A 37-year-old woman in King County, Washington died unexpectedly on Sept. 7, 2021, just 12 days after receiving Johnson & Johnson/Janssen’s experimental Ad26.COV2.S vaccine for COVID-19. Jessica Berg Wilson, the mother of two young daughters, was vaccinated on Aug. 26 and subsequently developed a blood clotting syndrome, known as “thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome” (TTS), that has been linked to Ad26.COV2.S.1 2 3 4

Public Health—Seattle & King County stated that the diagnosis was confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment Project. In a statement, the CDC noted that it was aware of the Wilson case and the report from Medical Examiner’s Office in King County and said that it “indicates a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and TTS.”1

J&J/Janssen Vaccine Had Previously Been Suspended by CDC and FDA for Blood Clotting Cases

There have been previous blood clotting cases (including deaths) this year following vaccination with Ad26.COV2.S. The cases led the CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Apr. 13 to recommend temporary “pause” in use of the J&J/Janssen product that had been granted an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the FDA on Feb. 27, 2021 to be distributed in the U.S. “It was clear to us that we needed to alert the public,” acting FDA commissioner Janet Woodcock, MD said.1 2 3 5 6

The pause was lifted by the CDC and FDA on Apr. 23. “We are no longer recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine,” CDC director Rochelle Walensky said. “Based on the in-depth analysis, there is likely an association but the risk is very low.”7 With regard to continued use of Ad26.COV2.S, the CDC advised:

Women younger than 50 years old should especially be aware of the rare risk of blood clots with low platelets after vaccination. There are other COVID-19 vaccines available for which this risk has not been seen.3

She was “vehemently opposed to taking the vaccine”

Wilson was reportedly healthy and had no underlying health conditions. According to her obituary, she died of “COVID-19 vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia.” It stated Wilson had been “vehemently opposed to taking the vaccine, knowing she was in good health and of a young age and thus not at risk for serious illness” and that she believed that the “known and unknown risks of the unproven vaccine were more of a threat.”8

The obituary further read:

During the last weeks of her life, however, the world turned dark with heavy-handed vaccine mandates. Local and state governments were determined to strip away her right to consult her wisdom and enjoy her freedom.8

… But, slowly, day by day, her freedom to choose was stripped away. Her passion to be actively involved in her children’s education—which included being a Room Mom—was, once again, blocked by government mandate. Ultimately, those who closed doors and separated mothers from their children prevailed. It cost Jessica her life. It cost her children the loving embrace of their caring mother. And it cost her husband the sacred love of his devoted wife.8

Slovenia Suspends J&J/Janssen COVID Vaccine After Young Woman Dies Following Vaccination

On another recent incident involving the J&J/Janssen COVID vaccine, a 20-year-old woman in Slovenia who received the single-dose Ad26.COV2.S reportedly died days after getting the shot. She was hospitalized on Sept. 27 and died of a brain hemorrhage and blood clots on the evening of Sept. 28. “The patient had blood clots and bleeding in the brain at the same time, intensive care was not successful,” said neurologist Igor Rigler, MD of Ljubljana University Medical Center in Slovenia.9

The case led the Slovenian government to temporarily suspend use of the vaccine. “According to the notification of a serious adverse event after vaccination Janssen [J&J], members of the advisory group suggest that vaccination with this vaccine be suspended until the situation is clarified,” Slovenia’s Minister of Health, Janez Poklukar, said.10
