TRUMP AGAIN THREATENS TO INVOKE INSURRECTION LAW AFTER ATTACKS ON SUPPORTERS AT WHITE HOUSE

Donald Trump is once again threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act to deal with violent protesters. The act gives the president the authority to deploy the military within the borders of the United States during times of civil unrest. As president, Trump has the power to send in the military to enforce federal law in places where the orderly processes of government are absent. The Insurrection Act has been used dozens of times since its passage in 1807 but rarely since the 1960s.

President Lyndon Johnson invoked the Insurrection Act in 1967 to quell riots in Detroit. President Kennedy used the act to deploy troops to southern states to enforce desegregation.

The difference in this instance is that local governments appear to be unwilling to enforce the law and protect people and property. That certainly happened on Thursday night after Trump’s acceptance speech at the RNC.

Washington Times:

“They took tremendous abuse,” Mr. Trump said. “Rand Paul was in big trouble last night. He’s a friend of mine. They walk out and they get accosted and they get abused. They get spit on. It’s a disgrace.”

He blamed Washington, D.C., Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser for allowing the “anarchists” to get close to the White House and vowed, “We’re not going to allow that to happen.”

“Our country’s going to change,” the president said. “We’re not supposed to go in, unless we call it an ‘insurrection.’ But you know what we’re going to do? We’re going to have to look at it. [White House Chief of Staff] Mark Meadows is here. and we’re going to have to look at it, because we’re not going to let that happen to people that go to the White House to celebrate our country.”

Invoking the Insurrection Act would lead to weeping hysterics from the left. All subsequent violence in the streets would be blamed on Trump — an irony that would be lost on most of the left. But Trump is outraged that Senator Rand Paul and several others were accosted after leaving the White House following the president’s speech.

And he has correctly sized up the political situation as Democratic nominee Joe Biden, seeing his poll numbers dropping and opposition to the riots growing, will begin campaigning in person soon.

“The poll numbers have swung,” Mr. Trump said. “Today it was announced that Joe Biden is coming out of the basement, because the poll numbers have totally swung. It was a rapid swing.”

He taunted his rival, “Sleepy Joe said he’s coming out [to campaign] in 10 days. That’s like an eternity in Trump-ville. That’s a long time. That’s a big percentage of the remaining time. That’s alright. He’s much better off where he is.”

The effect on the presidential race if Trump invokes the insurrection law will be a wash. Since about 90 percent of the country has made up its mind about Trump already, most voters will interpret Trump’s invoking of the act through well-established partisan prisms. They will see it either as a typical Trump reaction or more evidence that the president wants to be a dictator. It will barely register in either support or opposition in the polls.

 

SOCIALIST TERRORISTS ASSAULT SENATOR RAND PAUL & HIS WIFE AFTER RNC

Socialist terrorists who have been attacking American cities, burning large swaths of them to the ground and terrorizing innocent and peaceful citizens have begun assaulting politicians in a new campaign of political terrorism.

The first attack in this new campaign was launched primarily against Senator Rand Paul and his wife as the pair were leaving the Republican National Convention following President Trump’s acceptance of party nomination on the evening of August 27.

Video captured at the time shows Senator Paul and his wife attempting to walk down the street guarded by several police officers. The small group is surrounded by a large and increasingly violent crowd of socialist terrorists whose bloodlust surges as the video rolls. Mrs. Paul, head down, appears to lead Senator Paul forward by the hand as the terrorist crowd chants, screams and presses in toward the couple.

As the crowd’s aggression grows, the officer to Senator Paul’s left is violently shoved by an off-camera protestor. The officer stumbles backward into the Senator, nearly falling, while Rand Paul, also knocked off balance, helps prevent the officer from falling.

A longer video shows the aggressive crowd gathering and chanting “say her name” in reference to Breonna Taylor, who was killed by police gunfire in her apartment. Her death occurred after police, serving a “no-knock” warrant, were fired upon by Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker, according to the Louisville Courier Journal.

Ironically, and apparently unknown or of no concern to the malcontent thugs attacking the Senator and his wife, Rand Paul is an opponent of the very type of no-knock raids that resulted in the death of Breonna Taylor. In fact, on June 11, Senator Paul introduced legislation to end the use of such raids.

“After talking with Breonna Taylor’s family, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s long past time to get rid of no-knock warrants. This bill will effectively end no-knock raids in the United States,” Senator Paul said of his measure. As introduced by Paul, the title of the measure is the “Justice for Breonna Taylor Act.”

Posting to Twitter, Senator Paul described the attack he faced on the streets of Washington, DC, thanking police for saving his life.

“Just got attacked by an angry mob of over 100, one block away from the White House. Thank you to @DCPoliceDept for literally saving our lives from a crazed mob.”

On August 28, the morning after the attack in the streets of D.C., Senator Paul described the incident in more detail during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

“They're attempting to push the police over to get to me, so at one point they push a policeman backwards, he stumbles and he's trying to catch his balance and I catch the back of his flak jacket to stabilize him to make sure he's OK because he's our defense," Paul said. “If he's down, the mob's loose on us.”

The Senator also noted that he and his wife, not to mention the police escorting him, faced serious injury or death at the hands of the gathered terrorist crowd.

“I truly believe this with every fiber of my being, had they gotten at us they would have gotten us to the ground, we might not have been killed, might just have been injured by being kicked in the head, or kicked in the stomach until we were senseless,” he said.

“You’ve seen the pictures of what they do to you. If the police are not there, if you defund the police, if we become Portland, if America becomes Portland, what's going to happen is people are going to be pummeled and kicked in the head and left senseless on the curb,” he he told the Fox program. “That would have happened to us, I promise you, had we not had the D.C. Police to support us. We are thankful we have police, and we've got to wake up. We can't have the whole country, we can't have Joe Biden rule the country and have no police. I mean, we can't walk down the street in D.C. safely now. That's how bad it is.”

Biden, a typically shifty Democrat, claims he doesn’t agree with defunding the police. But as the New York Post editorial board noted on August 9, when “asked if money should be ‘redirected’ away from cops, he replied, ‘Yes, absolutely.’”

Senator Paul is now calling for the FBI to make arrests and investigate interstate criminal traffic that is behind the socialist terrorism hitting America’s streets.

“I believe there are going to be people who are involved with the attack on us that actually were paid to come here, are not from Washington, D.C., and are sort of paid to be anarchists,” Senator Paul said. “This is disturbing because really, if you're inciting a riot that's a crime, but if you're paying someone to incite a riot that person needs to go to jail as well.”

Summarizing what happened to him after the RNC, he said: “They were inciting a riot and they would have killed us had the police not been there.”

Senator Paul and his wife were not the only couple to be assaulted leaving the Republican National Convention. Another couple were followed by a hyper-aggressive shouting crowd while trying to enter what appeared to be their hotel. The crowd grew increasingly aggressive and celebrated when the couple were barred from entry and appeared trapped.

Also confronted by the mob was Representative Brian Mast of Florida.

All of this, violent as it has been, appears to be a prelude to the beginning of what may be a militant revolutionary attempt to remove the Trump administration from office before the election.

The organization Refuse Fascism, associated with 1960s Weather Underground (see more about the Weather Underground here) terrorist Bill Ayers (see Ayers' name on a Refuse Fascism poster here) and tied to both Antifa and George Soros, is presently calling for 60 days of revolutionary activity aimed at the apparently violent ouster of the Trump administration from the White House.

On its website, Refuse Fascism invited the violent crowds that confronted Senator Paul and others in D.C. to “Protest Trump’s Nomination Speech,” calling for “Trump/Pence Out Now!” The next day, August 28, the organization is calling for rioters to join its “‘Get Your Knee Off Our Necks’ March on Washington.” The organization’s main pressure campaign is schedule to start on September 5.

“We are at a “stop everything” moment in history. September 5 needs to be a significant outpouring inspiring 60 days of struggle,” the organization says on its website.

The organization continues, ominously: “This election, if there is an election, will be a showdown over the form of rule in this country.” Then the call for a coup: “Now is the time to marshal the people for a determined struggle to demand the Trump/Pence Regime get OUT NOW. All who have been demonized and criminalized by this regime and the millions who hate Trump and what he stands for must unite with an unwavering resolve to remove this regime from power at the soonest possible time.”

Perilous times, indeed, and leftist militant terrorists appear ready and willing to continue to implement ever more violent tactics as part of the revolutionary agenda.

Rioters Frighten People on VIP Bus

Protesters blocked, and then hopped on, a bus carrying VIPs. They look like they’re having fun. I’m sure the people inside the bus were terrified they’d be mobbed or set on fire.

As the crowds came out of the protected area, they were forced to go through a gauntlet of people yelling, screaming, jumping at them, using filthy language, and doing their best to intimidate them.

The mob followed people walking away from the White House. The terrorist bunch was free to surround and assault this man, who had come to the National Mall to watch the firework show after the president’s speech. They pushed him multiple times and shoved him to the ground as he tried to walk with his wife to a safe area. There wasn’t a safe spot.

They threw liquid at him, and a guy with a bullhorn put it directly in the man’s ear and yelled, “get the f*ck out!” The mob called him a “piece of sh*t,”

As he lay there for a few seconds looking up at the mob, he was probably wondering if he’d make it out alive.

Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA blamed the melee on D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for failing to secure the streets near the White House. He called the violent mob “their voting base.”

Bowser has made no secret of her contempt for the Trump administration.

Maybe this was her way of sending a message to the president.

We vote in 67 days. There’s still time to turn D.C. into Portland and don’t think the mob won’t try.

(August 27, 2020 / JNS) A fire at the Chabad House at the University of Delaware in Newark has been ruled an arson, according to investigators.

The building was set ablaze on Tuesday at about 11 p.m. Damages were estimated to be between $150,000 and $200,000.

The Chabad center will need to be completely demolished and rebuilt, Rabbi Motti Flikshtein, program director at Chabad of Wilmington, told JNS.

According to Flikshtein, the arson was not a case of anti-Semitism, as the University of Delaware Chabad was one of a number of buildings that have been set ablaze by a serial arsonist in the area.

A fundraising page has been set up to help rebuild the Chabad. As of press time, it has raised more than $52,500 with a fundraising goal of $75,000. And a criminal investigation is ongoing.

Classes at the university are scheduled to begin next week.

“The attack at the University of Delaware is a stark and painful reminder that anti-Semitism is alive and well in the United States in 2020,” said Orthodox Union executive director for public policy Nathan Diament in a statement. “Even in the midst of a pandemic, there is no time to pause our vigilance against such heinous acts of anti-Semitism. We must continue to do everything we can to protect the Jewish community against those who seek to do us harm.”

Rabbi Jacob Lieberman, president of Delaware Rabbis and Cantors, and Seth J. Katzen, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Delaware, said in a statement that “while this heinous act of intentional damage and destruction has yet to be and may not be determined by our local authorities to be a hate crime, our Jewish community is nonetheless alarmed by this act of aggression against one of our communal institutions.

“At a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise, an incident like this, whether officially a hate crime or not, touches many of us in a deeper way as trauma,” they said. “It is upsetting to learn that any Jewish community has been intentionally harmed through arson or vandalism, let alone one in the heart of our very own community.”

In a statement, Newark Mayor Jerry Clifton said “it is heartbreaking to learn the fire at the Chabad center was set intentionally.”

“This is a sickening act of hostility that threatens the safety and security of our inclusive, welcoming neighborhoods. My thoughts are with the Jewish community and those affected by this tragedy,” he continued. “I have faith that the Newark Police Department and partner agencies will work tirelessly to identify the individual or individuals responsible and bring them to justice.”

BLOG 20 - 8 POINTS OF PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY

About a month ago I discerned through the 8 points of Progressive Christianity on my Instagram.  These 8 points are up on the Progressive Christianity website found here.

My heart in doing this to help Bible believing Christians understand where Progressive Christians are coming from and what the implications are for following their teachings.  I also want to show that Progressive Christianity is not following the true God of the Bible. 

Before you read, please understand that not all Progressive Christians believe all of these 8 points.  The major belief they all have in common though is that the Bible is not their authority.  Experience and feeling tend to be the authority of a Progressive Christian. 

1. “Believe that following the path of the teacher Jesus can lead to healing and wholeness, a mystical connection to “God,” as well as an awareness and experience of not only the Sacred, but the Oneness and Unity of all life;"

This is the first point from progressive christianity.org. Within the first line we can see that Progressive Christians deny that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. They reduce Christ to a human teacher. Such that if they follow what this good teacher taught, they will find healing wholeness in their souls, and they will have a connection with god.

This is very subtle and speaks straight to our flesh. We naturally want to show how "good" we are by ascribing to a list of things to prove to ourselves and others that we aren't bad people. That we are better than others, since we do all these great things. In the PC mind set, by following teacher jesus, they are given a set of rules to show themselves and others they are good Christians. Thus, this will give them healing and wholeness, or in other words, life fulfillment. Then through their goodness, they will achieve a connection with what they call god. 

Next, once this connection is achieved they will understand the secrets of the Universe… this is new age rhetoric. And very unbiblical. 

The only way to know God is through Jesus Christ. If we believe that all we have to do is follow a good teacher to be fulfilled and then know the secrets of the universe, then we believe in a system of works designed to put us in bondage, build our pride, and feed our sin nature; ultimately sending us to Hell. 

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

John 3:36 ESV

2. "Affirm that the teachings of Jesus provide but one of many ways to experience “God,” the Sacredness, Oneness and Unity of life, and that we can draw from diverse sources of wisdom, including Earth, in our spiritual journey;"

This is the second point of the 8 points of Progressive Christianity found on their website. If you reduce Jesus Christ down to a good moral teacher, it makes so much sense that his teachings are one of many ways to god. Since most Progressive Christians believe in universalism, that Christ died for all regardless of what people believe about Him, there is no need to be exclusive. Because everyone means all religions too.

I would argue that most if not all Progressive Christians want some sort of relationship with God but since they keep denying their sin it's not possible. And since the jesus they follow is all about following a set of rules to be a good, moral, and spiritual person, they look to other religions or the new age to find their experience of god. 

Looking at all the world religions and the new age we can see that all of them, except Biblical Christianity, are set up for people to follow a set of rules to achieve something or to get into heaven or to get god. Or in other words to show they are good people.   

This statement by PC is also a way of saying we "respect" your experience of god. Since your religion, experience, and philosophy has the same outcome as ours, to be a good person, all religions and ideas must be the same. 

Jesus Christ was very clear when He said in John 14:6. "... 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" There is no way around that my friend. My professors at the PC seminary I went to couldn't even refute that claim. 

Keep your eyes open to words like interfaith, unity, and ecumenicalism. These are buzz words in PC. When you hear these words, start asking questions. Most likely, it's to promote the second point of Progressive Christianity.

3. "Seek and create community that is inclusive of ALL people, including but not limited to:

Conventional Christians and questioning skeptics,

Believers and agnostics,

Those of all races, cultures, and nationalities

Those of all sexual orientations and all gender identities,

Those of all classes and abilities,

Those historically marginalized,

All creatures and plant life;"

First, what is Biblical love? Biblical love is about laying our lives down for those around us, putting their best interest over our own best interest. Jesus showed us this love by dying for us, by taking our place and paying the price for our sin.  He came to die for our best interest so we could be free from sin and live with God forever. Biblical love points people to Christ and the Gospel so that they can be saved from the wrath of God. 

In the third point of Progressive Christianity, their definition of inclusion reveals what they truly believe love is. Love is acceptance of every person, including acceptance of all of their sin. 

If everyone is striving to follow this teacher jesus and everyone else in other religions around the world are doing the same thing, they must be accepting of sin. Because everyone is trying to make themselves a better person. By accepting everyone and their sin, they have loved like they think their jesus did. 

We all know this standard is impossible to live by. How many families are falling apart? We can't even accept our own families let alone everyone we meet. But if you fail at this type of love, they say just keep trying. 

This is what makes PC so binding. It either puts you in bondage or builds your pride. But most importantly, it keeps you a slave to your sin. 

This type of all inclusive love is a lie from hell and evil. By not pointing people to Christ and the Gospel, there is no hope for them and leaving them to God's eternal judgment is one of the most unloving things we can do. 

4. “Know that the way we behave towards one another and Earth is the fullest expression of what we believe, therefore we vow to walk as Jesus might have walked in this world with radical compassion, inclusion, and bravery to confront and positively change the injustices we experience as well as those we see others experiencing;"

One of the things we need to remember is that Progressive Christians do not submit themselves to the authority of the Bible. Because they don't believe it was divinely-inspired they don't use a Biblical understanding of the words "compassion" and "justice" as examples. They look to the world or their own experience to interpret those terms and apply them in a non-Biblical way. 

The fourth point of Progressive Christianity really breaks down what it means to follow their moral teacher jesus. Here we have a tangible list of rules so they know they are following him the correct way and thus they know they are "good" Christians. The language used leaves it up to the reader on how to interpret and implement each rule. 

This, I believe, is the point where well meaning Biblical Christians can get deceived by PC.  Christ tells us to have compassion, and empathy for the downtrodden and oppressed. The Bible is very clear on how to do these things. The issue within PC is that what Jesus says is filtered through a misinterpretation of love, that I mentioned yesterday, and the misunderstanding of Who Jesus Christ truly is. And that all comes from the lack of authority they ascribe to Scripture.  

As Christians, we can not trust everything or anyone who claims to be Christian.  We must check everything with scripture. Just because it sounds good or sounds Christian doesn't mean it is. This is why it is so important to renew our minds daily with the Word of God. That way we can spot the Truth from lies and know what is good and evil.

5. "Find grace in the search for understanding and believe there is more value in questioning with an open mind and open heart, than in absolutes or dogma;"

Progressive Christians believe it is more humble to question everything and claim that it is not possible to know God's will; better for everyone to have questions and doubts but never really seek to find the true answers. 

I see this point being born out of a legalistic approach to Biblical Christianity. Many Progressive Christians have been hurt by the church and the hypocrisy they may have seen in other people's lives. If they were taught that to be a Christian requires following all of the rules in the Bible perfectly, but everyone, including themselves, are failing at it, of course they will reject what they were taught. 

What fills that gap?  They will tend to look at true Christians as very arrogant people. However, by not seeking out answers to their questions, they will become deeply proud of how "humble" they are. All while still being slaves to sin and closing themselves off to hearing the True Gospel.

And those who want to have the Christian label without submitting to Christ will gladly take this point to heart. If questioning without finding true answers makes them humble people, then it's a check mark off the list of virtues that prove them righteous and a 'good' person.  Which all goes back to the first point of following the good moral teacher jesus. 

Things to look out for with this point are  phrases like "Is that what God really meant?" Or "It is impossible to know God's will." These phrases and others like them are used by the enemy to plant doubt in our hearts when it comes to the Word of God. 

6. "Work toward peace and justice among all people and all life on Earth;"

In Progressive Christianity most believe in a type of universalism; that Christ died to save everyone regardless of what they believe about Him. And if this is true, it makes sense that they would work towards these things to make the world a better place. 

This is another tangible way Progressive Christians follow the moral teacher jesus. They are usually very active in societal issues and charity work. The work is done in a worldly way, taking no consideration of what Biblical peace and justice look like.  They are helping people but doing it in vain. They neglect to share the true Gospel of Jesus Christ with those they are helping and just make them comfortable with their sin. 

Peace and justice are Biblical principles that must be seen through the eyes of the Gospel in order to be done in a godly way that glorifies God. We must look to Scripture and study it diligently to understand and apply it's truths.  

This is another point where Biblical Christians can be deceived by PC. Jesus does call us to do this type of work; we should all be serving. But again, PC does not believe that Scripture is authoritative so they are looking to worldly ideas and structures to fix a spiritual problem. Many Christians don't know that and get deceived by what PC claims. By exploring their honest and compassionate desire to help, the enemy leads them into his trap.

7. "Protect and restore the integrity of our Earth and all of Creation;"

I listened to a story once about a group of PC seminarians who wrote down their sins to a plant. They confessed to it and vowed to do better in protecting the environment. This was at a prominent seminary in the U.S. that has sadly turned from Jesus Christ.

Point seven is another way Progressive Christians attempt to follow moral teacher jesus. And it usually turns into an idol; worshipping creation. This is another way those who follow PC can make themselves feel like a good person.  

This can be extreme, where like in the story above, they become overly apologetic to the environment, seeking to make reparations for their environmental sins; an ideology known as Eco-justice. Or it can be small things like buying reusable straws or bags. But all of this boils down to checking another virtue off the list defining a righteous person. 

As Christians we are called to be good stewards of creation. God has given us the earth to treat well for His glory. But we also must understand that creation is under a curse because of our sin. This earth will never be perfect. It will be when Jesus Christ returns and those who are His join Him for eternity on the new earth where there will be no more sin.

8. "Commit to a path of life-long learning, compassion, and selfless love on this journey toward a personally authentic and meaningful faith."

We have come to our last point of Progressive Christianity. We can see that they want to continually educate themselves to be better people according to the standards of this world. They believe following Christ means following a moral teacher jesus; who is only one of many ways to god. The more they can learn, the more they can prove to themselves they are good enough for Heaven. The more they can check off their list of virtues. 

Biblically, we know even our good and righteous deeds are sinful and as filthy rags to our Holy God. We have all fallen short of God's glory. It will never be possible to be compassionate enough, or love others enough to earn God's favor. 

At the root of all of this is pride. Progressive Christians and others like them refuse to acknowledge their sin of self righteousness, or in other words,  pride.  They reject the True Gospel of Jesus Christ, instead believing they are morally superior and can earn utopia by their works. If we can never admit we are sick, we can never be healed. 

And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

At a time when a record number of Americans are buying firearms, many for the first time, Gov. Phil Murphy wants to shut down this trend, just like everything else in the Garden State.  The Governor has never hidden his disdain for private gun ownership, and he has certainly proven throughout the COVID 19 crisis that he isn’t afraid to be heavy-handed.  So, few people were actually surprised this week when he proposed drastic fee hikes on gun permits. 

The Governor rolled out the enormous fee increases in his budget proposal.  Under his new tax scheme, the cost of a pistol purchase permit would increase from $2 to $48 and Firearms Identification cards would increase from $5 to $98.  It’s also important to keep in mind that the vast majority of states don’t even require these bureaucratic hoops in the first place.  This amounts to a poll tax on gun ownership and a fundamental constitutional right.  The Governor, a Wall Street multi-millionaire who enjoys around-the-clock protection and a taxpayer-paid security detail, has clearly made his position known: elitists with money have more rights than average citizens.

The Senate Budget Committee and Appropriations Committee is taking public input on Gov. Murphy’s budget proposal.  It’s important to make your voice heard during the two-week time frame for submission of testimony (August 28 – September 11).

Turkish and Greek Naval Forces Face Off in Tense Eastern Mediterranean Confrontation

Turkey and Greece are threatening to go to war again. The two NATO allies are facing off over a potentially small natural gas find in the Eastern Mediterranean. But it’s not about the gas, nor is it about insufferable Turkish Islamic President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, although it probably should be. Erdogan has been flexing his muscles throughout the region and this latest standoff between the two historical enemies is more evidence of his imperialistic designs on the region.

Erdogan fancies himself a latter-day Ottoman sultan and would dearly love to dominate the region from the Mediterranean Sea to Iran. To that end, he has struck a deal with Libya that creates a naval corridor connecting Turkey to the Mediterranean. That’s all well and good, except there are several Greek islands that are in that corridor, including Rhodes and Crete. Greece was miffed that Erdogan forgot to consult his NATO ally about the deal with Libya and relations have been frosty ever since.

The current spat seems a minor irritation. But taken with all the other moves by Erdogan in the Eastern Mediterranean, the confrontation would seem to be foreordained.

The Spectator:

The practicalities of the dispute are straightforward: Turkey dispatched the Oruc Reis to survey an area of the Mediterranean which it claims is within its Exclusive Economic Zone, giving it the right to search for fossil fuels. Greece believes the area sits on its continental shelf. It’s basing its claim on the UN’s Convention on the Law of the Sea, which states that even the smallest of islands have their own EEZ. Turkey, one of only 15 countries that hasn’t signed the UN Convention, is unwilling to accept these islands have a claim to the territory. As the struggle for Indian/Chinese dominance in the South China Sea shows, countries increasingly view their EEZs in terms similar to sovereign soil, as it’s becoming easier to extract the resources hidden in their depths.

Both sides have been securing allies in the dispute. The EU and NATO are officially neutral, but that hasn’t stopped France from sending warships to help its ally Greece and sticking it to Erdogan, who tried to make France look bad in Libya by backing rebels against the officially recognized government. Greece also signed a maritime deal with Egypt. As for Erdogan, he got Russian President Putin to help. The uneasy alliance between the two was solidified by Putin’s sale of thousands of advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Turkey.

It’s not a good sign when two historic adversaries start forcing nations in the region to choose sides. But both nations see the confrontation as being worth the risk of war.

Putting French posturing to one side, the issue for Greece is that Turkey simply does not want to talk seriously about the eastern Mediterranean. During the negotiations, the Turkish have attempted to add a host of other issues and claims to the agenda, in effect advancing their ‘Blue Homeland’ doctrine. The Blue Homeland, first championed by the Turkish admiral Cem Gürdeniz in 2006, is a maritime plan which would see Turkey’s ‘blue’ naval territory extend to the middle of the Aegean, halfway between the Greek mainland and the Turkish coast. This would effectively surround Greek islands like Lesvos and Chios, meaning islands with tens of thousands of people on them would potentially be encircled by a foreign nation’s sovereign waters.

Turkey announced naval live-fire exercises in the region — not exactly routine when there are dozens of warships from several nations sailing in the Eastern Med keeping an eye on each other.

Neither side appears willing to give an inch at the moment. No negotiations are scheduled. Indeed, President Erdogan does not appear to want to talk anyway. Greece is trying to keep the crisis at a low simmer, unlike Erdogan, whose bombastic rhetoric looks to rile up Turkish nationalists.

Greece wants the EU to sanction Turkey, but that’s not going to happen. The Europeans have taken a decidedly hands-off approach to the conflict. And if anyone cares, NATO appears paralyzed by the row.

A war between the two is not a certainty, but given the history of these two countries, I wouldn’t bet against it.

They hate small business, they hate the middle class, and they hate the fact that the average American has the freedom to speak out against them. And they want it all to end.

Kamala Harris, in response to the lack of coverage in the leftist media of the riots and chaos causing destruction around America, says that these riots “are not going to end” either before election day, or after election day. “They are not going to let up, and they should not. And we should not.” Harris says that this is a “movement” that “everyone should take note of.”

Steven Furtick is more than just a false teacher. He is a demonic liar, a deceiver, and if anything, more like Satan than any angel of light he masquerades as — and he think’s he’s Jesus. He preaches a false prosperity gospel and bilks his congregation for money. He has made absurd claims about not only the Scriptures but God himself such as claiming that God reflects his image (rather than man reflecting God’s image), that without man, God is just an abstract concept, and denies God’s sovereignty over His own plans. And just last week, he embraced the heresy of his close associate, T.D. Jakes — modalism.

To add to that, he also recently preached a sermon declaring that God is “energy” and that he is a “molecular structure that fills all in all” — then proceeds to assert that this is what it means that Jesus was “there from the beginning.” His heresies seem to never continue piling on.

Now, Steven Furtick says that he had to “correct” his co-pastor for telling people who want to come to Christ that they can believe in Jesus “without a doubt.” According to Furtick, believing “without any doubt” is a prayer than cannot be honestly prayed.

I told him never again, when you stand in the pulpit at Elevation, do I want you to put people in a position to where you’re telling them to pray something they can’t honestly pray. In fact, don’t put them in a position to pray something that you can’t honestly pray. Because there is not one of you in the room even with tabs in your pink bible that can honestly say “without a doubt.”

Furtick, of course, preaches in opposition to the Scriptures, which says that those who doubt are double-minded, unstable, and should expect not to receive anything from the Lord.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. –James 1:5-8

Today, during a convocation at the highly-respected Southern Baptist-affiliated Christian Liberty University, notoriously false teacher and serial blasphemer of God, Andy Stanley, told Liberty University students that people, like John MacArthur, who believe that Jesus commands Christians to meet are “wrong.”

Shaking his fist in mocking frustration, Stanley says that Jesus “never played the God card,” and never claimed to be God, and therefore, somehow, he concluded, that Jesus never commanded Christians to meet.

Stanley also complained that John MacArthur said “not so nice” things about him, so he has no interest in having a conversation with him.

Of course, MacArthur was right about Stanley — that Stanley doesn’t know what a church is and definitely does not know how to shepherd a flock. It’s why most of Stanley’s congregation are goats and, hopefully, the few that God has chosen out of that congregation, will see the light and exit that demonic spawn of Hell’s “church” building.

Thankfully, there are men like John MacArthur who are willing to call wolves wolves and speak the truth, stand up to tyranny, and be a light and a witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ despite the many who are unwilling to do so or just want to stand on the sidelines.

Liberty University Invites False Teacher, Andy Stanley, to Preach Convocation

Liberty University, the largest Christian University in the country — which was formerly led by Jerry Falwell, Jr. who just resigned amid immoral and erratic behavior — has invited one of the nation’s most notorious false teachers to speak at convocation today.

Andy Stanley, pastor of Northpoint Church in Atlanta, is best known for blaspheming God and denying the Scriptures. Stanley recently announced that his own church would be closed for at least the remainder of this year because of the coronavirus — despite the fact that the coronavirus has had a relatively low impact on church congregations and has not been the monster pandemic it was made out to be.

Stanley is famous for his teaching that the Church needs to “unhitch” from the Old Testament and declaring that the Scriptures are unnecessary to Christianity. He teaches that God loves us more than he loves his own son, Jesus, and believes that even if you don’t know Jesus, you will have a better life by following his teachings — which is patently and absurdly false.

Stanley teaches that openly gay, practicing homosexuals can be saved and also teaches that the Ten Commandments don’t apply to Christians. All-in-all, there can be no doubt that Stanley has been a blasphemer of God and a false teacher that God has allowed to continue to serve his own good purposes.

Now, Liberty University is feeding their own sheep to this wolf.

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- As the saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.” Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is taking the mantra to a new level by proposing “stronger gun control” in the Garden State. This time, he’s using the COVID-19 pandemic to raise taxes on law-abiding gun owners and those wishing to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Gov. Murphy has tried his best during the crisis to penalize lawful gun owners, but now it will be up to the state legislature to approve or reject his new antigun proposals. New Jersey residents shouldn’t hold their breath as antigun Democrats control both chambers by wide margins.

Gun Control for You is Nothing New

More gun control has been a pillar for Gov. Murphy since he took office in 2018. In his first two years in office, he pushed for and signed into law 10 more-stringent gun control laws in a state already known for having some of the strictest gun laws in the country. In 2020, the spreading coronavirus pandemic gave him an opportunity to do even more, and he didn’t delay.

Nearly 5 million Americans became so concerned for their safety and that of their loved ones and property that purchased a firearm for the first time. The reasons were all around us. Reports of local law enforcement becoming stretched thin, criminals being released from jails and quickly committing violent crimes again, and now more recently violent riots and looting in cities and cries of “defund the police” have increased.

Gov. Murphy, who now wants to levy more fees and taxes to close the COVID budget gaps, actively worked to keep gun buyers out of stores. He shut down firearm retailers and related businesses, deeming them “non-essential” at a time when they were most essential. He faced immediate backlash and lawsuits, leading him to backtrack and allow retailers to open again. Gov. Murphy tried explaining his reasoning, stating “I wasn’t thinking about the Bill of Rights.”

Raising Taxes as Means for More Gun Control

New Jersey is already known as a high-taxed blue state operating in the red. Now, to address next year’s budget shortfall and seeing an opportunity to further squelch the Second Amendment, Gov. Murphy proposed massive taxes and fees on firearms and ammunition such that he’d price out thousands of law-abiding citizens from exercising their God-given rights enshrined and protected by the Second Amendment.

Murphy’s budget proposal attempts to close a $5.6 billion – with a “B” – hole in the Garden State by hiking taxes and fees on firearm services and businesses that might generate $6 million. That amounts to one-tenth of one percent. It’s antigun window dressing and the governor knows it.

Gov. Murphy’s proposed antigun increases include raising the handgun purchasing permit fee 2,400 percent from $2 to $50; the cost of a firearm ID card by 1,900 percent from $5 to $100; the price of a handgun carry permit 7,900 percent from $50 to $400; the fee for a gun retail dealer license by 9,900 percent from $50 to $500; and the fee for a firearm manufacturer 900 percent from $150 to $1,500. There are, or course, additional fee increases as well.

If it all sounds familiar, it is.  Gov. Murphy tried and failed at this scheme before. This time, though, he’s tying it to a pandemic.

With more New Jersey handgun applications submitted so far in 2020 than in 2018 and 2019 combined, it’s no wonder law-abiding firearm owners, as well as those considering purchasing a gun for the first time, feel threatened. In trying to persuade the Democratic-controlled New Jersey legislature to approve his budget, Gov. Murphy assured elected officials these are “judiciously” considered hikes that are needed. In other words, be thankful the punishment doesn’t go further.

Antigun Birds of a Feather

Gov. Murphy isn’t alone in using the pandemic to infringe on the constitutional rights of lawful Americans. Gov. Murphy’s northern neighbor, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, behaved similarly as did New Mexico Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. These three governors have something else in common. They all forced gun stores to close during the pandemic despite the Department of Homeland Security saying gun stores are essential business.

So far this year more than 5 million Americans felt so compelled to protect themselves and their families that for the first time they exercised their Second Amendment rights and purchased a firearm. Thousands are from states with these governors at the top.

Punishing those who exercise their rights is abhorrent. Using it as an excuse to cover for poor leadership during a health crisis is not the sort of behavior citizens should expect from their governors.

of dollars in fines for illegally singing and holding indoor worship services. ... The state is armed with Newsom’s 
no-worship order and subpoenas. ... Liberty Counsel’s Founder Mat Staver says Newsom’s worship ban is clearly 
unconstitutional. ‘The same governor who encourages mass protests, bans all worship and is now fining churches 
for their right to assemble and worship. The same governor who says the church can meet for secular services, 
bans the church from having religious worship. This unconstitutional hostility against religious worship must end.’ 
Newsom has issued a rule against singing and chanting--even in worship in private homes. Then, he outlawed 
church worship. ... The pastor of Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Ventura County, Rob McCoy, was in court on Friday 
and fined $3,000 for holding three socially distanced worship services each Sunday on August 9th and 16th. ... 
McCoy was ready to go to jail on Sunday if need be. Senator Ted Cruz sent a supportive tweet, letting California l
eaders know he’s watching. ‘Thx for standing up for the flock and We the People! The bullies won’t win. We are 
with you, Pastor.’ In Santa Clara, county officers sent in agents to spy on North Valley Baptist Church, according to 
documents the county gave to the court. That church has been fined $10,000 for illegally singing in two worship 
services. Singing. ... In Los Angeles County on Monday, megachurch Pastor John McArthur of Grace Community 
Church went to court for a fourth time to fight the governor’s ban on worship. [The county is seeking $20,000 in 
damages. On August 25, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff refused the county’s request to grant 
a temporary restraining order against the church’s services.] McArthur issued a declaration on Monday, saying it’s 
clear that the County thinks it’s OK to let ‘congregants to gather to worship the Lord in parking lots, in parks, or 
perhaps beaches--but never in any church. From Grace Community Church’s perspective, this is nonsensical, and 
we view it as a direct ban on engaging in the worship which our faith requires.’” The previous report did not 
mention Harvest Church of Pasadena, Calif. “Last week, Pasadena’s chief assistant city prosecutor sent Harvest 
Church Pastor Che Ahn a letter, threatening fines and up to one year in jail for anyone who attends a future service
. [The letter, dated Aug. 13, reads:] ‘This letter is to remind you that violations of these orders are criminal in 
nature. Each day in violation is a separate violation and carries with it a potential punishment of up to one year in 
jail and a fine for each violation. ... Any violations in the future will subject your church, owners, administrators, 
operators, staff, and parishioners to the above-mentioned criminal penalties as well as the potential closure of your
Church.’ ... Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver says, ‘These actions of the City of Pasadena and 
Gov. Gavin Newsom are akin to repressive foreign regimes, not America where the First Amendment guarantees

QANON groups and imposed restrictions on an additional 1,950 QAnon groups on its platform and 10,000 accounts
on Instagram.” QAnon is a hodgepodge of conspiracy theories based on enigmatic reports published by an 
anonymous person known as “Q” who allegedly has access to ultra top-secret information. There is no evidence 
that “Q” is anyone other than some goofball with too much time on his hands having a lark, but QAnon believers 
see Q’s publications as “breadcrumbs” of evidence for their enlightenment. There are fragments of truth, of course,
as in all such things, but largely it is a will-o’-the-wisp world of inscrutable poetry, numerology, secret signals, etc. 
An example of a Q message is this: “Think SC vote to confirm (coming). No Name action. Every dog has its day. 
Enjoy the show.” It is as murky and meaningless as a Nostradamus prophecy. QAnon is an Alice Wonderland in 
which nothing is solid, nothing is sure, nothing means what it seems to mean. The main theme is that presidents 
before Trump were part of a cabal of “deep-state” international evil operators who control America and the world 
(the media, politicians, Hollywood), operating death squads and pedophile rings and a great many other secret 
things. Trump was chosen by military generals to run for president to destroy this cabal, which he will supposedly 
do in a purge called “The Storm” (in which tens of thousands of deep state operatives, including Hilly Clinton, will 
be arrested and subjected to military tribunals, etc.). Trump supposedly flashes secret signals to QAnon insiders. 
One of the theories is that John. R. Kennedy, Jr., and his wife faked their own plane crash deaths and went 
undercover to work with Trump. QAnon is associated with a hodgepodge of conspiracies pertaining to Covid-19, 
9-11, UFOs, 5G technology and mind control, etc. It is as nutty as a fruitcake. While a lot of people are attracted 
to such things and are true believers, a lot of the followers are doubtless just entertaining themselves like “Q” is. 
To any Q followers in Bible-believing churches, we would say, you don’t need Q; you have the infallible Word of 
God! Stop wasting your time chasing will-o’-the-wisp in a rabbit hole and become a serious Bible student and 
disciple of Jesus Christ. And to Facebook and other social media companies, we would say, by all means ban 
violent speech and pornography and pedophilia and such things, but you should not be censors of speech that is 
legal under law. Allegedly nutty or not, it should be none of your business. Liberals and leftists, et al, have plenty 
of their own fake news and conspiratorial nuttiness. Do you want someone censoring your free speech?

You know it is good news when CNN and their bobbleheads are very upset. On Monday, the CDC updated its testing guidelines to say that not everyone needs to get a test for COVID-19: You only need a test if you have symptoms or have had close contact with an infected individual. They have finally defined close contact to be within six feet for at least 15 minutes.


Direct quote from the updated guidelines:


If you do not have COVID-19 symptoms and have not had close contact with someone known to have a COVID-19 infection – You do not need to be tested.


The guidance went even further:


If you have been in close contact (within 6 feet) of a person with a COVID-19 infection for at least 15 minutes but do not have symptoms:


    

  • You do not necessarily need a test unless you are a vulnerable individual or your health care provider or State or local public health officials recommend you take one.
    • 





It goes on to say that if you are not at high risk, you should monitor yourself for symptoms and get testing under the protocols for symptomatic individuals. This revision should bring an immediate end to screening protocols for employers, schools, and just about everywhere else. And though Dr. Leana Wen, former Planned Parenthood director, says this makes no sense, it is actually entirely consistent.


Nordic Countries Accelerate Opening and Abandon COVID-19 Testing Plans


On July 17, 2020, the agency updated its guidelines to discourage retesting individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. This change was a research-based decision attributed to a greater understanding of how long a person remains infectious. Additionally, it highlighted one of the significant flaws in the PCR test used to detect the virus.


According to the guidance:


If you take a test and test positive, you do not need to repeat a test. Unless your illness required hospitalization, you can return to normal activities (e.g., work or school) after the passage of 10 days from the onset of symptoms and 24 hours from when any fever has subsided on its own (without the aid of any fever-reducing medications).


Research cited on the site has demonstrated that a person with symptoms is no longer infectious under these conditions. In order to be contagious, a person must be harboring viruses capable of replicating with a load significant enough to transmit the disease. These parameters appear to have been established to the CDC’s satisfaction. Generally, the agency has been quite conservative in its assessments, so the evidence must be substantial.


When the CDC advised against retesting, it specifically stated that the PCR test can amplify RNA from a virus no longer capable of replicating for 90 days post-recovery. It would be typical to find this in recovered patients after their immune system has defeated COVID-19.


It can also be found in individuals who have never been infected by the virus. A positive test has never indicated an active infection or the ability to transmit the disease to others in the absence of symptoms. It could simply mean an individual has reactive T cells that eliminate COVID-19 through an exquisite and healthy immune response. This process may still leave viral debris in their airway that a PCR test can detect.


Dr. Beda M. Stadler, a Swiss biologist, emeritus professor, and former director of the Institute of Immunology at the University of Bern, asserted this following the T-cell reactivity findings published in several journals (emphasis mine):


So if we do a PCR corona test on an immune person, it is not a virus that is detected, but a small shattered part of the viral genome. The test comes back positive for as long as there are tiny shattered parts of the virus left. Correct: Even if the infectious viruses are long dead, a corona test can come back positive, because the PCR method multiplies even a tiny fraction of the viral genetic material enough [to be detected].

This reasoning is the same rationale the CDC gives for not retesting recovered individuals. With the addition of research into the specifics of the viral load that must be present to transmit the virus, they have refined their guidelines to follow the science.


All of this information should also help you discard the idea, asserted earlier this week, that there is a man in Hong Kong who was “reinfected.” An infection causes symptoms. Despite being hospitalized, it appears this man never developed any, because his immune system functioned as designed.


Yes, a new genetic strain was detected, so it was not viral debris from his previous infection. However, he developed a healthy amount of anti-bodies, and his T cells recognized enough of the virus to react. He never got sick. This reaction happens in our bodies routinely when we encounter pathogens we have seen all or part of before.



I hate to disagree with a doctor from Yale, but the patient was not reinfected if he had no symptoms. There is no evidence that he had virus particles capable of replication or transmission. If a PCR test was used, it could easily have amplified RNA that remained after a robust immune response. The only reason we got to observe this man’s normal, healthy immune response was because of screening protocols.


University of Hong Kong scientists claim to have the first evidence of someone being reinfected with the virus that causes COVID-19. Genetic tests revealed that a 33-year-old man returning to Hong Kong from a trip to Spain in mid-August had a different strain of the coronavirus than the one he’d previously been infected with in March, said Dr. Kelvin Kai-Wang To, the microbiologist who led the work.


The man had mild symptoms the first time and none the second time; his more recent infection was detected through screening and testing at the Hong Kong airport.


The CDC revised its guidance on testing after the announcement from Hong Kong, so that pretty much lets the cat out of the bag. I would venture a guess that if confronted, Dr. Redfield would have to admit that the myth of the asymptomatic super-spreader is pretty much over.

The CDC will most likely begin monitoring for COVID-19 the way they track the flu. They will test individuals who present with flu-like illnesses in their doctor’s office or the emergency room. And Dr. Birx has been clear about the need for sentinel testing in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Ultimately, this guidance will lead to more accurate counts of cases, where people have an active infection.


It is the beginning of the end for panic porn from the corporate media and justification for needless lockdowns and mandates. It is a great day indeed.

For roughly the last 8 years, the Evangelical Church has been stoking the fires of racial division by embracing a cultural movement that is opposed to the gospel and much more akin to Marxist revolutionary ideology than anything Jesus ever taught. Evangelical leaders, through outlets like The Gospel Coalition and the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) have been paving the way for the destruction of the visible church for years.


Through what has been dubbed the “woke church” movement, churches have now embraced Marxist ideologies such as Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, and identity politics. The vast majority of these leaders believe that by embracing such secular claptrap, they’re immune to the destruction coming their way.


In the wake of a handful of perceived instances of police brutality over the last few months, leftists have been hell-bent on tearing down Western civilization and replacing it with a totalitarian Socialist government that oppresses conservatism, private enterprise, the nuclear family, and Christianity. To them, these things stand in the way of their desired Communist Utopia.


As we see the destruction taking place in most of America’s major cities right now, private businesses are being burnt to the ground never to reopen again. Coupled with the endless lockdowns mandated by leftist politicians who support the Black Lives Matter terrorist organization, middle class business owners are being forced out of business and the middle class of America is being destroyed. The middle class — the working class — is being increasingly forced into government dependence.


Make no mistake about it, this is exactly what they want. And they will not stop until they achieve their goals.


Yet, as leftist virtue-signaling Evangelical leaders like Southern Baptist President JD Greear lead their churches in marches with Black Lives Matter and other terrorist organizations to show their solidarity with the movement, they believe that this shields them from the destruction coming their way.


They couldn’t be more wrong.


These movements and organizations are designed to ultimately forbid Christians from following their own faith. They must choose a side — and many of them are. Black Lives Matter does not have room for Bible-believing Christians — they are pro-LGBTQ, pro-abortion, pro-Communist, and anti-Christian. Their movement is not rooted in any real desire for justice, it’s rooted in a hatred for Western Civilization. And that includes your church.

“For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols?”






The answer to the rhetorical question in 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 is: none.


But these feckless fools believe they’re safe. They’re not safe. Once the mob is done with businesses, they’re coming for your churches. They’re coming for your homes and your families. They’re coming for you — all of you. All of us. And nobody is doing anything to stop it. The endgame is complete and total destruction of the current system and complete subjugation of conservatives and Christians. Christianity is the last thing that has stood in the way of Communist regime change and thanks to leaders like JD Greear, Russell Moore, Tim Keller, Al Mohler, and many others in the Evangelical Industrial Complex, that, too, is changing.

A restraining order requested by Los Angeles County against the church led by John MacArthur, who is also the chancellor emeritus for The Master’s University and Seminary, has been denied by the judge.


For a number of weeks, MacArthur’s church in Sun Valley, Grace Community Church, has been holding in-person services without social distancing.


The objective of the restraining order, county officials said in a news release distributed last week, is to prohibit the church from holding indoor services. If the court issues the order, any future indoor services could be grounds for a contempt citation and fines of up to $20,000.


However, L.A. County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled Monday in opposition to the county’s position, denying the restraining order for a fourth time.


“It is deeply disappointing that the court decided not to grant the county’s request for a temporary restraining order prohibiting Grace Community Church from holding indoor services, as it has done several times in recent weeks,” county officials said in their statement distributed after the Monday ruling. “We look forward to a favorable ruling when a full hearing is heard on the matter on Sept. 4.”


County officials said that the church’s meetings violate the county’s health officer order, and that the order has been put in place to “curb the transmission of COVID-19 in order to prevent serious illness and death among our residents.”


“The court correctly concluded that Los Angeles County’s renewed application for a temporary restraining order was both procedurally and substantively defective,” Paul Jonna, the church’s lawyer in the case, said Tuesday in a prepared statement. “This was their fourth unsuccessful attempt to obtain a court order prohibiting indoor worship services at Grace Community Church. We look forward to fully vindicating our clients’ constitutionally protected rights in subsequent proceedings for this important case.”


Beckleoff stated in his ruling the county’s case failed to meet statutory requirements.


The Master’s University


Despite Grace Community deciding to go against the health order, The Master’s University, of which MacArthur was a longtime president of the college, is following the guidelines set forth by the Public Health Department, they say.


“We’re bringing back to campus only students that are taking part in training for the essential workforce and need in-person instruction,” said Corey Williams, chief communications officer for TMU. “A good majority of classes are happening remotely. L.A. County said students with no feasible living options can be in our dorms.”


Events at the university have been canceled until further notice with the exception of protests and faith-based services, social distancing within those few classes that are meeting will be enforced and the university is having deep sanitation occur throughout the campus.


“Deep cleaning and masks are required,” said Williams. “We will also have grab-and-go food options and limit the number of people that can pick up food at a time. We’re a pretty small operation, compared to the vast majority of higher education institutions, so we don’t have to worry.”


The university released a plan earlier in the summer, but following changes to the health order, modified its return guidelines for staff and students. The plan had been developed by the university’s COVID-19 task force set up in March that included an epidemiologist, doctor and on-campus medical staff. They spent the summer putting together all possible reopening plans and they met every week, Williams said.

Portland police came under the assault by rioters using rocks, lasers, bottles, eggs, and the usual battery of ballistics.


Rioters were told to disperse as they attempted to get at the Kelly Building, which houses government offices and is a frequent target.

Officers stayed back a significant distance in the parking lot in an attempt to deescalate the situation.


Someone rolled a mock guillotine with a stuffed bear into the street (photo). The bear and multiple U.S. flags were burned. Paint balloons were launched at officers, as well as green lasers.


Officers initiated another push, attempting to convince the group to leave. This time, they went south on Southeast 47th Avenue to Southeast Stark Street. Officers disengaged again. Protesters lit traffic barricades, mattresses, a door, and other debris on fire in the intersection (photo courtesy @infopig).


Emergency calls were once again ignored while the children were throwing their nightly violent tantrum in Portland.


Between 45 and 50 officers had to be pulled from precincts to assist in the protest response. For most of the duration of this event, there were between 120 and 140 calls holding in the City of Portland. Calls included shots fired, assaults, alarms, threats, and suspicious circumstances.


Crowd control munitions were used during this event, however no CS gas was deployed.

Gang Fires Shots at Trump Supporters During Rally in Charlotte






A gang of three men fired shots from their vehicle at a group of Trump supporters during a political rally in Charlotte.


The incident occurred on Monday evening in the area of I-77 and Sutton Road during a women’s organization event at which children were also present.


The group, which was holding Trump signs and American flags, said the three men “drove by more than once, making derogatory remarks and yelling obscenities at them from their vehicle.”


“The victims said as the vehicle turned from Sutton Rd on to the ramp to northbound I-77, the driver of the vehicle kept yelling, then put his arm out the window while holding what appeared to be a handgun,” reports WBTV.


“All of a sudden you know bang bang bang bang bang bang bang,” said Matthew Ostrowski, one of the Trump supporters who was on the bridge.


A police officer was able to follow the vehicle onto the highway before finding it abandoned.


“The trooper then saw a second vehicle leaving the area and noticed one of the people inside had clothing matching that of one of the people in the first vehicle. That vehicle was then stopped by officers nearby,” according to the report.


Two of the males were released without charges but the driver, 23-year-old Marquise Damarius Asomani, was taken into custody and is being charged with six counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and one count each of unlawful carrying of a pistol, pointing and presenting firearms at a person and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.


“It was ridiculous. There were kids everywhere,” says Ostrowski. “They drove by really slow and saw everybody, so they knew exactly who was there.”


Lindsey Portugal, one of the rally organizers, said, “I think it’s sad honestly that we’re showing support for the president and you have to be nervous about somebody coming and doing this.”

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Jerry Falwell, Jr., the president of what hails itself as the world’s largest Christian university, officially resigned Monday evening after reports went public that his wife had an affair for a number of years with a young business partner. He had already been on indefinite leave over a controversial vacation photo in which he posed with his pants unzipped.


“After agreeing yesterday to immediately resign then reversing course, Falwell, through an attorney, sent the resignation letter late last night to members of the Board’s Executive Committee pursuant to the terms of his contract of employment,” Liberty University said in a statement on Tuesday.


“The Executive Committee met this morning and voted to accept all the resignations immediately and recommend ratification to the full Board. Later this morning, the full Board gathered via conference call and unanimously voted to affirm the decision of the Executive Committee,” it explained.


Officials outlined that the board, “composed of a mix of alumni, pastors and business executives, active and retired, used most of its meeting to focus forward on the university’s future and steps that could be taken to ensure it remained true to its mission.” A search committee for a replacement for Falwell will be formed at an upcoming meeting.

Falwell, while acknowledging that his wife Becki had committed adultery, said that the man, now 29-year-old Giancarlo Granda, tried to extort the couple and became threatening. He asserted that he had no part in the affair, while Granda claims that Falwell sat in the room or watched from a camera while sexual encounters happened over the course of seven years.


Granda released a recorded phone call in which Becki Falwell expressed that she struggled with the idea of him dating other girls, even to the point of tears, and Jerry Falwell Jr. remarked, “You’re going to make her jealous, Gian.”


The Falwells had been in a business relationship with Granda surrounding a hostel that he owned in Miami, Florida.


“Becki had an inappropriate personal relationship with this person, something in which I was not involved,” Falwell said Sunday night in a statement to the Washington Examiner after Reuters first reported on the matter. “It was nonetheless very upsetting to learn about.”


He stated that he lost 80 pounds in becoming so disturbed about the matter, spending time “reflecting and praying about whether there were ways I could have been more supportive of her and given her proper attention.”


“I came to realize that while it may be easy to judge others on their behavior, the King James Bible reminds us, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery, but I sayeth unto you, that whoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her in his heart,'” Falwell wrote. “In fact, there are ways we may all be sinning, but the Lord believes in this self-reflection.”


He said that he consequently forgave his wife, and the couple sought to put distance between themselves and Granda, but he became “aggressive.”


“Eventually, he began threatening to publicly reveal this secret relationship with Becki and to deliberately embarrass my wife, family, and Liberty University unless we agreed to pay him substantial monies,” Falwell said. “We were doing our best to respectfully unravel this ‘fatal attraction’ type situation to protect our family and the university.”


Granda denies that he had engaged in extortion, telling reporters, “Any allegation of extortion is falsely, defamatory and belied by clear documentary evidence.”


As previously reported, Falwell had already been placed on indefinite leave by the Liberty University Board of Trustees after he posted — and then deleted — a vacation photo to Instagram where he mimicked his wife’s pregnant assistant, but was photographed knowing that his pants were unzipped.

(Business Insider) — Liberty University announced late Monday evening that Jerry Falwell Jr. “withdrew” his resignation, hours after he agreed to step down as president following a series of controversies he was embroiled in.


Falwell walked back his resignation after multiple news outlets confirmed the news earlier on Monday. The college’s full board of directors plans to meet on Tuesday.


The tussle between Falwell and the college comes a day after Reuters reported that he and his wife, Becki, were involved in a years-long sexual relationship with former business partner, Giancarlo Granda. Falwell denied the charges, which were made by Granda, and claimed he later learned about his wife’s extra-marital affair.


Falwell had been placed on leave two weeks ago, and “additional matters came to light that made it clear that it would not be in the best interest of the university for him to return from leave and serve as president,” a university statement outlined on Monday. Read the statement in full here.


“I was never called to be a pastor. My calling was to use my legal and business expertise to make Liberty University the evangelical version of Note Dame,” Falwell told ABC News. “Some of us are called to be preachers, that wasn’t mine. SANTA CLARA, Calif. — A Baptist church in California has been fined $10,000 for holding a morning and evening service indoors and for also including singing during those gatherings. The church has been warned that continued violations of the Santa Clara County health order will result in additional $5,000 per occurrence fines.


“North Valley Baptist is failing to prevent those attending, performing and speaking at North Valley Baptist’s services from singing,” the letter from officials read in part.


“The County understands that singing in an intimate and meaningful component of religious worship. However, public health experts have also determined that singing together in close proximity and without face coverings transmits [corona]virus particles further in the air than breathing or speaking quietly.”


Jack Trieber of North Valley Baptist Church released a video statement on Monday explaining that the church had previously complied with directives prohibiting indoor gatherings as the novel coronavirus seemed to be a serious threat.


“I didn’t want to be responsible for seeing people die,” he outlined. “Because it was going to be a hotspot, we obeyed to the letter.”


Trieber said that actual fatalities, however, were nowhere near what they were projected to be in a county of more than one million people, as 225 people died with nearly 100 of those deaths being in nursing homes. Therefore, the church decided to begin holding meetings in the auditorium again but with social distancing and other preventative measures in place.


In response, County officials taped a multiple-page “cease and desist” order to the door, outlining that Trieber was in willful violation of the prohibition on indoor gatherings, as well as singing. It also asserted that there was no social distancing protocol in place.


The church was leveled with two $5K fines for holding the indoor morning and evening services, with no grace period, and a $250 fine for a lack of a social distancing protocol was also proposed with a 48-hour grace period.


“$5,000 fine for holding an unlawful indoor gathering at 10:30 a.m. on August 23, 2020, not requiring congregants or church service attendees to wear face coverings while attending, performing or speaking at indoor worship services and permitting congregants or church service attendees to sing,” the letter read in part. “Be advised that further such violations will result in additional $5,000 fines per occurrence without a grace period.”


Trieber believes, however, that it is not the government’s jurisdiction to make laws against the Church.


“This is America,” he said in the video. “To think that a person can say, ‘You cannot sing in church. You cannot preach without a mask on …'”


The pastor explained that officials have stated that the church can meet outside with a maximum of 60 people, but he did not know how he would accommodate the thousands attending his church if he can only have 60 meet at a time.


“I’m not trying to be harsh. I’m not trying to be a smart aleck. I’m not trying to be cruel. I want to obey authority, but authority overstepped,” Trieber stated, noting that suicides, violence, drug use and alcoholism are on the increase due to the lockdown and that spiritual guidance is needed.


He has consequently pleaded with officials to be merciful and to rescind their order against houses of worship.


“I plead with you: Back off. Open up the spiritual environment of this county immediately,” Trieber said. “I saw my grandkids here yesterday and they were so worried that Papa was going to be arrested. It’s torment to our children in this church. I beg you: Please stop.”

Gov. Tom Wolf on Tuesday proposed legalizing marijuana for recreational use by Pennsylvania adults, arguing that legislative leaders should take a serious look at the issue this fall given the serious hit the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on state revenues and the need to complete the state’s 2020-21 budget.


“This might be one way to plug a hole,” Wolf said.


And the leaders of the Republican-controlled legislature said, in essence: “Next issue?”


There may come a day when an issue that, over time - like gay marriage or gun control measures - has begun to find significant support in public opinion surveys finds a match for that support in the state Capitol. But, in the view of senior GOP legislative leaders and staffers, that day is not yet at hand.


“The speaker’s priorities are responsibly finishing the (2020-21 state) budget, doing what we need to do to continue the education of our children and reopening the economy so that our people can get back to work safely,” said Jake Smeltz, chief of staff to Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster County.


“One priority he does not have is to make sure that people can get high legally.”


Others even expressed indignation that Wolf would put marijuana legalization on the table right now, accusing him of political grandstanding as the campaign season starts to take center stage.


“It appears as if the governor is starting the fall campaign now after it’s become clear that legislative Democrats are feeling the pressure of his decisions to implement some of the most restrictive economic shutdown measures in the country and create an autocracy,” Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, R-Centre County, said in a statement.


“The governor is clearly not interested in governing. If he were, he would have reached out to legislative leaders at some point during the summer to discuss a fall agenda. Instead, he sends out a political document and takes partisan shots at elected officials.”


Corman has long been an outspoken opponent of expanding the state’s current medical marijuana program to include recreational use for those 21 and older, and Senate GOP sources noted there is not a vocal champion for the issue now in the majority caucus in the way that former Sen. Mike Folmer, R-Lebanon, led the charge for medical marijuana several years ago.


For marijuana advocates, however, Wolf’s call did open up new possibilities for the political future.


Nationally, 11 states and Washington, D.C. have legalized marijuana for adult use to date, though the federal government still considers it to be a Schedule 1 substance on par with heroin and LSD.


Wolf, a Democrat, signalled his personal willingness to support marijuana legalization after the completion of his Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s “listening tour” on the issue last year. But Tuesday was the first time that the governor specifically listed a proposal as part of his legislative agenda.


Public opinion polling in Pennsylvania across has shown support for marijuana legalization growing from under 40 percent in 2014, when Wolf was a first-time candidate for governor, to consistently scoring 56 to 59 percent support over the last three years, while opposition to it has hovered in the mid-30s.


And other elected officials, such as state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, have championed the issue for several years. DePasquale’s office authored a report in 2018 that suggested the state could generate about $580 million annually in tax revenues, assuming a hefty 35 percent tax rate.


If the Democrats win a majority in the either the House or the Senate this fall, the cause might get even more of a boost. Republicans now hold a working 29-21 edge in the Senate, including Sen. John Yudichak, a one-time Democrat-turned-Independent who began caucusing with Senate Republicans last year; and a 109-93 majority in the House.


“Legalizing adult-use cannabis has widespread, but not universal, support among House Democrats,” House Democratic spokesman Bill Patton said Tuesday after Wolf’s announcement. “With the state facing a massive budget shortfall approaching $5 billion our leaders believe this is a revenue-producing option that ought to be considered now. And if not now, then early in 2021 when there is a House Democratic majority.”


But with Corman and Cutler personally opposed and largely reluctant to bring bills up for votes that don’t have majority support within their respective caucuses, and marijuana supporters facing inevitable clashes over what the proposed retail market would look like, fairness to the medical marijuana vendors who have already paid for their licenses, and where to set the tax rate, Wolf’s fresh push is unlikely to meet with near-term success even at a time when the state is running major revenue deficits.


“That’s a major policy change whether you’re for it or against it,” House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, R-Centre County, told PennLive in a telephone interview Tuesday, “and it shouldn’t be driven just on a need for money.”


Wolf offered his broad marijuana pitch - Press Secretary Lyndsay Kensinger said specifics should be released within the next few weeks - as part of a fall legislative agenda that otherwise focuses on helping businesses and residents recover from the pandemic-induced recession and tweaking state election laws to clean-up first-time issues with the state’s optional mail-in voting program.


“We need to provide relief for families. We need to provide relief for small businesses,” Wolf said in a morning appearance at a day care outside Middletown. “House and Senate Democrats have been fighting for these things for years, and certainly since the beginning of the pandemic. But they’ve been stopped at every turn by the Republicans who have been focused on ignoring the public health crisis or actually trashing me.


“That has to stop, We’ve got to get back to doing things that actually matter to people.”


Drawing largely from $1 billion in unspent federal funds allocated to Pennsylvania in the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, Wolf proposed allocating:




    

  • $327 million to increase accessibility to child care for families with new-found needs because their children are not going to school day-in, day-out for in-person classes, or to set up new wrap-around programs like community classrooms where students without Internet access at home could receive safe, supervised out-of-school supports.
    • 

  • $325 million in grants and forgivable loans to small businesses that faced revenue losses because of the pandemic, with $100 million of that carved out specifically for restaurants, bars and other leisure and personal service business that were among the first to be forced to close and, in many cases, still haven’t been able to fully reopen.
    • 

  • $225 million for an expanded and extended “hazard pay” program, pushing bonuses to many more health care, food supply and other workers who have worked through the pandemic, keeping essential goods and services available. The state launched a $50 million, 10-week hazard pay bonus reaching about 40,000 workers earlier this summer.
    • 

  • $100 million to help support persons facing the threat of public utility shut-offs after service termination moratoriums are lifted later this year.
    • 

  • $100 million to households that have fallen behind on monthly rental payments.
    • 



Wolf also voiced support Tuesday for government reform efforts including a ban on gifts to all state legislative and executive branch workers, and comprehensive campaign finance reform.


All the legislative caucuses have in the past signaled their interest in working with the governor to ease the pain that the pandemic-related shutdowns inflicted on the state’s economy. Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate stood at 13.7 percent in July, the fifth-highest state jobless rate in the nation, and pandemic response is what the state’s remaining CARES Act funds are supposed to be used for.


Benninghoff said GOP lawmakers have always been interested in re-igniting the state’s economy from the effects of a shutdown that many of his members feel was broader and longer than it had to be, and he said they have a lot of ideas to put on the table, too. “That laundry list of the governor’s is not the only things that are needed in the state,” Benninghoff said.


Wolf said any revenues raised from marijuana legalization would be used both to top off the available CARES Act funding to support his relief package in the short term, and longer-term to support “restorative justice” programs aimed at helping to repair damage that advocates say the generations of marijuana prosecutions have down to those arrested and the neighborhood where those arrests have been concentrated.


On Tuesday, however, legislative leaders made clear that’s one priority that’s not shared.


Under the current schedule, the House is expected to return to voting session on Sept. 1, to begin 12 days of scheduled session time through the fall. The Senate is set to return Sept. 8. It also has 12 voting days scheduled.

“Fifty percent of the funding would be earmarked for historically disadvantaged businesses.
