The Arizona Supreme Court has voted to uphold a ban on almost all abortions in the state.

On Tuesday, the court ruled that in all cases, except where the life of the mother is at risk, abortions are illegal.

The crux of the argument was the law from 1846. The 160-year-old near abortion ban pre-dates Arizona’s statehood.

The 1864 law, which was codified again in 1901 and 1913, makes performing or inducing an abortion a felony.

The ruling will not be enforceable for 14-days.

The state’s attorney general released a statement after the ruling. Kris Mayes (D-Ariz.) stated that while she’s attorney general no doctor or woman would be prosecuted.

“The decision made by the Arizona Supreme Court today is unconscionable and an affront to freedom,” Mayes said in her statement. “Make no mistake, by effectively striking down a law passed this century and replacing it with one from 160 years ago, the Court has risked the health and lives of Arizonans. The Arizona Court of Appeals decision, which the Supreme Court has struck down today, was well reasoned and aligned with how courts harmonize different legislation.”

“Today’s decision to reimpose a law from a time when Arizona wasn’t a state, the Civil War was raging, and women couldn’t even vote will go down in history as a stain on our state,” she continued. “This is far from the end of the debate on reproductive freedom, and I look forward to the people of Arizona having their say in the matter. And let me be completely clear, as long as I am Attorney General, no woman or doctor will be prosecuted under this draconian law in this state.”

The opinion comes as the ballot measure is set to be voted on this November. It could allow abortions up to 24-weeks of pregnancy.

Former President Donald Trump has stated that he does not support a federal ban on abortion and instead believes that individual states should set their own abortion limits.

The statement contradicts what Democrats have been claiming about him over the last few months.

Nevertheless, many detractors of the former president have still gone as far as to say that Trump is “lying” and that he is only claiming this in order to “get more votes.”

“At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people,” Trump said in a video posted to Truth Social.

“My view is, now that we have abortion where everybody wants it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land,” Trump said.

In a video released on Monday, Trump also reaffirmed his total support for exceptions in situations of rape, incest, and to preserve the mother’s life.

The former GOP president went on to say that he believes every state should pass its own abortion legislation, but he did not name the specific laws that he is in favor of. This goes against the views of some notable Republican officials, who want a federal law that restricts or outlaws reproductive rights nationwide.

Trump’s “division between federal and state laws,” according to President Joe Biden and his allies, is “meaningless.” Biden has elevated abortion to a significant political issue in the presidential election, attempting to instill fear in Democrat voters that if they do not vote “blue,” then their “abortion rights,” in Biden’s own words, could be taken away indefinitely.

Democrats further claimed that Trump had long been a threat to abortion rights since he had “appointed justices to the Supreme Court who had reversed the historic Roe v. Wade decision.”

“President Trump supports preserving life but has also made clear that he supports states’ rights because he supports voters’ right to make decisions for themselves,” said Brian Hughes, a Trump senior adviser. He added: “President Trump thinks voters should have the last word.”

Meanwhile, Susan B. Anthony, Pro Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser expressed her “deep disappointment in President Trump’s position” on the issue. Dannenfelser has lobbied Republicans to accept a nationwide ban that is based on weeks.

“Saying the issue is back to the states’ cedes the national debate to the Democrats, who are working relentlessly to enact legislation mandating abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy,” she said. “If successful, they will wipe out states’ rights.”

The White House has banned religious-themed designs from the Easter egg art event.

Religious Easter egg designs will not be accepted by the National Guard children for the 2024 “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event at the White House.

Along with the yearly Easter Egg Roll, the White House celebrates Easter with an art competition. A contest flyer specifies that an Easter egg design entry “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”

“As part of the White House Easter traditions, America’s Egg Farmers—for nearly 50 years—have proudly presented an intricately decorated Commemorative Easter Egg to the First Lady of the United States. In 2021, the White House expanded on this long-standing tradition by displaying youth-designed Easter eggs in the White House East Colonnade,” the flyer explains. “On behalf of First Lady Jill Biden, the Adjutants General of the National Guard are asking youth from National Guard families across the United States and all U.S. territories to submit artwork inspired by the theme ‘Celebrating our Military Families.’”

Kids are asked to paint eggs with pictures from their own lives. “Selected designs representing the unique experience and stories of National Guard children will be brought to life on real hen eggs by talented egg artists from across the country and displayed at the White House this Easter and Passover season,” the advertisement states.

Additionally, content that encourages “bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age” cannot be used in educational settings by children.

Children will paint a few chosen designs on actual eggs, which will be on display at the White House.

Judge Arthur Engoron heard deliberations and made his final say in the New York courtroom, declaring that 45th President Donald J. Trump is liable, an expected decision by the liberal judge.

The Friday verdict, which was revealed in a 92-page ruling, stated that Trump has to pay at least $354 million in the civil fraud trial.

Additionally, Trump is banned from conducting business in New York and serving as an officer or director at any New York corporation or legal entity for three years.

Trump and the Trump Organization is also banned from applying for loans from any financial institution registered with the New York Department of Financial Services for three years.

Additionally, Trump’s two adult sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., are ordered to pay $4 million each for what Judge Engoron referred to as “personal profits from the fraud.” The court similarly banned the two from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity for two years.

Former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg was fined $1 million.

This trial was initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James. James accused Trump, his two adult sons, and his top executives of inflating the Trump organization’s net worth in order to gain financial perks, such as better loans from banks.

When James first sued Trump in the fall of 2022, she asked the judge to penalize Trump $250 million for “inflating his net worth in order to retain better loans.” However, her number later rose to $370 million in January, as she believed that throughout the trial, “he gained all of his money unlawfully.”

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has issued an executive order banning hospitals from performing gender-affirming surgeries on minors.

About a week after vetoing a bill that would have banned all gender-affirming care for minors, including hormone therapy and puberty blockers, DeWine (R-Ohio) announced an executive order on Friday that will immediately prohibit transition-related surgeries for minors in the state.

“A week has gone by, and I still feel just as strongly as I did that day,” DeWine said at a news conference, reaffirming his decision to veto the broader ban. “I believe the parents, not the government, should be making these crucial decisions for their children.”

In addition to announcing his new executive order at the press conference, DeWine expressed concern about “fly-by-night” clinics that offer hormone therapy to transgender adults “without the lead-in psychiatric care that we know is so very, very important.”

Consequently, he declared that the Ohio Department of Health and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services would adopt and implement new administrative guidelines for adults and minors seeking transition-related care following a public comment period.

These regulations would apply to those receiving transition-related care and include that informed consent must be given by patients before beginning treatment and after being informed of the risks associated with receiving gender-affirming care.

Patients must also undergo psychological counseling prior to beginning hormone therapy or other treatments for gender dysphoria, which is the distress caused by a mismatch between an individual’s assigned sex at birth and their gender identity.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health, a nonprofit professional organization devoted to transgender health care, has generally discouraged surgery for minors.

When minors do undergo surgery, it is typically a double mastectomy, sometimes referred to as top surgery, and they stated that minors are never eligible for genital surgery.

A three-fifths majority vote in the Ohio General Assembly, which is led by a Republican supermajority, would be required to override the veto of the governor.

According to reports, the Ohio House intends to vote on the override as soon as it reconvenes from its early winter break.
