Mask Mandates Return to California With Fines and Prison for Violations

Mask mandates have been reinstated in California’s San Francisco Bay area and, depending upon the county, will include health care workers in medical settings, patients and visitors with fines and prison time for violations. Beginning on Nov. 1, 2024 and through the spring of next year, masks will be required in health care settings, including but not limited to, hospitals, dialysis centers, infusion centers and skilled nursing facilities. Santa Clara, Alameda, Napa, San Mateo and Contra Costa counties have issued the mask mandate.

While the mandate only applies to health care workers, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties will require visitors to wear masks, and Santa Clara will also require patients to wear masks. Santa Clara will exclude children under the age of two and those with certain medical conditions from the mask mandate.1

All other counties will require all people, including very young children and those with medical conditions, to wear masks. California’s initial mask mandate which extended until March 2024, was the third longest in the country.2

Health officials who ordered the mask mandates claim the mandates are intended to halt the spread of influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses. Alameda County’s health order reads:

The fall and winter of 2023-2024 saw substantial waves of RSV, flu and COVID-19, and a similar pattern is expected this year.3

The order added that any violation of the order “constitutes an imminent threat and menace to public health, constitutes a public nuisance, and is punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both.”4

Other Counties Across America May Mandate Masking If CDC Issues Warnings

Currently, California counties are the only areas in the country to set mask mandates at this time. Other states, however, may follow suit should the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issue warnings that COVID cases are rising. In August 2024, counties in Massachusetts and Arizona issued mask mandates due to rising cases of the disease.5

According to the CDC:

Generally, masks can help act as a filter to reduce the number of germs you breathe in or out. Their effectiveness can vary against different viruses, for example, based on the size of the virus. When worn by a person with a virus, masks can reduce the chances they spread it to others.6

Critics of mask mandates argue that mask wearers may be more likely to infect themselves with the SARS-CoV-2 virus by transferring infectious material from their hands to their face when adjusting their mask.7

A 2023 study by the independent non-profit organization Cochrane, which reviewed 78 studies, concluded that there was “little to no” evidence that SARS-CoV-2 infections were reduced by masking at the population level and that there was “uncertainty about the effects of face masks.”8

State Department claims ‘five Israeli units responsible for gross violations of human rights’ before October 7

The statement from the State Department is reprehensible, as it implies that Israel provoked October 7. Let’s not forget that on the same day of the Hamas massacre, October 7, the Saudis, Qatar, and Iran all blamed the attack upon the so-called “occupation.” The State Department is scapegoating Israel again, which serves to empower Hamas, Iran and all jihadists.

Note that the State Department’s Vedant Patel “did not identify the units” he was accusing. The accusations against Israel of human rights abuses are vague because they aren’t justified.

It is the modus operandi of jihadists everywhere to rape and murder, with no limits upon their intentional, calculated savagery against civilians. That isn’t the MO of Israel. Jihadists are infamously inhumane — from al-Qaeda and ISIS to Boko Haram, al-Shabaab and the Taliban. It’s historic and ongoing.

“When your Lord was revealing to the angels, ‘I am with you; so confirm the believers. I shall cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers; so strike the necks, and strike every finger of them!” (Qur’an 8:12)

And all married women [are forbidden to you] except those whom your right hands possess. (Qur’an 4:24)

The October 7 attack was not connected in any way, shape or form to anything Israel has done. To claim otherwise is to ignore the jihad imperative. Muslims kill Muslims in droves. Muslims kill Christians and other infidels in droves, and routinely murder Israelis. October 7 took years to plan. The Times of Israel reported “sources close to the leadership of Hamas’s Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades military wing” as stating this:

The terrorists involved in the devastating attack were selected from among hundreds of elite commandos from all over Gaza, and underwent training for a number of years, along with continuous testing to gauge their skills.

Neither Israel nor any Western “elite” forces would train their personnel to commit a barbaric attack such as what the world saw on October 7.

“US says five Israeli units committed abuse before Hamas attack,” WION, April 30, 2024:

"The United States announced that five Israeli military units had committed grave human rights violations against Palestinians in the West Bank before Hamas launched its assault in the month of October," said the State Department on Monday (Apr 29).

State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said that four out of the five units had taken remedial measures, however, consultations were underway across the fifth unit with the Israeli government.

“After a careful process, we found five Israeli units responsible for individual incidents of gross violations of human rights,” Patel said.

Patel said that the violations took place before the Oct 7 Hamas assault and that it was not in the Gaza Strip.

He did not identify the units or specify the measures the Israeli government had taken against them….

EVERY Constitutional Right that Biden’s New “Red Flag” Office VIOLATES

President Biden’s Department of Justice has launched a new office to train state and local authorities on how to use red flag laws to confiscate guns from people who could pose a “threat.” But what does it consider to be a threat? People have already accused this "National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center" of violating the Second Amendment. But Glenn believes it may violate a handful more of the Bill of Rights. Glenn reviews how the Department of Justice has sidestepped Amendments 1-6 of the Constitution with this order, along with others.

Biden regime gives Israel 45 days to submit report on alleged international law violations or lose military aid

As I have predicted, the Biden regime is moving toward rupturing the US/Israeli alliance in order to appease his far-Left base.

“Biden gives Israel 45 days to submit a report on international law violations or lose military aid,” by Hannah Sarisohn, Jerusalem Post, February 9, 2024:

President Joe Biden issued a memorandum Thursday night asking countries receiving U.S. military funding to prove they’re following international humanitarian and human rights laws.

The timing of the memorandum coincides with President Biden’s unscheduled press conference where he took reporters’ questions on the Israel-Hamas war, saying Israel’s response is “over the top.”

For weeks now, reporters have pressed both the White House and State Department on their ability to assess if Israel is following international law as there have been no formal assessment procedures in place.

Administration officials have repeated that one innocent life killed is too many, but have stopped short of implying that Israel is in violation of international law.

Members of Congress raised concern over Israel’s human rights violations, The Post previously reported.

Led by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), several progressive Democratic members issued a letter to Biden and the Government Accountability Office requesting an assessment of the State Department’s compliance with Leahy Laws and Conventional Arms Transfer policies regarding security assistance to the Israeli government.

“We write today regarding your administration’s ongoing weapons transfers to the Israeli government despite considerable evidence that these transfers are flagrantly violating American and international law and are being used in the commission of war crimes,” the letter to Biden said.

The letter cites a January 5 comment from White House national security spokesman John Kirby in which he said he wasn’t aware of any assessments being made by the US government to analyze Israel’s compliance with international law.

Regular updates
Biden’s memorandum requires states receiving military aid to provide the State Department and Congress with thorough reports every fiscal year with details of any alleged legal violations, explanations for military actions in question, and the process taken to assess legality in making those decisions….
