Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vows that critical race theory won’t be part of the state’s education curriculum.

“Florida’s civics curriculum will incorporate foundational concepts with the best materials, and it will expressly exclude unsanctioned narratives like critical race theory and other unsubstantiated theories,” DeSantis said Wednesday.

Critical race theory, Heritage Foundation scholars Jonathan Butcher and Mike Gonzalez say, “makes race the prism through which its proponents analyze all aspects of American life,” and it “underpins identity politics, which reimagines the U.S. as a nation riven by groups, each with specific claims on victimization.”

“Let me be clear,” DeSantis said, “There is no room in our classrooms for things like critical race theory. Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.”

Rather than teaching critical race theory, he said, Florida “will invest in actual, solid, true curriculum, and we will be a leader in the development and implementation of a world-class civics education.”

Gonzalez, who has written extensively on critical race theory for The Heritage Foundation, told The Daily Signal in an email that critical race theory is teaching children a false version of history.

“Teaching young children that punctuality, love of reading and writing, and hard work are functions of something called ‘white-ism,’ or that treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity, will not help students thrive and be successful,” he said.

Kobach: Biden Planned Surge to Bring in Illegals. Goal Is Citizenship, Turn Texas Blue

Kobach: Biden Planned Surge to Bring in Illegals. Goal Is Citizenship, Turn Texas Blue

President Biden knew exactly what he was doing when he reversed almost every one of his predecessors’ tough immigration policies with a farrago of executive orders. Biden’s plan, immigration expert Kris Kobach wrote at Breitbart, was to cause the “crisis” at the border to swamp the nation with illegals.

They will eventually become citizens and turn Texas blue, wrote the former Kansas secretary of state. And that, of course, means permanent Democrat control of the presidency and perhaps, the Congress.

The evidence for Kobach’s claim: Biden’s promises of open borders, and a massive march of illegals into the country. Border agents have apprehended almost 180,000 illegals at the southern border with Mexico since Biden took office.

Intentional Surge

Biden and his immigration people might be “touchy” about the word “crisis” to describe the tsunami of impoverished “migrants” surging across the border. But “they don’t see it as a failure at all,” he wrote for Breitbart. “In fact, their plans are succeeding — just a little bit more than they had expected.

Biden’s 100-day pause in deportations, Kobach wrote, was an invitation, as was crippling Immigration and Customs Enforcement:

That sent an immediate and undeniable signal to people in Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. Migrants understood it as: “You have 100 days to make it to the United States — if you make it in, you get to stay.”

Biden’s acting DHS Secretary stated at the time that allowing “certain noncitizens ordered deported” to stay in the country “will allow DHS to ensure that its resources are dedicated to responding to the most pressing challenges that the United States faces….”  That was revealed as a lie a few weeks later when the Biden Administration announced new guidelines that dramatically restricted ICE’s ability to deport illegal aliens. Under the new guidelines, it’s extraordinarily difficult for ICE officers to remove anyone who is not a convicted aggravated felon, a member of a gang, or a terrorist. ICE officers aren’t being reassigned to “more pressing challenges” like the acting Secretary claimed. They are literally being forced to sit behind their desks.

“Unable to remove more than 80 percent of the aliens who would have been removed from the country under Trump Administration protocols,” ICE is crippled, he wrote. Permission is rarely granted to deport an illegal.

Another part of Biden’s swamp-the-border plan was ending Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy that kept asylum applicants below the border to wait for claims to be heard.

Ninety percent of asylum claims are rejected, he wrote, and, if released inside the U.S. border, the asylum-seekers “disappear … and never show up for the hearing.” That’s why Trump created the Remain in Mexico policy.

But Biden, again, reversed Trump’s policy and ordered officials to import 25,000 applicants who were waiting in Mexico.

Kobach also reprised the number of illegals caught in January and February. The first calendar month’s 78,442 is a 10-year record. February totaled 100,441.

“That’s about 3,000 per day, triple the typical 1,100 a day during the last year of the Trump Administration.”

Even worse, “the general rule is that for every one migrant apprehended, another three successfully sneak in illegally. That means that more than half a million additional illegal aliens entered the United States during the first two months of the Biden Administration.”

As The New American reported yesterday, border agents have apprehended multiple large groups of illegals recently. Some numbered more than 100.

Who Benefits?

Kobach also explained who benefits besides Mexican cartels smuggling drugs and the illegals.

“Cynical politicians on the Left also benefit,” he concluded:

They succeeded in turning California blue over the past two decades by replacing U.S. citizen voters with low-income migrants who vote overwhelmingly Democrat. New Mexico followed, along with Arizona which was in the process of flipping. But Texas is the ultimate target.

It’s not an unexpected crisis. It’s a plan that yielded bigger results than the Biden Administration anticipated.

But Texas isn’t really the ultimate target. The United States is. Once Texas goes blue, a future GOP presidential victory will be nearly impossible. The presidency will almost surely be in Democrat hands forever.

Conservatives Gird Their Loins as Becerra Gets Confirmed

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate narrowly confirmed Xavier Becerra as secretary for Health and Human Services (HHS), 50 to 49. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) joined the Democrats in voting for Becerra. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), who would almost certainly have voted for Becerra, was absent.

Becerra’s confirmation sends a chilling message to pro-life Americans and Americans of faith. Yet conservatives aren’t taking it lying down. As soon as the Senate confirmed Becerra, Republicans and conservative groups announced that they would keep up the pressure to fight for the religious liberty Becerra threatens.

Becerra has no medical experience, but he has a long track record of promoting leftist social issues and silencing those who disagree. As California attorney general, Becerra continued the prosecution of pro-life journalist David Daleiden (after Kamala Harris began it). Becerra also vigorously defended a California law that would have forced pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise abortion — before the Supreme Court struck it down. Becerra also targeted the Little Sisters of the Poor after the Trump administration provided an exemption for the nuns the Obamacare contraception mandate.

Becerra also sued the Trump HHS after the agency struck down an Obama-era rule forcing transgender ideology in health care. He also furthered Kamala Harris’s policy of demanding that nonprofit organizations turn over their donor lists, which would likely expose the donors to harassment, especially since the California attorney general’s office has previously leaked this kind of donor information.

After Becerra’s confirmation, conservatives girded their loins to face the threat.

“The Senate has just narrowly confirmed an extremist, Xavier Becerra, to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Kristen Waggoner, general counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom, which represented the pro-life pregnancy centers before the Supreme Court in a case against Becerra, said in a statement.

“From his new role, we expect Mr. Becerra will continue his attack on the civil liberties of those with whom he disagrees. However, his confirmation will not stop ADF from our steadfast commitment to advocate for religious liberty, free speech, the protection of life, and parental rights, even if it means meeting him once again at the U.S. Supreme Court,” Waggoner added.

The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), the pro-life pregnancy center coalition that successfully sued Becerra at the Supreme Court, warned Becerra that it would gladly defend the pro-life movement’s free speech in court again, if necessary.

“We will continue to protect the free speech rights of our movement’s leaders as they support women and save lives across our nation,” Anne O’Connor, NIFLA’s vice president of legal affairs, said in a statement. “Becerra will rue the day he attempts to use his position in the U.S. government to attack pregnancy centers again. His anti-life bullying will not be tolerated.”

“Becerra’s extreme views are a threat to women’s health, pregnancy centers and free speech,” O’Connor added. “See you in court,” she warned.

“Xavier Becerra is a dangerous ideologue who has made a career of attacking long-held religious freedom protections and using his office to pursue a partisan political agenda,” First Liberty Institute Deputy General Counsel Justin Butterfield said in a statement. “His policy position as Attorney General in seeking to force the public disclosure of donors to non-profit organizations is so extreme that organizations from the ACLU the PETA submitted briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court challenging him.  By choosing Xavier Becerra as his Secretary of HHS, President Biden has sent a clear message that people of faith are not respected under his administration.”

Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, noted Becerra’s heinous attacks on pro-life Americans and declared that “pro-life Americans will be keeping a close eye on Becerra’s agenda and will continue to speak out in defense of women and the unborn.”

“Becerra isn’t right for the job because in the middle of a global pandemic the Department of Health and Human Services needs to be focused on health and human services. Becerra is a culture warrior who made his name in bloody-knuckled politics by bullying nuns. This confirmation fight is over, but I’m going to keep working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make sure that Congress defends First Amendment freedoms when bureaucrats and regulators put partisan agendas ahead of constitutional protections,” Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) declared.

By nominating Becerra, Joe Biden confirmed that his presidency represents a threat to religious freedom. Americans of conscience should be shocked and horrified that Biden would nominate the radical Becerra with his track record of silencing dissent. By doing this, Biden exposed his true colors and that should alienate millions of Americans.

Make no mistake: Joe Biden is no moderate, and Becerra is one more glaring piece of evidence to that effect. Americans need to unite against the president’s dangerous agenda to silence conservatives, and conservatives should gird their loins for the coming battles ahead.

Montana, Texas, 19 Other States Sue Biden for Canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline

Montana attorney general on Keystone pipeline lawsuit

Rumble — 21 state attorneys general have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over Joe Biden’s executive order to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. On Wall to Wall, Greta spoke with Montana’s Attorney General Austin Knudsen to hear more about that suit.

Legal Insurrection reports that 21 states are suing to block Joe Biden’s executive order that halted the Keystone XL pipeline.

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and 19 other state attorneys general filed suit today in United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas to block President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional and illegitimate attempt to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline (KXLP).

Despite several exhaustive studies undertaken by the Obama State Department that concluded the Keystone XL pipeline would boost the U.S economy, create American jobs, and safely transport oil throughout the country without increasing greenhouse gas emissions, Biden revoked the permit via executive order mere hours after reciting his oath of office. However, he did not have the power to do so.

The substance of the lawsuit is straightforward. Congress, not the president, regulates interstate commerce. Biden violated that when he unilaterally blocked the construction of the pipeline. As has been Biden’s MO since the inauguration, he failed to even consult Congress or any of the states affected by the decision. He has done the same with regard to the border, and is now facing a massive crisis of his own making there.

The science does not back Biden on this decision. Pipelines have proven to be the safest and cleanest means of moving oil and natural gas from where they’re produced to where they’re refined and used. The United States has about 3 million miles of pipelines under our feet. Those pipelines deliver energy every day without incident the vast majority of the time. They also keep trucks and trains off the roads and rails that would be delivering the oil and gas, keeping some emissions from ever getting into the air.

Canceling the pipeline isn’t about the project’s safety or the science of energy delivery. It’s about attacking the U.S. energy industry.

The states launching the lawsuit say Biden’s unilateral cancelation of the Keystone has killed 42,000 jobs. Unions opposed the decision, but Biden did not consult them either.

In the LI post, William Jacobson makes a very good point.

If the roles were reversed, Democrat activist groups would have been in court the next day all across the country hoping some judge somewhere would agree with them and issue an injunction. That’s what happened in the travel cases, so many cases were filed in so many different district courts that opponents only needed to win once. It didn’t matter if Trump won most of them, even a single nationwide injunction stalled things for weeks or months until it got to the Supreme Court, where eventually Trump won.

He’s urging Republicans to be quicker about filing suit to block Biden’s unilateral executive orders. He’s right. In the Keystone case, Biden issued the executive order on his first day. It’s taken nearly three months to get the lawsuit going. Since that time, construction has shut down and John Kerry arrogantly told displaced pipeline workers to go get jobs building solar panels.

They would have to move to China to obtain such jobs, as the vast majority of the world’s solar panels are built there, not the United States.

Congressional Republicans are limited in what they can do to block Biden’s executive orders. That’s one of the reasons he issues them instead of consulting with Congress as the Constitution intends. The states will have to do the heavy lifting, and they will have to be quicker about doing so than they have been thus far.
