The humanitarian situation in the border city of El Paso is so bad and so ugly that local authorities are bulldozing several illegal immigrant encampments to get them out of sight before Joe Biden’s visit on Sunday.

El Paso had been turned into one gigantic homeless shelter after tens of thousands of illegal aliens crossed the border in December anticipating the end of the immigration restriction known as Title 42. But the Supreme Court granted a reprieve to Texas and other border states who had sued to keep the restrictions in place. As a result, streets, sidewalks, and parking lots in El Paso have been taken over by illegal aliens.

Now, Joe Biden has imposed a policy — probably to be challenged in court — that allows some illegal immigrants entry into the U.S. but forces most of the rest to wait. It’s a policy that has satisfied no one, especially groups that are agitating for open borders. About 300 of the illegals obediently marched through the streets of downtown El Paso demanding the government open the border.

Washington Examiner:

The hundreds of people camped out on individual blocks surrounding the Greyhound Bus Station and Sacred Heart Church have been moved out of eyesight by local El Paso police officers and federal Border Patrol agents, according to four law enforcement officials who spoke with the Washington Examiner on Thursday.

“The [community residents] that experienced it on a daily basis were fed up and they made it known,” a senior federal agent wrote in a text message. “Crime was getting bad and many residents were complaining. Some migrants even took over private parking lots and were charging for people to use them for parking.”

The undertaking began last week after authorities discovered several groups of people on the streets were pretending to have been released by Border Patrol but had never been arrested and were considered unlawfully present.

As for Biden’s drop-by in El Paso on his way to Mexico City, the Washington Examiner refers to the sojourn as “Biden’s Potemkin Trip to the Southern Border.”

Biden will learn nothing from his trip because he doesn’t want to learn anything. He already announced his new immigration policy Thursday, days before his trip. He is obviously going in hope of grabbing the initiative on a policy area he has botched spectacularly as he rolls out his as-yet undeclared reelection campaign

In his speech announcing an expanded parole program that grants work visas to 360,000 people a year, Biden mocked the idea that migrants were coming to the United States just to make more money.

“It’s not like people are sitting around a table somewhere in Central America and saying, ‘I got a great idea. Let’s sell everything we have. Let’s give it to a coyote, a smuggler. They’ll take us on a harrowing journey for thousands of miles to get to the United States, then we’re going to illegally cross the border.’”

Yes, Mr. President. And your point is…?

Of course, that’s why these millions of people want to come to the United States. “To find a better life” easily translates to “more money for me and my family.” And for many thousands of illegals desperate to cross the border, it’s a question of getting more government goodies.

More opportunities to succeed? Yes. A better chance to live a good life for my children? Absolutely. But with 70% of illegal border crossers being unmarried single adults, how much of this “I’m doing it for my kids” rhetoric should we believe?

Biden will be in El Paso just long enough to get two or three good visuals for the media while completely ignoring the problems his administration has caused.

Gov. Gavin Newsom, the democratic choice of the enlightened ballot harvesters of California, desperately wants to be president. Despite pledging not to run against Biden, he’s continuing to posture by announcing an “anti-Jan 6” march (whatever the hell that is) for his inauguration. The one-party governor of one of the most corrupt states in America then spent his speech ranting about Republicans in other states.

California’s unelected governor wants to reframe freedom to mean mandatory masks and car bans. Not to mention state censorship of online speech.

Freedom is slavery, slavery is freedom.

Gavin Newsom triumphantly marched toward California’s statehouse to deliver an inaugural speech that celebrated California’s freedoms and the state’s resistance to forces that “want to take the nation backward.”

“More than any people, in any place, California has bridged the historical expanse between freedom for some, and freedom for all,” he said under cloudy but dry skies for the first time in days.

“Freedom is our essence, our brand name – the abiding idea that right here anyone from anywhere can accomplish anything.”

Except for working freelance, driving a truck, buying a car, getting disposable utensils, buying a fur coat, installing a gas stove, or any of the tens of thousands of things that the Democrat one-party system has banned in some or all of the state.

You can do anything in California except open a business, walk down the street, gas up your car or buy a home. It’s the land of dreams, the hotel you check into and then escape through the back window.

California is so incredibly free that, like North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela, everyone is running away.

Gov. Newsom has the unique honor of presiding over a population loss every year in office.

“California’s population continues to dwindle. The state’s population declined by 114,000 people from about 39,143,000 in 2021 to 39,029,000 in 2020, new estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau show. It marks the third straight year that California has reported a loss.”

While Texas and Florida, the states he’s attacking, are gaining people, the only folks California is gaining are coming illegally over the border.

That and sex predators.

Unlike other states, Newsom said, California safeguards freedoms like “the freedom for teachers to teach, freedom from litmus tests about their political party or the person they love.”

California safeguards the right of teachers to “love” the kids of their choice. Republican teachers however get fired.

“They make it harder to vote and easier to buy illegal guns. They silence speech, fire teachers, kidnap migrants, subjugate women, attack the Special Olympics, and even demonize Mickey Mouse,” he said about conservative leaders like DeSantis. “All camouflaged under a hijacking of the word ‘freedom.’”

Whereas in California, Mickey Mouse can expose himself to children. Freedom!

In California, public school teachers, whose insane salaries are subsidized by property taxes no new residents can afford to pay unless they’re millionaires, can groom 9-year-olds. Freedom!

In California, vagrants and junkies have a right to camp in front of your home, but you have to wait 3 years to get a permit to have any work done. Freedom!

In California, a race riot is a civil right while trying to defend yourself against them is a crime. Freedom!

In California, shoplifting is legal, but opening a business isn’t. Freedom!

Wait, why is everyone fleeing the land of the fee and the home of the slave? Wait for the reparations. Stay for the car ban. Or the mandatory ethnic studies. And the race riots. And the tax hikes.

Two Signs of Impending Civil War in the House Speaker Imbroglio

Is America heading toward a civil war? The chasm between patriotic Americans and the Left is certainly growing all the time and shows no signs of healing. The just-concluded controversy over who would become speaker of the House contained two telling indications that the nation might be heading toward a new civil conflict or at the very least that political tensions have not been this high since the run-up to secession and the attack on Fort Sumter.

The first was the protracted battle for the speakership itself. As PJM’s Chris Queen detailed on Thursday, the multiple balloting and hot tempers surrounding the ultimate election of Kevin McCarthy to the speaker’s chair recalled the two-month fight over the speakership in 1855. The endless conflict revolved around the fact that neither pro-slavery nor anti-slavery forces would accept a speaker from the other camp, and neither had the votes to enforce its will. As Chris noted, the New York Tribune declared: “This is not a mere contest as to a Speaker of the House; it is but an incident in a long and arduous struggle which is to determine whether slavery will be the pole star of our National career.”

Ultimately a speaker was chosen, an abolitionist named Nathaniel Banks, and after all that he lasted only thirteen months in the speaker’s chair. (It will be interesting to see if Kevin McCarthy lasts that long.) But neither Banks nor anyone else managed to heal the deep divisions in American society, and the Civil War came half a decade after the speaker’s fight, which was a kind of legislative prelude to the conflict that was to come.

During the speaker’s fight we just went through, as the balloting went on, tempers flared. Victoria Taft reported Saturday that “at one point, [Rep. Matt] Gaetz [R-Fla.] and Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) ‘nearly came to blows… as frustrations exploded on Friday night in the House of Representatives, with the 14th ballot for speaker leaving Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) one vote short,’ according to The Washington Examiner.”

There was no fight on the House floor this time, but the nation came closer to seeing one than at any time since May 1856, Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts delivered a lengthy speech (it took him two days) entitled “The Crime against Kansas.” In it, he resorted to lurid imagery to make his case, saying: “Not in any common lust for power did this uncommon tragedy have its origin. It is the rape of a virgin Territory, compelling it to the hateful embrace of Slavery; and it may be clearly traced to a depraved longing for a new slave State, the hideous offspring of such a crime, in the hope of adding to the power of Slavery in the National Government.”

Sumner also mocked Sen. Andrew Butler of South Carolina in terms that strongly hinted at the widespread belief among abolitionists that slaveholders were primarily interested in their female slaves for sexual use. Southern honor was offended, although there was a great deal of truth to Sumner’s statement, and Southern honor would be avenged. On May 22, 1856, two days after Sumner completed his speech, Rep. Preston Brooks of South Carolina, Butler’s cousin, entered the Senate chamber and made for Sumner’s desk. He began beating Sumner over the head with a heavy wooden cane and did not stop when Sumner began bleeding profusely and knocked his desk loose from the floor (it was bolted down) in an attempt to get away. Brooks didn’t stop until he had broken his cane. He later recounted: “I…gave him about 30 first-rate stripes. Towards the last, he bellowed like a calf. I wore my cane out completely but saved the Head which is gold.”

Both men were hailed as heroes. Southerners inundated Brooks with canes to celebrate his attack and replace the one he had broken over Sumner’s head. The cane was not the only thing that was broken. The Union was as well. And today, it is as close as it has been since then to being broken again. We have a speaker of the House now, and we can all hope that he and his colleagues will somehow manage to bring about a better outcome, but there is no denying that we haven’t seen these things since the nation fell into a bloody four-year civil conflict. Still, maybe this time we will be blessed with history not repeating itself.

Lia Thomas did it, so why can’t Iszac Henig? Lia is the University of Pennsylvania swimmer who performed indifferently on the men’s team and then proclaimed that he was a woman. Competing on the women’s team, lo and behold, suddenly he became a championship swimmer, breaking records left and right and winning an NCAA swimming championship. It was the strength he got from being transgender and enduring bigotry and hate, right? So we should expect that Iszac Henig, who used to be a female swimmer and now says she is a male, would perform at the same stellar level, right? Well, it didn’t quite turn out that way. It turns out that in the cases of both Thomas and Henig, biological reality can’t simply be wished away.

Henig, according to OutKick, “finished the 2021-22 NCAA season as a women’s all-American while transitioning from female to male.” However, she “is now swimming on the guy’s team and is struggling mightily to not finish in last place at meets.” Why, this is dumbfounding! What could possibly account for Henig’s precipitous decline from the top of the ranks of female swimmers to a mediocre (at best) allegedly male swimmer? It must be deeply ingrained “transphobia” among the judges at swim meets, right?

Of course, it isn’t anything of the kind. The simple and obvious reason why Thomas did better competing against women and Henig did worse competing against men is that males naturally have greater upper body strength and can thus generally swim faster and farther than their female counterparts. Those who are enraged by this should take it up with God; there isn’t an authority on earth, much less a surgeon, who can redress this inequity. Thomas became a champion because he is a man competing with women. Henig became a poor swimmer because she is a woman competing against men.

It is absurd that anyone would refuse to acknowledge these realities, and just as absurd that in our ridiculous age, they have to be restated and restated again. But Henig was given lavish space in the New York Times Thursday to make her case in an article entitled “I Chose to Compete as My True, Trans Self. I Win Less, but I Live More.” The article is nearly two thousand words about the current delusions and self-deceptions, as is evident from the title itself. If Henig were competing as her true self, she would have remained on the women’s team. She wins less because of the inescapable physical realities, that is, her true self, which she is determinedly ignoring.

In her Times article, Henig recounts: “I placed fourth in the 50 free at the Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships my first season, and I was the highest point scorer on the women’s team in my sophomore year.” And “I ended up having the best swim season of my life that year on the women’s team and went mostly undefeated. I won my first individual Ivy League title in the 50 free and, at my first N.C.A.A. championship meet, placed fifth in the 100 free, earning All-America honors.”

Now she is performing at about the same level, but with vastly different results: “Now I’m a senior, swimming with the men. I’ve been taking hormones for almost eight months; my times are about the same as they were at the end of last season. Right before Thanksgiving, we finished a meet against Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and others. I wasn’t the slowest guy in any of my events, but I’m not as successful in the sport as I was on the women’s team.” Not quite: OutKick notes that she finished “79th out of 83 swimmers.” And why? Because Iszac Henig is a woman. No matter how many hormones she takes or the ghastly surgeries she undergoes, she will always be a woman. And even if technology one day advances to the point where someone like her can be given male upper body strength, people like her will still always be women.

The transgender madness, like so much of the Left’s program, is a war against reality. No one is doing Lia Thomas or Iszac Henig any favors by playing along with their delusions. Neither are heroes; Thomas is disadvantaging genuine female swimmers, and Henig is disadvantaging herself. Henig may prefer to be a third-rate male swimmer instead of a top-flight female one, but she is doing genuine males a disservice no less unmistakably than Thomas is doing genuine females a disservice. Gender identity is not really as changeable as a suit of clothes. At a certain point, people will look back upon all this madness with the horror we reserve for the likes of the Salem Witch Trials. But we aren’t there yet. Not even close.

LGBTQ+++™ Propaganda Study: Children Given Irreversible Puberty Blockers Continue Treatment Into Adulthood

A cohort study recently published in The Lancet, the bible of the biomedical establishment, found that children administered puberty blockers (euphemistically termed “gender-affirming hormones”) kept up with “therapy” into adulthood.

720 people were included, of whom 220 (31%) were assigned male at birth and 500 (69%) were assigned female at birth…

Most participants who started gender-affirming hormones in adolescence continued this treatment into adulthood. The continuation of treatment is reassuring considering the worries that people who started treatment in adolescence might discontinue gender-affirming treatment.

Of course, corporate state propaganda outlets and the study’s authors (which demonstrates the bias built into the study) spin these findings as proof that they are necessary. Why, the argument goes, should these irreversible drugs be considered harmful for children when most of the children given to them end up using them in adulthood?

Marianne van der Loos, a physician at Amsterdam UMC’s Center for Expertise on Gender Dysphoria, is the paper’s lead author.

“I think it’s an important finding because we see that most of these people continue to use gender-affirming hormones,” van der Loos tells NPR.

But really what this study shows is that in-group social pressure and inertia exist, which should already have been obvious.

Humans are creatures of habit. Once we start down a certain path as children and our neural pathways are imprinted with a newfound “gender identity” affirmed and re-affirmed and re-affirmed by trusted authority figures, this becomes the default mode of being.

As a coping mechanism, people also reflexively hesitate to admit that they were conned. Imagine how difficult it would be for an 18-year-old, or even a 25-year-old, who had their natural puberty artificially and irreversibly suppressed and who built their entire identity around their “transgender” ideology, to come to terms with the depth of their deception?

On top of that, there are the in-group social pressures to conform to the hivemind that accompany the physical transition. The “trans” subculture (heavy on the “cult” portion) is notoriously intolerant of any of its members straying even two inches off the plantation. Detransitioners are immediately shunned.

The Big Pharma profiteers and the social engineering activists, who work in tandem, understand all of this basic human psychology, of course, which is why they are obsessed with getting to children as early as possible.

It’s frankly a miracle that any young adult could muster the courage to face the music. The ones who do deserve to be celebrated and elevated.
