National Archives: The Founding Documents Are Not 'Charters of Freedom'

Earlier this month, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) released a report on combatting the “institutional racism” at the National Archives. The report represents the creeping invasion of institutional woke-ism, complete with calls for a new lexicon to push “anti-racist terminology” and a permanent bureaucracy to pay woke activists make sure NARA doesn’t fall back into its institutionally racist ways.

Yet perhaps the worst part of the National Archives report involves “reimagining” the National Archives rotunda in order to root out “institutional racism.” Specifically, the NARA report claims that the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights are not by themselves “Charters of Freedom,” so the National Archives must retire that phrase or change it.

“Racism is embedded in the history and current practices of NARA,” the report insists. “Dismantling such structural racism will require vast changes to NARA’s work culture at every level as well as an ongoing and active commitment [sic] to anti-racist work throughout [sic] the agency’s future.”

The document lists many recommendations to root out “systemic racism,” including an initiative to “Reimagine the Rotunda.” The project aims to “recontextualize” the “murals and architectural elements” and to install a new exhibition in order to “create a more inclusive and historically accurate tribute to the nation’s founding.”

Some of the concrete recommendations are innocent enough. The report notes that when architect John Russell Pope designed the National Archives Rotunda, he included four niches in the walls “likely intended to be filled with sculptural figures.” The report rightly notes that “these empty spaces are ready-made platforms for new memorials,” which could celebrate women, Native Americans, and blacks who contributed to the Founding.

The report also suggests including documents alongside the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights in order to highlight the complexities of American history. While some of the report’s suggestions may raise objections, this basic idea seems rather fitting for the Rotunda.

Yet the report does not just fault the Rotunda for failing to include tributes to racial minorities and women — it also attacks the very idea that the Rotunda should be a shrine to the founding documents.

“Architect John Russell Pope designed the National Archives Rotunda as a shrine to the founding documents of the United States. Its neoclassical architecture ties American democracy to the ideals of Ancient Greece and Rome. The oculus, marble columns, bronze medallions, and other architectural elements speak of significance, permanence, and security,” the report notes.

The report claims that the Rotunda’s view of history is a product of the 1930s. “Its reverential, quasi-religious treatment of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights does not adequately reflect a full history of the founding of the United States. And as we are learning through the comments of staff and visitors, some find the Rotunda’s language and imagery exclusionary,” the report claims.

NADA cites a survey in which “one respondent commented that it is tone-deaf and oblivious to use the term ‘Charters of Freedom’ to refer to ‘documents that institutionalized slavery.’ Another reported a Black senior congressional staffer rejected the term outright. ‘Those aren’t my Charters of Freedom,’ he said.”

“For him and many others, these documents represent the entrenchment of chattel slavery, denial of rights to women, and triumph of European colonists over the original inhabitants of North America,” the report claims.

For these reasons, “the Archives must either retire the expression ‘Charters of Freedom’ or expand its meaning to encompass additional documents (like the Reconstruction Amendments, 19th Amendment, and Civil and Voting Rights Acts) and display them with equal honor and reverence.”

By issuing this recommendation, NARA uncritically accepts these negative assessments of the Declaration and the Constitution. The report also suggests that a “Charter of Freedom” must be a perfect document.

Yet this is not the case. The Declaration of Independence is a “Charter of Freedom” even though it did not apply that freedom to everyone equally. The Constitution can still be a “Charter of Freedom” even though it also allowed the institution of slavery to continue.

As Martin Luther King Jr. declared in his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, “When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.”

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are not just practical documents of their time — they are aspirational documents laying out the principles of liberty.

Yes, the Founders allowed slavery to continue. However, they notably excluded the phrases “slave” and “slavery” from the Constitution, as if in a nod to the fact that slavery itself contradicts the spirit of the Founding. The Founders also excluded slavery from the Northwest Territory in the Northwest Ordinance, one of the very first laws in the new United States.

Even one of the most demonized aspects of the Constitution — the Three-Fifths Compromise — illustrates the Founders’ struggle to limit the power of slavery and slave-holders. Many detractors have claimed that the Constitution considered black people to only count as three-fifths of a person, but that is false. Slaves — referenced in the Constitution as “those bound to service for a Term of Years” — counted as three-fifths for purposes of representation.

Slave-holding states wanted to count not just free people but also slaves for purposes of representation. This would artificially pad their numbers since slaves did not get to vote for their representatives. Had slaves counted as a full person for purposes of representation, that would have given slave states more power in the federal government.

Many activists and educators, inspired by Marxist critical race theory (CRT) twist history in this way, claiming that the founding documents and the institutions they created are inherently racist.

Unfortunately, this demonization runs through the NARA document — specifically in the Rotunda section.

For the Rotunda, the document suggests some brow-beating exhibits along these lines. NARA recommends that the Rotunda include an “elucidation of references to slavery in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the slaveholding interests of many of the founders, and compromises to appease Southern States” next to the founding documents for perspective. Alternately, NARA recommends an “invitation to discuss and reflect on contradictions inherent in the soaring rhetoric of the time and the reality of the experiences of those who were not White men of property.”

The NARA document also includes positive recommendations: stories about the potential positive influence of the Iroquois Confederacy’s democratic principles on the Founding; acknowledgement of opposition to slavery at the time of the American Revolution and black slaves’ struggles toward freedom; and a celebration of individuals like Frederick Douglass, Ida B. Wells, and Susan B. Anthony.

These positive recommendations, like the idea of including iconic black, Native American, or female heroes in the Rotunda niches, arguably fit the reverent atmosphere, which is extremely fitting for the aspirational founding documents.

Yet the negative exhibits, the idea of striking “Charters of Freedom” from the founding documents, and a few other recommendations amount to an insult to the Founders and an attack on the very idea of treating the Founding with reverence.

The document seriously recommends that the National Archives Rotunda “stage dance or performance art in the space that invites dialogue about the ways that the United States has mythologized the founding era.”

The National Archives Rotunda can honor the contributions of black, Native American, and female Americans without demonizing the Founders or destroying the Rotunda’s reverent atmosphere. Sadly, the NARA report threatens to destroy the Rotunda in the name of diversity.

The report acknowledges that “Reimagining the Rotunda will stir controversy” and it recommends that the National Archives “present the project as a means of adding to, rather than repudiating, the celebration of the nation’s origins.”

Yet the overemphasis on race and trumped-up claims of “institutional racism” reveal just how hollow that messaging truly is. The report suggests that a staff member was right to say that “the Rotunda ‘should ideally connect all Americans to NARA and the history of the U.S., not just white Americans,'” as if only people who ostensibly share the skin color of the Founders can celebrate the Founding.

In one of the best examples of how far and twisted the left’s manic loathing for America has gone, the 26th U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt will be canceled.

Roosevelt ushered in the 20th Century as one of America’s most energetic and greatest contributors to the success, and preservation of the United States. He is generally regarded as one of the United States five best Presidents.

This is no small-fry Confederate General or Freemasonic Klansman statue we are talking about.

The decision has been made for TR to be canceled as his embattled statue representing the preservation and exploration of the American frontier as it entered the 20th Century is set to be removed, for reasons imagined by the Marxist leanings of the race-obsessed left.

The New York Times reported, “The New York City Public Design Commission voted unanimously…to relocate the bronze effigy of the nation’s 26th president that has stood at the Upper West Side institution since 1940.”

The victim culture’s crazed vague interpretation of the monument depicts Theodore Roosevelt on horseback with an African man and a Native American man moving forward with him as supposedly glorifying white supremacy, colonialism and racism. Because it would be impossible for the braindead woke mob to see it for the symbolism that it really is.

Teddy Roosevelt, who founded the progressive party, was an outspoken defender of women’s rights, an early champion of civil rights and equality for black and Native Americans during the early 20th century; his personal relationship with Booker T. Washington and his appointment of Minnie Cox as the first black regional postmaster in the United States backs that up. 

But that won’t stop the cancer eating away at the American Identity, assuming that all white men are greedy evil racist bastards and deserve to have any monument of themselves torn down, regardless of their contributions to humankind during a completely separate period in history.

James Earle Fraser, the sculptor of the statue, stated, “The two figures at [Roosevelt’s] side are guides symbolizing the continents of Africa and America, and if you choose may stand for Roosevelt’s friendliness to all races.”A sentiment intensely evident when TR said  “To divide along the lines of section or caste or creed is un-American.

But try and tell that to the woke offspring of Teddy Roosevelt, who agree that the statue should be removed. Either they are incapable of understanding their great grandfather’s legacy or they are too cowardly to defend it, and it deserves defending.

Teddy Roosevelt broke up the Railroad and Beef trusts, met the Coal Strike of 1902 head-on, reinvented foreign policy. He was the first American to receive the Nobel Peace Prize after negotiating peace between Russia and Japan. He reinvented Football. He set aside more Federal land for national parks and nature preserves than all of his predecessors combined.

He established the US Forest Service, signed into law the creation of 5 National Parks and established the first 51 Bird Reserves and 150 National Forests. And he was wise enough to foresee the ungluing of America much like the founding fathers did saying, “The one absolutely certain way to bring this nation to ruin … would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.

Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest President in U.S. history and under the nose of the oldest President in U.S. history: the bumbling, groping, do-nothing foreign shill and 40-year career politician Joe Biden, nothing will be done to protect TR’s legacy, a legacy all Americans need to understand.

In fact, Teddy’s words loom over the Biden administration like a specter when he said, “That no man is above the law and no man below it.”

It isn’t merely a statue that will be moved to another home. The attack on the vital American spirit that Teddy Roosevelt represents is the ultimate price we will pay for our subjugation to apathy.

In a Massachusetts town: How parents are fighting – and winning – a brutal fight with school officials over aggressive LGBT middle school agenda.

Graphic library books. Staff persuading kids they are “transgender” while keeping parents in the dark. And more. Most people have no idea how radical this agenda is – or of the contempt that school officials have for parents who disagree.  But with MassResistance’s help, these parents are succeeding.

(Part I of a multi-part series over the next several days.)

The Baird Middle School in Ludlow, MA, has become an unsafe place for parents to send their children.

It’s happening in more places than people realize.

Ludlow is a town of about 21,000 in central Massachusetts. The people are relatively conservative. It’s a tight community. Many of the families also speak Portuguese or Polish and have lived there for generations. People have always been happy to send their children to the local public schools.

But in late 2019, parents at the Baird Middle School (where the kids are ages 11-13) were shocked at the militant LGBT agenda they started seeing. The more they found out, the worse they realized it was.

Here we give a brief overview of what happened. In the upcoming installments, we will include the shocking and outrageous details. It is important to realize just how depraved many school personnel are and how horrible their agenda is. And it’s frightening how viciously the school officials – from the School Board and Superintendent on down – behave toward parents who challenge this. But it’s also important to know that they can be beaten.

The pornographic books

The school had hired a “transgender” school librarian (a weird woman who dressed as a man). Very graphic, explicit homosexual and transgender-themed books appeared on the library shelves, and several were prominently displayed. Many of the books encouraged kids to experiment with LGBT behaviors, as well as other sexual activities. A teacher observed that a boy began fondling himself after reading one of the books during class.

Subverting and attacking parents

A group of parents began coming to School Board meetings to complain about the books. But they were treated harshly and disrespectfully. They were told they were interfering with “diversity.” They were handed a list of bureaucratic steps to follow if they wanted the officials to consider removing the books. But the Superintendent insisted that the books were completely appropriate.

At one point, the School Board moved their meeting to a gymnasium so that a crowd of local left-wing teachers and LGBT activists could come and intimidate the parents with vicious name-calling.

The Massachusetts chapter of American Library Association (ALA) even got involved, apparently at the instigation of the school librarian. They told the School Board that the books are “entirely appropriate” for fifth-graders, and warned the Board that removing the books would constitute an abridgement of the “intellectual freedom” of the children.

The teacher who stood up for parents

One of the teachers, a Christian, was a true hero. This woman revealed several of the books to the parents and helped them understand what the children were exposed to in the library. For doing that, other staff members harassed and tried to intimidate her. They even tried to press harassment charges against her. But she stood tall and would not cave in.

The teacher also revealed that there had been bizarre sexual posters put up just outside the school library, but they had been removed when it was feared that parents walking through the school might see them.

These are a few of the posters that were put up just outside of the Baird Middle School Library - apparently by the librarian - but were soon taken down.

The hardcore “transgender” agenda

When COVID hit, parents found out that on days when students were allowed to go into the school, there were occasional strange pro-LGBT one-and-one sessions between school staff members and some of the more vulnerable kids. The kids were given pornography and links to “transgender” YouTube videos.

Teachers and counselors secretly began pushing the concept of “preferred pronouns” to the children (i.e., using “him” for a girl or “her” for a boy – or some other invented pronoun). From there, if a student “felt” like the opposite sex, the staff would persuade the child to use an opposite-sex name while in school. Other students and staff were also told to address the child by that name. All of this was purposely kept hidden from the child’s parents as well as other parents.

But thanks to that Christian teacher, parents were starting to find out. And they were outraged. That’s when they asked MassResistance to step in and help them. We began organizing them for action. Among other things, they began exposing this to other people in town and demanding that the perpetrators be fired.

When that teacher informed one of the fathers that both of his middle school children were now using opposite-sex names and receiving “transgender’ counseling in the school, he was livid. He confronted the school officials. At first, they refused to meet with him and the mother, but finally, they relented. (MassResistance accompanied him to a meeting with the Superintendent, who basically stonewalled and tried to defend the staff’s actions.)

A major victory

But we helped the parents keep up the pressure. The outrage against the school intensified. (And the parent now has lawyers getting involved.)

In early May 2021, the librarian announced she was resigning. A few weeks later, the Superintendent announced he was resigning. This is a huge victory! And there are rumors that the school principal is looking for another job.

In retaliation: The teacher is fired, and more

But the remaining school officials are angrier than ever. Before leaving, the Superintendent had the Christian teacher formally fired, which has incensed the parents even more. (She now has a lawyer!) And the School Board has started a vile salvo of invective against the parents, demeaning and degrading them (and MassResistance) before the community. What’s more, a small group of local leftist zealots is supporting the School Board by attacking the parents on social media.

More happening

The battle in Ludlow is continuing to boil. The parents will continue to pursue their goal to get the LGBT agenda out of the school – and the other ringleaders on the staff removed. The next few months are probably going to be ugly.

Racist Mayor: Ted Wheeler OF PORTLAND, OREGON

Mayor Ted Wheeler of Portland is one of those sinewy male types who look as though they could live to be 100.  His biography states that he loves any type of physical challenge: swimming laps, running half marathons, participating in triathlons, and Iron Man contests. Not only that, but the 6 foot 59-year-old has climbed and reached the summit of Mount Everest and doesn’t let being mayor keep him from taking quick swims in Portland’s Willamette River. His picturesque Oregonian boyhood included hiking, camping, and climbing local peaks, further proof, as if any was needed, that his favorite sort of challenge is the one-on-one variety--- or doing things his way.   

Wheeler’s fondness for no-contact athletics indicates a loner personality, so it comes as no surprise when in December 2018, just one year into his first term as mayor, Willamette Week, Portland’s newspaper, noted: “No man is an island, but Ted Wheeler looks marooned.”  Of course, he looks marooned. When you look a little deeper into the man’s bio, you realize that this a man who thinks he can do it all by himself, from climbing Everest to tackling triathlons, so it’s quite unlikely that he’s going to ask for help from teammates that do not exist.  

Wheeler was Oregon’s state treasurer from 2010 to 2016 prior to running for mayor. This experience caused him to be called a “pragmatic executive who challenges the status quo when the politics are on his side.” (Read this sentence twice for full effect.) As state treasurer, he supported a reform of the state’s retirement system and went against his fellow Democrats when he challenged plans for a new Interstate 5 bridge.

Fast forward to 2021, when Wheeler’s mayoral “marathon” had reached a crisis point with critics pointing out that he was “trying to do too much, and do it on his own terms.”

 During his first year as mayor, the Willamette reported on the existence of “Extremist groups [that] regularly brawled in Portland streets at the behest of Joey Gibson, an unemployed Washington real estate broker who leads a right-wing group called Patriot Prayer.” The news insinuated that Patriot Prayer was a serious threat to urban peace and tranquility when in fact it was mostly a paper tiger with a “right-wing extremist’ label stuck on it by so-called anti-fascist groups who were really fascists themselves.  In 2020 this fact would be made plainly clear when the so-called anti-fascists held the city hostage for the better part of a year, subjecting it to nightly riots and wide-scale destruction.

The most dramatic confrontation between Patriot Prayer and the left occurred on August 29, 2020, when a mile-long caravan of what the media termed “far-right activists” entered Portland to confront BLM and Antifa thugs who were destroying downtown Portland. During that melee, Antifa activist Michael Reinoehl shot and killed Aaron “Jay” Danielson, a caravan participant.  Reinoehl was later shot and killed by Portland police when he drew a gun while resisting arrest. 

Portland, the first U.S. city to lose its mind after the death of George Floyd, became the protest-riot role model for other cities across the nation.  Prior to the Floyd riots, there had been lighter skirmishes (and talk of skirmishes) in Portland between Patriot Prayer groups and left-wing protesters  that “frightened the city, frustrated downtown business owners and seemed to baffle the mayor—who tried repeatedly to bar Gibson's group from gathering.”

“The mayor did nothing to create these protests, but he seems ill-equipped to address them,” the newspaper cautioned in 2017.

This may have had something to do with Portland’s so-called “polite political way,” or its more or less relaxed attitude of letting “everything be” until the Apocalyptic 11th hour.

The period after Danielson’s murder was perhaps the darkest time for Wheeler. That’s when he found himself in the murky mist of a Faustian bargain he had made with leftists. He felt an obligation to coddle them and not go out of his way to offend them. Many Democratic mayors across the nation behaved in a similar manner but none gave them as much leeway as Wheeler.   

Portland is politically ‘woke’ in the extreme. One only has to check the city’s website, especially Meet the Mayor’s Team, to get a sense of the orthodoxy. Under each staff member’s name, you’ll find a list of their preferred pronouns. Ironically, out of the entire staff of 22, only one staffer deviates from traditional gender roles, listing themselves as they/them/theirs, suggesting that the rule for the whole was made for the sake of one.  A few staff members, however, in a display of common sense, ignore the pronoun category altogether by allowing only their names to indicate their biological gender.

"There was the hope he [Wheeler] would be the grown-up in the room," Jim Pasero, a conservative political consultant, told the Willamette in  2018. "I think he strategically when he got elected, decided to take a deep dive into the progressive end of the pool. But he is an MBA and a state treasurer, so I'm not sure it was a natural fit for him."

As mayor, Wheeler kept police from shutting down an Antifa blockade of federal immigration officers. He ignored the exponential growth of homeless camps throughout the city. Portland Downtown Clean & Safe, the city’s 7-day a week cleaning crew, reported that in Wheeler’s second year as mayor 39,000 hypodermic needles were picked up throughout the city, a marked increase from previous years. As a mayoral candidate, Wheeler promised a tenant’s bill of rights, radical police reform that included the “demilitarization” of the department, and the addition of body cameras on officers.  Wheeler’s ambitious leftist “marathon” also included plans to provide bed shelters for every homeless person in the city (Wheeler would later insist that he never meant that every homeless person would be sheltered.)  

When running for mayor, Wheeler wanted very much to win the hearts and minds of the city’s progressive community.

By October 2020, after the brunt of the George Floyd riots kept Portland burning for weeks, the National Police Association headlined a story: “Ted Wheeler Never Lets an Opportunity Pass to Put Portland in Danger.” For five days during the worst of the riots, the mayor was absolutely silent. Then, in September 2020, when the U’S. Marshals Service deputized members of the Oregon State Police, in effect allowing them to charge rioters with arrest under the federal imprint ( guaranteeing stiffer penalties), yet Multnomah District Attorney Mike Schmidt refused to prosecute rioters. Wheeler, rather than raise a voice in protest, kept silent. What had been the proper legal course of action in US cities when it came to convicting rioters was now discarded like Wheeler’s old running shoes because George Floyd riots were somehow different. The latest activist slogan said it all:  “No justice, no peace.”

While Wheeler condemned the violence in Portland during the worst of the riots, his words of condemnation never translated into action. Each condemnation, in fact, seemed to spew another cycle of burnings and lawlessness, so that many began to ask:  What is Ted Wheeler waiting for? Wheeler was waiting for the crisis to pass, for the Antifa, BLM, and the dressed-in-black Ninja gas mask-wearing street thugs to grow bored and go home, even though it seemed like they were winning the race.

In his naiveté, Wheeler did not realize (or want to admit) that Left Progressive movements tend to become more radical as time goes by and then, like a dog eating its own tail, turn back on those followers who don’t “catch up” in a cannibalistic frenzy.  Wheeler suddenly felt caught in the backlash.

In June 2021 The New York Times ran a story—“After Nearly a Year of Unrest, Portland Leaders Peruse a Crackdown”-- about a Portland resident who toured the city every day in tears at what the rioters had destroyed. The article told the story of how the Oregon Historical Society had its windows smashed two times by rioters who then wrote: “No More History” on the building’s walls.

“Portland was a beautiful city,” said Ms. Carter, who was the first Black woman elected to the Oregon Legislative Assembly and is now retired. “Now you walk around and see all the graffiti, buildings being boarded up. I get sick to my stomach. And I get angry.”  (New York Times)

An Antifa-sympathizing activist community group responded to the concern over the Oregon Historical Society by saying how the activists (rioters) “were intent on saving lives, while city leaders are focused on saving windows.”    

In August 2020, Mayor Wheeler who was finally fed up with the daily violence and burnings gave a televised speech imploring the leftist rioters in the city to take stock of their actions.

“Many of the residents of our mostly white city,” he said, “have exercised their free speech rights to peacefully protest structural racism in a way that makes me proud to be a Portlander, but these crises have also created an opening for violent extremists, to do harm to our city, to scare our downtown employers late at night, to wreak havoc in an effort to drain city resources, not in an effort to reinvest them….Rising up to destroy structural racism is a noble cause, pulling people from their vehicles and beating them in the streets is a horrific violent crime…”  

Wheeler called on all city residents to start talking about ending the violence, to “virtually link arms” while remembering that “We can do better.” This oatmeal milquetoast plea, however, did not win the heart of rioters. His admission that “I take personal responsibility for not being here earlier, not finding ways to address these important issues,” is an ‘oft-repeated political form of address and apology, a kind of Pepto Bismol cure-all to make sure you still stay in the public’s good graces.

It was, as they say, a “Kumbaya” moment and coming long after the horses had already left the stable, but not long before the mayor himself would begin to be a target for the cannibalistically-inclined street lefties.  The mayor’s television address also put into perspective his first worry when he took office in 2017: that an obscure right-wing group called Prayer Patriots posed an extremely dangerous threat for the city, a laughable comparison that today seems very close to insane.

Once the mania for rioting and burning takes hold, it’s there for the long haul.  Portland’s violent protests continued long after the George Floyd protests in other cities died out, and despite the mayor’s having committed $12 million to Black and Brown communities, previously slated for the police department. “I’m also directing all City bureaus in my portfolio to develop strategies to better serve Black communities,” the mayor is quoted as saying on the city’s Racial Justice site.

Wheeler has been confronted several times in restaurants by disgruntled leftists. Eater magazine reported that while dining out at a Northwest Bamboo Sushi location, he was accosted by a protestor shouting, “You gas children in their homes,” a reference to Portland police using tear gas on Black Lives Matter protesters. One time the mayor was forced to pepper-spray a stranger when the latter insisted he was violating social distancing rules. In January 2021 a group of protesters interrupted the mayor’s meal at Café Nell.

The Oregonian in June 2021 reported on a Total Recall campaign organized by activists who fault the mayor for the city’s “police response during months of racial justice protests.” (The city’s police response, if anything, was too little too late.) The newspaper quoted Athul Acharya, a civil rights attorney with the ACLU of Oregon, who stated: “Portlanders deserve better than a mayor who spent the summer tear-gassing his own residents.”

The mayor has also had to deal with leftists who have smashed windows and set fires inside his condo building.

But isn’t this what you get when you make a Faustian deal with the left?

Wheeler, who was re-elected for another term in November 2020, describes the people attacking him and engaging in criminal destruction as “middle-age to young white men…who should be arrested, investigated and prosecuted.”

“They want to burn, they want to bash, they want to intimidate, they want to assault,” the Washington Post reported Wheeler saying in April 2021. ‘Our job is to unmask them, arrest them and prosecute them,’ he said, asking the public to contact the police and provide them with information about the rioters, write down their license plate numbers or film them when they commit acts of vandalism.”

Sadly, Ted Wheeler’s epiphany has come too late.

“Wheeler, the über-progressive, who made a national reputation last year by apologizing for vandals and rioters he said were merely exercising their right to protest against an unjust America. Now he’s had an epiphany, after his indulgence has made parts of Portland a battle zone, The Wall Street Journal reported in April 2021.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Anti-Indoctrination in schools Legislation

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed education legislation this week designed to teach the truth about America’s history and the evils of totalitarian ideologies.

The three different pieces of legislation – House Bill 5HB 233, and Senate Bill 1108 – will teach children about the Constitution, as well as  giving them an understanding of the “evils of communism and totalitarian ideologies.” Also, the bills require the State Board of Education “to conduct an annual assessment on intellectual freedom & viewpoint diversity.” Also, young learners will need to “pass a specified assessment to demonstrate competency in civic literacy.”

During a must-see press conference (watch below), DeSantis explained:

“The sad reality is that only two in five Americans can correctly name the three branches of government, and more than a third of Americans cannot name any of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. It is abundantly clear that we need to do a much better job of educating our students in civics to prepare them for the rest of their lives.”

DeSantis continued:

“We have a number of people in Florida, particularly southern Florida, who’ve escaped totalitarian regimes, who’ve escaped communist dictatorships to be able to come to America,” DeSantis said. “We want all students to understand the difference: Why would somebody flee across shark-infested waters, say, leaving from Cuba to come to southern Florida? Why would somebody leave a place like Vietnam? Why would people leave these countries and risk their life to be able to come here? It’s important students understand that.”

With a curriculum like that, children will be much better equipped to ward off the creeping communist ideology infecting universities across the country.

Pathologist Tackles Taboo Covid Topics: Are Vaccinated People Dangerous? Is Magnet Phenomenon Real?

Genuine research without an agenda is a casualty in this highly partisan climate.

Renowned pathologist Dr. Roger Hodkinson joined RAIR Foundation USA to discuss some of the more controversial aspects of the Wuhan coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2. While certain issues are taboo, they are nonetheless in the public sphere and should be addressed.

Dr. Hodkinson’s impressive credentials are listed here. He has been a vocal critic of the measures ostensibly taken to thwart the coronavirus, including the vaccine. In today’s climate of extreme propaganda, Hodkinson’s knowledgeable voice has been a rare beacon of honesty.

The pathologist starts by explaining that the taboo subjects to be addressed during the interview are “two very controversial issues,” that are “easy to dismiss as ridiculously stupid,” but he explains that “there is a kernel of truth in both of them.”

Can Vaccinated People Harm Non-Vaccinated People?

During the powerful interview, Dr. Hodkinson explained the concept of “contagious vaccinosis.” The phrase applies to “people who have not been vaccinated in the close, extended proximity of people who have been vaccinated.”

“Contagious vaccinosis” applies largely to women “who claim that their menstrual periods have changed,” Dr. Hodkinson explained. Similarly, menopausal women may mention that their cycles started again. While the issue applies mainly to women, some men claim to have “testicular pain,” the pathologist stated.

As always throughout this interview, Dr. Hodkinson stressed the importance of relaying facts based on evidence. To understand “contagious vaccinosis,” one must understand how vaccines themselves work and how some people may respond to those vaccines.

“We do know that the whole intent of these vaccines is to produce in the body with your own cellular machinery,” he said, “something called the ‘spike protein,’ which are those sharp things that you see sticking out of the virus when you see images of the Covid-19,” the doctor explained. “So the vaccine is intended to produce amounts of spike protein, which are then presented to your immune system to react to, to give you immunity to future infection.”

Consider that “most biological functions follow” the “bell-shaped curve,” or the idea that some people handle treatments well, some handle them poorly, and most are somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, in the case of the vaccine, those who will have a negative outcome cannot be anticipated.

With this in mind, Dr. Hodkinson illustrated how those on the poor end of the bell curve would negatively handle the vaccine:

“Some people are at the extreme end of that range and produce an enormous amount of spike protein that cannot be mopped up by the very lymphoid system, which is the whole intent. There’s just too much of it being produced – and therefore it escapes into the general circulation and that has been shown to be actually the fact that it does escape and has been identified. That’s where you get into all these problems with thromboses and other issues.”

Now, Dr. Hodkinson introduces a study conducted ironically by scientists based in Wuhan, China. In that study, researchers found that the excess spike protein could escape from the skin in sweat glands and become aerosolized, which could be transferred by inhalation. He stresses that the study addresses the “infection itself, not the vaccine.”

So, hypothetically, could perspiration be a method of transference in the case of vaccinated people? And if so, could evaporated sweat allow spike proteins to be aerosolized, potentially infecting unvaccinated people? Dr. Hodkinson stresses that he is only searching for a “path” to explain how contagious vaccinosis may work.

“I want to emphasize that’s not being shown to be the case,” he said. “It’s not been proven, but I’m trying to find here is a path whereby these effects may be explained,” the pathologist continued. Dr. Hodkinson is strictly laying out a possible scenario that needs to be studied. Sadly, genuine research without an agenda is often a casualty in this highly partisan climate.

What’s up with those Magnet videos?

A good indicator that an issue is worthy of exploration is whether the mainstream media refers to it as a “conspiracy theory.” The Lab Leak theory of the origin of the coronavirus is a perfect example of this phenomenon.

In the case of the magnet videos, Dr. Roger Hodkinson said his initial reaction was, “This has got to be fake.” But as in the case of women expressing concern about their menstrual cycles after taking the vaccine, there are too many personal testimonials to ignore.

After reviewing the literature, Hodkinson said, it becomes “very clear that for many years there’s been a delivery technology…in which there has been an attempt to deliver magnetic particles inside lipid envelopes together with potentially therapeutic agents to direct them to a source – a site where you might want to have them concentrated by applying an external magnetic field to – to that particular site.”

The pathologist continues to say that it has been “a very well described technology.” The magnetic particles, in fact, have been given a name: “superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs).”

While it is not clear whether this “SPION” technology is associated with the current vaccines, Dr. Hodkinson makes clear that this is part of the problem. “We just don’t know what’s in this stuff,” he said. “They’ve been very secretive,” he continued.

Can the CDC be trusted?

The conversation briefly touched on a shocking story from 2014, in which the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) allegedly destroyed evidence linking autism to the MMR vaccine in black boys. The question is, of course, “can we trust the CDC in the midst of this crisis?” Dr. Hodkinson asked.

The Delta Variant

On the Delta Variant, which has been used to justify continued lockdowns in Canada, Dr. Hodkinson gave a podcast called The Fat Emperor with Ivor Cummings a shout-out. Hodkinson stated that Cummings is “very thorough” and believes that the so-called “Delta Variant” is actually the “Indian Variant,” which is “simply being renamed.”

If this is the case, the pathologist continued, “it’s yet another example of driving fear intentionally, manipulating fear instead of assuaging fear and helping people make sense of all this. That’s disgusting, in my opinion.”

Can the World Health Organization be trusted?

Dr. Hodkinson expressed disdain for the World Health Organization (WHO), which he said: “cannot be trusted.” Operatives from the Chinese Communist Party are “pulling the strings” at WHO, as confirmed by Dr. Hodkinson and previously reported at RAIR.

CDC, FDA prepare mass distribution of a Merck/Sanofi six-in-one vaccine for kids, turning blind eye to safety signals

(Natural News) Since the mid-1980s, the number of childhood shots on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccine schedule has more than quadrupled. When parents express reluctance about turning their little ones into perpetual pin cushions, drug makers and doctors have a ready answer — combination vaccines that “simplify” the schedule by decreasing the number of injections administered.

This month marks the U.S. launch of the Merck/Sanofi joint-venture vaccine, Vaxelis, a six-in-one (hexavalent) combination vaccine that contains diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP) components as well as components said to protect against polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and hepatitis B.

Public health officials optimistically believe that bundling all of these components into one shot will help close noncompliance loopholes and increase the likelihood that children will complete “all recommended vaccinations.”

Though Vaxelis is the nation’s first hexavalent injection, it joins other four- or five-in-one vaccines already on the CDC schedule. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Vaxelis in late 2018 — as a three-dose series for 2-, 4- and 6-month-old infants — but it is only now, two-and-a-half years later, that the shot is being readied for widespread distribution.

There are numerous warning signs that potent all-in-one vaccines are too much for immature immune systems to handle. Concerning safety signals have emerged not just for hexavalent but also pentavalent (five-in-one) vaccines.

In Europe, where infants have been given hexavalent vaccines for some years (including Vaxelis since 2016), the formulations have produced many troubling reports of sudden infant death.

Absurdly, none of the clinical studies assessing Vaxelis safety and efficacy conducted fair comparisons against an inert placebo. Instead, in the two U.S. clinical trials for Vaxelis, not only did investigators compare infants receiving Vaxelis to babies who received Sanofi’s five-in-one Pentacel — but babies in both groups also received rotavirus and pneumococcal vaccines at the same time!

In this context, the CDC’s sales pitch to the public — and its claims that side effects are “usually mild” — cannot be considered credible.

Here are some of the other facts missing from the CDC’s communications:

  • In the two U.S. trials six infants died (slide #27) in the Vaxelis group (some after receiving just one dose); one infant also died in the “control” group that received five-in-one vaccines.
  • All six Vaxelis recipients died within six weeks of vaccination. This timing matches other published accounts of infant deaths “clustering” following hexavalent vaccination.
  • The reported causes of death for the infants who received Vaxelis included asphyxia, sepsis, fluid in the brain and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). These outcomes correspond to the types of adverse events reported following hexavalent vaccination in Europe.
  • Package inserts for other vaccines on the CDC schedule list similar causes of death, suggesting these fatal Vaxelis outcomes are plausibly associated with vaccination.
  • In the clinical trials, the rate of fever was notably higher in Vaxelis recipients even when compared to children receiving five-in-one vaccines (47% vs. 34%).

Juicing vaccine sales

In the no-liability context enjoyed by vaccine makers in the U.S., combination vaccines are already quite popular. In fact, market watchers and health economists praise the jumbo shots as being a catalyst for positive industry trends and a “key to commercial success.”

Thus, financial analysts expect Vaxelis to “garner significant patient share following its [U.S.] launch” — predicting that it will account for almost a third of U.S. DTaP vaccinations by 2028 — or $841 million in annual sales.

These predictions represent good news for Merck and Sanofi, two of the “big four” pharma giants that dominate the childhood vaccine market in the United States. Merck is already doing a booming vaccine business, recently reporting annual sales growth of 14.8% for its pneumococcal vaccine (Pneumovax 23) and 5.4% for its human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil-9.

However, Merck also faces proliferating Gardasil-related lawsuits — including legal actions alleging that the company knew about and ignored life-changing adverse events from the get-go, many of which (when not fatal) have involved autoimmunity and chronic pain. In fact, before the advent of emergency use COVID vaccines (responsible for an alarming escalation of vaccine-related adverse events), Gardasil had had “more side effects reported than all other vaccines combined.”

Sanofi, too, is embroiled in thousands of lawsuits worldwide — notably for its disastrous and sometimes fatal dengue vaccine. As with Merck, this has not dampened overall vaccine sales growth, which continues its strong upward trajectory, likely to be further strengthened by the U.S. Vaxelis rollout.

Although Sanofi has not been a front-runner in the COVID vaccine race, the company is currently running clinical trials for messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines for both COVID and seasonal influenza.

Aluminum secrecy and grandfathered ingredients

Merck’s proprietary, “super-powered” aluminum adjuvant — amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate (AAHS) — which is believed to play a significant role in Gardasil’s risk profile, is also present in Vaxelis.

After Merck developed AAHS, it began to “preferentially” feature AAHS in its vaccines even though, as Danish scientists outlined last year, the company appears to have disregarded procedures ordinarily required for approval of new adjuvants.

According to the Danes, at the time AAHS appeared, it represented a “new type of aluminium adjuvant with excipients that [had] not been used earlier in [European Medicines Agency] authorized vaccines.” It should have been — but apparently was not — tested against an inert placebo. For this and other reasons, the Danish scientists question the ethical underpinnings of the Gardasil clinical trials.

In noting that Merck also “seems to have prevented independent studies of AAHS,” the Danes repeated a critique aired by world-famous aluminum expert Christopher Exley in 2018. In an extensive discussion of different aluminum-based adjuvants and their immunological mechanisms of action, Exley and co-authors emphasized the importance of studying aluminum adjuvants one by one, as each is “chemically and biologically dissimilar with concomitantly potentially distinct roles in vaccine-related adverse events.”

Concerningly, the Vaxelis liquid suspension is adjuvanted onto not just AAHS, but also another aluminum adjuvant — aluminum phosphate). The package insert disingenuously shorthands the combination of adjuvants as “aluminum salts.”

How this double whammy of aluminum (319 micrograms per vaccine dose) interacts with the vaccine’s six antigens, or Vaxelis’s numerous other ingredients, or the heavy aluminum load in other childhood vaccines is largely unknown.

According to the Vaxelis package insert, the vaccine also includes: polysorbate 80 (an ingredient flagged for its propensity to induce hypersensitivity reactions); glutaraldehyde and formaldehyde (problematic chemicals deemed necessary to inactivate pertussis toxin); bovine serum albumin (often harvested from bovine fetuses when female cows are found to be pregnant at slaughter); three different antibiotics (neomycin, streptomycin and polymyxin B); ammonium thiocyanate (also a rust inhibitor, weedkiller and defoliant); and yeast protein (associated, notably in hepatitis B vaccines, with autoimmune reactions).

Regulatory loopholes allow manufacturers to “grandfather” ingredients into new vaccines if the components are already present in other licensed vaccines — regardless of how inadequate the original safety testing may have been.

Thus, Merck and Sanofi perceived no need to test Vaxelis for DNA-damaging or cancer-causing effects and conducted no studies of the ingredients’ pharmokinetics (i.e., how the substances move “into, through, and out of the body”).

The main cautionary note sounded in the meager Vaxelis patient information sheet is to not give Vaxelis to children if they are “allergic to any of the ingredients.”

For thee and thee … but not for me?

The CDC seems to be particularly interested in ensuring that poor and non-white children get Vaxelis. The agency began laying the groundwork to offer Vaxelis through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program — the agency’s vaccine program for the poor — over two years ago, in March 2019.

In September of that year, the CDC followed up with an affirmative vote. Public health departments have been promoting Vaxelis to participating VFC providers since early June 2021.

At its September 2019 meeting, CDC outlined another topic deemed important for discussion in the near future — raising the issue of whether Vaxelis should be “preferentially recommended” for the American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) pediatric population.

The tenuous rationale, according to the meeting notes, was because, “in the pre-vaccine era” (more than 35 years ago), “Hib disease occurred at a younger age among the AI/AN population compared to the general population.”

Wave of the future?

Judging from its website, the CDC perceives combination vaccines to be the wave of the future, and has signaled its strong endorsement of Vaxelis by incorporating the new vaccine into its 2021 vaccine schedule.

As if exposure to six antigens were not enough, FDA and CDC also say it is okay for healthcare providers to administer the six-in-one shot at the same time as other vaccines.

These agencies’ characterization of the Vaxelis safety profile as “acceptable” indicates they have either not done their due diligence, or are willing to accept a high level of collateral damage in exchange for the “convenience” of six-in-one shots.

However, as the “overwhelmed by guilt” parents of COVID-vaccine-injured teens are increasingly finding out, convenience is poor consolation for life-changing or life-threatening adverse outcomes.

Those same innocent Jewish people, who were German citizens, had no idea that after their guns were confiscated, they would be ordered to “move” to Ghettos reserved for them, and with other people “like them.” It was official Nazi policy to hate the Jews. They had been ostracized in the media’s propaganda (think leaflets, posters and films) as a burden on society in so many ways.

The German people were hand-fed a specific people to hate (think White Americans and non-vaxxers today). Hitler gave them a scapegoat. The “dirty” rat Jews. The populace took the bait.

Next, those millions of Jews were shipped by train from the Ghettos to the Concentration camps. This would be their final resting place. Hitler’s pharmaceutical “right arm” created toxic vaccines made of chemical concoctions, and they injected those chemicals into Jewish children’s arms, just to see what would happen. Of course, they died, after being tortured and abused.

The Jewish people weren’t dumb, they just didn’t realize what registering guns first meant, and eventually, they all got slow-walked into the gas chambers, that were filled with insecticide poisons, some of which are still used in chemotherapy today. The Jews were told it was a big group shower, and they walked into these warehouses where the Nazis pumped in gas instead of hot water, and that’s where about 1/6th of the 6 million Jews died.

When other Jews got off the trains, they were shot in the head twice, or if they had some skills that could help Hitler’s military forces, they were then given jobs. Then, they were all starved, slowly, to death. Hitler had fluoride put in the water to keep the Jews weak, so they couldn’t rebel or escape.

When ammonia is mixed with bleach, it becomes toxic like mustard gas. You can find ammonia mixed with bleach in commercial cigarettes. Most white foods today are bleached. Most red meat is treated with ammonia to kill the E. coli. The pesticides sprayed on nearly all conventional crops and produce is manufactured by Bayer (Monsanto), the SAME evil Bayer that headed up part of the pharma conglomerate known as I.G. Farben in Nazi Germany.

Vaccines contain horrible contaminants from around the planet that should NEVER be injected into human bodies. There is no safe amount of mercury that can be injected, whether ethyl or methyl. No human, especially Jews after what happened in Germany, should be slow-walked into getting vaccines that alter your genes to produce proteins and prions that mimic deadly viruses. Think about it for a minute. Let it sink in. Pharma. Nazi. Chemo. Hitler. Chemical Pesticides. Bayer. Gas Chambers. GMO. Covid-19. Protein payload and mRNA Vaccines.

Preventing panic and killing the “impaired” first

Notice that Covid-19 mainly attacks the “impaired” Americans, whose immune systems are dysfunctional and weak from prescription medications, fluoridated water, mercury in flu shots and genetically modified, pesticide-laden, highly processed and nutrient-dead food (mainly all conventional food that’s not organic). These same people’s bodies are compromised while fighting off cancer, diabetes, heart disease and dementia.

This is how the Nazis and Communists (Biden’s CCP Regime) attack and kill the weak and poor and “disabled” off first (remember the nursing home Covid killings in New York also here), with vaccines. This is Covid-19, the virus engineered in a lab to take out the weak, the “useless.” Both the virus and the vaccines are engineered to take out the weak, over time, but only a few years, not decades.

This is another careful slow-walk of the prisoners to the gas chambers, but now it’s to the vaccine centers for re-education of your cells, so they will now make your body cancerous while slowly clogging your blood. Eventually, you either go mad or die from a heart attack or stroke, and it’s always blamed on the scapegoat, which is now Covid-any-number-variant-year.

(Natural News) The employees and clients of investment bank Morgan Stanley who have not been fully vaccinated against the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) will be barred from entering the bank’s offices in New York.

“Starting July 12 all employees, contingent workforce, clients and visitors will be required to attest to being fully vaccinated to access Morgan Stanley buildings in New York City and Westchester,” read an internal memo signed by Chief Human Resources Officer Mandell Crawley. The memo added that the vaccine mandate was put in place to speed up the process of reopening its offices.

Crawley said any employee, client or visitor of Morgan Stanley properties in New York will lose their privilege to access the building if they remain unvaccinated. He added that the “overwhelming majority of staff” have already reported getting vaccinated.

Before the release of this memo, Chief Executive Officer James Gorman warned its employees who were hesitant about returning to its buildings. “If you can go to a restaurant in New York City, you can come into the office and we want you in the office,” he said during a conference.

The company has already implemented “vaccine-only” workspaces in some of its divisions, including its wealth management and institutional securities divisions. These workspaces supposedly “enhanced collaboration and productivity.”

While Morgan Stanley is adding restrictions to unvaccinated staff, it is loosening its rules for those who have taken the COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccinated individuals no longer have to fill up the daily health check form if they want to go to work in the office. This requirement was dropped on Wednesday, June 23.

Many Wall Street firms have already mandated that their employees return to the office. Morgan Stanley has not done so yet, but Gorman said if the offices weren’t filled up by Labor Day in September, “then we’ll have a different kind of conversation.”

To check the vaccination status of its employees returning to the office early, Morgan Stanley uses the VaccineCheck system. This vaccine passport currently operates on an honor system, but the bank may later decide to require proof of vaccination status using it. Other Wall Street firms setting their own vaccination policies

Wall Street banks like Morgan Stanley have been at the forefront of pushing to convince workers to return to the office. Its own vaccination policies are the strictest yet among these large banks.

As of press time, only one other Wall Street firm – BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager – has banned unvaccinated employees from entering its offices. Bank of America has made a similar policy. It will prioritize the return of vaccinated staff to its offices by early September. The bank said it will make arrangements for unvaccinated employees at a later time.

Earlier this month, Goldman Sachs made it mandatory for staff to disclose their vaccination status. It did not go so far as to ban unvaccinated employees from entering the building. But unvaccinated staff do have to wear masks and practice social distancing at all times. At JPMorgan Chase, disclosure of vaccine status is voluntary.

Back in December, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said companies have the power to bar employees from their workplaces if they refused to get vaccinated, so long as these corporations provide medical and religious exemptions.

In a survey conducted in May by advisory and risk management firm Willis Towers Watson, about 72 percent of employers said they will not require vaccinations to return to the workplace. Instead, many plan to follow Goldman Sachs’ policy of requiring unvaccinated staff to wear masks indoors.

Free to Learn is a new non-profit that is taking a non-partisan approach to highlighting the damage politicized content like critical theories are doing to our children and the quality of the education they receive. The group’s mission is to support parents, caregivers, and grassroots community organizations fighting to rid their schools of political content and to refocus on core skills.

“After a year of virtual learning and having a front-row seat in the classroom, parents are waking up to the increasingly political climate in their children’s schools,” Alleigh Marré, president of the Free to Learn Coalition, explained in a press release. “As we grow our partnerships with parent and community groups, the Free to Learn Coalition will provide a platform and tailored resources to those ready to take on political activism by school boards and administrators.”

In an interview with PJ Media, Marré shared some results taken from initial polling conducted by Free to Learn. Objections to political content in the classroom are bipartisan and resounding. A majority of respondents, 82%, want no politicized content in school. When asked where curriculum should be focused, 71% prefer to emphasize core subjects over ideology, including 66% of self-identified liberals. In a national election, these numbers would be considered a landslide. To put a fine point on the polling information, Marré emphasized that the goal is not to limit the exposure to a broad range of ideas. The objection is to teaching materials through the lens of one ideology and presenting them as facts.

YouTube Blocks Videos Exposing China’s Genocide in Xinjiang

A human rights group focused on exposing China’s slow-motion genocide of the Uyghur people and others in Xinjiang is moving videos from YouTube to another platform after YouTube repeatedly blocked some of its videos for ostensibly violating the company’s terms of service. In one case, YouTube claimed the videos promoted violent criminal organizations, echoing the Chinese Communist Party’s attacks on dissenters.

“There is another excuse every day. I never trusted YouTube,” Serikzhan Bilash, one of the founders of the human rights group Atajurt, told Reuters. “But we’re not afraid anymore, because we are backing ourselves up with LBRY. The most important thing is our material’s safety.”

Atajurt attracted millions of views on YouTube to testimonies from people who say their families have disappeared in Xinjiang. The nonprofit is moving its videos to the alternative video service Odysee after Google-owned YouTube took them down.

Atajurt, which international organizations like Human Rights Watch have credited with drawing attention to the human rights crisis in Xinjiang, has faced hostility from the authorities in Kazakhstan since its founding in 2017.

Bilash, the Atajurt co-founder, was himself born in Xinjiang. Kazakh authorities have arrested him multiple times, and in one instance government advisors told him to stop using the word “genocide” to describe the CCP’s efforts against the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in the northeast Chinese province. Bilash suspected that this demand traced back to the CCP, which had likely pressured Kazakh authorities.

Referring to Atajurt’s videos, Bilash told Reuters, “They’re just facts. The people giving the testimonies are talking about their loved ones.”

Atajurt Kazakh Human Rights’ channel has published nearly 11,000 videos on YouTube, racking up over 120 million views since 2017. Thousands of those videos feature people speaking to the camera about relatives who they say have disappeared without a trace in Xinjiang. Human rights groups estimate that the CCP has detained over a million people there in recent years.

On June 15, YouTube blocked Atajurt, claiming the channel had violated its guidelines. Twelve of Atajurt’s videos had been reported for breaching the platform’s “cyberbullying and harassment” policy.

Between April and June, YouTube had blocked the videos and Atajurt had appealed the censorship. The platform had reinstated some of the videos, but it did not provide an explanation as to why others remained out of the public view.

YouTube removed the channel, but the platform restored it after Reuters asked for comment about the removal. YouTube said that Atajurt had received several “strikes” for videos containing people holding up ID cards to prove that they were related to missing persons, violating a YouTube policy that prohibits personally identifiable information in its videos. The platform reinstated Atajurt on June 18, asking the human rights group to blur the IDs.

The channel’s administrator said he is hesitant to comply, fearing that blurring the videos would jeopardize their trustworthiness. Fearing another YouTube block, the organization decided to back up its content to Odysee, a website built on the blockchain protocol LBRY. It has moved about 975 videos so far.

As administrators started moving the videos, they received another series of messages from YouTube stating that the videos in question had been removed from public view due to concerns that they may promote violent criminal organizations.

Bilash himself fled to Istanbul last year after suffering repeated threats from Kazakh authorities. Bilash said the police in Kazakhstan had repeatedly confiscated his hard disks and mobile phones, making YouTube the only place he could preserve the video collection.

YouTube insisted that the messages about promoting violent criminal organizations were automated and not related to Atajurt’s content, but the platform allowed administrators to make edits to the videos, which remained private.

Atajurt fears that pro-China groups that deny the very existence of human rights abuses in Xinjiang are using YouTube’s reporting features to remove the human rights group’s content by blocking it en masse, triggering an automatic block.

Even while Atajurt uses Odysee as a back-up, Bilash said the group plans to continue using YouTube, as well.

“We will never delete it,” Bilash said of the YouTube channel, citing the importance of Atajurt’s big audience on YouTube. “The day YouTube deactivated our channel, I felt I’d lost everything in the world… the new channel does not have so many subscribers, but it is safe.”

The Chinese Communist Party has allegedly imprisoned 1 million members of Muslim minority groups in what China defends as de-radicalization and retraining centers. Human rights activists have compared the camps to prisons and worse, claiming that inmates are sentenced there with little due process. The Uyghurs (the largest Muslim minority targeted) and others are compelled to denounce their religion, language, and culture and to pledge allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping. According to an Associated Press investigation, Uyghur women are forced to use birth control or undergo involuntary sterilizations.

Experts have described China’s efforts in Xinjiang as a form of “demographic genocide.”

The CCP’s oppression of the Uyghurs, combined with its malfeasance during the COVID-19 pandemic, its aggression against its neighbors, its crackdown on Christianity, and its imposition of communism in China, arguably set the Chinese Communist Party in the same league as the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. Sadly, Hunter Biden’s history with China undermines President Joe Biden’s efforts to oppose this heinous regime.

In this context, YouTube’s occasional crackdown on Atajurt — even if somewhat automated — is particularly damning for the social media platform.
