The whole world knows that Karine Jean-Pierre is unfit to be White House press secretary; any doubters can consult the evidence of every day’s press briefing for fresh evidence. KJP has become notorious for giving answers that have nothing to do with the questions she is supposed to be answering, relying over-heavily upon the canned answers provided in her briefing book, and ignoring reporters who are liable to ask inconvenient questions. But for the same reasons that she got the job in the first place, the establishment media has been reluctant to call her out and state the obvious: that a random person off the street would likely do a better job than she does. On Tuesday, however, Karine Jean-Pierre finally had her Emperor’s-New-Clothes moment: Cameroonian reporter Simon Ateba told her during a White House press briefing, “You don’t seem a good fit for this job.”

Truer words haven’t been spoken inside the boundaries of Washington, D.C. in many a year. KJP is indeed not a good fit for her job. She only has her job, in fact, for reasons that have nothing to do with any abilities that would have made her a competent press secretary. She wasn’t chosen because she has superior communications skills or experience in tough verbal exchanges with political adversaries. She doesn’t have any notable ability to spin bad news and make it seem as if it’s a win, an ability that would be a major asset for this disaster-a-day dumpster-fire regime.

No, there are only three reasons why Karine Jean-Pierre is the White House press secretary today, and three reasons only: she is a woman, she is black, and she is a lesbian. (It helps also, of course, that she is a Leftist; if KJP had been a black lesbian who supported the former president, she wouldn’t be press secretary, she would be an “insurrectionist.”) There is no other reason why she has her job, and yet none of the three reasons that got her into this fix have anything whatsoever to do with being a reasonably serviceable press secretary.

The assumption of Biden’s handlers, and of the Left in general, is that all sorts of splendidly accomplished people have been denied jobs and preferment because evil white males chose only other evil white males for promotion and advancement. That was certainly true in some circumstances, but those days have long since passed, and since 1964 there has been a federal law against discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. If there were legions of black lesbians who were denied opportunities because of their race and sexual preference and would have been absolutely wonderful press secretaries, Karine Jean-Pierre has abundantly established that she is not one of them.

But because KJP remains black and lesbian, she cannot be removed from her job or even criticized; any criticism would be (what else?) “racist,” as well as “homophobic.” Enter Simon Ateba, a reporter for Today’s News Africa. In this ridiculous kabuki dance, Ateba has a couple of advantages of his own. He is also black, so he can’t be charged with “racism” if he utters the smallest negative word regarding KJP. On top of that, he is not an American at all, so he can’t be expected to respect or even be fully aware of the intricacies of the power game in America today. Thus he can get away with treating Jean-Pierre with something less than the awed and respectful deference she commands from American establishment media reporters because of her privileged status as a black lesbian.

And so Ateba said: “Karine, since you don’t have any answer on the classified documents, you don’t seem a good fit for this job.” As KJP ignored him and called on someone else, he continued: “We do not seem to have any answer from you” on the Biden classified documents scandal.

Ateba has tangled with KJP before. In December, he asked her about Biden’s summit meeting with African leaders, calling out “Why is it so hard to give me a question?” when Jean-Pierre wouldn’t give him an answer. Ateba later remarked: “Karine Jean-Pierre should be ashamed of herself. How bad can discrimination get? Even when President Biden is hosting 50 African leaders, she cannot give a question to the African reporter in the room. Shameful.” In November, he called KJP out for ignoring a question about the origins of COVID from the Daily Caller’s Diana Glebova: “If you’re going to hold a press briefing, you need to call on people across the room. She has a valid question. She’s asking about the origin of COVID … Fauci’s the best person to answer this question.”

Jean-Pierre responded: “I hear the question, but we’re not doing this the way you want it. This is disrespectful. Simon, I’m done. I’m done with you right now. You’re taking time away from your colleagues.”

Disrespectful. There it is. Doesn’t Simon Ateba know that he is supposed to treat a numinous black lesbian with respectful deference at all times and in all circumstances? The way this guy is behaving, it’s positively un-American.

Eight of the countries that are the top ten persecutors of Christians are majority-Muslim

How strange! Why might this be? Could it have something to do with these teachings of Islam?

Jesus is not the Son of God and belief in the Trinity is “excess”: “O people of the book, do not exaggerate in your religion or say anything about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and his word that he conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers, and do not say Three, Stop, it is better for you. Allah is only one God. It is far removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son. Everything that is in the heavens and everything that is on the earth is his. And Allah is sufficient as a defender.” — Qur’an 4:171

And: “It is not fitting for Allah that he should take to himself a son. Glory be to him when he decrees a thing, he says to it only, Be, and it is.” — Qur’an 19:35

Jesus was not crucified: “And because of their saying, We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of Allah, they did not kill him nor crucify him, but it seemed so to them, and indeed, those who disagree about this are in doubt about it, they have no knowledge of it except the pursuit of a supposition, they did not kill him for certain.” — Qur’an 4:157

Those who believe in the divinity of Christ are unbelievers: “They indeed have disbelieved who say, Indeed, Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say, Who then can do anything against Allah, if he had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what he wills. And Allah is able to do all things.” — Qur’an 5:17 (cf. 5:72)

Christians have forgotten part of the divine revelations they received: “And with those who say: Indeed, we are Christians, we made a covenant, but they forgot a part of what they were reminded about. Therefore we have stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the day of resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork.” — Qur’an 5:14

Those who believe that Jesus is God’s Son are accursed: “And the Jews say, Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say, The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the statements of those who disbelieved before. May Allah curse them. How perverse they are.” — Qur’an 9:30

Christians who do not accept Muhammad and the Qur’an are the vilest of created beings: “Indeed, the unbelievers among the people of the book and the idolaters will remain in the fire of Gehenna. They are the vilest of created beings.” — Qur’an 98:6

Muslims must fight against and subjugate Christians: “Fight against those who do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel subdued.” — Qur’an 9:29

Also, a hadith has Muhammad predicting that Jesus will return at the end of the world and break the cross, as it is an insult to Allah’s power to say that he would have allowed one of his prophets to be crucified: “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, ‘By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary [Jesus] will shortly descend amongst you people [Muslims] as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya [a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government]. Then there will be an abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts.’” — Bukhari 3.34.425

“Iran ranked eighth hardest country to be Christian,” Article 18, January 18, 2023:

Iran has risen back to eighth place on an annual list of the countries where it is hardest to practise the Christian faith.

This marks a return to Iran’s 2021 ranking on the World Watch List, which is produced by Christian charity Open Doors International, after a year in ninth place.

For the past five years, Iran has oscillated between eighth and ninth place on the list.

This year, Iran has moved back above Afghanistan, which last year topped the list, even ahead of perennial “winner” North Korea.

The other countries in the top 10 are Somalia, Yemen, Eritrea, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan and Sudan.

Iran’s rise by one point in Open Doors’ scoring system was “mainly caused by an increase in reported violent incidents”, said the charity, “including an abduction”.

“The outlook for Iranian Christians, in particular converts from Islam to Christianity, is by no means improving,” Open Doors said….

Republicans Demand Spending Cuts Before Raising Debt Ceiling

Republicans Demand Spending Cuts Before Raising Debt Ceiling

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the new Republican-controlled Congress were given an extension by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen earlier this month to remedy the debt ceiling by June to avert a catastrophic default on U.S. debt. That gives them less than five months to find an agreeable solution.

The United States reached its debt limit of $31.4 trillion on January 19, with the Treasury Department using “extraordinary measures” to ensure the federal government will not default on its obligations. Both Congress and President Biden will need to agree to raise or suspend the statutory debt limit before June to keep the government solvent.

The Republicans, who have a slim majority in the House, are demanding spending cuts as part of any deal to raise the debt ceiling. But they face a difficult challenge, as Biden has already rejected the possibility of linking increasing the debt ceiling with cutting federal spending. Administration officials believe the debt ceiling should be raised as part of a clean vote, without other conditions attached.

Being fiscally responsible and making spending cuts is easy to talk about, but the real conundrum Republican lawmakers are facing is what and where to find these spending cuts. Coming up with a solid plan is making life difficult for McCarthy and the narrow majority.

NBC shared,

“There’s gotta be cuts in spending. That has to happen,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., an ally of McCarthy, R-Calif., and the far right.

But she declined to get specific when she was asked what should be cut.

“I haven’t really formulated an exact list,” she said.

There are many general areas of government spending that Republicans would love to cut, but they are divided on specific programs, including Medicare, Social Security, and military funding. They are willing to cut domestic non-defense spending, although it’s a small part of the overall budget and most likely won’t make much of an impact on balancing the budget. One thing they all agree on is that there should be no new tax revenues to reduce the debt.

Speaker McCarthy will need to find a way to avoid another defiant stand by GOP representatives who will not budge from their core principles if he is to get a debt-ceiling bill passed and Biden’s signature. Those members of the House who sought concessions during McCarthy’s run for the speaker’s seat will pose the greatest challenge to his leadership.

NBC continued:

“I have said since I first ran that I would not vote for a debt ceiling increase apart from the cuts in spending that would put us on a path to fiscal responsibility,” said Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., who declined to elaborate on what specifically that would look like.

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., who landed a seat on the powerful Rules Committee, said he wants to see “a downward trajectory” in long-term spending as part of any increase in the debt ceiling.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., another of the 20 initial McCarthy holdouts, said a debt limit bill should have an amendment to balance the budget over 10 years to win her vote.

Luna said she wants to do it without tax increases or Social Security or Medicare cuts. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” she said.

Adding to McCarthy’s challenges within his own party is knowing that Biden is defiant and setting the stage for a long, drawn-out battle over the debt ceiling.

The Hill reported:

“If Republicans want to work together on real solutions and continue to grow manufacturing jobs, build the strongest economy in the world and make sure Americans are paid a fair wage, I’m ready,” Biden said in remarks on the economy in Springfield, Va. “But I will not let anyone use the full faith and credit of the United States as a bargaining chip…. The very notion that we would default on the safest, most respected debt in the world is mind-boggling.”

If an agreement can’t be reached in time, the consequences of default could include a stock market crash, a recession, higher interest rates, a weaker dollar, and a government unable to meet all its obligations — from funding the military to providing Social Security benefits.

No one knows what Congress will eventually offer up as a solution, but it is apparent that the battle lines have been drawn and all sides are digging in, hopeful to win the day. The bottom line here is that no matter what happens with the debt ceiling, it will be the American taxpayer who will once again have to pay for our fiscally irresponsible government.
