APOSTATE Franklin Graham DEMANDS Trump Invite Biden To White House To Help Heal The Nation

Trump also said he is committed to a “smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power.”

Because of this, Graham has asked Trump to “quickly” invite Biden, Harris and their spouses to the White House for a meeting “to begin the healing and preparation for a smooth transition.”

EXCERPTS FROM: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/editorials/article248417510.html:

Last Thursday, one day after the deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol, Franklin Graham had a message for Americans.

"“The division in our country is as great as any time since the Civil War,” he tweeted. “I am calling on Christians to unite our hearts together in prayer for President-elect @JoeBiden and Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris, and for the leadership in both parties.”

It was the kind of statement this country needs to hear, a call for reconciliation that you’d expect from a faith leader. Except just two weeks before, this leader’s arms were folded, not open. “Many people believe the presidential election was stolen from @realDonaldTrump,” Graham tweeted on December 28, “and if conservatives lose control of the Senate, there is nothing to stop the radical agenda of the left.”

Earlier in December, Graham echoed the same election lies that fueled the Capitol invaders. “When he says this election was rigged or stolen,” Graham said of the president, “I tend to believe him.”

Unite our hearts? Save it, Rev. Graham."

Parler Sues Amazon Seeking to Reverse ‘Death Blow’

BY TYLER O'NEIL

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

On Monday, Parler filed a lawsuit against Amazon, accusing the company of breaching its contract and violating a century-old antitrust law by promoting Twitter at its competitor’s expense. Amazon had removed Parler from its servers on Monday morning, claiming the conservative social media platform refused to remove posts advocating violence at the Capitol riots last Wednesday.

Due to Amazon’s removal, “Parler will be offline for a financially devastating period,” the lawsuit claims. It alleges that Amazon applied a double standard, breaking its contract with Parler over a small number of posts while preserving its ties with Twitter, where threats of violence reached into the thousands on Friday.

Amazon acted just as conservatives were flocking from Twitter to Parler, following Twitter’s ban of President Donald Trump’s accounts.

“Given the context of Parler’s looming threat to Twitter and the fact that the Twitter ban might not long muzzle the President if he switched to Parler, potentially bringing tens of millions of followers with him, AWS moved to shut down Parler,” the lawsuit alleges.

Oddly, Amazon leaked the story of Parler’s termination to BuzzFeed more than an hour before it bothered to inform Parler itself. BuzzFeed reported that AWS would remove Parler at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Sunday night, in an article published at 6:07 p.m. Pacific on Saturday. Amazon did not email Parler about the termination until 7:19 p.m. Pacific, “meaning AWS leaked the letter to BuzzFeed before sending it to Parler.”

Parler’s contract with AWS stipulated that AWS must give notice 30 days before the termination of a contract.

AWS’s “death blow … could not come at a worse time for Parler—a time when the company is surging with the potential of even more explosive growth in the next few days.”

Big Tech wants to silence conservatives. Help us fight back by becoming a PJ Media VIP member. Use promo code CENSORSHIP to receive 25% off your VIP membership.

Yet “worse than the timing is the result—Parler has tried to find alternative companies to host it and they have fallen through. It has no other options. Without AWS, Parler is finished as it has no way to get online,” the lawsuit notes.

A delay of “even one day” in the court granting a restraining order and forcing Amazon to resurrect Parler’s account “could also sound Parler’s death knell as President Trump and others move on to other platforms. It is no wonder, then, that competitor Twitter’s CEO has heartily endorsed efforts to remove Parler from the public sphere.”

The lawsuit argued that AWS engaged in a clear double standard by attacking Parler. “By pulling the plug on Parler but leaving Twitter alone despite identical conduct by users on both sites, AWS reveals that its expressed reasons for suspending Parler’s account are but pretext,” it claims.

The lawsuit notes that Amazon claimed to find 98 examples of posts that clearly encourage and incite violence on Parler. “However, the day before, on Friday, one of the top trends on Twitter was ‘Hang Mike Pence,’ with over 14,000 tweets. … And earlier last week, a Los Angeles Times columnist observed that Twitter and other social media platforms are partly culpable for the Capital [sic] Hill riot, by allowing rioters to communicate and rile each other up.”

“Yet these equivalent, if not greater, violations of AWS’s terms of service by Twitter have apparently been ignored by AWS,” the lawsuit notes, bitterly.

Parler brings three claims against Amazon. It accuses AWS of violating the Sherman Anti-Trust Act by “contracting or conspiring to restrain trade or commerce.” It accuses AWS of breach of contract “by not providing thirty days’ notice before terminating its account.” Finally, it accuses Amazon of “tortious interference with a contract or business expectancy.” By terminating Parler’s contract, “AWS will intentionally interfere with the contracts Parler has with millions of its present users, as well as with the users it is projected to gain this week.”

Parler has over 12 million users under contract, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit asks the Washington State district court to issue a temporary restraining order and an order forcing AWS to maintain Parler’s account until further notice from the court. It also seeks treble damages for the egregious attack on Parler’s ability to do business.

The lawsuit appears to be on firm footing, and it seeks an order as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more news on this.

Amazon also faces at least one lawsuit for excluding conservative and Christian nonprofits from its charity program, Amazon Smile, relying on the scandal-plagued far-left smear factory the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). The SPLC has long pressured Big Tech companies to blacklist conservative organizations that the SPLC falsely smears as “hate groups” and lists along with the Ku Klux Klan. A similar bias may be at work in this situation.

THREE THINGS AMERICANS MUST DO TO NEUTER THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Three Things Americans Must do to Neuter the Federal Government

The current situation is dire. Without immediate intervention, America will become a socialist state. RAIR Foundation USA has compiled a list of three very important items for Americans to neuter the federal government. If citizens do not act, America is over.

The founding fathers understood that the nature of government is to expand and the nature of man is to be free. The Constitution was written with these concepts in mind. The entire point of “limited government” and “self rule” was to empower the people, not the elites. The system of checks and balances, enumerated powers in the separate branches of government and the electoral college were all written precisely to stop the government from growing and becoming tyrannical.

With two million employees in the federal government alone, not including the post office, which has approximately 600k employees, does the federal government seem “limited” to you?

The following items are key to stopping the federal government from usurping more power, and are rarely discussed by patriots:

1.) Recall Bad Actors: Americans have a tendency to vote and go on with their lives. Subversive elected officials are free to wreak havoc on America with very little scrutiny. It is time that Americans recall bad people instead of waiting to vote them out. Conversely, pro-America elected officials are often left on their own, fighting every day without support of patriotic Americans. It is time for Americans to become engaged in supporting the good guys and active in recalling the bad guys. Right now, Marxists have infiltrated the highest levels of government. They must be recalled.

2.) States Must Stop Accepting Money from the Federal Government: The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution is so vitally important, but has all but been tossed aside. The power belongs to the states, not the federal government. “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the Federal Government, are few and defined,” said the “father of the Constitution,” James Madison in Federalist 45. But as the decades wore on, the federal government has not only usurped more and more power, they have become the “daddy” of the states by giving them funding, always with strings attached. The states are now completely dependent to the federal government. It must stop. Americans need to make sure that their states stop taking money from the federal government.

3.) All Legislation Must Include the Authors: While much has been discussed about the intent of the founding fathers, very little is discussed about the intent of legislation today. Members of congress rarely write the legislation they introduce, instead putting forward the agenda of hard left actors who write laws (and regulations) that affect all Americans. Radical groups compose legislation, then bribe elected officials with promises of phone-banking and door-knocking to help them keep their power. This is why elected officials often throw their weight behind bad legislation that Americans do not want. If Americans knew exactly who authored the laws, they would understand the intent behind those laws.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: ‘A FREE SOCIETY CANNOT ALLOW SOCIAL MEDIA GIANTS TO SILENCE THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE’ (VIDEO)

Transcript from the UN Speech:

Freedom and democracy must be constantly guarded and protected, both abroad and from within.  We must always be skeptical of those who want conformity and control.  Even in free nations, we see alarming signs and new challenges to liberty.

A small number of social media platforms are acquiring immense power over what we can see and over what we are allowed to say.  A permanent political class is openly disdainful, dismissive, and defiant of the will of the people.  A faceless bureaucracy operates in secret and weakens democratic rule.  Media and academic institutions push flat-out assaults on our histories, traditions, and values.

In the United States, my administration has made clear to social media companies that we will uphold the right of free speech.  A free society cannot allow social media giants to silence the voices of the people, and a free people must never, ever be enlisted in the cause of silencing, coercing, canceling, or blacklisting their own neighbors.

On September 24, 2019, President Trump used part of his speech at the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly to warn of Big Tech’s expanding power and influence. The U.S. President argued that social media censorship is incompatible with a free society. He also denounced the growing and dangerous trend of “silencing, coercing, canceling, or blacklisting” citizens.

Watch the following excerpt of President Trump’s speech:

Fast forward sixteen months, Twitter permanently suspends President Donald Trump’s account and censors the official @POTUS U.S. Government account.

The Following Action Must Be Taken

Over the past several years, Twitter, Facebook and Google, have made it a regular practice to delete selective content and entire accounts without warning or rationale, leaving users without recourse. During the 2020 U.S. presidential election the tech giants led an unprecedented censorship campaign against the President of the United States and his supporters.

Over the past week, these platforms have taken their actions to yet another level with the permanent ban of the account of the President Trump. As reported previously at RAIR Foundation USA, While every media business is certainly free to choose the content it publishes and the editorial position it advances on issues including politics, typical media businesses can be held liable for libel and slander for publishing erroneous and damaging content.

These social media behemoths, however, have successfully categorized themselves as “platforms” and not media companies that create or publish content. As “platforms,” these tech giants have successfully positioned themselves as equivalent to passive bulletin boards facilitating discussions, and not the actual creator or curator of that content. Much like a wireless carrier who is not liable for what is spoken on their phone lines, social media platforms are supposed to be the means for neutrally distributing content produced by others. As a result, the social media companies are not responsible for what is said or published on their “platforms.”

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act essentially provides an exemption to these “platforms” from the liability that all other media companies, including your local newspapers and tv stations, New York Times, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and individual bloggers, must defend themselves from every day.

Examples like the deplatforming of President Donald Trump and countless other conservatives makes it crystal clear that these social media giants have crossed the line from passive distributors of content like a wireless cell phone carrier facilitating phone calls and entrenched themselves deeply as editorial content businesses advancing political agendas.

The ability of these social media companies to become editorial content businesses is completely within their rights and totally within their discretion. BUT, if they make the decision to become editorial content businesses, as they clearly have, then the laws of the United States should treat these companies should lose their liability shield and be exposed to potential liability like all other editorial content businesses such as Associated Press, Time Magazine, Bloomberg New or the Wall Street Journal.

Ironically, back in 2015, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey tweeted “Twitter stands for the freedom of expression. We stand for speaking truth to power. And we stand for empowering dialogue.”

The deplatforming of President Trump by Twitter and the countless examples of these “platforms” removing content or restricting access to their distribution channels makes it crystal clear that these social media giants have obliterated the line from passive distributors and entrenched themselves deeply as editorial content businesses advancing political agendas.

Social media companies must be treated in like manner to how all other media companies are treated with accountability through potential liability. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act must be repealed – our freedoms under the constitution are dependent upon this.

Rush Limbaugh: The Swamp is Really Scared of Trump

Rush Limbaugh addressed the craziness of the past few days on his show on Friday and concluded something I think most of us have come to realize: the swamp is scared.

While discussing Nancy Pelosi’s latest absurd push for impeachment, Rush pointed out that there’s not enough time for Democrats to boot Trump out of office and/or prevent him from seeking the presidency again.

“So they gotta do this in 11 days. So they’ve gotta call the House together, then they got to get the Senate to go ahead and convict for this. And then they want a proviso that Trump cannot seek the presidency ever again,” Rush said.

“I swear. The entire Washington establishment is poised. They are recoiling in fear. They are cowering in fear in the corners. They are scared to death of Donald Trump. They are scared to death of you.”

Rush then addressed Pelosi’s bizarre suggestion that she has the military on standby in case Trump wants to launch a nuclear attack. “Who are we gonna nuke?” Trump asked. “The little pot-bellied dictator, Kim Jong-un?”

Pelosi is obviously not afraid Trump will launch a nuclear attack. So what are they afraid of? According to Rush, “They’re terrified that Trump is gonna unleash classified documents. You know, he’s got a bevy of ’em, folks. He’s got classified documents about the hoax, the four-year coup […] the four-year effort to get the election results of 2016 overturned. There are all kinds of people who broke the law, all kinds of people who are quaking in their boots. They’re worried silly that Trump is gonna unleash some of these classified documents.”

Rush also says they’re terrified Trump will pardon people “dangerous to the establishment.”

“Why did they want to stop Trump in the first place? Because they didn’t want what they have been up to (which is no good) for years to ever come out.”

“They didn’t want Trump to discover it and release it,” Rush continued. “They remain petrified for the next 12 days that Trump is going to release — somehow, someway — what he knows about these people. In other words, they’re worried to death that he’s got a card or two to play here yet, including the pardon power. They’ve got a lot of stuff to keep covered up.”

Mozilla CEO Says Deplatforming President Trump Isn’t Enough

BOYCOTT THUNDERBIRD AND/OR UNINSTALL IT NOW!

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Winifred Mitchell Baker, the executive chairwoman and CEO of Mozilla, says that deplatforming President Donald Trump “isn’t enough” and has made suggestions for social media and other platforms to crack down on the entire conservative movement.

“There is no question that social media played a role in the siege and take-over of the US Capitol on January 6,” Baker writes in a company blog post. “Since then there has been significant focus on the deplatforming of President Donald Trump. By all means the question of when to deplatform a head of state is a critical one, among many that must be addressed. When should platforms make these decisions? Is that decision-making power theirs alone?”

“But as reprehensible as the actions of Donald Trump are, the rampant use of the internet to foment violence and hate, and reinforce white supremacy is about more than any one personality,” she claims. “Donald Trump is certainly not the first politician to exploit the architecture of the internet in this way, and he won’t be the last. We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage has been done.”

Baker argues that “temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms” isn’t enough, and suggests the following actions be taken:

Reveal who is paying for advertisements, how much they are paying and who is being targeted.

Commit to meaningful transparency of platform algorithms so we know how and what content is being amplified, to whom, and the associated impact.

Turn on by default the tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation.

Work with independent researchers to facilitate in-depth studies of the platforms’ impact on people and our societies, and what we can do to improve things.

In other words, Baker is calling for an all-out assault against Trump and his supporters in the name of “transparency.” President Trump has endured bogus allegations of racism, white supremacy, xenophobia, etc., etc. for years, now, the Left is unified in claiming Trump “incited” an “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol, and is using that bogus claim as a pretext for Orwellian measures to silence Trump and his supporters, as well as efforts to identify, harass, and demonetize those they see as his enablers.

Does this sound familiar to you? I can’t decide whether this is like Oceania in 1984 or Germany in 1933. The Left, with the help of the mainstream media, Hollywood, and Big Tech, has waged a propaganda campaign designed to demonize the political Right, and thus justify the erosion of their freedoms. According to the radical Left, conservatives have no right to be heard and no right to make a living.

In other news, I’ve deleted Firefox, a browser created by Mozilla, from my computer.

WARNING: MOZILLA CALLS FOR MORE CENSORSHIP TO ‘BUILD A BETTER INTERNET’ – CELEBRATES TRUMP BAN

In the wake of the final suspension of US President Donald Trump by Twitter, left-wing Mozilla – developer of the Firefox browser – wants to go even further than deplatformimg. In a blog post published on January 8, 2021, the company argues that more needs to be done to eliminate “hate” from the Internet.

“There is no question that social media played a role in the siege and take-over of the US Capitol on January 6.” Mozilla slammed the “reprehensible actions of Donald Trump” who they claim exploited the “architecture of the internet” to “foment violence and hate, and reinforce white supremacy”.

“We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage. Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than the simple act of de-platforming, or the permanent removal of bad actors from social networks, ”says the foundation.

“We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage. Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than the simple act of de-platforming, or the permanent removal of bad actors from social networks, ” states Mozilla.

In order to protect the Internet from conservative voices that it considers dangerous, the organization proposes the following heavy-handed actions,

Censorship

Left-wing Mozilla’s use of countering hate as a justification for the removal of 1st amendment rights for anyone with whom the left disagrees, is the most recent example of authoritarian regimes across history and in the world today. The Nazis claimed all materials they banned to be “degenerate” or of Jewish nature or origin. In the Soviet Union, anything pre-revolutionary was subject to censorship and was deemed “politically incorrect”.  Islamic regimes censor everything from the time before the “Prophet” Muhammad as “Jahiliyyah”, the time of ignorance. Communist China has enacted a National Security Law which bans Western media and social media sites, in what is sometimes referred to as the “Great Firewall of China”.

Mozilla has joined the ranks of authoritarian regimes who will censor anything they deem “politically incorrect”, and target the creator.

Mozilla’s History of Cancel Culture

On April 3, 2014, the CEO of Mozilla, Brendan Eich, was deplatformed and pushed out of the position for making a donation to a “politically incorrect” side of proposition 8 in California. Eich was not only the co-founder of Mozilla but the inventor of Javascript, a code that most web browsers need to operate.

Militant LGBT activists led a campaign to cancel Eich after donating $1000.00 to support a proposition that would maintain the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Eich was one of the earliest people to be doxxed and deplatformed for his failure to submit to left-wing opinions.

The de-platforming of Mozilla’s CEO was one of the early examples set for corporate leaders in terms of what happens when they do not submit to left-wing opinions. It’s quite likely the template for the Silicon Valley companies dismantling the first amendment today.

The Most Definitive Video Yet of Capitol Police Letting the Protesters In

BY VICTORIA TAFT

SEE: https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/victoria-taft/2021/01/08/the-most-definitive-video-yet-of-capitol-police-letting-the-protesters-in-n1325022;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:
A protester was shot and killed and a Capitol Police officer died after protesters at a Trump rally poured into the Capitol Building and became violent. Soon thereafter, videos of crowds being allowed in by Capitol Police began to appear.

Here’s how I reported it at PJ Media:

One of the most pervasive story lines following the Capitol protest that turned violent is that the Capitol Police let in protesters.

Though some still doubt it, it’s beginning to appear that some of the protesters were, in fact, allowed onto the grounds and into the building, which explains why there were those who entered and stayed within the velvet guide ropes, taking selfies, and staying peaceful. And those who were not peaceful.

Indeed, two reporters from The Washington Examiner spoke with dozens of people who said that Capitol Police simply allowed them to come into the Capitol Building as they do with visitors.

And now there’s a definitive video showing that not only were police letting the protesters in, but a phalanx of police watched them let the protesters—some of whom were chanting, “f*cking traitors!”—into the building. You can hear another man wonder aloud if it might be some sort of trick when he said out loud, “they’re gonna lock us in.”

One officer greeted the protesters saying, “I don’t agree with you but …”—you can make out him saying “respect” as the crowd clambers in.

See the video in this tweet.

At another door, officers, who obviously had different rules of engagement, were physically halting people as they tried to come into the complex.

Rules changed quickly for the Capitol cops. In an area where a San Diego woman entered through a broken window, a Capitol Police officer shot and killed her.

Obviously, ROE were not the same from entrance to entrance.

The AP reports that the Capitol Police, who are mourning one of their own who was reportedly hit in the head by a violent protester during the takeover, were “still stinging from the uproar over the violent response by law enforcement to protests last June near the White House, officials also were intent on avoiding any appearance that the federal government was deploying active duty or National Guard troops against Americans.”

They were ready only “for a free speech demonstration” and, obviously, not for being overrun by protesters and an out-of-control mob.

The Capitol Police were twice offered federal help to protect the building before and during the rally. They twice said no thanks, according to the AP.

The All-Out Assault on Conservative Thought Has Just Begun

After the white nationalist riots in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and others renewed their demands for the suppression of conservative speech on social media. After Trump’s supporters breached the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Big Tech companies clamped down on President Donald Trump and many of his supporters. Incoming President Joe Biden has said he plans to pass a law against domestic terrorism.

While conservatives rightly denounced the violence this week, this response bodes ill for conservative speech not just on social media, but in the public square and even in private organizations.

In the aftermath of the Capitol riots, Twitter suspended President Donald Trump’s account for the first time and Facebook permanently banned the president. After Trump deleted the tweets Twitter had flagged and had his account restored, Twitter proceeded to ban him entirely on Friday, and then it banned the official President of the United States (POTUS) account.

Facebook throttled the great Rush Limbaugh, notifying him that his “Page has reduced distribution and other restrictions because of repeated sharing of false news.” Limbaugh left Twitter in protest after the platform banned Trump. Apple and Google attacked Parler, claiming that the new haven for conservatives had allowed people to plan the violence of the Capitol riots on its platform.

House Democrats filed articles of impeachment that explicitly blame President Trump for the Capitol riots, even though he never told his supporters to invade the Capitol. While the president’s exaggerated rhetoric inflamed the rioters, Democrats repeatedly did the same thing this summer. Before and after Black Lives Matter protests devolved into destructive and deadly riots, Democratic officials repeatedly claimed America suffers from “systemic racism” and institutionalized “white supremacy.”

Columbus’ Proposed Police Witch Hunt Will Send Chills Down Your Spine

Big Tech did not remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s accounts when she called for “uprisings” against the Trump administration. Facebook and Twitter did not target Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when she claimed that allegedly marginalized groups have “no choice but to riot.” These platforms did not act against Kamala Harris when she said the riots “should not” stop.

This week, Joe Biden condemned the Capitol rioters, saying, “What we witnessed yesterday was not dissent, it was not disorder, it was not protest. It was chaos. They weren’t protesters, don’t dare call them protesters. They were a riotous mob, insurrectionists, domestic terrorists. It’s that basic, it’s that simple.”

Yet he refused to speak in those terms when Black Lives Matter and antifa militants were throwing Molotov cocktails at federal buildings, setting up “autonomous zones,” and burning down cities. Instead, he condemned Trump for holding up a Bible at a church — without mentioning the fact that that very church had been set on fire the night before.

Despite this hypocrisy, Biden’s speech on Thursday proved instructive. Biden used the Capitol riots to condemn Trump’s entire presidency, accusing Trump of having “unleashed an all-out assault on our institutions of our democracy from the outset.” Biden twisted Trump’s actions into an attack on “democracy.” He claimed Trump’s originalist judges were a ploy to undermine impartial justice — when they were truly the exact opposite. Biden claimed Trump’s complaints about the Obama administration spying on his campaign were merely an “attack” on America’s “intelligence services.” Biden said Trump’s complaints about media bias constituted an attack on the “free press,” when the Obama administration actually attacked the free press.

Despite the fact that leftist violence has wracked American cities for years (remember Ferguson and the shooting of police officers in Dallas in 2016?), Biden seized on the Capitol riots as evidence that everything the Right had been saying the past four years was a blatant and destructive lie.

This reminded me of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a once-noble civil rights organization that has become a far-left smear factory. The SPLC weaponizes its history suing white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan into bankruptcy and monitoring them through its Klanwatch program to silence conservative thought. It brands mainstream conservative organizations “hate groups,” listing them along with the KKK on a “hate map.” This “hate map” inspired a deranged man to target the Family Research Council (FRC) for a mass shooting in 2012.

Doubling Down on Division: Joe Biden Uses Capitol Riot to Demonize Trump’s Entire Presidency

The Trump administration has worked with conservative organizations the SPLC falsely smears as “hate groups,” and the SPLC has made hay of this fact. Its latest “hate group” report — published last March — mentioned Trump no fewer than 66 times. Yet the SPLC carried water for antifa during the riots this summer.

The SPLC has repeatedly pressured Big Tech to clamp down on conservative “hate groups,” suggesting this is the right way to fight white supremacist terrorismAmazon has excluded mainstream conservative Christian nonprofits from its charity program, Amazon Smile.

After Charlottesville, the SPLC raked in cash with big donations from Apple and JPMorgan. CNN even shared the SPLC “hate map” on its website and Twitter account, effectively endorsing the false accusations.

Not surprisingly, the SPLC has already seized the moment after the Capitol riots.

“One of the powerful lessons we must take away from this week’s coup attempt by President Trump and his supporters is that 2021 is not a time for half measures in the fight against hate and extremism,” Margaret Huang, the SPLC’s president and CEO, said in a statement on Friday. “This violence is bolstered by the infrastructure of white nationalist movements that the Southern Poverty Law Center has been tracking and fighting for decades.”

She warned that the Capitol riots will become “a recruitment tool for white nationalist movements” and “hate groups.” She claimed that “the violence in Washington was predictable and preventable,” citing the SPLC’s list of “hate groups” — specifically the increase in the number of white nationalist hate groups. (Since the SPLC does not explain how large specific “hate groups” are, the number of such “groups” is arguably meaningless. Some “hate groups” consist of merely one person.)

Prominent leftists are likely to celebrate the SPLC as the harbinger of this violence, and the SPLC does do some important work monitoring white nationalists. Unfortunately, the group also smears conservative and Christian groups because they defend biblical sexuality, oppose illegal immigration, and warn about the threat of radical Islamist terrorism. Even fellow liberals have condemned the SPLC’s “anti-LGBT hate group” accusation against Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a conservative Christian law firm that has won multiple Supreme Court cases.

The SPLC also has skeletons in its closet. In 2019, the SPLC fired its co-founder, had its president step down, and had a prominent member of the board distance herself. The scandal broke out due to accusations of (decades-old) racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Amid the scandal, former employees came forward to expose the “con” of exaggerating hate to bilk donors.

Despite all this, the SPLC still enjoys considerable sway among Big Tech, corporate America, the legacy media, and the Democratic Party. When Attorney General Dana Nessel (D-Mich.) announced a new “hate crimes” unit, she specifically cited the SPLC’s list of “hate groups” in the state. Kamala Harris, soon to become vice president, has repeatedly cited the SPLC in attacking Trump’s judicial and administration nominees.

This makes it all the more ominous that Biden has said he plans to prioritize passing a law against domestic terrorism. Domestic terrorism is indeed a serious problem in America, but Biden’s egregious and blatant double standard on the Capitol riots and antifa, along with his party’s growing alliance with the SPLC, suggests he may use such a law to silence conservative dissent while going soft on far-left rioters.

Conservative Christians should pay close attention to this threat. Biden, like the SPLC, has long championed LGBT activism, and in 2018 at an LGBT activist group, he attacked people who have “tried to define family” in the U.S. as “the dregs of society.” At the CNN LGBT town hall in October 2019, Biden called for a kind of terror watchlist to monitor organizations that oppose same-sex marriage and transgender identity. Biden firmly supports the Equality Act, which would outlaw discrimination against LGBT people. While Americans do not support discrimination, laws like this have been weaponized to punish Christians for refusing to celebrate same-sex weddings.

Buckle up, conservatives. The Biden administration represents a serious threat to conservative thought in the public square, and now Democrats have both houses of Congress to ram their agenda through.

Biden to Nominate Anti-Gun Judge Merrick Garland for Attorney General

Anti-2A judge Merrick Garland is Biden's likely pick for Attorney General

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- At a news conference on January 7th, President-elect Joe Biden announced he will nominate U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Judge Merrick Garland for Attorney General. Biden’s choice of a noted Second Amendment opponent to lead the Department of Justice is an overt assault on gun rights and gun owners.

Following the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Garland as Justice Scalia’s replacement. With an understanding of Garland’s unacceptable jurisprudence, NRA strongly opposed Garland’s nomination and the Senate wisely chose not to consider the nomination.

Garland’s anti-Second Amendment position is clear from his record. Garland does not believe the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. On March 9, 2007, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia issued a ruling in Parker v. District of Columbia, the precursor to Heller v. District of Columbia. The opinion struck down the District of Columbia’s complete ban on the civilian ownership of handguns and recognized that the Second Amendment protects an individual right. Expressing disapproval of the panel’s ruling, Garland voted to rehear the case.

Moreover, Garland has worked to undermine a federal statute meant to protect gun owners from firearms registration. In the 2000 case NRA v. Reno, NRA sued to stop the Department of Justice from retaining successful National Instant Criminal Backgrounds Check System (NICS) transaction records in what the agency termed an “audit log.” In relation to NICS, federal law (18 U.S.C. 922(t)(2)(c)) requires the government to “destroy all records of the system with respect to the call (other than the identifying number and the date the number was assigned) and all records of the system relating to the person or the transfer.” In a three-judge panel, Garland joined a colleague to uphold this Department of Justice practice, imperiling the privacy of gun owners.

Given his long history of hostility towards the Second Amendment and gun owners, Judge Garland is the wrong choice to lead our nation’s Department of Justice.

Pelosi Moves to Block Trump’s Access to Nuclear Codes

In today’s overreach by Democrats, Nancy Pelosi is demanding that the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff block Trump’s access to the nuclear codes—for no other purpose than to continue smearing Trump as crazy and dangerous.

“This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) wrote.

This is so ridiculous it shouldn’t even warrant any ink to print, but here we are. 2021 is proving to be even more unbelievable than 2020. The president may be a boisterous blowhard who speaks unwisely off the cuff more than I would like, but who is he going to nuke? And why? And frankly, at this point, if he did nuke someone, it would be a welcome relief from the sound of Pelosi’s voice.

General Milley patted our boozy speaker on the head and assured her that the president cannot just launch a nuclear strike on anyone he wants, nor has any president had that power. Do these people think we live in a Hollywood blockbuster where “The Button” is just to the right of the Resolute Desk, where the president can push it at will? I’m starting to doubt reality at this point because it is simply too ridiculous to believe. Have I been drugged? I feel as if I’ve been slipped a mickey and everyone sounds crazy as hell.

Democrats and some Republicans are calling for invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president a few days before he leaves voluntarily, just for malicious purposes. They don’t really believe any of these ridiculous claims they are making, but they are determined to get a photo-op of the president being led out of the White House by military personnel. They are out for total destruction of his legacy, which was a great one that far outperformed any president in the last forty or so years.

Let’s not forget that the man they are accusing of being unhinged and likely to kill us all literally started no new wars and brought peace to the Middle East. They’re desperate for you to forget that. Getting that photo-op of Trump being dragged out of his office would ensure that no one would remember anything but that terrible final moment.

I can’t think of anything less American and less “democratic” than that.

The Left Slanderously Accuses Trump of Inciting the Capitol Riot

Progressives' malicious power grab escalates to the wickedest heights.

A contingent of protestors invaded, vandalized and occupied portions of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th -- as the constitutional process of electoral college certification of the 2020 presidential election results was getting underway. The mob violence was an outright assault on the greatest constitutional republic in the world. But instead of making an effort to unite the country against such anarchy, the Left’s leaders and their friends in the establishment media are applying their usual double standard of “for thee, but not for me.” Not surprisingly, they are blaming President Trump for the Capitol unrest, falsely claiming he incited violence during his speech to supporters at Wednesday’s otherwise peaceful “Save America” rally.

President Trump and his supporters at the rally were simply exercising their First Amendment rights of free speech and peaceable assembly. The president’s refusal to concede an election marred by reports of widespread fraud which troubled many voters was not an incitement to violence, nor was his presentation of evidence of a stolen election.

President Trump told his supporters, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women.” In so doing, he was clearly urging them merely to march peacefully and petition their government.

President Trump did NOT tell supporters to "storm the Capitol" or anything remotely similar. He was in no way responsible for the actions of a fringe breakaway group. Moreover, it remains a question as to who the rioters actually were. Indeed, there are credible reports of Antifa infiltration of the crowd.

President Trump made a video telling people to avoid violence and he urged calm on Twitter. Yet Twitter locked him out as if he were doing the opposite.

After recessing their electoral college certification proceedings for nearly six hours until the Capitol building was secured by a strengthened law enforcement contingent, the members of Congress reconvened to resume in a bipartisan show of support for constitutional order. The electoral college results were officially certified early Thursday morning.

In a tweet released in President Trump’s name (since Twitter had suspended his account), the president promised “an orderly transition on January 20” while at the same time continuing to “disagree with the outcome of the election.”

Nevertheless, the Trump-haters wasted no time blaming him for the Capitol violence. Joe Biden piled on against the president. So did the presumptive Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“What happened at the U.S. Capitol yesterday was an insurrection against the United States, incited by the president," Schumer said in a statement on Thursday. "This president should not hold office one day longer." He recklessly called on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office, even after the president promised an orderly transition to Biden’s presidency.

“I join the Senate Democratic leader in calling on the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th amendment,” Pelosi said. “If the Vice President and Cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment. That is the overwhelming sentiment of my caucus,” she added.

Precipitously removing the duly-elected president of the United States less than two weeks before the inauguration of his successor is anything but an orderly transition of power. It is yet another left-wing power play, exacting revenge on a president they hate by twisting the facts about the election and the Capitol occupation, censoring the president, and trying to kick him out of office before the end of his term to humiliate him.

Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went after Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley as well, insisting they “must resign” simply because they raised objections to state electors during the congressional electoral college proceedings.

The leftwing media also chimed in. For example, the front page of The New York Times on January 7th displayed the banner headline in all caps, “TRUMP INCITES MOB.” The Times’ editorial board claimed that “Mr. Trump’s seditious rhetoric prompted a mob of thousands of people to storm the U.S. Capitol building.” False.

CNN’s Don Lemon accused President Trump of being the leader of “a mob insurrection to destroy the Capitol and our democracy.” False.

In contrast, much of the establishment media downplayed, and in many cases excused, the months of violence last year perpetrated by left-wing radicals across the country. Such violence included repeated assaults on a federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon. Members of the media called the leftwing riots "mostly peaceful protests" in the cause of "racial and social justice."

As FrontPage Magazine's own Daniel Greenfield pointed out in his January 7th article,

Violent protests, including those targeting public officials and legislative bodies, had been championed and normalized by Democrats and their media over the last four years. That included the harassment of officials, property destruction, and assaulting law enforcement. Now, as the Democrats expect to take power, they suddenly decided that rioting is bad.

Nobody who cares about preserving the rule of law in our constitutional republic applauds what happened at the Capitol on Wednesday. But progressive leaders and their allies in the mainstream media apply an entirely different standard when violence serves their purposes. And driven as they are by malice and hatred, they will surely find any way to justify violence against President Trump personally, his Republican supporters in Congress, and the more than 70 million voters who supported him in the 2020 election.

SARAH CORRIHER LIVE; 31 MINUTE REPORT FROM WASHINGTON, D.C.: “THEY DID IT FOR AMERICA”

BEST VIDEO COVERAGE SEEN ON YOUTUBE TO DATE THAT PROVES CAPITOL POLICE LET PEOPLE INTO CAPITOL; ANTIFA DISGUISED AS TRUMP SUPPORTERS PUSH THEIR WAY IN; MEDIA STILL BLAMING PATRIOTIC TRUMP SUPPORTERS FOR THE VIOLENCE

SARAH CORRIHER'S HEARING IMPAIRED BY FLASH-BANG DEVICE FROM POLICE

This video chronologs the Save America event and the events of that entire day. It shows that the patriots were not the villains that they have been portrayed as. There was no violence against any human being, and by the left's newest definition of "peaceful protest", it definitely qualified. The only crime that was committed (by some of the patriots) was breaking and entering, and even that's questionable on its own because they were breaking into what ought to be public property. Some of them were screaming, "It's our house. We paid for it!" Far be it from the prevailing narrative, those people are not only the good guys, they are the best of our best. The Founding Fathers would have been proud of these people. We have three groups of people condemning them: the media, the wholly corrupt politicians, and the neo-cons. Don't let them trick you, and see for yourself in this video. It's important to remember that not only was Trump betrayed by everyone, but so were we. Help us to break this lie, because it is going to be used by these people to remove even more of our rights. Otherwise, we can expect for everyone who isn't a blue-haired Democrat to be labeled (and arrested) for being a 'terrorist'. “Trump Supporters” Who Stormed Capitol Could Face Sedition Charges

"SUPPORTERS OF DONALD TRUMP" WERE MOST LIKELY ANTIFA MEMBERS

Trump Supporters Who Stormed Capitol Could Face Sedition Charges

"Supporters of President Donald Trump" who stormed the U.S. Capitol, breaking windows and stealing things, could face charges including sedition, insurrection and rioting, Washington, D.C.'s top federal prosecutor said on Thursday.

"All of those charges are on the table," Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin told reporters in a call, when asked about possible charges of sedition, rioting or insurrection.

"We're not going to keep anything out of our arsenal."

The Justice Department has filed 55 criminal cases about events this week, Sherwin said, some pre-dating Wednesday's assault on the seat of government, including the arrest of far-right Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio on Monday.

Sherwin repeatedly said no suspects in Wednesday's riots would be ruled out - even when asked whether this could include Capitol Police who may have been complicit or Trump himself for urging protesters to march on the Capitol at a rally on Wednesday.

"We're looking at all actors here and anyone that had a role, and the evidence fits the elements of a crime, they're going to be charged."

The break-in forced members of Congress who were in the process of certifying President-elect Joe Biden's Nov. 3 election victory to evacuate the chambers for several hours.

The U.S. Capitol Police said they had arrested 14 suspected of involvement in the rioting, most charged with unlawful entry, while the Metropolitan Police Department made at least 68 arrests.

Much of the looting and rioting was caught on video and photos which went viral on social media, and the FBI has been asking the public to submit tips to help it identify and track down suspects.

The FBI is also taking the lead on an investigation into two pipe bombs that were recovered from the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic national committees.

FBI investigators were knocking on doors around Capitol Hill asking for home security videos, said Charles Allen, a Councilman for the neighborhood.

Some of the people who were arrested on minor charges such as unlawful entry or violating the city's curfew appeared in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia on Thursday, and were ordered not to return to the city unless it was related to their criminal case.

Meanwhile, Sherwin said his office was filing 15 criminal cases in the U.S. District Court on Thursday.

In one case, a man was charged with knowingly entering a restricted building, assault on a federal officer and violent entry to the Capitol grounds.

A Capitol Police officer said in the charging documents that he was attempting to form a barricade with other officers on the Senate side when the man attempted to push past and then punched him.

While the number of people arrested is expected to grow, the initial numbers reported by Washington, D.C. police paled in comparison with the more than 300 arrested following the June 1 protests in Washington over the death of George Floyd, a Black man, at the hands of white police officer in Minneapolis.

At that protest baton-swinging police and federal agents fired smoke canisters, flash-bang grenades and rubber bullets to drive protesters farther from the White House, enabling Trump to walk across Lafayette Square and hold up a Bible in front of historic St. John’s Church.

Law enforcement officers were severely criticized for being too aggressive at Lafayette Square. The Capitol Police are now facing questions about why they did not do more to secure the Capitol building.

Battle For Capitol Hill: Antifa Infiltrators Identified Breeching Doors And Windows Of Congress

VIDEO PROOF

Video taken during the storming of Congress on Wednesday afternoon proves that Antifa infiltrators - and not supporters of President Trump - stormed the Halls of Congress, breaking in doors and windows to gain entry. LEADERS OF U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DEFYING GOD WITH “INCLUSIVE” LANGUAGE
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
In fulfillment of Bible prophecy, the Democratic leadership of the 117th U.S. House of Representatives is
attempting to defy God with an “inclusive language” policy. The new rules would “address issues of inequities
on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or
national origin.” This is impossible nonsense, of course, since addressing alleged inequality on the basis of
sexual orientation or gender identity creates inequality against sex and religion, etc. The rule would outlaw
the use of he and shefather, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, husband,
wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandson, or granddaughter, among others.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the new measures would make the House of Representatives “the most
inclusive in history.” True, and it would also make it the most stupid in history. “So God created man in his
own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:27). “The
kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his
anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in
the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision” (Psalm 2:2-4).

UNITED METHODIST MINISTER INVOKES HINDU GOD AT OPENING OF U.S. CONGRESS
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
Emanuel Cleaver, an ordained United Methodist minister and Democrat Representative, opened the first
session of the 117th U.S. Congress by praying in the name of a Hindu god. He concluded, “We ask it in the
name of the monotheistic God, Brahma, and god known by many names by different faiths. Amen and
a-woman.” The term “amen” has nothing to do with gender, of course. It simply means “so be it.” According
to the Encyclopedia Britannica, “Brahma was born from a golden egg and created the earth and all things
on it. Later myths describe him as having come forth from a lotus that issued from Vishnu’s navel.”

WALL STREET JOURNAL STANDS UP AGAINST CANCEL CULTURE
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is standing up for freedom of speech against the totalitarian cancel culture.
After the WSJ published an editorial on Dec. 11 by Joseph Epstein poking some fun at Joe Biden’s wife, Jill,
for flaunting the title of “Dr.,” there was a “flood of media and Twitter criticism,” angry tirades demanding
an apology, retraction, lifelong ban of Epstein, and the resignation of the WSJ editorial editor. Epstein was
sharply criticized by Northwestern University, where he taught some 20 years ago. The school went so far
as to remove Epstein’s name from its website listing past faculty. In his reply to the critics, Paul Gigot,
editor of the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page, wrote, “My guess is that the Biden team concluded it was
a chance to use the big gun of identity politics to send a message to critics as it prepares to take power.
There’s nothing like playing the race or gender card to stifle criticism. ... these pages aren’t going to stop
publishing provocative essays merely because they offend the new administration or the political censors
in the media and academe.” In a report on the WSJ brouhaha, The New Criterion observed, “Last month,
after the electors met to cast their votes for him, Joe Biden once again made a plea for unity. ‘Now it’s time
to turn the page ... to unite and to heal,’ he said. We applaud that sentiment. But we wonder what he
means by ‘unite’ and ‘heal.’ To judge by the actions of the institutions supporting his cause in this sorry
episode, ‘turning the page’ might just be euphemism for sweeping everything and everyone out of step
with his program into the oubliette” (“The ‘Dr.’ will see you now,” The New Criterion, Jan. 2021).

U.S. DIVORCE RATE HITS 50-YEAR LOW, BUT MARRIAGES ALSO ON THE DECLINE
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “U.S. Divorce Rate,” Christian Headlines, Nov. 11, 2020: “The new data
shows that 14.9 marriages per 1,000 ended in divorce in 2019, a rate that is the lowest it’s been since
1970, according to an analysis by author Wendy Wang, director of research for the Institute for Family
Studies. It’s even slightly less than in 1970 when it was 15.0, Wang wrote in an online analysis. The data is
derived from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. ... The drop in the divorce rate likely will
continue, despite the pandemic, Wang asserted. New data from the American Family Survey shows that 58
percent of married Americans say ‘the pandemic has made them appreciate their spouse more and half
agree that their commitment to marriage has deepened,’ Wang wrote.  ... But the Census data also has
some bad news for the nation: The marriage rate continued to decline in 2019, hitting an all-time low.
‘For every 1,000 unmarried adults in 2019, only 33 got married. This number was 35 a decade ago in 2010
and 86 in 1970,’ Wang wrote.”

CIRCUIT COURT STRIKES DOWN BAN AGAINST “CONVERSION THERAPY”
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “Court Strikes Down,” PJMedia, Nov. 25, 2020: “Last week, a panel on the
11th Circuit Court of Appeals effectively struck down two Florida bans on sexual orientation change efforts
(SOCE) that sought to ban counselors from putting minors through ‘conversion therapy.’ The court ruled
that the laws violated the First Amendment by restricting free speech. While LGBT activists have rightly
condemned the historic abuses of ‘conversion therapy’ in the past, modern SOCE therapists use patient-
directed talk therapy, not ‘shock therapy.’ When the City of Boca Raton and the County of Palm Beach
banned SOCE counseling, licensed marriage and family therapists Robert Otto and Julie Hamilton sued,
seeking an injunction to prevent the city and county from enacting their bans. ... The therapists argue that
‘their clients typically have sincerely held religious beliefs conflicting with homosexuality, and voluntarily
seek SOCE counseling in order to live in congruence with their faith and to conform their identity, concept
of self, attractions, and behaviors to their sincerely held religious beliefs.’ ... As Judge Grant wrote, ‘The
ordinances thus codify a particular viewpoint--sexual orientation is immutable, but gender is not— and
prohibit the therapists from advancing any other perspective when counseling clients.’ ... This involves an
unconstitutional restriction of free speech. ‘Whether therapy is prohibited depends only on the content of
the words used in that therapy, and the ban on that content is because the government disagrees with it.
And whether the government’s disagreement is for good reasons, great reasons, or terrible reasons has
nothing at all to do with it. All that matters is that a therapist’s speech to a minor client is legal or illegal
under the ordinances based solely on its content,’ Judge Grant wrote. ... Lawsuits against ‘conversion
therapy’ bans received a new lease on life thanks to NIFLA v. Becerra. In that decision, Justice Clarence
Thomas explicitly struck down California’s law forcing crisis pregnancy centers to advertise abortion under
the argument that states can regulate ‘professional speech.’ In striking down California’s law, Thomas
referenced a case (King v. Governor of New Jersey) involving bans on sexual orientation change efforts.
Otto v. Boca Raton represents a landmark case for therapy freedom.”

BIGGEST LOCKDOWN IS COMING
(Friday Church News Notes, January 8, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) -
Lockdowns dominated the news for 2020, but the really big lockdown is in the future. Bible prophecy was
fulfilled literally and precisely in the first coming of Christ, and it will be fulfilled in the same manner in His
second coming. As a precursor, the Antichrist will lockdown the whole world with his worship program and
economic control scheme, backed up by the death penalty. It will be a global North Korea. “And he had
power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause
that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small
and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And
that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his
name” (Revelation 13:15-17). The Covid pandemic is child’s play compared with the trouble that looms on
the horizon. Billions of people will die during the Great Tribulation from wars, famine, pestilence,
earthquakes, and totalitarianism on a scale that will make Stalin and Mao seem like choir boys. It is all
described in the book of Revelation for those who are interested. It is called “the day of the Lord” because
it will spell doom for “the day of man.”

The Hill’s Morning Report: Trump finally concedes; 25th Amendment pressure grows

Fallout from the breach of the Capitol by rioters continued on Thursday amid calls for the Cabinet and Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump as unfit to carry out his duties.

Under intense bipartisan pressure Thursday, the president acknowledged his defeat in the 2020 election one day after vowing he would continue to contest the results. In a nearly three-minute video taped at the White House, Trump decried the mob he had encouraged, which swarmed the Capitol on Wednesday as Congress confirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

“We have just been through an intense election and emotions are high. But now tempers must be cooled and calm restored,” Trump said. “A new administration will be inaugurated on Jan. 20. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.”

The president’s sudden conciliatory outreach took place following a persuasion effort through Ivanka Trump, steered by White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and counsel Pat Cipolloneaccording to multiple outlets. It took place as at least 200 House lawmakers advocated expelling Trump from office (NBC News).

Early on Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) advocated his removal, saying Trump’s final days in office posed a danger to the nation.

“This is an urgency of the highest magnitude,” Pelosi said. “While there are only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for America” (The Hill).

Invoking the 25th Amendment, however, has been dismissed by Pence and ignored by the Cabinet, both necessary under the Constitution to proceed. According to The New York Times and Business Insider, the vice president opposes the idea of moving to declare Trump unfit to serve, despite his concerns about events he witnessed on Wednesday.

Biden on Thursday said in a statement through an aide that any invocation of the 25th Amendment would be up to the vice president and the Cabinet, not him. He avoided questions about impeaching Trump a second time (The Associated Press).

Most lawmakers approach discussions about removing Trump as a form of public censure rather than as a viable procedural option as Biden’s inauguration draws near.

Despite the president’s sudden embrace of “healing,” he is contemplating travel next week to the southwestern border to tout his controversial immigration policies, according to The New York Times. He’s also mulling the idea of a media exit interview. The president and his family have discussed departing the White House on Jan. 19, the Times reports, and sources tell Politico that Trump favors the idea of being able to use Air Force One, which is possible only while he’s president, to make his exit from Washington. Where he will go is unclear; a South Florida party or rally among friends and supporters is a possible destination, according to reports.

The Hill: Calls grow louder to remove Trump under 25th Amendment.

The Hill: Pelosi, Schumer say they haven't heard from Pence on invoking the 25th Amendment.

CNN: What is the 25th Amendment and how does it work?

Politifact: Using the 25th Amendment or impeaching Trump: Could they happen?

The Hill: Former White House chief of staff John Kelly says Trump Cabinet should discuss the 25th Amendment.

Two House Republicans on Thursday offered their support for a procedure to remove Trump. Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger became the first, with Rep. Steve Stivers (Ohio) adding he would “not be opposed.”

Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the two foremost objectors to the Electoral College count on Wednesday, joined Trump in feeling the wrath of some of their peers.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), a top Biden ally, called on Hawley and Cruz to resign. Book publisher Simon & Schuster announced it canceled the publication of a pending book by Hawley about Big Tech, withdrawing publication “after his role in what became a dangerous threat to our democracy and freedom.”

Hawley fired back in a statement, calling the company’s decision a “direct assault on the First Amendment” (The Hill).

The Kansas City Star: “The biggest mistake I’ve ever made,” said former Sen. John Danforth (R-Mo.), who promoted Hawley at the outset of his political career.

The Hill: Donor who gave millions to Hawley urges Senate to censure him for “irresponsible” behavior.

Peggy Noonan: Bring the insurrectionists to justice.

Governors weigh in: Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), who has not discounted making a future bid for the White House, said he supports Trump’s removal from office or his resignation (The Hill). … Republican Gov. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts echoed that position, calling on the president to “step down” in response to his behavior and the mob violence seen in Washington (The Hill). … North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D), who repeatedly clashed with Trump last year as the pandemic worsened, tweeted, “This president has betrayed our country and is therefore unfit to lead it. He should resign or be removed from office.”

> Trump & Republican lawmakersThe Hill’s Alexander Bolton reports that GOP senators say they feel a sense of growing regret over not standing up to the president sooner in retrospect following Wednesday’s attack. One Republican senator who requested anonymity to discuss his conversations with GOP colleagues acknowledged GOP lawmakers should have served as a stronger check on the president over the past four years.

“We should have done more to push back, both against his rhetoric and some of the things he did legislatively,” said the lawmaker. “The mistake we made is that we always thought he was going to get better. We thought that once he got the nomination, and then once he got a Cabinet he was going to get better, he was going to be more presidential.”

> The president’s party: National Republicans interviewed by The Hill say Trump may have permanently alienated millions of center-right voters who were disgusted by Wednesday’s ugly scene in Washington. But they acknowledged that the president retains enormous political power for the time being, despite bipartisan calls that he resign or be ousted from the Oval Office immediately (The Hill).

> Legal jeopardyThe New York Times, Michael S. Schmidt and Maggie Haberman: Trump in recent weeks is said to have discussed with aides the prospect of pardoning himself. The president has long maintained he has such power and his polling of aides’ views is typically a sign he is poised to act. Trump has expressed concern that he will be a target of law enforcement after leaving office.

"His legal risks increase immeasurably come Jan. 21, both on the civil and the criminal side," Danya Perry, a former state and federal prosecutor in New York, told NPR in November.

LEADING THE DAY

REPERCUSSIONS: Transportation Secretary Elaine Chaowife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos resigned on Thursday in reaction to Wednesday’s tumultuous events in Washington (The Associated Press). … U.S. Special Envoy to Northern Ireland Mick MulvaneyTrump’s former White House chief of staff, resigned (CNBC) . … Ryan Tully, senior director for European and Russian Affairs at the White House, also quit (Bloomberg News), as did Tyler Goodspeed, the acting chairman of Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers, and Mark Vandroff, senior director for defense policy at the National Security Council (The New York Times and Defense News).

At least nine senior administration officials have announced their resignations (The Associated Press). At the same time, lawmakers and others are urging administration personnel to remain in place to help ensure an orderly transition.

“No matter what course of action is taken against President Trump in 13 days, Joe Biden will be sworn in as President of the United States. Until then, I urge the good men and women honorably serving at all levels of the federal government to please stay at their post for the protection of our democracy,” West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat who represents a red state, said in a statement. “The actions of a rogue president will not and should not reflect on you. Instead, your patriotism and commitment to the greater good of our country will be reaffirmed.”

Politico: Former White House communications director Alysa Farah: “I stepped down because I saw where this was heading.”

> Capitol security: Hours after Pelosi on Thursday called for the resignation of U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, he submitted his resignation with barely seven months on the job (The Hill). Pelosi also announced the resignation of the House sergeant-at-arms after the shocking breach of the Capitol by rioters.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), the top House appropriator charged with funding the Capitol Police, joined the Speaker on Thursday in promising an investigation or review of security planning and police responses, including the fatal shooting by an officer of a 35-year-old woman inside the Capitol. "There were some strategic mistakes from the very beginning," Ryan said (The Hill and Politico).

The Hill: Bipartisan anger builds over police failure at the Capitol.

The Hill: Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick collapsed after being injured while confronting rioters on Wednesday and died on Thursday night. He became the fourth fatality tied to the Capitol clashes.

During a news conference, Pelosi said her focus remains on what she called the “danger” Trump and his supporters pose between now and the administration of the oaths of office to Biden and Kamala Harris as vice president.

"If there's anything learned about [Wednesday's violence], is that we have to be very, very careful. Because these people and their leader, Donald Trump, do not care about the security of people, they don't care about our democracy, they don't care about the peaceful transfer of power," she said (The Hill).

The Associated Press reported that the Capitol Police turned down two offers of federal help — one from the Pentagon three days before Wednesday’s mayhem and another from the Justice Department on Wednesday with an offer of FBI assistance. The Capitol Police planned in advance only for a free speech demonstration, despite detailed news accounts (see The Washington Post) about extremist, pro-Trump groups that intended to rally in Washington to oppose Biden’s victory, with excitement about Trump’s invitation on Twitter: “Be there, will be wild!” (The New York Times).

Earlier in the day, Sund, a former D.C. police officer, defended his team’s response. The assault on the Capitol was “unlike any I have ever experienced in my 30 years in law enforcement here in Washington, D.C.,″ he said. ”Make no mistake: these mass riots were not First Amendment activities; they were criminal riotous behavior. The actions of the USCP officers were heroic given the situation they faced″ (The Associated Press).

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) on Thursday added to the day’s criticism. “Obviously it was a failure or you would not have had people enter the Capitol by breaking windows and terrorizing the members of Congress who were doing a very sacred requirement of their jobs,″ she said.

> Megaphones: In one of the most consequential reactions to Wednesday’s violence and Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, Twitter and Facebook on Wednesday initially took steps to temporarily suspend Trump’s accounts, despite howls of protest from the president’s base (The  Washington Post). A day later, Facebook and Instagram (owned by Facebook), extended the suspension indefinitely — at least through the remainder of Trump’s presidency (The Washington Post).

Twitter, for years a powerful Trump megaphone, ended a 12-hour suspension of the president’s account on Thursday, noting that the platform might take further action while it tracks “activity on the ground and statements made off Twitter” (The Associated Press). The president had immediately deleted some of his tweets in an effort to release Twitter’s suspension (Fox News).

The social media behemoths have spent much of Trump’s term tiptoeing around objections that the president uses the platforms to spread false information and drive news media coverage while also employing divisive, bullying language akin to hate speech to assail people who do not have equivalent social media clout to fight back. Facebook and Twitter are under intense regulatory and congressional scrutiny as Democrats prepare to control both the executive and legislative branches this month.
