The state of Virginia is in trouble. Recently it was discovered that Governor Ralph Northam’s 1984 yearbook reveals him in blackface or dressed as a Klan member. The yearbook photo was of a man in blackface and another man in a Klan costume. Northam was not sure which one he was; then he denied that he was even in the photo but he did confess that he had imitated Michael Jackson in blackface.
Gasp!
Everyone is aghast at such actions but few gagged and gasped for breath at the governor’s defense of killing newborn babies; so it seems blackface is anathema but baby killing is acceptable. President Trump was right when he declared, “All children, born and unborn, are made in the image of God.”
It got worse for the Democrat administration when the state’s Lt. Governor Justin E. Fairfax was accused of a 2004 sexual assault by a college professor. Then it was revealed that the Washington Post (champions of the double standard) had the story a year ago but refused to publish it. You may remember that they were not reticent to run an unsubstantiated story about Judge Brett Kavanaugh. But then, he is a Republican.
Then, another shoe dropped when Virginia’s Attorney General Mark R. Herring confessed to wearing blackface at a party in the 1980s—now all three top officeholders are in trouble.
Of course, like buzzards circling over a road kill, Al Sharpton showed up and called forcefully for Northam and Herring to resign saying, “If you sin, you must repent for the sin.” Such sanctimonious hypocrisy would gag the aforementioned buzzards. Sharpton is America’s number one race-baiter, with Jesse Jackson a close second. Sharpton has never answered for the Tawana Brawley hoax that destroyed six innocent men in 1987.
Tawana was 15 years old when she told police and reporters that she had been raped by six white men, including a local prosecutor and a police officer, who scrawled racial epithets on her body and left her in a vacant lot, according to The New York Times. Her lie, supported by Sharpton, ruined six men but made Al a television commentator on MSNBC although he has major problems reading plain English from his teleprompter. His show is seen by hundreds, maybe thousands of viewers.
Al is back doing his thing (race-baiting) since blackface is a terrible crime against humanity. But is it? Is it possible that one can do a blackface routine without being a racist?
It seems admitting doing blackface is worse than killing helpless babies. Most of Virginia’s Democrat leaders and many national Democrat leaders demanded that Northam resign. However, they were not concerned with him advocating the killing of newborn babies, just his blackface or KKK episode.
To most people, the photo of him (or whomever) in blackface and the other of a man in a KKK robe are equivalent. They are not. They are worlds apart. It must be remembered that the Klan was a white terrorist group of southern Democrats founded after the Civil War. A group of former Confederate veterans founded the first KKK as a social club in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1866. When it reached its peak in the 1920s, the membership had more than 4 million members in many states.
The KKK members (mostly Democrats) were incensed that Blacks were elected in the Reconstructed south (as Republicans) during the late 1860s. During those days, seven black politicians were killed by the Klan. Klan members adopted a white, hooded costume—a guise intended to represent the ghosts of the Confederate dead—to avoid identification and to frighten and intimidate white and black Republicans. The Klan specialized in murder, lynching, arson, rape, whippings, and bombings.
To condone or to defend the Klan is irresponsible; however, blackface should be looked at as the immature actions of college students who have more time than they have social consciences. The guilty Whites parading as Blacks were not necessarily bigots; only thoughtless morons. It is said that the earliest blackface performances stereotyped black men and women as “ignorant, hypersexual, superstitious, lazy people who were prone to thievery and cowardice.” After watching a blackface act in 1848, abolitionist Fredrick Douglass called the white performers “the filthy scum of white society” in his The North Star newspaper.
Yes, there was that aspect of blackface but there is another side also.
In the early 1900s, Blacks were played by white actors in blackface because the white elite did not think Blacks could learn their lines and fake emotions required by the script. Moreover, Blacks were banned from Broadway productions and were finally employed in movies as dumb, slow-talking, lazy, stumbling, or dangerous “darkies.” This practice was common into the 1930s. Then Al Jolson, in blackface, became a sensation to Blacks and Whites. Al Jolson was a Jewish immigrant who became the most famous and highest paid entertainer in America. He was considered “The World’s Greatest Entertainer.” He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Blacks by wearing blackface.
While Jolson appeared in other roles, he became famous for The Jazz Singer where he won the hearts of Americans even in blackface. The oldest black newspaper in the nation Amsterdam News stated that The Jazz Singer in 1927 was “one of the greatest pictures ever produced,” and that, “Every colored performer is proud of him (Jolson).” Jolson chose to star in The Jazz Singer which defied racial bigotry by introducing black musicians to audiences worldwide.
Jolson introduced America to Black musicians and actors according to the St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture stating, “Almost single-handedly, Jolson helped to introduce African-American musical innovations like jazz, ragtime, and the blues to white audiences.”
According to film historian Eric Lott, “For the white minstrel man to put on the cultural forms of ‘blackness’ was to engage in a complex affair of manly mimicry…To wear or even enjoy blackface was literally, for a time, to become black, to inherit the cool, virility, humility, abandon, or gaité de coeur (cheerfulness with a light heart) that were the prime components of white ideologies of black manhood.” Lott thought Jolson was a positive for Blacks and Whites.
Jolson, as a 25 year old, fought discrimination on Broadway and later in the movies. Furthermore, he promoted a play by Garland Anderson (a black) which became the first production with an all-black cast produced on Broadway. Jolson demanded equal treatment for Cab Calloway, with whom he performed duets in the movie The Singing Kid.
Noble Sissle was a black songwriter in the 1930s who declared, “[h]e was always the champion of the Negro songwriter and performer, and was first to put Negroes in his shows.”
Jeni LeGon, a black female tap dance star, recalls her life as a film dancer: “But of course, in those times it was a ‘black-and-white world.’ You didn’t associate too much socially with any of the stars. You saw them at the studio, you know, nice—but they didn’t invite. The only ones that ever invited us home for a visit was Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler.”
British performer Brian Conley, former star of the 1995 British play Jolson, stated during an interview, “I found out Jolson was actually a hero to the black people of America. At his funeral, black actors lined the way, they really appreciated what he’d done for them.”
No one considered Jolson a racist in his day and it is contemptible for moderns to make unfair, untrue, and unwarranted judgments about his blackface performances. Haters and bigots do not treat the object of their hatred as did Jolson. His blackface performances were not proof of bigotry, but were his way of helping black performers by putting first himself and then them in front of his audiences.
There is an inclination to judge the past in the light of modern standards. It is unreasonable to criticize early Americans and their relationship to Indians without knowing what it was like to live in constant fear of being scalped, raped, or burned alive while living in a lonely cabin many miles from assistance.
Likewise, it is unfair, even silly to hold anyone’s feet to the fire for what he or she did in college. I refuse to fault the governor or any other politician for doing blackface when they were younger; however, I do believe anyone who defends, promotes, and advocates the killing of babies should be recognized as baby butchers and be shunned by polite society.
Killing innocent, defective babies is not just a slippery slope; it is a bottomless pit.

(Publisher’s comment: In my opinion this is one of Don’s best essays.  I remember seeing Al Jolson perform many times in “Blackface” and considered him one of the greatest.  Never one time did I ever consider him demeaning or belittling blacks.  Would to God they were writing and singing those kinds of songs that he was singing now.  Who can forget his, “Mammy”, and “That’s what I like about the south etc.”.  Never was there a filthy or suggestive word that came from his mouth, never did he denigrate the negro race.  The only thing I would add a little stronger to Bro. Don’s article is the hypocrisy of Northam’s Democratic supporters.  They have been brutal against Kavanaugh and other so-called Republican “racists and “sexists”, but where are they now when we need them?)

Liberals in Louisiana are up in arms over a local grocery store ad mailer containing a religious message promoting President Trump’s wall.

“Heaven has a wall, a gate and a strict immigration policy. Hell has open borders. Let that sink in,” the ad from Mac’s Fresh Market reads.

The store’s owner Reggy McDaniel says the message is not only a commentary on the current immigration debate, but also a reflection of his Christian beliefs.
“That’s my meaning of the whole thing is are people prepared to go to heaven or are they not,” McDaniel told KALB.
“I thought it was a perfect time because everybody is talking about the border, some people want it, some don’t want us to have one. The only thing I was shocked about was that it’s racist. I have never in my life been accused of being a racist. I’m 70 years old I haven’t evolved into one.”
While Mac’s regularly features messages on its mailers, this one appears to have struck a nerve with liberals after it went viral on social media.
“How about we build a wall around your store?” one person commented on Facebook.
“Wow what a horrible message,” another person said.
“I’ll no longer shop in your store,” added another triggered liberal.
“Ad is very disrespectful and pure hateful will no longer spend money on any of your products!” yet another person commented.
But others supported McDaniel’s right to religious freedom and free speech.
“I commend you good sir on your find display of Christian values. Well done,” one supporter commented.
“Wished you were by me. You’d have my business for sure,” another said.
“It’s his opinion, people shouldn’t judge him by what he has to say, it’s freedom of speech,” a Louisiana resident told KALB. “I like Mac’s, they are a great store.”
“Absolutely agree and support you 100%,” a veteran wrote on Facebook. “How can folks be mad at this? The Bible does say there is a gate and wall. And while my service in the Army for 21 years help protect everyone’s right to freedom of speech it meant ‘everyone’s!’ Great job. Love the message. Spot on!!!”
“I don’t think it’s a big deal, people believe in what they believe in,” a Ferriday resident commented.
McDaniel admits his message conflated religion with politics, but says he won’t buckle to pressure from triggered liberals who are calling the mailer “racist.”
“If I used a political message and I’m very aware it’s political, to highlight Jesus Christ, then I’m guilty of it,” said McDaniel.
“I appreciate them shopping with me, but this is America they have the privilege of shopping where they want to,” McDaniel said. “All I can do is tell them my case if they want to describe me in some kind of way that I am someone who is not worthy to shop with, I’d be shocked.”
Despite the outcry, McDaniel vows to continue inserting messages into his ads.

U.S.A. ––(Ammoland.com)- While gun rights activists across the country have been focusing considerable attention on the war being waged against Washington state gun owners, because that state is something of a “test tube” for gun control schemes, there’s a second front in the effort to erode the Second Amendment going on south of the Columbia River in neighboring Oregon.
Perhaps the most onerous of these is SB 501 sponsored by a pair of Lake Oswego Democrats – State Sen. Rob Wagner and State Rep. Andrea Salinas – that would require a person to secure a permit before purchasing or otherwise receiving a firearm. This was legislation submitted at the request of the anti-gun Students for Change. The Oregon Firearms Federation (OFF) declared this bill to be “the most extreme” of the anti-gun measures so far before lawmakers in Salem, and the group maintains a roundup of all gun-related bills introduced in Salem.
Under provisions of SB 501, receipt of a firearm without a valid permit could land someone in jail for up to 364 days, and impose a fine of up to $6,250. Failure to secure a firearm with a cable or trigger lock, or in a locked box, could result in 30 days behind bars and a $1,250 fine.
But the most alarming tenet of the bill is a restriction on the amount of ammunition someone can purchase in any 30-day period. SB 501 would limit someone to getting 20 rounds a month. Critics say this ammunition limit is nonsense, as it would effectively preclude practice for competitors, and would be a burden on hunters, especially those who hunt waterfowl or upland birds.
The bill also “Prohibits transfer of firearm by gun dealer or private party until latter of 14 days or Department of State Police has determined that recipient is qualified to receive firearm.”
Then comes SB 87, which would raise the minimum limit at which someone can purchase a firearm to 21 years of age.
Anti-gun Democrat Gov. Kate Brown requested HB 2251, which defines an “assault rifle.” The definition is hardly as sweeping as the one adopted by voters in neighboring Washington last fall with passage of Initiative 1639, but it specifies scores of firearms that would be prohibited. OFF says on its website that the bill “defines ‘assault weapons’ as any long gun you can hold with two hands.” It also would prevent transfer of a handgun or an “assault rifle” to anyone under age 21.

HB 2251 also requires a gun dealer “to post notice concerning obligation to prevent minors from accessing firearm without consent of minor’s parent or guardian.”
Another measure, HB 2546, would create a credit against the personal income tax “for (the) cost of (a) criminal history record check required by state law for the transfer of a firearm.” The bill, sponsored by Monmouth Democrat Rep. Paul Evans, would apply to tax years beginning this year.
Beaver State gun owners dodged the proverbial bullet last year when an initiative effort to completely ban so-called “assault rifles” was derailed. But a new version has been refiled as IP 16.
Meanwhile, the fight over enforcement of anti-gun I-1639 now has about 20 county sheriffs declining to enforce the new law on the grounds that it is unconstitutional and unenforceable. However, the drama has taken on a sinister aspect with the posting of actual threats on social media to kill sheriffs that do not enforce the law. Singled out for special attention is Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich, who told reporters this week that information about the threats has been turned over to the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
There can be no doubt that the Evergreen State has become the petri dish for gun control experimentation, especially since Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat acknowledged as much in a piece published back on Dec. 7, 2018. But the experimentation appears to have crossed the Columbia River and spread up the Willamette River Valley to the Oregon state capitol.

They chanted “Death to America” during the presidencies of Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. But now it only means “Death to Trump.” It’s worth remembering in this context that deception of unbelievers is an Islamic concept based on the Qur’an (3:28), but its theological elaboration as the concept of taqiyya is a specifically Shi’ite enterprise.

Trump pulled out of Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers last year and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran, dealing a blow to the country’s economy.

New Jersey-based Imam Mateen Khan said during a lecture at the Muslim Center of Middlesex County, NJ, (MCMC) that liberalism is a philosophy that requires everybody to adopt it, and that holds that those who don’t accept liberalism are a threat. Giving the example of Afghanistan, which he said the U.S. invaded under the pretext of empowering Afghani women, Khan said that those who don’t accept liberalism are forced to accept it with the pretext of women’s rights, LGBT rights, and combating intolerance. He said that liberals want Muslims to allow them to exercise their freedom of speech to insult the Prophet Muhammad. Later in the lecture, Khan said that the Jews in Europe had been hated and used as a scapegoat because Europeans were antisemitic. He then claimed that some Israeli psychologists had written that the Zionists had successfully convinced the Europeans to hate the Arabs and Palestinians – who he explained are also Semitic – instead of the Jews, by telling them that the Palestinians are the backwards, monotheistic Semites who should really be hated. The lecture was uploaded to MCMC’s YouTube channel on December 30, 2018.

Imam Mateen Khan: When we talk about liberalism we are talking about a political and moral philosophy. The people who are its proponents say it is built on liberty and equality. So what liberals say… They espouse a wide variety of views, depending on their understanding of principles. Like I said, it is a philosophy. It is a world view, it is how you think. So generally, they support the concept of civil rights, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press… Now I know most of us are listening to these words and thinking: “What’s wrong with that?” We will get there.

For those of us old enough to remember when the U.S. invaded Afghanistan: Why did they invade Afghanistan? What was the reason?

It was the empowerment of women. [They said that] the Taliban are not letting the women get an education, and that the Taliban are not letting the women walk in the streets like they used to. And they would show pictures from the 1940s and 1950s, of Afghani women in skirts, walking around freely… [They said:] ‘We need to save these women.’ [They told] the women in this country: “You need to save your sisters. The way that you are living here – don’t you want them to have the same?”

It is a cultural war. It is a philosophy that they want to spread. If you don’t want to adopt [liberalism] on your own… [They say:] “If you as a Muslim people do not want to adopt our philosophy on your own, then we will bring it to you with the excuse of women and LGBT, and the excuse of the intolerance that you have in your land.”

Liberalism, by its core, is meant for everyone. Therefore, everyone must accept it, and if there are people aren’t [accepting it], then that is a threat to [liberals’] core identity. And they need to find a way to get rid of it.

They want you to take on the philosophy of liberalism, and in doing that, you will leave the philosophy that Islam brings with it.

[They say:] “You have to adopt what we believe in, as far as freedoms go. It is our ideology that we should be free to say whatever we want, so you need to let us curse the Prophet Muhammad, because if you don’t, then you are backwards – you are not liberal, and you are not meant for the 21st century.” This is what you are being converted to. [They say:] “You can have Muhammad. He was a great man, but he should not have done what he did to [the Jews of] Banu Qurayza. No one did in history what he did – but he should not have married Aisha.”

Look at the Jews. Historically, the Jews were hated in Europe. They were blamed for all kinds of problems. They were the scapegoat. When something went bad, the Jews [were blamed]. [They said:] “We have a plague? [It’s the fault of] the Jews. There is a recession? [It’s the fault of] the Jews.” This is what they did with them, no matter how long they stayed in Europe. No matter how much they tried to be European, they were still the “other.”

[The Europeans] were antisemitic. But historians tell us, and we know, the Semites are the Jews and who else? The Arabs, the Semites are the Jews and the Arabs. The same way they held bad feelings towards the Jews, they held them towards the Arabs as well. For them there is no difference between an Arab and a Muslim from another land.

So the Jews could never escape their origin. No matter how European they became, they still were in origin, in culture, in background… They remained Jewish to them. They were always the “other.” Israeli psychologists wrote about Zionism. The Zionists were very clever. When they started petitioning Europe for the State of Israel, one of the tactics that they used, is that they tried to convince the Europeans – and they were successful in doing this… [They said:] “We are one of you, and the Semites that you dislike are the Palestinians.” Right, the Semites are two peoples: the Jews and the Arabs. So what they did, they said: “The Semites are two peoples, two groups. In reality, the group that you dislike – that is the Semites, those are the Arabs.” That is Palestine. But the Jews… [They said:] “The Semites that you should like, that is – we are the Jews. You should like us, we are like you. We believe in democracy. We are Western, just like you are.” In fact, most Jews today are secularists. So even in philosophy they are just like they are. But the Palestinians? No, these guys are backwards. For the first time ever Disney is going officially gay for a day as it hosts its LGBTQ-themed “Magical Pride” event June 1 at Disney’s theme park in Paris.
As reported by the gay website Queerty, “For years, LGBTQ tourists have visited Disney theme parks en masse to celebrate ‘Gay Days’ at the Magic Kingdom.” But this is the first time a Disney park has officially veered from its family-friendly posture and openly celebrated the homosexual culture. On its official MagicalPride.com website, Disney insists that the special gay day is open to “anyone and everyone,” even as it concedes that it is “primarily” designed for the “LGBT community” along with “friends and families” who buy into that sort of thing.
Noting that the “Magical Pride” event will “reportedly” include an official “Magical March of Diversity Parade,” Queerty reported that Disney’s “decision to finally host an official LGBTQ Pride event comes 28 years after the first Disney Gay Days in 1991, during which 3,000 gay and lesbian visitors from central Florida attended the Disney World theme park.”
In a statement to NBC News, a Disney Company spokesperson said that “diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender, or sexual orientation. We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all of our guests where magic is for everyone.”

Over the past few years, the Disney brand has been gradually slipping homosexuality into its various projects. For example, such Disney-produced and/or broadcast films and series as Beauty and the Beast, Doc McStuffins, and Star vs. the Forces of Evil have included “gay” characters. Additionally, Disney’s upcoming animated film Jungle Cruise will reportedly feature an openly homosexual character.

Last year, Disney introduced LGBT-themed “rainbow” Mickey Ears at some of its theme parks, and followed up with the “Mickey Mouse Rainbow Love” Hat in time for “Gay Pride” month in June.
In 2007, reported CBS News, Disney “opened Cinderella’s Castle to same-sex weddings. The Walt Disney Company had originally limited its Fairy Tale Wedding program to couples with valid marriage licenses. Same-sex marriage was not legal in most places at the time, but Disney decided to make ceremonies at its parks available to gay couples.”
Over the years, a number of conservative, pro-family groups have been warning of Disney’s subtle slide from wholesome family entertainment into what many consider moral compromise. While most such groups have been silent on Disney’s latest move, one Christian leader is speaking up. Janet Boynes, a former lesbian who now works to expose the activist homosexual agenda, and to help individuals overcome unwanted same-sex attraction, said that it is important for individuals and families who embrace traditional values to pay attention to the direction Disney appears to be heading. “It’s no secret that homosexual activists are aggressively targeting institutions that once embraced traditional family values,” Boynes told The New American. “That includes places like Disney theme parks, that were originally designed to be welcome places for families to make wonderful memories. Can anyone imagine Walt Disney’s reaction at discovering that what he created as a haven for families now caters to open homosexuality? Sadly, it seems that individuals and families who care about traditional values may soon have to find more wholesome alternatives to Disney’s parks.”

She’s not as ambitious as Stalin or Mao with their five-year plans — she needs 10 years. But that’s all it will take, claims Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), to completely overhaul the American economy, achieving net-zero CO2 emissions, a total fossil-fuel phase-out, and the combustion engine’s and air travel’s elimination. A long way from stealing tips at the bar, it’s her version of Year Zero.
But zero is precisely what our economy would be if the greenhorn congresswoman got her way with her “Green New Deal.” Unveiled Thursday morning, it’s a top-down, Big Brother scheme that promises the world and to save the world and, fancifully, to turn a profit in the process.
Calling it perhaps “the most far-reaching proposal to ever be considered in Congress,” Fox News writes that Ocasio-Cortez’ plan would also “upgrade or replace every building in America to ensure energy efficiency and give economic security even to those ‘unwilling’ to work.” (By the way, if this comes to pass, count me “unwilling.”) 
“‘Today is the day that we truly embark on a comprehensive agenda of economic, social and racial justice in the United States of America,’ she said alongside Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and other lawmakers outside the Capitol. ‘That’s what this agenda is all about,’” Fox also reports.
The resolution is non-binding, a mere vision at this point of Democrat “thought leaders’” intentions for our future. These thinkers don’t, however, include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — who assuredly finds Ocasio-Cortez an irritating threat to her power — as she dismissively characterized the upstart’s scheme as the “green dream or whatever they call it.”
Yet 2020 Democrat presidential hopefuls were much more receptive, with figures such as senators Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren, (D-Mass.), and Cory Booker (D-N.J) all happily co-sponsoring the resolution. As they tweeted:

Of course, these politicians know a certain principle well: It costs nothing to promise and posture.

That is, unless it ultimately makes you look radical and stupid. Fox News’ Dana Perino, appearing on Tucker Carlson Tonight’s Thursday edition (video below), theorized that this just might, in fact, happen with these Democrats.
Carlson called the proposal “reckless and dumb.” Yet it’s hard to really get a sense of how truly radical and risible but yet dangerous the resolution is without reading it yourself. Aside from what has already been mentioned, however, here are some highlights (lowlights?). The plan promises:
• the development of high-speed rail “at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) noted that this “would be pretty hard for Hawaii” (nah, not once we complete Obama’s intercontinental railroad);
• a “job with a family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and retirement security”;
• “access to nature” (whatever that means);
• to build electric “charging stations everywhere”; and
• to eliminate all nuclear power plants.
The resolution ignores science and sanity and can read like Bart Simpson meets the Bolsheviks. Just consider the following passage from the Green New Deal FAQ released by Ocasio-Cortez’ office to PBS:
“We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero.”
The resolution is rife with divisive lies. It cites as a problem the male-female wage gap, when it has been definitively shown that it’s a function of the sexes’ different career and lifestyle choices, not discrimination, and that trying to eliminate it hurts married women and their children. It bemoans how white families have 20 times more wealth than black families, ignoring that Asians earn more than whites. Why?
Because whites are the “intersectional” leftists’ scapegoat and the common enemy used to help bind the disparate left-wing groups together. There’s no percentage in attacking Asians (yet).
Ocasio-Cortez’ one saving grace in her Green New Deal is that, like a doctrinaire Marxist, she’s often blunt about her intentions. “Yes, we are calling for a full transition off fossil fuels and zero greenhouse gases,” the FAQ acknowledges. And the FAQ’s “Overview” section boasts: “This is a massive transformation of our society with clear goals and a timeline.”
Yet clear goals don’t necessarily denote clear thinking. Comically tragic here is that this whole scheme is based upon the unscientific global-warming thesis, whose adherents’ computer-model predictions have failed time and again. Yet the alarmists still insist that, this time, they surely must be right.
This just reflects environmentalist doomsayers’ history, though. How bad have their predictions been? Hint: We’re all supposed to be either dead of starvation by now or living among 22.6 million other miserable American survivors.
The kicker is that even if man’s CO2 emissions were creating a warmer planet, so what? The Left often touts “science,” but here’s what science also has told us:
• Plants and animals do better in warmer times with higher CO2 levels.
• The world will end because of too little CO2 — in approximately 1,000,000,000 A.D.  
• We’re poised to enter a new ice age.
• Reducing the global temperature three-tenths of one degree by the century’s end — meaning, postponing so-called “global warming” less than four years — would cost $100 trillion.
And believe these assertions or not, perhaps countless trillions are what the Green Raw Deal would cost. Ocasio-Cortez blows this off like a valley girl with daddy’s credit card. She says this is our WWII; it’s more like our Waterloo.
The freest nations (e.g., us) have the cleanest environments, and, in fact, China emits more CO2than the United States and the European Union combined. We can morally preen and posture, but do you think China and, for that matter, India will follow us over the green cliff?
It has been fashionable to make jokes about Ocasio-Cortez, but don’t laugh. For what makes her set so dangerous is that they’re ignorant of most everything — except how to gain power.

Yesterday, the Democrats found out that their new stars aren’t merely leftists approaching the definition of communist, but instead are so unmoored from reality that they spout what amounts to gibberish.
The first example, of course, is Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which was so ridiculous her staff took down its webpage. When the Wall Street Journal’s Kim Strassel read it, she said that she laughed so hard she nearly cried. “If a bunch of GOPers plotted to forge a fake Democratic bill showing how bonkers the party is,” she tweeted, “they could not have done a better job. It is beautiful.”
Happily, AOC, as she is now known, didn’t stop there.
She then took to the microphones outside the Capitol with three comrades. The leftist quartet included her two anti-Semitic comrades, Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and the speaker, Democrat Representative Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, another of the unhinged radicals whom voters unwisely sent to Capitol Hill.
Message: Abolish ICE
That’s right. In AOC’s Green Utopia of no planes, cars, or cows — immigration enforcement, and presumably borders, would also come to an end.
Tears While Talking
Speaking at an event organized by the subversive MoveOn.org, AOC opined that ICE and its enforcement of immigration law “is one of the most urgent moral issues and crises that we have in America right now. This is not a political issue. Children dying in detention centers should not be a partisan concern. It should be a universal concern for every American in the United States.”
She claimed the president was against all immigration, as the video posted at Breitbart.com shows, and that he lied during his State of the Union address in saying he supported legal immigration. She also defamed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, declaring she “has no idea when she goes in front of a hearing how many children are dying in her own care, under her own watch.”
Of course, no children have died in Nielsen’s care or “under her own watch” — a leftist lie peddled to hide the truth that reckless parents are at fault. Children who died “in the custody” of ICE did not die because of ICE, but because their parents irresponsibly dragged them across the border, hoping the children would bolster a false asylum claim. One child died of the flu, which he contracted on his journey, because his father refused medical care.
ICE “does not deserve a dime” and won’t get one, she said. “I will not give one dollar to a secretary who does not care about [a migrant child’s] life and does not care to investigate a child’s death. I will not give one dollar to black box detention facilities that think that some people in this country are deserving of constitutional protections and others are not.”
After that, AOC jumped the tracks completely. Having claimed the United States is a “nation of laws,” she suggested that “Latino people” are not subject to the same laws as everyone else. “We are standing on Native land, and Latino people are descendants of Native people,” she said. “And we cannot be told and criminalized simply for our identity and our status.”
Helpfully, AOC squirted a few tears for the cameras.
Somali Gratitude
Omar, who, evidence strongly suggests, married her brother to perpetrate immigration fraud, explained that “we need to feel the pain and the struggle, the hopes, and dreams of the people who this president likes to demonize.”
The Muslim Somali refugee falsely claimed, Breitbart reported, that illegal aliens heading for the southern border are “are leaving situations where it is safer for them to risk starvation, to risk possible rape, to risk possible death because they know the smallest hope of survival is much more [sic] bigger and better than just standing still and waiting, waiting to not have a new opportunity to start anew.”
In fact, almost 100 percent of “migrants” head for the border with the aim of filing a false asylum claim and then finding work, as government data show and the illegal aliens themselves admit. After they file, they disappear, find a job, then attach themselves to the welfare state to get a “free” education, “free” healthcare, and a cornucopia of other “free” benefits. Deporting them becomes impossible.
That truth aside, Omar falsely claimed that illegal aliens are “detained and tortured.” Like AOC, Omar attacked the Trump administration and said a few more things unworthy of reporting.
Pressley, a garden-variety black leftist, Tlaib, a Muslim radical whose main cause is her fellow Palestinians, not her constituents, burbled similar nonsense.

Lt. Col. E. Ray Moore (Ret.), executive director of Exodus Mandate, has made it his mission to lead an “exodus” of Christians out of government schools. Instead of public education, he advocates that Christian children move to the “promised land” of homeschooling and Christian schools. “Christian children need Christian education,” reads a bumper sticker by Frontline Ministries, which Moore founded more than two decades ago.
The soft-spoken conservative heavyweight was a pioneer in the homeschooling movement, educating his own children at home long before it was approved by government or society. And he was the first to organize around the idea of abandoning government schools entirely. As part of his efforts, Moore authored the book Let My Children Go. He also served as executive producer of the hit film IndoctriNation, as well as Escaping Common Core: Setting Our Children Free.
In 2017, Moore was interviewed by James Dobson, one of America’s most influential evangelical leaders, on the nationally syndicated show Family Talk heard on hundreds of stations. And now, 20 years after he launched his exodus effort, more and more conservative and Christian leaders are realizing the need to separate school and state. Moore offered some of his insight on these topics in an exclusive interview with The New American magazine.
The New American: Why did you form Exodus Mandate?
Ray Moore: In February 1997, 20 years after my wife and I began homeschooling our children, I attended the major briefing in Washington, D.C., on the danger of the Goals 2000 agenda. Co-chaired by the late Phyllis Schlafly and Congressman Henry Hyde and sponsored by a dozen major conservative and Christian Right organizations, including Heritage Foundation, Concerned Women for America, and the Home School Legal Defense Association, the briefing featured a myriad of prominent speakers. They spent the day wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth at the juggernaut of the leftist agenda embedded in Goals 2000, with no concrete plan to defeat it. Incredulous, I thought, “Not even our best leaders have a plan!” Exodus Mandate was born in my heart that day, and I went home with a hope of extracting several million children from the leftist-controlled public schools. I spent the next eight months planning and seeking counsel. In November 1997, I made a public announcement that I was forming Exodus Mandate during the weekend of the Promise Keepers rally in Washington, D.C.
TNA: If not federally controlled public schools, what education system should America have?
Moore: There are two competing models. The first is state-sponsored public education, now federally controlled. The second and original American model was private, community, or Christian schools. We birthed America depending on private and Christian education. Now the modern K-12 public-school system has developed into an entirely socialistic model. Schools today are neither for the public nor run by the public. If churches, families, and free market private associations will give birth to new schools or homeschool co-ops, we can recover the original American model, which corresponds to the biblical model. This could spark a revival in our families, churches, and culture, as well as a rebirth of the American spirit of freedom we once knew. Crime would be reduced and a moral and social order could be restored to our communities.
With a plethora of conservative churches in America, thousands of new Christian schools or homeschool co-ops could be launched, requiring no new construction in most cases. Thousands of Christian public-school teachers, some retired, could assist in staffing the new and enlarged Christian school system waiting to be reborn. All that is lacking now is a will and vision to disciple children through K-12 Christian education. Some say this new model is impossible. But impossible things happen every day. Matthew 19:26 says, “With God all things are possible.”
TNA: Why do you believe efforts to reform public education are futile?
Moore: Efforts by conservative public-school reformers to fix the socialistic, K-12 public school model impede revival of free market and Christian education. This is worse than time wasted. State-sponsored public education is socialism in education. Socialism breeds scarcity and mediocrity. Everything that functions successfully in society operates under the free market. No one would want the federal government deciding where we could eat meals or buy groceries, yet we allow that same government to tell us where and how our children’s minds are to be nourished — or starved. Socialism is a faulty model and must be abandoned, most emphatically in education.
TNA: What impediments hinder a revived K-12 free market, Christian and homeschool system?
Moore: National conservative political and policy organizations spend their energies and resources on litigation, lobbying, protesting, and political campaigns and very little on moral and cultural renewal. The Left knows that control of education, both K-12 public education and higher education, means control of the youth and thus ownership of the future. In October 2018, I heard Fox News commentator Frank Luntz say that 58 percent of millennials are self-identified socialists, and in the next two, four, or six years conservatives will start to lose all major elections.
TNA: How are the clergy and religious leaders helping?
Moore: Many conservative pastors and denominational leaders are negligent. According to a Barna study, only nine percent of conservative pastors are very strongly supportive of K-12 Christian education, with an additional 21 percent moderately supportive, meaning they send their own children to Christian schools, but may not preach and teach this to their congregations. The Southern Baptist Convention, 47,000 congregations, has only 750 church-based schools, an amazing statistic of neglect by the largest Protestant denomination….
Conservatives, Christians, and libertarians, instead of lobbying an unresponsive government, should lobby and demand their pastors, denominational leaders, and the conservative policy organizations to get behind the K-12 free market and Christian education efforts. That would be time well spent impacting the culture.
TNA: Have you noticed increasing support for your position?
Moore: Yes, many new trends show dedication to the growth of free market, Christian, or homeschools: dozens of new organizations, secular and religious. I am involved in launching a Christian education network to be announced publicly in early 2019 for exploring ways we can work in a more collaborative fashion to impact the church. We now have 15 members, some substantial with a long history of service, such as Foundation for American Christian Education and The Old Schoolhouse magazine. Exodus Mandate has helped create two movies, IndoctriNation andEscaping Common Core. We’ve published books and the short three-minute DVD “Call to Dunkirk.”
An infrastructure is growing that can accommodate millions of children in the next decade. Fifty state homeschool associations and the National Black Home Educators are thriving, and large regional conventions draw tens of thousands of families and local homeschool support groups. Publishing houses, curriculum providers, and online educational programs abound, such as FreedomProject Academy, Alpha Omega, Abeka Academy, Bob Jones online, Liberty University Online Academy, Apologia, the Robinson curriculum, Classical Conversations, and the list goes on.
TNA: How can readers help advance the mission?
Moore: First and foremost, get your children into the safe sanctuary of K-12 Christian or homeschooling immediately. Urge your church to start a Christian school or coordinate with other churches to do so. Study the case for free market, Christian education vs. state-sponsored public education. Share the many valuable books, DVDs, and articles with your pastor, elder/deacon board, church council, or denominational leadership. Order extra copies of this special issue for family and friends. Set up scholarship programs or benevolence for poor and needy families to attend private or Christian schools.

Jorge Bergoglio, also known as “Pope Francis,” and Islamic Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand imam of Al Azhar, met together this week and signed a declaration calling for tolerance and peace among the nations of the world, as well as dialogue between the world’s religions and cultures, which includes cooperation in tackling society’s ills. The move has been questioned by some as being another step toward one world religion.
According to Vatican News, the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” was signed on Monday in Abu Dhabi, and calls for “all persons who have faith in God and faith in human fraternity to unite and work together.”
It also declares “in the name of God,” and on behalf of those who identify as Muslim and Catholic, “the adoption of a culture of dialogue as the path; mutual cooperation as the code of conduct; reciprocal understanding as the method and standard.”
“We, who believe in God and in the final meeting with Him and His judgment, on the basis of our religious and moral responsibility, and through this document, call upon ourselves, upon the leaders of the world as well as the architects of international policy and world economy, to work strenuously to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace,” the document states.
In speaking on the freedom of religion, it asserts that “the diversity of religions … are willed by God,” and that men should not be “forced to adhere to a certain religion or culture.”
“The pluralism and the diversity of religions, color, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings,” the document reads. “This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives. Therefore, the fact that people are forced to adhere to a certain religion or culture must be rejected, as too the imposition of a cultural way of life that others do not accept.”
It additionally condemns violence in the name of religion, and urges the nations of the world to work together toward tolerance and peace. The declaration further touches on mutual beliefs about subjects such as protecting life, caring for the poor and elderly, and supporting the rights of women and children.
“[E]veryone must safeguard this gift of life from its beginning up to its natural end. We therefore condemn all those practices that are a threat to life such as genocide, acts of terrorism, forced displacement, human trafficking, abortion and euthanasia,” the document states. “Dialogue among believers means coming together in the vast space of spiritual, human and shared social values and, from here, transmitting the highest moral virtues that religions aim for.”
It expresses a desire for the signed statement to serve as “a witness to the greatness of faith in God that unites divided hearts and elevates the human soul” and “a sign of the closeness … between all who believe that God has created us to understand one another, cooperate with one another and live as brothers and sisters who love one another.”
Bergoglio and the Sunni leader embraced and kissed during the signing ceremony, which was attended by hundreds of leaders of various faiths.
In commenting on the matter, Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Southlake, Texas noted 10 similarities between Islam and Roman Catholicism, including that they both have sought world domination.
“Could these religions which control people with indoctrination, intimidation, and fear be a precursor to the rule of Anti-christ?” he asked.
Gendron believes that the Vatican is working toward the unification of all the religions, telling Christian News Network in 2016 that Bergoglio “continues to build bridges to Islam [and] his ultimate goal is to rebuild the religious tower of Babel.”
As previously reported, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 841, reads, “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims. These profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
Bergoglio has met with Muslim leaders on a number of other occasions, including when he bowed his head alongside Grand Mufti Rahmi Yaran in Turkey’s Blue Mosque. In 2012, he held an ecumenical meeting, during which he praised the Muslim leaders in attendance as being those who “adore the one, living, and merciful God and who call upon Him in prayer.” In 2015, he referred to Muslims as his “brothers and sisters.”
“These two religions represent a huge mission field with nearly three billion precious souls. They need to know the true Jesus and submit to His Word as their supreme authority,” Gendron stated on Thursday. “Only then will they repent of their works-righteousness salvation and believe the glorious Gospel of grace. As ambassadors for Christ, let us sow the seed of His Word.”

Why does this keep happening? One survivor of a Muslim rape gang in the UK said that her rapists would quote Quran to her, and believed their actions justified by Islam.
The Qur’an teaches that Infidel women can be lawfully taken for sexual use (cf. its allowance for a man to take “captives of the right hand,” 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (33:59) The implication there is that if women do not cover themselves adequately with their outer garments, they may be abused, and that such abuse would be justified.
And Shivzad’s choice of a primary school-age is reminiscent of the 54-year-old Muhammad consummating his marriage with the nine-year-old Aisha.

A vile sexual abuser who raped and molested a very young girl has been caged for 15 years.
Hewad Shivzad isolated the primary school-age girl and lured her away to subject her to a sexual attack lasting 30 to 40 minutes.
He ignored her pleas for him to stop, sexually assaulted her and forced himself on her, Teesside Crown Court heard.
A judge said the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was a blameless, charming, innocent and “innately kind” girl.
Prosecutor Aisha Wadoodi said: “The child is particularly vulnerable.”
She read out a moving statement from the girl’s mother, who said: “I’m worried that this will have ruined her life.”
The mum said the rape massively affected her daughter, leading to anger, violent behaviour and harming herself.
“We are really struggling as a family,” she added.
“She talks about what happened all the time. I think that she’s depressed. I really need some help for her.”

‘I feel that this has ruined our lives’

She added: “I’m also suffering depression. I feel distraught about what has happened to (my daughter) and our family.
“I feel that this has ruined our lives. We need help and justice.
“I want to move somewhere else but I can’t do this.”
Shivzad – who claimed to be 19, to the disbelief of his sentencing judge – denied the rape and sexual assault from August last year….
He jailed Shivzad for 15 years, plus a year’s additional supervision.
The Parole Board will decide whether it is safe to release him after he has served half of his sentence.
Turning to the issue of Shivzad’s age, the judge said: “He claims to be 19. I don’t believe him.
“If he were 19 he should be in a young offenders’ institution. My view is he should be in prison.
“He’s obviously older than 21. But the Prison Service will have to judge where to keep him.”
He told Shivzad: “You maintain that you are a 19-year-old man. I’ve seen no documents to support that claim and to my eyes you appear substantially older.
“It’s my view that your claim to be so young is a lie told when you entered the UK in March 2017 to claim asylum.”…

AUSTIN, Texas — More than 70,000 petitions calling for the governor of Texas to make outlawing abortion an “emergency item” for the new legislative session were delivered to Gov. Greg Abbott’s on Monday. However, the governor did not mention the issue of abortion at all during his “State of the State” address on Tuesday, but rather chose five other emergency items as his focus.
“Over 70,000 petitions have been signed over the last 39 days,” announced Bradley Pierce of Abolish Abortion Texas during a press conference. “90 percent of those are Texans. … The last four days, more than 4,000 people a day have been signing this petition.”
As previously reported, last June, Gov. Abbott called Jeremiah Thomas, a 16-year-old boy who was fighting osteoblastic osteosarcoma, as Thomas wanted to talk to Abbott about passing a bill to abolish abortion in the state of Texas as his dying wish. Thomas died in August.
“For my wish, I wanted to talk to you and discuss a bill of abolition,” he explained, while speaking from his hospital room at McLane Children’s Hospital. “[W]e want you to treat abortion like an act of murder that should be punished by law.”
“I know that it must be difficult standing against a whole federal beast that forces abortion on us, but I think that we … could end abortion here and now,” Thomas said.
Abbott’s response made Thomas smile. He noted that the Texas Republican party platform expresses a desire to abolish abortion, and that lawmakers planned on putting forward a bill that would make abortion illegal in the state.
“Your wish is on the Republican party platform and it’s what we’re going to be pursuing this next legislative session—that’s to outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas,” he told Thomas, the recording of which was posted to social media. “And so, your wish has been granted.”
The legislation referenced by Abbott is that of Rep. Tony Tinderholt, R-Arlington, who similarly presented a bill in 2017 to abolish abortion, but it was stalled by the speaker of the House. Tinderholt has re-filed his bill for the 2019 legislative season.
Tinderholt told reporters upon first filing the measure that the bill is in response to language in the Texas Republican Party platform, which was passed in May 2016, calling for the complete abolition of abortion in the state.
“We call upon the Texas legislature to enact legislation stopping the murder of unborn children; and to ignore and refuse to enforce any and all federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, and court rulings, which would deprive an unborn child of the right to life,” the platform text reads.
As the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act, House Bill 948, was again put forward with the new legislative session, a campaign was launched in late December to urge Abbott to get behind the effort and make the matter an “emergency item.”
However, during his state of the state address on Tuesday, Abbott did not mention the issue of abortion at all, but according to the Dallas Morning News, he rather chose five other focuses for his emergency items: school finance, teacher pay, school safety, caps on property tax increases, and improving state response to natural disasters in light of Hurricane Harvey.
“[N]ot only did he not mention Jeremiah, not only did he not mention … [the bill presented] to outlaw abortion in Texas, he did not mention the 55,000 preborn children who are killed in the state every year whatsoever,” Pierce commented in an online video, recorded from the state capitol building. “We’re disappointed.”
“He said today that Texas is the most powerful state in the Union. While the governor of New York is leading the country in hating the lives of the unborn, the governor of the most powerful state in the Union …. is leading the nation by leading us in doing nothing to save those lives of the 55,000 preborn children in Texas and the million children in this country who are being killed every year,” he said.
Pierce expressed a hopefulness that the governor would still get behind Tinderholt’s bill in some way, and added that his hope is not in man, but in God.
“I believe that Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional,” he also opined during Monday’s press conference. “Where the Supreme Court has ignored the Constitution, then we are duty-bound to ignore the court.”

Hillsong is a church in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, the largest church in that country (formerly Hills Christian Life Centre), long affiliated with the Assemblies of God. It is co-pastored by the Houstons, a husband-wife team: Brian (author of “You Need More Money”) and Bobbie (author of “Kingdom Women Love Sex”). Hillsong is also a growing family of churches around the world. There are Hillsong affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, London, Madrid, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Paris, Zurich, Sao Paulo, Tel Aviv, and Moscow, among other places. Hillsong churches are among the most influential producers of contemporary worship music, music that is used by all denominations, even by some Independent Baptists after a lot of the rock & roll is squeezed out. Darlene Zschech of “Shout to the Lord” fame was worship leader at Hillsong Sydney for 25 years before becoming co-pastor with her husband of Hope Unlimited Church in 2010. Hillsong has long been radicallyecumenical. In a 2004 interview with Christianity Today, Zschech expressed her philosophy: “I’ve been in the Catholic Church, in the United Church, the Anglican Church, and in many other churches, and when worship is offered in truth, this sound emerges-regardless of the style” (Michael Herman, “Zschech, Please,” christianitytoday.com, June 4, 2004). She doesn’t explain how worship can be “in truth” in the context of an ecumenical unity among denominations that teach doctrinal error. Zschech and Hillsong performed for the Roman Catholic World Youth Day in Sydney on July 18, 2008. Pope Benedict XVI conducted a papal mass on the last day of the extravaganza. On July 3-4, 2015, Zschech and Hillsong joined hands with the pope at the Convocation of the Renewal of the Holy Spirit at the Vatican. The Catholic mass was celebrated at the event led by Cardinal Angelo Comastri. According to blasphemous Catholic dogma, the priest has the power to turn the bread into the actual body and blood of Jesus, and it is then worshiped in the form of the consecrated host. We wonder if Hillsong addressed some of their enthusiastic worship to Rome’s Host-Jesus? Pope Francis praised the charismatic movement’s zeal for unity and said that Christian unity is “rooted in a common baptism” (“Pope Greets Members of the Renewal,” July 4, 2015, FullyCatholic.com). According to Roman Catholic dogma, baptism is the new birth and the entrance into the Christian life which is then nurtured by the sacraments. It is a cursed “grace plus works” gospel (Galatians 1:8-9) which the Catholic Church in recent times has cleverly rebranded as “grace only.” In Rome, Darlene Zschech and Hillsong sang “God Is Here,” but whatever God they were singing about, it is not the God revealed in Scripture, for He does not countenance heresy, false gospels, and rebellion to His Word. We wonder if the Hillsong folk took the time to visit Rome’s Santa Maria Maggoire (Saint Mary Major) basilica to pray to the Queen of Heaven and to meditate on the statue of Mary hanging on the cross with Jesus? Hillsong United participated in Together 2016 in Washington, D.C., joining hands in that forum with Pope Francis, who delivered a message by video. Most recently, January 31-February 1, 2019, Hillsong Phoenix hosted the annual Alpha Conference. Catholic priest Mike Schmitz, one of the speakers, conducted a Catholic mass. Fundamental Baptists and Bible-believing churches that use contemporary praise music are playing with fire. This music brings with it a philosophy that will change the character of any “fundamentalist” church. It builds bridges to the “broader church,” which is progressing toward the formation of a one-world apostasy.

Dearborn, Michigan, nicknamed “Dearbornistan,” is the U.S. city with the largest percentage of Arab Americans. The Arab-American National Museum (AANM) is located in Dearborn because, its director said, “Dearborn is the heart of Arab-America.” The majority of these Arab American residents are Shiite Muslims from south Lebanon and Iraq. The Islamic Center of America in Dearborn is the largest Shiite mosque in the United States. 
Dearborn was also the hometown of Henry Ford, the auto industrialist whose factories attracted Arab immigrants to Dearborn in the 1920s. “Palestinian Muslims arrived in the second decade of the 20th century, attracted by the prospect of work on the assembly lines that produced Ford’s revolutionary Model ‘T’,” according to a report in the National. While Ford was heralding the arrival of Arab immigrants to this country to work in his factory, he was also widely spreading his virulent anti-Semitic blood libel.
However, the mayor of Dearborn today, John B. O’Reilly, Jr. (pictured above), wants to sugarcoat the unpleasant part of Ford’s biography dealing with his many anti-Semitic writings and pronouncements. Mayor O’Reilly decided to ban the distribution of a city-financed historical journal containing an unflattering article about Henry Ford’s record of anti-Semitism that the mayor deemed to be too much of a “distraction” for Dearborn’s “diverse” population. He also severed the city’s ties with the editor of the publication and long-time Dearborn resident, Bill McGraw, who had written the article to educate Dearborn residents today regarding their hometown hero Ford’s “dark sides.”
Mr. McGraw’s article ran afoul of the mayor’s politically correct speech code. “It was thought that by presenting information from 100 years ago that included hateful messages — without a compelling reason directly linked to events in Dearborn today — this edition of The Historian could become a distraction from our continuing messages of inclusion and respect,” Mayor O’Reilly said in a statement issued last Friday. Although Mr. McGraw’s article can still be read online, Mayor O’Reilly’s moves to block the distribution of Mr. McGraw’s article and to sever the city’s ties with him were punitive acts that most likely violated the First Amendment.
The mayor claimed that Ford’s anti-Semitic views were old news, no longer relevant to today’s “diverse” Dearborn population. The exact opposite is true. Ford’s writings are just as popular with some white nationalist extremists today as when they inspired Adolf Hitler. Ford’s writings also appeal to Jew-hating Islamists. His hate speech against the Jews’ aspirations for a state of their own in the Holy Land has a sympathetic audience amongst Dearborn’s current Arab-American and Muslim population.
“The Zionist propaganda has always been accepted on the assumption that Palestine is the Jews’ land and that they only need help to go back,” Ford wrote in his publication entitled The International Jew: The World’s Foremost Problem. “It is an historical and political fact that Palestine has not been the Jews’ land for more than 2,000 years.” As for Jews emigrating to the Holy Land to escape religious persecution, Ford decried what he described as the “propaganda of pogroms” disseminated by Zionists.
Some of those protesting against Israel in Dearborn today have lauded the terrorist organization Hezbollah. They believe, like Ford, that Jews have no legitimate historical claim to the land of Israel. They have regularly chanted, in celebration of a massacre of Jews in the days of Prophet Mohammed, “Oh, Jews, remember Khaibar. The army of the Prophet will return.” 
Mayor O’Reilly channeled Ford’s pro-Arab anti-Zionism when he joined a protest rally in December 2017 consisting mainly of Dearborn’s Muslim community. They had gathered to denounce President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The mayor declared that he stood with the Palestinian community and shared their goals. A child was photographed at the rally holding a sign stating succinctly what the Palestinians stand for: “Ending Zionism Ends Racism!!!”
Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Michigan, and Imam Elahi, spiritual leader at the Islamic House of Wisdom, were amongst the anti-Israel speakers at the rally attended by Mayor O’Reilly.
“We’ve seen the same protests in European enclaves from throwback, bigoted anti-Israel racists, especially in areas with large Muslim populations,” former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann told WND. “Politicians in Dearborn and Europe who represent these anti-Semites continually cater to and appease the racist, bigoted views of their newest, often foreign-born voters,” she added.
Imad Hamad, American Human Rights Council’s executive director, said in a release issued to announce the rally that “one can be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. President Trump’s provocation on Jerusalem has made many countries in the world, regrettably, perceive the U.S. as a big part of the problem.” Hamad himself is the real provocateur who has used the Jerusalem issue as a pretext to delegitimize Israel’s very existence. He displayed his true beliefs last June when he joined other Arab American and Muslim community leaders in a news conference to denounce Israel. They expressed their support for Palestinians demanding return to their villages in Israel “from which they were uprooted by Israeli terror in 1948.” Such a mass “return” of millions of so-called Palestinian refugees, most of whom were born years after 1948, would mark the end of the Jewish state of Israel. 
Yet in the face of such incendiary anti-Israel rhetoric Mayor O’Reilly still believes that Hamad and his organization play a constructive, problem-solving role. Last October, months after the news conference, the mayor praised Hamad for looking at issues from a perspective of bringing people together and achieving consensus. Once again, the mayor decided to appease today’s anti-Semites.
Mayor O’Reilly has been making excuses for Islamists for years.  As far back as 2007, he delayed a public announcement of the arrest of a Muslim medical student and Dearborn resident, Houssein Zorkot, who was found in a public park dressed in fatigues and armed with a fully loaded AK-47. The mayor was worried, in his words, that “this would have turned into a story about terrorism. That’s not the kind of tone we want to set.” What kind of tone did this mayor want to set? Did he think that an armed individual sympathetic to Hezbollah, who had uploaded to his website on the day of his arrest an image that included a photo of a soldier holding a rifle, with the caption “The Start of My Personal Jihad (in the US),” was just engaging in some harmless fun?
In 2010, Mayor O’Reilly justified the arrest of three Christians while they were answering questions from children and others attending the Arab International Festival in Dearborn. He had decried what he viewed as the Christians’ “attack on the City of Dearborn for having tolerance for all religions including believers in the Koran.” In the spirit of Sharia law, the mayor thought the sensibilities of the “believers in the Koran” outweighed the Christians’ First Amendment rights to express their own religious beliefs in public. He had to eat crow after the Christians were acquitted.
It is time for Mayor O’Reilly to eat some crow again. He should either reverse his decision regarding Bill McGraw’s article on Henry Ford’s anti-Semitism and reinstate Mr. McGraw, as officials with the Dearborn Historical Commission have urged, or he should resign his office. Henry Ford’s brand of anti-Semitism has no expiration date. To deliberately whitewash Ford’s anti-Semitic history is to say that exposing anti-Semitism no longer matters.  But it does matter more than ever, including most especially in Dearborn.

WASHINGTON — During his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, President Trump expressed a desire to “build a culture that cherishes innocent life,” and urged the passage of a bill that would ban abortions later in a woman’s pregnancy when children can feel pain. Reaction to his remarks have been mixed as some have denounced Trump’s words, asserting that his characterization of the New York abortion law was misleading, while others have said that his legislative goals should have gone further to outlaw abortion altogether.
“I am … proud to be the first president to include in my budget a plan for nationwide paid family leave, so that every new parent has the chance to bond with their newborn child,” he declared, receiving applause.
Trump then segued his comments about mothers and their newborns to the abortion bills that are the center of discussion in recent weeks.
“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth,” he said.
Trump was referring to the New York Reproductive Health Act that, as previously reported, not only enshrines the right to abortion in state law, but allows allows for abortion past 24 weeks—and without limitation—if the baby is not expected to survive or in instances deemed necessary to “protect” the life or health of the mother.
“Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry the pregnancy to term, to give birth to a child, or to have an abortion,” the Reproductive Health Act reads in part. “A health care practitioner … may perform an abortion when … the patient is within twenty-four weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or the abortion is necessary to protect the patient’s life or health.”
As previously reported, the law language reflects the 1973 Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade, in which Justice Harry Blackmun, nominated to the bench by Republican president Richard Nixon, wrote, “If the State is interested in protecting fetal life after viability [written in the ruling to be as early as 24 weeks], it may go so far as to proscribe abortion during that period, except when it is necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother.”
However, some have stated that the term “the health of the mother” is a broad catchall, and point to the Supreme Court case of Doe v. Bolton, which explained that “medical judgment may be exercised in the light of all factors—physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age—relevant to the well-being of the patient. All these factors may relate to health.”
A number of OB/GYNs and nurses nationwide have also spoken out on such concepts in light of the New York law, stating that an abortion is never necessary for the health or life or the mother as an emergency C-section will be performed instead in an effort to save both mother and child.
“These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world,” Trump commented on Tuesday.
He then told those gathered that “[t]o defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”
The Republican half of the room rose to their feet in cheers, but those on the Democratic side largely remained seated.
“Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life,” Trump said. “And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God.”
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo released an op-ed on Wednesday accusing the president, along with the “religious right,” of purposefully lying about the abortion bill that he signed into law last month.
“As part of their attack on women’s rights, Mr. Trump and his allies are intentionally spreading lies about New York’s Reproductive Health Act,” he wrote. “Their goal is to end all legal abortion in our nation.”
Cuomo noted that the law allows for abortion past 24 weeks “only when a woman’s life or health is threatened or at risk,” and asserted that it is “ridiculous” to believe that the legislation “will allow abortions up to a minute before birth.”
“But these objections aren’t about the rare occasion when a woman has an abortion to protect her health or life. This is about the desire of Mr. Trump and allies on the right to outlaw abortion entirely. It is about bringing America back to the pre-Roe days,” he said.
“Restrictions on abortion later in pregnancy prevent health care providers from giving their patients the best care possible. I trust my patients; I trust women,” tweeted Leana Wen, the president of Planned Parenthood, in response to the president’s words.
Others opined that Trump should have gone further with his goals and condemned all abortion, not just those instances allowed later in the pregnancy due to the mother’s health—which have been refuted as not necessitating an abortion, but rather a C-section.
“Allow us to translate: ‘To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the murder of only some people, based on arbitrary, discriminatory criteria,’” wrote the organization Abolish Abortion North Idaho.
“If the fact that [the baby] can feel pain is the reason used, then why not simply give the babies anesthesia first prior to killing them? The fact that a baby can feel pain is not the reason it should be illegal to murder them by way of premeditated abortion (the planned homicide of unborn babies),” the Facebook page Pro-Life Rocks also remarked.
“The reason it should be illegal to murder unborn babies by way of premeditated abortion (the planned homicide of unborn babies) is because they are uniquely developing human beings from the point of when the woman’s egg is fertilized …”
Some said that while they wished the president sought to completely end the murder of the unborn, they commended Trump for at least speaking out on the subject.

Former ISIS sex slaves, who were given sanctuary in Canada, are again living in fear after being bombarded by voicemails and texts threatening rape and murder.
Five women and one 14-year-old girl have filed reports with York Regional Police. The victims are all Yazidis who survived an ISIS-led genocide in Iraq in 2014.
They have handed over to police recordings of the phone calls and screen grabs of the texts, which reference the Islamic State and include pictures of beheadings and armed Jihadis.
W5 has listened to the phone calls. In one, a man laughs as he says in Arabic: “I am the man who f****d you. I am your rapist.” A second caller denounces Yazidis as devil worshippers. And a third caller makes a graphic reference to rape.
The callers appear to have Iraqi, North African and Gulf state accents. York Regional Police have assembled a team to try to track where the calls are originating….
One of the phone calls came from a 1-800 number and another from an Alberta telephone exchange. Police say with “spoofing” apps, the calls could have been placed from anywhere in the world.
Gathering at a home in Richmond Hill, Ont., the women who survived so much trauma back in their homeland are once again in the grips of terror. Adiba, who was bought and sold six different times by ISIS fighters in 2014, says: “We came here for safety, but after these threats I don’t feel safe. We want to live without threats and fear.” Another, Milkeya, says : “I am scared. My son is four years old, he is scared.” Fearful that ISIS will come back and get them….

TRENTON, New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- Today, attorneys for six advocacy organizations and one individual, Firearms Policy Coalition founder Brandon Combs, filed a new lawsuit and a motion seeking a restraining order and preliminary injunction against New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal. The case was filed just days after Grewal’s Office of the Attorney General sent a threat of prosecution to Cloudflare, a major Internet services company headquartered in San Francisco, about www.CodeIsFreeSpeech.com. According to the complaint, on Saturday, February 3 the CodeIsFreeSpeech.com website’s act of republishing some of Defense Distributed’s digital firearms information “was met with yet another of Grewal’s Orwellian take-down orders,” demanding that Cloudflare “delete all files described within 24 hours or [Grewal’s Office] will be forced to press charges.”
“By issuing a takedown demand against” the entire website, “Grewal sought to compel the complete and total suppression of the political speech at CodeIsFreeSpeech.com, the links to other advocacy websites and their educational and political resources, links to political tee shirts, and even the very text of the United States Constitution itself,” the plaintiffs said in the filing. Attorneys for the plaintiffs also filed a motion seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against Grewal. The Attorney General’s threats of prosecution and other civil enforcement actions under New Jersey laws, the plaintiffs say, violate their constitutional rights.
Last November, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a new speech crime into law, in Senate Bill 2465. Among other things, it created a new “third degree crime” for “a person to distribute by any means, including the Internet, to a person in New Jersey” certain kinds of speech, including “digital instructions in the form of computer-aided design files or other code or instructions stored and displayed in electronic format as a digital model that may be used to program a three-dimensional printer…”
CodeIsFreeSpeech.com “is a publicly available website for the publication and republication of truthful, non-misleading, non-commercial political speech and information that is protected under the United States Constitution,” the complaint says. “Its purpose is to allow people to share knowledge and empower them to exercise their fundamental, individual rights. It was created and developed during the week of July 22, 2018—long before the State enacted Senate Bill 2465.”
The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Chad Flores, Daniel Hammond, and Hannah Roblyer of Texas-based Beck Redden LLP and Daniel L. Schmutter of New Jersey law firm Hartman & Winnicki.

Cody Wilson, the founder of Defense Distributed (which provides firearm-related software for 3D printers), was delighted when the Department of Justice relented last July in its attempt to shut him and his company down. Without fanfare, the DOJ not only settled with Cody and his company, it agreed to pay a large part of his legal fees as well.
Cody celebrated and then put his people back to work on developing more software for firearms enthusiasts, saying: “I have developers for anything and everything, some of the best talent in the world.… It’s all ready to go. I have interested stakeholders [and] a large network [of supporters who] care about what I do.”
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal did not share in Cody’s victory. Instead, he launched an attack on Wilson, his company, and the website that hosted his software. He frequently threatened Wilson publicly, declaring he would “come and get” him, and would “stop him” from exercising his newly resurrected First Amendment rights to freedom of speech over the Internet.
Grewal upped the ante on February 2 by sending this letter to Wilson’s company’s web host Cloudfare:
This is a notice to Cloudflare that you are serving files consisting of 3D printable firearms in violation of NJ Stat. Ann. § 2C:39-9 3(l)(2). These files are accessible via Cloudflare’s New Jersey data center. You shall delete all files described within 24 hours or we will be forced to press charges in order to preserve the safety of the citizens of New Jersey.
Three days later Wilson’s company joined with the Second Amendment Foundation, the Calguns Foundation, and several other pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment, pro-Constitution groups in suing Grewal for violating his First Amendment rights. Wilson thought the matter was settled back in July, but Grewal disagreed.
The nut of Wilson’s complaint against Grewal appears on page 38 of his 62-page lawsuit, which states:
Grewal’s conduct subjects the Plaintiffs to an unconstitutional abridgement of First Amendment freedoms; an unconstitutional infringement of Second Amendment rights; an unconstitutional violation of the right to equal protection of the laws; an unconstitutional deprivation of liberty and property without due process of law; an unconstitutional violation of the Commerce Clause; and regulation by way of state laws that are preempted by federal law.
Wilson himself boiled the issue down to this: “This is a state politician telling a host in California and a national CDN (content delivery network) service that they are guilty of a speech crime in New Jersey based on the public content they’re merely republished on the … internet.”
Grewal defended his grievous overreach by declaring that, under New Jersey’s law passed in November that targeted Wilson and his company, it is now a crime for “a person to distribute by any means, including the internet … digital instructions in the form of computer-aided design files or other code of instructions … that may be used to program a three-dimensional printer to manufacture or produce a firearm, firearm receiver, magazine, or firearm component.”
This, in effect, is a nationwide limit on the First Amendment as a means to infringe on Second Amendment rights. As Declan McCullough explained at Reason:
As a practical matter, because the New Jersey law prohibits the distribution of firearm-manufacturing information to any “person in New Jersey,” it’s effectively a national ban. It imposes New Jersey’s idiosyncratic views on firearm manufacturing instructions (and the First and Second Amendments) on the entire nation.
Gunsmiths in Idaho and Montana are unlikely to be delighted at having Grewal dictate what they’re allowed to do online.
In addition, plans can be used for purposes other than manufacturing, including simulation or modeling, making the law even broader than it might seem at first glance.
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) explained why they were assisting Wilson in his suit against Grewal:
The lawsuit contends that after New Jersey lawmakers passed the new statute last November, Attorney General Grewal censored the plaintiffs’ free speech rights by threatening to jail them or anyone else that violates a section of the law that criminalizes distribution of digital instructions that may be used to produce a firearm with a three-dimensional printer.
SAF’s Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb said, “This isn’t about firearms — it’s about freedom of speech. If Attorney General Grewal can suppress the sharing of technical information about the production of firearms components using modern technology, what else might he, or another attorney general choose to suppress at some future date if he or she doesn’t like it?”
It’s also about the Second Amendment. Grewal seeks to infringe on rights guaranteed by it to citizens by limiting their ability to exercise them through his grievous assault on the First.

German society is destabilizing as migrants and jihadists pour in through open borders, warns police officer and politician Martin Hess. Hess, who serves in the Bundestag as a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, eviscerated his colleagues from establishment parties during a recent speech on the floor of parliament, accusing them of abdicated their duties to protect citizens and secure the nation’s borders.
“The threat of terrorism is higher than ever before, and therefore we must act now to implement measures to protect our citizens,” Hess said. “Enough talk. Now is the time for action, and this requires that the main problem be solved, which is responsible for the disasters in the area of internal security: our open borders.”
“The truth has been and remains: Germany is uncertain as never before. Never before in our country have we needed to protect our Christmas markets with concrete bollards from Islamist attacks. Never before in the history of our country did we need ‘women’s protection zones’ to be set up at public events to protect our women.”
Hess pointed out that there were 776 Islamic terror suspects in Germany as of July, 2018, compared with 165 in 2014. He also noted that “almost all” terror suspects entered Germany as “refugees.”
Estimates indicate over 1.6 million mostly-Muslim migrants have poured into the country since 2014.
“You irresponsibly neglect the security and protection of our citizens,” Hess said. 
“As long as this cardinal error of ‘open borders’ is not corrected in German security policy, all attempts to improve the security agencies will have no impact.”
Hess called out the hypocrisy of government officials who spare no expense or resource in protecting themselves, while failing to do the same for their constituents, pointing to a massive security and border control campaign for the 2017 G20 summit in Hamburg during which police arrested some 744 known criminals.
“People without a legitimate reason for entry [into Germany] should be consistently rejected, and all persons who are staying illegally in our country should be permanently removed,” Hess said.
He blasted prominent politicians who gaslight citizens by telling them terrorism is “just a risk of 21st century life” or that “we will have to learn to live with terror – because the opposite is true.”
“In the name of our citizens, our children and grandchildren, we cannot and will not live with this terror,” Hess vowed. “We want a safe Germany without concrete bollards and without women’s protection zones . . . We need politicians who are determined to fight Islamist terrorism effectively and make this fight a top priority, right now.”

The Muslim Community Patrol will doubtless be on the lookout for incidents of “Islamophobia,” that is, anti-Muslim “hate crimes,” which is entirely unnecessary, since the NYPD exists, and such incidents are actually quite rare according to FBI hate crime statistics — much less common than incidents of anti-Semitism.



Will the Muslim Community Patrols also be on the lookout for Muslims who are violating Sharia provisions, such as the prohibition on drinking alcohol? It isn’t inconceivable, although the very question will be denounced as “Islamophobic.” But we have seen Sharia patrols in Austria, Denmark, Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. So why is it inconceivable that they could arise in New York City? It isn’t.



Then what will happen if the MCP apprehends someone for violating Sharia in a way that does not contravene American law?



Also, last month NYPD Sergeant Jessica McRorie stated: “This is not an NYPD vehicle. The NYPD did not outfit or label this vehicle. This group is not officially sanctioned by the NYPD and they are subject to the law.”



If the Muslim Community Patrol is not officially sanctioned by the NYPD, isn’t it subject to laws regarding impersonating a police officer? But would anyone dare risk charges of “Islamophobia” in Bill de Blasio’s New York by pursuing such an inquiry? Not on your life.

…Mr. Ali is among the first 30 members of the all-volunteer Muslim Community Patrol & Services that is preparing to operate in neighborhoods in Brooklyn, with a goal of growing its fleet of two cars to five by the end of the month and eventually expanding citywide. The group recently held a training led by off-duty officers from the Police Department’s 72nd Precinct.



“It’s like a neighborhood watch but on steroids,” said Noor Rabah, the group’s 31-year-old vice president who lives in Sunset Park.



As word of the new patrol has begun to spread, the backlash has been swift, even among some members of the Muslim community who have criticized the lack of information, and even questioned the need for the patrol.



Like the Shomrim that patrols largely Hasidic neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Asian Safety Patrol that operates mainly in Sunset Park, the new group — believed to be the first of its kind in the country — hopes to function as extra sets of eyes and ears for the police.



The unarmed civilian patrol will offer translation services — its members are fluent in any of seven languages — explain cultural nuances, report suspicious activity, respond to traffic accidents and even help in searches for the missing. The patrol has the support of Brooklyn’s borough president, Eric L. Adams, and Assistant Chief Brian J. Conroy, the commanding officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South.



“More than buildings went down in 9/11. Trust between communities went down,” Mr. Adams said. “We are building it back one brick at a time, and this patrol is one of those bricks.”



Leaders said the group is self-funded and used donations to purchase the cars and navy blue uniforms for its members, many of whom are involved with the Muslim Community Center in Sunset Park.



Volunteers plan to work in shifts, watching over arrival and dismissal times at three Islamic schools in Brooklyn and conducting patrols from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., mostly near mosques and bus and subway stops in Bay Ridge and Sunset Park, where there are large Muslim populations. It will also link residents to food pantries, mentorship programs and counseling services. It aims to serve anyone who needs help, Mr. Rabah said, not just Muslims.



“Presence is prevention,” Mr. Rabah said. “Just us being around should deter the average criminal mind of doing something to harm another person.”…

CNN is trying to destroy Trump’s pick for UN ambassador, Heather Nauert, by noting that in 2009, she featured Frank Gaffney, Tarek Fatah and me on Fox News. But I was on CNN six years after that, in 2015. So once again the fake news propagandists at CNN trip on their own feet. But it is a sad indication of how much the public discourse in America has degenerated that CNN propagandist Andrew Kaczynski would even consider the possibility that it would hurt Nauert to try to associate her with foes of jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression of women, gays, and others. The fact that opposing jihad terror carries a stigma in the public square today is an illustration of the insidious power of propaganda, and an indication that some extremely insidious forces are operating at CNN and other establishment media outlets.
This problem is compounded by cowardice on the other side. “State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino told CNN in a statement that interviewing guests ‘does not mean the moderator agrees with the views expressed’ and added that CNN itself has interviewed those same people.”
What Palladino should have said is that the interviewees were opponents of jihad terror and Sharia oppression, and defenders of human rights for all people, and anyone who thought that was wrong was suffering from extreme moral confusion.

CNN launched an attack on President Donald Trump’s pick for United Nations ambassador, Heather Nauert, that inadvertently turned the microscope on itself.
Nauert, a former Fox News host, was nominated for the UN post vacated by Nikki Haley in December. Since then, news outlets have raised questions about her qualifications for office and her time working for Fox. In a story published Monday, CNN claimed that Nauert’s confirmation process could be complicated because she hosted a “panel on Sharia law conspiracies” on the network in 2009.
The panel was on a webcast called “Terror from Within” and featured anti-jihad activists Frank Gaffney and Robert Spencer, and Canadian journalist and Muslim critic Tarek Fatah.
State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino told CNN in a statement that interviewing guests “does not mean the moderator agrees with the views expressed” and added that CNN itself has interviewed those same people.
A review of interviews on CNN reveals that they have, in fact, interviewed Gaffney, Spencer and Fateh on multiple occasions. CNN’s most recent interview with Spencer occurred in 2015 — six years after Nauert interviewed him for the webcast.
During a June 2015 interview, Spencer clashed with the CNN hosts after he accused the media of kowtowing to radical violent Islamists and argued that Muslims in Boston weren’t doing a good enough job of countering extremists in their faith.
Gaffney appeared on CNN for an interview as recently as 2013 about U.S. relations with the Iranian regime. He was also interviewed on Syria in 2012 and debated American Conservative Union board member Suhail Khan in 2011….
CNN gave Nauert credit for “ask[ing] clarifying questions and push[ing] her guests to specify that not all Muslims support extremism or Sharia law,” a similar rhetorical move used by CNN anchors in their interviews with Spencer. However, CNN claimed that Nauert was not tough enough on her guests, stating that she did not attack the “broader theme” of their comments….

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed his state’s revenue shortfall of $2.8 billion on Donald Trump during a press conference on Monday, stating,
There is no doubt that the budget we put forward [$175 billion for fiscal year 2019-20] is not supported by the revenues. It’s as serious as a heart attack….
SALT [which capped deductions for state income and local property taxes for the wealthy in Trump’s tax reform act] was an economic civil war. It literally restructured the economy to help red [Republican] states at the cost of blue [Democrat] states.
That’s exactly what it did. It was a diabolical, political maneuver.
Cuomo could have accepted the blame for the state’s ongoing exodus (out-migration) of wealthy individuals by pinning the blame where it belonged: on his state’s increasingly unfavorable environment for them thanks to its high taxes. Instead, he said he did the right thing by extending the temporary “millionaires’ tax” levied following the financial crisis a decade ago, and signing into law a bill raising sales tax rates to 8.82 percent.
In other words, Cuomo attacked the very people he needed the most to pay for his spending bill: the top one percent of New York’s taxpayers that account for almost half of the state’s tax revenues.
Cuomo complained that since the exodus doesn’t “support” his budget, he is going to have to cut it somewhere, and has until February 15 to come up with a new plan.
Outmigration of the wealthy from the Empire State has been going on for years, and the SALT limitation was, for many, just the final straw. It has spawned a new industry: advisors helping the wealthy escape to warmer and friendlier tax climes, such as Miami, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.
In December, Edmund McMahon, research director of the Empire State Center for Public Policy, put the numbers on that outmigration: “During the 12 months ending July 2018, 180,306 more residents moved out of New York State than moved in from the rest of the country.… New York was one of only nine states to experience a population decline during this period.” He estimates the emigration from New York since 2010 has been 1.2 million people.
And a lot of them are headed for Florida. According to Census data released in December, Florida had the highest level of net domestic migration from July 2017 to July 2018, while New York during that same period was the largest overall population loser.
It’s not hard to discern why: According to the Tax Foundation, Florida is ranked fourth on its list of the 10 best states from a tax perspective, while New York is ranked 48th. This ranking comes from analyzing corporate taxes, individual income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, and unemployment insurance taxes. Florida ranks near the top in nearly all categories, while New York ranks near the bottom.
Even Cuomo admitted that it is tough to compete with Florida’s climate, both weather and fiscal: “A taxpayer in Florida would see no increase [in taxes], probably would see a decrease, and Florida also has the advantage of no estate tax.”
New York is just one of several northeastern states whose populations are shrinking as residents head for warmer and friendlier environs. Tax Foundation lists New Jersey dead last on its list, and explains why: 
The states in the bottom 10 tend to have a number of afflictions in common: complex, nonneutral taxes with comparatively high rates.
New Jersey, for example, is hampered by some of the highest property tax burdens in the country, recently implemented the second highest-rate corporate income tax in the country, levies an inheritance tax, and maintains some of the nation’s worst-structured individual income taxes.
As mentioned above, this out-migration from high-tax states has been going on for years, long before Trump’s tax reform. But with the SALT deductions capped, it is likely to continue and even accelerate. Since 2007, Texas and Florida (neither of which have a state income tax) have gained 1.4 million and 850,000 residents, respectively, from other states. California and New York have jointly lost more than 2.2 million residents. Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore estimated that about 3.5 million Americans, on net, have relocated from the highest-tax states to the lowest-tax states, with another 800,000 or more likely to move in the next three years.
The real reason the wealthy are increasingly moving to places such as Miami, Phoenix, and Las Vegas is because they can. They are, by and large, highly flexible and mobile, and many are driven by Rule Number One for getting and staying rich: Cut your expenses. The fact that the weather might be nicer there is just a bonus (and tax-free at that).
Cuomo has no one to blame but himself and his fellow Democrats. Typical of a politician, that’s why he tried to put the blame on Trump for his state’s revenue shortfalls.
