist wouldn’t be able to gain access to information that could lead to lives or fortunes lost and lives destroyed. For that, we would need a security agency, and it’s clear that at least during the misrule of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, DHS is anything but a security agency. It’s an enforcement arm for the regime, and a foe of the freedom of speech, not a security agency.

DHS was established in the wake of 9/11 to coordinate activities among the government’s various security agencies. It had signally failed in this mission, as the agencies still often operate at cross purposes with one another, and now compounding the problem is the corruption of the DHS into a weapon of partisan politics and the Left’s advancing authoritarianism. Maybe a future president will have to establish a security agency to coordinate activities among the government’s various security agencies. And then the whole corrupt cycle will begin again.

 

 

After Nominating Antisemitic Ambassador, Biden Condemns Antisemitism

Good news from the White House. Biden courageously condemns all antisemitism not involving him, his political allies, or, his political movement.

“Silence is complicity,” Biden said in remarks at the event Monday night, referring to rising antisemitism. “I will not be silent. America will not be silent.”

Last week, Biden formed a new interagency group to develop a national strategy to combat antisemitism. The president also called out “political leaders” who have not strongly denounced antisemitism, saying that their “silence is complicity,” in comments earlier this month.

Also, despite condemnations from Jewish groups, Biden nominated this antisemite as ambassador to Brazil.

Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, in a 1998 interview, a full copy of which was obtained by the Free Beacon, bemoaned “the influence of the Jewish lobby because there is major money involved.” She went on to claim “the Democrats always tend to go with the Jewish constituency on Israel and say stupid things, like moving the capital to Jerusalem always comes up.” Support for these Israel-related issues are due to “the Jewish factor, it’s money.”

Silence may or may not be complicity, but nominating an antisemite is definitely complicity.

The media carefully avoided covering the story with a handful of exceptions. After some initial pushback in the Senate, the White House doubled down and got her through. Why? Well just look at her bio.

Ambassador Bagley has been an early and active supporter of VP Biden’s presidential campaign. She served at the top level of the Biden Finance Council, was Co-Chair of Catholics for Biden, and a member of the foreign policy working group on Europe, Ambassadors for Biden, Women for Biden, and Lawyers for Biden. She also served as a surrogate speaker in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina and was a Florida poll watcher with the Biden Voter Protection team.

Bagley did everything besides tie Biden’s shoes. And Biden is complicit. Just as he is with Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and a whole host of antisemites in his party.

“In the second quarter of this year, we created more jobs than in any quarter under any of my predecessors in the nearly 40 years before the pandemic,” Mr. Biden said on July 8.

“The economy created more than 1.1 million jobs in the second quarter, or around 375k jobs per month,” the White House said in a statement on July 22.

A million or ten thousand. Come on, man. Who’s keeping track?

The Philadelphia Fed’s new assessment shows that employment numbers in 29 states and the District of Columbia were significantly lower than the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported for the March-through-June period.

The BLS, a division of the Department of Labor, estimated net job growth of 1,047,000 jobs in the second quarter. The Philadelphia Fed now says its data shows that 10,500 net jobs were created in that period.

Another reminder that anything from BLS or anything under the control of administration political appointees cannot be trusted. The Biden administration is actually worse than the Obama administration in this regard. Everything is corruptly politicized and appointees will flat-out tell the most outrageous lies.

Not that this comes as a surprise even to the media. How many times has this happened already?

The Vatican made the shocking move after charges Pavone is guilty of "blasphemous communications on social media" and "persistent disobedience" in communications with his bishop, USA Today reported. The startling story of Pavone's laicization broke after Catholic News Agency reviewed a letter reportedly sent to U.S. bishops from Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Vatican ambassador to the United States, detailing the dismissal. Pavone joined CBN's Faithwire to discuss the matter and to proclaim he has no plans to stop his pro-life work. Here's what he had to say.

Frank Pavone, who leads the advocacy group Priests for Life and was once a spiritual advisor to Donald Trump when he was president, has been removed from the priesthood by the Vatican.

No specifics of why Pavone was defrocked have been given by the Vatican, but Pavone has frequently clashed with his superiors over some of the language he has used in his social media postings.

A letter from the papal nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, to Pavone informing him of the action — called “laicization” — was vague. “This action was taken after Father Pavone was found guilty in canonical proceedings of blasphemous communications on social media, and of persistent disobedience of the lawful instructions of his diocesan bishop,” it states.

Pierre may have been talking about a tweet from 2020 that included some very unpriestly characterizations. In it, Pavone referred to  “supporters of this goddamn loser Biden and his morally corrupt, America-hating, God-hating Democrat party.”

The letter from the papal nuncio in the U.S. was addressed to the bishops, alerting them of the decision.

The New York Times:

The statement said that Mr. Pavone was given “ample opportunity to defend himself” as well as “multiple opportunities to submit himself to the authority of his diocesan bishop.”

“It was determined that Father Pavone had no reasonable justification for his actions,” it says.

The statement said the future of Mr. Pavone’s role at Priests for Life would be entirely up to the group, which it described as “not a Catholic organization.”

“As you will know, Father Pavone was a very public and high-profile figure associated with the Right to Life Movement in the U.S.,” Archbishop Pierre states. “His dismissal from the clerical state may, therefore, be a matter of interest among the faithful.

Pavone promised to keep fighting.

And Pavone has legions of supporters, including consecrated bishops.

It’s difficult to unpack the politics of the Vatican because so much happens behind the curtains. But we can speculate that Pope Francis himself either approved the decision or stepped aside to allow it to happen. Priests don’t get defrocked every day, and a well-known priest like Frank Pavone must have transgressed beyond a few curses on Twitter to force the hand of the Holy Father and receive the ultimate priestly punishment.

It may very well have been that Pavone was too loud in his opposition to abortion. Francis is trying to keep the Catholic Church in America from tearing itself apart over abortion. In the U.S., as in some western countries, the church’s anti-abortion activism has led to a split between pro-life and pro-abortion camps that are being fought from the top down. From the Conference of Catholic Bishops to the smallest parish, there are divisions that have roiled the church.

Pavone won’t be silenced, which begs the question of why Pope Francis and Pavone’s enemies wanted to defrock him in the first place. All they’ve done is raise his profile and turn him into a martyr.

And that will surely help his cause going forward.

Just in time for Christmas, auto workers at the Stellantis plant in Belvidere, Ill., are bracing for layoffs. Although the layoffs are not slated until February 28 of next year, employees of the plant will spend the holiday season trying to plan their futures instead of enjoying time with their families.

According to Fox Business, the plant manufactures the Jeep Cherokee and has 1,350 employees. The automaker cited the effects of COVID-19, a lack of microchips, and the high costs associated with making electric vehicles as the reasons for the decision. Stellantis added that the decision would “stabilize production,” bolster efficiency, and “preserve affordability and customer satisfaction in terms of quality.” So to save money to produce EVs, the Illinois plant will be shuttered. The company said it will do everything it can to rehire laid-off workers if possible, and Illinois Governor J.B.  Pritzker’s office has announced plans to retrain displaced workers for other jobs.

The United Auto Workers issued the following statement in response to the announcement:

“We are all deeply angered by Stellantis’ s decision to idle the Belvidere Assembly plant without a plan for future product,” says UAW Vice President and Director of the Stellantis Department Cindy Estrada. “There are many vehicle platforms imported from other countries that could be built in Belvidere with skill and quality by UAW members at Belvidere. The transition to electrification also creates opportunities for new product. Companies like Stellantis receive billions in government incentives to transition to clean energy.  It is an insult to all taxpayers that they are not investing that money back into our communities.”

“We believe Stellantis is grossly misguided in idling this plant which has produced profits for the company since 1965,” adds UAW President Ray Curry. “Not allocating new product to plants like Belvidere is unacceptable. Announcing the closure just a few weeks from the holidays is also a cruel disregard for the contributions of our members from UAW Locals 1268 and 1761.  We will fight back against this announcement.”

Of course, electric vehicles will save our air, the planet, and our very souls. We need to produce them in abundance and posthaste. So what did Stellantis decide to do? Since producing EVs is so costly, the company has decided to move the Belvidere plant to Mexico, according to The Daily Mail.  Naturally. So much for American jobs. So much for American workers.

A search of the Stellantis website yielded no information about the layoffs as of Monday morning.

And so, the Left’s grand vision for electric cars, gleaming futuristic cities and robots, and AI programs that will manage our lives for us exudes the common man. The people who are so passionate about ushering us into a brave, new world, kicking and screaming if necessary, don’t have the time or the empathy to consider the costs. If the right people look good and feel good, and the money changes in the proper hands, all will be well. No matter how many dunning notices and calls you may receive. Yes, the future is bright. If you can afford it.

Happy Veterans’ Day: West Point Gives Unvaxxed Cadets 10 Hours to Get Vaccine or Face Punishment

Happy Veterans’ Day! A great day to remember that freedom isn’t free, and to thank all those people in our lives who served or are serving in our nation’s military. West Point military academy chose a method of celebrating Veterans’ Day that was a little less focused on freedom and appreciation for service members, however — the day before the holiday, West Point gave unvaccinated cadets 10 hours to agree to get the COVID-19 vaccine or face punishment and potential expulsion. Because nothing says “Thank you for your service” like threatening to ruin your life for not taking an experimental vaccine.

This, despite the fact that recent Navy and Air National Guard administrative decisions rule the military can only require approved vaccines, and no FDA-approved COVID vaccines are available to the military.

That marks the second time this year that unvaccinated cadets were given an ultimatum of mere hours following denials of their religious exemption requests, as Just the News noted. The struggle between the very few unvaccinated cadets and the academy continues as the unvaccinated cadets are involved in lawsuits to obtain religious exemptions.

Just the News said West Point denied the vaccine exemption appeals on Nov. 2 but did not inform the cadets until 6 a.m. on Thursday, with a decision deadline of 4 p.m. that day. The very brief period of time allowed for the decision coming just before a holiday and three-day weekend indicates a desire to pressure cadets to a decision without sufficient legal advice or time to deliberate on options. “West Point continues to do this on a Friday afternoon or before a three-day weekend, which feels intentional,” military attorney R. Davis Younts told Just the News. He added that the ongoing midterm elections make a congressional intervention unlikely.

The appeals just denied followed a denial of the initial vaccine exemption requests in August, when cadets were given 24 hours to agree to be vaccinated. David said “only a few” unvaccinated cadets remain, trying to “continue to serve” while staying true to their religious principles.

The West Point developmental counseling form says, “Failure to obey this order may result in punitive or adverse administrative action.” That includes “separation” from the military, or “an honorable discharge, a general under honorable conditions discharge, or an other than honorable discharge,” Just the News explained. The last two discharges make cadets ineligible for most or all veterans’ benefits and may even make civilian employment difficult. The West Point form specifically threatens the latter consequences.

West Point’s form demands cadets “become fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine that has received full licensure from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA),” or receive “voluntary immunization with a COVID-19 vaccine under FDA Emergency Use Authorization or World Health Organization Emergency Use Listing.” The FDA-approved vaccines are unavailable.

Furthermore, evidence continues to come out that the COVID-19 vaccines were not properly tested and have serious side effects.

Pfizer executive Janine Small recently admitted to the European Parliament — with a laugh — that the company did not test whether its COVID-19 vaccine stopped transmission of the virus before the vaccine was put on the market. A lot of sex.” As a result of these statements by Rasti, Project Veritas decided to reach out to retired State Police Officer, Corporal Thomas McAndrew, who spent 25 years on the force leading major crime investigations and profiling offenders in the state of Pennsylvania. McAndrew said that Rasti’s remarks raise concerns. “It’s just very concerning that he would lose that judgment -- of the difference between what position he is in,” McAndrew said. “Concern with the fact that this is where his mindset is. His mindset is not in welcoming back a teenager who is a student, but instead, he’s obsessed with a sexual connotation or the sexual aspect of that student. Why his mind would go there is very concerning. Again, fantasy is one thing, thinking it is another thing. But when he has blurred the lines and started to justify all of his behavior, it is certainly a concern to us,” he said. “It is predatory. When somebody is this obsessed with a fantasy, it starts to rule their life. They start to move in a direction of losing the concept of reality. The reality is he’s a teacher. He’s in a power position. He should be worried about educating these children. Instead, his focus is more on constantly -- it seems, constantly obsessed with sexual aspects of these children.”

Three-quarters of all federal law is not enacted by those we elect but by the unelected heads of over 200 government departments, agencies, and bureaus.  Under our Constitution, only Congress has the power to make laws (Art. I: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States . . .”), and yet, through a deliberate circumvention of the Constitution, federal agencies have for over one hundred and forty years created, enforced, adjudicated, and punished parties for violating laws Congress never enacted.  Indeed, as Professor Philip Hamburger explains, the administrative state is largely indistinguishable from the dreaded Courts of Star Chamber and High Commission that the Founding Fathers condemned for their abuses and constitutionally prohibited.

The Administrative State makes decisions that sacrifice individual liberty and property, but also even human life—all without adherence to constitutional limits on government power.  A single example can illustrate the point.  For over sixty years, to protect drug companies from competition, the FDA has maintained a blanket ban on information associating nutrients with disease risk reduction, thus giving drug companies a monopoly on therapeutic claims.  Under that ban, the FDA prohibited Americans from receiving at the point-of-sale information associating 800 micrograms of folic acid in dietary supplements with a reduction in the risk of neural tube defects (e.g., spina bifida and anencephaly).  That ban was held unconstitutional in Pearson v. Shalala in 1999, but for at least two decades before the Court ruled, FDA’s censorship resulted in an estimated 2,500 preventable NTDs each year and countless NTD-related abortions.  FDA continues to censor numerous nutrient-disease claims that, if allowed, would save lives.

Consider just a few more examples of the unconstitutional power and abuses visited upon us by the Administrative State.  The Founding Fathers were very familiar with general warrants and believed them antithetical to individual liberty; they prohibited them in the Fourth Amendment.  Prohibited, general warrants are nevertheless used every day by federal administrative agencies, a flagrant violation of the Fourth Amendment.  In Stanford v. Texas, the Supreme Court explained that “[v]ivid in the memory of the newly independent Americans were these general warrants known as writs of assistance under which officers of the Crown had so bedeviled the colonists.”  Justice Potter Stewart wrote for a unanimous Court that Americans were entitled to “’ be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects from intrusion and seizure by officers acting under the unbridled authority of a general warrant.”  Yet every day, general warrants are issued by federal agencies, like the FTC, the EPA, and the BLM, acting without a federal court order and commanding Americans to produce all manner of the most sensitive financial records and documents entirely on suspicion and without ever having to prove probable cause.

As early as 1895, in Coffin v. United States, the Supreme Court made unequivocal that those accused by the government were entitled to a presumption of innocence.  Yet every day the Administrative State presumes those it accuses to be guilty until they prove themselves innocent.  Moreover, the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination is ignored in the administrative law context, such that routinely individuals accused by agencies are ordered to provide testimony against themselves.

It is a cardinal constitutional principle, articulated well by Madison in Federalist No. 47, that the prosecutor not also be the judge because impartial justice is impossible when the very official seeking conviction of the accused is also the one with legal authority to decide the dispute.  Madison wrote: “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”  And yet, when administrative law judges decide a case, their decisions are but recommendations to the agency heads, the very heads who ordered the prosecution in the first place.  That leads to biased decision-making.  Indeed, former FTC Commissioner Joshua D. Wright explained that in his agency’s history, he could not find a single instance in which the accused was ever found innocent of the wrongdoing charged by the FTC:  Every time FTC accuses, it holds the accused guilty!

Under the Sixth and Seventh Amendments, every American is entitled to a jury trial before the government imposes a penalty (a restriction on his or her liberty or a command that he or she pay the government money or forfeit property).  And yet, when administrative agencies impose huge fines, discontinue any enterprise, or deny the accused the right to advertise, label a product, or market a good or service, the party affected is denied the right to a trial before an impartial jury of peers.

These are among many violations of constitutional rights that take place across the United States as Administrative Agencies enforce their rules which Congress never passed into law.  There are thousands of Americans who have lost their jobs, lost their businesses, lost their livelihoods, and, indeed, lost their liberty and lives because of government agencies depriving Americans of constitutional rights to achieve politically preferred outcomes.  The Deep State has swallowed not just political enemies but honest, hard-working Americans in virtually every field of endeavor.  Freedom, innovation, progress, opportunity, and choice have all been put on the chopping block by the voracious regulatory state that now dominates and controls America.

Until we limit law-making to Congress, as the Constitution requires, and until we end Administrative Agency rights violations, we will never enjoy that liberty that is our birthright as citizens of our constitutional republic.  An updated version of a bill I wrote with Norm Singleton for Ron Paul years ago would help solve the problem.  Called the Congressional Responsibility and Accountability Act, it would prohibit any administrative agency proposed rule from taking effect unless passed into law by Congress, and it would sunset every existing regulation within three years unless passed into law by Congress.  Add to that a requirement that agencies bring charges before independent federal courts, elimination of administrative law courts, and demand for de novo judicial review of all agency actions, and we would be well on our way to restoring the constitutional rights protections taken from us by the Administrative State.

“The business of progressives is to go on making mistakes,” noted G.K. Chesterton ages ago. Well, for one Pennsylvania woman, they just made one mistake too many. In fact, says family attorney Nicole Levitt, it’s to the point where “political liberalism seems to have passed me by.”

At issue is that as part of employer-mandated “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) training, she was asked to sign a contract stating that “all white people are racist,” as Levitt put it in a July video. She refused and now has filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint against her employer.

Levitt explained in a Sunday article that she was enthusiastic about joining her current company. She states that being a licensed professional counselor as well as a lawyer, she finds it fulfilling to work in family law, working with domestic violence victims; she says she has even done pro bono work in the field, and her current workplace allows her to indulge her passions.

Levitt doesn’t mention who her employer is, but she’s identified as an associate attorney at We Care Legal Services, PLLC at the entity’s website. However, Levitt states that her current employer is “based in Philadelphia” while We Care Legal lists offices only in Levittown and Doylestown in Bucks County (which does border Philadelphia). So it is possible, though perhaps unlikely, that We Care Legal is a former employer that has not sufficiently updated its website.

Levitt’s problems started after the 2020 death of drug-addled criminal George Floyd. Levitt states that most of her employer’s clients are non-white and that her workplace “organized meetings about it [the incident]; everyone was upset.” She continued:

This evolved into having what was later referred to as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) sessions, where we had affinity groups where staff were separated out into groups based on ethnicity, for example into a white group and a Black group. I was told that I had to attend a white affinity group meeting, but eventually, I was given permission to not attend, because I really didn’t agree with being separated by race.

… I felt it was very regressive. I felt that we didn’t need to listen to one group over another and split ourselves off into groups….

I found the approach of my organization to be very divisive and to be taking time away from our mission.

… I have always been adamantly opposed to racism. I joined the Racial Equity Committee at my job in 2020, but over time, I personally found the language used against white people to be very dehumanizing. I also discovered that there was to be a difference in stipends paid to members of the Racial Equity Audit Taskforce (“REAT”), where Black members of REAT would be paid more than their white counterparts. That seemed not only wrong, but illegal, a violation of US civil rights laws.

… And I was even asked to agree to a “Full Value Contract” shared over email that included a point saying we had to “Own that all white people are racist and that I am not the exception.”

It should be emphasized that Levitt is no conservative. Under the aforementioned July video, posted by the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (JILV), it’s stated that she “is an active member of the Philadelphia Jewish community and is a founding volunteer of the [JILV].”

Levitt also states that she “used to be liberal” and is still “a more classic liberal,” but feels “politically homeless” with wokeness’ ascendancy and now doesn’t have affection for either major party.

But refusing to drink the Kool-Aid, deeply, was a problem. Levitt was told by her employer that if she didn’t want to attend the racially segregated “white affinity group,” she could instead meet with a DEI consultant. But while this was billed as a company effort to support her, it turned out to be an attempt at “re-education” in which her unacceptable thoughts were to be reformed.

Levitt also relates that the revisionist, anti-American, discredited 1619 Project was presented as truth at some of her company training sessions. Par for the course as well, Levitt says that by objecting to her workplace’s divisive program, she was accused of sowing division. Levitt relates her experiences in the JILV video above.

Levitt believes her employer’s “singling out [of] white people” and creation of a hostile work environment “is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.” She’s also not alone, as these woke anti-white policies have been embraced by workplaces, schools, colleges, and organizations nationwide.

Know that while Levitt has been alienated from the hard Left, she still hasn’t been red-pilled; in fact, she calls her employer’s trespasses “one of these cases where good intentions have gone very awry.”

And it’s not unusual to hear — though it was far more common decades back — that “liberals have good intentions” (with which they pave a road to Hell). But is this true?

Does it reflect good intentions when you tout “sanctuary cities” and condemn those opposed to illegal migration, but then avoid having migrants in your midst, as recently happened in Martha’s Vineyard, New York City, and Chicago?

Does it reflect good intentions when you advocate defunding the police, but then enjoy private security while non-white people you claim to champion must deal with the burgeoning crime?

Does it reflect good intentions when as in Dumbo, Brooklyn, leftists push diversity but then recoil when it’s introduced in their own schools, with one actually saying, “It’s more complicated when it’s about your own children”?

It’s easy being idealistic when you don’t have to live with your ideals. It’s easy being charitable when you outsource your charity. Why, with good intentions like that, who needs bad ones?
