When Pope Benedict XVI died on December 31 at the age of 95, it turns out that he had a completed book ready for publication upon his death. Written in Italian, that book, Che cos’è il Cristianesimo: Quasi un testamento spirituale (What Is Christianity: Almost a Spiritual Testament), is full of explosive revelations and trenchant criticism of his woke successor, Pope Francis. Could Pope Benedict begin a counter-revolution within the Roman Catholic Church from the grave? Stranger things have happened, although it would take any one of us a good while to think of one.
Pope Benedict explains that he did not want the book published while he was still living because of the furious reaction his writings inspired: “For my part, in life, I no longer want to publish anything. The fury of the circles against me in Germany is so strong that the appearance of my every word immediately causes murderous shouting from them. I want to spare myself and Christendom this.”
It’s easy to see why this book would inspire “murderous shouting” from some corners of the Roman Catholic Church. Benedict writes that the Church is close to “collapse” and paints a picture of seminaries in the United States as centers of promiscuous homosexuality and perversion. “In various seminaries,” the pope explained, “homosexual ‘clubs’ were formed which acted more or less openly and which clearly transformed the atmosphere in the seminaries. In a seminary in southern Germany, candidates for the priesthood and candidates for the lay office of pastoral referent lived together.”
The corruption was more or less out in the open. “During common meals,” Benedict noted, “the seminarians were together with married pastoral representatives, partly accompanied by their wives and children and in some cases by their girlfriends. The climate in the seminary could not help priestly formation.” He said that a “bishop who had previously been rector had allowed seminarians to be shown pornographic films, presumably with the intention of thereby enabling them to resist against behavior contrary to the faith.”
These allegations are all too plausible. On Sunday, the Times of London reported that “the Roman Catholic church is investigating allegations of a lockdown ‘sex party’ at a cathedral as part of an inquiry into a former bishop’s tenure. In a highly unusual move, the Vatican has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Robert Byrne’s resignation as the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle in December.” It appears that “a number of complaints were made by individuals within the diocese after information came to light about a sex party taking place in the priests’ living quarters attached to Newcastle cathedral.” As a result of all this, “the cathedral had become a laughing stock.”
Amid the steady stream of news about sexual misconduct by priests, this kind of story is sadly unsurprising, and comes, according to Pope Benedict, amid the effort of some Catholic leaders to remake the faith itself: “There were individual bishops, and not only in the United States, who rejected the Catholic tradition as a whole, aiming in their dioceses to develop a kind of new, modern catholicity.” Pope Benedict, who respected Catholic tradition, was the enemy in these circles: “Perhaps it is worth mentioning the fact that, in not a few seminaries, students caught reading my books were considered unfit for the priesthood. My books were concealed as harmful literature and were read only in secret, so to speak.”

Pope Benedict criticized Pope Francis for doing nothing to stop the rampant corruption: “In the context of the meeting of the presidents of the episcopal conferences of the whole work with Pope Francis, it is at heart above all the question of priestly life and also that of seminaries. As regards the problem of preparation for priestly ministry in seminaries, we note in fact a vast collapse of the current form of this preparation.”
Pope Benedict also warned that amid the Church’s disarray, the world was becoming increasingly anti-Christian. He noted that the “great powers of tolerance do not grant to Christianity the tolerance they propagate, adding that their “radical manipulation of man” and “distortion of the sexes through gender ideology” were inherently anti-Christian, and regarded the Church as an obstacle: “The intolerance of this apparent modernity towards the Christian faith has not yet turned into open persecution, and yet it manifests itself in an increasingly authoritarian way with the aim of achieving, by appropriate legislation, the eradication of what is essentially Christian.” Anyone who doubts that should just consult the daily headlines.
Against this, the Roman Catholic Church and all the churches need to recover their faith and sense of themselves and stand to battle for the truth. Instead, they are consumed with the same “progressive” virus that infects everything else.

Just days before she was denied boarding, Bell and the man had a quarrel when he refused to let her meet his family, according to a government transcript of their online communication.
“This trip is exhausting enough," Bell wrote. "I love you very much but it is hard for me to accept how you direct my life. I am an independent woman in America.
“If I was not the woman I am, I wouldn't be able to support you.”"

“NJ Army Vet Who Supported Syrian Terrorist Lover Gets 3 Plea-Bargained Years In Federal Prison,” by Jerry DeMarco, Franklin Daily Voice, January 24, 2023:
A U.S. Army veteran from Sussex County must spend more than three years in federal prison for deliberately concealing money and guidance she gave to a Syrian terrorist she’d fallen in love with.
Because there’s no parole in the federal prison system, Maria Bell, 55, must serve out just about all of the plea-bargained 36-month sentence approved by a federal judge in Newark on Tuesday, Jan. 24,
Bell, of Hopatcong, offered not only money and military intelligence but the benefit of her experience in specialized weapons training to Syria-based factions fighting the Assad regime, a complaint on file in U.S. District Court says.
Bell, who was also a member of the U.S. National Guard, wired at least 18 payments totaling around $3,150 via Western Union to a self-identified member of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an alias for the al-Nusra Front (ANF), the complaint says….
Although the complaint doesn’t name him, Stars and Stripes identified Bell’s lover as Abdullah Flayes.
HTS reportedly is led by Mohammad al-Jolani, the founder of al-Nusra Front, which has which has been described as the “most aggressive and successful” jihadist organization looking to establish an Islamic state in Syria. The group includes many al-Qaeda militants while claiming to be independent of al-Qaeda, federal authorities say.
According to the complaint, Bell advised her lover to make sure the terrorist group’s leaders kept American journalists from interviewing their fighters.
He at one point told her the group would attack New York City if the U.S. government tried to help the Syrian regime, it says.
Bell, in their discussions, referred tp 9/11 as “the big attack in New York,” the complaint filed in Newark says. She called it “sad,” then followed by saying that Americans “have little idea of consequences.”
Bell urged her lover to fight “on the front line” while also reassuring him that “I am with you,” the complaint says….
FBI agents arrested her at her home in late November 2020. According to the complaint, Bell was carrying travel tickets to Turkey through Egypt for that same day.
Agents search the two-bedroom home that was left to Bell by her late husband. They reported finding 136 operable handguns and rifles, 15 canisters of ammo and a short-range rocket launcher.

The self-proclaimed “sunniest city on Earth,” Yuma, Arizona, is reaching its breaking point due to the overwhelming number of illegal immigrants crossing the nearby border and overloading hospitals and food banks. The once-winter paradise is now nothing more than just another major “hotspot” point of entry for thousands of illegals coming into the United States.
Medical facilities in the area are being pushed to the brink of collapse due to the increasing number of illegal immigrants, with residents reportedly unable to access the only hospital in the city. Yuma has a population of 100,000. The city sees thousands of illegal aliens crossing its border every week, including “getaways.” It currently ranks third in illegal immigrant apprehensions behind El Paso and Del Rio, Texas. Yuma County’s Border Patrol reportedly has seen a 171-percent increase in migrant crossings between 2021 and 2022.
The border crisis, or what some have called an invasion, is due to President Biden’s lack of any meaningful enforcement of immigration laws and the creation of his new immigration parole system. His policies are an open invitation for illegals to cross into the United States at all costs, to gain what many hope to be a new start for their families. But in reality, Biden’s immigration policies have only caused stress on border communities and legal citizens all along the southern border.
“Policies need to be changed when you see an unprecedented amount of people coming across the border that even supersedes what we saw under any of the other presidents for the past 30 years,” Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines told Fox News. “And they’re coming because they said that Biden told them to come, that we have an open border.”
Many illegal aliens have chosen Yuma as their gateway into America because of the relative ease of crossing the border. The Daily Mail shared that “according to Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls, there are 50 breaks in the border wall along the 126-mile Yuma sector, including the infamous ‘Gap’.” Nicholls added, “Huge container-sized gaps in the 30ft border wall allow migrants to walk right through, aided by a thinly-spread Border Patrol. However, construction is currently underway to fill some of the gaps.”
In addition to the strain on hospitals and support services, Yuma’s agriculture community is at risk as many illegal immigrants are walking across fields, potentially destroying farmers’ crops and hurting the local economy.
“Yuma is the winter lettuce capital of the US due to its famed all-year-round sun. It produces 93 percent of the country’s lettuce during the winter months,” said the Daily Mail. Local farmer Alex Muller told Fox News, “Our fields are monitored and audited and tested for different pathogens. You can’t have people walking through the field.”
Lines has repeatedly called on the Biden administration to act to relieve the pressure on border counties and to visit Yuma to witness the strain that has been placed on the community.
Lines stated, “After the visit … border crossings had dropped to almost nothing amid tighter activity on the Mexican side, while discarded shoes, medicine bottles and other evidence of illegal crossings had been removed from along the US side.”
“Everything’s been 100% sanitized here as well. Even more so than they’ve ever done before. And we’re actually not even seeing people coming across the border right now,” he said, adding, “It’s interesting because I’ve had several congressional delegations come to Yuma and the unannounced delegations always see the real border challenge, not the publicized ones.”
Yuma wasn’t the only recently “sanitized” border city that was staged to downplay the border crisis for visiting elected officials. When Biden stopped in El Paso, Texas, earlier this month, Texas Governor Abbott handed him a letter accusing his administration of cleaning up El Paso prior to his visit.
Abbott wrote, “Your visit avoids the sites where mass illegal immigration occurs and sidesteps the thousands of angry Texas property owners whose lives have been destroyed by your border policies. Even the city you visit has been sanitized of the migrant camps which had overrun downtown El Paso because your Administration wants to shield you from the chaos that Texans experience on a daily basis. This chaos is the direct result of your failure to enforce the immigration laws that Congress enacted.”
The narrative the federal government seems to want us and the media to follow in regard to the mass of illegals crossing our southern border is nothing more than an illusion and a facade hiding the ugly truth that the border communities are being overrun.
Supervisor Lines clearly understands the sanitization process when he said, “It’s a lie. They’re misrepresenting what’s actually happening at the border. Every single time there’s a high-profile visit, this is par for the course, so that people never get to see what it looks like.”
President Biden and his administration have no desire to secure the southern border; that has been proven time and time again. The border cities such as Yuma will have to continue to stand tall and do what they can to survive the border invasion, while Biden watches from afar willfully ignoring his sworn duty to protect our borders and sovereignty.
Putin Wants to Buy U.S. Weapons Left in Afghanistan — But There’s Even More

Billions of dollars worth of U.S. weapons are on the negotiating table between Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and Afghanistan’s Taliban government, according to at least one insider.
Presidentish Joe Biden’s bungled bugout from Afghanistan resulted in a windfall for the new radical Islamic government, including artillery, attack helicopters, and thousands of HUMVEES, machine guns, and radios — all left behind as our orderly withdrawal degenerated into a rout.
The Department of Defense estimates the total value of the gear Biden left behind at a whopping $7.12 billion, and now Putin is reportedly offering to buy whatever he and the battered Russian Army need.
According to The Sun, a report on Telegram (a social media platform popular with Russian mil bloggers) claims:
Putin is overseeing negotiations with the Taliban to recognise the Taliban government. In return, the Russian leadership is offering a major arms and military equipment swap,” General SVR channel wrote.
“Putin reported that the Taliban possess weapons and equipment including those seized after coming to power in Afghanistan, that are scarce for the Russian Army at the front,” it further stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense hasn’t commented on the rumor.
If I’m reading this correctly, this would be more of a weapons swap than a cash deal. The Taliban would give up its Western gear in exchange for diplomatic recognition and Russian weapons. Undoubtedly, ammo, spares, and replacements for Russian equipment would be easier for the Taliban to get hold of than for the Western stuff they have now.
Exactly how much effective use the Russian Army would get out of Biden’s haul is debatable. They’d face the same problem the Taliban has: Lack of spares and proper ammo.
Still, given Russia’s massive losses — including up to 3,000 frontline and reserve main battle tanks — every little bit probably helps.
If the deal goes through, there’s the added bonus of a diplomatic coup against the Biden Administration’s ineptitude — not to mention the further embarrassment of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians being killed by American weapons.
The headline to my story promised more, and here it is:
U.S. Southern Command chief General Laura Richardson told the Atlantic Council this week that the Biden Administration has offered Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua — all trouble spots for us — and six other Latin American nations used U.S. military equipment if they’d send their old Russian and Soviet gear to Ukraine.
This report stands on much firmer ground than the rumor about Putin and the Taliban, having been confirmed by Gen. Richardson herself.
Meanwhile, the U.S., Germany, Poland, and the U.K. are in the process of sending modern main battle tanks like the M1 Abrams, Leopard II, and Challenger 2 to Ukraine.
There’s a deeper realignment going on here, and both these stories are indicative of it.
Communist China’s rise and Russia’s reckless invasion of Ukraine — and the West’s response to both — have effectively blunted globalization. The world is bifurcating once more, with China and Russia on one side, and NATO plus the westernized Pacific Rim nations (Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand) on the other. The rest of the world will be pressured to take sides in Cold War II.
Assuming Ukraine survives Putin’s invasion, they will adopt Western gear whether or not they join NATO. Now that the West is their supplier, it makes little sense for Kyiv to stick with weapons designed and built by their sworn enemy.
Weaning anti-American countries like Cuba and Venezuela off Russian weapons makes a callous kind of sense, as part of an (ill-fated?) effort to realign them westward.
Both sides made a lot of stupid and/or self-defeating plays during the Cold War, and Cold War II is lining up to be just as messy.
