A federal judge recently ruled in favor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington D.C. as he slapped down Mayor Muriel Bowser’s church shutdown order as unconstitutional.

In his rebuke of the mayor’s Draconian lockdown targeting churches while allowing riots and protests to continue unabated, the judge correctly cited Hebrews 10:25 as part of the Church’s deeply-held religious beliefs to assemble regularly.

“…not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

It has been a historic practice of the Church to assemble — in person, regularly — for corporate worship, prayer, and service. The practice has been observed for centuries, however, Pagan-run governments around the world have never ceased in their efforts to stifle religious freedom. For centuries, the politically-motivated Roman Catholic Church held the most power over the true Church — even killing millions of those worshipers over the years who dared to abandon their first loyalty to her.

Now, during a time of epic crisis in the United States and around the world, tyrants have continued to reach for more power while trying to dismantle and neuter the Church.

In D.C., the mayor’s order would allow churches to meet outside the District, conduct services by radio, or limit the number of people who could attend to no more than 100. However, according to the Washington Times, District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, said none of those met the church’s deeply held religious need to meet as a whole congregation, which numbered nearly 1,000 people before the pandemic meant.

The judge stated, according to The Washington Times, that “officials may think their alternatives are good enough but that’s not up to them to dictate. The church has a sincerely held belief about the centrality of a full communal gathering, and the city is hindering that.”

“It is for the church, not the District or this court, to define for itself the meaning of ‘not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,’” Judge McFadden wrote, citing the scriptural passage from the New Testament’s Epistle to the Hebrews.

Interestingly, Capitol Hill Baptist Church has been one of the politically-progressive churches that have opposed Donald Trump over the last four years. Dever has advanced the leftist narrative that white cops are out to kill black people, and he doesn’t believe that Democrat-sanctioned abortion is as bad as Hitler’s Germany. The church’s pastor, Mark Dever, has repeatedly argued that it is acceptable for church members to support pro-choice, anti-religious freedom Democrat candidates. However, had Democrats been in charge and leftists judges been appointed, Dever could have kissed his religious freedom good bye.

Beth Moore Denies Original Sin, Says We are Born Seeking Things of God

The Bible does not allow women to function in the role of pastor or preacher — and for good reason. Women are not permitted to be pastors or hold a role of authority over men in the Church. The bible is crystal clear on this issue.

There are some women who downright disobey this rule and there are some who presumptuously assume the role that has been forbidden to them. Any pastor who makes excuses for this transgression, ordaining women to the office of pastor, are themselves arrogant and unqualified.

But besides the prohibition in Scripture against women preaching, some are just rank heretics — like Beth Moore.

Beth Moore has a multitude of heresies on her laundry list and they continue to stack up. The latest, she has denied original sin and she claims — in opposition to the Scriptures which says that no one does good, no one seeks God (Romans 3:11) — that we are “born with a drive to seek the things of God.”

Tony Evans Implies We Must Embrace Socialism to Have Biblical View on the Role of Government

SEE: https://reformationcharlotte.org/2020/09/29/tony-evans-says-we-must-embrace-socialism-to-have-biblical-view-on-the-role-of-government/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Pelagian heretic, Tony Evans, has fully embraced the social justice movement within the Southern Baptist Convention and has joined the ranks of Evangelical leaders like Tim Keller who have exchanged the gospel of saving grace for a gospel of social equity.

Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Texas, recently preached a sermon calling on Christians to not ignore “abortion after birth” when voting.

Evans, like all social justice-minded Evangelicals, have embraced the notion that social inequity is as repugnant to God as killing children in the womb. Evans, like Tim Keller, Russell Moore, and others, believe that unless Christians embrace a government that is dedicated to solving these social inequities, these Christians don’t hold to a biblical view of the role of government.

When God is left out of government, “life and its value gets downgraded, reduced, dishonored and attacked,” Evans said, according to the Christian Post. “So when you think about Kingdom voting, you must think about the question of life.”

“Life,” Evans continued according to the CP, includes “pre-born life and post-born life; abortion before birth, and abortion after birth.”

“See the problem we get in with voting is that we choose a term insurance policy, not a whole life insurance policy,” he said. “We choose a pre-born insurance policy, and not a post-born insurance policy because we do not view all of life in terms of the image of God. And as a result, Christians take sides.”

Unless the sanctity of life at all stages is fully recognized, “you will not have a biblical view on the role of government,” Evans said. “You’ll just have a partisan view or a personal view. But you won’t be dealing with life as God deals with it.”

Of course, Evans’ view is foreign to the biblical teaching on justice. Evans, who believes that it’s okay to balance out the murder of millions of innocent children with redistribution of wealth — a solidly progressive ideology — wants us to take these things into consideration and come to the understanding that in order to be pro-life, we must embrace the socialist policies of the progressive left.

“When we allow the poor to have worse education than others because they don’t have the same dollar bill, when we don’t care about the health, well-being of people who do not have access to adequate healthcare, when we reduce their dignity we have attacked God. And when we reduce it by law or by practice then that’s called post-life abortion because you are … aborting either the length of their existence or the well-being of their existence so it just depends on which abortion you talking about.”

Evans position is stupid and unbiblical and should be rejected by all biblically-minded Christians.

Evans also holds to other heresies such as Pelagianism, believing that prayer gives God permission to work, and that corporate gathering of the church detracts from worship.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST BETH MOORE SAYS VOTING REPUBLICAN CAUSES YOU TO CHOOSE THE BORN OVER THE UNBORN

SEE: https://reformationcharlotte.org/2020/09/24/beth-moore-says-voting-republican-causes-you-to-choose-the-born-over-the-unborn/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

The new Evangelical progressive left, with its figureheads like Russell Moore, Tim Keller, Mark Dever, Thabiti Anyabwile, and, of course, Southern Baptist lady-preacher, Beth Moore, have been relentlessly trying to make the case that the two-party system in America causes people to have to choose between the born and the unborn.

Despite the fact that this notion is absurdly and patently false, these progressives have a political ambition to turn the church into a Democrat voting platform. The bottom line isn’t that they are actually opposed to the two-party system — they’re not. It’s that they are Democrats and want to turn Evangelicals, who overwhelmingly support the Republican party, away from the Republican party. They don’t need Evangelicals to vote Democrat in order for Democrats to gain the upper hand, they just need guilt them into not voting at all, or voting for a third party.

Beth Moore recently made this absurd assertion — that the two-party system causes us to choose between the born and the unborn.

But this assertion is stupid and to suggest that the Democrats care about the born while the Republicans only care about the unborn is false. The Democrats do not care about either — their version of justice is as perverted as Beth Moore’s gospel. They don’t want justice, they want to enslave people. They want to destroy religious freedom. They want to allow chaos and anarchy to continue in this world and allow criminals to roam the streets unabated by law enforcement. And we need not even go into the myriad other ways that the Democrat party is incompatible with Christianity.

PRO-ABORTION FEMALE BIBLE TEACHER AT SBC PRESIDENT’S CHURCH (Friday Church News Notes,
September 25, 2020, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from
“Pro-Abortion Female Bible Teacher,” Reformation Charlotte, Sept. 21, 2020: “Rebecca Shrader refers to herself as
a ‘pro-life feminist, pro-choice Christian’ who authored a ‘statement of lament’ for white people to sign denouncing
their skin color.
Shrader is a small group Bible teacher at J.D. Greear’s Summit Church in North Carolina, and proudly boasts it.
[Greear has twice been elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention.] Shrader is a very confused person
who believes that she is ‘pro-life’ because she chose not to kill her own children. However, Shrader is continually and
adamantly clear that she believes every woman should have the ‘choice’ whether or not to end their own children’s
lives. She defends Planned Parenthood and does not believe that life begins at conception. ... So it should come as
no surprise that Shrader, a teacher and member in good standing at the Southern Baptist Convention president’s
church, praises one of the most anti-Christ, pro-abortion, pro-sodomy Supreme Court Justices ever to walk the
face of this earth, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.”

ALL SCHOOLS IN ENGLAND REQUIRED TO TEACH LGBT-AFFIRMING CURRICULUM(Friday Church News
Notes, September 25, 2020, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted
from “All Schools,” CBN News, Sept. 9, 2020: “Beginning this month, all schools in England are required to teach an
LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum. High schools will educate students on sexual orientation, gender identity, and healthy
relationships while primary schools will teach children about different families--including LGBTQ members. The
new guidelines indicate that an updated curriculum will allow students to achieve ‘mental wellbeing’ and ‘to know
how to be safe and healthy.’ ... Last November, parents in Birmingham protested against their children learning
about LGBTQ equality, arguing that lessons on same-sex relationships go against their religious beliefs. Parents
held signs saying ‘My Child My Choice,’ ‘Let Kids Be Kids,’ and ‘Say No to Sexualisation to Children.’ ... Despite the
resistance in Birmingham, members of the English Parliament voted 538-21 in favor of the new curriculum to
begin in September 2020.”

BLACK LIVES MATTER LEADERS PRACTICE VOODOO (Friday Church News Notes, September 25, 2020,

Co-Founder,” ChristianNews.net, Aug. 28, 2020: “In an interview posted to social media, Black Lives Matter (BLM)
Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors, along with BLM Los Angeles Co-Founder Melina Abdullah, discussed the ‘spiritual’
component of the movement, explaining the practices and ‘rituals’ performed to remember and ‘invoke’ the spirits
of deceased African Americans. ‘We speak their names … [and] you kind of invoke that spirit, and then their spirits
actually become present with you,’ Abdullah, a professor at California State University, stated during the discussion
hosted by Fowler Museum at UCLA. Cullors said, ‘In my tradition, you offer things that your loved one who passed
away would want, whether it’s honey or tobacco or things like that,’ she said, referring to the creation of an
‘ancestor altar,’ which is sometimes practiced in African cultures. ... As previously reported, in 2018, Abdullah
poured libation and summoned the spirits of a number of deceased African American leaders during an event at
Hollywood United Methodist Church.  She instructed those gathered to declare ‘ashe’ as she made declarations
and poured bottled water into a plant. According to the website yagbeonilu.com, ‘ashe’ ... is an ‘African
philosophical concept through which the Yoruba of Nigeria conceive the power to make things happen and produce
change.’ ... Abdullah said during her recent interview with Cullors, ‘When we first started, I remember us going to
the ocean and doing these rituals and really feeding our spirit.’ ... As previously reported, Black Lives Matter was
formed by Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi in 2013 in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the
shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin. Cullors is a self-described ‘queer’; Garza identifies as lesbian; and
Tometi is a self-described feminist. ... the BLM site’s ‘What We Believe’ page also outlines, ‘We foster a queer‐
affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of
heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose
otherwise).’” “There shall not be found among youany one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through
the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter
with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:
and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee”

U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL CALLS MAINSTREAM MEDIA “A COLLECTION OF LIARS”(Friday Church News
Notes, September 25, 2020, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted
from an interview by U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr with Townhall, Sept. 11, 2020: “They’re basically a collection
of liars.
Most of the mainstream media. They’re a collection of liars and they know exactly what they’re doing. A perfect
example of that were the riots. Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it,
reporters observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened
group of street fighting radicals and they kept on excluding from their coverage all the video of this and reporting
otherwise and they were doing that for partisan reasons, and they were lying to the American people. It wasn’t
until they were caught red-handed after essentially weeks of this lie that they even started feeling less timid. The
press has dropped, in my view--and I’m talking about the national mainstream media--has dropped any pretense
of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan who try to shape what they’re reporting to
achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth. They’re very
mendacious about it. It’s very destructive to our Republic; it’s very destructive to the Democratic system to have
that, especially being so monolithic. It’s contributing to a lot of the intensity and partisanship. ... I think there are
a handful of reporters in the mainstream media that still have journalistic integrity, and there are some, but the
overwhelming majority don’t have it anymore.”

SOUTHERN BAPTIST PASTORS TO RELEASE JOINT STATEMENT ENDORSING PRO-ABORTION, PRO-LGBT, “TRUE CHRISTIAN” JOE BIDEN

David Bumgardner describes himself as a “21-year-old student, theologian-in-training, preacher, and content-creator” who is a regular on several podcasts and radio shows, a speaker, and serves as a Pastoral Intern at Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Archer City, Texas.

Bumgardner, according to his Facebook page, is a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a prominent Southern Baptist seminary that, like most Southern Baptist entities, has been given over to unbiblical thinking and “woke” theology.

Unsurprisingly, Bumgardner, like many Southern Baptist pastors and students, has also made a sharp turn to the left and bought into the false narrative that the current president, Donald Trump, is some kind of egotistic white supremacist that, for whatever reason, needs to be removed from office at all costs — even at the expense of innocent lives, religious freedom, and the right to live out a Christian worldview.

The implications are far more than political, they are theological. The line of reasoning that Bumgardner employs stems from a vastly deficient and sub-biblical epistemology and worldview.

“Very soon I, along with trusted and respected evangelical ministers and leaders, will be releasing a joint evangelical declaration outlining the case for #BidenHarris2020,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“I believe Donald Trump is a threat to the flourishing of my neighbors,” he continued, “I believe he is a threat to national security. I believe he is a threat to national unity. I believe he is stoking the fires of civil and racial unrest. I believe his hypocrisy is palpable and manifest. I believe he is a blasphemer who does not care about evangelicals.”

Apparently, however, he believes that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are not? Maybe. I don’t know. He sounds foolish, though.

“I believe Republicans have failed to introduce any meaningful legislation to reduce the number of abortions performed in the Unites States,” he continued, as though he actually believes what he’s writing here. And even if it were true, it’s not the point.

He continues, “I believe single-issue voting is an abdication of civic duty.”

The argument of “single-issue voting” is massively uninformed, at best. It is completely absurd. While the killing of innocent children is certainly at the top of the priority list for many — and rightfully so — there is absolutely nothing that the Democrats endorse on their platform that a biblically-minded Christian could endorse. Nothing. We’re talking not just about abortion, but religious freedom, freedom of speech, theft and wealth redistribution, lawlessness and open borders, anti-police sentiment, the advancement of LGBTQ indoctrination and the promotion of sexual anarchy, and the list goes on. This is who Bumgardner says he and his “Evangelical” friends will be officially endorsing.

“I am voting for Joe Biden because he is the *true* “Christian option” in this election,” he says. He then goes on to try to neutralize his opponents by saying that he will not question the salvation of those who disagree with him and implies that it would be foolish to “deride” him for his decision by citing Proverbs 18:13.

Yet, the Scriptures tell us that we will know them by their fruits — and it is clear that his fruits are in opposition to the biblical teachings on priorities. Therefore, it is Bumgardner who is foolish, and we have every right — and duty — to judge him for it (1 Corinthians 5:12). It would be foolish not to.

If someone who claims to be a Christian and has studied the Bible for a considerable amount of time actually believes this way, there is no way around it; this person has not been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and has no business preaching or leading a church.

CONTINUATIONIST TOO, LIKE WAYNE GRUDEM?

THE CONTINUATION OF THE “MIRACULOUS” AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS

The miraculous gifts recorded and described in the New Testament did not cease at the end of the apostolic era. While the apostolic office is closed, God the Holy Spirit continues to sovereignly dispense spiritual gifts (including those we may classify as “miraculous”) for the edification of the local assembly of believers, the furtherance of the Kingdom, and the vindication of the Gospel believers boldly proclaim. Believers should earnestly desire and pursue the spiritual gifts; they should seek to practice their gifts in the gathered assembly in an orderly and edifying manner while submitting to the pastor/elders God has placed over them.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Liberty University announced on Monday that it has hired “one of the leading forensic firms in the world” to investigate “all facets” of the school’s operations throughout Jerry Falwell Jr.’s tenure as president, including financial, real estate and legal dealings.

“This past week challenged all of us to the core,” the Executive Committee said in a statement on behalf of the Board of Trustees. “While we had been willing to extend grace and understanding to Jerry Falwell, Jr. before, once the revelations about his past personal life came more fully to light, we acted swiftly and decisively to ask for his immediate resignation, which we received.”

“Some may say that all the signs were there for a long time,” it continued, “… but all the signs were not there until the start of last week.”

While there are still some unknowns about exactly what transpired, “we have learned enough about the past to know that we had no choice but to take the leadership of Liberty University in a new direction,” the committee said.

The university remarked that it seeking to understand the consequences of the lack of “spiritual stewardship” on the part of Falwell and has consequently hired an independent organization to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of Falwell’s tenure.

“One of the leading forensic firms in the world has been retained by Liberty University’s Board of Trustees to conduct a thorough investigation into all facets of Liberty University operations during Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s tenure as president, including but not limited to financial, real estate, and legal matters,” the school stated.

It advised that, going forward, Liberty University wants to ensure that its leaders reflect the spiritual mission of the institution by their “words, actions and example.”

“That is why, in addition to starting a search for a new president, we are also reviewing options to establish a new role in the top leadership of the university for someone who will serve as a spiritual coach, mentor, and guide to help ensure that every member of the university leadership fulfills his or her spiritual responsibility to live out the Christian walk expected of each and every one of us at Liberty,” the committee outlined.

Acting President Jerry Prevo, a former pastor, has also been tasked with improving university operations “enrich[ing] the spiritual mission” of Liberty University.

As previously reported, Falwell, the son of the late Moral Majority leader Jerry Falwell, Sr., resigned from Liberty University last week after acknowledging that his wife had a years-long affair with a young business partner.

He said, however, that the man, now 29-year-old Giancarlo Granda, tried to extort the couple and became threatening. He asserted that he had no part in the affair, while Granda claims that Falwell sat in the room or watched from a camera while sexual encounters happened over the course of seven years.

Granda released a recorded phone call in which Becki Falwell expressed that she struggled with the idea of him dating other girls, even to the point of tears, and Jerry Falwell Jr. remarked, “You’re going to make her jealous, Gian.”

Falwell had already been placed on indefinite leave two weeks earlier after he posted — and then deleted — a vacation photo to Instagram where he mimicked his wife’s pregnant assistant, but was photographed knowing that his pants were unzipped.

Falwell told WLNI “MorningLine” earlier this month that neither he or the assistant were able to button their pants.

“She’s pregnant, so she couldn’t get her pants up,” Falwell stated. “I had on a pair of jeans that I hadn’t worn in a long time, so I couldn’t get mine zipped either.”

“So, I just put my belly out like hers,” Falwell continued. “I should never have put it (the photo) up and embarrassed her.”

The photograph was taken at a “Trailer Park Boys”-themed outing on a yacht, where the Falwells were on vacation.

ANDY STANLEY MOCKS JOHN MACARTHUR, SAYS JESUS NEVER COMMANDED US TO MEET~APOSTATE GETS INVITED TO LIBERTY UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION

Today, during a convocation at the highly-respected Southern Baptist-affiliated Christian Liberty University, notoriously false teacher and serial blasphemer of God, Andy Stanley, told Liberty University students that people, like John MacArthur, who believe that Jesus commands Christians to meet are “wrong.”

Shaking his fist in mocking frustration, Stanley says that Jesus “never played the God card,” and never claimed to be God, and therefore, somehow, he concluded, that Jesus never commanded Christians to meet.

Stanley also complained that John MacArthur said “not so nice” things about him, so he has no interest in having a conversation with him.

Of course, MacArthur was right about Stanley — that Stanley doesn’t know what a church is and definitely does not know how to shepherd a flock. It’s why most of Stanley’s congregation are goats and, hopefully, the few that God has chosen out of that congregation, will see the light and exit that demonic spawn of Hell’s “church” building.

Thankfully, there are men like John MacArthur who are willing to call wolves wolves and speak the truth, stand up to tyranny, and be a light and a witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ despite the many who are unwilling to do so or just want to stand on the sidelines.

Liberty University Invites False Teacher, Andy Stanley, to Preach Convocation

Liberty University, the largest Christian University in the country — which was formerly led by Jerry Falwell, Jr. who just resigned amid immoral and erratic behavior — has invited one of the nation’s most notorious false teachers to speak at convocation today.

Andy Stanley, pastor of Northpoint Church in Atlanta, is best known for blaspheming God and denying the Scriptures. Stanley recently announced that his own church would be closed for at least the remainder of this year because of the coronavirus — despite the fact that the coronavirus has had a relatively low impact on church congregations and has not been the monster pandemic it was made out to be.

Stanley is famous for his teaching that the Church needs to “unhitch” from the Old Testament and declaring that the Scriptures are unnecessary to Christianity. He teaches that God loves us more than he loves his own son, Jesus, and believes that even if you don’t know Jesus, you will have a better life by following his teachings — which is patently and absurdly false.

Stanley teaches that openly gay, practicing homosexuals can be saved and also teaches that the Ten Commandments don’t apply to Christians. All-in-all, there can be no doubt that Stanley has been a blasphemer of God and a false teacher that God has allowed to continue to serve his own good purposes.

Now, Liberty University is feeding their own sheep to this wolf.

WHEN THEY’RE DONE BURNING DOWN BUSINESSES, THEY’RE COMING FOR YOUR CHURCH BUILDING

For roughly the last 8 years, the Evangelical Church has been stoking the fires of racial division by embracing a cultural movement that is opposed to the gospel and much more akin to Marxist revolutionary ideology than anything Jesus ever taught. Evangelical leaders, through outlets like The Gospel Coalition and the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) have been paving the way for the destruction of the visible church for years.

Through what has been dubbed the “woke church” movement, churches have now embraced Marxist ideologies such as Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, and identity politics. The vast majority of these leaders believe that by embracing such secular claptrap, they’re immune to the destruction coming their way.

In the wake of a handful of perceived instances of police brutality over the last few months, leftists have been hell-bent on tearing down Western civilization and replacing it with a totalitarian Socialist government that oppresses conservatism, private enterprise, the nuclear family, and Christianity. To them, these things stand in the way of their desired Communist Utopia.

As we see the destruction taking place in most of America’s major cities right now, private businesses are being burnt to the ground never to reopen again. Coupled with the endless lockdowns mandated by leftist politicians who support the Black Lives Matter terrorist organization, middle class business owners are being forced out of business and the middle class of America is being destroyed. The middle class — the working class — is being increasingly forced into government dependence.

Make no mistake about it, this is exactly what they want. And they will not stop until they achieve their goals.

Yet, as leftist virtue-signaling Evangelical leaders like Southern Baptist President JD Greear lead their churches in marches with Black Lives Matter and other terrorist organizations to show their solidarity with the movement, they believe that this shields them from the destruction coming their way.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

These movements and organizations are designed to ultimately forbid Christians from following their own faith. They must choose a side — and many of them are. Black Lives Matter does not have room for Bible-believing Christians — they are pro-LGBTQ, pro-abortion, pro-Communist, and anti-Christian. Their movement is not rooted in any real desire for justice, it’s rooted in a hatred for Western Civilization. And that includes your church.

black lives matter church burning

In opposition to the Biblical command to not be yoked together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), these churches have handed their congregations over to Satan.

“For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols?”

The answer to the rhetorical question in 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 is: none.

But these feckless fools believe they’re safe. They’re not safe. Once the mob is done with businesses, they’re coming for your churches. They’re coming for your homes and your families. They’re coming for you — all of you. All of us. And nobody is doing anything to stop it. The endgame is complete and total destruction of the current system and complete subjugation of conservatives and Christians. Christianity is the last thing that has stood in the way of Communist regime change and thanks to leaders like JD Greear, Russell Moore, Tim Keller, Al Mohler, and many others in the Evangelical Industrial Complex, that, too, is changing.

They have fed you to the wolves.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST APOSTASY: JERRY FALWELL JR. RESIGNS, THEN CHANGES HIS MIND

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Jerry Falwell, Jr., the president of what hails itself as the world’s largest Christian university, officially resigned Monday evening after reports went public that his wife had an affair for a number of years with a young business partner. He had already been on indefinite leave over a controversial vacation photo in which he posed with his pants unzipped.

“After agreeing yesterday to immediately resign then reversing course, Falwell, through an attorney, sent the resignation letter late last night to members of the Board’s Executive Committee pursuant to the terms of his contract of employment,” Liberty University said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The Executive Committee met this morning and voted to accept all the resignations immediately and recommend ratification to the full Board. Later this morning, the full Board gathered via conference call and unanimously voted to affirm the decision of the Executive Committee,” it explained.

Officials outlined that the board, “composed of a mix of alumni, pastors and business executives, active and retired, used most of its meeting to focus forward on the university’s future and steps that could be taken to ensure it remained true to its mission.” A search committee for a replacement for Falwell will be formed at an upcoming meeting.

Read the statement in full here.

Falwell, while acknowledging that his wife Becki had committed adultery, said that the man, now 29-year-old Giancarlo Granda, tried to extort the couple and became threatening.

The Falwells had been in a business relationship with Granda surrounding a hostel that he owned in Miami, Florida.

“Becki had an inappropriate personal relationship with this person, something in which I was not involved,” Falwell said Sunday night in a statement to the Washington Examiner after Reuters first reported on the matter. “It was nonetheless very upsetting to learn about.”

He stated that he lost 80 pounds in becoming so disturbed about the matter, spending time “reflecting and praying about whether there were ways I could have been more supportive of her and given her proper attention.”

“I came to realize that while it may be easy to judge others on their behavior, the King James Bible reminds us, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery, but I sayeth unto you, that whoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her in his heart,'” Falwell wrote. “In fact, there are ways we may all be sinning, but the Lord believes in this self-reflection.”

He said that he consequently forgave his wife, and the couple sought to put distance between themselves and Granda, but he became “aggressive.”

“Eventually, he began threatening to publicly reveal this secret relationship with Becki and to deliberately embarrass my wife, family, and Liberty University unless we agreed to pay him substantial monies,” Falwell said. “We were doing our best to respectfully unravel this ‘fatal attraction’ type situation to protect our family and the university.”

Granda denies that he had engaged in extortion, telling reporters, “Any allegation of extortion is falsely, defamatory and belied by clear documentary evidence.”

As previously reported, Falwell had already been placed on indefinite leave by the Liberty University Board of Trustees after he posted — and then deleted — a vacation photo to Instagram where he mimicked his wife’s pregnant assistant, but was photographed knowing that his pants were unzipped.

Jerry Falwell Jr. Acknowledges Wife’s Illicit Affair, Agrees to Resign But Then Changes Mind

(Business Insider) — Liberty University announced late Monday evening that Jerry Falwell Jr. “withdrew” his resignation, hours after he agreed to step down as president following a series of controversies he was embroiled in.

Falwell walked back his resignation after multiple news outlets confirmed the news earlier on Monday. The college’s full board of directors plans to meet on Tuesday.

The tussle between Falwell and the college comes a day after Reuters reported that he and his wife, Becki, were involved in a years-long sexual relationship with former business partner, Giancarlo Granda. Falwell denied the charges, which were made by Granda, and claimed he later learned about his wife’s extra-marital affair.

Falwell had been placed on leave two weeks ago, and “additional matters came to light that made it clear that it would not be in the best interest of the university for him to return from leave and serve as president,” a university statement outlined on Monday. Read the statement in full here.

“I was never called to be a pastor. My calling was to use my legal and business expertise to make Liberty University the evangelical version of Note Dame,” Falwell told ABC News. “Some of us are called to be preachers, that wasn’t mine. I was called to make Liberty University the greatest Christian university in the world, and I couldn’t have done that as a preacher.”

JERRY FALWELL JR. BLAMES HIS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR ON WIFE’S “INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIP” WITH YOUNG MAN

If you’ve been following the saga with Jerry Falwell Jr., now-resigned president of Liberty University, you’re probably aware that he has been caught up in a number of controversies over the years, including the most recent controversy where inappropriate pictures of Falwell and another woman were posted with their pants unzipped on a yacht.

Over the course of this saga, Falwell resigned from his post at Liberty University and has released a statement blaming his erratic behavior and mental health issues on an inappropriate relationship he says his wife had with a young man eight years ago.

“During a vacation over eight years ago, Becki and I met an ambitious young man who was working at our hotel and was saving up his money to go to school. We encouraged him to pursue an education and a career and we were impressed by his initiative in suggesting a local real estate opportunity,” Falwell writes. “Shortly thereafter, Becki had an inappropriate personal relationship with this person, something in which I was not involved – it was nonetheless very upsetting to learn about.”

Last year, the Miami Herald reported on a “strange financial dealing” between Falwell Jr., and a young man who is identified as a “personal trainer” named Giancarlo Granda. Essentially, Falwell was threatened with the release of racy photos of his wife after he endorsed President Trump. Prior to that, Falwell had a similar dealing with a “pool boy” which, incidentally, was about eight years ago. It seems as though Falwell Jr. is throwing his wife under the bus for an affair she had with this kid.

“It was like living on a roller coaster,” he said in the statement. “While completely dedicating ourselves to Liberty, we were also suffering in silence during our personal time together, while simultaneously trying to manage and deal with this increasingly threatening behavior, which only worsened over time. We were doing our best to respectfully unravel this ‘fatal attraction’ type situation to protect our family and the university.”

He continues,

“Even though I continued successfully working with our entire Liberty team to achieve so many of our goals, I am now dealing with things in a way that I should have done before – including seeking to address the emotional toll this has taken. I shouldn’t have been afraid to admit my vulnerabilities and to reach out for assistance from the mental health professionals who could have alleviated this pain and stress. I am committed to speaking out and sharing with others at Liberty the importance of seeking counseling instead of thinking you need to be tough and try to bear these burdens on your own. I am in the early stages of addressing these issues.”

Falwell says that he lost 80 pounds after he found out about the affair, but that he and Becki had forgiven each other “because while her indiscretion may have been more obvious and apparent, I realized that there were important smaller things I needed to do better too.”

JERRY Falwell Jr's wife Becki told a former pool boy she was left "in tears" over his dating stories during their affair, explosive audio released on Monday revealed.

The recorded phone call between Giancarlo Granda and the Falwells offers an insight into how closely intertwined the trio became, adding weight to Granda's claims that he had a years-long sexual relationship with Becki Falwell, 53, while her husband supported it - and allegedly watched as they had sex.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST LEADER LIKES POST ENDORSING PRO-ABORTION, PRO-TRANSGENDER BIDEN/HARRIS TICKET

Ron Burns — better known by his Islamic Black Nationalist name — Thabiti Anyabwile, is a Southern Baptist pastor and an author at Mark Dever’s 9Marks ministry as well as The Gospel Coalition. Anyabwile recently denounced his faith in favor of “black solidarity” because he, like all people who have succumbed to the temptation of self-preservation served up by the vain philosophies of social justice, decided he would be safer that way.

Anyabwile recently garnered the applause of Evangelical leaders who like to pretend they’re apolitical when, in fact, they are leftists whose sole purpose in life is to guilt conservatives into abstaining from voting conservatively when he tweeted out that being “politically homeless” is “one of the best things” that could happen to Christians.

Of course, this notion is absurd on the face of it and is, once again, nothing more than an attempt to move conservatives away from conservative politics and embrace the social justice movement of the left. What Anyabwile means by “politically homeless” does not mean that one should be untied from a particular political party. What he means by this is that one should not embrace the ideas of either of the major political parties and, instead, treat both political parties as equally aberrant and embrace some form of “third way.” The only problem is, this “third way” that they seek to embrace is nothing more than repackaged Democrat politics with a new name.

Look no further than the And Campaign to see what we mean. This third way embraces “choice” in abortion with, instead of the government limiting the evil of abortion, it financially subsidizes fornication. This third way embraces open-borders and illegal immigration and amnesty. It embraces wealth-redistribution, welfare, and free healthcare. And proponents of the third way don’t want to be called Democrats, so they, instead, call themselves “politically homeless” and sob and lament as they embrace the political candidate that most closely identifies with their beliefs — Democrats.

And that’s exactly what Anyabwile is doing. Anyabwile, who once endorsed Bernie Sanders as the “best” candidate for black Americans has now embraced the most pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ Democrat ticket in all of American history.

This really shouldn’t surprise anyone, however, as Anyabwile has consistently pushed for Democrat policies such as reparations, doing away with the Second Amendment, and has hijacked the pro-life movement to now include social justice and welfare for people based on their skin color. He has endorsed marching with violent anarchist groups to oppose law enforcement and has partnered with Obama staffers to do so, himself.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Liberty University, which hails itself as the world’s largest Christian university and holds to the mission motto “Training Champions for Christ,” announced on Friday that its board of trustees has requested that President Jerry Falwell Jr. take an “indefinite leave of absence” from his roles at the school, to which he has agreed. The announcement follows controversy over a vacation photo he posted to Instagram — and then deleted — in which he imitated his wife’s pregnant assistant, posing with his pants completely unzipped.

“The Executive Committee of Liberty University’s Board of Trustees, acting on behalf of the full Board, met today and requested that Jerry Falwell, Jr. take an indefinite leave of absence from his roles as president and chancellor of Liberty University, to which he has agreed, effective immediately,” the statement said.

As previously reported, Falwell recently participated in a “Trailer Park Boys”-themed outing on a yacht while on vacation.

The vile Canadian-based show filled with profanity, alcoholism, drug use, sexual immorality and other ungodliness features episode titles such as “[Expletive] Community College, Let’s Get Drunk and Eat Chicken Fingers,” “I’m Not Gay, I Love Lucy … Wait A Second, Maybe I Am Gay,” “Gimme My [Expletive] Money Or Randy’s Dead”, and “You Want The Lot Fees, [Sexual Vulgarity]”.

The imitation of the characters at the costume party was made into a video, which was deleted but downloaded by a polemics outlet before it was taken down. Falwell was the lead character, Julian (see below).

In the photo that Falwell posted — and then deleted, Falwell held a faux glass of alcohol and stood with his shirt rolled up and his pants completely unzipped. His wife’s assistant, who was dressed as the character Lucy, likewise had her shirt pushed up with short ripped shorts that were unbuttoned.

On Wednesday, Falwell told WLNI “MorningLine” that he was imitating the assistant as she is pregnant, and that neither one of them were able to button their pants.

On Thursday evening, Rep. Mark Walker, R-NC, who once worked as a professor at Liberty University and now serves on the Music Faculty Advisory Board, took to social media to opine that Falwell should resign as president.

“Jerry Falwell Jr.’s ongoing behavior is appalling,” he wrote. “As a Music Faculty Advisory Board member and former instructor @LibertyU, I’m convinced Falwell should step down.”

“None of us are perfect,” Walker continued, “but students, faculty, alumni and @LUPraise deserve better.”

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Jerry Falwell, Jr., the president of Liberty University, which hails itself as the world’s largest Christian university, has explained, and expressed regret over, a controversial vacation photograph in which he had his pants unzipped while standing next to his wife’s assistant, who likewise had her fly unbuttoned. A federal congressman, who is a former pastor and serves on Liberty University’s Music Faculty Advisory Board, is calling for Falwell to resign due to continued concerns about his behavior.

“She’s pregnant, so she couldn’t get her pants up,” Falwell told the WLNI “MorningLine” radio show on Wednesday. “I had on a pair of jeans that I hadn’t worn in a long time, so I couldn’t get mine zipped either.”

“So, I just put my belly out like hers,” Falwell continued. “I should never have put it (the photo) up and embarrassed her.”

He said that he has apologized over the matter, which happened at a costume party on a yacht that was “just in good fun.”

“I’ve apologized to everybody, and I promised my kids I’m going to try to be a good boy from here on out,” Falwell said.

His post generated both agreement and dispute.

“Obviously perfection is what you are looking for and not repentance. Jerry has done a great job leading LU and a great job listening to the community when he offends. He also led well during COVID 19,” wrote follower Steven Mosley.

“A congressman has better things to do during this time of crises than to cause division,” wrote Rick Amato. “Out of the same mouth come praises to god and curses on a man?”

“As a Liberty alum myself, I have not appreciated many of the words which have come out of his mouth (especially during our current climate). This is ridiculous and absolutely unprofessional,” opined follower Dan Walker. “He can’t expect students and faculty to uphold a standard that he himself won’t uphold.”

“As a fellow North Carolinian, @LibertyUAlum, and above all else, a Christian, I couldn’t agree more. For the sake of the school and for the sake of Jerry’s soul, it is needed,” stated Austin Edwards. “Thank you for your voice.”

LIBERTY UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT, JERRY FALWELL, JR., ON VACATION YACHT: POSTS PICTURE OF HIMSELF & A WOMAN BOTH WITH PANTS UNZIPPED

In a very bizarre Instagram post, Liberty University president, Jerry Falwell Jr. posted a picture of himself standing next to another woman, not his wife, with both of their pants unzipped.

The image was captioned with Falwell’s disclaimer, “I promise that’s just black water in my glass.”

It’s difficult to explain why the president of the largest Christian university in the country would find it appropriate to post such a racy image in what appears could only be explained by a drunken stupor. Falwell has repeatedly found himself in controversies surrounding his personal life. During the 2016 election cycle, Falwell was captured in a picture with then presidential candidate, Donald Trump with a photo from Playboy magazine in the background.

Regarding the original image above, a video has surfaced of the family “vacation” where the photo originated. It appears to be a “Trailer Park Boys” theme vacation and the images in the video below are rather disturbing for a man who claims to be a Christian.

A video of the party also showed up on the internet, featuring Falwell and others at what appears to be a Trailer Park Boys themed party. The scenes are surprising, given that Falwell is the president of a the largest Christian university in the country. One guest in the video makes a vulgar gesture toward the camera. Some are wearing tight clothes with bellies exposed. Many have cigarettes dangling from their mouths.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY THREATENS PASTOR JOHN MACARTHUR WITH ARREST & FINES FOR HOLDING WORSHIP SERVICES

In what is quickly devolving into a Church vs State showdown between pastor of Grace Community Church, John MacArthur and the state and local governments of Los Angeles, California, it appears that MacArthur has now been threated with the possibility of arrest for continuing to hold worship services against the state and county’s mandate against gatherings.

MacArthur has been under fire from the governments who continue to threaten to shut down his church or take other actions such as shutting off the utilities to his church — which have already happened — and he’s also been under fire from those whom he’s called friends.

John MacArthur recently took a stand against government tyranny when he released a statement declaring that his church would not succumb to the intrusion of government into the right to freely worship unhindered. In the wake of MacArthur’s stand, he has taken a lot of heat from government that has not only threatened to shut off utilities, but has apparently followed through with it.

Now, according to Franklin Graham, he’s being threated with fines and arrest.

“After Pastor John MacArthur announced that his congregation at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, would be assembling in obedience to the Word of God,” Graham writes in a Facebook post, “he received a letter from Los Angeles county government officials threatening repercussions such as fines and even possible arrest.”

He continues,

But Pastor MacArthur said he isn’t worried about that—he and the church elders voted unanimously that the church will be open this Sunday and every Sunday. He said, “It has never been the prerogative of civil government to order, modify, forbid, or mandate worship.” They will not render to Caesar what is God’s, so they will continue to meet as the church every Sunday. I agree with Pastor MacArthur and appreciate his call for “the church to be the church in this world.” If I were in Southern California this weekend, I would love to attend their service tomorrow—and if you live anywhere in southern California, I urge you to get up tomorrow morning and go! It will be worth the drive. Not only will you hear a great message from the Bible, but this would be taking an important stand for our religious freedom. They have a tent set up and additional seats outside. The service begins at 10:30 AM, and the address is Grace Community Church, 13248 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley, CA 91352. If you’re like me and live on the other side of the country and can’t join them tomorrow, take a moment to share a word of support with Pastor MacArthur in the comments below.

This is much more than a war on the rights and liberties afforded us by the Constitution — this is now an outright war against God and His people. The Church is being attacked — cloaked in “public safety” attire — but nonetheless, devoured by power-hungry politicians and liberals who would like nothing more than to see her die. But God promises that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church.

John MacArthur Says Southern Baptist President JD Greear Doesn't Know What a Church is, Doesn't Know How to Shepherd His People

SEE: https://reformationcharlotte.org/2020/08/01/john-macarthur-says-jd-greear-doesnt-know-what-a-church-is-doesnt-know-how-to-shepherd-his-people/;

John MacArthur has been one of the few glimmers of light as a biblical shepherd during the coronavirus pandemic. As most churches are caving to the demands of the state to shutdown or limit worship, MacArthur has declared that his church will obey God rather than man.

MacArthur has been under fire from the governments who continue to threaten to shut down his church or take other actions such as shutting off the utilities to his church — which have already happened — but he’s also been under fire from those whom he’s called friends. Namely, other church leaders.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Southern Baptist president, JD Greear has now proclaimed that his church will be dismantled until at least January, prompting a response from MacArthur and his staff. One of MacArthur’s elders, Phil Johnson, appeared to imply that JD Greear was a wolf in sheep’s clothing for doing so.

MacArthur released a video statement last night explaining his strong stance for continuing to keep his church open and then declared that those who refuse to do so, mentioning those leaders (JD Greear) who have shut down their churches until January, either don’t know what a church is or don’t know how to shepherd their people.

Gospel Coalition Author Rebuked by His Pastor, JD Greear, For Opposing Social Justice

Neil Shenvi is one of a rare breed at The Gospel Coalition who consistently writes less favorably against the social justice movement in the Church. Shenvi, who is also a member of Summit Church in Raleigh, NC where Southern Baptist Convention president, J.D. Greear, is the pastor, has taken a decisive stand against secular social justice ideologies in the Church, particularly, Critical Race Theory.

It seems, however, that Shenvi has consistently stood in stark opposition to his own pastor and done so vocally. While Shenvi has defended his pastor in the past, his positions have clearly been against social justice while Greear heavily promotes it.

Greear has been a staunch proponent of the Black Lives Matter movement — though he says he doesn’t support the organization, his church has marched alongside them while chanting their Marxist slogans.

Greear has stated that it’s fine for Christians to vote for pro-abortion Democrat candidates as he patronizes black people. And, in the wake of the George Floyd riots, he has urged Christians to ignore facts and statistics and instead, stand in solidarity with the faux Black Lives Matter movement.

Greear has compromised on homosexuality, giving standing ovations to an ex-lesbian lady-preacher who has no other qualifications to the ministry except for her sin, has stated that homosexuality isn’t as big of a deal to God as greed, has called on Christians to stand up for LGBTQ rights, and says we should use the “preferred pronouns” of people who are confused about their sexuality, referring to it as “pronoun hospitality.” J.D. Greear has single-handedly caused conservative churches to leave the denomination.

Shenvi, while an author at The Gospel Coalition, appears to disagree with the majority of these positions his pastor has stood for and now, his pastor is letting him know publicly.

In a recent tweet, Shenvi rightly declared that Jesus was not a social justice warrior and Jesus did not come to “dismantle” unjust systems, but to preach the gospel. Greear, however, attempted to refute him with his pragmatic logic by suggesting that by Christians doing what Jesus didn’t do, we make the world a better place.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST “ERLC” SAYS COVID-19 IS RACIST SO CHURCHES SHOULD GIVE BLACKS MONEY FOR “JUSTICE”

SEE: https://pulpitandpen.org/2020/07/14/erlc-says-covid-19-is-racist-so-churches-should-give-blacks-money-for-justice/;

Will the endless virtue-signaling wokism of the Democratic Wing of the Southern Baptist Convention ever come to an end? It probably won’t so long as Southern Baptists continue to fund their anti-Trump PAC with their financial offerings. But boy, is it obnoxious.

For more articles on the ERLC’s all-in commitment to political progressivism, click here. For now, we’ll let just one more example of their woke absurdities speak for itself.

The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) – an entity owned by the SBC which was a conservative denomination only a decade ago – just posted an article by Brooke Kramer, a super-privileged white girl who serves as a receptionist in the ERLC ‘s bloated beltway office. She’s one of the many unnecessary staffers who comprise 61% of the ERLC’s insanely wasteful budget.

Why are spoiled 19-year-old girls being published at the SBC blog, anyway?

And like most sorority girls with White Guilt-complexes who just completed classes in gender studies, she signals virtue with flare.

So get this nonsense:

Kramer’s article has the following thesis: COVID-19 is prejudiced against black people, so churches need to give minorities money, research racism, and fight for “justice.”

While the brainwashed young woman includes a single caveat that the Kung Flu may not be epidemiologically racist, she claims that minorities suffer more from the virus than anyone else. That’s not the controversial part (poor people have worse personal hygiene and generally take poorer care of themselves).

Kramer wrote the necessary disclaimer to keep her from being endlessly ridiculed prima facie…

Obviously, COVID-19 does not discriminate based on ethnicity. But the coronavirus has had an immense effect on the health of ethnic minorities in the United States, exposing a deep imbalance in our healthcare system.

Alright, good acknowledgment; germs aren’t bigots (unlike those eternally-damned white monsters who don’t support socialized healthcare). But, you know…that ethnic minorities have COVID at higher rates has to be an indication of systemic racism, somehow.

Blacks also have a higher rate of STDs, AIDS, and Type-2 Diabetes – all issues that are prevented by personal carenot healthcare. But they don’t teach privileged white girls how to do logic in college, apparently.

No, no! The SBC’s Democratic Wing suggests that higher COVID-19 rates among minorities are because black folks can’t help but sneeze and breathe on each other because they’re disadvantaged (note: this argument is not racist because of the suggestions she goes on to offer). You know, they live in urban areas, don’t have jobs where they can telecommute, etc.

These conditions are, to Strawberry Snowflake, caused by racism. In typical public-edumucation fashion, disparity means racism, with not a single thought as to any other underlying problems within the community. All roads lead to racism.

Kramer’s solutions to this problem, of which she expertly lectures the 14 million Southern Baptists who pay her salary, is threefold:

First, pray (novel idea, thank you).

Secondly, give black folks money. She writes…

During this time of economic hardship, many are struggling to make ends meet. For those of us who are able to work from home or are still seeing steady paychecks, we can be generous with our money.

Third, read about racism and the fight for “justice,” especially from black authors. Strawberry Snowflake writes…

Finally, we can spend time learning about the experiences of ethnic minorities in our communities. We can read books and articles from Black authors and research the history of racism and how it was codified into law. We should also celebrate the American heroes who worked toward justice in our country and study how they did it.

What does coronavirus infection rates have to do with racist laws? No idea. What are these racist laws? Again, I have no idea. This ERLC secretary doesn’t bother to tell us what these “racist laws” are. They just, you know, exist somehowsomewhere.

How does reading about the fight for “justice” help black people with COVID-19 in any real or tangible way? It doesn’t. It literally doesn’t help at all. But again, logic isn’t taught during sorority pledge week.

She concludes…

We cannot settle for anything less than justice for all in our country. It is our calling as citizens of heaven and the United States to fight for truth, justice, righteousness, and peace, to the glory of God and for the good of our neighbors.

This is literally her last sentence ^^

What the #)%&*#)& #)@*%)@#* #)@%&*) have to do with COVID-19? What does it have to do with infection rates? How can you quantify disparities in infection rates among ethnic groups with systemic racism?

Of course, you can’t do any of these things. They’re nonsense. But a better question for Southern Baptists should be how the @#%@ does this garbage get published on the denomination’s website? Or better yet, how does Russell Moore still have a job?

Good grief.

AFTER MASS GATHERINGS WITH ANTI-POLICE PROTESTERS, SOUTHERN BAPTIST PRESIDENT GREEAR SAYS HIS CHURCH WILL NOT MEET AGAIN THIS YEAR

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. — Matthew 6:21

Last Month, Southern Baptist President JD Greear called on his church and other Southern Baptist churches to join them in anti-government anti-police protestors who called for such drastic measures as defunding the police and the destruction of historic statues in the North Carolina State Capital of Raleigh. The protests, led by Greear’s associate pastor, Mike Georges, was dubbed “Protest and Pray” and Georges, along with others, sported official Black Lives Matter gear featuring George Floyd’s infamous words, “I Can’t Breathe.”

These protests were encouraged by leftists, including the state governor, Roy Cooper, who was seen marching alongside these protestors breaking his own executive order and not wearing a mask. But Greear and his church gathered in mass gatherings as well not to worship corporately with their local church and body of believers, but to protest the government.

Now, amid the coronavirus and renewed calls for lockdowns due to a spike in cases which were caused by these mass protests of last month by Greear’s church and others, Greear says his church will not meet again for corporate worship this year…at all.

According to Summit Church’s official COVID-19 information page,

For the remainder of the year, we will not gather in person at our campuses on the weekend. Our plan is to equip you to be the church in your homes, in your communities, and online in order for you to continue being disciple-making disciples. So even when you can’t come to church, you can still be the church.

Replacing actual corporate worship and discipleship with online talks while neglecting fellowship with the saints and personal interaction from pastors is not church. Pastors cannot lead their flock if they don’t see them. There is no interaction — a key component of fellowship. There is no pastoral relationship. Greear is essentially turning his flock over to the pagan culture indefinitely and failing to lead his church.

Critical Race Theory, Southern Baptist Convention, and a Marxist “Solution” That Will Not Work

By the Editors at Lighthouse Trails

Resolution 9 at SBC

In June 2019, at its annual conference, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) passed Resolution 9: “On Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality.”1 Critical Race Theory is a political/philosophical-driven ideology that claims to be a solution to ending racism but according to critics actually presents a “solution” that will install Marxism into our society while creating a sentiment leading to escalated conflict and diminished freedom for all.

A June 18, 2019 Federalist article titled, “In Last-Minute Move, Southern Baptist Convention Supports Anti-Christian Racial Identity Politics,” expresses concerns over the resolution:

The largest Protestant denomination in North America, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), officially adopted “critical race theory” and “intersectionality” as “analytical tools” to be used in fostering racial reconciliation in the church. These key drivers of identity politics, however, are more likely to produce racial discord and strike at Christianity itself.2

OneNewsNow article titled “Critical Race Theory—A Bait-and-Switch Tactic Infiltrating the Church” further explains the issue:

Critical Race Theory (often referred to as CRT) teaches that American culture is rife with white supremacy and baked-in racism, and is used—often subconsciously—to hold women and people of color back. According to pastor and talk-show host Abraham Hamilton III, it’s the philosophy behind identity politics and comes straight out of the Marxist playbook.

“[CRT] doesn’t depend on your personal feeling, sentiment, [or] heart condition—it’s based on the group that you’re born into,” [Hamilton] explained recently on American Family Radio. “It completely eliminates individual responsibility, individual sin, and expands it to corporate sin. And based on how you’re born, you are immediately ascribed into an ‘oppressor’ or ‘oppressed’ group.” . . .

“Jesus articulated the primary commandments: love God with your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself,” [Hamilton] concluded. “We don’t need these anti-Christ, unbiblical tools to teach us how to love our neighbors as ourselves—the scripture is sufficient for that.”3

In a YouTube documentary titled, The Stain of Albert Mohler, Tom Buck, a SBC pastor who contested Resolution 9 at the SBC convention last June, noted to conference attendees that Resolution 9 acknowledges that Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality alone are insufficient to diagnose and redress the root causes of the social ills they identify. Furthermore, Buck stated:

Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality are . . . not merely insufficient, they’re incapable of diagnosing man’s problem and incompatible with the biblical Gospel. Critical Race Theory is based upon Marxism, a godless intellectual foundation, and both include a praxis contradictory to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These views do not complement the Gospel; they completely contradict it.4 (emphasis added)

In his rebuttal statements against Resolution 9, Buck quoted Colossians 2:8 (“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ”), then added:

When it came to worldly philosophy and human tradition, Paul did not tell the Colossians to adopt or adapt but to abandon.5

One SBC pastor announced, after SBC adopted Resolution 9, that his church was withdrawing from the SBC:

At the last Southern Baptist Convention, the messengers from the churches voted to include Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality as tools to help us interpret the Bible. Now if you don’t know what Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality mean, among other things, it is the notion that if you’re born white, you’re already a racist; it doesn’t matter what you feel or how you act. You’re just a racist. All of the radical liberal progressive thought is in those terms in order to appease the culture and get along.6

Abraham Hamilton III, also in the documentary, has a podcast on American Family Radio devoted to exposing the dangers of Critical Race Theory, explains how some of these social justice “theories” have entered the church:

Abraham Hamilton III

The way it’s getting into the church, you have people presenting these ideas—Critical Race Theory and other things—as something that they are not. . . . They’re not adhering to the traditional definitions and applications [so they can] get the foot in the door—and then once the foot is in the door, the applications return to the original definitions.7

The documentary identifies Albert Mohler (president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) as one of the main proponents for bringing CRT into the SBC. It first shows a clip of Mohler from 2018 addressing students at SBTS and condemning Critical Theory from which Critical Race Theory is derived:

Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School, coming out of the left-wing of Marxism in Europe, was basically, and this is what is key, was a repudiation of consensual politics. . . . So [in] this critical theory and all that came out of this horror, Marxism emerged from the idea that democratic politics won’t work. It’s not going to get to revolution. It’s not going to get to justice; therefore, there has to be a confrontation all the way down to the foundation, and that’s the critical means, taking it apart. And so they wanted to blow up the world basically ideologically. . . . Basically, it was a matter of identifying all the structures of authority and of order in society as repressive.8 (emphasis added)

And yet, while Albert Mohler condemned Critical Theory in the above quote, he actually embraces Critical Race Theory (an offspring of Critical Theory that uses CT to form its framework) as the documentary shows through live footage.9 Mohler also wrote a chapter in the book Removing the Stain of Racism (a book that promotes CRT and Intersectionality).

What is Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality?

Critical Race Theory, which was birthed in the 1980s by lawyers and social activists, has to do with seeing people from a critical perspective as belonging to specific identity groups (e.g., whites, blacks, lesbians, feminists, genders) whereby each group is categorized as either “oppressor” or “oppressed.” It is the creation of “cultural Marxism” wherein the two categories are pitted against each other to insight unrest (on the part of the oppressed group) and ultimately the complete overturning of the present system. The Stain of Albert Mohler documentary provides this definition of cultural Marxism:

Cultural Marxism is a broad term which refers to the advocacy and application of critical theory and more generally to the cultural, political, and academic influence of certain elements within the contemporary Left. . . . [it] is the creation of interdisciplinary theories that might serve as instruments of social transformation. . . . Gender, sexual orientation, family, race, culture, or religion—every aspect of a person’s identity is to be questioned; every norm or standard in society be challenged and ideally altered in order to benefit supposedly oppressed groups. . . .

Cultural Marxism is such a conflict as existing between the oppressed and the oppressors, between those with privilege and those without. . . . Majority groups are typically defined as privileged and oppressive with minority groups accordingly labeled underprivileged and oppressed. Heterosexuals are oppressive. Cisgender* people are oppressive. Whites are oppressive, especially white men. Christians are oppressive. Those that do not fit into these groups are thus considered oppressed. If whites are oppressors, the solution is racial diversity. If Cisgender people are oppressors, the solution is to encourage transgenderism.10

One article titled “Marxist ‘Critical Race Theory’ Infiltrates Churches, the Culture” explains CRT and Intersectionality as follows:

According to the UCLA School of Public Affairs: “CRT recognizes that racism is engrained in the fabric and system of the American society. The individual racist need not exist to note that institutional racism is pervasive in the dominant culture. This is the analytical lens that CRT uses in examining existing power structures. CRT identifies that these power structures are based on white privilege and white supremacy, which perpetuates the marginalization of people of color.”

In other words, racism is about power, it’s exclusively a white problem, and it’s intrinsic [i.e., systemic] in the current social system. Therefore, to end racism, we must change the existing power structures—a polite way of saying revolution. Affirmative action, reparations, and hate speech legislation are all justified by CRT. All are revolutionary tools derived from Marxism.

Intersectionality is the concept that all oppressions are linked. Racial oppression is linked to gay oppression, which, in turn, is linked to the oppression of women and workers. This is a modern expansion of the Marxist idea that “capitalism” oppresses not only workers but racial and gender groups as well. All “oppressions” intersect. We can’t treat them as separate problems. The main problem is not just capitalism, but white racist sexist capitalism. [Editor’s note: Intersectionality is the idea that there are people who have overlapping “oppressed” and “oppressor” social identities (e.g., someone who is poor, uneducated, and homosexual; or someone who is white, male, and educated).]11

Critical Race theorists believe in institutional (or systemic) racism; that is, racism is so integrated into our American society that “the systems in place [e.g., capitalism] . . . create and maintain racial inequality in nearly every facet of life for people of color.”12 Furthermore, they say that all white people, whether they think, talk, or act like it or not, are racist because they are privy to “white privilege” and should therefore be in a perpetual state of guilt and apology to people of color. This is why, in the documentary, you will hear different SBC leaders telling their audience that they themselves are racists. It doesn’t matter if they never felt or acted as if they were superior to others because they were white; they are white, and therefore, according to CRT, they are racist.

In an article titled “A Seismic Shift in Culture—The New Left and Marxist-Critical Theory,” Dick Pence (director of Big Sky Forum in Montana) explains some of the implications:

[Critical Theory] has been at work for well over a century. Stalin and other Marxists originally believed they could take over the world by armed revolution. Marxist theory taught that the Proletariat (the so-called working class) would rise up in revolution and take over the means of production by force. When it did not happen, Antonio Gramsci began to push the philosophy of cultural takeover after WWI. By slow, incremental cultural changes, they would move resistant countries into Marxism without firing a shot. And, they have been very successful.13

Joshua Lawson

In an article titled “You Can Be a Christian, You Can Be a Marxist, But You Can’t Be Both,” Christian journalist Joshua Lawson explains:

Whereas traditional garden-variety Marxism views history as a struggle between the wealthy and the working class “proletariat,” neo-Marxism [i.e., cultural Marxism] cranks up the heat and redefines the fight to incorporate biological sex, race, ethnicity, and a whole gambit of various “identity” badges. . . . The grand unifying principle for the Marxists behind the Black Lives Matter movement is that everything—and they mean everything—can be reduced to “oppressors” versus the “oppressed.” If you happen to be a member of one of the “oppressor” groups, then expect to see all sorts of punishments heading your way until the neo-Marxists are satisfied. Except they never are.14

When we begin to understand that Critical Theory is a Marxist/Leninist ideology that aspires to create a communistic society through revolution, we should also understand that the end result will eliminate freedom, justice, and democracy from all citizens. We should see that CT and CRT are not solutions to racism but rather are dangerous philosophies and vain deceits that will hurt people of all skin colors and where people of color are merely being used as pawns to promote a socialist agenda only to be later discarded.

Black Lives Matter Movement

Since the tragic and wrongful death of George Floyd in May of 2020 at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, protests and riots have overtaken the streets of America’s cities. One particular group, Black Lives Matter (BLM), seems to be leading much of the protest, riots, and violence. In Dick Pence’s article, he writes:

First, we must be very clear that black lives do matter, and we must communicate that consistently. However, the Black Lives Matter organization/movement is rooted in Marxism and Critical Theory and is both anti-Christian and anti-democracy. It is made up of anarchist bullies and is well funded by American corporations, the NFL, and others.15

The article lists some of Black Lives Matter “doctrines”:

  • They are radically Marxist and admit this.
  • They reject and demean the nuclear family whereby the village raises the children.
  • Fathers are nowhere to be found and not supported as worthy of support.
  • They are for abortion (including the murder of black babies).
  • They walk in solidarity with every form of LGBT+ theory.
  • They are Anti-Semitic.16

Another article, titled “The Real Mission of Black Lives Matter,” states:

When “Black Lives Matter” was born in the ashes of the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, they were rightly considered a fringe group by most Americans. Violence has always been part of their mantra. Particularly repulsive was their call in public marches for the murder of police officers (“Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon!” and “What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!”) They are loudly and unapologetically racist. All of this was quite out in the open.17

Ryan Bomberger

Ryan Bomberger, a pro-life author who shares his story of being conceived in rape wrote an article titled ”Top Ten Reasons I’ll Never Support the Black Lives Matter Movement.” Some of these reasons are: 1) no goal of forgiveness or reconciliation. Bomberger says, “I’m tired of the deeply prejudiced oppressed/oppressor critical race theory paradigm. It’s not Gospel-centered. This should, immediately, be a deal-breaker for Christians.”18 2) It’s all about black power. 3) They want to defund or abolish the police forces. 4) They are against capitalism. Bomberger explains:

Oh the irony of this declaration made by a movement that is the result of capitalism: “We are anti-capitalist. We believe and understand that Black people will never achieve liberation under the current global racialized capitalist system.” The videos that make us aware of police brutality are captured on phones that are a result of capitalism. The best way to elevate people out of material poverty? Capitalism. This system is why the United States is the most charitable nation.19

A Voice From the Past Eerily Describes Today’s Social Unrest

For nine years of his life, Manning Johnson (1908-1959) was a leading member of the USA Communist Party believing it would be a way for him to help his own race of people. But Johnson defected from the Party when he realized the truth of how communism and socialism were actually hurting the black people rather than helping them. In view of the current efforts by groups like Black Lives Matter (with their self-proclaimed Marxism/socialism affinities), we are including this section on Manning Johnson, who became a Christian believer.

Manning Johnson

Johnson’s 1958 book, Color, Communism, and Common Sense, can be read freely online at www.manningjohnson.org. There is also available the last address he ever publicly gave before his untimely death at 51 years old. Below is an excerpt from his book:

Stirring up race and class conflict is the basis of all discussion of the Communist Party’s work in the South. The evil genius, Stalin, and the other megalomaniacal leaders in Moscow ordered the use of all racial, economic and social differences, no matter how small or insignificant, to start local fires of discontent, conflict and revolt. “Who could tell which of these issues could start a general conflagration” that would sweep across the former Confederate States from Maryland to Texas?

Black rebellion was what Moscow wanted. Bloody racial conflict would split America. During the confusion, demoralization and panic would set in. Then finally, the reds [communists] say:

“Workers stop work, many of them seize arms by attacking arsenals. Many had armed themselves before . . . Street fights become frequent. Under the leadership of the Communist Party the workers organize Revolutionary Committees to be in command of the uprising. Armed workers . . . seize the principal government offices, invade the residences of the President and his Cabinet members, arrest them, declare the old regime abolished, establish their own power.”

The only fear of the white communist leaders was that as a result of their efforts this black rebellion would break out before they were ready in the decisive industrial cities of the North.

What if one or five million Negroes die in an abortive attempt to establish a Negro [communist] republic? Is not the advance of the cause worth it? A communist is not a sentimentalist. He does not grieve over the loss of life in the advancement of communism.

This plot to use the Negroes as the spearhead, or as expendables, was concocted by Stalin in 1928, nearly ten years after the formation of the world organization of communism. . . .

During the three decades which have elapsed since the Sixth World Congress in Moscow, the American Communist Party has conducted many campaigns and formed and infiltrated a large number of organizations among Negroes. . . . [T]he heavy hand of communism has moved, stirring up racial strife, creating confusion, hate and bitterness so essential to the advancement of the red [communist] cause. . . .

Through the aforementioned organizations and many others, Negro institutions of higher education like Howard University were penetrated to subvert teachers and students and thus politically contaminate the intellectual stream of Negro life. White leftists descended on Negro communities like locusts, posing as “friends” come to help “liberate” their black brothers. . . . Everything was inter-racial, an inter-racialism artificially created, cleverly devised as a camouflage of the red plot to use the Negro.20

Does Manning Johnson’s description not sound eerily familiar to what is happening today? As Lighthouse Trails has often said over the years, things are not always as they seem. Search out the truth and share it with the younger generations.

When God Discloses the Heart of Man

Our nation is in the midst of civil unrest as we have not known for many decades. Still in the throes of the coronavirus, rioting, upheaval, and violence seem to have eclipsed the virus with frequent reports and video footage of communities being trashed, burnt, and pillaged all in the name of freedom and equality. Many of those who have expressed disagreement with these means are labeled as bigoted and racist; thus, the hatred and violence that instigators are incurring on our nation is camouflaged.

Meanwhile, low-income black communities, ironically, will end up suffering the most with the present discussions of defunding or minimizing police forces across America, leaving these communities unsafe and unprotected.

Few would deny that George Floyd’s death was tragic and brutal, but what can be gained when the so-called solution is brutalizing and terrorizing American citizens (of all colors)? While there are those demonstrating who are trying to do it peacefully and with intentions to bring recognition of and action against police brutality, what about the not-so-peaceful and often downright violent demonstrations? What about those who go about leaving a wake of destruction and terror behind them? And what about the radical socialist-motivated groups who have instigated the violent reactions—groups whose agendas reach far beyond the scope of racial equality?

If we look at it from the point of view of these groups, the problem and solution are exceedingly complex. However, complex as they may seem, the problem and the solution may not be so very complex after all. Perhaps Americans, including many Christians, are looking in the wrong places for answers. Scripture has a way of providing simple solutions to seemingly difficult problems—if only we would turn to the Lord and His Word for the answers.

Remember, it is Jesus who said that mankind’s sin problem proceeds from the heart. After being confronted by the religious leaders who said that His disciples had defiled themselves by eating bread with unwashed hands, Jesus later explained to His disciples:

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man. (Matthew 15:18-20)

It seems that Jesus must have also been seeing into our generation at this very time when He said these words because Critical Race Theory (CRT), mandating confessions of “institutional/systemic racism” now being promoted in secular institutions and some of our churches and seminaries, is really all about confessing the lie that all whites are racist by virtue of being white (which is actually a racist statement against whites). They maintain that racism is currently at the very heart of America because of slavery and because some of the “fathers” and pioneers of America were slave owners. Bob Woodson, a veteran of the black civil rights movement and the founder of the Woodson Center, disagrees. He says that while slavery is a birth defect of America, it does not define who America is.21

Webster’s definition of racism states: “a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.” The Oxford Dictionary says racism is “the belief that certain races are better than others; discrimination against or hostility towards those of other races.” No matter what color your skin is, if your beliefs fall within these definitions, then you are a racist. Granted, God has given everyone a moral conscience to know right from wrong (just watch a toddler sneak a cookie and know she has done something wrong); with that in mind, it is inaccurate to say that all whites are racist. All whites sin just as all blacks sin, but we cannot say that every member of any one particular people group practices the same sins.

The fact is, there are racists within all “races” of people, and the reason is found within the words of Jesus—man’s heart and the sin which lies within it. We are all descendants of Adam and have inherited the sin nature. Society can educate people (which certainly can, at times, be helpful) and perhaps can force people to confess to the transgression of racism, but if someone is a racist, he will remain that until God deals with his heart because racism, like all sin, will remain until the sin problem is dealt with. This is the only real remedy for sin; and to truly be free from the bondage of sin, be it racism, envy, jealousy, hate, murder, sexual sin, deceit, greed, and so forth is to acknowledge our sinful condition and believe in and receive Jesus Christ as Savior who takes our hearts of stone and gives us tender hearts where love and compassion reign.

Some may say: well, if that were true, why is it, over the course of history, that so many who claimed to be Christian did horrible things including participation in slavery?

First, not all who say they are Christian are that. Being a Christian involves truth, faith, and relationship; when a person does acknowledge his own sinfulness, confesses (believes) that Jesus Christ died and resurrected to save him from his sins, and puts his faith in Christ, a change takes place, and he is born from above (born again). Now as a child of God, he is able to have a relationship with Him. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). Once we have that living relationship with Christ, He begins to change our hearts. Look at John Newton, the slave trader who became convicted of his sins, gave his life to the Lord (and became an abolitionist), and wrote one of the most beautiful and meaningful hymns, Amazing Grace.

Second, becoming a Christian does not mean that one is perfect. Christians do sin. In the Bible, it says “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). But as Christians, the Holy Spirit both convicts us and cleanses our hearts when we do sin. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

But the sure cure for racism is to receive the salvation that Jesus offers, which allows Him to do the work of transforming us from the inside out. Until then, we will be striving but never attaining. Society can force people with laws to live uprightly and to treat others justly and rightly, and so should such laws be in place. But laws cannot change hearts, and that is what is truly needed to fight racism and the other horrible sins that so badly hurt people.

True Racial Reconciliation

Whether the sins were committed yesterday, last week, or 400 years ago, all Caucasians are now told to bear the guilt for the sins committed by all other Caucasians; if they remain silent, Caucasians are accused of “violence.”22

Bob Woodson

In a recent interview, Bob Woodson, whom we referenced earlier, describes how he has worked with low-income black communities for the last 38 years in helping them achieve their hopes for a better future. This man has peacefully fought for civil rights over the years and, at the same time, has acquired tremendous wisdom and insight as to why many inner-city black communities are still struggling. When asked how he feels about whites apologizing for past racist acts committed by others and for the condition of such black communities (which is what Critical Race Theory and systemic racism are insisting on), he responded that he is deeply offended by this practice and finds it very insulting to black people. Woodson explains that what intelligent blacks are really hearing is that blacks are incapable of rising above their condition until and unless whites clear the way for them. Consequently, he finds the practice, now instituted in many colleges under Critical Race Theory, to be patronizing at best. Even many evangelical groups have adopted CRT. In addressing systemic racism, Woodson also stated:

It’s very troubling and very disturbing that the charge of racism and the institutional [systemic] racism has become a consistent mantra that’s being broadcast around. It’s even now morphed into an orthodoxy like communism—are you a supporter of the party or not—and there is no tolerance for anyone who disagrees or challenges assumptions that racism is the core problem facing the nation and particularly black Americans . . . those that are in these crime-infected, drug-infested neighborhoods, they are the ones who are suffering the consequence of this emphasis on race, and that’s what’s most troubling.23

Author and pastor David Platt, who was president of the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board for four years until 2018, was quoted on the Stain of Albert Mohler documentary, showing his affinity with Critical Race Theory. In live footage on the documentary, Platt says that basically the evangelical church is propagating racism (by not having an emphasis on race) rather than helping to diminish it. The narrator of the film refutes Platt’s statements:

Platt’s sermon is not based in biblical truth but in the ideology of Critical Race Theory of cultural Marxism. His basic presupposition is that white Christians are not only immersed in racism but are actually increasing the racial divide. He exhorts churches to repent of racism and to set up multi-ethnic communities in order to achieve racial reconciliation, but Scripture teaches otherwise. All true believers are one in Christ, so there is no racial divide in the true church of God—for black Christians and white Christians are one in Christ; they are reconciled in Christ.24

Paul, who was Jewish, described how Jesus is a beautiful source of peace and true reconciliation in his letter to the Ephesian Gentiles (a different and even dominant racial group):

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us. (Ephesians 2: 13-14)

Countless men, women, and children, throughout the history of man, have been hurt and ostracized, sexually and physically abused, and even murdered by those who have hated and had evil and murder in their hearts. The world’s answer today for this is: socialism, social justice, so-called tolerance, changing views on gender and sexuality, New Age thought, radical feminism, and now cultural Marxism through Critical Race Theory.

But these are not the “answers” the church should embrace. These ideologies are powerless substitutes for the only viable and true solution—and that is the Cross. And any group that claims to represent that Cross (e.g., SBC) should have nothing to do with the world’s solutions that will never work but rather should be proclaiming the Gospel to an unsaved, lost, and hurting world.

Those who embrace Critical Race Theory believe CRT is going to help end racial tensions and create a more loving world. On the contrary, it is going to cause animosity, suspicion, anger, and all the things that are the opposite of God’s love that is described in 1 Corinthians 13 (the love chapter).

Let us remember this too: Man’s adversary, Satan, does not care about anyone of any race, skin color, gender, or culture. He only uses people to propagate and accomplish his horribly wicked evil plans, and he is a destroyer, not a builder. His ultimate goal is to keep people from Christ and His salvation. As utterly horrible as abuse, bigotry, rape, hate, and murder are, there is something even worse, and that is to be eternally lost without Christ.

Promoters of Resolution 9 in the Southern Baptist Convention say there is a “massive” racism problem within the SBC. If that is truly the case, then the SBC should realize this is not a corporate sin (that would be saying every white SBC pastor and leader is a racist); rather, the problem lies with individuals within the SBC (or within any evangelical group) who hate, belittle, or devalue those of different races and skin colors; and it would be hard not to wonder if such individuals have ever truly been born of the Spirit for it is that Holy Spirit who puts the love of God in our hearts, giving us the desire and ability to love God, to love our neighbor, to turn the other cheek, to give our coat to someone in need, and to care about our fellow man. The Bible also says that God does not respect one person above another (Acts 10:34). In other words, God loves all people and is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). If God loves all people, then we also should love everyone, of every skin color, in the same fashion. What is really needed is to have the love He has for all to be placed into our hearts through faith in Him.

If we genuinely believe the Bible, we know that all people have a common ancestry in Adam and Eve. DNA tests prove that we all have this common origin, thus proving the biblical record. Evolution may suggest “spontaneous generation” and “inferior and superior species,” but the Bible has proven itself to be consistent with the facts.

What’s more, to view any individual as less valuable and more deserving of hate or disdain because of the color of his or her skin is going completely against the God of the Bible who created men and women (of all races) in His image and who loved each person so much He gave His Son to die on the Cross that any person who believes on Him will have eternal life. Thus, if the SBC does have a racist problem (as some of its leaders are saying), then they have a salvation problem with too many of its members, and that is what should be focused on because when that problem is solved, the other will begin to be solved also.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. (1 John 4:20-21)

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (1 John 3:14)

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS CALL FOR REPLACING CONFEDERATE STATUE WITH PRO-ABORTION POLITICIAN IN U.S. CAPITOL

WILLIAM THORNTON, SBC VOICES:

SEE: https://reformationcharlotte.org/2020/07/20/southern-baptists-call-for-replacing-confederate-statue-with-pro-abortion-politician-in-us-capitol/;

While we’re in the midst of a culture war in America right now — as leftists and Communists join hands to sing Kumbaya as the history of this great country is burned to the ground before our very eyes — we would expect the Church to stand as a rational witness to the testimony of Christ in the face of it all.

Let’s be real, the world hates the Church. They hate the Church so bad that they’ve actually co-opted it with leftists to turn her into a God-hating, gospel-denying social justice activism machine — and for many, it has worked.

The Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, is now virtually indistinguishable from the radical left on issues of culture. The Southern Baptist president has called on Christians to stand up for LGBTQ rights and his church marched with militant, pro-LGBTQ, anti-Christian anarchists to protest the government and police. This all happens as the gospel has been largely replaced with leftist social activism.

Now, a group of Southern Baptist bloggers who are popular in elite circles — though not all that widely read — are calling on the state of Georgia to replace a statue of Alexander Hamilton Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy, with a pro-abortion leftist politician.

“Stephens was the Vice President of the Confederacy and a virulent racist,” William Thornton writes at SBC Voices, “his statue wasn’t chosen almost a century ago by the Georgia legislature for placement in Statuary Hall for his being a progressive slave owner. He’s there because he was VP of the Confederacy and an unashamed racist.”

Besides the fact that the claim is absurd on the face of it, granted that Stephens was what Thornton says he was, his solution is to replace him with someone far worse.

“So, Georgia legislature, take a vote. Replace Stephen’s statue with that of the authentic Civil Rights hero, John Lewis who just died.”

“I’ve always liked Lewis even though his politics were such that I wouldn’t have voted for him in a thousand years,” Thornton writes, “I know of no ethical failures that attach to him.”

Really? Here’s what the National Abortion Federation writes about Lewis and his leftist politics:

“Representative John Lewis was a hero: a man of courage, conviction, and wisdom; an unrelenting champion of civil rights, racial justice, women’s rights, and abortion rights; an exemplar who never gave up hope for a more just country that would be a positive force for a better world.”

You see, these Southern Baptist men don’t view leftist politics such as abortion, feminism, and gay rights as a matter of ethics. To them, only “white supremacists” like Donald Trump and Alexander Stephens are capable of “ethical failures” because they don’t advance the politics of the left. The notion that Stephens’ statue should be replaced by Lewis’ is absolutely stupid. It’s absurd and doesn’t even deserve the rebuke it’s getting in this article. But, sadly, idiotic ideas have consequences, and if history says anything, it’s that dumb ideas like this gain traction really quickly — especially in this climate.

SON OF FORMER SOUTHERN BAPTIST PRESIDENT SAYS GAY & TRANSGENDER PEOPLE WELCOME AT GOD’S TABLE

The celebration of sodomy is now not only mainstream in the world, but very quickly becoming mainstream in the Church. This past week, Jen Hatmaker revealed that her daughter is a lesbian in a mini pride-fest version of Hatmaker’s podcast which explained why several years ago she came out in favor of sodomy and sexual immorality. She explained that she knew since the time her daughter was 12-years-old that she was gay and she immediately exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped the creation rather than the creator.

It was on Jonathan Merritt’s publication that Hatmaker came out in favor of sexual transgression several years ago. Jonathan Merritt, who was outed as having a gay fling and hooked up with another man at a Christian conference, is the son of former Southern Baptist Convention president, James Merritt. James has repeatedly stood by his son as he relentlessly promotes sexual immorality and homosexual activism in the name of Christ.

Jonathan Merritt, who also supports transvestites handling preschool children in public librarires for “special playtime” has repeatedly come out in defense of “Christian” sodomy. Celebrating pride month, Merritt released a video stating — in direct opposition to what the Scriptures say in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 — that all of the sexually immoral will receive the Kingdom of God despite the fact that they continue in rebellion against God.

Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[b] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. — 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Andy Stanley

Andy Stanley, son of Charles Stanley, is the pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, a Southern Baptist church. He is one of the most influential “evangelicals,” is considered a master of communication, and is a church growth guru who teaches pastors how to build megachurches. He represents the rapidly growing “emerging” side of the Southern Baptist Convention.

In 2016, he said, If you don’t go to a large church, you are so stinking selfish … and don’t care about your kids” (“Andy Stanley’s Problem with the Bible,” deliveredbygrace.com, Mar. 31, 2016).

In August 2016, he said that if he were the pope, “I would have all the churches that are dying, dying, dying, dying sell their buildings and give their money to the church planters” (interview with Russell Moore, ERLC conference, Aug. 25, 2016).

Stanley holds a “tolerant” view of homosexuality. He says he has no intention of pushing a Christian agenda on other people (The New Rules for Love, Sex and Dating). He says that churches should not make people feel like they have to leave “because they’re gay” (“Dr. Charles Stanley and Son Andy,” The Gospel Herald, Apr. 23, 2015). In a sermon entitled “When Gracie Met Truthy,” April 15, 2012, Stanley described a couple in his church who divorced when the wife discovered that her husband was in a sexual relationship with another man, and instead of disciplining the man, the church allowed the homosexual couple to move to another “campus” of North Point Church and work together as a “host” team. That’s not biblical grace; it is 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “after their own lusts” apostasy.

Stanley minimizes the importance of the virgin birth. “Stanley’s December 3, 2016, sermon may be the most controversial yet. In his sermon, Stanley minimized the importance—if not the reality—of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. ‘A lot of people don’t believe it, and I understand that,’ Stanley said. He added, ‘Maybe the thought is they had to come up with some kind of myth about the birth of Jesus to give him street cred later on. Maybe that’s where that came from’ (Baptist News Global, ‘Virgin Birth Debate Interrupts Regular ‘War on Christmas’ Program,’ 12-21-16). Stanley then noted that it is interesting that only two of the four gospels mention the virgin birth, and said ‘Christianity doesn’t hinge on the truth or even the stories around the birth of Jesus … It really hinges on the resurrection of Jesus.’ Earlier this year, Stanley minimized the importance of the role Scripture plays in the life of the believer, and minimizing the importance of the virgin birth of Christ is simply the next step in this downward trajectory. The virgin birth of Christ is vitally important, for without the virgin birth, mankind would not have a Savior (the God-man) and no resurrection could have occurred! Despite what Stanley says, Christianity does hinge on the truth surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. Stanley’s statements are dangerous and his conclusions are completely unbiblical. Discerning believers must beware of those who minimize vital doctrinal truths in an attempt to relate to those who reject such truths in the first place” (Matt Costella, Fundamental Evangelical Association, Dec. 23, 2016).

Stanley consistently disparages the Bible.

In 2009, he said that preaching through the Bible verse-by-verse “isn’t how you grow people. … No one in the Scripture modeled that. There’s not one example of that” (The Exchange with Ed Stetzer, Mar. 5, 2009). But the preacher is commanded to “preach the Word” (2 Ti. 4:2). How can he preach the Word without preaching verse-by-verse? The preacher isn’t giving the Word as the Bible writers were; he is preaching the Word already given. Stanley is comparing apples with oranges. A good example of preaching expositorily is Nehemiah 8, where the priests exposited the book of the law. “So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading” (Neh. 8:8). Here, the priests were not giving new revelation; they were not writing Scripture; they were preaching Scripture, and they went verse-by-verse.

In 2014, Stanley said, “Don’t say the Bible says. Say the author’s name who wrote the Bible” (Stanley, Deep and Wide).

On Aug. 25, 2016, in a conversation with Russell Moore at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission conference held in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention annual conference, Stanley said, “I would ask preachers and pastors and student pastors in their communications to get the spotlight off the Bible and back on the resurrection.” This is nutty, of course, because it is impossible to understand Christ’s resurrection apart from the Bible.

In 2016, in his Easter Sunday message, Stanley said, “If you said to me one-on-one, Andy, I’m not a Christian … but I’m going to let you take your best shot at convincing me to follow Jesus’–Here’s what I wouldn’t do … I wouldn’t try to convince you with the Bible. … I would start with the resurrection of Jesus without the Bible.” Again, this is complete nonsense, as it is the Bible alone that records the resurrection and its infallible evidences.

In 2016, in a series “Who Needs God?” Stanley said, “If the Bible is the foundation of our faith, it’s all or nothing. Christianity becomes a ‘fragile house of cards’ religion. Christianity becomes a fragile house of cards that comes tumbling down when we discover that perhaps the walls of Jericho didn’t. … What your students have discovered, and if you read broadly you’ve discovered, it is next to impossible to defend the entire Bible. But if your Christianity hangs by the thread of proving that everything in the Bible is true, you may be able to hang onto it, but your kids and your grandkids and the next generation will not.” The things he says are not supported by evidence include the young age of the earth, the global flood, the miraculous Exodus from Egypt, and the walls of Jericho falling down. Stanley’s idea that it is next to impossible to defend the whole Bible is gross heresy. Jesus and the apostles certainly believed and defended all of it, every jot and tittle.

In 2018, Stanley said, “If you were raised on a version of Christianity that relied on the Bible as the foundation of faith, a version that was eventually dismantled by academia or the realities of life, maybe it’s time for you to change your mind about Jesus. Maybe it’s time for you to consider the version of Christianity that relies on the event of the resurrection of Jesus as its foundation” (Stanley, “Aftermath” sermon series). Pastor Chris King rightly observes, “Any Christian leader who questions the reliability and usefulness of God’s Word is either terribly confused or a false teacher. Either way, such a teacher is a dangerous influence. A ‘version of Christianity’ that does not rely on the Bible is not Christianity” (“The Dangerous False Teaching of Andy Stanley,” deliveredbygrace.com, Aug. 16, 2018).

ACTIVIST GROUP AMASSES OVER 11,000 SIGNATURES IN 3 DAYS TO FIRE ALBERT MOHLER FROM SOUTHERN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

BY DUSTIN GERMAIN

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Faithful America, a radical “Christian” organization that describes itself as “the largest online community of Christians putting faith into action for social justice” has amassed over 11,000 signatures for an online petition in an effort to fire Southern Baptist Theological Seminary president Albert Mohler for “enabling racism and attacking the Episcopal Church” as well as for “failing to condemn systemic racism and police violence”

The petition, which was first posted on June 8th, reads:

In a podcast, Mohler used Trump’s blasphemous Bible photo-op at St. John’s Episcopal Church as an excuse to ignore Black lives, pivoting to bizarrely and offensively argue that the Episcopal Church’s use of Scripture (presumably in its embrace of LGBTQ rights) “adds to the pain and the consternation” of the moment.

Not once between the May 25 death of George Floyd and the June 7 launch of this petition has Mohler, likely the next president of the Southern Baptist Convention, used his daily podcast to condemn white supremacy or police violence. Instead, he has often focused on condemning protesters, never even mentioning the word “racism” except to disagree with a progressive Black writer.

All of this comes just two weeks after reports that Mohler defended slavery as recently as a 1998 CNN interview. It’s enough to make you wonder: Does Mohler feel like Black lives don’t matter?

If enough Christians speak out now, it could create enough controversy around Mohler to prevent him from becoming the next leader of America’s largest Protestant denomination — an embarrassment that Christianity does not need.

Directed at “Pastor Clint Pressley, Dean John Montgomery, Pastor Nick Floyd, Mr. Keith Daniels, Mr. Rick Staab, and SBTS Trustees, ” the petition asserts:

Dr. Albert Mohler’s failure to condemn systemic racism and police violence in his recent daily podcasts — despite his condemnation of protesters — enables white supremacy and ignores the God-given dignity of Black lives. This failure is made even more conspicuous by Dr. Mohler’s use of President Trump’s St. John’s photo op to change the topic away from racism and to an unprovoked attack on the Episcopal Church.

Faithful America boasts that it has 160,000 dedicated to the cause, and has as it’s mission statement:” We stick up for courageous Christian voices acting for fairness and freedom in every denomination, and we work together for immigrant and refugee rights, climate justice, and full LGBTQ inclusion, among other important social and economic justice issues.”

Their “successes,” if they could be called that, include convincing Google to drop World Vision, defeating the fracking industry, and fighting Hobby Lobby on contraception.

According to the Courier Journal, Mohler was “not available to talk” about the petition, according to a spokesman. Caleb Shaw, director of communications for Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, sent the following statement:

Dr. Albert Mohler has consistently condemned racism his entire tenure at Southern Seminary and has been a leader in the Southern Baptist Convention in condemning the sin of racism in any form. This so-called petition is a bald-faced lie originating from a far-left organization that has no regard for truth. The effort was then fueled by internet trolls. It deserves no further comment.”

While we would love to see Albert Mohler fired from SBTS for reasons that are manifest, as he demonstrates that he’s clearly the wrong person to halt the theological downgrade happening at SBTS, we don’t need a heretical, unorthodox group doing it or taking up the case for us.

It’s our mess. We’ll take care of it.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST PRESIDENT GREEAR SAYS SUPPORTING “BLACK LIVES MATTER” IS A “GOSPEL ISSUE”

SEE: https://pulpitandpen.org/2020/06/09/southern-baptist-president-says-supporting-black-lives-matter-is-a-gospel-issue/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Earlier today, the President of the Southern Baptist Convention, JD Greear, used his annual address to promote social justice, signal his virtue, call for affirmative action in denominational hiring, and support Black Lives Matter.

Greear gave his annual address virtually because the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting was canceled due to the Cornavirus Panic of 2020. In fact, Greear’s own congregation, Summit Church in North Carolina, will be closed until at least the end of June. This hasn’t stopped Greear from encouraging his church to take part in other mass gatherings, chiefly large-scale protests against the police. For Greear, corporate worship of Jesus is unsafe and irresponsible, but virtue-signaling never takes a holiday.

In the screenshot below, Greear encourages Summit Church members – who aren’t allowed to attend church on Sunday for “safety” reasons – to march against “social injustice.” The tweet has a photo of a black man growling angrily in a hoodie. And Greear was not encouraging an online protest, but a physical march that was to take place in city of Durham.

For Greear, Jesus takes second-place to social justice.

Using his Twitter feed to promote “social justice” is one thing, but using his position as Southern Baptist president to promote unabashed wokeness is something else altogether.

Nonetheless, that’s what JD Greear did.

Beginning at the 9-minute-mark of the video below and after recalling the racist past of the SBC (the denomination was founded in disagreement about whether or not slave-holders could serve as missionaries), Greear applauds the SBC for its racial diversity but laments (10.23 mark) that, “Sadly, our leadership does not yet reflect the diversity that God has given to our membership.”

Watch below:

Greear then goes on to say…

Southern Baptists, we need to say it clearly as a Gospel issue, “Black Lives Matter.”

Greear then goes on to rebuke Southern Baptist who say, “All lives matter,” insinuating that it’s racially motivated.

Greear also says “Let’s not talk about stats right now.” By that, Greear means that Christians should not demonstrate through empirical data that black people are not at greater statistical risk to be killed by the police than white people, or that black police officers are more likely to kill black individuals than white police officers.

Like others who have embraced the Religion of Wokeness, statistical data and factual evidence doesn’t matter to Greear because his commitment to the social justice narrative is religious in nature; faith doesn’t require evidence.

Instead, Greear says to listen to the anecdotal stories of black friends and disregard any empirical data that may contradict them (this is called “story-telling” and is an essential doctrine of Critical Race Theory).

Greear’s claim that “Black Lives Matter” is a “gospel issue” is nothing new for Greear and his ‘woke’ evangelical peers. To Popularity Gospel proponents, everything is a “gospel issue.” The Gospel Coalition claimed food allergies were a gospel issue. They claimed chain-migration was a gospel issue. We’ve been covering the phenomenon of calling every ‘woke’ talking point a gospel issue since at least 2017 when JD did his podcast episode, Not Everything is a Gospel Issue.

After saying the repeated phrase, “Black Lives Matter” and ordering Baptists not to claim all lives matter, Greear does the Goose-Step Two-Step by claiming…

“And by the way, I realize the movement and the website have been hijacked by some political operatives whose worldview and policy prescriptions would be deeply at odds from my own…I do not align myself with the Black Lives Matter organization.”

Why does Greear use the motto, slogan, phrase, and copyrighted and trademarked name of Black Lives matter if he doesn’t support the organization?

Greear could say:

  • Black lives are sacred
  • Black lives are important
  • Black lives are essential

Of course, Greear is using the expression in complete disregard for its propagandic purposes, serving as a Useful Idiot for an anti-Christian, pro-gay, Marxist organization that started using that expression with a hashtag. An organization did not “hijack” that phrase, it coined it.

Meanwhile, Greear is promoting Black Lives Matter’s propaganda suggesting that appeals to evidence, facts, and statistics in regard to current events are racist and insensitive.

JD Greear is either a profoundly evil man for speaking out both sides of his mouth or a profoundly stupid man (and most megachurch pastors aren’t stupid).

BETH MOORE DOESN’T WANT YOU TO PREACH OR SHARE THE GOSPEL AT THE “PROTESTS”

SEE: https://pulpitandpen.org/2020/06/09/beth-moore-doesnt-want-you-to-preach-or-share-the-gospel-at-the-protests/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Beth Moore has been relatively silent through most of the last week’s protests and riots, with only a few general comments here and there. She supports the protest, of course, and in fact, informs that many of the staff at Livin Proof Ministries have been marching, and she hopes to join them soon.

But as far as what those protesters will look like for Beth, what she thinks Christians should be doing once they are there, how we are to interact with others and what role our faith ought to play in our motivations for attending, we no longer have to guess.

There you have it. Nice to know that we have some clarity from Lifeway Superstar and darling of the SBC, Beth Moore.

If you think of the protests as a mission field where you might share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people you encounter there- don’t

If you’re going to “love on them”- don’t

If you’re going to lead people in prayer- don’t

If you want to be a “Christian voice in the crowd”- don’t

If you want to share God’s love- don’t

If you want to witness to people – don’t

Just be a warm body to march and fight violence and racism, but keep your Jesus and the Gospel out of it.

Of course, it should go without saying that this from advice from Kristen only applies to White Christians. If you are a Black Christian, you can go and preach the gospel, pray with people, share god’s love, witness, etc. If you’re not a person of color, then don’t even think about it.
