Biden Regime’s Department of Education Sues Columbia University

After anti-Israel mobs rioted at Columbia University, broke into an academic building, and menaced Jewish students, it’s not surprising that the Department of Education has opened a civil rights investigation of the university. Clearly, the rights of many Jewish and pro-Israel students have been trampled, and so it’s reassuring to see education bureaucrats acting to restore some sanity and decency at Columbia.

The only problem is that they’re not doing that. Instead, the Biden regime’s Department of Education is only making things worse. Its civil rights investigation is not about the mistreatment of Jewish students, but of Palestinian students.

Yes, we have really entered bizarro world, and everything is upside down. USA Today reported Friday that “the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights on Thursday opened an investigation into Columbia University for how it’s treated Palestinian students and allies, lawyers said.” The Biden apparatchiks have filed a complaint that “alleges unequal treatment by Columbia administrators, including President Minouche Shafik.”

Remember, this is the same Minouche Shafik, about whom the Washington Post reported Friday that “several Republican lawmakers have accused her of not taking rapid action against protesters and not doing enough to make Jewish students feel safe on campus.” Yet as far as the Biden regime’s Department of Education is concerned, it isn’t the Jewish students who feel unsafe. USA Today continues: “Four students and the student organization, Students for Justice in Palestine, told federal officials they experienced harassment, death threats and doxing on campus since the start of the war, according to the complaint filed by Palestine Legal, a legal aid organization.”

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth, this is what has really been happening at Columbia University. At the end of April, pro-Hamas thugs assaulted a Jewish student. This took place as pro-Hamas protestors, many from outside the university, shattered the glass of the university’s main building and occupied it.

All that happened months after Columbia administrators met with a student, Khymani James, and heard him speak openly about murdering Jews. Not only did they opt not to expel him and allow him to remain on campus, but they watched as he became the leader of the encampment protests. Then he issued a video in which he said: “Be glad — be grateful — that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists." I’ve never murdered anyone in my life, and I hope to keep it that way.”

Back in the Education Department’s bizarro world, however, Radhika Sainath of Palestine Legal claimed that “for months, Columbia has not only failed to take action to protect Palestinian students and their allies speaking out for Palestinian freedom from racist harassment and discrimination, but actively engaged in differential treatment. This investigation could not have come at a better time, as we just saw Columbia escalate its crackdown against Palestinian students and their allies by bringing in the NYPD to brutally arrest student protesters for the second time in less than two weeks.”

This civil rights complaint couldn’t possibly be more absurd. In pursuing it, the Biden regime once again demonstrates its true colors and deep hatred of Israel. Are Jewish students breaking into and trashing university buildings? Are Jewish students assaulting Palestinian Arab students?

There is abundant justification for a civil rights investigation of how Jewish students are being treated at Columbia, but the Students for Justice in Palestine and Palestine Legal know how to play the game: they know that victimhood is a coveted status in our sick society, and that consequently, being the first or loudest to claim that status is a quick pathway to preferential treatment and even pecuniary reward.

It’s also useful to recall that Students for Justice in Palestine is the brainchild of a professor of “Islamophobia” named Hatem Bazian, who has openly called for an intifada, a violent uprising, not in Israel only, but in the United States as well. And regarding supporters of Israel, he has declared, “We need to harass them.”

Yet it is his group, not the people that members of his group frequently harass on campuses, that is the object of the Department of Education’s efforts. This entirely ridiculous charade is a prime example of how our academic institutions have lost their way, deserve no public funding, and are in severe, cryptic need of reform.

What has happened of late at Columbia illustrates that anew. But also in radical need of reform is the Washington bureaucracy. Instead of acting against the pro-Hamas thuggery at Columbia and other campuses, the Biden regime is aiding and abetting it.

Iran Calls on Islamic Nations to Sever Ties With Israel

Grand plans to unify and magnify the Muslim Ummah.

Virtually all of the states in the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (56 nations and “Palestine,” which is not a state) support the interests, causes and ambitions of their Palestinian “brothers,” with no acknowledgement of Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023. This was crystal clear at the recent OIC summit in Gambia. “Gaza tops agenda at Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit,” Africa News, May 5, 2024:

The 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation got underway on Saturday in the Gambian capital, Banjul, with the conflict in Gaza at the top of the agenda….

The OIC condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza and reaffirmed the organisation’s support for, and commitment to the people of Palestine.

The rogue nation of Iran, the main funder of Hamas, which is embraced by the OIC, was present. Less than two weeks prior to October 7, the Secretary General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, emphasized the need for unity among Muslim nations, stressing the importance of Iran’s place in “Muslim unity” in dealing with “common threats,” as he referenced “the Zionist regime.” In mid-October, the OIC accused Israel of “crimes against humanity,” with no mention of Hamas atrocities.

Saudi Arabia is a key member of the OIC, and it included Iran in its commitment to host Arab and Islamic summits in order to promote “peace” and discuss Gaza the conflict. With talk frequently circulating in the West about Saudi Arabia normalizing relations with Israel, the Saudis have already laid out their demand for Israel to return to the pre-1967 Auschwitz borders, and blamed Israel as “occupiers” on the very date of Hamas’ savagery, October 7. Until Israel signals that it is willing to return to the pre-1967 borders, which it has not done, normalization with Saudi Arabia is in question, despite the subject being a focal point of the Biden administration, with many following along. It is up to Israel to normalize the negotiated conditions, not to the Biden administration working with Saudi Arabia in Israel’s absence.

Although the Saudis will continue to push for normalization to benefit from its economic growth, so far it has presented its own conditions and interests, not Israel’s. Saudi Arabia is more loyal to the Muslim ummah, and proved it in spades at the Gambia OIC summit, where its Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan reaffirmed “the Kingdom’s call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, safe humanitarian corridors, and the fulfillment of Palestinians’ legitimate rights, including their right to self-determination and an independent state.” Faisal also “expressed regret over the failure of the UN Security Council and the international community to halt Israeli attacks on Palestinians”; and just in case there is still any ambiguity where the Saudis stand, Faisal added: “The Palestinian cause has remained a priority for the OIC since its inception,”  adding:

“It is unfortunate to witness the failure of the Security Council and the international community to halt unprecedented Israeli attacks, which have escalated through indiscriminate shelling, destruction of hospitals, schools, shelters, and infrastructure in Gaza, leaving thousands of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, as victims,”

Iran meanwhile, called on Islamic countries “to sever ties with Israeli regime.” Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian delegitimized the State of Israel in his speech:

Because the Israeli regime is not a legitimate government. It is only occupying apartheid power…Passage of time is not going to lend legitimacy to an occupying power.

There is no doubt that severing diplomatic and economic relations and practical arms and trade embargo is an important tool in stopping Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its crimes in the West Bank and Al-Quds Al-Sharif. We sincerely appreciate the Muslim and freedom-loving governments and countries that took action in this direction…

Abdollahian’s words echoed Article 19 of the Palestinian National Charter:

The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because they were contrary to the will of the Palestinian people and to their natural right in their homeland, and inconsistent with the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations; particularly the right to self-determination.

The Palestinian “resistance” against Israel “from the River to the Sea” means the obliteration of Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. The Palestinian cause remains central to the OIC. In remarks at the summit, Gambia’s President Adama Barrow blamed Palestinian oppression and “endless human suffering” on Israel from the day of Israel’s founding. The OIC stood unified in condemning “Israel’s attacks on Gaza and reaffirmed the organisation’s support for, and commitment to, the people of Palestine.”

But where was the condemnation of Hamas?

In the next stage of the 15th OIC session, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar “expressed his deep concern over Israel’s ‘brutal military onslaught.’” He also urged OIC member states “to formulate a joint strategy to fight Islamophobia at the global level, work together to bring in an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and implement its ‘Action Plan’ on Jammu and Kashmir.” Pakistan, known for its cruel blasphemy laws, zeroed in on the rise of “Islamophobia,” while ignoring, of course, the antisemitism has risen to alarming proportions since October 7.

The goals of obliterating Israel, the conquest of India, and pushing Islamic blasphemy laws globally — using the “Islamophobia” subterfuge — have been primary concerns of Islamic supremacists everywhere.

In keeping with the principle of striking the iron while it’s hot, expect an increase in collective antagonism to emerge from the OIC summit, not only toward Israel, but against Western interests, particularly in the face of a weak leader such as Joe Biden. Days ago, Biden was ripped for bringing up “Islamophobia” amid the worst outbreak of antisemitism in decades. His alignment with OIC interests is certain to be noted globally.

Biden Risks American Lives to Protect Hamas

No American should die to protect Hamas supporters in Gaza.

[Order Daniel Greenfield’s new book, Domestic Enemies: HERE.]

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin recently admitted at a congressional hearing that American soldiers operating Biden’s disastrous “aid pier” for Gaza could come under attack from Islamic terrorists.

Biden has not sent a single soldier to recover American hostages being held by Hamas, but there are now soldiers in the line of fire in order to send aid to Gaza.

In the event American forces on the pier come under attack, they would be allowed to fight back, Austin promised. But based on the rules of engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan, all the terrorists have to do is attack from a mosque or from behind civilians, and American soldiers would be banned from fighting back.

And those are the ways that Hamas tends to attack.

Late last month, Islamic terrorists fired mortar shells at the pier, forcing a UN team to flee for cover and damaging some of our equipment. After the attack, it was announced that the Israeli military would be tasked with providing security for the pier since Biden’s efforts to recruit Muslim allies to protect it had failed.

After the mortar attack, the terror pier was moved to the Israeli port of Ashdod, allegedly because of the bad weather, but also because of the terrorist attacks. It’s still sitting in Ashdod, despite having been completed because it’s too fragile to move in stormy weather. What’s going to happen if there’s bad weather once the pier is in place? If this one breaks, we’ll probably have to build another one.

But after having wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on the terror pier, Biden is waiting on the Israelis to secure it. Even with the Israelis physically attaching the pier, so that Biden can claim that there are American “no boots on the ground”, American personnel will still be within firing range of Islamic terrorists in Gaza.

This would not be a threat if Biden stopped interfering with Israel’s war on terrorists. But the pier is part of the Biden administration’s campaign to undermine Israel’s war effort. And that’s putting American lives at risk.

Beyond the terror pier, there are now reports that, after Israel finally took control of the border crossing between Egypt and Gaza (despite years of lies about an ‘open-air concentration camp’, Egypt, an Arab Muslim country, has its own border crossing with the Islamic terror state), Biden wants America to step in.

Unwilling to have Israel control the Rafah crossing into Egypt, where the majority of Hamas’ terror forces are based, negotiations are reportedly underway to bring in a “private American security company” that “has operated in several African and Middle Eastern countries, guarding strategic sites like oil fields, airports, army bases and sensitive border crossings” which “employs veterans of elite U.S. Army units.” This is likely to be Blackwater (which has been renamed several times) or some company like it with similar capabilities.

The ex-military personnel won’t count as “boots on the ground” but having private security contractors performing military tasks and then getting killed is no better than American military forces dying in combat with terrorists. The use of contractors during the War on Terror helped hide casualty rates, but didn’t lessen the fact that Americans were still being killed. As we saw in Benghazi.

Above all else, there is no reason for American forces, no matter how they’re classified to be tasked with securing the so-called aid crossings, whether it’s Biden’s terror pier or the Rafah crossing, when the Israelis should be in charge.

And the Israelis want to be in charge.

The only reason Americans are being put in harm’s way is because Biden doesn’t want the Israelis in control. After trying to solicit anyone else to step in, Americans are being put at risk to protect Islamic terrorists from Israel.

Opponents of the Jewish State have often accused Israel of putting Americans at risk, but it’s those opponents, especially in the Biden administration, whose obsession with protecting Muslim terrorists from Israel is really endangering us.

What is America’s national interest in protecting Iran’s terror proxies in Gaza?

Set aside any sentimental attachments to the Jewish State or any religious and cultural sympathies, and there’s still no conceivable reason to prop up another of the terrorist ‘dragon’s teeth’ that Iran has sown in Yemen, Lebanon and Israel.

The lineage of the 'Palestinian' cause can be traced back to the Soviet Union’s Marxist terrorist operations, Nazi Germany’s influence operation with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and, more recently, the Islamic revolution in Iran. What all of those had in common was that they were efforts to subvert Western presence in the Middle East by recruiting and funding Muslim terror groups.

America tried to stay out of it until Jimmy Carter decided to make common cause with Islamic terrorists. This disastrous policy led to the Islamic takeover of Iran and then Afghanistan, and to the deaths of thousands of Americans. Carter also embraced the ‘Palestinian’ cause and Clinton committed us to spending endless billions trying to create an Islamic terror state in Israel.

Until Trump, no president had the courage to try and disentangle us from the Palestinians. And until Biden, no president was this close to committing American troops to protecting a population that universally wants to kill us.

Israel wants to end the terror threat from Gaza and the West Bank. Biden should let it. Life was a whole lot better for everyone before Clinton’s experiment in ‘nation building’ led to endless waves of terror in pursuit of a Palestinian state.

If Biden really cared about the lives of Arab Muslims living in Gaza, he would let Israel quickly finish the job of putting down the terrorists. Like the rules of engagement imposed on American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, the only thing that the restrictions imposed on the Israeli military have done is get good men killed while dragging out a war that could have been ended long ago.

Too many American civilians were already killed in Islamic terror attacks in Israel. If Israel is willing to drain the terror swamps in the West Bank and Gaza, let it.

No American should die to protect Hamas or its supporters in Gaza.

The idea that we were going to neutralize ‘trouble spots’ through nation building has been tested and failed badly. While Biden washed his hands in Afghanistan, he still insists on keeping the mirage of a .Palestinian state going even though it predated our involvement in Afghanistan by a decade and failed even worse.

It’s time to end the worst and longest nation building experiment to date.

The obsession with creating a ‘Palestinian state’ has cost billions of dollars and the lives of American civilians. Now Biden is risking the death of American soldiers, in or out of uniform, to keep the nation-building dream alive.

Biden withdrew from Afghanistan, but now he wants to get us into Gaza.

Our Battle Against Jew Hatred Comes Full Circle

Who would have ever expected that the first terror base in our nation would be on an American campus?

We did. We warned you about it.

Recently, Robert Spencer, the Director of Jihad Watch and a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, was invited to speak at UCLA.

UCLA blocked him from speaking because of the Hamas riots. But Robert wouldn’t give up and neither would we. The story that made national news and his speech, telling the truth about Islamic terrorism at ground zero for terror supporters, is back on.

After the Hamas riots, the Freedom Center went back to UCLA and put up posters telling the truth about the pro-terror hate groups. The last time we did that, UCLA’s DEI boss threatened us with legal action. But we’re not going to be intimidated and we will never back down.

That’s part of our work of over three decades, where David Horowitz, Spencer and the investigative journalists and writers at the Freedom Center have been warning that

Students for Justice in Palestine, a project of the parent organization of Hamas, has been running a Hitler Youth campaign on American campuses to convince a generation of students of the lie that Israel is a colonialist oppressor and the Palestinians are its blameless victims.

The SJP is currently playing a leading role in Hamas campus encampments and riots.

The UCLA Hamas riots are in the news now. When we exposed Hamas supporters on campus, UCLA’s vice chancellor for DEI threatened to sue us for calling SJP “murderers and terrorists.”

Now the entire nation can see what we saw then.

The Freedom Center was among the first to take the war against Jewish hatred to the campuses with speeches, ads, and our “Wall of Truth” campaign to refute SJP’s antisemitic lies.  And we were never afraid to call them “Jew Haters,” “Nazis,” and “supporters of terror” or to state openly that Hamas was funding SJP.

We named UCLA, Columbia, Georgetown, SFSU, NYU and many others, along with the professors responsible for the culture of Jewish hatred on American campuses that are now in the news on a daily basis. We called out these institutions and urged them to confront the Jewish hatred rapidly spreading on their campuses, and we were accused of being “Islamophobes.”

When Hamas supporters came to campus, we were there to challenge them.

Unlike a lot of establishment groups, we did not play defense. We went on the offensive with our Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, posters and newspapers distributed directly on campuses, ad space secured in campus newspapers, and speeches given under the threat of violence.

Despite being outnumbered and outshouted, we never backed down. The same universities, now hosting anti-Semitic “encampments” refused to run our ads or print our editorials in their campus newspapers because they disputed our conclusion—now proven beyond a shadow of a doubt—that SJP is affiliated with Hamas. They call us liars, but we have been proven right.

In 2016, the Freedom Center papered the campus of San Diego State University with posters identifying prominent students and faculty affiliated with SJP and the BDS movement as having “allied themselves with Palestinian terrorists.”

We took out an ad in the campus newspaper stating: “There is an epidemic of Jewish hatred on American campuses and at San Diego State University." This Jewish hatred is incited by Students for Justice in Palestine, the Muslim Students Association and assorted leftist groups, all of whom support the terrorist organizations Hamas and Fatah.”

In response, hundreds of students participated in a mass protest, swarming then-university president Elliot Hirshman and demanding an apology for his failure to adequately condemn our posters. The demonstrators were incensed that they would dare insinuate that their social justice movement was affiliated with terrorists. It doesn’t seem quite so crazy anymore.

When David Horowitz spoke about SJP’s push for a second Holocaust at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus, he was greeted with anti-Semitic posters depicting him with an exaggerated nose, standing in a garbage can, and wearing a Nazi-style armband. The posters labeled him a “right-wing hatemonger, Israeli apologist and Judeofascist.” These images were plastered all over campus walls, including in the Student Union where SJP was provided with plush offices by UW administrators.

The same university forces who for decades turned a blind eye to the terrorist and neo-Nazi tactics of SJP are responsible for allowing radicals to take over their campuses, turning them into hostile enclaves where Jews and Zionists are prohibited.

This madness could all have been avoided if they had heeded our warnings.

We were the first to warn of the threat posed by The Unholy Alliance of Radical Islam and the American Left – the title of a book David wrote 24 years ago. If we had been joined by other conservatives in our campaigns to isolate the campus Jewish haters and refute the lies of the campus neo-Nazis, the campuses might have looked a lot different this month.

We warned about the escalating persecution of Jewish faculty and students., the complicity of jihadist professors at Columbia and Berkeley. We connected the dots and no one else would. And we did it all with little-to-no support and ridicule from the establishment because we were never afraid to call the enemy by its true name.

And we still aren’t.

That’s why we’re not letting up.

The Freedom Center has never relented in our struggle against the scourge of Jew Hatred and the neo-Nazi menace on campuses across our nation.

Our websites, FrontPageMag.com, FreedomCenteronCampus.org, DiscovertheNetworks.org and our deep writing team that includes David Horowitz, Robert Spencer, Daniel Greenfield, Jamie Glazov, Sara Dogan, Hugh Fitzgerald and many more have dedicated their lives to furthering education and exposure to this cancer spreading through Academia.

Our daily writing, campus campaigns, events and programs will continue to sound the alarm and we will continue to speak the truth, even if it makes others uncomfortable.  That is what we do. That is our mission.

Shocking Vote Reveals True Allegiances In House As Johnson Clings To Power

In a stunning display of bipartisan unity, the House swiftly rejected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's bid to remove Speaker Mike Johnson from his position. The chamber resoundingly voted to table Greene's measure by a 359-43 tally, with both Democrats and Republicans coming together to support Johnson's leadership. The vote came just hours after Greene announced her intention to move forward with the motion, which was met with a wave of boos from her colleagues. Despite Greene's efforts to garner support from fellow Republicans like Reps. Thomas Massie and Paul Gosar, her campaign against Johnson ultimately failed. The speaker even received a boost from former President Donald Trump, who stood with him at Mar-a-Lago and praised his performance. Greene had been threatening to use the motion to vacate against Johnson since late March, citing issues such as the passage of a $1.2 trillion spending package. However, her recent meeting with Johnson, during which she made a series of "suggestions" including defunding special counsel Jack Smith's inquiry into Trump and halting financial aid to Ukraine, failed to sway the House. Recent polling from Monmouth University revealed that only one in five Americans wanted Johnson replaced as speaker, further underscoring the lack of support for Greene's initiative.

What The Pro-Hamas Protests Tell Us About America’s Judeo-Christian Heritage

Is there any ground exempt from the occupation of terrorists in America?

In October 2021, just five days following a National School Boards Association letter to the Biden administration labeling parents’ behavior at school board meetings “equivalent to domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo calling on the FBI to investigate threats to school boards and school staff. Garland wrote, “While the spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution, that protection does not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views.”

Parents who were truly, peacefully protesting were dubbed domestic terrorists, but real terrorists shouting, “Death to America” on government school campuses today are given a pass and called “protestors.”

Does anybody see the absurdity in this? Those calling for “Death to America” are not protestors. They are rioters and terrorists! Much like those employed by Antifa and BLM following the death of George Floyd, most of whom are not even students or residents, but are likely employed by the same nefarious actors.

Riot police in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles fired tear gas and pepper spray, police vehicles were set on fire and shops were looted in several cities during the riots that followed George Floyd’s death. And yet, the media continued to call them “peaceful protestors” and claimed racial victimhood as an excuse for their criminal behavior.

Where is the pepper spray and tear gas for the terrorists chanting to Jewish students “Go back to the gas chamber?”

This comes on the heels of at least two decades of teaching post-secondary students that America is systemically racist and in recent years this falsehood is even taught in K-12 government schools.

Moreover, Garland said in 2021 that constitutional protections do not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views. Are Jewish students on high school and college campuses not being intimidated based on their religious views and what about their race? Is Judaism not a race? Aren’t Hamas rioters racists and bigots? Where are the race police on this issue? But what is worse is these terrorists hate America and want us dead. Americans are the only people that Hamas hates more than Jews. In their hateful worldview, America is the “Big Satan,” and Israel is the “Little Satan.”

Children and young adults in America are taught that white Judeo-Christians are oppressors while Muslim squatters are oppressed. We should not be surprised by the illegal activity of these young adults when this is what children have been taught to think and do. But will we stand for it? It is time for freedom-loving, law-abiding Americans to stand boldly and courageously against the threat to our freedom and our very lives.

Marxist professors of the “Frankfurt School” were run out of Germany by the Nazis during World War II and infiltrated Columbia University. Three generations later, a deadline was issued for Hamas supporters to withdraw from their encampments at Columbia University or be expelled. The terrorists forged ahead and forcibly occupied one of the campus buildings. Obviously, expulsion was not the proper deterrent, and I don’t believe the terrorists care about getting an education. The terrorists committing these crimes as well as the terrorists that indoctrinated them to think this way are to blame for this violence and chaos. These students are adults and should be held responsible for their actions. They should face legal prosecution — not expulsion.

College campuses were the ideal space to begin the recent antisemitic terrorist attacks in America because they are the bastion of “free speech.” Is there any ground exempt from the occupation of terrorists in America? We have already seen the rioters in DC. Will it be your hometown next? Are terrorists being strategically placed across the country coming in from Biden’s open border invitation?

Terrorists on college campuses who refuse to dismantle their illegal encampments need to be arrested and, if illegal, deported. If they have visas, they should be revoked. Americans do not negotiate with terrorists. Send them packing or lock them up.

Essentially, this is a war against America’s Judeo-Christian heritage and ground zero for anti-American propaganda warfare in K-12 government schools. Blatant propaganda is no longer limited to colleges and universities where it should have been extinguished long ago. Children are now taught at young ages Critical Marxist theories with an intentional agenda to divide and conquer our country from within. Children are being brainwashed just as they were in China during the Mao regime and in Germany during the Hitler regime.

Americans need to wake up and take a bold and courageous stand against the takeover of our country happening before our very eyes. We need to insist on swift prosecution of true domestic terrorists with every measure of the law. Most of all, we need to take a serious look inside the horrors being taught in government schools, so we can stop this indoctrination at its roots.

Biden Administration Sends Conflicting Signals on Exports, Seems to Favor Weapons of Mass Destruction

Joe Biden IMG whitehouse-gov
Joe Biden IMG whitehouse-gov

The firehose of Joe Biden’s anti-gun executive actions continued last week, as the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) at the U.S. Commerce Department issued an “interim final rule” clamping down on lawful exports of “non-military” firearms.

The move was supposedly aimed at enhancing international peace and stability and preventing human rights abuses. Yet at the same time, the U.S. State Department was proposing to ease its own regulations on the export of military-grade arms to countries the U.S. considers close allies.

One obvious takeaway from this conflicting state of affairs is that Biden’s control of firearms exports is rife with political gamesmanship and hypocrisy.

The legal regime for exporting firearms from the U.S. involves two major entities. The U.S. Department of State controls exports of guns that are “inherently for military end use.” The U.S. Commerce Department controls exports of guns that do not fit this category, the sorts of firearms that are lawfully kept by hundreds of millions of Americans in their own homes.

As we explained in a prior article, it was Obama/Biden administration that originally began the project of liberalizing export controls over so-called “dual use items,” i.e., those with both military and civilian applications. Exports of items that “provide the United States with a critical military or intelligence advantage, or, in the case of weapons, are inherently for military end use” were left to the State Department and subject to the strictest controls. Exports of other dual-use items were transferred to the Commerce Department, whose export decisions are supposed to more holistically promote American goods against foreign competitors, while insuring sufficient safeguards to protect U.S. exports from diversion or misuse.

Unfortunately, anti-gun politics tainted this effort from the start. Professional bureaucrats drafting the rules for these categorizations came up with the firearms rule first, as revolvers, bolt action rifles, and semi-automatic firearms are the paradigmatic dual use items. But the Obama/Biden administration didn’t want to be seen as liberalizing rules relating to gun sales. So they left the gun rule to languish, even as they liberalized exports of more sophisticated technology, including spacecraft and satellites, explosives and propellants, and toxicological agents. It was the Trump administration finalized firearms export rules, to much orchestrated fury and hysteria by the anti-gun movement.

Now, four years into the Biden administration, the firearm prohibition lobby has finally focused the White House’s attention on using its executive authority to undo the export liberalization effort that began with Obama/Biden.

A new “interim final rule” published by BIS last week makes sweeping changes to the rules governing exports of non-military firearms from the U.S. BIS claims,

“These changes will better protect U.S. national security and foreign policy interests, which include countering the diversion and misuse of firearms and related items and advancing human rights.”

The rule comes after BIS instituted a “pause” on commercial firearms exports to a host of destinations last October. During this “pause,” BIS claimed to gather information that indicated lawfully exported firearms of U.S. origin were being illegally diverted overseas and used to promote crime, human rights abuses, and terrorism. It did not, however, specifically tie this diversion to the transfer of export control from the State Department to BIS. Indeed, the preamble to the rule admits that this diversion also included firearms exported under the old State Department regime. Unsurprisingly, however, BIS’ “review” of the “evidence” determined that it needed to give U.S. firearm prohibitionists another win from the Biden administration, in the form of an administrative clamp-down on exports of non-military firearms to non-governmental end users.

What is particularly interesting about the changes BIS is proposing is how closely they mirror “reforms” gun control activists are seeking to impose on the U.S. The federal government has a relatively freer hand in regulating firearm exports than in regulating commercial sales of firearms to U.S. citizens. This is because constitutional protections are relatively weaker, and executive authority is relatively greater, in the “foreign affairs” context. Thus, the administration’s actions can be seen as a window into the sorts of restrictions it would like to impose domestically, if it believed it could get away with it.

For example, the new rule would create stricter new control categories for semi-automatic firearms, the same sorts of firearms the Biden administration has (so far) unsuccessfully sought to ban as “assault weapons” in the U.S. It would also establish dozens of “high risk” countries that would be subject to a “presumption of denial” for export licenses pertaining to non-governmental end users. This is similar to the ever-expanding list of “sensitive places” that gun control activists are seeking to establish as areas in the U.S. where the Second Amendment does not apply. Moreover, the former “presumption of approval” for licenses to most countries would be rescinded, in favor of a more skeptical case-by-case approach. This echoes the discretionary licensing regime for firearms acquisition and carry that gun control advocates favor here in the U.S. The period of export license validity, formerly four years, would be reduced to one year. Notably, in response to U.S. Supreme Court cases that have limited the discretion officials have to issue firearms licenses in the U.S., anti-gun states have responded by shortening the duration of issued licenses. In general, the rule’s restrictions are also aimed at reducing exports to private end users. Exports to foreign governments are not as adversely affected. This is reminiscent of the mindset of American gun control activists who seek mainly to control private access to guns, while strengthening the advantages that governments have over their citizens.

Indeed, even as the Biden administration was clamping down on the exports of non-military guns to civilians under BIS, it was moving to liberalize the export of machine guns and heavier weapons under the State Department to certain close allies. The NRA takes no position as to whether this liberalization is a good idea or not. We raise the issue merely to underscore the irony and apparent double standards in the administration’s approach to exports that have the potential for diversion and misuse. As we have seen right here in the U.S., governments are not immune from losing track of their own munitions, sometimes with lethal consequences.

The new BIS rule takes effect on May 30, 2024, but BIS will be accepting comments on the proposal until July 1, 2024. The easiest way to comment is through the online Regulations.gov portal. Whether or not the administration is likely to revise its rules in response to public input, well-written comments are important for advocacy efforts and for educating Congress and the public on the real-world consequences of the administration’s politically-motivated attacks on the U.S. firearms industry.

One likely outcome of the new rule is simply to divert arms sales currently emanating from the U.S. to other countries.

This will only hurt the U.S. economy and manufacturing base, while disempowering the U.S. government in overseeing and structuring these exports. America’s biggest competitors in international arms sales include Russia and China. Even by anti-gun standards, allowing unscrupulous foreign adversaries to have a bigger footprint in the international market for guns seems like a heavy price to pay for inflicting even more pain on the U.S. firearms industry.

But like all of Biden’s gun control schemes, politics, not policy, seems to be the point in the administration’s latest clampdown on firearms.

Palestinian Authority officials accuse Jews and Israelis of being ‘worse than Nazis’

Anyone with any understanding of the Palestinian Authority and the history of Palestinian leaders will understand why a two-state solution is a delusion and a ploy. In fact, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation already recognizes “Palestine” as a state, hence it claims 57 member states of the OIC. Any talk of a two-state solution by Muslim countries is a charade. The Palestinian “resistance” is really about a one-state solution, that is, the total destruction of Israel, and this is why Israel is being pushed to retreat to its pre-1967 borders: this is a strategic step toward the complete annihilation of the Jewish state.

Palestinian leaders pay terrorists to murder Israelis, regard these murderers as “martyrs,” and then call the victims of the Holocaust worse than the Nazis who killed them.

Jibril Rajoub, secretary general of Fatah’s Central Committee, has also justified the October 7 massacre “as an act in the context of the defensive war. Our people are waging.’” His comment in the article below that “the Jew is not ‘a victim’ but ‘a criminal, a terrorist, and a new form of fascism and Nazism of the last century,'” isn’t new. Years ago, he stated that Israel is “running its own Auschwitz' in Palestinian cities.” Rajoub is himself a terrorist, criminal, and a man who “played a central role in the torture and brutal murder of American citizen Azzam Rahim in 1995.” Only in a jihadi government could a man such as Rajoub exist as an official.

“When the victim of the Nazis is accused of being worse than Nazis,” by Nan Jacques Zilberdik, Palestinian Media Watch, May 6, 2024:

Top PA official Rajoub: The Jew is not “a victim” but “a criminal, a terrorist, and a distorted form of fascism and Nazism of the last century”

PA daily: Israel’s “barbaric and insane war of annihilation” [in Gaza] “has exceeded all the German Nazi and Italian Fascist crimes”

PA official: Israeli PM Netanyahu is like Goebbels, Nazi propaganda minister

PA TV broadcasts libel twice: “The Israelis are doing to the Palestinians what the Nazis did to them” – Egyptian international relations expert

Libel: Conditions in Israeli prisons “are unprecedented anywhere but [in] the Nazi camps of the 1940s” – PA official

While Israel today commemorates the 6 million victims of the Nazis in the Holocaust, it is at the same time constantly confronted with libel by PA leaders and officials claiming Israel is “acting like the Nazis” and worse. These lies have intensified since Hamas launched the current war against Israel with its attack and massacre in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

The official PA daily stated that Israel’s defense war against Hamas “has exceeded all the German Nazis and Italian Fascist crimes of annihilation”:

“The Zionist-American war (i.e., the 2023 Gaza war; see note below) is targeting the annihilation of the Palestinian people or exiling it from the land of Ribat (i.e., religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic)… and eliminating its national cause in order to spread darkness, wars, terror, and religious conflicts… Will the [Arab] brothers, the free world, and the supporters of peace stop the barbaric and insane war of annihilation that has exceeded all the German Nazi and Italian Fascist crimes of annihilation known to history?”

[Column by regular columnist Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, March 12, 2024]

Two months into the war, top PA official Jibril Rajoub stated that Jews are not “victims” but “criminal[s], terrorist[s], and a distorted form of fascism and Nazism of the last century” and that the West has been “deceived” about this. He added that the war in Gaza is part of “the defense that the Palestinian people have waged and has been waging for 75 years” – in other words, since Israel’s establishment:…

Al-Qaeda joins Hamas in the jihad against Israel

SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2024/05/al-qaeda-joins-hamas-in-the-jihad-against-israel; republished below in full, unedited, for informational, educational, & research purposes:

It turns out that a Gaza based al-Qaeda affiliated group known as Jaysh al-Ummah has joined Hamas in the jihad against Israel. On December 8, Jaysh al-Ummah published a statement saying that its fighters had been clashing with the IDF in the north of the Gaza Strip and in Sheikh Radwan in Gaza City:

It’s unclear how large this al-Qaeda affiliated group is, and whether it has formed a formal alliance with Hamas. It is most likely a small branch that was operating covertly in Gaza for a long time, but has recently decided to conduct operations more overtly, because the IDF’s military operations in Gaza have given al-Qaeda the opportunity to wage jihad against Israel and assure Muslims that al-Qaeda will not neglect its duty to wage jihad against the Jewish state.

Even if there is no actual formal alliance between al-Qaeda and Hamas, al-Qaeda has clearly been assisting Hamas by virtue of attacking IDF troops in Gaza. This benefits Hamas because it forces the IDF to divide its attention into multiple different jihad groups, as well as buying time for Hamas.

This would not be the first time that al-Qaeda has tried to attack Israel, but as of this writing, it appears to be the most recent example of al-Qaeda doing so. This should have gotten more media coverage, because it shows that even though twenty-two years have passed since September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda is not only still active, but is participating in the Israel vs. Hamas war, and is one of the many jihad groups that are assisting Hamas.

Many might think al-Qaeda is a washed-up group that has become a spent force, because al-Qaeda doesn’t get anywhere near as much attention and media coverage as it did 20 years ago. Hamas and Hezbollah have been getting most of the media coverage and focus since October 7, but media coverage of a jihad group is not a reliable indication of its strength and activity.

Al-Qaeda is still around; it never disappeared.

Further adventures of those who claim the moral high ground.

“NYC synagogues, museum receive fake bomb threats, New York officials say,” Jerusalem Post, May 5, 2024:

At least four synagogues and a museum in both Manhattan and Brooklyn received bomb threats on Saturday, but none were deemed credible by the New York Police Department, a city official said.

Of the bomb threats, three were targeted at Congregation Rodeph Sholom on W. 83rd, Congregation Beit Simchat Torah on West 30th Street, and Chabad of Midtown on 5th Av & 43rd.

A police spokesperson said there was also an emailed bomb threat to the Brooklyn Museum and one to a Brooklyn Heights Synagogue on Remsen Street., with no evidence of any explosive device detected.

The email sent to the Brooklyn Museum included threats to blow up the East Parkway/Brooklyn Museum subway station. According to a CBS report, the MTA said an unusual package was reported outside the station, but service was not affected.

Manhattan Borough President Mark D. Levine said on X the bomb threats were “a clear hate crime, and part of a growing trend of ‘swatting’ incidents targeting Jewish institutions.”

“This is a clear effort to sow fear in the Jewish community. Cannot be accepted,” he said.

The New York Post reported the threats prompted the evacuations of at least two Manhattan synagogues….
