Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland

The Secretary of Homeland Security has issued a new National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin regarding the current heightened threat environment across the United States.  The Homeland continues to face a diverse and challenging threat environment leading up to and following the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks as well religious holidays we assess could serve as a catalyst for acts of targeted violence. These threats include those posed by domestic terrorists, individuals and groups engaged in grievance-based violence, and those inspired or motivated by foreign terrorists and other malign foreign influences. These actors are increasingly exploiting online forums to influence and spread violent extremist narratives and promote violent activity. Such threats are also exacerbated by impacts of the ongoing global pandemic, including grievances over public health safety measures and perceived government restrictions.

Duration

Issued:  August 13, 2021 02:00 pm
Expires:  November 11, 2021 02:00 pm

Additional Details

  • Through the remainder of 2021, racially- or ethnically-motivated violent extremists (RMVEs) and anti-government/anti-authority violent extremists will remain a national threat priority for the United States. These extremists may seek to exploit the emergence of COVID-19 variants by viewing the potential re-establishment of public health restrictions across the United States as a rationale to conduct attacks.  Pandemic-related stressors have contributed to increased societal strains and tensions, driving several plots by domestic violent extremists, and they may contribute to more violence this year.
  • Additionally, leading up to the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula recently released its first English-language copy of Inspire magazine in over four years, which demonstrates that foreign terrorist organizations continue efforts to inspire U.S.-based individuals susceptible to violent extremist influences.
  • Historically, mass-casualty domestic violent extremist attacks linked to RMVEs have targeted houses of worship and crowded commercial facilities or gatherings. Some RMVEs advocate via online platforms for a race war and have stated that civil disorder provides opportunities to engage in violence in furtherance of ideological objectives. The reopening of institutions, including schools, as well as several dates of religious significance over the next few months, could also provide increased targets of opportunity for violence though there are currently no credible or imminent threats identified to these locations.
  • Foreign and domestic threat actors, to include foreign intelligence services, international terrorist groups and domestic violent extremists, continue to introduce, amplify, and disseminate narratives online that promote violence, and have called for violence against elected officials, political representatives, government facilities, law enforcement, religious communities or commercial facilities, and perceived ideologically-opposed individuals. There are also continued, non-specific calls for violence on multiple online platforms associated with DVE ideologies or conspiracy theories on perceived election fraud and alleged reinstatement, and responses to anticipated restrictions relating to the increasing COVID cases.
  • Ideologically motivated violent extremists fueled by personal grievances and extremist ideological beliefs continue to derive inspiration and obtain operational guidance through the consumption of information shared in certain online communities. This includes information regarding the use of improvised explosive devices and small arms.
  • Violent extremists may use particular messaging platforms or techniques to obscure operational indicators that provide specific warning of a pending act of violence.
  • Law enforcement has expressed concerns that the broader sharing of false narratives and conspiracy theories will gain traction in mainstream environments, resulting in individuals or small groups embracing violent tactics to achieve their desired objectives. With a diverse array of threats, DHS is concerned that increased outbreaks of violence in some locations, as well as targeted attacks against law enforcement, may strain local resources.
  • Nation-state adversaries have increased efforts to sow discord. For example, Russian, Chinese and Iranian government-linked media outlets have repeatedly amplified conspiracy theories concerning the origins of COVID-19 and effectiveness of vaccines; in some cases, amplifying calls for violence targeting persons of Asian descent.

How We Are Responding

  • DHS will continue to identify and evaluate calls for violence, including online activity associated with the spread of disinformation, conspiracy theories, and false narratives, by known or suspected threat actors and provide updated information, as necessary.
  • DHS continues to encourage the public to maintain awareness of the evolving threat environment and report suspicious activity.
  • DHS is coordinating with state and local law enforcement and public safety partners to maintain situational awareness of potential violence in their jurisdictions and maintain open lines of communication with federal partners.
  • DHS is also advancing authoritative sources of information to debunk and, when possible, preempt false narratives and intentional disinformation, and providing educational materials to promote resilience to the risks associated with interacting with and spreading disinformation, conspiracy theories and false narratives.
  • More broadly, DHS remains committed to identifying and preventing terrorism and targeted violence while protecting the privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties of all persons.

How You Can Help

Be Prepared and Stay Informed

  • Be prepared for emergency situations and remain aware of circumstances that may place you at risk.
  • Maintain digital media literacy to recognize and build resilience to false and harmful narratives.
  • Make note of your surroundings and the nearest security personnel.
  • Government agencies will provide details about emerging threats as information is identified. The public is encouraged to listen to local authorities and public safety officials.

If You See Something, Say Something®. Report suspicious activity to local law enforcement or call 911.

Since New DHS Alert, You're a Potential Terrorist if You Oppose White House Lies

Has our nation sunk to a new low?

This article originally appeared here at The Western Journal.

On Sept. 17, 2021, our nation will celebrate the 234th anniversary of our beloved U.S. Constitution.

The fact that this document has lasted for such a period is a remarkable feat. Legal scholars have reviewed national constitutions that have been adopted since 1789 and concluded that they lasted an average of only 17 years.

But as I travel the country, Americans are asking me, “How much longer do we have before our constitutional protections are wiped away? How long before our nation descends into a real tyranny?” One friend went as far as saying, “If you criticize this administration, they call it hate speech; if you disagree with their actions, they call you a domestic terrorist.”

My friend wasn’t exaggerating, reading the most recent Department of Homeland Security issuance on Friday of a nationwide terrorism alert message titled “National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin.”

To be frank, I was stunned and found myself asking, have we, the United States of America, sunk to a new low? Although we are approaching the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks against our nation, this terrorism alert does not say one word about Muslim extremism being a threat and it barely mentions al-Qaida.

Rather, this terrorism bulletin focuses on the Bidens’ political opponents. Its sweeping rhetoric was so broad that it could put under suspicion more than half of all Americans. Is the Biden administration redefining domestic terrorism? Will having a pro-American set of beliefs and using the word “patriot” get you labeled a domestic terrorist?

The alert focuses on those who resist the Anthony Fauci COVID-19 narrative, stating that “threats are also exacerbated by impacts of the ongoing global pandemic, including grievances over public health safety measures and perceived government restrictions.” I wonder what “perceived” government restrictions they had in mind — aren’t the real restrictions damaging enough?

The alert also warns that “extremists may seek to exploit the emergence of COVID-19 variants by viewing the potential re-establishment of public health restrictions across the United States as a rationale to conduct attacks.” And it warns against “conspiracy theories concerning the origins of COVID-19 and effectiveness of vaccines.”

So if you are a small business owner who managed to survive the last set of shutdowns and is desperately trying to survive the next shutdown, you could be a terrorist. If you believe that vaccines are an irreversible threat to your health that must be avoided at all costs, as I do, you could be a terrorist.

The alert also warns that domestic violent extremists are motivated by “perceived election fraud.” Therefore, if you believe that the nation overwhelmingly elected Donald J. Trump as president of the United States in November 2020, as I do, you could be a terrorist.

Then finally the nation is warned, “Law enforcement has expressed concerns that the broader sharing of false narratives and conspiracy theories will gain traction in mainstream environments.”

So if you believe whatever narrative is being spun from the White House podium by Jen Psaki, you are automatically protected. If your tweets are never blocked, and your Facebook posts are never removed, you are a loyal American. But if you think the government is often lying and manipulating, you could be a terrorist.

The alert then promises that the government will tell us everything we need to know — by “advancing authoritative sources of information to debunk and, when possible, preempt false narratives and intentional disinformation, and providing educational materials to promote resilience to the risks associated with interacting with and spreading disinformation, conspiracy theories, and false narratives.

The last provision of the alert is so reassuring — that DHS would take action against Americans “while protecting the privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties of all persons.”

I’m sorry, but DHS leadership must take us all for complete idiots. The real threat appears to be from our own government and their misperceptions of what are very real and dangerous homeland threats we do truly face.

This alert reads like something out of the 1930s. You’re a potential terrorist if you oppose lies coming from the most leftist administration ever to occupy the White House. There is not a word about Antifa, or Black Lives Matter, or any of the leftist groups protected by the Biden White House while they conducted their reign of terror on American cities.

The alert had not one word about the study from Princeton University that violent BLM demonstrations (i.e. riots) occurred somewhere just under 220 locations all across the nation. These are the violent people who Kamala Harris worked to get out on bail through a nonprofit group. What a disgrace.

What can and should we learn from this alert? Much, I think. We can anticipate the next steps by the Biden-Harris administration in suppressing legitimate, constitutionally protected dissent.

This alert foreshadows more lockdowns — probably nationally. The government may be hoping to provoke the American people to actively resist illegal lockdowns, and then to characterize that resistance to tyranny as a clear and present danger — a threat to the very existence of government.

But even if there is no strong pushback to new sanctions, this administration is not above ensuring that there are incidents that it can use to justify grabbing even more power.

This would not be the first administration that used a “false flag” event to gain power.

Every American should know what “false flags” are, and when acts of violence are blamed on American patriots to gain new government powers, especially with this gang in charge of the government and the FBI, this should be the first explanation we look at. Consider the role of the FBI in the claimed effort to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

I had no illusions about who the Democrats put on their national ticket in 2020, but the Biden administration is proving itself to be so much worse than even I thought. We have survived ineffective presidents in U.S. history. This administration is acting recklessly — dangerously — both at home and abroad. And it is acting against our own people.

DHS claims there are calls for violence against officials, law enforcement, government, and religious buildings and people with opposing ideological views — but the bulletin casually admits it has no specific information about any of these threats of violence.

If you wonder about the timing, this bulletin came out the day after Mike Lindell’s cyber symposium in South Dakota ended. Such are the strategies of the rulers we’re now living under. God help us.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn served as national security advisor to President Donald Trump.

Trump: Afghanistan ‘Greatest Embarrassment in the History of Our Country’

Lamenting the results of President Joe Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan, former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night declared his "conditions-based agreement" with a Taliban co-founder had been both forceful and "understood."

"We had a very strong conversation," Trump told Fox News' "Hannity" of a conversation with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, a Taliban co-founder. "I told him upfront, I said, 'look, before we start, let me just tell you right now that if anything bad happens to Americans or anybody else — or if you ever come over to our land, we will hit you with a force that no country has ever been hit with before, a force so great that you won't even believe it, and your village — and we know where it is, and I named it — will be the first one.'"

Trump noted the Taliban's planned trip to Washington was canceled during his administration after an American was killed as a show of power in the country, but the Taliban co-founder had understood his warning.

"I asked him, 'do you understand?' And he said, 'I do understand,'" Trump told host Sean Hannity. "And I wanted them to get a deal done with the Afghan government."

Trump added fleeing former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani was a "crook" who had "gotten away with murder," and did not have Trump's confidence.

"I never had a lot of confidence in Ghani," Trump added. "I said that openly and plainly. I thought he was a crook and got away with murder. He spent all of this time wining and dining our senators. The senators were in his pocket.

"That was one of the problems that we had, but I never liked him."

Trump mentioned the corruption of the fleeing president having reportedly escaped with piles of cash, adding the Taliban was truly the leadership to negotiate with during his administration.

"He got away with murder in many different ways, but I had a very strong talk with the Taliban, which I consider to be much more important in a sense because they were the problem," Trump said. "And they had been there for a long time and are good fighters and they fight hard. And after I said that, we had a pretty good conversation."

Trump lamented the fall of Afghanistan under Biden's withdrawal without conditions.

"I don't think in all of the years our country has ever been so humiliated," Trump said, calling it the "greatest embarrassment in the history of our country." "I don't know if I would call it a military defeat or a psychological defeat; there has never been anything like what's happened here.

"This has been the most humiliating period of time that I've ever seen."

Trump added the Afghan military "was basically bribed to fight,'' saying the soldiers did it for money and not for their country before they permitted the Taliban to take over quickly.

Palestinians erect flaming Star of David with swastika inside, tell Israelis ‘we want to burn you alive’

Though many expressed shock and horror at this, the Palestinian-Nazi connection is historic, and the Nazi goal to rid the world of Jews remains alive among many Palestinians to this day. As Breaking Israel News reports:

Nazi ideology is consistent with the original charter of Hamas which called for the murder of every Jew on the planet. This message was reiterated earlier this month by Fathi Hammad, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council elected by the Palestinian people and a leader in Hamas, who called for all of the Palestinians around the world, his “brothers in the diaspora”, to rise up and kill Jews all over the world. “Oh, you seven million Palestinians abroad, enough warming up!” Hammad said in a speech at the riots. “There are Jews everywhere! We must attack every Jew on planet Earth – we must slaughter and kill them, with Allah’s help. Enough warming up!”

The swastika has flown in Gaza many times, and Hamas has sent out a message for Palestinians to stop using swastikas, so as to protect its image.

“Palestinians erect flaming swastika, Star of David near Evyatar outpost,” by Shahar Klaiman, JNS, August 15, 2021:

Palestinians erected a burning swastika and Star of David on Saturday night during riots in the village of Beita in Samaria, near the evacuated outpost of Evyatar.

The riots, which have included burning tires and the firing of fireworks, have been taking place every night for months, with the aim of intimidating and eventually causing the complete evacuation of Evyatar.

The outpost was illegally erected in April following the murder of Yehuda Guetta in a terrorist attack at the Tapuach Junction in Samaria. It was evacuated in June but will remain under the control of the Israel Defense Forces until the Civil Administration’s planning committee completes its survey of the land….

“‘We want to burn you alive. That is all we are working for’ – message from Palestinians who burned swastika/Star of David effigy to Israelis,” by Donna R. Edmunds, Palestinian Media Watch, August 16, 2021:

Israeli criticism of Palestinians in the town of Beita who burned an effigy of the Star of David with a Nazi swastika has prompted an outrageous response from the organizers: “You [Israelis] are worse than Hitler and the Nazis … Yes, we want to burn you alive.”

The shocking response came on Facebook page ‘Beita Victory’, which had posted the original pictures of the effigy being made and burned, along with flaming torches carried by supporters, including children.

While the response might seem surprising, it echoes directly the Palestinian Authority’s messages and education. When the PA honors and rewards Palestinian terrorist murderers, as Palestinian Media Watch has documented repeatedly, and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor tells viewers of official PA TV all the reasons Islam mandates fighting and killing Israelis, it should not be surprising that a Palestinian Facebook page promotes burning Jews alive.

The effigy that was burned, which equated Israel with Nazis, should not be surprising either.

So far this year Palestinian Media Watch has uncovered 16 separate instances of Palestinian official sources comparing Israel to a Nazi state, or accusing Israel of waging a Holocaust against the Palestinians. This amounts to libel against Israel and the Israeli people and is clear incitement to violence against innocent Israelis.

Among them was this cartoon of Benjamin Netanyahu depicted as Hitler:……

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- The devastating visuals of Taliban fighters sweeping through Afghanistan that led to the fall of the Afghan government and the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy revealed a disturbing reality. President Joe Biden was willing to leave billions of dollars’ worth of high-tech weapons in the hands of the Taliban but is determined to strip law-abiding U.S. citizens of their God-given right to keep and bear arms.

One media outlet described the Taliban seizure of U.S. weapons as the “motherlode.” The equipment was supplied by the United States to the Afghan National Army. That included mine-resistant vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Humvees. One report described the seizure of U.S.-supplied guns as enormous.” Taliban fighters are swapping worn AK-47s for U.S.-made M-4s and M-16s.

Another report detailed that containers full of small arms were seized, including one instance in which 900 guns were seized. Taliban commanders bragged to reporters they had new weapons that could be used on the battlefield.

Press photos circulated of Taliban forces carrying near-new M-4 rifles, topped with thermal imagers. This was just days before Taliban forces released Al Qaeda prisoners from their cells as they entered Kabul.

‘Nobody Needs That…’

These arms are all in the hands of the Taliban, and it must be assumed by Al Qaeda. There are already reports of Taliban fighters rounding up weapons from Afghans.

“We understand people kept weapons for personal safety. They can now feel safe. We are not here to harm innocent civilians,” a Taliban official told Reuters.

That’s eerily similar to the rhetoric President Biden has been telling the American public.

“There’s no reason someone needs a weapon of war with 100 rounds, 100 bullets, that can be fired from that weapon. Nobody needs that, nobody needs that,” President Biden said from the White House Rose Garden in April. He tweeted the same claim in February, throughout his presidential campaign and even going back to his term as vice president.

He later upped the ante mocking gun owners who said they need firearms as a check against a tyrannical government. President Biden said that they’d need jet fighters and made a thinly-veiled reference to using nuclear weapons against U.S. citizens.

President Biden nominated David Chipman to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Chipman also mocked gun buyers and would ban the Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR), which he refers to as an “assault rifle,” but couldn’t define it to senators. All the gun control cards are still yet to be played. President Biden might be eyeing more gun control bids and doing so on the international stage.

Global Gun Control

The Seventh Conference of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty will meet in Geneva at the end of the month. This is the same group that then-Secretary of State John Kerry signed onto a treaty in 2013 that would have made U.S. firearm manufacturing and American gun ownership subject to international oversight. The treaty was never ratified by the U.S. Senate.

President Donald Trump announced in 2019, “We’re taking our signature back.” That officially ended the U.S. involvement in the United Nations meddling in U.S. firearm manufacturing and gun rights of American citizens. NSSF praised the decision.

All eyes will be on the Biden administration and what moves will be made to subjugate God-given rights, protected by the Constitution, to international gun control. President Biden has made no secret of his intent to whittle away America’s gun rights. His respect for international arms control, though, is duplicitous. It stretches from the notorious and illegal Operation Fast and Furious gun-walking scheme while he was vice president. That operation sent untraced guns across the U.S-Mexico border that ended up in the hands of cartels and even used to murder Brian Terry, a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

It wasn’t the last time. The bungled Benghazi operation that happened under then-Vice President Biden’s watch that left four dead, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, was tied to illegal weapons trafficking. The Obama National Security Council refused a U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee investigation into the information of covert weapons trafficking to Libyan rebels. The Obama administration’s Department of Justice later dropped charges against an arms dealer for his part in the scheme. Now, he’s left billions in military weapons in the hands of known terrorists.

That’s the pattern for President Biden. He has overseen bungled operations that put guns into the hands of America’s enemies. Yet, he vilifies the firearm industry as the enemy.” This is the industry that provides law-abiding Americans the means to exercise their Second Amendment rights, the tools for law enforcement to keep communities safe, and the small arms for our military to protect America.

President Biden’s gun policies are making Americans vulnerable and emboldening America’s enemies.

Under International Pressure, Taliban Says It Will Grant ‘Amnesty’

The world was a much different place in 1995 when the Taliban first took control of Afghanistan. While there were concerns about the “conservative” brand of Islam practiced by the Taliban, few expected the nightmare that was about to be experienced by the Afghan people.

Today, it’s a different story. International opposition to some of the Taliban’s more severe practices is building. Of course, most of these nations didn’t lift a finger when the Taliban could have been stopped. But now that the Taliban is in charge, they can tune up their moral outrage and warn against some kind of frenzied religious-inspired bloodbath.

For the moment, that appears not to be the case. The Taliban has announced a general amnesty, probably to stop the inevitable brain drain of women and Western-supporting Afghans who fear Taliban reprisals.

Associated Press:

The promises of amnesty from Enamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission, were the first comments on how the Taliban might govern on a national level. His remarks remained vague, however, as the Taliban are still negotiating with political leaders of the country’s fallen government and no formal handover deal has been announced.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with full dignity and honesty has announced a complete amnesty for all Afghanistan, especially those who were with the opposition or supported the occupiers for years and recently,” he said.

Other Taliban leaders have said they won’t seek revenge on those who worked with the Afghan government or foreign countries. But some in Kabul allege Taliban fighters have lists of people who cooperated with the government and are seeking them out.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan doesn’t want the women to be the victims anymore,” Samangani said. “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is ready to provide women with an environment to work and study, and the presence of women in different (government) structures according to Islamic law and in accordance with our cultural values.”

That last phrase is the kicker. Just what does “according to Islamic law and in accordance with our cultural values” actually mean?

You can bet it doesn’t mean what the Taliban wants everyone to think it means. But the Europeans are wary about trusting any statements about amnesty or economic freedom for women from the Taliban.

Germany suspended development aid to Afghanistan, estimated at 250 million euros ($294 million) for 2021. The German news agency dpa described Afghanistan as the nation that received the most development aid from Berlin. Other funding separately goes to security services and humanitarian aid.

Swedish Development Aid Minister Per Olsson Fridh, meanwhile, said his government would slow down aid to the country in an interview with the Dagens Nyheter newspaper. But Britain committed to an increase.

Great Britain apparently doesn’t care if the Taliban starts beheading women or not.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said humanitarian aid could rise by 10%. He said the aid budget would be reconfigured for development and humanitarian purposes and that the Taliban would not get any money previously earmarked for security — but he said aid would not be conditioned on how the Taliban govern.

The Taliban’s soothing words have not slowed down the desperate rush to leave the country. Kabul airport is still jammed with people seeking a way out of Afghanistan. It’s likely to stay that way despite anything the Taliban says about “amnesty.”

DR. DAVID WOOD: THE TALIBAN ON TWITTER!

Twitter regularly bans Americans for being on the "wrong" side of various political and religious issues. Meanwhile, Taliban officials (such as Zabihullah Mujahid and Qari Yousaf Ahmadi) post their tweets with impunity. The Apostate Prophet and Congressman Dan Crenshaw have called out the double standards.

Why is the Twitter Trust and Safety Team prone to such hypocrisy? David Wood discusses the issue.

Devastated Female Afghan Reporter Weeps During Pentagon Briefing. John Kirby’s Response Was Yet Another Slap in the Face

A female Afghan reporter broke down in the Pentagon briefing Monday afternoon, lamenting the U.S. withdrawal from her home country and explaining what the consequences would be for girls and women.

“As you know, I’m from Afghanistan,” Nazira Karimi began, “and I’m very upset today because Afghan women didn’t expect that overnight all the Taliban came.”

“They took off my flag,” she exclaimed, pointing to her face mask emblazoned with the flag of Afghanistan, “and they put their flag” in its place.

“Everybody is upset, especially women,” Karimi explained.

“Where is my president? Former President Ghani?” she asked. “People expected that he would [unintelligible] and immediately he runs away. We don’t know where is he and we don’t have a president.”

She paraphrased President Biden’s explanation for the withdrawal from Afghanistan: “President Ghani knows that he has to fight for his people. They have to do everything and we were able to financially help them.”

“But we don’t have any president,” she cried. “We don’t have anything. Afghan people, don’t know what to do. Women [have had a] lot of achievement in Afghanistan, and I have a lot of achievement.”

“I left from the Taliban like 20 years ago,” she continued. Now the women in her country must “go back to the first step again.”

RelatedBiden’s Speech on Afghanistan Was Terrible, But This Part Made the Least Sense of All

“Heartfelt respect for what you’re going through,” replied Pentagon spokesman John Kirby. “Let me say, with all respect, that I understand, and we all understand the anxiety and the fear and the pain that you’re feeling.”

“Nobody here at the Pentagon is happy about the images that we’ve seen coming out in the last few days,” he added. “And we’re all mindful of the kind of governance that the Taliban is capable of. So, heartfelt respect for what you’re going through, and we understand that.”

It’s the official equivalent of a flippant “thoughts and prayers” remark. And that’s about all the women and girls of Afghanistan—who now face lives of uncertainty, oppression, fear, and enslavement—will get from the Biden administration.

Obama did all he could to make the swap seem noble: He said at the time that the recovery of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was “a reminder of America’s unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield,” and the five Taliban jihadis were sent to Qatar, where they would ostensibly be kept out of trouble. Seven years later, Bergdahl is known as a deserter, not a hero: In 2017, he pleaded guilty to desertion and was given a dishonorable discharge. And now Khairullah Khairkhwa, one of the jihadis Obama traded for Bergdahl, is among the Taliban leadership that just took Kabul.

Obama’s deal was fishy from the start. Bergdahl was known as a deserter even at the time the deal was made. Former infantry officer Nathan Bradley Bethea, who served with Bergdahl in Afghanistan, wrote in the Daily Beast that Bergdahl was “a deserter, and soldiers from his own unit died trying to track him down.” Refuting reports that Bergdahl got separated from his unit while on patrol, Bethea declared: “Make no mistake: Bergdahl did not ‘lag behind on a patrol,’ as was cited in news reports at the time. There was no patrol that night. Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and instead of going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. I’ve talked to members of Bergdahl’s platoon—including the last Americans to see him before his capture. I’ve reviewed the relevant documents. That’s what happened.”

Three days before he deserted, Bergdahl wrote to his parents: “I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools. I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”

Then there was the Taliban’s 2010 claim that Bergdahl had converted to Islam and was teaching bomb-making to its jihadists. Documents revealed in 2014 corroborate the claim. According to one of these documents, dated August 23, 2012, “Conditions for Bergdahl have greatly relaxed since the time of the escape. Bergdahl has converted to Islam and now describes himself as a mujahid. Bergdahl enjoys a modicum of freedom, and engages in target practice with the local mujahedeen, firing AK47s. Bergdahl is even allowed to carry a loaded gun on occasion. Bergdahl plays soccer with his guards and bounds around the pitch like a mad man. He appears to be well and happy, and has a noticeable habit of laughing frequently and saying ‘Salaam’ repeatedly.”

The Obama/Biden administration ignored all this, made the lopsided deal, and treated Bergdahl as a returning hero at a Rose Garden ceremony featuring the deserter’s parents.

Meanwhile, Obama’s own intelligence team warned him that four of the five jihadis he traded for Bergdahl were almost certain to return to the jihad. He ignored this. And so Khairullah Khairkhwa was free to join other Taliban representatives in Qatar in 2019, negotiating the terms of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. During those protracted, fruitless, and foredoomed negotiations, Khairkhwa declared in March 2021: “I started jihad to remove foreign forces from my country and establish an Islamic government, and jihad will continue until we reach that goal through a political agreement.” Or, as things turned out, until Old Joe Biden leaves Afghanistan without bothering to have his military, which was too preoccupied with making sure to enforce woke orthodoxy anyway, prepare a coherent exit strategy that would protect our personnel and get them and our weaponry out of the country safely.

The presence of Khairullah Khairkhwa among the Taliban leadership in Kabul is a vivid illustration of how disastrously wrongheaded, futile, and self-defeating the Left’s foreign policy really is. Jihadis will happily lie to Americans to get what they want, as Obama’s team happily accepted the assurances that the five jihadis freed from Guantanamo for Bergdahl would not return to the jihad. Those jihadis will not see gestures of goodwill as something to be reciprocated, but as signs of weakness in the enemy, a weakness that must be exploited. Now, as the Taliban consolidates its power within Afghanistan and begins to make good on its vow to export its jihad elsewhere, untold numbers of Americans and others will suffer for Obama’s determination to get the traitor Bergdahl back from the Taliban, and to show them what a grand fellow he was by freeing five of their commanders. But preventing the suffering of Americans never seems to have been a high priority for the Obama/Biden team of “experts.”

Biden Raises Afghan Troop Numbers to 7,000. 3X Number He Withdrew

Biden disastrously withdrew the military before pulling out the civilians.

His big withdrawal pulled out 1,900 troops of the 2,500 in the country. The Taliban quickly took over forcing an emergency evacuation and the latest reported numbers with the added forces that Biden has dispatched show that there are 7,000 American military personnel already on the ground or soon to be there.

That's more than 3 times the number of troops that Biden withdrew.

Except that now, American forces are operating in a dangerous and chaotic environment controlled by the Taliban.

Had Biden conducted a responsible withdrawal, American civilians would have been pulled out before the military. Instead, Biden and his radical incompetents wanted to celebrate a military withdrawal, and pulled out most military personnel, resulting in the collapse of Afghanistan which trapped many Americans in the country.

If the Taliban had been more aggressive, they would have countless foreign diplomats and reporters as hostages. Instead, the Taliban want to avoid giving Biden any reason to stay, so they've avoided any aggressive confrontations.

But this is a disaster and it makes a mockery of Biden's withdrawal.

Every 12 hours it seems as if another 1,000 troops are being dispatched to help cope with Biden's withdrawal.

‘I Am So Sick to My Stomach Right Now’: Retired Marine Reacts to ‘POS’ Joe Biden’s Disastrous Bugout From Afghanistan

KandaharKabulMazar-e-Sharif, the presidential palace, Bagram Air Base–all fell within hours of President Joe Biden’s order to bug out of Afghanistan posthaste. Another “last helicopter” lifting away from an American embassy in a sign of defeat.

Just last month, President Biden swore that this was a scene that would never occur.

He infamously claimed that pulling out of Afghanistan would never be like that scene in Saigon in 1975.

“The Taliban is not the North Vietnamese army. They’re not remotely comparable in terms of capability. There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of the embassy of the United States from Afghanistan.”

The American flag was lowered at the embassy in Kabul and handed to the chargé d’affaires who ran to the airport. Another artifact destined for a museum of American military bugouts.

Nobody blames the military. They’re trained to win and follow orders.

But, like Saigon, by leaving Baghdad in the first Gulf War, Kabul, and now the city-sized Bagram Air Base, the politicians screwed it up again.

And it makes one retired U.S. Marine sick to his stomach.

Captain Mike Rosen, USMC, Retired, joined the military right after the U.S. Marine barracks truck bomb attack in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983. He was barely out of high school. The Hezbollah bomb blast killed 241 troops, mostly sailors and Marines. It made the young recruit sick to his stomach then, too.

Four months after the truck bomb attack, President Ronald Reagan bugged out of Beirut, leaving behind a small contingent at the embassy.

Captain Rosen served in combat in Iraq. He was part of the Second Battle of Fallujah, Operation Phantom Fury, and worked logistics. He’d been up for the rank of major. He was wounded by an IED attack while in a Humvee in the sandbox.

After returning stateside, Rosen began work out of a local base in what might be the toughest assignment of his professional life as a Marine. As part of the Marine Corps Casualty Assistance Program, it was his job to break the news to spouses and families when their loved ones died while serving overseas.

He texted me after hearing about Biden’s bugout in Afghanistan. He’s given me permission to share his messages.  Names have been removed to save these families the pain of reliving their loved ones’ sacrifice – especially in light of in the ignominy of this moment.

I am so sick to my stomach right now.

Another humiliating evacuation from an embassy to close out a war.

This administration makes me fucking sick.  Embarrassing as hell.

The death notifications I did for AFG KIAs, Linsey *******, married for two months to her husband Will, when he was killed on Thanksgiving Day 2010.

Josh *****, KIA in AFG June 2010, notified his wife when she was 7 months pregnant.

My best friend Durand ****** lost his leg, destroyed his face, sense of smell and taste from an IED.

Fucking piece of shit Biden.

I shared that I believe we should have deployed Special Forces to continue the job Mike Spann and CIA paramilitary guys started: leaving a small footprint to hunt bin Laden. We should have left a security force, I told him, retained control of Bagram, and put this 7th Century hellhole on the list of rotations for a limited number of U.S. troops like we do in Germany and Japan. And for God’s sake, cut out the nation building.

100% agree.  Biden and his liberal POSs have taken everything we have fought for and literally pissed on us.  Fuck him.

Some Afghan interpreters who spent the last 20 years helping American soldiers have been saved; for others it was too late to save them. One who talked to Military.com sounded like Rosen.

“I can’t even talk right now,” the interpreter, who asked to be identified only as Said, said in an interview Sunday. “I’m just about to cry, because we lost everything.”

What the hell must Marcus Luttrell be thinking right now?

Joe Biden pulled the plug on Afghanistan, keeping intact his record of more than 40 years of bad decisions, as Robert Gates accurately declared.

Donald Trump wanted to get out, as did Barack Obama before him. Trump lost his defense secretary, James Mattis, over his attempt to remove American troops from Syria.

No general has quit over this foreseeable debacle.

In 27 days, on September 11, there will be much rejoicing over the complete collapse of the U.S. efforts to bring stability to Afghanistan.

It should never have been thus.

China learns lesson of Afghanistan: In a war, Taiwan would collapse in hours, US military won’t help

No lessons will be learned in Washington from the debacle in Afghanistan. But they’re being learned in Beijing. The lesson learned is that if a bunch of jihadis can humiliate the U.S., so can China, and so Taiwan is imperiled.

“Afghanistan situation a lesson for Taiwan authorities: Global Times editorial,” Global Times, August 16, 2021:

The US troops’ withdrawal from Afghanistan has led to the rapid demise of the Kabul government. The world has witnessed how the US evacuated its diplomats by helicopter while Taliban soldiers crowded into the presidential palace in Kabul. This has dealt a heavy blow to the credibility and reliability of the US….

How Washington abandoned the Kabul regime particularly shocked some in Asia, including the island of Taiwan. Taiwan is the region that relies on the protection of the US the most in Asia, and the island’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have made Taiwan go further and further down this abnormal path. The situation in Afghanistan suddenly saw a radical change after the country was abandoned by the US. And Washington just left despite the worsening situation in Kabul. Is this some kind of omen of Taiwan’s future fate?…

The DPP authorities need to keep a sober head, and the secessionist forces should reserve the ability to wake up from their dreams. From what happened in Afghanistan, they should perceive that once a war breaks out in the Straits, the island’s defense will collapse in hours and the US military won’t come to help. As a result, the DPP authorities will quickly surrender, while some high-level officials may flee by plane. …

From what happened in Afghanistan, they should perceive that once a war breaks out in the Straits, the island’s defense will collapse in hours and the US military won’t come to help.”"

Now that the Taliban have defeated the U.S. puppet government in Afghanistan, President Biden is about to compound the error of President George W. Bush — who began the ill-fated adventure in the graveyard of empires — with two more.

First, Biden plans to import 30,000 Afghans and put them on military bases in Texas and Wisconsin. From there, of course, they’ll fan out into the heartland. But that’s not the worst of it. He will not prioritize the evacuation of remaining Americans.

So yet another predictable U.S. foreign policy debacle leads to what could become a major problem: the importation of Islamic refugees who, if they don’t become radicalized and learn to hate the country, might have children who do.

What acts of “homegrown” terror will happen one can only imagine.

Move Aside, Americans

Breitbart’s headline called the policy for what it is: “America Last.”

That’s been Biden’s immigration policy in permitting an invasion that will overwhelm Americans at home; why not extend it to Americans serving their country abroad?

Fox News’s Jacqui Heinrich reported the development yesterday after the Taliban took Kabul, the capital.

“The Department of Defense is preparing to immediately house thousands of Afghan refugees on American military installations,” Heinrich reported:

Documents obtained by Fox News show DoD plans to potentially relocate up to 30,000 Afghan SIV applicants into the United States in the immediate future.

“The situation in Afghanistan may lead to DoS [Department of State] allowing Afghan SIV applicants to be moved to temporary housing locations while still being vetted for parolee status” the document reads.

The bases include Fort McCoy in Wisconsin and Fort Bliss in Texas.

Special Immigrant Visas are for foreigners who work for the United States government.

You’d think Texans would have their hands full with Latin American “refugees,” but in any event, Biden’s Pentagon is preparing to import enough Afghans to fill Helena, Montana.

”We want to have the capacity to get up to several thousand immediately, and want to be prepared for the potential of tens of thousands,” Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby told Heinrich. “Bliss and McCoy have the capability right now — and what’s advantageous is with a little bit of work, they could increase their capacity in very short order.”

Biden had said, “the law doesn’t allow that to happen.”

America Last

Bringing in what could be thousands of trouble-makers, or perhaps, hundreds of sleeper terrorists, is bad enough. But Biden plans to ensure they get here before Americans do, Heinrich reported.

“Once we get more airlift out of Kabul, we’re going to put as many people on those planes as we can. There will be a mix, not just American citizens, but perhaps some Afghan SIV applicants as well,” the Pentagon’s Kirby said. “We’re going to focus on getting people out of the country, then sorting it out at the next stop. It’s not going to be just Americans first, then SIV applicants. We’re going to focus on getting as many folks out as we can.”

The incoming horde of tribal Muslims will enter the country not only under Special Immigrant Visas reserved for Afghans who worked for the United States but also P visas reserved for athletes and entertainers, Heinrich reported:

The State Department will determine who is sent forward — the job of the military is to find facilities and infrastructure for refugees to sleep and receive food and medical care during processing. The Pentagon is working closely with the State Department to find overseas and possibly domestic processing locations for additional Afghan refugees who do not qualify for SIV status, falling instead under P-2 and P-1 visas.

The victorious Taliban rolled into Kabul yesterday as the Afghan regime fled the country.

Biden announced in July that he would bring the troops home from Afghanistan by August 31, just a few months after the date his predecessor set.

Afghan people climb atop a plane as they wait at the Kabul airport

Joe Biden is addressing the American public over the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, after at least seven people were killed at Kabul's airport amid desperate scenes as thousands tried to force their way onto flights and avoid being left in the hands of the Taliban. Crowds mobbed the tarmac at Hamid Karzai International, scaling walls and gantries as they tried to fight their way onto aircraft. As lumbering military aircraft taxied for take-off to ferry international diplomats to safety, hundreds of young men ran alongside and climbed on the moving planes.

Hijab-Clad CNN Reporter Praises ‘Friendly’ Taliban Chanting ‘Death to America’

In an unbelievable clip only CNN could pull off, a reporter wearing a hijab in Afghanistan praised the Taliban for being “friendly” while chanting “death to America.”

CNN’s chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward, clad in a hijab, mingled with the Taliban during their takeover of Afghanistan in the signature anti-American style CNN is now known for.

“They’re just chanting ‘Death to America,’ but they seem friendly at the same time,” Ward told the audience Monday. “It’s utterly bizarre.”

Yes, yes it is.

Ward had been reporting from Afghanistan over the last few days covering the deteriorating situation in Kabul as the Biden admin abandoned the embassy.

The Taliban “just told me to stand aside because I’m a woman,” Ward told the camera.

The Babylon Bee, a satire news outlet, once again basically prophesied CNN’s groveling behavior towards the Taliban with the recent headline, “CNN Praises Taliban For Wearing Masks During Attack.”

President Trump Calls For Biden To Resign In Scathing Comments

Feds declare anti-vaxxers are “terrorists,” unveil 90-day plan to wage false flag violence and blame it on “anti-lockdown extremists”

BY MIKE ADAMS

SEE: https://www.naturalnews.com/2021-08-15-feds-unveil-90-day-plan-to-wage-false-flag-violence-blame-on-anti-lockdown-extremists.html;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

(Natural News) Just as we repeatedly warned would happen, the corrupt, criminally-run federal government has just declared war against the American people. In a widely-circulated Homeland Security warning, the federal government declared that anyone who opposes vaccines, masks, social distancing or lockdowns poses a “potential terror threat” to society at large. Dubbed a “National Terrorism Alert” by CIA-run NBC News, the warning also insists that anyone who thinks there was fraud in the 2020 election might also be a terrorist.

Never mind the fact that Democrats and the left-wing media spent the last four years decrying total fraud during the 2016 election, claiming “the Russians” stole the election. Back then, such declarations were declared to be patriot… but today, they’re considered terrorism.

According to the criminally-run government that has deployed biological weapons against its own people, it’s not “extreme” to demand mass injections with experimental, deadly spike protein bioweapons shots, but it’s totally extreme to resist being suicided via vaccine. The memo even warns that new lockdowns and restrictions are coming, and anyone who opposes them is a terrorist by default:

These extremists may seek to exploit the emergence of COVID-19 variants by viewing the potential re-establishment of public health restrictions across the United States as a rationale to conduct attacks.  Pandemic-related stressors have contributed to increased societal strains and tensions, driving several plots by domestic violent extremists, and they may contribute to more violence this year.

DHS warning is really a blueprint for a coming false flag violent attack to be waged by the deep state and blamed on the unvaccinated

This “national terrorism alert” from DHS is really just an admission that the deep state plans to launch false flag attacks in America and blame the unvaccinated. No doubt the FBI is rapidly recruiting crisis actors to firebomb a hospital (or some such thing) while CNN’s cameras capture the staged action and broadcast their propaganda around the world. The actors throwing the Molotov cocktails will, of course, all be on the FBI payroll and dressed in MAGA gear in order to demonize Trump supporters at the same time.

The purpose of the DHS warning is to set the narrative in advance of their own event, and we should carefully note they’ve given themselves almost 90 days (until Nov. 11th) to pull this off.

Astonishingly, this announcement by DHS that half of Americans are suddenly terrorists is nothing less than a declaration of war against the American people. This illegitimate government — which only stole power by rigging the 2020 election — now sees the people it claims to represent as enemy combatants to be targeted and destroyed.

While the American people are being demonized and targeted, the U.S. southern border remains wide open (on purpose) so that the nation can be flooded with millions of illegal aliens who will replace the soon-to-be-dead Democrat voters who have lined up to commit vaccine suicide. As obedient, brain-dead Democrats die from Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, they will be replaced by a wave of illegals who will be handed voting rights in order to try to keep Democrats in power.

The deep state plans to use their upcoming false flag event as a way to criminalize all anti-vaccine speech and declare a medical/military dictatorship in America, with troops running highway checkpoints that demand to see your vaccine papers any time you cross a state boundary. Should you fail to present the proper vaccine papers, they will arrest you at gunpoint and haul you off to one of the CDC-run covid death camps that have already been publicly announced by the CDC, which insists these death camps will meet “minimum humanitarian standards.”

We advise all Americans to take the following precautions during any public protests:

  1. Remain peaceful in your protests. Do not allow yourself to be emotionally manipulated into doing crazy things. Understand that the deep state is trying to provoke an armed response. Don’t take the bait.
  2. Leave your weapons at home. Any weapons you bring to a protest will be used to incarcerate you as a “terrorist” once they stage the attack and blame you for carrying it out.
  3. Do not trespass onto private property, and specifically watch out for provocateurs trying to get a crowd of angry people to attack a hospital, clinic or some similar establishment. The FBI has likely already staged dead bodies inside the hospital (dressed as doctors and nurses) and anyone caught trespassing will be charged with acts of terrorism and murder.
  4. Video record everything. Wear a recorder and keep it running at all times. If a false flag event takes place and you have a video recording, understand that the complicit FBI will immediately move to confiscate all video recording devices so they can cover up their crimes (just like they did with the 9/11 videos of the missile strike on the Pentagon). If possible, secure your micro SD cards in a safe place on your body. The FBI is unlikely to strip search citizens and will likely focus on confiscation of mobile devices.

Get full details in this emergency alert message that exposes the coming false flag “terrorist” attack in America, being waged by the deep state itself:

Bruce Thornton is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center.

The Biden administration’s feckless withdrawal from Afghanistan is sending the worst possible message to our enemies across the world. Our rivals are already convinced of our lack of morale and our fear of the consequences from a response serious enough to concentrate their minds. Twenty years after 9/11, and we still haven’t figured out the nature and aims of those who for decades have in word and bloody deed told us we are an enemy they want to destroy.

Instead, we cling to our shopworn belief that “diplomatic engagement” can deter and stop a fanatic enemy, hoping words can substitute for deeds. But all we’ll achieve is further damage to our already fraying national prestige.

The plans to withdraw the last of our forces began during the Trump administration, which thought it could negotiate in good faith with a foe that has already demonstrated that agreements and covenants are mere “tactical adjuncts,” as Robert Conquest said of the Soviets, to their actual strategic intentions to be realized with violence. Here’s failed lesson number one: “diplomatic engagement” works only when those sitting across the table truly believe that if they violate the terms, as the Taliban have done with the Trump agreement, they will suffer serious consequences.

But in just six months Biden has shown that his team has no interest in any response other than timid diplo-speak and maybe some showy cruise-missile fireworks. His cringing solicitude for the Iranians and obvious desperation to rewrite the nuclear deal––signaled by his removal of some sanctions without any reciprocal concessions––have made it clear throughout the region that he, like his boss Barack Obama, can be had. No one in the Khamenei cartel or among the Taliban fears or respects this administration or our power.

Why should they? Biden announced a date-certain withdrawal without any conditions, the same error Obama made when he skedaddled from Iraq in 2011. Worse, Biden abandoned our military bases and withdrew the in-country air support that gave the government in Kabul a fighting chance against the Taliban. Pocketing these gifts, the Taliban started their march through the country two weeks later, and since then have been rolling up region after region and city after city. According to the Pentagon, they could be in Kabul in a month. (In fact, on Sunday Taliban fighters were seen in Kabul, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani fled the country, and the Afghan National Reconciliation Council was left to negotiate the transfer of power to the Taliban.)

Biden’s response is to send back 3000 troops to evacuate the embassy and Afghan employees and protect the retreat from Kabul. Those old enough to remember will recall our ignominious abandonment of Saigon in 1975, and the iconic photographs of desperate Vietnamese hanging from U.S. helicopter skids. The troops will be based at the Kabul airport, another ominous sign. Our peace-keeping forces sent to Beirut in 1983 were housed in barracks at the Beirut airport. Jihadists trained and supported by Iran blew up 241 soldiers, mostly Marines. For reasons still murky, the Reagan administration did not retaliate by bombing the Iranian-sponsored terrorist camps in the Beqaa Valley, as the French and Israelis did. After a few months the remaining Marines were evacuated.

So what will happen if our soldiers are attacked by Taliban fighters or terrorist bombers? What are their rules of engagement? How far will Biden go to punish any deaths of our fellow citizens? Or will he cower before the charges of “escalation” and “quagmires” and “endless wars,” and high-tail it out of there?

Whatever the response, it had better be more serious than the pathetic warning from diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad, who threatened the Taliban with––wait for it––damage to their “international reputation” and a loss of foreign aid. Or White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s similar advice to the Taliban “to make an assessment about what they want their role to be in the international community.” Or the State Department telling the jihadis they’d better leave the U.S. embassy alone or risk future U.S. foreign aid.

After 30 years of jihadist mayhem, what makes us think that aspiring martyrs to Allah give a damn about international opinion or foreign aid from the West? Especially since China will probably step in, as it has in Iran, with plenty of funds to supplement the Taliban’s profitable heroin and meth trade, which will no doubt expand more once the Yanks are gone. Or does anyone think our peer rivals like Russia and China will respond to our embarrassing diplomatic pleading that they intercede with the Taliban? Such scenarios bring to mind Richard Nixon’s fear that the U.S. would become a “pitiful, helpless giant” if it failed to retaliate against aggression.

But let’s be clear about how we ended up in this mess. The successful punitive war against the Taliban for harboring the 9/11 terrorists was changed into a nation-building, democracy-promoting project. A tribal, traditional Islamic culture in which Allah’s will and divine precepts are alien to Western notions of nationhood, secular participatory government, and human rights, was going to be transformed into a liberal democracy and embrace its alien notions of confessional tolerance and equal rights for women.

The George W. Bush administration and other idealists, however, ignored the tenacious reality of human cultural diversity, the complex variety of cultures, mores, faiths, and customs that make peoples what they are and give their lives meaning and purpose. Instead, to the idealists they are proto-Westerners, who just need guidance from the enlightened West to help them discard or reform their illiberal traditions, religious beliefs, and customary structures of governance.

No doubt many Afghans welcomed these attempts, especially women. But after 20 years of Taliban persistence and success, and given the alacrity with which Afghan military forces are melting away, suggest that a critical mass, some of whom may want to be rid of the Taliban, still do not want such alien tutelage or improvements that threaten their way of life and most cherished beliefs. Remember that the Afghan constitution we midwifed in 2004 made sharia––and its illiberal practices such as killing apostates––the foundation of the new nation’s laws.

Moreover, as the history of empires shows, such a radical transformation of a people cannot happen without a long occupation enforced by ruthless punishment of resistors. That’s how the Gauls became Romans, and the numerous peoples and tribes in Southern Asia were transformed into the democratic nation of India by the British. Also, our specious notions of cultural relativism, that no culture or custom can be deemed better or worse than another, militates against the sort of profound changes that idealistic nation-building requires. Liberal democracy demands that anything contradicting its fundamental notions––unalienable rights, equality before the law, tolerance of minorities, separation of church and state, and political freedom–– must be discarded, by force if necessary. And that requires that the occupier believes his way of life is not just different, not just better, but the best one possible.

Obviously, such a project cuts against the grain of America’s anti-imperialist character, and its strong inclinations against foreign policy as missionary work. And the triumph of cultural relativism, Balkanizing identity-politics, and fashionable self-loathing makes it impossible.

Finally, no matter what we may think about the war in Afghanistan, at this point our prestige is on the line. Again, the arrogant behavior of Iran since Biden proclaimed he wants to renegotiate the terms of the nuclear deal is a prime example of what follows from damaged prestige. Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the bad deal, his imposition of punitive sanctions, and his killing of Qassem Soleimani had rocked Iran back on its heels. Their economy was deteriorating, their people more emboldened to challenge the regime. Then came the Biden administration, and the mullahs were heartened by the return of the cringing Uncle Sam that over 40 years they had become used to serially gaming with meaningless agreements festooned with photo-ops.

What, then, is the alternative to ignominious retreat? Toby Harnden, author of the forthcoming First Casualty, about the CIA’s successful mission in neutralizing the Taliban and ejecting al Qaeda, suggests returning to that approach, which didn’t require an insulting full-scale invasion of alien occupiers:

Rather than abandoning Afghanistan and those who fought with the U.S. in 2001, the Biden administration should recommit to the principles that delivered initial victory—essentially, Churchill’s middle course [“of gradual advance, of political intrigue among the tribes, of subsidies and small expeditions”]. A small residual force of CIA officers and special forces, using U.S. air power when needed, while letting the Afghans fight would prevent a Taliban rout.

In other words, don’t try to profoundly transform, at the point of a gun, a proud, ancient people with a storied martial tradition and reputation for fierce independence, but give them support when their interests coincide with our own.

But running away will further damage our prestige, not to mention immiserating the Afghan people. In the 90s Osama bin Laden’s sermons to his recruits highlighted our retreat from Saigon, from Beirut, from Mogadishu as proof that we were a “weak horse” whose military and economic power were pointless without moral certainty and national self-confidence. The terrorist attacks on 9/11 followed. It shouldn’t take a nuclear-armed Iran and a more aggressive China to teach us that lesson again.

Taliban seizes $6,000,000 US Blackhawk helicopters

All of this was preventable, but the U.S. military was too busy making sure all its troops were woke and reliably Leftist.

“Air Taliban: Fighters seize $6million US Blackhawk helicopters alongside tons of American equipment – while taking to the skies in captured Russian choppers as advance approaches outskirts of Kabul,” by Tom Pyman, MailOnline, August 14, 2021:

Taliban fighters today seized $6million US Blackhawk helicopters alongside tons of American equipment as they took to the skies in captured Russian choppers amid their advance through Afghanistan.

A series of videos being shared on social media show insurgents flying the Kremlin-made mi-17 aircraft around the city of Kandahar, with concerns continuing to grow over the militants’ ongoing grab for power.

Even more seismic, however, is the evidence that the Taliban have also seized American-made Blackhawk helicopters, made famous in the 2001 Ridley Scott blockbuster.

The Afghan government pilots who fly the operational Russian helicopters have been turned to the Taliban, while the US helicopters are likely to be grounded by a lack of spare parts from the United States.

The White House has spent billions of dollars on supplying the Afghan military with the necessary weapons and equipment to wipe out the Taliban, but following the collapse of local armed forces, their investment is now effectively being used by the insurgents themselves as they bid to control more and more major cities.

Social media in recent days has been awash with clips of fighters seizing weapons caches, but the taking of such high profile helicopters represents a significant statement of intent.

Fighters were today seen posing on the back of a vehicle in the city of Herat, west of Kabul, after they took the province from Afghan government. The Taliban also seized two more provinces and approached the outskirts of the capital.

It comes as Afghanistan’s fourth largest city, Mazar-e-Sharif, fell to the Taliban today after a multipronged assault launched by insurgents.

Balkh lawmaker Abas Ebrahimzada said the province’s national army corps surrendered first, which prompted the pro-government militias and other forces to lose morale and give up in the face of the onslaught.

According to the lawmaker, all of the provincial installations, including the governor’s office, are in Taliban hands.

The insurgents have captured much of northern, western and southern Afghanistan in a breakneck offensive less than three weeks before the US is set to withdraw its last troops, raising fears of a full militant takeover or another Afghan civil war.

The Taliban have made major advances in recent days, including capturing Herat and Kandahar, the country’s second- and third-largest cities.

They now control about 24 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, leaving the Western-backed government with a smattering of provinces in the centre and east, as well as Kabul….

Taliban pick up US weaponry left for Afghan military, worth billions of dollars

Eminently preventable, but our military was too concerned with being woke to make adequate preparations.

“Taliban pick up billions’ worth of US weapons left for Afghan military,” AFP, August 14, 2021:

KABUL: The US spent billions supplying the Afghan military with the tools to defeat the Taliban, but the rapid capitulation of the armed forces means that weaponry is now fuelling the insurgents’ astonishing battlefield successes.

“We provided our Afghan partners with all the tools — let me emphasise: all the tools,” US President Joe Biden said when defending his decision to withdraw American forces and leave the fight to the locals.

But Afghan defence forces have shown little appetite for that fight and, in their tens of thousands, have been laying down their arms — only for the Taliban to immediately pick them up.

The Taliban’s social media is awash with videos of Taliban fighters seizing weapons caches — the majority supplied by Western powers.

Footage of Afghan soldiers surrendering in the northern city of Kunduz shows army vehicles loaded with heavy weapons and mounted with artillery guns safely in the hands of the insurgent rank and file.

In the western city of Farah, fighters patrolled in a car marked with an eagle swooping on a snake — the official insignia of the country’s intelligence service.

While US forces took the “sophisticated” equipment with them when they withdrew, the Taliban blitz has handed the group “vehicles, humvees, small arms and light weapons, as well as ammunition”, Justine Fleischner of weapons-tracking group Conflict Armament Research, told AFP….

Trump: Biden Losing Afghanistan ‘Through Weakness, Incompetence, and Total Strategic Incoherence’

Biden Promises No Airlift Evacuations in Afghanistan - July 8, 2021

"Under no circumstances will you see people evacuated from the roof of the American embassy in Afghanistan."

As Afghanistan veered on the brink of collapse Sunday, former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden for abandoning "the plan our Administration left for him — a plan that protected our people and our property, and ensured the Taliban would never dream of taking our Embassy or providing a base for new attacks against America."

"The plan would be guided by facts on the ground," Trump stressed as Biden blamed him for striking a peace deal with the Taliban in 2020 that Biden said Saturday had tied his hands.

"One more year, or five more years, of U.S. military presence, would not have made a difference if the Afghan military cannot or will not hold its own country," Biden said in a White House statement. "An endless American presence in the middle of another country's civil conflict was not acceptable to me."

He then blamed Trump for cutting a deal with the Taliban that he said left them "in the strongest position militarily since 2001," pulling 2,500 troops before he left office and imposing a May 1, 2021 deadline for withdrawing U.S. forces.

"When I became President, I faced a choice—follow through on the deal, with a brief extension to get our Forces and our allies' Forces out safely, or ramp up our presence and send more American troops to fight once again in another country's civil conflict," Biden said in the statement.

But Trump was having none of that.

"Joe Biden gets it wrong every time on foreign policy and many other issues. Everyone knew he couldn’t handle the pressure. Even Obama’s Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, said as much...," Trump said in one of his "Save America" statements.

"After I took out ISIS, I established a credible deterrent," Trump said in a statement released late Saturday. "That deterrent is now gone. The Taliban no longer has fear or respect for America or America’s power. What a disgrace it will be when the Taliban raises their flag over America’s Embassy in Kabul. This is a complete failure through weakness, incompetence, and total strategic incoherence."

Afghanistan’s embattled president left the country Sunday, joining his fellow citizens and foreigners in a stampede fleeing the advancing Taliban and signaling the end of a 20-year Western experiment aimed at remaking Afghanistan.

The Taliban, who for hours had been on the outskirts of Kabul, announced soon after they would move further into a city gripped by panic where helicopters raced overhead throughout the day to evacuate personnel from the U.S. Embassy. Smoke rose near the compound as staff destroyed important documents. Several other Western missions also prepared to pull their people out.

Civilians fearing that the Taliban could reimpose the kind of brutal rule that all but eliminated women’s rights rushed to leave the country as well, lining up at cash machines to withdraw their life savings. The desperately poor — who had left homes in the countryside for the presumed safety of the capital — remained in their thousands in parks and open spaces throughout the city.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken rejected comparisons to the U.S. pullout from Vietnam, as many watched in disbelief at the sight of helicopters landing in the embassy compound.

President Ashraf Ghani flew out of the country, two officials told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to brief journalists. Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the Afghan National Reconciliation Council, later confirmed that Ghani had left.

“The former president of Afghanistan left Afghanistan, leaving the country in this difficult situation," Abdullah said. "God should hold him accountable.”

In a stunning rout, the Taliban seized nearly all of Afghanistan in just over a week, despite the billions of dollars spent by the U.S. and NATO over nearly two decades to build up Afghan security forces. Just days earlier, an American military assessment estimated it would be a month before the capital would come under insurgent pressure.

Instead, the Taliban swiftly defeated, co-opted, or sent Afghan security forces fleeing from wide swaths of the country, even though they had some air support from the U.S. military. But a peace deal with the U.S. limited direct military action targeting them, allowing them to prepare and move quickly to seize key areas when President Joe Biden announced his plans to withdraw all American forces by the end of this month.

Many quickly drew comparisons between the fall of Kabul — helicopters rumbling overhead evacuating American diplomats — to the aftermath of the Vietnam War, which saw even more chaotic airborne rescues. Pressed on CNN about it, Blinken said: “This is not Saigon.” However, he acknowledged the “hollowness” of the Afghan security forces.

“From the perspective of our strategic competitors around the world, there’s nothing they would like more than see us in Afghanistan for another five, 10, 20 years,” he said. “It’s simply not in the national interest.”

On Sunday, the insurgents entered the outskirts of Kabul but initially remained outside of the city's downtown. Meanwhile, Taliban negotiators in Kabul discussed the transfer of power, said an Afghan official who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. It remained unclear when that transfer would take place and who among the Taliban was negotiating.

The negotiators on the government side included former President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah, who have been vocal critics of Ghani.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the closed-door negotiations, described them as “tense.” Karzai himself appeared in a video posted online, his three young daughters around him, saying he remained in Kabul.

“We are trying to solve the issue of Afghanistan with the Taliban leadership peacefully,” he said, while the roar of a passing helicopter could be heard overhead.

Afghanistan’s acting defense minister, Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, didn’t hold back his criticism of the fleeing president.

“They tied our hands from behind and sold the country,” he wrote on Twitter. “Curse Ghani and his gang.”

The insurgents tried to calm residents of the capital, insisting their fighters wouldn’t enter people’s homes or interfere with businesses. They also said they’d offer an “amnesty” to those who worked with the Afghan government or foreign forces.

“No one’s life, property, and dignity will be harmed and the lives of the citizens of Kabul will not be at risk,” the insurgents said in a statement.

But there have been reports of revenge killings and other brutal tactics in areas of the country the Taliban have seized in recent days.

And on Sunday, panic set in as many rushed to leave the country through the Kabul airport, the last route out of the country as the Taliban now hold every border crossing. NATO said it was “helping to maintain operations at Kabul airport to keep Afghanistan connected with the world.”

One Afghan university student described feeling betrayed as she watched the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy.

“You failed the younger generation of Afghanistan,” said Aisha Khurram, 22, who is now unsure of whether she’ll be able to graduate in two months' time. “A generation ... raised in modern Afghanistan was hoping to build the country with their own hands. They put blood, efforts, and sweat into whatever we had right now."

The U.S. decided a few days ago to send in thousands of troops to help evacuate some personnel, and two officials said Sunday that American diplomats were being moved from the embassy to the airport. Military helicopters shuttled between the embassy compound and the airport, where a core presence will remain for as long as possible given security conditions.

The officials were not authorized to discuss diplomatic movements and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The flights began a few hours after the Taliban seized the nearby city of Jalalabad — which had been the last major city besides the capital not in their hands.

Meanwhile, wisps of smoke could be seen near the embassy's roof as diplomats urgently destroyed sensitive documents, according to two American military officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the situation. The smoke grew heavier over time in the area, home to other nation's embassies as well.

Afghan officials said the militants also took the capitals of Maidan Wardak, Khost, Kapisa, and Parwan provinces on Sunday.

The insurgents also seized the land border at Torkham, the last not in their control, on Sunday. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told local broadcaster Geo TV that Pakistan halted cross-border traffic there after the militants seized it.

Later, Afghan forces at Bagram airbase, home to a prison housing 5,000 inmates, surrendered to the Taliban, according to Bagram district chief Darwaish Raufi. The prison at the former U.S. base held both Taliban and Islamic State group fighters.

Austria: Funeral of 13-year-old raped and murdered by Muslim migrants gets police protection as family gets threats

Two other piquant items in the report below: “The suspects are refugees from Afghanistan whose asylum applications were rejected. They have been convicted several times for drugs and assault. But they were not deported.”

Why not? Would it have been “Islamophobic” to do so?

Also, Leonie’s older sister was previously beaten up by Muslim migrants.

This is Austria under multiculturalism.

“Chancellor Kurz promises Leonie’s family police protection,” translated from “Kanzler Kurz verspricht Leonies Familie Polizeischutz,” Bild, August 8, 2021 (thanks to Medforth):

Pain, sadness and anger at the killer: around six weeks after the brutal rape of 13-year-old Leonie in Vienna, her family tries to come to terms with the shock of the girl’s gruesome death. It is even more difficult for the parents because they experience hatred and malice online – and accusations that they did not take care of their child. Suspect: four Afghans between the ages of 16 and 23; they are in custody.

Due to the massive threats, police protection for the family was announced, and patrol cars are to provide security at their home, reports oe.24. The funeral will also be secured with officials. Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (34) has also offered Leonie’s family support so that they can contact him personally at any time.

Leonie’s mother comments on hate attacks

Who made the hate comments – unclear. But the allegations that are spread on social media are spiteful. “Mainly because people judge us who don’t even know us,” says mother Manuela in an interview with news.at. “We are supposedly the ones who go from one medium to another to make money by using our child. And of course there are those who failed as parents and would not have fulfilled their duty of supervision. There is this pain – and then, to top it all, you are doused with malice.”

The things that are going to circulate – first we are the socially deprived ones who let their child go to seed.

Leonie’s sister was the victim of an act of violence

Now it comes out: Leonie’s older sister has also been subjected to a cowardly attack once, the mother continues. At that time, the family was still living in Vienna. Her daughter was beaten up by Chechens at the time, and the perpetrators filmed the crime! The attack was the reason why the family moved a few months before Leonie’s death from Vienna to Tulln, a small town around 40 kilometers northwest of the capital.

Leonie had gone to Vienna with a friend on June 25 – without the knowledge of her parents. A 16-year-old Afghan, whom she had met on Instagram, allegedly lured Leonie there. At the meeting on Vienna’s party mile, three of his fellow countrymen joined them, who then allegedly made Leonie submissive with drugs.

On the night of June 26, they brought Leonie to the flat of one of the men. There they drugged her with up to eleven Ecstasy tablets. Then began her ordeal, which lasted for hours: the men repeatedly attacked the defenceless girl, beat, strangled and raped her. Later, Leonie was “dumped” on a tree, then found by local residents.

The suspects are refugees from Afghanistan whose asylum applications were rejected. They have been convicted several times for drugs and assault. But they were not deported.

The men blame each other for the girl’s death. There is no trace of sympathy for their victim – instead only contempt: “It doesn’t matter that she is dead, she was a bitch anyway,” said one of the accused according to oe.24.

Afghanistan: Taliban going door-to-door, forcibly marrying girls as young as 12, forcing them into sex slavery

Taliban Jihadis Seizing Girls as “Spoils of War” in Afghanistan

Terrified locals say jihadist fighters have been beheading people and forcing women to marry their fighters

Girls as young as 12 have been put on 'marriage lists' that village elders have been forced to compile

As U.S. troops leave Afghanistan, Taliban jihadis are going door-to-door in the cities and towns they conquer, taking women and girls as "spoils of war." Experts say that Kabul could fall to the Taliban in the next month. David Wood discusses the issue. “Jihadist commanders have ordered imams in areas they have captured to bring them lists of unmarried women aged from 12 to 45 for their soldiers to marry because they view them as ‘qhanimat’ or ‘spoils of war’ – to be divided up among the victors.”

Where did they get this idea? Must be some kind of “extremist” interpretation of Islam, right? Well, let’s see:

“O Prophet, indeed, we have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have paid their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses of those whom Allah has given you as spoils of war…” (Qur’an 33:50)

“Forbidden to you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father’s sisters, and your mother’s sisters, and your brother’s daughters and your sister’s daughters, and your foster-mothers, and your foster-sisters, and your mothers-in-law, and your stepdaughters who are under your protection…And all married women except those whom your right hands possess.” (Qur’an 4:23-4)

“The believers are successful indeed, who are humble in their prayers, and who shun vain conversation, and who give alms, and who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy…” (Qur’an 23:1-6)

“Indeed, the torment of their Lord is before which no one can feel secure and those who preserve their chastity except with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy…” (Qur’an 70:28-30)

It has cost the U.S. an untold number of lives and an untold amount of money and resources to assume, falsely, that such behavior is “extremist,” when it is repeatedly sanctioned in Islam’s core text.

“The rape of Afghanistan: Advancing Taliban go door-to-door and forcibly take girls as young as TWELVE to be sex slave ‘wives’ for their fighters as they sweep across the country following NATO withdrawal,” by Chris Pleasance, MailOnline, August 11, 2021:

Taliban fighters are going door-to-door and forcibly marrying girls as young as 12 and forcing them into sex slavery as they seize vast swathes of the Afghanistan from government forces.

Jihadist commanders have ordered imams in areas they have captured to bring them lists of unmarried women aged from 12 to 45 for their soldiers to marry because they view them as ‘qhanimat’ or ‘spoils of war’ – to be divided up among the victors.

Fighters have then been going door-to-door to claim their ‘prizes’, even looking through the wardrobes of families to establish the ages of girls before forcing them into a life of sexual servitude.

The women and girls’ brutal treatment is just the latest sign of Afghanistan’s military collapse, which has prompted the Afghan president to sack his top commander.

One female journalist described fleeing a city in northern Afghanistan – which she did not name – and going into hiding with her uncle for fear the Islamists would hunt her down and execute her.

The 22-year-old said she fled under the noses of Taliban gunmen while disguised beneath a burqa and went with her unclear to a nearby village – but was forced to flee again after informants told the militants of her presence.

Now holed up in a remote location somewhere in the country’s north, she said she fears for her life and the safety of her family – ‘Will I ever go home? Will I see my parents again? Where will I go? How will I survive,’ she said.

Meanwhile terrified locals who fled the city of Kunduz – captured by the Taliban last week – have told of reprisal attacks carried out by jihadist fighters who hunted down anyone linked to the government and beheaded or executed them.

The Taliban has now captured nine of Afghanistan’s 34 provincial capitals and placed most of the country’s largest cities under siege in a lighting-fast assault that has seen government forces largely capitulate….

Former ‘Anonymous’ Trump Official Says Trump Supporters Are a Bigger Threat Than Al-Qaeda and ISIS

My latest in PJ Media:

Great news for diehard Never-Trumpers: Miles Taylor has popped up again, this time going on MSNBC to warn people that the “radicalized elements of the Republican Party now represent a bigger threat to our democracy than organizations like al-Qaeda or ISIS ever did.” It’s as ridiculous as it is ominous, and it’s clear from such over-the-top hyperbole and defamation that Miles Taylor and his ilk actually represent a bigger threat to our republic than anything they’re fearmongering about on MSNBC.

In case you’ve already forgotten, as most people have, Miles Taylor shot to a kind of fame in September 2018, when he wrote an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times that was one of the first open acknowledgments that there was a coterie of federal bureaucrats that is determined to thwart Trump’s agenda by any means possible: “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration: I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”

Taylor followed that up in November 2019 with the ostentatiously anonymous book A Warning, one of the first publications in what became a cottage industry of Trump-is-stupid-and-evil books. A Warning was credited to “A Senior Trump Administration Official”; both the op-ed and the book gave rise to a great deal of speculation as to who the author really was: John Kelly? John Bolton? Mike Pence? The disappointment was palpable when Anonymous turned out not to be a senior Trump administration official at all, but just little Miles Taylor, a thirty-something former chief of staff to the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. That’s right: a nonentity.

But Miles Taylor hates Trump, and that was his ticket. He became a CNN contributor and regular establishment media talking head, ever ready to stoke the fires of Trump derangement whenever called upon to do so. But Miles’ latest MSNBC appearance was so outlandish, so extreme, so utterly insane in its Trump-hatred that it suggests that the glamor of “Anonymous” is wearing off, and Taylor is desperately casting about for a way to remain a media darling. His plan seems to be to throw ever-larger rhetorical grenades.

Nicolle Wallace asked Taylor on Wednesday if he thought that “the insurrectionists were domestic terrorists.” If Taylor had had any integrity at all (but of course that ship sailed long ago), he would have responded that not only were the “insurrectionists” not domestic terrorists, but they weren’t even “insurrectionists.” Instead, he claimed that he had discussed the matter with “a very prominent former U.S. commander who said there are elements of the GOP that are starting to look like the jihadists that he used to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, spreading lies and conspiracy theories to radicalize a population.”

There is more. Read the rest here.

AFGANISTAN: Biden Pleads and Bribes Taliban to Spare U.S. Embassy and 2,000 Americans~Taliban seizes US weapons and military equipment as takeover accelerates

Biden goes on vacation as country faces growing crises

Hannity: 'Cut and run' in Afghanistan 'totally humiliated' America

The Pentagon is moving 3,000 Marines and soldiers to Afghanistan and another 4,000 troops to the region to evacuate most of the American Embassy and U.S. citizens in Kabul, as the Biden administration braces for a possible collapse of the Afghan government within the next month, administration and military officials said. The sharply deteriorating situation in the country, as the Taliban rapidly advance across the north and Afghan security forces battle to defend ever-shrinking territory in the south and west has forced the Biden administration to accelerate plans to get Americans out. President Biden, after meeting with his top national security advisers on Wednesday night and again Thursday morning, also ordered additional expedited flights out of the country for Afghans who have worked with the United States, so that their applications for special immigrant visas could be evaluated. The embassy sent the latest in a series of alarming alerts, urging Americans to “leave Afghanistan immediately using available commercial flight options.”

Gripping - Joe Biden Deploys 3000 US Troops in Kabul, Afghanistan

The government of US President Joe Biden reportedly deployed 3,000 troops to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This 'raid' was not for war but for evacuating US citizens. The situation in Afghanistan is getting tense amid the Taliban's efforts to regain control of the country. The force consists of three infantry battalions, from the navy and the army, and is on standby at Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport 24 to 48 hours.

'Desperate' situation erupts around US embassy in Afghanistan

“The likelihood that there’s going to be a Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely,” Biden claimed not all that long ago.

Now he’s pleading with the Taliban to spare our embassy and avoid another Benghazi, instead of doing the sane thing and evacuating now.

American negotiators are trying to extract assurances from the Taliban that they will not attack the U.S. Embassy in Kabul if the extremist group overruns the capital in a direct challenge to the country’s government, two American officials said.

I’m sure the Taliban and the various Al Qaeda and other Jihadist elements in the country who have been killing Americans for nearly two decades can be trusted to keep their word.

If not, Jen Psaki can come around to lecture them about how, “The Taliban also has to make an assessment about what they want their role to be in the international community.”

“American diplomats now are trying to determine how soon they may need to evacuate the U.S. Embassy should the Taliban prove to be more bent on destruction than a détente.”

Should?

The time to evacuate the embassy was the withdrawal. Biden should be evacuating now. Not waiting around to see if the Taliban will play nice.

Biden administration officials insist that there are no immediate plans to significantly draw down the embassy’s staff of 4,000 employees, including about 1,400 Americans, as U.S. troops formally complete their withdrawal from the country.

Combined with about 600 troops, Biden is leaving 2,000 American hostages to fortune. This is criminal insanity.

But don’t worry, Joe’s got a plan. Bribe the Taliban.

Mr. Khalilzad is hoping to convince Taliban leaders that the embassy must remain open, and secure, if the group hopes to receive American financial aid and other assistance as part of a future Afghan government.

Paying Islamic terrorists not to attack our embassy.

1. It’s criminal treason

2. It doesn’t work. Obama was paying off the Islamic terrorists in Benghazi. They still attacked us.

Mr. Neumann described a push-and-pull strain between the Pentagon and the State Department in similar situations, given the military’s responsibility for carrying out evacuations and diplomats’ duty to maintain American assistance and influence even in danger zones.

The Pentagon is right. Get Americans out of there or Biden will have even more blood on his dirty hands.

It is good that we are getting out of Afghanistan if we are. But this route was eminently avoidable if our military leaders spent less time ensuring ideological conformity among the troops and more time on their actual military responsibilities.

“Taliban Seizes US Weapons and Military Equipment as Afghan Takeover Accelerates,” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, August 12, 2021:

The Taliban has seized scores of American weapons and military equipment from Afghan security forces as the terrorist group accelerates its takeover following the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the country.

Taliban terrorists are now in possession of U.S.-made military vehicles, anti-aircraft guns, armored tanks, and artillery. The munitions were provided to Afghan security forces to secure the country as the United States ends its two-decade war there. The Taliban have overwhelmed Afghan forces, taking over key Afghan provinces and using U.S. weapons to power the offensive.

“These captured systems will increase the mobility and lethality of the Taliban, making them a more formidable adversary,” said Bradley Bowman, senior director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. “We have already seen the Taliban using captured humvees to patrol Kunduz and Sar-e Pol.”

With the situation in Afghanistan deteriorating, the United States announced that it is sending 3,000 troops back into the country to help evacuate the vulnerable American embassy in Kabul. President Joe Biden left for vacation shortly after the announcement. Vice President Kamala Harris dodged questions about the situation on Thursday afternoon, when a reporter asked if “Afghanistan is lost to the Taliban.” Harris would not answer, but said she would be briefed on the matter.

Military experts fear Afghanistan will once again become a breeding ground for terrorists and militant groups like al Qaeda.

Annie Aleman, a GOP strategist with the American Security Project, predicted on Thursday that Kabul could soon fall to the Taliban.

“It is very reasonable to expect that Kabul will fall by the 20th anniversary of 9/11 this year,” Aleman said….

Biden’s handlers sending 3,000 troops back to Afghanistan to get civilians out safely

“It should have been done much better.”

Yes. And about 19 years ago.

“Pentagon Deploying 3,000 U.S. Troops Back to Afghanistan in ‘Temporary’ Mission,” by Kristina Wong, Breitbart, August 12, 2021:

The Pentagon announced Thursday it will deploy three infantry battalions, or roughly 3,000 troops, to assist with the reduction of American civilians at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, and the evacuation of Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applicants from the country.

The battalions are already in the region, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said during a press conference. They will move to the Hamid Karzai Airport in Kabul within the next 24-48 hours. Two of the battalions are Marine battalions while the third is an Army battalion. They will join the 650 U.S. troops already in Kabul.

In addition, a joint Army and Air Force support element of around 1,000 personnel will help with the processing of the SIV applicants, Kirby said. The element would move into Qatar in the coming days, he said.

Lastly, an infantry brigade combat team will deploy to Kuwait to be “postured and prepared if needed to provide additional security at the airport,” Kirby added. That brigade combat team would arrive sometime in the next week, he said.

“These forces are being deployed to support the orderly and safe reduction of civilian personnel at the request of the State Department and to help facilitate an accelerated process of working through SIV applicants. This is a temporary mission with a narrow focus,” he said….

Trump criticized the Biden administration’s withdrawal in a statement Thursday.

“Had our 2020 Presidential Election not been rigged, and if I were now President, the world would find that our withdrawal from Afghanistan would be a conditions-based withdrawal. I personally had discussions with top Taliban leaders whereby they understood what they are doing now would not have been acceptable,” he said.

“It would have been a much different and much more successful withdrawal, and the Taliban understood that better than anyone. What is going on now is not acceptable. It should have been done much better,” he added.

Kirby insisted the Biden administration would still aim to withdraw U.S. combat forces by the end of August.
