MIKE HUCKABEE & COMMON CORE: ECUMENICAL SOUTHERN BAPTIST IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY & NAIVETE DOESN’T MAKE FOR PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL

Beware of Mike Huckabee |
“Beware of Mike Huckabee. He is basely using our Lord Jesus Christ for political gain even as he promotes Antichrist and his church. Mike Huckabee is a wolfish product of the neo-evangelical movement which, quite frankly, is the major problem in this nation, not the solution. Beyond that, Huckabee’s political philosophy is grossly at odds with the principles upon which our Republican form of government rests. Politically speaking, Mr. Huckabee has far more in common with Bill Clinton than with America’s founding fathers. We would be far, far better off with a simple “God and country” constitutionalist for president who doesn’t claim to be a born-again believer. After carefully watching and listening to Mike Huckabee with an open mind, about the only good thing I can say concerning his candidacy for president is at least it keeps him too busy to pastor a church.”Pastor Ralph Ovadal Pilgrims Covenant Church _______________________________________________________________________ SEE ALSO: RALPH OVADAL’S “MORE THAN THESE~A CALL FOR REFORMATION~A HISTORY OF HOW THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT HAS ADVANCED THE CAUSE OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH” AT http://www.pccmonroe.org/Ecumenism/morethanthese.htm, AND AT: http://www.pccmonroe.org/ecumenism/morethanthese.pdf EXCERPT: “An ecumenical epidemic has broken out in America. These days, many evangelical Christians accept Roman Catholics as “brothers and sisters in Christ” and the Roman Catholic Church as a Christian church, albeit with some unbiblical “doctrinal distinctives.” Pastor Ralph Ovadal believes that the pro-life movement has been one of the key factors, if not the key factor, in desensitizing Christians to the danger and sin of accepting the Roman Catholic Church as Christian. In More Than These, Pastor Ovadal begins with the Second Vatican Council of 1962-1965 and documents how the Roman Catholic Church has systematically used the pro-life movement, with the help of Christians, to advance its ecumenical strategy.” _______________________________________________________________________ Ovadal also includes an interview done with Catholic Online at: http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=26312, wherein Huckabee admits he has no problem associating with, agreeing with, and working with Catholics, meanwhile attributing the Catholic Church as having a leadership role in social causes such as abortion. This is no great surprise, since being an ordained Southern Baptist minister, he would have no problem “slowly becoming Catholic” (SBC) in line with his denomination’s direction. ______________________________________________________________ Here is Huckabee’s Letter to the Oklahoma Legislators, June 3, 2013, which is clear evidence that he was, and still is, in favor of federal intrusion into education despite three laws prohibiting same. He believed, and still believes that federal standards and curriculum can be separate, with states, local school boards, teachers, and parents deciding on curriculum. Such is not the reality, since 45 states took money from the federal government on the condition that all curriculum would be aligned to the Common Core standards. Could he be that misinformed? Dear Oklahoma Lawmakers: As a conservative who served as governor for a state that shares the values of the very Oklahomans you represent, I’m writing to encourage you to resist any attempt to delay implementation of the improved standards adopted by your State Board of Education in 2010. Many of you voted in favor of these standards in 2010. You were right to stand for these improved standards then and you are right to stand for these improved standards still today. These standards, known as Common Core State Standards, have been near and dear to my heart since I served as Governor of your neighboring state of Arkansas. And it’s disturbing to me there have been criticisms of these standards directed by other conservatives including the RNC. The truth of the matter is, these criticisms are short-sighted. Like many of you, I’ve heard the argument these standards “threaten local control” of what’s being taught in Oklahoma classrooms. Speaking from one conservative to another, let me assure you this simply is not true. States and local school districts will determine how they want to teach kids, what curriculum to use, and which textbooks to use. These Common Core State Standards evolved as governors and state leaders were talking about what we could do together to raise standards–not a Washington solution, but a voluntary effort on the part of the leaders of the states. In fact conversations about these standards began long before President Obama occupied the White House. I hope you’ll join me and other conservatives, including many Oklahoma parents, educators and business leaders, in making it known these standards are valuable for our future. They’re not something to be afraid of; indeed they are something to embrace.

MEANT TO MUDDY THE WATERS
AND FOOL MANY:
“identifying common standards is not enough. We’ll know we’ve succeeded when the curriculum and the tests are aligned to these standards… to create just these kinds of tests—next-generation assessments aligned to the common core. When the tests are aligned to the common standards, the curriculum will line up as well—and that will unleash powerful market forces in the service of better teaching.”
EXCERPTS:
“In distancing himself from Common Core, however, Huckabee accused others of “hijacking” the standards for the purpose of personal data collection and indoctrination.”
“The notion that the Common Core standards were “hijacked” by “others” is interesting in light of Breitbart News’ report last week that the origins of Common Core can be found in the ties among Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, who were on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), founded by radical communist Ayers and for which Obama served as chairman, and current U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who was CEO of the Chicago Public Schools. The purpose of the CAC was indoctrination and income redistribution.”

EXCERPTS:
“The first red flag was that he doesn’t support “what Common Core has become” meaning he supported it in its original form. This is an inadequate response because it doesn’t recognize problems inherent with the standards themselves regardless of what curriculum publishers and the Federal government has done.”
“I do appreciate the strong statement on data collection, but it is pretty easy to find consensus around that point. Even so this statement ignores the fact that those involved working on the Common Core State Standards and its assessments planned it as a tool to collect student data. This was during the development of the Common Core, not something that happened after the fact. When the chief architect of the Common Core’s ELA standards lauded the use of student data it’s hard to say this wasn’t part of the Common Core. Maybe that wasn’t what individual Governor’s had in mind, but it wasn’t Governors who wrote the standards to begin with.”
“From his book, Simple Government, Huckabee wrote, “although I believe education should be left to the states, I fully endorse the new federal program Race to the Top, which has states compete for additional education funds.”
“So Race to the Top was designed as carrot and stick program, which Governor Huckabee thought was a good thing, “a clever way to prod states to embrace much needed reform,” to use his words. So this program gave directives to states who were strapped for cash to adopt the Common Core Standards (I thought he was against federal standards?)”
He bemoans federal involvement in the Common Core, but he lauded the very program that gave them a foothold.”
