A $237 billion state budget that includes measures to encourage home construction and combat unauthorized marijuana stores was approved by New York lawmakers over the weekend.

The package addresses a recent surge of immigrants, expedites the closing of some state prisons, and maintains the policy of allowing people to purchase takeout drinks during the pandemic.

The state Senate and Assembly approved a number of budget bills on Saturday. The budget now goes to Governor Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.), who is anticipated to sign it into law.

Additionally, $2.4 billion has been set aside by state authorities to assist with the large number of immigrants in New York City’s homeless shelters. The funds will be used for the immigrant population’s housing, legal needs, and medical treatment.

Lawmakers also took action in response to the growing number of unauthorized cannabis shops in New York City. The state has found it difficult to close the stores, which have proliferated throughout the Big Apple, due to bureaucratic obstacles.

The budget also contains provisions that would make it easier for local law enforcement to close down establishments suspected of selling marijuana illegally while their legal cases are pending, which would help address the issue. Previously, the state was solely responsible for the majority of enforcement, and these types of establishments could remain open while a drawn-out appeals process took place.

Hochul and leading legislative leaders engaged in private negotiations that centered mostly around a comprehensive plan to stimulate the state’s housing market.

Developers who agree to rent a share of the units in new buildings below the market rate will receive a tax benefit under the plan. Though not as extensive as many advocates had hoped, the agreement also contains protections against evictions and unjustified rent increases for some residents.

Governor Hochul made a statement after the budget’s passage, saying:

“In my State of the state, I promised New Yorkers we’d fight to build more housing, improve education and protect public safety — and that’s exactly what our budget is going to do.

“This budget agreement represents the most significant improvement in housing policy in three generations. This includes transformative investments in health care and education that will put our state on the path to fiscal stability. It will end co-pays for insulin, establish first-in-the-nation paid prenatal leave, and launch the EmpireAI consortium. This budget cracks down on retail theft and gives us new tools to shut down illicit cannabis storefronts. It helps the children of New York City by extending mayoral accountability for public schools. We got it all done without raising income taxes by a single cent.

“I’m grateful to Speaker Heastie, Leader Stewart-Cousins and my colleagues in the Legislature for their collaboration on this agreement, and look forward to continuing to work together.”

During floor debates, state Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt (R-N.Y.) attacked the proposal, claiming it would attract more illegal migrants to New York.

“We made a lot of tough decisions in this budget,” Ortt said. “But 2.4 billion goes a long way, and I just wonder what that could have done in other parts of the budget for legal New Yorkers.”

Additionally, in an effort to conserve money in light of the state’s decreasing prison population, New York will expedite the closure of up to five state prisons. The governor will decide which jails to close by March of next year. The state’s corrections administration reports that since 2011, the state has closed two dozen prisons due to vacant beds, saving approximately $442 million a year.

The budget also included provisions to allow movie theaters to sell hard liquor, extend the pandemic-era sale of to-go alcoholic drinks, and allow New York City to lower its speed limits. These measures would also provide paid time off during pregnancy.

The state office responsible for drafting laws for the Legislature was affected by a cyberattack, which delayed the budget’s finalization by almost three weeks from its planned deadline of April 1st.

Senate Border Deal Will Also Legalize All the Afghans Biden Brought to U.S.

SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2024/02/senate-border-deal-will-also-legalize-all-the-afghans-biden-brought-to-u-s; republished below in full, unedited, for informational, educational, & research purposes:

At least 11,110 had fake birthdays.

Biden brought tens of thousands of Afghans to America. These were not for the most part “allies” or anyone who had worked with us. They were just the ones who made it to the airport and if anyone vetted them, it was only the Taliban who controlled access.

Biden brought them in and the Senate keeps trying to legalize them even though there’s no basis for it.

At the last count, around 36,000 Afghans or 40% of the “refugees” had no legal basis for being evacuated even after the Biden administration and its congressional allies, both Democrat and Republican, watered down standards for applying for SIV visas so much that virtually any Afghan employed in any capacity by any contractors, charities, or even the media qualified.

The proposed Afghan Adjustment Act would grant the Afghan migrants, at least 36,000 of them, permanent legal residency and put them on a pathway to demanding citizenship.

Tens of thousands of Afghans have been turned loose on “humanitarian parole” for two years, which gives the refugee resettlement organizations handling their cases plenty of time to figure out some basis for applying for a more permanent asylum, but they don’t want to follow the law.

Why not?

Despite the virtual lack of vetting, hundreds of Afghan migrants are being flagged as security risks. 50 believed to be security risks were already released into the country and the majority of them are in the wind. Four have already been involved in sexual assault cases. Considering how much the Afghans have misbehaved in so little time, refugee resettlement contractors are understandably worried that much more damaging information will come out after two years.

All of that was in 2022. It’s two years later and the clock is ticking. And as part of the border deal, they’ll be legalized.

The bill would also provide a pathway to conditional, lawful, permanent residency for vetted Afghan nationals who were admitted or paroled into the U.S. after July 2021.

NBC News repeats the ‘Afghan Allies’ lie. The Afghan allies got visas. They are not allies. They’re Afghan migrants flown in and dumped into America.

And they’ve been making life worse for Americans ever since they got here.

Vetting is a joke. Literally.

Vermont Resettled Somalis, Shootings Are Up 185%~Half the shootings in Burlington, VT were linked to immigrants.

[SPECIAL JANUARY PROMOTION: Spend $50+ In The FPM Store And Receive A Free Copy Of “Final Battle” By David Horowitz.]

Shootings are up 185% in Vermont from 2021 to 2022.

“We are not used to this level of violence in Vermont,” Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger complained after the city racked up 5 murders. That may not sound like much, but it gives the normally sleepy city, where Bernie Sanders got his start, a higher murder rate than Philly.

When James Eaton, a mentally unstable leftist who had praised Hamas, shot and wounded three Arab Muslim men outside his home, the media eagerly diverted attention from the crime wave to the shooter, who was conveniently white, while falsely blaming it on ‘Islamophobia’.

The discredited hoax was not only trying to rally support for terrorists, but also to distract attention from the real perpetrators of the violence that has overtaken Bernie’s old city.

The shooters in Burlington, VT are much more likely to be Muslim male teens.

Another recent shooting out of Burlington made the national news when Hussein Mohamed, the underage son of Somali immigrants who don’t speak English, shot and killed Madden: a local 14-year-old boy. It was reported that “state police were able to make an arrest despite at least two eyewitnesses from the car providing multiple false statements about the crime.”

The murder wave in Burlington was touched off in 2022 when Abdiaziz Abdhikadir, 19, shot and killed Hussein Mubarak, 21.

Abdiaziz Abdhikadir had been part of a Somali Muslim refugee family profiled by the New York Times under the headline “U.S. a Place of Miracles for Somali Refugees.” Of that family, one son was convicted of assault with a firearm, another of “aggravated assault for shooting a man in November 2020” and Abdiaziz Abdhikadir was the grandson of that same family.

Abdhikadir had allegedly become a member of a Somali gang that stole cars while “wearing surgical gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints behind” and two of them had attacked a man in broad daylight while wearing ski masks.

Mubarak had been born in a refugee camp before being his family was resettled in America where his “older and younger siblings” spent time in jail, while he turned to selling drugs.

The reporting on the incident and other violent encounters in Burlington are littered with mentions of drug dealing, stolen cars and guns, shootings in garages and names like Abdirahman Mohamed, Ahmed Mohamed, Badal Khadka and Abukar Hilowle.

Abukar Hilowle was accused of a few shootings, including one in which he allegedly shot the driver of the car he was in, resulting in a car crash, and another in which he shot two middle-aged American men on the street, one of whom had told him to “chill”, but the Muslim perpetrator claimed that he was responding to “racial slurs” by his two victims.

In 2022 it was reported that, “by mid-summer, about half of the city’s gunfire incidents were connected to a small group of new American young men.” The inaccurate euphemism “new Americans“ was being used to refer to Somali and other often Muslim African immigrants.

The perps are usually repeat offenders who wander in and out of the justice system.

In 2020, Bonide Badibanga was arrested for aggravated assault during a fight over drugs. By 2022, when he was accused of trying to shoot his brother, he had racked up 47 police contacts and 11 arrests. Despite being briefly charged with attempted murder, his family refused to testify and he received a plea deal last year for time served.

Mayor Miro Weinberger however has claimed that the role of migrant settler teens in the wave of violence is not “particularly relevant”.

When the three Arab Muslim men were shot, State’s Attorney Sarah George rushed to claim, without a shred of evidence, that, “there is no question this was a hateful act.” But the Soros DA  has been accused of giving violent drug gang members a pass for the sake of social justice.

Burlington’s crime level rose sharply after the City Council had voted to defund 30% of the police department during the peak of the BLM race riots.

Burlington City Councilor Ali Dieng, an African Muslim immigrant who has run for mayor, has attacked the police while introducing resolutions to boycott Israel and has urged funding for social services to explore the “root causes” of the violence by members of his community.

Tens of thousands of dollars were allocated to the Vermont New American Advisory Council (VNAAC), a group in which Ali serves as a secretary, which were used to pay for 15 hours of group therapy with “a therapist of African descent” along with “listening sessions” in which it was determined that the foreign population in Burlington had a “deep distrust” of the police.

“We all know in the 21st century, black people in this country continue to live in fear of losing their lives at the hands of law enforcement, or members of the white supremacy groups,” Ali Dieng had claimed after a resolution ordering the flying of the BLM flag at City Hall in 2020.

The reality is that black people in Burlington are being killed by other black people.

Ali Dieng has spent his political career alternating between falsely accusing America, the country that took him and his people in, of racism and accusing Israel of violence. The actual violence and racism are coming from the Muslim immigrants hiding behind those accusations.

When Hussein Mohamed killed Madden Gouveia, a 14-year-old local boy, local eyewitnesses attempted to lie to the police about what happened. The NAACP and other local leftist groups rallied for Mohamed who was portrayed as the victim. Meanwhile Gouveia’s family lost their son.

“Thankfully, through God’s work, (Madden) came to my house a week ago,” Ricky Worthen, his brother, wrote. “He walked to Battery Park with me and my daughter and spent two hours with us. I know now that was God’s way of showing me, I should cherish every moment and from this day forward I will”

While Madden’s family were thinking of God, Allah was on trial in Vermont.

Allah had been caught with fentanyl: the drug at the heart of the overdose epidemic and also of much of the local Muslim drug dealing and violence in the city. The police had busted Zahir Allah, a black convert to Islam, just outside Burlington, and he was tried and sentenced to less than three years in prison for trafficking in the deadly drug.

Muslim drug gangs are killing each other while fighting over territory in Burlington VT and across much of New England. And increasingly spreading their wave of terror across America.

While certainly not all shootings or murders in Burlington, VT involve Somalis, it is startling to see how many do, especially since the city has a relatively small Somali settler population.

Only a few hundred Somali Muslims were resettled in Burlington with horrifying consequences.

The question in Burlington, VT and across a nation under siege by hate, extremism, violence, crime and terror spread by first, second and third generation ‘refugees’ is how much more can we take, how many more lives can we lose and how long can we go on living this way?

Maine: Brand-New Apartments For Illegal Migrants Unveiled, Paid For By State Taxpayers

In Brunswick, Maine, a new taxpayer-funded initiative aims to give undocumented migrants and asylum seekers free lodging for two years as the nation continues to struggle with feeding, housing, and supporting the influx of incoming foreigners.

In recent months, the surge in the number of illegal immigrants entering the United States has only continued to rise, which has presented a plethora of difficulties for officials in U.S. cities everywhere in regards to allocating resources for them.

Incoming and residing migrants have complained to reporters that they are having trouble finding consistent accommodation, especially in areas where there is already a housing scarcity for tax-paying American citizens.

While the majority of them have been lodging in hotels and shelters around the nation, one town in Maine is starting a new migrant program that will provide a number of free accommodations to those who apply, first come, first served.

According to Maine news station WCSH-TV, Brunswick, Maine, wants to offer at least 60 brand-new, furnished apartments for incoming migrants, 24 of which are already constructed. The apartments will be designed especially for “undocumented [foreigners] who are waiting up to a year for work permits.”

The Maine State Housing Authority is in charge of the program, the local outlet reported.

The state will reportedly use money authorized by the state legislature in order to cover the cost of rent for all migrants interested in entering the free-housing program, WGME reported. State officials say that the program “has enough funds to cover rent for up to two years.” However, if migrants find employment, they will pay “thirty percent of their rent.”

After the two years of the program end for migrant families and solo individuals utilizing the free immigrant housing, the company Developers Collaborative will reportedly provide market-rate and affordable housing units that foreigners without documentation can apply for.

It has also not been determined whether Maine officials will eventually plan to change the rules of the program, allowing a “longer stay time than two years, if necessary.”

The Maine State Housing Authority’s executive director, Dan Brennan, told WCSH that the initiative is a “unique solution to a very exciting opportunity in our state.”

“We have thousands of folks coming to Maine who want to make Maine home. We’re doing everything we can to help that situation,” he told the news station.

When the official waitlist for Brunswick’s free-housing apartments was announced at local shelters and hotels that were housing migrants in May 2023, more than 250 families applied, forcing officials to push back the opening date in order to build even more apartment units, according to The Times Record.

Brunswick’s population is around 21,931 inhabitants, according to 2022 statistics from the U.S. census bureau.

Biden Paid $2.75 Million in Cash for Beach House After Chinese Shakedown

AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta
Joe Biden’s summer beach house in Rehoboth, Delaware, where he has spent much of his presidency on vacation, may have been paid for with Chinese bribe money.

According to an investigation by DailyMail.com, Joe Biden bought the home in 2017 for roughly $2.75 million in cash. What makes this purchase suspicious is that it came mere weeks after Hunter Biden’s infamous text to Henry Zhao, an executive at the Chinese oil company CEFC. According to a WhatsApp conversation from July 30, 2017, Hunter threatened Zhao to pay a promised bribe while invoking his father’s name, insisting that Joe Biden was there with him as he wrote the message.

“I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Hunter told Zhao. “And Z if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang or the chairman I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.”

Hunter ended the call by saying, “Ok my friend – I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father. I sure hope whatever it is you are doing is very, very, very important.”

A photo from Hunter Biden’s laptop confirmed that Hunter was indeed at Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Del. home that day, making it extremely likely that Joe Biden was indeed at least at the home when Hunter sent the texts.

House Oversight Committee Chairman calls the cash purchase of the home suspicious.

“The fact that Joe Biden purchased a luxurious beach house around the same time his family was receiving millions from a CCP-linked company raises many questions that need to be answered,” Comer told The Daily Mail. “The House Oversight Committee will continue to follow the money trail to determine the extent of President Biden’s involvement in his family’s influence-peddling schemes and its impact on our national security.”

The White House long denied that Joe Biden ever even spoke with his son about his foreign business dealings, but evidence uncovered by the House Oversight Committee eventually prompted them to change their rhetoric and say instead that Joe Biden wasn’t “in business” with his son, conceding at the least that Joe Biden had indeed spoken with Hunter about his business.

According to the Daily Mail, it was originally claimed that the home was purchased with part of the Bidens’ advance from a multi-book deal.

At the time of Joe’s Rehoboth house purchase, local news site Delaware Online reported that it had been bought ‘using part of their advance from a multi-book deal’.

But even if the money for the home came from the $11 million he and Jill earned that year according to their tax filings, there are still large discrepancies in the President’s financial disclosures that remain unexplained.

An analysis published last year by DailyMail.com shows a $5.2 million discrepancy between his IRS filings and his Office of Government Ethics disclosures for the same period.

The discrepancy is awfully close to the $5 million Biden was allegedly bribed by the owner of Burisma back in 2016, while Biden was vice president.

Chicago Gives Extra $9K In Rental Assistance To Immigrants In Need Of Housing, On Top Of $60M For Staffing

Chicago is providing an additional $9,000 in rental assistance to immigrants in need of housing accommodations, having just paid a medical company an astounding $7.2 million for staffing local shelters for just one week, according to official documents released to the press.

After more than 18,000 illegal immigrants traveled to the state in recent months in order to find their new homes, the Windy City is now trying to house over 11,000 illegals in shelters and 4,000 who are currently sleeping at police stations and the O’Hare International Airport.

Chicago Deputy Chief of Staff Cristina Pacione-Zayas said that the state of Illinois will continue assisting with paying costs for temporary housing for migrants, including the additional $9,000 in rental aid over a six-month period to free up much-needed space.

She claims that the money will help with moving expenses and help immigrants receive government-funded apartment “starter kits,” which would contain furnishing supplies and more.

In order to assist immigrants in finding temporary lodging, the city has also allocated up to $4 million, while the state of Illinois has allotted an additional $38 million.

“That rent lasts for six months, and ideally people would have started their legal process, secured legal work authorization, and be able to sustain that apartment,” said Pacione-Zayas. “I guess the payment toward the landlord is based on market rate, it’s based on the configuration of the apartment. And so it varies from place to place.”

Meanwhile, according to NBC 5, a recent investigation found that Kansas-based “Favorite Healthcare Staffing” charged the city more than $7.2 million to provide additional staff to immigrant shelters for only four weeks.

After hearing about the staff’s high-paying invoices in December, the city seemed to lower hourly rates. However, the lowest staff rates remained at $50 per hour, while the highest was $156 per hour before overtime.

$1.4 million was allotted for the old Wadsworth School, $1.6 million for the Inn of Chicago, and $1.2 million for the Social Club shelter.

Furthermore, more buses from Texas were reported to be arriving carrying more asylum seekers, and the situation is not getting any better, local Chicagoans say.

41 more buses carrying asylum seekers arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border only last week.

This week, a border visit by Mayor Johnson (D-Ill.) and other city council members is already scheduled.

“We need to go assess the situation,” Johnson said. “This is serious. And I’ve been saying it. I mean this ain’t the first time you’ve heard me say how serious this dynamic is.”

Texas has been the primary source of immigrants arriving in Chicago over the past year, mostly at the command of Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas). The city’s current services were strained as more immigrants from a number of countries entered the U.S.

Officials acknowledged that the city needed greater assistance from the state and federal governments but failed to identify longer-term housing solutions.

Many immigrants come from Venezuela, where millions of people have fallen into poverty as a result of a political social, and economic disaster over the previous ten years. At least 7.3 million people have emigrated, braving a perilous journey to the U.S., Chicago officials said.

However, the influx of immigrants and the temporary shelters set up have angered many Chicago locals.

Following complaints and protests from Chicagoans who said that the facility had originally offered a safe area for the city’s youth, officials abruptly abandoned plans last week to convert a park’s football fieldhouse into an additional immigrant shelter.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) has now pleaded with President Joe Biden to steer foreign asylum seekers away from his state. Ironically, just two years earlier, Pritzker had referred to his state as the “Most Welcoming State in the Nation” and maintained that he would advance immigration rights.

Mexican President Calls Biden’s Border Wall a Publicity Stunt

Mexican President Calls Biden's Border Wall a Publicity Stunt
Townhall Media/Julio Rosas
During his regular morning presser on Friday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he does not think that the new border wall will even be built, adding that the Biden administration doesn’t even want to build it.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Lopez Obrador called the wall “pure publicity.” That presser followed a Thursday visit by a delegation from the U.S. State Department, which was led by Antony Blinken. Lopez Obrador commented that the administration does not even want to build the new sections of the wall. He added that during the meeting, the Mexican delegation said it does not believe the migration problem will be solved with a wall, saying, “We’ve always spoken about tending to the root causes.”

Lopez Obrador has a point. In another story, the Free Beacon said that on Thursday, Biden stated that the administration is legally obligated to go through with the construction since the money for the project had been appropriated during the Trump administration and could not be used for anything else. Biden stated:

The money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to redirect that money. They didn’t. They wouldn’t, and in the meantime, there’s nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what it was appropriated. I can’t stop that.

This stands in stark contrast to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ statement earlier in the week in which he said there was “an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries.” Of course, that statement stands in stark contrast to one he made in 2021 that he did not agree with building a wall.

Never one to pass up an opportunity for a good old-fashioned tantrum, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) vented her spleen on Thursday, calling the planned construction a “cruel policy.”

I know that the congresswoman objects to the wall on principle, but she should reconsider. It is after Labor Day, and she needs someplace where she can wear that white dress for photo ops.

What we are seeing here is a classic example of this administration’s disorganization. It may be conjecture, but I suspect that when Biden’s people learned that the funding situation was non-negotiable, they needed a way to spin it, hence Mayorkas’ alarmist language. The administration may have thought that this was an opportunity to woo voters who are wary or angry about the president and his record, with the bonus of being able to tweak Trump by completing something he did not.

Then the wall would not be completed, and the blame would fall on Republican obstructionists. But someone, somewhere, realized that renewed construction would infuriate much of the base, although Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) may have privately gotten her hopes up. And so tactics were switched, gears were ground, and the message was reversed.

And no matter what, the wall will not be built.

Curtis Sliwa & Residents Protest Possible Migrant Shelters Coming to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn 10.3.23

BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn - Curtis Sliwa, Ari Cagan, Scott Lobaido, politicians, & Bay Ridge residents gathered for a pre-emptive rally to protest migrants potentially coming to Bay Ridge. According to Curtis Sliwa his anonymous informants in City Hall told him that 4 locations are being considered: Shore Road Park, 86/7th Motel, Field between Poly Prep & VA Hospital, & US Army's Fort Hamilton. According to Justin Brannon: "As some of you may already know, there is a rally planned in Bay Ridge tonight led by washed-up comic book villain & serial liar, Curtis Sliwa, opposing the establishment of a migrant shelter in Bay Ridge. But here’s the thing: there have never been any plans to put a migrant shelter in Bay Ridge. This is a made-up controversy meant to distract and divide us. They’re staging a rally to stop something that isn’t even happening. My desperate MAGA opponent Ari Kagan is behind this. Why? Because he has literally nothing else to run on. No record. No results. No accomplishments. No vision. Nothing. So he wants to stoke fear and anger to win votes. He will do anything to get elected, stay in power, and secure jobs for his friends, even selling out his loyal Democrat constituents and becoming a Republican. Let me make it crystal clear: Fort Hamilton Army Base – the only active-duty military installation in New York City – is not being used to house migrants. I’ve spoken directly with Governor Hochul, Mayor Adams, as well as representatives from the Department of Defense and the Department of the Army, and it was never even on the table. Shore Road Park is also not being used as a migrant camp. These are all lies. But that’s not the point of this rally. My opponents don’t care about Bay Ridge. They don’t care about migrants. They don’t care about you. The point of this is to stoke fear and win political points at the expense of our community. We know that this will devolve into hate speech, violence, and a lot of misinformation. This is what we're up against in this election. Deliberate lies, blatant scare tactics, and unabashed fear-mongering serve only to divide our community instead of strengthening it. It's sad to see, but it only underscores the importance of why we must win in November. This is what happens when a political candidate has no record of results and no vision. Ari Kagan is a demagogue who wants us to fight with each other. Ari Kagan wants to divide us up. But we won't let this stand. And it is crucial that every single voter in our district knows exactly what we've accomplished and what we plan to achieve further."

The Biden Administration announced that it will be giving nearly half a million Venezuelans already living in the United States temporary residence and work permits.

On Wednesday, the U.S. government announced that it will allow at least 472,000 Venezuelans to remain in the United States and work legally for 18 months due to growing instability and unsafe conditions in Venezuela.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement in which they said they will be extending and redesignating the “Temporary Protected Status (TPS)” for Venezuelans who were in the United States before July 31st, 2023, granting them temporary protection from deportation as well as access to work permits.

According to the statement, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made the decision “based on Venezuela’s increased instability and lack of safety.”

“As a result, an additional approximately hundreds of thousands Venezuelan nationals across the country will be immediately eligible to apply for work authorization. TPS provides temporary protection from removal, as well as employment authorization for eligible Venezuelan nationals,” the department said.

According to reports, under the current classification, there are around 242,700 Venezuelan TPS recipients. However, due to the redesignation, approximately 472,000 additional Venezuelans living in the United States may also petition for protection from removal.

Congress established the program for foreign nationals who cannot safely return to their home country due to natural catastrophes, military conflicts, or other extreme circumstances.

Governor Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) praised the administration’s move, citing a “productive conversation” she had with President Joe Biden on Tuesday night.

“I’m grateful the federal government has acted so speedily to grant one of our top priorities: providing Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelan asylum seekers and migrants who have already arrived in this country,” the Democratic governor said in a statement. “There’s more work to do as we address this crisis, but the State of New York is prepared to immediately begin the process of signing people up for work authorization and getting them into jobs so they can become self-sufficient.”

The city of Denver has reached almost $25 million in costs in order to shelter immigrants as the number of illegals entering the United States continues to grow.

This marks the latest financial hit that liberal cities are encountering as they deal with the immigrant crisis.

Denver city officials declared in an email that the expenses for immigrant housing is approximately $24.8 million, which is $20 million more than what the city expected to spend within the last six months.

Therefore, the spending is up to $1,000 per immigrant each week.

In August, it was reported by Axios that Denver had spent over $23 million in relation to the immigrant crisis. However, the city’s dilemma was said to be stable as leaders worked to establish a plan on how to efficiently provide services to the asylum seekers.

Earlier this year, the city of Denver put specific limitations on immigrant shelters. This included a 30-day limit for how long immigrants can reside in a shelter, as well as restrictions on returns and any possible “illegal activity.”

The immigrant crisis has been a growing issue throughout the country, and Denver is among a number of liberal cities that have been hit by a large influx of immigrants.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas), has also bussed immigrants to many cities, including Denver and NYC, however, those buses hold only a fraction of the total number of immigrants that have been seen.

Additionally, officials in Chicago have publicized that there has been a $538 million deficit generated from many factors. These include “the cost to care for new migrants arriving in the city.”

Denver officials have previously claimed that it is not a sanctuary city, but city commands do limit cooperation with immigration officials, leading conservatives, including the governor of Texas, to refer to it as a Sanctuary City.

Other city officials have also brought up the immigrant issue, including Governor Maura Healey (D-Mass.). Last month, Healey informed citizens about the state of emergency in the liberal state.

Additionally, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D-Calif.) explained recently that she is “fearful” that any day, “planes could start coming.”

Simultaneously, at the border itself, several Border Patrol sectors across the country are overwhelmed as they face over 8,000 illegal immigrant encounters each day of the week.

This has resulted in street releases of immigrants across San Diego and Tucson as officials attempt to deal with the overflowing of their migrant shelters.

Guardian Angels Founder Curtis Sliwa was arrested during a migrant shelter protest on Staten Island.

On Sunday, the former Republican New York City Mayor nominee was arrested at the Midland Beach Migrant Shelter protest.

According to authorities, the protest came after the decision of a former assisted living facility to transform into a migrant shelter.

Video shows Sliwa and supporters during the protest carrying handmade signs and chanting phrases like “Close the borders,” “Stop the invasion,” and “USA! USA!”

“I’ve taken it upon myself to lead this effort with good people all throughout New York state, because they are not going to get away with invading our country with illegal aliens,” said Sliwa.

Silwa and his supporters then gathered together, linking arms to block off the roads in front of the facility.

“Today, this is not Republican versus Democrat versus Independents,” said Sliwa. “We’re joined together at the hip in solidarity. It’s us and we, not I and me. It’s Americans versus those who would destroy the America that we know.”

The New York Police Department told protestors that if they did not leave the roadway and use the accessible walkways, they would be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

The idea to turn Island Shores into a migrant shelter is part of a larger dilemma since it is expected to cost the city more than $12 billion by July 2025, in addition to the city already spending a whopping $1.45 billion.

Mayor Adams’ Plea: Time for Every US City to Share the Migrant Load?

NYC Mayor Eric Adams, in a surprising move, has called for every US city to share the load in accommodating migrants. Facing an increasingly overwhelming influx of newcomers, Adams has proposed this radical plan as New York grapples with thousands of new arrivals each day. Ironically, his 'share the love' approach emerges while his city, a proclaimed sanctuary, struggles to maintain its pledge amidst the sheer pressure of numbers and logistical challenges. Adams' suggestions are a stark contrast to his earlier rhetoric, revealing an interesting twist in his narrative. On the surface, this request to distribute migrants across all US cities might seem like a reasonable proposition. However, it unravels a deeper issue - the unrelenting tide of people crossing the southern border. The mayor's solution implies that New York, despite its sanctuary status, is feeling the strain from this surge, echoing the concerns of border states that have been grappling with this reality for years. Amidst his concerns about housing and resource allocation, the essence of the sanctuary city appears to be wavering, replaced by pleas for nationwide assistance. Adding another layer of complexity to this issue is the reopening of many of the city's shuttered hotels to serve as migrant shelters. As NYC houses more and more asylum seekers, questions of sustainability and long-term implications rise. The mayor’s move serves as a poignant reminder that the immigration issue continues to strain the resources and capacities of not just border towns, but also major cities across the country.
