WASHINGTON, D.C. – The State Department is in open revolt
against the White House and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, inviting
President Donald Trump to clean house.
For many
Americans, Trump, made famous for his “You’re Fired” approach to his
“Apprentice” reality TV show, has just been given a once-in-a-lifetime
repeat performance of that line now that he is president.
Those
federal employees feeling secure that civil service rules assure them
permanent State Department employment in DC despite their open
opposition to Trump’s foreign policies might be well advised to start
thinking twice about how well they could adapt to a presidential
reassignment to a remote outpost in Alaska, or at the southernmost tip
of the United States in Texas, along the Mexican border.

This week a State Department “dissent channel” memo surfaced,
objecting to President Trump’s Executive Order issued Jan. 27,
temporarily suspending travel for 90 days from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya,
Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. By Friday over 1,000 State Department
employees had put their signatures to the resistance statement.
“A
policy which closes our doors to over 200 million legitimate travelers
in the hopes of preventing a small number of travelers who intend to
harm Americans from using the visa system to enter the US will not
achieve its aim of making our country safer,” the State Department dissent memo reads,
in language that clearly asserts the bureaucrats in the State
Department have a superior lock on foreign policy wisdom than does the
president.
Given Trump’s history as a highly successful
multi-billionaire CEO, dissenting State Department employees are making a
dangerous bet expressing their opinion that they know better than their
boss.
The New York Times reported
that the State Department currently has 7,600 Foreign Service officers
and 11,000 civil servants. This means some 5% (the 1,000 signing the
dissent memorandum) of current State Department employees are in open
revolt against the newly-inaugurated Chief Executive of the US.
The
State Department’s open revolt invites Secretary Tillerson to put under
scrutiny for discipline, reassignment, and/or outright dismissal the
1,000 employees signing the dissent memo.
This, plus the “mass exodus” of top State Department policy and management officials that resigned in response to Trump’s election
and his selection of Tillerson to be secretary of state, gives
President Trump and Secretary Tillerson an extraordinary opportunity to
“clean house” with a decision to fire for insubordination all State
Department policy officials that signed the dissent memorandum
expressing their open disdain for the border security objectives central
to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The depth of the State
Department revolt is not fully appreciated until we examine the extent
to which leftist State Department officials went to flood into the US a
disproportionately large number of refugees from the seven
terror-supporting countries specified in the Trump executive order –
acting almost as if it were the State Department’s job to get as many
refugees into the Untied States as possible from these seven
terror-supporting countries before the window closed.
The Washington Times has reported the State Dept. has more than doubled the refugee inflow
from the seven terror-prone nations since U.S. District Court Judge
James Robart in Seattle imposed a temporary restraining order on the
enforcement of President Trump’s executive order imposing the temporary
travel ban.
“A staggering 77 percent of the 1,100 refugees let in
since Judge James L. Robart’s Feb. 3 order have been from the seven
suspect countries. Nearly a third are from Syria alone — a country that
President Trump has ordered be banned altogether from the refugee
program,” the Washington Times noted. “Another 21 percent are from Iraq.
By contrast, in the two weeks before Judge Robart’s order, just 9
percent of refugees were from Syria and 6 percent were from Iraq.”
But the State Department open rebellion against President Trump does not stop there.
The ConservativeTreeHouse.com argued that a CNN report on Thursday claiming the Russians
were trying to influence the election in France so as to insure a win
for anti-globalist Marine Le Pen, president of the National Front – a
strong opponent of the European Union with a Trump-like “France First”
message.
“In essence, CNN -and by extension the progressive State
Department officials remaining within the shadow deep state
construct- is trying to influence the French Presidential Race,” the
ConservativeTreeHouse.com story stressed.  “Blaming the Russians in
advance is an attempt to weaken Marine Le Pen.”
The article went
on to comment only difference between November 2016 and today is that
this time CNN is attempting to get out ahead of an election rather than
inventing the back-story “the Russians did it” to explain why Hillary
Clinton lost an election her leftist supporters presumed she had won
from the moment she declared her candidacy for president.
Predictably,
Twitter on Friday morning in the aftermath of the Ninth Circuit’s Court
of Appeals decision to leave Judge Robart’s decision in place has
nothing about the issue trending, despite numerous tweets being posted
by Americans angry at the appellate court’s decision and demanding that
President Trump clean house at the State Department.

The lyrics to a new Katy Perry
song timed to coincide with her re-branding as an anti-Trump “activist”
includes a line that openly encourages her fans to riot.
Released earlier today, the pop star’s Chained to the Rhythm
track features lyrics by reggae singer Skip Marley that include the
lines, “We’re stumbling, we’re crumbling, and we’re about to riot / They
woke up, they woke up the lions.”
Elsewhere, the lyrics make reference to “liars” and the “empire,” clearly placing it in a political context.
“Even
though Skip is the one who seems to slyly diss the President, many drew
attention to how it’s still Katy’s song, and how her lyrics could also
be related to the current political climate,” reports Hollywood Life.
Perry, who now considers herself an “activist” according to her Twitter bio
(no doubt a genuine lifestyle choice and not just an avaricious form of
virtue signaling to make more money), endorsed Hillary Clinton multiple
times and headlined a concert in her honor back in November.
Following Donald Trump’s victory, she took to Twitter to call for a “revolution,” asking people to “rise up”.
As part of her new role as the Che Guevara of pop music, Perry also attended last month’s anti-Trump “women’s march” in DC.
After releasing her new song, Perry proclaimed the new era of “purposeful pop”.
Fans reacted to Perry’s new song by thanking her for taking on Trump.
“The anthem for our revolution!” wrote one.
“Katy Perry’s #ChainedToTheRhythm is the 1st major pop release that feels influenced by Trump era,” added another.
It is rumored that Perry will perform the new song during an appearance at the Grammys this Sunday.
Other anti-Trump pop stars have also jumped on the bandwagon in recent weeks. During the “women’s march,” which was organized by a supporter of sharia law, Madonna gave a speech in which she said she had “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House”.
While it’s unlikely that Perry’s fans
are likely to organize a mass riot any time soon, her new song
highlights how popular culture is re-branding civil unrest as a trendy
form of virtue signaling in order to cash in on the deep political
divisions that plague America.
There
have been numerous riots since Trump won the presidency, including
immediately after the election, at the inauguration, more violent unrest
in response to his travel ban policy, as well as the shocking scenes at
Berkeley last week when attendees of a Milo Yiannopoulos event were
pepper sprayed and beaten by Antifa thugs.

While the dominant
culture desperately tries to portray itself as the anti-establishment
counter-culture, the only real counter-culture is the new brand of
conservatism that helped sweep Trump to victory in the first place.

Public amputations are common in ISIS-run settlements.

Sickening images and video have emerged in recent months showing hundreds gathering around to see such spectacles.

The horrifying news comes days after ISIS’ chief executioner was killed by mystery death squads in the city of Mosul.

Abu Sayyaf is said to have butchered more than 100 captives.

Yet security sources have now confirmed the brutal killer had been stabbed to death by the squad of assassins…..

Those are among the regular prayers being recited at Al Andalous
Islamic Center in Montreal by Imam Sayed AlGhitawi. He also pleaded with
“Allah to support the mujahideen (Muslims who engage in jihad) in
Palestine and to inflict total destruction on the Jews.”

There are others like him who are being permitted in Canada to spread
messages of violence and conquest, while Canada is pushing through
another anti-Islamophobia motion in Parliament that takes aim at free
speech, specifically at any criticism of Islam. ACT for Canada published

AlGhitawi’s statements are not singular. In August, Mazin AbdulAdhim, a prominent imam of Iraqi descent in London, Ontario, “encouraged Muslims
to wake up from the illusion that the Western governments represent
them, to disavow democracy, to follow the true teachings of Islam, and
to work together for re-establishing the Islamic State – the Caliphate.”

Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick, who “served as a special advisor to the Toronto Board of Education,” stated that “in Islam gays should be executed” and that “homosexuality goes with Zionism.”

Last February, the Alberta Islamic Welfare Association hosted Syrian
refugees and their families at a get-together with members of the
Edmonton Muslim community and Imam Shaban Sherif Mady of a Muslim
congregation in Edmonton. During prayer with the refugees, Imam Mady prayed…

O Allah! Strengthen the mujahideen [jihad fighters in the
path of Allah] everywhere, make their hearts firm and strong, let them
hit their targets, give them victory over their enemies.

Some years ago, Toronto area Imam Said Rageah at the Abu Huraira Centre called on Allah to “destroy the enemies of Islam from within” and he called upon God to “damn the infidels.”

“Europe is on the road to war,” according to European Commission
first vice-president Frans Timmermans, who has declaraed that citizens
have to “fight against the ‘politics of paranoia’ and the ‘disruptive
forces of xenophobia, intolerance and illiberalism.’”

He goes on:

EUROPE must not repeat the mistakes of its violent and
bloody past by embracing populism and nationalism as a ‘breath of fresh
air.’

In other words, as he disregards the current global realities of
Islamic supremacism and jihad, Timmermans is accusing every European
victim of jihad attacks and the rampant sex attacks and surging crimes
committed by Muslim migrants of paranoia. He’s also indirectly accusing
the persecuted Church and infidels of other religious minorities, and
even the 11 million Muslims murdered by their coreligionists since 1948,
of paranoia. He grossly underestimates the global jihad threat, the
biggest threat to human rights and peace today. The nation of Israel is
also victimized by jihad terror, so perhaps it, too, can be accused by
Timmermans of “nationalism” and “paranoia.” Let’s not forget the victims
of 9/11 on the list of the paranoid, in Timmermans’ bizarre reasoning,
along with many others victims of jihad attack. Timmermans also
completely ignores Islamic history as he slams Brexit, Trump and
Europe’s own history.

The Timmermans of the world, and there are many, call on Europe and
the entire West to surrender to Islamic supremacists and jihadists so as
to avoid labels of paranoia, xenophobia and intolerance.

The only threat of destruction Europe faces is in living in its past,
seeing all nationalism through the prism of World War II’s malignant
nationalism, and forgetting the fine efforts of those (of every race and
religion) who fought for human rights and democratic rule. That
includes my own Chinese grandfather, who fought for the Brits in
Trinidad in World War I.

Mr Timmermans warned recent political upheavals threatened to jeopardise the hard-earned peace across the block.

He said: “Right here, on our own doorstep, our fundamental values are under threat.

“In Europe, we see the return of the politics of paranoia. Fuelled by
alternative facts in Internet echo chambers, the disruptive forces of
xenophobia, intolerance, il-liberalism and nationalism and are on the
march.

“New parties are peddling old, dangerous ideas.

“Brexit, Turkey, Poland, Hungary and even in the Western Balkans we
see the return of fault lines in Europe. Not an iron curtain of machine
guns and minefields, but a barrier of the mind, between inclusion and
exclusion, between open and closed societies.”

Mr Timmermans accused Russia of trying to challenge the European order and feared President Vladimir Putin had too much power.

He told the conference: “We see hybrid warfare, now in Ukraine. Will
the Baltic states be next? We see the return of the menace of nuclear
war. Russia has less checks and balances than the Soviet Union had.
President Putin enjoys more unrestrained power, than Nikita Khrushchev
ever did…..

Yesterday, President Trump met with the National Sheriff’s
Association at the White House.  Like so many Trump comments, this one
took a strange turn when Trump (jokingly or not) threatened to “destroy the career” of a Texas state Senator:

During the meeting, Rockwall County, Texas, Sheriff Harold Eavenson
told President Trump about a piece of asset forfeiture legislation he
believes would aid Mexican drug cartels…here’s the full conversation:

Eavenson:  “There’s a state senator in Texas that was talking
about legislation to require conviction before we could receive that
forfeiture money.”

Trump:  “Do you believe that?”

Eavenson:  “And I told him that the cartel would build a monument to him in Mexico if he could get that legislation passed.”

Trump:  “Who is that state senator? I want to hear his name. We’ll destroy his career…”

Though the major point of conversation was about Trump’s threat to a state legislator, the bigger story should
be the implicit support Trump gave to civil asset forfeiture, whether
he realized it or not.  And if you are not aware what civil asset
forfeiture is, it is (surprisingly) something that is agreed by both
sides of the aisle to be unjust and unconstitutional, and rightfully so.

Civil asset forfeiture is defined by Wikipedia
as “a controversial legal process in which law enforcement officers
take assets from persons suspected of involvement with crime or illegal
activity without necessarily charging the owners with wrongdoing.”  The
practice is commonplace in the war on drugs, but it can be extended to
almost anything.

What it means is that the government can essentially seize any of
your assets it can find (be it in a bank account, or cash/gold/whatever
you have in a safe or under the mattress), label them a part of a
“criminal investigation,” and keep them indefinitely, without sufficient
due process for the citizen to challenge the seizures, and whether you
are ultimately charged with a crime or not.

Martin Armstrong of Armstrong Economics explains how police have every reason to seize assets, largely because these civil asset forfeitures are literally funding police departments:

Between 1989 and 2010, U.S. attorneys seized an estimated $12.6 billion in
asset forfeiture cases. The growth rate during that time averaged
+19.4% annually. In 2010 alone, the value of assets seized grew by
+52.8% from 2009 and was six times greater than the total for 1989. Then
by 2014, that number had ballooned to roughly $4.5 billion
for the year, making this 35% of the entire number of assets collected
from 1989 to 2010 in a single year. According to the FBI, the total
amount of goods stolen by criminals in 2014 burglary offenses suffered
an estimated $3.9 billion in property losses. This means that the police
are now taking more assets than the criminals.
The police have been violating the laws to confiscate assets all over the country. A scathing report on California warns of pervasive abuse by police to rob the people without proving that any crime occurred. Even Eric Holder came out in January suggesting reform because of the widespread abuse of the civil asset forfeiture laws by police.
Bloomberg News
has reported now that Stop-and-Seize authority is turning the Police
Into Self-Funding Gangs. They are simply confiscating money all under
the abuse of this civil asset forfeiture where they do not have to prove
you did anything.
Prosecutors are now instructing police on how to confiscate money within the grey area of the law.
A class action lawsuit was filed against Washington DC
where police were robbing people for as little as having $100 in their
pocket.  This is getting really out of hand and it has indeed converted
police into legal criminals or “gangs” as Bloomberg News calls them.
And Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkreig even cites the Huffington Post, of all places,
which detailed the case of two bakers who did not commit any crime, but
had their assets (and lives) ruined by the IRS, because they were able
to legally seize the business’s assets by just believing that they may have been engaging in criminal activity, with absolutely no evidence to support their claim:
But the IRS refused to believe Vocatura’s Bakery
was operating on the up and up. Agents said the business raised red
flags because of a series of cash deposits in sums under $10,000, the
amount at which banks are required to report transactions to the federal
government. They said this behavior was consistent with a crime known
as structuring, which the IRS defines as making calculated financial
transactions in order to skirt reporting requirements. The agents had no
evidence of other wrongdoing, but thanks to a controversial law
enforcement tool known as civil asset forfeiture, they didn’t need any
to seize every penny in the Vocaturas’ bank account: $68,382.22.

Under the practice of civil forfeiture, authorities can move to
permanently take property they suspect of being linked to criminal
activity, without obtaining a conviction — and, in cases like the
Vocaturas’, without even charging the owner with a crime.

For the past three years, the brothers have been fighting to
get their money back, maintaining they’d done nothing wrong. The IRS has
responded by subjecting David, 53, and his brother Larry, 69, to a
series of increasingly aggressive legal maneuvers — including threats of
significant prison time and additional fines — in an attempt to
strong-arm them into permanently forfeiting their assets.

Hours after the suit was filed, the IRS said it would finally give
the Vocaturas their money back. But the prosecutor didn’t drop the case.
Instead, he now plans to mount an expansive investigation into the
bakery’s finances, looking for a reason to bring criminal charges
against the brothers.

It was just the latest twist in a protracted legal battle that has
called into question some of the government’s favorite — and most
problematic —methods of taking people’s money.

The practice is just as bad as it sounds – with the original intent
being to stop big time drug dealers from recouping their assets, the
practice has devolved into police and agencies of all types funding
their departments by stealing the assets of civilians, whether they were
obtained criminally or not.  This is also not a partisan trend, and as
Michael Armstrong indicated above, the practice has been steadily
increasing, across all administrations, since it was first implemented
in the early 1980s.

All in the same, this makes Trump’s support of the policy quite disturbing.  Mother Jones, of all places, sums up what it all means, and whether or not Trump actually supports the policy (or even realized the significance of it):

My guess is that he has no idea what civil asset forfeiture is and
has no real opinion about it. If, say, Trump had been in a meeting with a
few senators, and Bob Goodlatte had remarked that “police can seize
your money even if you weren’t convicted of a crime,” Trump probably
would have reflexively answered, “Can you believe that?” Instead, a
sheriff said it was a bad thing related to Mexicans, so Trump
automatically agreed with him. That means it’s now official Trump administration policy.

Obviously, the Sheriffs who met with Trump support the policy – it
helps fund their departments.  Perhaps Trump was merely supporting
lawmen and trying to unify everyone behind his stated policy of “law and
order” by agreeing with them in words, and doing something different in
practice.  Surely, we would all like to believe that Trump is prepared
to concede that every citizen is innocent until proven guilty, and
should have recourse to challenge the legality of any seizure of
personal assets.

However, I’m not naive enough to think that is a certainty.  Trump
very well could have realized exactly what he was doing and the policy
he was supporting, and the ramifications behind his support.  He could
actually believe the practice helps stop crime, and be ready to
willingly disregard the rights of citizens to do so.  It is an extremely
dangerous position to take; one that the Trump administration should
clarify as soon as possible.

The average American citizen ends up being the big loser in the ongoing saga of oppressive conduct by the authorities,
as the practice is unlikely to end without intervention via legislation
and/or executive action.   So, while it would be nice if the media
would ask the Trump administration for some clarity on their policy
regarding civil asset forfeiture, they seem too preoccupied with asking
Trump if he really wants to end a state Senator’s career, in their
ongoing quest to boost their own ratings.

It would be funny, if it weren’t so sad.
