New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez has been charged with a federal corruption indictment, making it the second set of corruption charges against him in 10 years.

Menendez (D-N.J.) and his wife, Nadine, are accused of accepting “hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes” in exchange for the senator’s influence, according to the newly unsealed federal indictment.

The sweeping 39-page indictment claims that the couple accepted bribes in exchange for Menendez using his power as a U.S. senator to protect the interest of three prominent businessmen, while also benefiting Egypt’s government.

Federal prosecutors in New York announced the charges during a press conference on Friday, adding that the investigation is “ongoing.”

“Today, I’m announcing that my office has obtained a three count indictment charging Senator Robert Menendez, his wife, Nadine Menendez, and three New Jersey businessmen, Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibes for bribery offenses,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said at a press conference late Friday morning.

The list of charges against the couple includes conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and abusing his power in office.

The indictment alleges Menendez and his wife received bribes that included “cash, gold bars, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, a luxury vehicle and other items of value.”

Menendez responded to the indictment in a statement.

“For years, forces behind the scenes have repeatedly attempted to silence my voice and dig my political grave. Since this investigation was leaked nearly a year ago, there has been an active smear campaign of anonymous sources and innuendos to create an air of impropriety where none exists,” he claimed.

The indictment revealed that in 2022, federal agents carried out searches at Menendez’s residence and safe deposit box, discovering nearly $500,000 in cash.

Some of this money was reportedly hidden in envelopes within jackets bearing Menendez’s name.

Prosecutors assert that some of those envelopes carried the fingerprints or DNA of one of the business associates allegedly involved in providing bribes to the senator.

During the search, federal investigators also found a “luxury vehicle, paid for by [Jose] Uribe,” parked in the garage.

As Menendez gears up for re-election next year, these charges have cast a shadow over his political future. The senator has been a fixture in the Senate since 2006.

Zelenskyy Visits Wounded Ukrainian Soldiers IN A New York City Hospital ON STATEN ISLAND: What’s This Now?

What's This Now? Zelenskyy Visits Wounded Ukrainian Soldiers — in New York City Hospital
Ukrainian Presidential Press Office via AP
There are an awful lot of strange things about the war in Ukraine. Here’s another one.

The New York Post reported matter-of-factly Monday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “headed to Staten Island University Hospital on Monday to visit his country’s wounded soldiers after he landed in the Big Apple for this week’s United Nations General Assembly.” It was presented as a heart-warming story: the Commander-In-Chief gives a morale boost to those who have been wounded in defense of the nation, and everyone goes away feeling inspired.

But wait. Why are the Ukrainian wounded in a hospital on Staten Island, instead of, say, Kyiv, or Odessa? It seems an awful long way for a wounded person to have to travel for treatment. Yet the Post offers no explanation of why they’re there, how they got there, or what the implications of their being there might be. Sky News offered raw footage of the event but no further explanation.

The Post says that Zelenskyy “thanked Ukrainian fighters receiving treatment at the hospital and even helped one soldier out of his wheelchair and to his feet as the two took a photo together.” And even more inspiring, “during his visit, Zelenskyy handed out commendations to the injured soldiers, some confined to wheelchairs and others with prosthetic limbs.”

While he was there, “he also toured the facility” and gave “a short address to the soldiers in the room.” That was when the inspirational content of this story reached its height, for Zelenskyy “reportedly issued the country’s battle cry, ‘Glory to Ukraine’ with soldiers replying ‘Glory to the heroes’ in Ukrainian.”

Gee, that’s swell, but when did Staten Island become part of Ukraine? Did Zelenskyy buy it with all the billions that the Biden regime has been shoveling his way?

Michael Dowling, whom the Post identifies as “the CEO of Northwell Health, which owns Staten Island University Hospital” offered a clue to this curious scenario when he said that “18 Ukrainian soldiers have received treatment at the medical center since March.”

That leads us to an ABC News story from March 30, which informs us that “a U.S.-based nonprofit is providing life-changing prosthetic limbs to Ukrainian soldiers who were wounded while defending their country against Russian forces. In just a few months, Kind Deeds has helped 11 soldiers receive and get fitted with prostheses.” The story adds that the soldiers were being treated at Staten Island University Hospital.

Dowling explained, “We have an obligation to help with the situation in Ukraine as much as we possibly can. It’s our privilege to help any way we can.” The executive director of Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. Brahim Ardolic, added that “the soldiers want to get back to serve their country.”

He said, “We’ve rarely seen patients that are this much wanting to get better to go back to help. It’s really incredible to see how passionate you all are about getting better so you can go back and help your country. It really is something that is an inspiration to all of us.” In the same spirit of warmth and commendation, Zelenskyy “also presented awards to hospital staff.”

Zelenskyy is in New York to speak at the UN, and while he is in the country, he also plans to pay a visit to his piggy bank: “Later this week, Zelenskyy plans to meet with President Biden and congressional leaders in Washington, D.C. in a bid to secure more assistance from the U.S. as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine approaches 20 months.”

And of course, he will get it as America’s infrastructure continues to crumble and Americans are increasingly squeezed by the financial burden of taking care of everyone in the world who has any problems.

It is unlikely that Zelenskyy and Old Joe will discuss the wisdom of the U.S. getting ever more involved in the war in Ukraine and thereby also inching ever closer to a world war. American taxpayer money is bankrolling the war in Ukraine, and wounded Ukrainian soldiers are being treated in the United States (paid for by a charity, apparently), and no one seems concerned about the bigger picture at all.

So relax. There will never be any consequences for America’s actions, and the money will never run out. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!

Hunter Biden To Appear In Person For Arraignment On Gun Charges

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE - JULY 26: Hunter Biden, son of U.S. President Joe Biden, departs the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building and United States Courthouse on July 26, 2023 in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges in a deal with prosecutors to avoid prosecution on an additional gun charge. However, the federal judge overseeing the case unexpectedly delayed Biden's plea deal and deferred her decision until more information is put forth by both the prosecution and the defense. United States Magistrate Judge from the District of Delaware, Christopher Burke, has declared that Hunter Biden, 53, must not receive “special treatment” regarding his request to appear virtually for his first court hearing on federal gun charges.

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, was charged by Special Counsel David Weiss with making an untrue statement during his purchase of a firearm and making a false statement regarding information required to be kept by a federal licensed gun dealer. He was additionally charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

On Tuesday, Hunter’s lawyers explained to the court that he will not be pleading guilty while asking for his first court appearance to take place virtually. This was something that Weiss’ team was opposed to in a filing on Wednesday.

Therefore, the Magistrate Judge announced on Wednesday afternoon that he will not be allowing Hunter to appear in court by video conference. He also explained that the president’s son should not be receiving special treatment.

“In the end, the Court agrees with both the Defendant and the Government, that Defendant should not receive special treatment in this matter — absent some unusual circumstance, he should be treated just as would any other defendant in our Court,” Burke stated in the filing.

The 53-year-old’s in-person court appearance has been scheduled for October 3rd at 10 a.m. in Delaware.

In Weiss’ opposition filing, it was stated that there are “serious felony gun charges at issue in this case.”

Ultimately, the federal firearm charges are the first charges Weiss has brought against Hunter since becoming a part of the special counsel status.

“Hunter Biden possessing an unloaded gun for 11 day [sic] was not a threat to public safety, but a prosecutor, with all the power imaginable, bending to political pressure presents a grave threat to our system of justice,” Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell expressed in a statement earlier this week. “We believe these charges are barred by the agreement the prosecutors made with Mr. Biden, the recent rulings by several federal courts that this statute is unconstitutional, and the facts that he did not violate that law, and we plan to demonstrate all of that in court.”

Hunter has been in predicaments similar to this case previously. Fox News first reported in 2021 that police had responded to a case in October 2018, when a firearm owned by Hunter was found inside a trash can outside a market in Delaware.

According to a Fox News review, a firearm transaction statement reported that Hunter purchased a firearm earlier that month. On the firearm transaction report, Hunter responded negatively when he was asked if he was an “unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance.”

“An in-person hearing is important to promote the public’s confidence that the defendant is being treated consistently with other defendants in this District and in other Districts,” Weiss’ team wrote in a letter to the federal Magistrate Judge on Wednesday.

“Moreover, the previous arraignment held in connection with this matter was anything but routine because the defendant and his previous attorney were not prepared to answer the Court’s questions,” the special counsel added.

Burke initially scheduled the arraignment for September 26th but decided to change the date to October 3rd.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

New reports have suggested President Joe Biden will announce on Friday the first-ever federal office of gun violence prevention.

White House Staff Secretary Stefanie Feldman is leading the new department, according to The Washington Post and Politico. Feldman has previously worked on the Domestic Policy Council and oversees the gun policy portfolio at the White House.

Activists claim the new department will help the Biden administration coordinate across the federal government on gun-related topics and help Biden show leadership when it comes to gun violence prevention.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been over 500 shootings in the United States where four or more people were injured or killed.

In January, a combined 117 groups sent a letter to Biden urging him to create the federal office of gun violence prevention, a $5 billion fund for community violence intervention programs, a ban on foreign-made weapons, education campaigns on gun safety, stronger Federal Trade Commission regulations on firearm marketing, and a descriptive plan on the enactment of the Safer Communities Act passed last year.

“Unfortunately, gun deaths and injuries continue to ravage our country, impacting Asian American, Black and Brown communities, and neighborhoods all across the country,” the groups wrote to Biden. “While Congress must continue to prioritize gun violence prevention, you have the opportunity to act boldly by announcing a comprehensive plan of action to reduce gun deaths at the State of the Union on February 7, 2023.”

In June 2022, the president signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which increased background checks for people under 21 who purchase firearms.

Genocide Alert: Azerbaijan is attacking Nagorno Karabakh

SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2023/09/genocide-alert-azerbaijan-is-attacking-nagorno-karabakh;

Republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, & research purposes.

Today, the dictatorship of Azerbaijan launched a full-scale military attack on Nagorno Karabakh, also known as Artsakh, where 120,000 Armenian Christians have been under siege for nine months.

The president of Christian Solidarity International (CSI), Dr. John Eibner, warns, “If Azerbaijan’s allies and commercial partners – the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, European Union, Israel, and Switzerland – do not act immediately to restrain it, there will be mass killings and other atrocities against the region’s civilian population. Genocide is imminent.”

CSI has received word from the minister of health for the Republic of Artsakh, Vardan Tadevosyan, that the capital city of Stepanakert is being bombed continuously by artillery. “We are under attack,” he says.

Azerbaijan’s defense ministry has announced that it has begun a military operation to “neutralize [the] military infrastructure” of the Armenians and “restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.” An armed Azerbaijani conquest of Nagorno Karabakh will entail nothing less than the destruction of its ancient Armenian population.

On September 7, Elchin Amirbayov, a senior spokesman for Azerbaijan’s president, menacingly predicted “a genocide may happen” if Nagorno Karabakh’s elected leaders fail to submit.

A CSI team was in Armenia from September 11 to 16 and was able to observe Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to the outside world. The CSI team also observed Azerbaijani military outposts built many kilometers inside the Republic of Armenia itself. It is highly likely that this war will spread to southern Armenia and beyond.

CSI’s Joel Veldkamp, who was part of the visiting delegation, stated, “For nine months, the major powers – Russia, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom – have done nothing to end this siege, or avert this very predictable outcome.”

A week after Azerbaijan’s siege of Nagorno Karabakh began, on December 19, 2022, CSI and nine other human rights groups issued a Genocide Warning for the Armenian Christians of the region. “Despite this early and clear warning, the world failed to respond,” Veldkamp stated.

On September 14, Yuri Kim, the U.S. State Department’s Acting Assistant Secretary for European Affairs, stated in a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing that “the U.S. will not countenance any action or effort—short-term or long-term—to ethnically cleanse or commit other atrocities against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Azerbaijan is now doing just that.

Eibner states, “The United States and other members of the UN Security Council must now do collectively and individually what they should have done nine months ago – immediately use every lever at their disposal to restrain Azerbaijan and protect Nagorno Karabakh’s Armenians, including sanctioning the Azerbaijani perpetrators.”

“If not, they will be complicit in another Armenian Genocide.”

A committee on the New York City Council is set to vote on a proposal that could result in monuments honoring figures such as George Washington, Christopher Columbus, Thomas Jefferson, Peter Stuyvesant, and more being removed due to their “controversial” pasts.

A public hearing was held on Tuesday addressing the proposal established by the NYC Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Intergroup Relations. The proposal specified that public art that portrays someone who has been linked to slavery or “crimes against humanity” should be taken down.

However, if the commission determines that a statue or monument honors a person who committed crimes against humanity, but votes not to remove the artwork, it would require the city to create an “explanatory plaque” discussing the misdeeds of the historical figure.

The committee’s hearing involved additional legislation that would mandate the city’s Public Design Commission (PDC) to administer a plan to remove works of art on New York property.

According to the committee, the monuments represent individuals who owned enslaved persons who economically benefited from slavery, or those who participated in systemic crimes against indigenous people.

“This bill would require the PDC to publish a plan to remove works of art on City property that depict a person who owned enslaved persons or directly benefited [sic] economically from slavery, or who participated in systemic crimes against indigenous peoples or other crimes against humanity,” the proposal explains. “If PDC determines a work of art depicts a person who fits these criteria and decides not to remove the work of art, PDC would be required to include in the plan steps it will take to install an explanatory plaque next to the work of art.”

However, Republican officials claimed that the proposal was created in an effort to erase history and dishonor those who established America. Critics immediately branded the attempt to remove the notable statues as being a part of “cancel culture.”

“This is little more than an attempt by the radical left to rewrite our nation’s history,” said Republican Councilwoman Joann Ariola of Queens, according to the New York Post. “These men all had an enormous impact on this country, and these statues commemorating their achievements have been in place for decades.”

“The radical left has been trying to reframe our nation as one born from evil, and it is time we put our foot down and say enough is enough,” she added. “The Founding Fathers and the others who worked so hard to establish this great country should be celebrated, not eliminated from memory.”

There are over half a dozen monuments on city property admiring Washington, the first president of the United States and a revolutionary hero, which could now potentially be taken down. These include monuments in Washington Square Park and Union Square Park.

Statues of Christopher Columbus, an Italian man famously known for discovering the “New World” in 1492, were also targeted with outcries for his statue to be removed from the public square due to how he allegedly “abused native populations throughout his travels.”

Additionally, Peter Stuyvesant, an early New York settler and slaveholder, has a statue erected of him in Stuyvesant Park, and the prestigious Stuyvesant High School is also named after him.

Furthermore, NYC officials have already taken down a statue of Thomas Jefferson, an author of the Declaration of Independence and the third president of the U.S., due to his connection with slavery. These included monuments at the city council chambers that were removed in 2021.

Another monument, which honors the 26th president of the U.S., Teddy Roosevelt, has also been taken down in front of the Natural History Museum in New York.

“I thought this was behind us,” Angelo Vivolo, president of the Columbus Heritage Coalition said. “This woke group wants to cancel our culture.”

“I’m here for the fight. The Italian-American community will come out strongly against this move to ban Columbus, a symbol of Italian-American accomplishment. But it’s not just Columbus. You’re going against Washington… Jefferson…. You’re going against the people who contributed greatly to America,” he added.

The 51-member New York City Council is in control of the operation of city agencies and the passing of local regulations and laws that deal with everything from outdoor dining to zoning matters. However, their main focus currently is canceling historical figures deemed “controversial.”

Brooklyn Council Sany Nurse, the author of the proposal, was not immediately available for comment when asked about the situation.

Here’s Why You May Want to Think Twice Before Getting the Updated COVID Vaccine

Here's Why You May Want to Think Twice Before Getting the Updated COVID Vaccine
AP Photo/Charles Krupa, File
There’s an election coming up next year, so naturally, we’re all being conditioned for a return of COVID-19. For weeks, there’s been talk of a new COVID variant, which prompted Joe Biden to request more funding for Big Pharma a new, updated vaccine. Conveniently enough, at the same time, the media started reporting on the alleged increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, and some high-profile people suddenly caught COVID, including Jill Biden.

The message was clear: be afraid of the return of COVID. Be very afraid.

But is that really what you should be afraid of? As you may recall, during the pandemic, we learned that the vaccines didn’t necessarily protect people from COVID-19, prompting widespread skepticism. Heck, the CDC even changed the definition of vaccine to remove references to immunity. Even though you may have decided that you weren’t going to get this updated vaccine, Biden floated the idea of a new vaccine mandate.

It seems likely that the Biden administration will do whatever it can to ensure demand for this updated vaccine, which has already been approved by the FDA for all Americans six months and older. According to Johns Hopkins professor Dr. Marty Makary, this new vaccine was approved by the FDA despite any human trial data.

Related: Is This Why We’re Being Conditioned for a COVID Comeback?

“They are telling every American six months of age and older to get this new COVID vaccine, but they approved it based on almost no data,” Makary told Guy Benson on his radio show. “There’s no human clinical trial data. Pfizer submitted data on ten mice, and Moderna, which also got a new vaccine approved [sic]. This is not an additional booster. This is an entirely newly designed COVID-19 vaccine they want everyone to get, even if you had COVID a few months ago. They don’t care. They’re pushing it hard.”

Even worse, the Biden administration appears ready to push this untested vaccine on children, who, we’ve pointed out many times, aren’t really at risk from COVID.

“And the White House bought four times as many doses for children this round as they did last fall when they had that new Bivalent vaccine. So this is a big push now of the Moderna trial. It turns out if you actually look at the data returned, they [Moderna] did give it to 50 people back four months ago. One of them had an adverse event requiring medical attention.”

So Pfizer has no human trial data for its new vaccine, and Moderna is being mum about the adverse effects of its new vaccine. How can they get away with this? Well, as Makary pointed out, they’ve gamed the system before.

Related: Biden Can Shove His New Vaccine Mandate up His Donkey

“They know that the regulatory process to get this approved is totally greased,” Makary pointed out. “President Biden was out there saying that this thing works and everyone needs to get it before the FDA even, you know, approved it. So this thing was greased.”

Imagine a vaccine where 1 in 50 doses resulted in an adverse effect. That’s the kind of result that, in the past, would guarantee rejection from the FDA. Heck, the Biden administration put a pause on the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine over a one-in-a-million risk of blood clots. Consider the evidence, and ask yourself why the Biden administration is pushing you to get an updated vaccine that hasn’t been thoroughly tested to protect yourself from a virus that isn’t nearly as severe as it was two years ago.

Sleep Crisis Affects Mental Health of Students in U.S.

sleepy student

At least 50 percent of middle school students and 75 percent of high school students in the United States are not getting enough hours of sleep on a daily basis, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).1

Commenting on children not getting enough sleep, Oleg Tarkovsky, director of Behavioral Health Services at CareFirst Blue Cross & Blue Shield, said:

It affects everything we do, including the functioning of kids, the ability to learn, their mental health, emotional social health and physical health. It affects everything.2

Tarkovsky added that for children under the age of six, inadequate sleep has a negative effect on growth and development, and, for adolescents, inadequate sleep interferes with learning by affecting memory and reducing attention spans.3

Rafael Pelayo, MD, a sleep researcher at the Stanford Sleep Medicine Center in California, said that lack of sleep in adolescents affects their executive functioning, making them more susceptible to taking drugs, committing crimes, or taking risks sexually.4

Strong Link Between Lack of Sleep and Impulsive Behaviors in Children

A 2023 study from the Youth Development Institute at the University of Georgia published in Sleep Health found that children, who had less than nine hours of sleep per day or took over 30 minutes to fall asleep, exhibited more impulsive behaviors.5

The lead researcher of the study, Linhao Zhang, stated:

Stressful environments are shown to make adolescents seek immediate rewards rather than delayed rewards, but there are also adolescents who are in stressful environments who are not impulsive. We looked at what explains that link and what makes some people differ from others. One mechanism we found is sleep.6

The study used data from the Data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study, a multi-year brain development study funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Data from 11,858 children aged between nine and 10 years old found that lack of sleep and long sleep latency (how long it takes to fall asleep) had a strong link to impulsive behaviors.7

The researchers’ data highlighted the important role that sleep plays in children’s cognitive and behavioral development and that this information can be used to create cost-effective interventions to help in the psychological development of children experiencing stressors at home.

Zhang added:

If you want to develop interventions for people in stressful environments, it’s very costly, and sometimes it needs generational work to change. Sleep is a modifiable behavior, and these changes can be cost-efficient.8

Sleep Deprivation Can Impact Development and Performance Even in Stress-Free Environments

The study’s researchers noted that sleep deprivation can also be a problem in stress-free environments. Zhang provided an example of how teenagers have a circadian rhythm that is adapted to staying up late at night and sleeping more in the morning; however, early start times at many schools and late nights completing homework can create an imbalance. She stated:

A lot of adolescents don’t have enough time to sleep, and they are sleep deprived. This study shows why it is important to promote longer sleep duration by delaying school start times or establishing routines so that adolescents know, ‘OK, after this event, I’m going to bed.9

Parents Can Play a Role in Correcting Children’s Sleep Behaviors

Dr. Pelayo notes that although sleep is a biological necessity, sleep habits are learned, which means that parents can play an important role in modeling good sleep habits to their children. He emphasizes that being a good role model is more effective than nagging or punishment, stating:

You can’t be smoking a cigarette and telling your kids not to smoke, right? Parents have to model healthy behavior themselves. If they’re sleep-deprived, their kids will likely be, too. … The first thing you want to do is to make sleep a priority in the family, so that sleep is not negotiable.10

Federal Court Sides With Doctors on Ivermectin Lawsuit Charging FDA Overreach

Ivermectin antiparisitic drug

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans has given new life to a lawsuit brought by three doctors claiming the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) overstepped its authority and acted as a medical doctor rather than as a regulating authority in the agency’s campaign promoting a ban on the use of the drug Ivermectin in the treatment of COVID-19.1

The court’s decision overturned U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Vincent Brown’s lower court’s order dismissing the doctors’ lawsuit. Judge Brown agreed with the government that it was protected from the lawsuit due to sovereign immunity.2 Sovereign immunity provides that the government may not be sued without its consent. The purpose behind the legal doctrine of sovereign immunity is to protect the government from being forced to change policies should someone disagree with them and bring legal action.3

The medical doctors, Mary Bowden, Paul Marik, and Robert Apter, argue that the FDA’s actions of interfering with their prescribing of Ivermectin harmed their reputation caused punitive action to be taken against them, and interfered with the practice of medicine, which included pharmacies failing to fill their prescription orders for Ivermectin.

Jared Kalson, the lawyer for the plaintiffs argued:

If the government is going to label Ivermectin a horse medicine or a horse dewormer and promulgate the idea that it is only for animals, then the natural correlation is that doctors who prescribe it are horse doctors or quack doctors, which has played out. The government engaged in a singularly effective campaign here to malign a common drug that has been used for a very long time and has been dispensed in billions of doses. Its one of the most famously safe drugs in the history of human medicine. And when people did exactly what the FDA said to Stop it. Stop it with the Ivermectin,I dont understand how that would not be traceable back to the FDA.4

Court Rules “FDA Not a Physician”

The plaintiffs appealed the lower court order to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The panel of three appellate judges, including Judge Don Willet, Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod, and Judge Edith Brown Clement agreed with the plaintiffs that the FDA committed government agency overreach and allowed the doctors to proceed with their lawsuit.5

The Order read,:

FDA is not a physician. It has authority to inform, announce, and apprise—but not to endorse, denounce, or advise. The doctors have plausibly alleged that FDAs posts fell on the wrong side of the line between telling about and telling to. As such, the doctors can use the APA to assert their ultra vires claims against the agencies and the officials.6

Judge Willet took issue with the FDA’s Aug. 21, 2021 Twitter post stating, “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.” The judge wrote, “Even tweet-sized doses of personalized medical advice are beyond FDA’s statutory authority.”7

How a Licensed Inexpensive Antiparasitic Drug Helped Treat COVID

Merck originally marketed Ivermectin, which was licensed in 1981, as a veterinary antiparasitic drug. By the late 1980s, Ivermectin became the most widely used antiparasitic drug in both animals and humans and has been especially useful in Africa to effectively and safely control malaria.8 9 A Nobel prize-winning drug, doctors have been prescribing Ivermectin to patients for decades.10

So how did a cheap, accessible antiparasitic become such a popular drug used to treat SARS-CoV-2 infections during the COVID pandemic?

In 2020, Australian researchers from the Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI) at Monash University made the discovery that Ivermectin could neutralize the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus within 48 hours. The study, a joint effort between Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Monash University in Clayton, Australia, and the Peter Doherty Institute of Infection and Immunity—a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, both in Melbourne, Australia—found that, in vitro, the drug proved effective against a number of viruses, including HIV, dengue, influenza, and Zika. The findings suggested that just a single dose of Ivermectin could remove or significantly reduce viral RNA within 24 to 48 hours of SARS-CoV-2 .

Dr. Kylie Wagstaff, Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute scientist and leader of the study said: “We found that even a single dose could essentially remove all viral RNA by 48 hours and that even at 24 hours there was a really significant reduction in it.”

A study was published in 2021 in the American Journal of Therapeutics providing evidence that the use of Ivermectin reduces morbidity and mortality from SARS-CoV-2 infections, including time to recovery and viral clearance.11 In addition, Ivermectin is being investigated as an option for treating certain other human viral infections like latent Epstein Barr, which can be reactivated in some individuals when they are infected with SARS-CoV-2 and lead to long COVID.12 13 14

Ivermectin Showed Antiviral Effects Against Omicron and Other Variants

Off-label use of Ivermectin has been the source of much scrutiny among many public health officials throughout and even following the pandemic. And while historically prescribed as an antiparasitic for humans and animals, the drug did show and other variants in 2022 during joint nonclinical research conducted by Japanese pharmaceutical company, Kowa Co. Ltd.15

Additionally, another study published in The Lancet in 2021 found Ivermectin to incite “antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 and provides insights into the type of evaluations to be considered in the assessment of antiviral drugs for the control of COVID.”16

Popular podcast host and health and wellness influencer Joe Rogan posted a video only days after the FDA urged people to stop taking the drug to prevent or treat COVID-19 to share he was taking Ivermectin after contracting the virus. He said that taking Ivermectin in conjunction with monoclonal antibodies, prednisone, azithromycin, a NAD drip, and a vitamin drip, a protocol he shared with his followers, helped him feel “great” only three days later.

FDA’s Condemnation of Ivermectin-Blocked Doctor Prescriptions for COVID Patients

Judge Willet further pointed out that Ivermectin is available in both animal and human form and that doctors have been prescribing the drug to patients for decades. However, after the FDA’s condemnation of Ivermectin as an ineffective and potentially dangerous treatment for COVID-19, pharmacies across the country began refusing to fill doctors’ prescriptions for patients.

A Department of Justice attorney, Ashley Cheumg Honold, clarified the FDA’s position to the court stating…

FDA explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe ivermectin to treat COVID.17

Despite the FDA’s statement that doctors have the authority to prescribe Ivermectin to treat COVID, pharmacies continue to refuse to fill prescriptions for the drug, leaving patients scrambling. Dr Bowden told The Epoch Times:

This needs to come to an end. In telling my patients what medicines they can and cannot have access to, we effectively have a large group of pharmacists practicing medicine without a license. They have no accountability for this yet they are allowed to dictate patient care. … I see it every single day. Enough is enough.18

Five Americans who were detained in Iran for several years have now been released as part of a prisoner swap for five Iranians being held in the United States.

On Monday, the five US citizens were flown out of Tehran and landed in Qatar. According to U.S. and Iranian officials, the five Iran nationals have also been released. Two of them have reportedly arrived in Doha and the other three opted not to return to Iran.

The complex transfer deal included the Biden administration giving Tehran access to $6 billion in oil revenue that had been held in South Korea since 2018.

“Today, five innocent Americans who were imprisoned in Iran are finally coming home,” U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement, adding that he is “grateful to our partners at home and abroad for their tireless efforts to help us achieve this outcome, including the Governments of Qatar, Oman, Switzerland, and South Korea.”

It remains unclear whether the exchange could pave the way for advancements on issues that separate the two nations, including Iran’s nuclear program, its backing of regional Shi’ite militias, the presence of U.S. troops in the Gulf, and the ongoing U.S. sanctions against Iran.

Shortly before the release of the American detainees, Republican lawmakers criticized the agreement, characterizing it as a “ransom” payment that could potentially incentivize Iran to detain more Americans in the future.

Biden announced on Monday that he was sanctioning former Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence under the Levinson Act “for their involvement in wrongful detentions. And, we will continue to impose costs on Iran for their provocative actions in the region,” Biden said.

He also issued a warning to U.S. citizens about the risks involved in traveling to Iran: “American passport holders should not travel there.”

While the return of these Americans is cause for celebration, it also serves as a reminder that some have not returned and may still remain behind bars in Iran. Bob Levinson, a former DEA and FBI agent, was imprisoned in Iran in 2007 and is believed to have died sometime before March 25, 2020.

“I call on the Iranian regime to give a full account of what happened to Bob Levinson,” President Biden said, adding that “The Levinson family deserves answers.”

New Mexico Governor Reverses Course on Gun Ban Order Amidst Legal Challenges

In a recent turn of events, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has backed down from her initial “emergency public health order” that had attempted to suspend Second Amendment carry rights throughout the state’s most populated county and city. This decision was heavily influenced by a temporary restraining order issued by a federal District Court Judge, which hindered the enforcement of the Governor’s original ban.

As per the new modifications, the suspension on carry rights has been lifted for Bernalillo County and the city of Albuquerque. However, this ban will still apply to “parks or playgrounds where we know we’ve got high risk of kids and families,” stated Grisham. Although the exact specifics of this amendment remain somewhat ambiguous, the Governor held an hour-long press conference in an attempt to clarify her stance.

The initial order, introduced on September 8th, 2023, imposed a 30-day suspension of open and concealed carry rights in Bernalillo County, home to Albuquerque. This sudden move by the Governor was met with significant resistance, inciting multiple lawsuits and calls for her impeachment.

Even fellow Democrat, New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez, expressed his reservations, stating his unwillingness to defend the state in the ensuing legal battles and his skepticism regarding the order’s potential impact on public safety.

The adjustment to the order came after an engaging courtroom debate. Lujan Grisham mentioned during a press briefing that there’s a considerable distinction between a suspension and a ban. While emphasizing her concerns about the ongoing issues related to gun violence and public safety, she cited the tragic incidents of three children, including an 11-year-old, who were recently victims of gun violence. This, coupled with convenient and questionable statistics showing a “43% increase in gun death rates” in New Mexico from 2009 to 2018, attributed to the Governor’s decision to classify gun violence as a statewide public health emergency.

Critics of Lujan Grisham’s measures have come from all corners. Albuquerque police Chief Harold Medina stated his reluctance to enforce the order, and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen voiced his concerns about potential infringements on constitutional rights. As expected, gun-control supporters like Miranda Viscoli, co-president of New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, praised the Governor’s efforts as both brave and essential, even if the order’s legality remains a point of contention.

Reflecting on the blowback, the Governor commented, “When you try to build consensus on gun violence measures, you cannot.” If further challenges arise in the upcoming October hearing, Lujan Grisham mentioned the possibility of approaching the legislature for a resolution.

Maybe if the Governor focused on criminals instead of law-abiding gun owners, she could actually get to the consensus she claims to want.

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) today joined Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) in demanding Attorney General Merrick Garland protect the Second Amendment rights of New Mexicans from the unconstitutional actions of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.

In a letter to Attorney General Garland, the senators urged the Department of Justice to respond swiftly to Governor Lujan Grisham’s unconstitutional Executive Order 2023-130, which violates the individual right to bear arms upheld in cases like District of Columbia v. Heller and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen.

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) also signed the letter.

“Governor Grisham has issued an order which is being used to blatantly trample on the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of New Mexico, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) must act swiftly to stop this unconstitutional power grab,” wrote the senators.

“While the public health order may invoke state law to authorize this unconstitutional infringement, it should be no match for the authority which the DOJ has to enforce our rights under the U.S. Constitution. That is why we are calling on you to enforce the Constitution and intervene on behalf of the constitutional rights of New Mexicans to stop this unconstitutional act from standing,” the senators continued.

“By preventing certain New Mexicans from exercising their constitutional rights to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home, Governor Grisham is violating the Second Amendment, the Fourteenth Amendment, and Article IV of the Constitution. This is a chilling action, and it is imperative that your Department act immediately to show that this kind of unconstitutional abuse will not be tolerated in New Mexico or anywhere else in the United States,” the senators concluded.

America’s Largest Evangelical Magazine Continues to Drift to the Left

America's Largest Evangelical Magazine Continues to Drift to the Left
Misko from Bilbao but I wish it was Amsterdam or Biarritz, CC BY 2.0 , via Wikimedia Commons
I subscribed to Christianity Today for several years. For over half a century, the magazine and its accompanying website were the best source of news about what’s going on in mainstream Christianity,  not just in America but also throughout the world. Billy Graham founded the magazine in 1956 as an evangelical answer to the mainline magazine The Christian Counterpoint.

Vital reporting, fascinating features, and thoughtful book and music reviews characterized what Christianity Today was about. One of the most important things about the magazine was that it mostly remained apolitical yet theologically mainstream.

Rarely did the magazine get explicitly political — except when it came to presidential scandals. In 1974, the magazine stopped short of calling on Richard Nixon to step down. A 1998 editorial criticizing Bill Clinton after his impeachment called him “morally unable to lead,” while in 2019, editor-in-chief Mark Galli, who later dealt with a harassment scandal at the magazine — he said he may have “crossed lines” — wrote that Congress should remove Donald Trump from office after his impeachment.

But over the years, I started to notice a leftward drift at Christianity Today. From articles about “creation care” that weren’t much different from the rhetoric of the believers in another environmental phrase that contains two words that start with the letter C to heavily featuring and advocating for women in pastoral roles (ignoring millions of complementarian Christians across the world), Christianity Today started to sound more politically and theologically liberal.

Galli’s dumping on Trump was enough for me to cancel my subscription, but a podcast by the magazine about another scandal was more problematic. “The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill” told the story of Seattle’s Mars Hill Church and the troubling leadership of its pastor, Mark Driscoll. The story was fascinating and heartrending, and the production values made it even more compelling. The problem with the podcast came in the analysis, which relied on anti-male feminism and got in multiple digs at Trump and conservatives in general.

Two articles from over the summer make me question what direction Christianity Today is heading. One piece from August takes on Oliver Anthony’s hit song “Rich Men North of Richmond,” which has struck a chord with people across the nation. Author Hannah Anderson admitted that she had high hopes the first time she heard the tune.

“I was excited for a song in the tradition of Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie—music that names the inherent dignity of the poor, lodges a protest against establishment excess, and echoes Old Testament calls for justice, like God’s condemnation in Jeremiah 5:28 of those who ‘have grown fat and sleek’ yet ‘do not promote the case of the fatherless’ or ‘defend the just cause of the poor,’” Anderson writes.

As both a Christian and a fan of good music, I totally understand hoping for a Johnny Cash-type song — and I would welcome that. But Pete Seeger or Woody Guthrie? Sorry, but no one outside of the far left would welcome a song like that these days.

What’s Anderson’s problem with the song? She says it “doesn’t love its neighbors” because Anthony takes on those who abuse welfare. The author cites these lyrics:

Lord, we got folks in the street, ain’t got nothin’ to eat

And the obese milkin’ welfare

Well, God, if you’re 5-foot-3 and you’re 300 pounds

Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds

She then goes on to relate the time she was on food stamps and how undignified it was. Later, she lectures readers that “protest against wealthy elites and government corruption, no matter how justified, cannot ride on the backs of others who are also suffering. The price of accessing food through SNAP or a church food pantry must not be the poor’s dignity and self-worth.”

But the truth is that even Christians should have a problem with people abusing the system. Yes, it’s nice that we have a safety net for people, but the Bible doesn’t call for government welfare programs to be the primary solution to society’s problems. Anderson does laud churches and other Christian organizations for helping people in need, but it’s wrong for her to say that calling out those who abuse the system robs people of their “dignity and self-worth.”

Seeing Christian authors lose their minds to progressivism isn’t all that uncommon these days, but another article, also from August, might blow your mind. Author Beth Felker Jones compares the crowds flocking to see Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and the “Barbie” movie to church communities. Jones expresses her delight with the “theological themes” in “Barbie” and makes a cheap shot at conservative Christians when she points out that “Swift has expressed public frustration with ways American Christianity has been attached to partisan politics.” (I can only imagine that Swift doesn’t have any problems with progressive Christians.)

“The kids want communal meaning,” Jones concludes. “So I’m going to keep hoping—hoping that, maybe, what they want is the body of Christ.”

Instead of hoping, why not try to lead these kids to faith in Christ? Instead of taking potshots at Christians whose politics Taylor Swift might not agree with and lauding a movie that alienates half of those kids who need Jesus — boys and men — by saying that they all mistreat women, why not show them what a truly vibrant Christian community looks like?

I wish I knew what happened to Christianity Today. It’s reminiscent of what we’ve seen in so many large Christian organizations. John Cooper of the band Skillet, himself a committed and outspoken Christian, says that larger Christian organizations wind up “leaning left and punching right,” meaning that they’re so afraid of being labeled “evil conservatives” that they’ll take left-leaning positions and attack conservatives to avoid criticism. I have a feeling that’s what has happened to Christianity Today, and it makes me angry and sad.

‘Circumstantial but Devastating’ Video Resurfaces of Joe and Hunter Biden Talking Business With Potential Clients

‘Circumstantial but Devastating’ Video Resurfaces of Joe and Hunter Biden Talking Business With Potential Clients
AP Photo/Andrew Harnik
A potentially devastating video from 2005 has resurfaced showing Hunter Biden socializing with then-senator Joe Biden and potential clients, discussing “the weather.” I’m just kidding. They weren’t talking about the weather; they were talking business.

The video, which was taken after a speech in South Carolina, was recently featured on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports,” and it captures a moment where Hunter Biden stands on the sidelines while Joe Biden interacts with attendees, “working the room,” as Kelly describes it. After waiting patiently for the right moment, Hunter eventually joins the conversation to greet a couple with whom he had apparently discussed a potential business opportunity linked to his lobbying firm.

“At the right time, Hunter moves, all right, Hunter moves in as soon as it turns to business. Watch and listen here,” Kelly observed, before showing the exchange that occurred.

“Maybe we can work something out,” Joe Biden says to the couple in the video.

“Yeah, yeah, that is what we will do,” the woman excitedly replies.

“Hunter was just telling me about his law firm in Washington, his law firm,” replies the man next to her.

“Yeah,” Joe Biden says, clearly not surprised.

“Do you have a [business] card by any chance?” the man asks Hunter.

“I don’t, but I’ll give you my, uhh—” Hunter replies.

“Well let me give you mine,” the man offers.

“Yeah, then I’ll give you my [inaudible]… I gave ’em all away,” Hunter explains.

At this point, the woman starts engaging with Joe, while Hunter and the man go off to the side to have a separate conversation that the camera can’t pick up.

“You see it right there. That’s how it worked,” Kelly observed. “Circumstantial but devastating.”

Related: The Hunter Biden Indictments Are a Ruse. Here’s Why.

This took place while Joe Biden was a senator. He wasn’t even vice president yet, and it appears that he and Hunter had been working political events for years to make business deals. For sure, business only got better when Joe Biden became vice president and yielded more influence. That they were doing this out in the open with a camera on them tells you how little shame they had and leaves me wondering how many more deals were done similarly out of sight of the cameras or behind closed doors for years.

While the new impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden involves influence-peddling during his time as vice president, it’s quite clear the shady Biden family business was going on well before that.
