A judge found illegal migrant Jose Ibarra guilty on Wednesday of murdering 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley, while she was running on the University of Georgia campus on February 22nd.
The 26-year-old Ibarra was found guilty of murder by Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Judge Patrick Haggard and other charges that relate to Riley’s death. Ibarra had waived his right to a jury trial, which meant that it was ultimately up to Haggard to decide his fate.
The trial began Friday, and prosecutors called over a dozen law enforcement officers, Riley’s roommates and a woman who lived in the same apartment as Ibarra. Defense attorneys called a police officer, a jogger and one of Ibarra’s neighbors on Tuesday and rested their case Wednesday morning.
Prosecutor Sheila Ross told the judge that Ibarra encountered Riley while she was out running on the University of Georgia campus on February 22nd and killed her during a struggle.
Defense attorney Dustin Kirby stated that Riley’s death was a tragedy and that the evidence was graphic and disturbing in the case. However, he said there was not sufficient evidence to prove that Ibarra killed Riley.
He now faces life behind bars as the sentencing is set for 12:30 pm ET on Wednesday.

Normally, Aurora, a suburb of Denver, is quiet, but recent months have seen the city, like many others throughout America, plagued by intense gang violence linked to “Tren de Aragua.” This once peaceful town of 390,000 residents now faces a violent crime wave as the transnational criminal organization from Venezuela has infiltrated and seized control of several apartment complexes, overwhelming the community.

Trump, during his visit to Aurora this weekend, promised decisive action to address the situation, starting with a tough stance on asylum seekers. If re-elected, Trump vows to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which grants the president power to arrest or deport citizens from hostile countries in times of war. According to Trump, this rarely used law will be key to dismantling the criminal networks created by illegal immigrants, particularly those responsible for gang violence.
The former president emphasized that restoring safety in places like Colorado is paramount. “Colorado will be safe again, and we will do it quickly,” Trump stated. He slammed the Biden administration, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of failing miserably as the so-called “border czar.” Trump charged Harris with opening the floodgates to criminal elements from across the globe. “Kamala has brought an army of foreign criminals into this country and placed them in your communities, where they harm innocent Americans,” Trump declared. The former president’s remarks hit on a key theme for his campaign: the existential threat illegal immigration poses to American sovereignty and safety.

Much like how Russia and Islamic regimes are using mass migration to destabilize Europe, Trump warned that the same playbook is being used against the U.S. “The open borders are not an accident. Kamala Harris, in her role as border czar, has not only failed to address the crisis but, as Trump argues, is complicit in its escalation. Her policies have allowed dangerous gangs like Tren de Aragua to establish themselves in U.S. cities, threatening the lives of Americans. Trump’s criticism of Harris is in line with his broader indictment of left-wing leaders who he believes are complicit in the deterioration of national security by supporting open-border policies.
Tough Measures and Deportations
To combat the rising violence and the illegal immigrant criminal networks, Trump proposed concrete measures if he is re-elected. He announced the formation of elite federal units comprising agents from ICE, Border Patrol, and other federal agencies tasked exclusively with identifying and deporting criminal gang members among illegal immigrants. “We’re going to go after them until there’s not one left in this country,” Trump assured his supporters.
Trump has also floated the idea of imposing harsh penalties on deported immigrants who attempt to re-enter the United States. Specifically, he proposed a 10-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole for any individual who returns illegally after deportation. The measures he laid out—mass deportations, tougher penalties, and elite enforcement units—are all designed to prevent the U.S. from becoming yet another victim of failed left-wing immigration policies. For Trump, the stakes couldn’t be higher. “We either protect our borders, or we lose our country,” Trump concluded, stressing the upcoming election as a battle for the very soul of America.
Community leaders in a working class NYC neighborhood are demanding that army national guard troops be deployed to clean up their streets, which are overrun by what critics say is gang related criminal activity, which threatens the lives of locals and law abiding asylum seekers alike. After serving 20 years in state prison for murder, former gangbanger Tyrone Muhammad never expected to return to the city’s tough South Side to find Venezuelan migrants and criminal Tren de Aragua gang moving in. New York Post reporter Dana Kennedy shares this story. But Muhammad, 53, who’s gone straight and run a street patrol and violence prevention program called Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, says Venezuelan criminal gangs flooding shelters and taking over apartment buildings are the last straw for the struggling African-American community. He says they are furious at seeing government money going to what they call “non-citizens.” “It is impossible to release gang members and criminals into our country through the borders and broken walls and infiltrate them in our community that’s already impoverished and broken,” Muhammad told The Post last week on the O Block, a stretch along South King Drive that’s considered the most dangerous in the city.

Even though many mainstream news networks have been working around the clock to dispute claims that gangs made up of illegal foreigners have been wreaking havoc on apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, in addition to the state’s Democrat governor labeling these claims “imagination,” the truth has finally come out now, thanks to the Aurora Police Department.
Kamala Harris and the ABC News moderators even attempted to mock Donald Trump for bringing up the topic during Tuesday’s debate.
“These are the people that [Vice President Kamala Harris] and [President Joe Biden] let into our country. And they’re destroying our country. They’re dangerous. "They're at the highest level of criminality,” Trump said at Tuesday’s debate, referencing the Aurora gang members.
Reports regarding members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua residing in Aurora and carrying out violent crimes against native members of the community and other migrants living in the area have now been thoroughly investigated by the Aurora Police Department.

Larry Medina
Larry Medina was arrested July 10 by Aurora police in connection with a July 2 felony menacing at Whispering Pines Condominiums, 1357 Helena Street. The victim was reported to police Medina pointed a firearm and threatened to kill them. Medina is a documented member of TdA.
Johnardy Pacheco-Chirinos
Johnardy Pacheco-Chirinos was arrested March 28 by Aurora police on a first-degree assault warrant outside Adams District Court. The warrant stemmed from an assault in November 2023 at Fitzsimons Place apartments, 1568 Nome St. Jhonardy also is suspected of being involved in the July 28 nonfatal shooting at Fitzsimons Place apartments and was arrested by Aurora police in connection with that case on July 29. His involvement in the shooting remains under investigation. Johnardy Pacheco-Chirinos is a documented member of TdA.
Johnnarty Dejesus Pacheco-Chirinos

Luis Miguel Calzadilla-Rojas
Luis Miguel Calzadilla-Rojas was arrested the evening of Jan. 3 by Aurora police in connection with a nonfatal shooting that occurred earlier in the day in front of the Arapahoe County Probation Office, 15400 E. 14th Place. Calzadilla-Rojas is a documented member of TdA.
Yorman Camilo Sangronis-Garcia
Yorman Camilo Sangronis-Garcia was involved in consensual contact with Aurora police about a report of a hit-and-run crash on Feb. 4 at Whispering Pines Condominiums, 15423 E. 13th Ave. Sangronis-Garcia and has not been involved in any other contacts with Aurora police. Juan Carlos Mejia-Espana
Juan Carlos Mejia-Espana was arrested March 17 by Aurora police following a domestic dispute with a weapon at Whispering Pines Condominiums, 15483 E. 13th Ave. Mejia-Espana is a documented member of TdA.
Carlos Aranguren-Mayora
Carlos Aranguren-Mayora has had numerous encounters with Aurora police officers and law enforcement agencies throughout the metro area. He faces a total of 38 charges in five active court cases in Adams, Arapahoe and Boulder district courts for crimes dating to December 2023. Aranguren-Mayora is a documented member of TdA.
Robert Daniel Mora-Marquez
Robert Daniel Mora-Marquez was arrested April 17 by Aurora police in connection with an April 4 dispute and assault over unpaid rent money in the 1600 block of Lima Street. Mora-Marquez is also a suspect in nonfatal shooting on June 28 in the 400 block of Nile Street. Mora-Marquez is a documented member of TdA.

Jose Miguel Reyes-Perez was arrested May 22 by Aurora police on an outstanding warrant outside Jefferson District Court for aggravated assault, menacing and motor vehicle theft. Reyes-Perez is a documented member of TdA.
Nevertheless, after the police department’s report was released, the city’s official website put out another statement where they essentially walked back Gov. Polis’s previous claim while sugar-coating the situation.
“As for the perception and reality of public safety in Aurora, please understand that issues experienced at a select few properties do not apply to the city as a whole or large portions of it. TdA has not taken over the city. The overstated claims fueled by social media and through select news organizations are simply not true. Again, TdA’s presence in Aurora is limited to specific properties, all of which the city has been addressing in various ways for months,” the city’s website stated.
