Redefining The Faith?

Vanderbilt Divinity School

Appoints Lesbian Dean

In yet another sign of the shift within the Christian Church away from Biblical Christianity, Vanderbilt University Divinity School has appointed a married, lesbian Christian as its new dean. Dr. Emilie M. Townes, a former associate dean at Yale University Divinity School, and ordained Baptist clergywoman, is a vocal proponent of the idea that homosexuality should no longer be considered a sin in the Christian faith. The appointment of a dean who professes her Christianity but openly defies God’s Word is a clear indicator of the apostasy – the prophesied falling away in the church from Biblical Christianity, to a modernized, “me-focused” doctrine, that has its own rules and seeks to cater to the worldly lusts.
According to reports:
“I am excited about becoming part of this slice of God’s cloud of witnesses as we shape ourselves into being responsive to holding traditions and the future together,” Townes said during her convocation address, as reported by Christian News.

“Not out of a sense that traditions are static but with an appreciation for the fact that they are dynamic and actually morph and change, though slowly at times. And also not out of a sense that the future is some magic potion that allows us to neglect the work we must do today.”
Townes’ partner, Laurel Schneider, also joined the Vanderbilt Divinity School’s faculty this year. Although Townes’ appointment was announced last December, it has recently stirred up debate within the Christian press. (source).
In an op-ed piece in the Huffington Post, Townes explained her spiritual belief and support for her gay marriage:
We are both clear that we do not to conform to the standard text of marriage, but we want to find ways to breath new air and life into what it means to be married not only by the state, but even more so in the eyes of the Holy Spirit; to be committed for a life time; and to grow old and be those kind of old ladies that we so admired when we were children — truth tellers, wise, independent, but fiercely engaged in the communities they were a part of.
Folks approach gay marriage from a variety of perspectives — moral, theological, social, political. As a Christian social ethicist with womanist leanings, I am clear that the Bible says precious little about same sex relationships, though it appears to have a bit more to say about acts but even that is muddled. The Bible And Homosexuality

Dr. Emilie Townes, left, at her official convocation as Dean of Vanderbilt University Divinity School.
Jesus Christ defined marriage in the Bible as between a man and a woman:
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. – Matthew 19:4-6.
Rather than saying “precious little” about marriage, as Townes put it, the Bible is abundantly clear that God has ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman for life. Additionally, the Bible goes into specific detail about homosexuality being a sin:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. – Romans 1:21-27.
Sexual sin is a by-product of society’s rebellion against God. As humanity continues to deny God and reject His free offer of salvation, God gives people up to our own sinful lusts and a result all sorts of illicit sexual sins, both heterosexual and homosexual, increase. And Scripture is clear that a woman in an intimate relationship with another woman is “against nature” and refers to homosexuality as a vile affection. So there is nothing “muddled” in this passage, as Townes refers to it.
The Movement To Change The Bible
End Times Bible prophecy falling away | apostasy and heresy of gay movement in the church

The Divinity School’s agenda is to reinterpret Scripture surrounding homosexuality.
Towne’s viewpoint is becoming more and more common in Christian churches across the United States and the world. More and more pastors and leaders are trying to change the Bible and change the Christian faith to suit the current desires of the unsaved world. In the Divinity School’s “Purposes And Commitments” page, its stated objective is to: “to help persons, both lay and ordained, reenvision and prepare for the practice of Christian ministry in our time..”
This is grave spiritual error. The book of Jude admonishes Bible-believing Christians to hold on to God’s Word and not seek to change or “breathe new life” into it:
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. – Jude 1:3-4.
The Bible is God’s Word, not humanity’s. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.”  The word “inspiration”, theopneustos in Greek, literally means “God breathed.” It is God that breathes His Spirit into the Bible, not any person. The Lord Jesus Christ made it clear that changing the words of the Bible was a sin that would not be taken lightly. This is made clear in the stark warning given at the end of the Book of Revelation:
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. – Revelation 22:18-19.
Yet despite the clear admonishment of Scripture, many in the church today, like the faculty at the Vanderbilt Divinity School are attempting to “reimagine” and “reinterpret” the Bible to change God’s Word in favor of what society wants today. Further in its Purposes and Commitments page, the Divinity School writes:
“This commitment involves the exploration in the curriculum of lesbian and gay concerns as well as affirmation and support of gay and lesbian people within our community.
The school is committed to a program of theological education that is open to and takes account of the religious pluralism in our world. It seeks to familiarize students with interreligious dialogue and the diverse manifestations of Christianity throughout the world, recognizing that to know one’s own tradition one must know and participate in others as well. This commitment entails the appointment to the faculty of scholars in other religious traditions and from diverse branches of Christianity, as well as the provision of resources for students to study in global contexts.” [Emphasis added].
In addition to affirming the the gay lifestyle as being accepted from a Biblical perspective, the school also encourages its Christian students to actually practice other religions. This is heresy and flagrant sin. Throughout the entire Bible, it is clear that Christians are to worship no other God but the God of the Bible. Nowhere are believers instructed that in order to truly understand Christianity one should practice another religion as well. But this is the goal of the apostasy in the church today – to move Christians away from making the Bible their sole authority and guide for their faith. Satan seduced Eve into sin in the Garden of Eden by getting her to doubt God’s clear Word. And the same tactic is being used today to lure well-meaning Christians from a firm belief in the Bible to a New Age view of the Scripture that says it is a “nice tradition” but leaves the door open for all sorts of new doctrines and person-made ideas. The Bible refutes this notion in Galatians chapter 1:
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:8-10.
The Vanderbilt Divinity School is preaching a different Gospel in an effort to please the world. And students are being indoctrinated into their way of thinking as the Bible fades to the background.  Do not be deceived.

Homosexual movement in the church | End times Bible prophecy falling away

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8. Jesus loves all people, including those who seek to “affirm” homosexuality in the Church.
As explained in our article, “Christian Singer Jennifer Knapp Comes Out: Is It Okay To Be Christian And Gay?”, the challenge for a Christian with homosexual desires or who is in a homosexual relationship is not to conform their faith to their desires. It is to conform themselves to the image of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.Galatians 2:20 says “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”Jesus Christ took on human flesh, was tempted in all ways and did not sin. And then despite being God in the flesh, willingly gave His life on the cross to take the punishment for all of the sins of all people of the world. By Christ becoming a perfect sacrifice and rising from the grave on the third day after His death, all people, gay or straight, can be forgiven of their sins and receive eternal life in Heaven.  Trying to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ but purposely contradict or “re-imagine” the Bible is believing in an idol – a god that you have fashioned for yourself from your imagination. This is sin.  Rather than walk in spiritual rebellion. Christians are called to “crucify” their sinful past life of the flesh and live for the Spirit of God in them.
Pray for Dr. Townes and all the Christians who feel they can change the Christian faith to suit their own personal desires. Jesus Christ said: “..If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25). This is the Christian life: a denial of our old self and the sinful desires we have, whether they be sexual or otherwise. And “picking up our cross” by living the way God wants us to live as stated in His bible. All Christians will struggle with sinful desires as long as they are living in their sinful flesh. But God calls us to repent of our sins and build our faith up to resist them and live in conformity with His Holy Word. Lord willing, one day Dr. Townes will learn this and share it with the many students who will come to her school to learn about the Christian faith.

JEFF BETHKE~HIS ANTI-CHRISTIAN VIDEO & NEW BOOK

Lighthouse Trails Research has a recent article about Bethke and his new book. Article reprinted in full below unedited:

It’s Not Surprising That the Southern Baptists
Would Be Enthralled:

Jefferson Bethke – Liberty University Convocation:

“Beware of False Prophet Jefferson Bethke”:

Jeff Bethke, the 24-year-old man who did the anti-religion YouTube video in 2012, is back in the news again. This time, he has a book about his subject matter. His video, Why I Hate Religion

went viral and to date over 26 million people have viewed it. That video is partially responsible for our writing the Booklet Tract They Hate Christianity But Love (Another) Jesus – How Conservative Christians Are Being Manipulated and Ridiculed, Especially During Election Years (yes, Bethke’s video came out not too long before the nation voted for Obama). You can read our full booklet tract by clicking here, and we hope you do. It may give you a different perspective than what seems to meet the eye. Kind of like when George Barna and Frank Viola came out with their book Pagan Christianity, and untold numbers thought their book was fantastic, when in reality, it was more of a smoke screen to what was REALLY happening in Christianity today (see our article, “Pagan Christianity by Viola and Barna – A Perfect Example of ‘Missing the Point.’”They said a big pagan problem with Christians was that they sat in pews, went to Sunday School, and listened to sermons. But sadly, there was no mention of the REAL problems happening in the church today (contemplative spirituality, for example).
Here is a portion of our They Hate Christianity But Love (Another) Jesus that gives some background information on Jeff Bethke:

In January of 2012, another election year, a young man, Jefferson (Jeff) Bethke, who attends contemplative advocate Mark Driscoll’s church, Mars Hill in Washington state, posted a video on YouTube called “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus.” Within hours, the video had over 100,000 hits. Soon it reached over 14 million hits, according to the Washington Post, one of the major media that has spotlighted the Bethke video (hits as of May 2013 are over 25 million).
The Bethke video is a poem Bethke wrote and recites in a rap-like fashion his thoughts and beliefs about the pitfalls of what he calls “religion” but what is indicated to be Christianity. While we are not saying at this time that Bethke is an emerging figure, and while some of the lyrics in his poem are true statements, it is interesting that emerging spirituality figures seem to be resonating with Bethke’s message. They are looking for anything that will give them ammunition against traditional biblical Christianity. They have found some in Bethke’s poem. Like so many in the emerging camp say, Bethke’s poem suggests that Christians don’t take care of the poor and needy. While believers in Christ have been caring for the needy for centuries, emerging figures use this ploy to win conservative Christians (through guilt) over to a liberal social justice “gospel.” Emerging church journalist Jim Wallis (founder of Sojourners) is one who picked up on Bethke’s video. In an article on Wallis’ blog, it states:
“Bethke’s work challenges his listeners to second guess their preconceived notions about what it means to be a Christian. He challenges us to turn away from the superficial trappings of “religion,” and instead lead a missional life in Christ.”Christian Post

Back when we wrote that article, we went pretty easy on Bethke, almost giving him the benefit of the doubt. But Bethke’s new book, Jesus > Religion: Why He Is So Much Better Than Trying Harder, Doing More, and Being Good Enough(Thomas Nelson, 2013) presents Bethke’s views more clearly. For one, he has a  recommended reading list at the back of the book that contains a number of contemplative and emerging advocates such as Mark Driscoll, Brennan Manning, John Piper, Timothy Keller, Brother Lawrence, and John Ortberg. Also on the list are emerging “progressives” like Andy Stanley and N.T. Wright (a figure touted by the emerging church extensively). On a website, Bethke is quoted as saying that Wright is one of his ”heroes.”
Interestingly, one of the books Bethke recommends is Beth Moore’s When Godly People Do Ungodly Things. That book is Moore’s declarative statement promoting Brennan Manning, saying that his contribution to “our generation of believers may be a gift without parallel” (p. 72) and that  his book Ragamuffin Gospel is “one of the most remarkable books” (p. 290) she has ever read (Bethke obviously thinks so too – Ragamuffin Gospel is one of his recommended books too). But in the back of Ragamuffin Gospel, Manning makes reference to panentheist mystic and Catholic priest Basil Pennington saying that Pennington’s methods will provide us with “a way of praying that leads to a deep living relationship with God.” However, Pennington’s methods of prayer draw from Eastern religions as you can see by this statement by Pennington:

We should not hesitate to take the fruit of the age-old wisdom of the East and “capture” it for Christ. Indeed, those of us who are in ministry should make the necessary effort to acquaint ourselves with as many of these Eastern techniques as possible. Many Christians who take their prayer life seriously have been greatly helped by Yoga, Zen, TM and similar practices. (from A Time of Departing, 2nd ed., p.64)
Manning also cites Carl Jung in Ragamuffin Gospel as well as interspiritualists and contemplatives Anthony De Mello,Marcus Borg (who denies the virgin birth and deity of Christ), Morton Kelsey, Gerald May, Henri Nouwen, Alan Jones(who calls the atonement vile), Eugene Peterson, and Sue Monk Kidd (who says God is in everything, even human waste and believes in the goddess who offers us the “holiness of everything”). All of these names are in Ragamuffin Gospel.
Given the strong endorsements by Beth Moore and Jeff Bethke, we are led to assume that they have both read (and resonate with) Ragamuffin Gospel. And we know from years of research that Manning was trying to set up the church to become what Karl Rahner “prophesied”: “The Christian of the future will be a mystic or he or she will not exist at all.”
Nova MagazineBede Griffith

We were surprised to see the name Bede Griffith in Bethke’s new book in the endnote section (p. 208). He didn’t necessarily reference him favorably (or unfavorably, for that matter) but the fact that someone like Griffith would be benignly mentioned in a “Jesus” loving book is hard to ignore. The Catholic monk and mystic Bede Griffith, like Thomas Merton, “explored ways in which Eastern religions could deepen his prayer.” (Credence Cassettes, Winter/Lent 1985 Catalog, p. 14, cited in ATOD) Griffith also saw the “growing importance of Eastern religions . . . bringing the church to a new vitality.”(Ibid.) Griffith’s autobiography, The Golden String, expresses his belief that God (the golden string) flows through all things.
In reading Bethke’s book, one can see that Mark Driscoll may have rubbed off on him. And one of Bethke’s recommended books is Driscoll’s Vintage Jesus. We wrote a little about that book a number of years ago; we even contacted the late Chuck Smith (founder of Calvary Chapel) and warned him about Driscoll’s book because some Calvary Chapel pastors were trying to bring it in to CC; in Vintage Jesus, Driscoll calls homeschooling “dumb,” mocks the rapture and Armageddon, and says Christians are “little Christs.” Bethke echoes Driscoll’s distain, like in his chapter titled ”Religion Points to a Dim Future/Jesus Points to a Bright Future.”  He puts down the kind of believers who see a dismal future for earth (according to Scripture) and says things like:

“God actually cares about the earth, but we seem to think it’s going to burn. God actually cares about creating good art, but we seem to think it’s reserved for salvation messages.” (Kindle Locations 2107-2109, Thomas Nelson).

And just to prove that when Bethke says “religion,” he means biblical Christianity, what other religion is there that “points to a dim future” for planet earth and its inhabitants? Biblical Christianity is the only one that says that the world is heading for judgment because of man’s rebellion against God and because of God’s plan to destroy the devil and his minions. Jesus does point to a “bright future,” but the Bible is very clear that this will not come before He returns; rather He promises a blessed eternal life to “whosoever” believeth on Him. The Jesus Christ of the Bible did not promise a bright future for those who reject Him (and even says that the road to destruction is broad – Matthew 7:13); in fact, Scripture says Jesus Himself was a man of sorrows rejected and despised (Isaiah 53:3). He knew what awaited Him, and He knew what was in the heart of man. But across the board, emergents reject such a message of doom, and teach that the kingdom of God will be established as humanity realizes its oneness and its divinity. And they will accomplish this through meditation. In Brennan Manning’s book The Signature of Jesus, he said that “the first step in faith is to stop thinking about God at the time of prayer” (p. 212).  Then the next step, he says, is to choose a sacred word and ”repeat the sacred word [or phrase] inwardly, slowly, and often” (p. 218).
Bethke’s book goes after the usual suspects. For instance, he belittles street preachers sharing the Gospel in  his chapter called “Fundies, Fakes, and Other So-Called Christians.” He says:

Whenever I walk by the street preachers, I laugh under my breath, picturing just how uncomfortable they are going to be in heaven when everyone else is partying it up. (p. 43)

Many of those street preachers are the ones responsible for untold numbers ending up in heaven and “partying it up.” It is faithful preachers and evangelists of the Gospel who have tirelessly cried out repent and be saved that will be the reason why some make it to heaven. But it is very typical for emergents to mock and condemn such evangelistic efforts. And if they are reading Ragamuffin Gospel, it’s no wonder they have  a strong aversion to evangelism and a call to repentance. For example, in Ragamuffin Gospel, Manning says that God understands a woman having to become a prostitute in order to support her two-year-old son, and He will not condemn her. So, in other words, it really doesn’t matter what we do, as long as we have a good reason for doing it. A relaxed view of sin and a harsh view of evangelism go hand in hand in the emerging church.
And like just about every other emergent-type book, Bethke’s gives a good scolding to Christians who reject our present society’s embracing of homosexuality. He says he believes homosexuality is not God’s perfect plan for man, but can’t we all just have meaningful conversations and get along with each other and stop talking about homosexuality? (pp. 63-69) He actually compares the apostle Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” to being “gay” (p. 69)!
Bethke’s book reminds us somewhat of Mike Erre’s book Death by Church or Dan Kimball’s book, They Like Jesus But Not the Church in the scorning way it portrays conservative Bible-believing Christians and in the way it twists and manipulates Scriptures and biblical ideas, equating them with sinister and evil actions. Like this quote from Bethke:

When people come to us in the midst of their pain, how dare we flippantly quote some Bible verses as if that alone would help? How dare we think we can just send them some balloons? How dare we overspiritualize or be like the mom who told her daughter the rape was her fault? (p. 125)

What he just did there was equate sharing Bible verses with a hurting person to a mom telling her daughter it was her fault she got raped. This constant barrage of attack against biblical Christianity never seems to relent. Remember when Brennan Manning and J.P. Moreland1 used the term “bibliolatry” to say that Christians who put too much focus on the Bible are committing idolatry. And remember when Rick Warren twisted Scripture to tell his readers (in The Purpose Driven Life) that those who think too much about Bible prophecy and the Lord’s return were “not fit for the kingdom of God.”2  We could give example after example of this attack on Christian believers by those who profess to be Christian from one side of their mouth but seek to destroy it from the other side. Erwin McManus is another example: He said that it was his “goal to destroy Christianity”:

My goal is to destroy Christianity as a world religion and be a recatalyst for the movement of Jesus Christ. . . . Some people are upset with me because it sounds like I’m anti-Christian. I think they might be right.3

And on and on it goes. Christians who adhere to biblical beliefs are being beat down and made to look like there is something really wrong with them and they better get with the program.
It’s interesting that in Bethke’s new book, he quotes Rob Bell talking about “the cross” (p. 125).  Interesting because Rob Bell doesn’t believe in the biblical atonement through the Cross. He believes that everyone is going to be saved regardless of their acceptance or rejection of the Cross. So it seems like a strange choice from Bethke; his book just came out this year – surely he has heard of Rob Bell’s beliefs on hell and salvation.

The “new” Christianity that is being propagated by Bethke, Bell, and countless other voices is not going away. Rather, it is helping to bring about strong delusion and a great fallingaway. Millions of young people, both Christian and non-Christian, are listening to these voices and following the beat of this drum. They are throwing out the faith of their youth and exchanging it for a “new” spirituality that will produce within them a mindset that rejects the message of the Cross. Not only are there political quests being achieved through the indoctrination of these young people, but these young followers are becoming convinced that a socialistic religion-killing society is the only solution for man. (Remember, Karl Marx said, “religion is the opiate of the masses” and John Lennon of  The Beatles said, imagine no religion).  And, tragically, the masses will continue to race down a broad road to deception through the multitude of false teachers.
Let us remember that before Jesus departed to heaven He commissioned His followers to proclaim the Gospel. The proclamation of the Cross is God’s hope for mankind. The Word of God has been likened to a blacksmith’s anvil; though many a hammer may be broken over the years pounding on that anvil, the anvil will hold its strength and integrity. It is ironic that emergents find comfort in attacking the Gospel and Bible-believing Christians. They say they love Jesus instead. What makes this so very ironic is that the apostle John is referred to in Scripture as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 21:20). Perhaps it would do emergents good to listen to some of the things John had to say – as it seems like his  first epistle was written especially for them. Addressing the idea of loving Jesus (or God) but hating Christianity, John had this to say:

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. (1 John 4: 20-21)

Now, if we look at the context of the chapter from which these verses were taken, it becomes evident that John is writing about solid doctrinal Christianity. And he is saying that when we hate and reject these things, and the people who adhere to them, we are hating and rejecting God. When they say they love Jesus but hate the church (i.e., Christianity), they aren’t talking about hating buildings; they are talking about hating people. As for the teaching of the Cross, John makes it exceptionally clear in this epistle that “he is the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 2:2):

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)

When we talk about love, we should really be talking about the Cross as this was and is God’s ultimate expression of His love toward us that makes it possible to spend eternity with Him when we receive this gift of love, by faith.
As we look into John’s life more carefully, it becomes apparent that he was not like an emergent at all. While the emergent figures of today seek to be hip and popular and mimic what each other has to say, John stood for the truth regardless of what the masses were saying or wanted to hear. Foxe’s Book of Martyrs records that even though he was the only apostle to escape a violent death, he was cast into a cauldron of boiling oil. And though he escaped miraculously, he was afterward banished to the Isle of Patmos (p. 27, LT edition).
If you are a young person reading this, remember that popularity in the world’s eyes is not a sign of being in God’s favor but is rather an indicator that something may be wrong (see 1 John 4: 5-6). Nor does partying with friends, even if they call themselves lovers of Jesus, offer assurance of eternal life. No, it is through the Cross alone that the offer of eternal life has been extended. And that is the truth!

Holder, Jr., while Attorney General of the United States, testified under oath before Congress on May 15, 2013, that he was neither involved in nor had heard of a potential prosecution of the press. However three days later, the Department of Justice released documents naming journalist James Rosen as a co-conspirator in an alleged violation of the Espionage Act. Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of the United States, confirmed to the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives in a letter dated June 19, 2013, that he approved of a search warrant on James Rosen.
Wherefore, Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of the United States, is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and should be removed from office and disqualified to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

COMMON CORE: 15 YEAR OLD CONNECTS THE DOTS ABOUT ITS DANGERS

PATRICK RICHARDSON

Published on Oct 13, 2013
Grace Lewis, founder and organizer of Arkansas Against Common Core, did not know the power she would unleash when she asked a technologically savvy local youth to help her create a website for Arkansas Against Common Core. Patrick Richardson, a then 15 year old youth with high personal standards and a vast interest in technology, answered that request when he presented Mrs. Lewis with an organized, well researched, fact based website. At that time, shocked and elated, Mrs. Lewis asked Richardson if he would also like to speak at the upcoming House and Senate Joint Education Committee Interim Study on Common Core. He was up to the challenge and showed up at the hearing with a presentation that completely amazed everyone including the Joint Education Committee and the State Department of Education. No one was prepared for Patrick’s well researched power point presentation on the money trail behind Common Core. He left many with dropped jaws and stunned faces.

Patrick continues to impress all of us at Arkansas Against Common Core by his own investigation and analysis of many large, wordy documents like Race to The Top, The State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, and the PARCC agreement, etc. Because of his ability to expose the facts with a tenacious, no nonsense wit, he is frequently asked to speak on talk radio and take interviews. Having done his own research, he has no fear when it comes to hard-hitting questions or big names like the Dave Elswick Show. As he continues to delve into different areas of the Common Core Standards and its aligned test, curricula and longitudinal data systems, he shares his knowledge and expertise by revealing the core of Common Core through presentations and interviews.

Some may wonder what produces a young man like Patrick Richardson. Patrick is quick to credit his success to the role his family has played, by instilling in him strong religious beliefs and values, and encouraging him to develop his God given talents. Mrs. Lewis believes this is what has enabled him to become the mature, highly motivated, ambitious, well rounded productive young man he is today.

It is amazing how even a 15-year-old (now 16), can connect the dots and see the fallacies of the Common Core Initiative. Thank you Patrick for all that you do in this ever-mounting battle for our liberties, as Thomas Paine stated, “Those who expect to reap the blessing of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

OBAMA PLOTTING TO TRAIN ISLAMIC LIBYAN FORCES AS CHAOS MOUNTS

The New American reports at http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/16976-obama-plotting-to-train-islamic-libyan-forces-as-chaos-mounts.
Excerpts:
“After having handed the smoldering ruins of Libya to a gaggle of radical Islamists and al Qaeda-linked fanatics by helping oust and summarily execute despot Moammar Gadhafi, the U.S. government is now working on a scheme to train Libyan “troops” and “security forces.” All of it will help the embattled Muslim Brotherhood-linked Islamic regime cement its loose grip on power as it enforces sharia law.”
“According to Adm. William McRaven, commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command, the U.S. government plans to train between 5,000 and 7,000 Libyan “security” personnel. The scheme will include both conventional troops and “counterterrorism forces.”

CALL FOR OBAMA’S IMPEACHMENT~CIVIL UNREST A REAL POSSIBILITY

Federal Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy:

Obama Guilty Of Serial Fraud

Impeachment & Removal

Is The Remedy

Republished in full from Renew America are two very sobering articles why Obama should be impeached. Both are reprinted in full, unedited, for educational purposes:

November 17, 2013 at: http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/sthompson/131117

“On the impeachment of Barack Obama”
For a number of reasons, Barack Obama should be impeached from the American presidency, and understandably, there are rumblings from concerned Americans calling for just that. He is certainly doing the “high crimes and misdemeanors” that merit removal of an American President. (Search “The Case to Impeach” at www.grassfire.com, the site of Grassroots Action, Inc.) What is most galling is the indisputable fact that any white man displaying similar behavior would have been impeached by now and probably serving prison time.

Although impeachment is very much in order, the authors of the pamphlet “The Case to Impeach” admit that it is unlikely. The idea of impeachment hearings, an impeachment vote in the House, and an impeachment trial in the Senate is a nonstarter. The current crop of political “leaders” are not of the stuff to follow through on such an arduous task. It would require courage that few of them have.

Besides there being no leaders of the caliber to pull off such an act of justice, I wonder if every-day, patriotic Americans are prepared to see impeachment through. How many are ready for the civil unrest that would surely follow a serious effort to remove Obama?

The barely literate masses of welfare slaves; black gangs; leftist operatives, such as the New Black Panthers and Farrakhan’s Black Muslims; and all the forces currently under the spell of Obama will be coerced into the streets. It is very likely that the coercion, wreaking massive havoc and bloodshed, will be directed by Obama and Attorney General, Eric Holder. The desired race war would be underway. And we can be assured that no law enforcement will be turned against the mobs, because Obama and Holder control law enforcement.

If Americans strike back, Obama would probably turn the force of the military against the violence in the streets. That could be tricky, because he does not know how much of the military will follow his orders, given that many of them despise him – as he despises them. Whatever the case, we can see where impeachment could lead.

Recall the utter madness among the Left that accompanied the impeachment of Bill Clinton for lying under oath. The Left fomented lie after lie after lie to present the picture that Clinton was impeached for being a serial adulterer, instead of for lying under oath. And those who knew full well why he was impeached convinced themselves that somehow lying under oath was not much of a crime if Democrat President Bill Clinton did it. I witnessed a beloved high school teacher of mine (Democrat) vehemently lament that her “vote was being taken away from her.” She seemed oblivious to Clinton’s criminal behavior. Lying under oath was then and still is a criminal offense.

Consider this behavior from the Left regarding Clinton and envision what the possible response will be to impeachment of their “Leftist Mixed-Race Wonder.” A full-court press on the part of conservatives and Republicans would be absolutely necessary to counter every lie broadcast about the reasons for Obama’s impeachment. Conservative spokespeople would have to be forceful, articulate, and unapologetic (meaning, drop the silly smiling faces) in their confrontations with the Left, regarding the legality of the move. Republican lawmakers would also have to be prepared to counter Eric Holder’s selective enforcement of law against the violence sure to ensue. Without a committed push-back, an initiation of impeachment is a waste of time. It cannot be a repeat of President George W. Bush’s refusal to counter the savage treatment that he received from the Left during his tenure.

An impeachment would require confrontation at every step of the process and it may well become violent confrontation. I say it is time for that confrontation, to eliminate further destruction of the nation, but that’s just me.

“Impeach Obama to save America
think 2014″
Just in time for Halloween, I wrote an edgy column about Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) and his aggressive campaign against our military, how he is stripping it of commanders loyal to the Constitution, jacking it up by forcing the insane, anti-Christian homosexual agenda on it, and more. In the piece, I noted that the military is likely the only earthly power that could stop Obama from his lawless assault on the United States. While I was not calling for a military coup, I was wishing the military would just arrest Obama for his crimes. (Is there a difference between the two? Probably not.) Of course, that’s not the way it works, nor would that be a constitutional remedy.

The column was just an expression of my deep frustration, sorrow, and outrage at what this man and his fellow commies in the administration, Congress, the judiciary, and federal bureaucracies are doing to this great nation. However, the only constitutional solution for ridding ourselves of a lawless president is the prosecution of impeachment, and if anyone is worthy of impeachment, it is Barack Obama and those in his administration who are perpetrating a vicious anti-American war on our country. The list of impeachable offenses is extensive, not the least of which are his bold lies andactionable, criminal fraud in cramming the unconstitutional, deceptively-named “Affordable Care Act” down our throats, Chief Justice John “Quisling” Roberts’ horrendous, twisted ruling notwithstanding.

No, a U.S. military coup is not the answer. As Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyeswrote in a column published on Veteran’s Day:

I’ve noticed that some people openly wish the U.S. military would move against Obama. Any such action would be, prima facie, a military insurrection, a fatal act of treasonous war in the course of which any involved military personnel would be subject to peremptory execution. No one loyal to the Constitution finds hope for America in the prospect of such an event.

The congressional impeachment/removal process is the only constitutional way to end unconstitutional abuses of the U.S. government’s power at the highest levels. It can only occur if the people effectively demand it. The people can effectively demand it only by electing a U.S. Congress controlled by a sufficient majority in both Houses to achieve the desired result. In this respect, liberty is a Do-It-Yourself proposition. Only the people can rescue the constitutional sovereignty of the people from destruction.

Naturally, I will hear comments of “Dream on. There’s no way Obama will ever be impeached.” So, that means we all just sit down and shut up? I understand that we are not only battling the communist Democrats, but also the “establishment” Republicans, for the constitutional soul and foundational freedoms of our nation, and I also know that none of these people will make such a move against Obama. But, if we can miraculously overcome Democrat election and voter fraud in the 2014 midterm elections, we could re-take the Senate and hold, or even make gains, in the House. Obama cannot veto his own impeachment.

There is another huge aspect to Congress’s fear of removing Obama from office that I have long considered and that Sylvia Thompson noted in her latest column. It is the likelihood of violent, feral behavior from Obama’s senseless supporters.

Ms. Thompson wrote:

… An impeachment would require confrontation at every step of the process and it may well become violent confrontation. I say it is time for that confrontation, to eliminate further destruction of the nation, but that’s just me.

Yes, in Obama, the communist Left has the perfect candidate. Because of his mixed race (although he looks black, he’s also half white, but don’t tell that to the race-baiters), they have crafted an aura of untouchability around him, stupidly shouting “racism!” for any criticism of his treasonous actions and policies. They also have a standing army of zombies, Obamatons, who would be dispatched to the streets of America in the event that anyone makes a real move to expel the first “black” “president” from office.

So, is impeachment really impossible? No, it’s not. Think 2014. That’s the key. Stephen Stone, President of RenewAmerica, also makes the clear, compelling case for setting impeachment of Obama as our goal in the 2014 midterms. Declaring that we must elect an IMPEACHMENT CONGRESS in 2014, Mr. Stone states:

For proof of the power of IMPEACHMENT ALONE, we need look no further than two modern examples of presidents who’ve been subjected to impeachment: Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. Nixon resigned during his impeachment hearings once the facts came out; and Clinton had little popular or political support following his impeachment by the House, even though the Senate failed to follow through and remove him.

Of course, removal by the Senate is the best possible outcome, and should be tenaciously pursued – but it’s not essential to stopping a corrupt president, historical precedent clearly shows.

Should the House impeach Obama with sufficient evidence to justify his removal, a powerful groundswell from an irate citizenry can be expected to pressure the Senate to convict – upon threat of retaliation at the polls in 2016 for neglecting their constitutional duty. Removal of Obama in that case would then be more than a remote possibility, if enough vocal citizens across America rose up and pushed for it.

This means IT’S UP TO US – the people – to stop Barack Obama and his minions through the “constitutional remedy” of impeachment and removal, beginning with electing Constitution-minded representatives to the House and Senate in 2014.

That’s it, folks, the bottom line. And while it’s certainly not an easy proposition, it is one that we must chase with the greatest intensity. I know it’s also a scary prospect. Sylvia Thompson is spot-on when she wonders if we are prepared for the violence that would surely follow any serious effort to remove Obama from office. I don’t see how we can ever truly be prepared for such a thing, and while it’s sometimes quite tough not to do, we should never let fear dictate our action – or inaction, in this case.

In all of this, we must also remember that no matter how wretched things look, the Lord is in charge, and we must continue to earnestly petition Him in prayer for His mercy on this undeserving nation. We are not, and could never be, deserving of anything but death; however, God, in his boundless love for us, has made a way through Jesus, that each of us can gain the grace of salvation through Jesus’ willing sacrifice on the cross. While salvation is for individuals, it is our hope that the Lord may yet relent from the seemingly inexorable judgment that is falling on America.

And let’s get that Obama impeachment steamroller out for the 2014 midterms. Never give up, and never give in, Friends.

JUSTIN PETERS: WORD OF FAITH HERESY~A CALL FOR DISCERNMENT

Published on Feb 2, 2013
www.JustinPeters.org – “A Call for Discernment” Seminar Overview – This is an overview of Justin Peters’ seminar entitled “A Call for Discernment”. “A Call for Discernment” is a comprehensive biblical critique of what is properly known as the Word of Faith movement but is more commonly known as the Health and Wealth, or, Prosperity gospel. Word-Faith theology essentially holds that it is always God’s will for a person to be monetarily wealthy and physically healed. If a person needs money or physical healing it is guaranteed provided that that person has enough faith and sows a large enough “seed” (translated money) into a particular prosperity preacher’s ministry. Word-Faith theology dominates “Christian” cable and satellite television networks such as TBN, Daystar, the Inspiration Network, the Word Network, Lesea Broadcasting and others. Some of the prominent proponents of this movement include Benny Hinn, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer, Andrew Wommack, Joseph Prince and Joel Osteen. Though many Christians know that there is something wrong with the prosperity message, few understand that it actually constitutes one of the most dire threats to historical Christianity. The theology of the Word-Faith movement is rooted in the metaphysical cults and compromises or denies some of the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith. The Word-Faith movement has a distorted view of the nature of man, God, the Person and work of Jesus Christ, and offers unbiblical reasons to come to Christ. In short, the prosperity gospel is a different gospel indeed, and a different gospel does not save. In this seminar, Justin incorporates dozens of video clips of today’s most prominent Word-Faith preachers which allows people to see and hear for themselves what the prosperity preachers are actually teaching. Each point of doctrinal error is, in turn, corrected biblically. Believers are commanded by Scripture to exercise discernment (Acts 17:11, 1 Thess. 5:21) and this seminar is designed to help believers do this, not only as it relates to the Word-Faith movement, but to every aspect of Christian theology and daily life.

COMMON CORE: ARNE DUNCAN INSULTS WHITE SUBURBAN MOMS~SAYS THEIR KIDS ARE NOT AS SMART AS THEY THOUGHT

Superintendent Blasts Education Secretary Duncan Over Suburban Moms Comment

Comsewogue Superintendent argues against U.S. Education Department Secretary Arne Duncan’s statements about “white suburban moms” and common core.
See: http://portjefferson.patch.com/groups/schools/p/rella-responds-to-education-secretary-arne-duncan-saying-youre-missing-the-point.
Superintendent Joseph Rella’s letter to Duncan, reprinted unedited below in full:
“Secretary Arne Duncan
U.S. Department of Education 400 Maryland Avenue, SW Washington, D.C. 20202
Dear Secretary Duncan:
My name is Joseph Rella. I am the Superintendent of Schools in the Comsewogue School District located in Port Jefferson Station, New York. I am writing to you as a non-white surburban mother to express my deep concern over recent comment that you made regarding criticism of the common core implementation.
You stated that some of the opposition to the Common Core State Standards has come from “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.”
I do not believe that your statement was racially motivated but I’m having trouble understanding how it was not meant to divide. You need to know that if the common core initiative has succeeded at anything, it has succeeded in uniting all the disparate groups throughout our state and country – white and nonwhite, urban and suburban, mothers, fathers, educators, and politicians of all parties. I believe you’re missing the point. Ignoring our real concerns and engaging in divisive rhetoric will not make the issue disappear.
As educators, when we receive a complaint from a parent, skin color and gender are not discounting factors to what they are saying. Further, parents are not pushing back because they – all of a sudden – discovered that their children weren’t brilliant or that their schools weren’t quite as good as they thought. Many parents are pushing back because – all of a sudden – their children’s experience of school had changed since the miserable implementation of the Common Core Initiative and it had not changed for the better. Children in our district, on Long Island, and across the state are experiencing increased levels of anxiety, stress, behavioral problems, sleep deprivation, respiratory issues, and in the worst cases, self-abusive and self-destructive behaviors…children are experiencing this. It is abusive and it is breaking their spirit. These behaviors are becoming more pervasive and they are occurring among younger and younger children. The “Common Core Disorder,” as it’s coming to be called, is here and growing.
Now I’m sure I will hear that there is no proven connection between the Common Core Initiative and what our children are experiencing. Sacrificing a generation of students to prove or disprove a correlation or discounting it because it is anecdotal evidence and not based on research is completely unacceptable. After all, the Common Core standards were adopted by the vast majority of states without any peer-reviewed studies but many claims about how it would make us globally competitive, claims that have not been subjected to any serious scrutiny. If anecdotal evidence is good enough for the Common Core, it most certainly should be good enough for our children.
The growing outrage of parents and educators across our state is the result of the purposeful deafness of the educational leadership at the state and federal levels to our legitimate concerns.
As a practical matter, student achievement has not improved anywhere this initiative has been introduced. We need look no further than New Orleans, Chicago, and Philadelphia to see the end result of the corporate takeover of our public schools. Significantly, not one single word was spoken about the effects of those grand initiatives on the children of those cities. We see a similar pattern here in New York. We don’t want that to happen here. We will do everything in our power to prevent it from happening here in New York. We will not be silent. We need responsive leadership, not sound bites.”

POLICE STATE OF NEW JERSEY TRAMPLES FREE SPEECH OF RETIRED POLICEMAN HANDING OUT GOSPEL TRACTS

Retired Police Officer Arrested

for Sharing Gospel in New Jersey Mall

David Wells is a former corporal with the Long Branch Police Department, and over the past year, he has spent time sharing his faith at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown. Wells says that he likes to distribute materials from Ray Comfort’s Living Waters Publications to shoppers in hopes that it will cause them to ponder matters of eternity. This past week, he handed out Comfort’s trillion dollar bill tract while asking a “trillion dollar” question.
EXCERPTS:
The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in 1994 in the case of New Jersey Coalition Against War in the Middle East v. J.M.B. Realty Corporation that malls followed the “historical path of free speech,” in the vein of parks, squares and downtown business districts. It allowed citizens to leaflet both inside and outside malls, but did not endorse other forms of expression such as public speeches.
“We believe that this constitutional free speech right, thus limited, will perform the intended role of assuring that the free speech of New Jersey’s citizens can be heard, can be effective, and can reach at least as many people as it used to before the downtown business districts were transported to the malls,” the court wrote.
“[S]ome people will not like it, any more perhaps than they liked free speech at the downtown business districts. Dislike for free speech, however, has never been the determinant of its protection or its benefit. We live with it, we permit it, as we have for more than two hundred years,” the court stated. “It is free speech, it is constitutionally protected; it is part of this State, and so are these centers.”

CATHOLIC MARY IDOLATRY AT SHRINE IN WISCONSIN~GOSPEL IMPACT OF A SMALL CHURCH

OUR LADY OF GOOD HELP, GREEN BAY/CHAMPION, WISCONSIN

“Surrounded by dairy farms and fields of corn, oats and soybeans, The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help stands humbly, yet majestically, in a quiet and beautiful spot of rural Northeast Wisconsin. The Shrine’s Chapel was the first house of worship in the Belgian settlement…and it all began when Adele Brise’s father erected a 10-foot-by-12-foot oratory near the spot of Adele’s vision of Our Blessed Mother. A small picture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, given to Adele by Father William Verhoef, was the only adornment of this makeshift chapel. As news of the apparitions spread, pilgrims arrived almost daily to the oratory, making it apparent that the structure was too small to accommodate the faithful. In 1861, the settlers—with the help of Adele’s father, Lambert Brise, and a donation from Mrs. Isabella Doyen of five acres of land around the holy knoll—built a 24-foot-by-40-foot Chapel. According to a description of the Chapel reported in the Kewaskum Enterprise, the building was capable of seating about 100 people, and the inscription over the entrance of the Chapel read “Notre Dame de bon Secours, priez pour nous.” The description continues:
“In the auditorium, low, unpainted benches without backs answered the purpose of pews, but the chancel and the altar were richly and expensively decorated with paintings, images and silver plate. On one of the walls of the chancel were hung eight crutches, said to have been left by cripples who had been cured of their lameness through the instrumentality of Our Lady, and which are regarded as ever present witnesses of her power.”
“Despite the lack of official diocesan recognition of the apparition, and due to the increased demands on the original Chapel, pastoral sanction was given in 1880 for the building of a new, larger Chapel, school and convent. The new brick Chapel was built directly over the trees on the site where the Blessed Virgin had appeared to Sister Adele. The new Chapel was formally dedicated with a blessing from Bishop Krautbauer, in October of 1880. Recalling Sister Adele and the building of the 1880 Chapel, a student at the Chapel, Soeur Marie du Sacré Coeur once stated:
“I remember well, when I was about eight years old, we would pray and sing hymns around the trees where the Virgin Mother had appeared to Sister Adele. I also remember when the brick Chapel was built, and the precious trees were cut down to build the Chapel, and the altar placed on the spot.”

A Witness for Christ in Front of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help
“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfill all thy petitions.” Psalm 20:5

There are many Roman Catholic Marian shrines in America, and the number is growing; but as I have mentioned in the past, thus far, the only shrine which is officially recognized as an apparition site is near Green Bay, Wisconsin—in fact, a little over a mile from the hamlet of Champion. It was here that the Roman Catholic goddess supposedly appeared three times in 1859 to a Belgian immigrant named Adele Brise. Supposedly, since then, many miracles have taken place at this shrine, including many healings. The number of pilgrims visiting the Our Lady of Good Help Shrine is rapidly multiplying. While a great number of special Roman Catholic events take place at the shrine every year, the biggest event of all is the “Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary,” held every year on August 15 to commemorate the day when Rome’s goddess, which popery blasphemously calls “the Mother of God,” was assumed, as the popish lie goes, uncorrupted body and sinless soul into heaven.
This year, we again traveled to the shrine near Champion to be a witness for Christ and His gospel to the pope’s spiritual slaves and, at the same time, a biblical witness against Romish blasphemy and idolatry. At 3:45 AM on a Thursday, five of us from Pilgrims Covenant Church along with our brothers Mark and Pete from Omaha, Nebraska set out for the shrine near Champion, where we were also joined by Renée, a Christian sister from a church in east central Wisconsin who joins us in open-air ministry as she is able.
Our intent in heading out that early in the morning was to have our witness in place when the first Roman Catholic pilgrims began arriving at the shrine, long before the 10:00 AM start of the mass which is followed by a parading of both the monstrance with a “consecrated, transubstantiated wafer” by a bishop and the Mary idol on the shoulders of young girls dressed in white, escorted by Knights of Columbus in their full regalia. Both of these idols are paraded in order that the Roman Catholic people on hand can fall on their knees and worship the idol of their goddess as well as the “real presence” of Christ—supposedly Christ Himself, His deity and humanity, His body and His soul—in the consecrated wafer.
This year’s Feast of the Assumption at the shrine had an additional draw to Roman Catholics since a cardinal was the chief celebrant of the mass with the area bishop the co-celebrant. The cardinal was Francis Cardinal George, archbishop of Chicago. The bishop was David Ricken, who usually is the chief celebrant; but the cardinal was on hand; and so Ricken played second fiddle in the blasphemous rite this year, although he did have the so-called honor of parading before the people the consecrated host in an ornate monstrance with four attendants holding a fancy awning over his head and the people, including poor little children, bowing on all sides to worship. Do such things not stir your heart with a righteous jealousy for the Lord Jesus Christ, for His blood and righteousness and His honor and glory? Do they not stir up your heart with a desire to see the Roman Catholic people brought out of darkness and into the wonderful light of gospel liberty—that is, by free grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ Jesus alone?
The mass, the parading of the monstrance, and then the parading of the idol of the goddess all take place out of our view and, other than some singing, out of our hearing on the shrine grounds. But we are able by our Scripture signs, tracts, and preaching to be a witness to all those arriving at the shrine grounds. Now, these are a people sitting in darkness that must needs be shown a great light—the light of evangelical truth, the light of the doctrines of the gospel—if they are to be made free of the grievous, soul-damning errors of popery and made free indeed in Christ. As usual, this year, we set up our witness on the strip of public land, the road right-of-way along the front of the shrine property. All cars and buses going into the shrine must go past us. We were in place two and one-half hours before the event began, and Roman Catholics were just starting to arrive. By a little less an hour before the mass, cars were lined up as far as we could see and standing still, then creeping forward, then stopping, then creeping forward. Here is what those Romanists arriving at the shrine saw on our two-sided signs and had plenty of time to read:

Flee from idolatry. 1 Corinthians 10:14
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found. Isaiah 55:6
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Luke 1:47
ONE mediator between God and men: Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Acts 16:31
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out. Acts 3:19
Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many. Hebrews 9:28

By the way, the Roman Catholic newspaper the Compass included two pictures of some of our signs on its Flickr photostream. So even more Roman Catholics read the Scriptures I mentioned earlier. The Green Bay Press-Gazette and the Door County Advocate also ran stories on the Feast of the Assumption event at the shrine and included quotes from me. I would just as soon avoid the press, but there are times when it is worthwhile to do an interview. This was one of those times, and I do believe it was good for the public to hear a Christian pastor witness against Roman Catholic heresy and idolatry.
We were able to get out a good number of our From Death unto Life booklets to individuals in cars as well as individuals who walked off the shrine grounds to engage us, including rank-and-file Roman Catholics, including shrine public relations officials, including pilgrims and even a priest. In addition to our booklet, we put in each of them a letter I wrote titled “Dear Roman Catholic.”
I have never seen so many priests and seminary students at the Our Lady of Good Help Shrine or at any other shrine. This was no doubt due to the presence of the cardinal this year. I was able to preach to a number of priests sitting in cars filled with seminary students. What generally happened is the priest would roll down his window and shout out some derogatory remark to one of our people holding one of our large signs. Then I would go over from where I was and begin preaching to the priest and his charges as the car was sitting still and also as it was creeping forward in the line. On each occasion, the priest was too proud to close his window, or perhaps it is more that he was restrained by the Lord.
We also had interaction with a couple of priests on foot. We had no more than set up our large signs when one priest came howling out and got in my face. For just under fifteen minutes, it was a no-holds-barred verbal confrontation with the priest even making a little physical contact several times. This man mocked; lied; perverted the Scriptures; accused me of being a deceiver, a heretic, etc.; and at one time, got very close and informed me that I would call him “Father.” In fact, he did that twice. I obviously let him know in no uncertain terms that will never happen.
This priest mocked and ridiculed true, biblical Christianity. He grossly misquoted the Bible a number of times, making it obvious that he both held the Scriptures in contempt and did not even have much knowledge of them. At one point, he bluntly said, “The Bible is not true”; and at another time, he called the Scriptures “baloney.” When Mark confronted the priest with the scriptural fact that Peter was married, the priest proudly declared that Peter deserted his wife to be the first pope! Obviously, I preached pretty intensely to this man and, yes, in the process, also indicted him as a ravening wolf, his pope as antichrist, and popery as the murderer of millions of our brethren, naming for instance the Waldenses, the Huguenots, the Bohemians, and so forth.
Now, toward the end of our ministry time at the Our Lady of Good Help Shrine, another priest and two seminary students arrived on foot. Our brother Pete, as he was handing out gospel booklets to occupants of cars backed up from the shrine entrance, spent some time witnessing to this young priest; and then I spent a good deal of time as well, in each case the seminary students listening intently. This young, earnest man was a brand new priest. He may well have never been witnessed to or heard Roman Catholic error exposed. He was very humble, asking many questions. I explained that the first and central issue was, How are sinners saved? As I was explaining the differences between the true way of salvation and popery, I eventually began to speak of regeneration. At that point, the priest quietly said to me, “What is regeneration? I have never heard of that.” And so it went until I had need to attend to something else. At that point, the priest asked if we could pray together as brothers. When I explained why I could not join with him in that way as he was not a Christian, he very humbly said that he understood.
I am of the firm conviction, the longer a priest is a priest and certainly the higher he goes in the Catholic clergy hierarchy, the less likely it is that he will be saved. For instance, have you ever heard of a cardinal who was saved and renounced Romanism? Certainly, we do not ever look for antichrist, any of the popes, to be saved; but we can have much hope for a priest, such as the young man I told you about, that the Lord would be pleased to make him a trophy of grace. And by the way, that priest did willingly accept our bookletFrom Death unto Life.
By way of encouragement, I should alsomention that I had opportunity to preach a bit to a group of teenagers, including the girls dressed in white who had been given the so-called honor of carrying the statue on their shoulders—that is, the platform on which the statue stood. It was a blessing to tell them of the fully sufficient Saviour; of the full, free, and forever salvation they could have by free grace alone, by faith alone in His blood and righteousness and person alone.
There is so much more I could say about our witness at the Our Lady of Good Help Shrine this year. I certainly cannot say enough about the brothers and sisters in Christ with whom I was privileged to labor in front of the shrine. They all undertook that labor with a sincere heart of love for the Lord Jesus Christ first and then a great concern for the Roman Catholic people. All were content to suffer a little reproach for Christ. All took every opportunity to witness one-on-one with the Roman Catholics.

Dear Roman Catholic
A letter from Pastor Ralph Ovadal, Pilgrims Covenant Church
We count it a privilege to be a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ to you today. We are not here because we hate Roman Catholics—quite the contrary. We are here because we are deeply concerned for the glory of our Lord and also for your souls. I would like to briefly share some things with those of you who have come to the Lady of Good Help shrine.
You have been taught that the “Virgin Mary” is the Queen of Heaven, crowned so by Christ Himself. If such an eternally significant coronation, with such enormous spiritual implications, has taken place in heaven, why do we not read one word of it in the Word of God? Would not this total silence be demeaning to the “Queen of Heaven” and harmful to mankind? Have you not considered the blasphemous inconsistency of this claim: that a human being reigns over heaven—and so earth and all things—alongside the eternal God? Psalm 93:1: “The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” Revelation 19:6: . . . Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” The plain truth is the only “Queen of Heaven” mentioned in the Bible is a heathen goddess. Jeremiah 7:18:“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” Heathen religions venerate goddesses; the true followers of Jesus Christ most certainly do not.
You have been taught that Mary was a perpetual virgin, but the Scriptures never make that claim about her—quite the opposite. For instance, Matthew chapter one, verse twenty-five says of Mary’s husband, Joseph, that he “knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.” Now, many apologists for homosexuality claim Genesis nineteen, verse five, proves that the men of Sodom only wanted to make the acquaintance of Lot’s guests, not have carnal relations with them. “And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.” Unfortunately, your church must pervert the Word of God in a similar fashion in order to convince you that Mary never was a true wife to her husband. The Word of God says that Mary’s husband “knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn.” In other words, after Jesus was born, Joseph did “know” Mary, and obviously the Word of God is not speaking of Joseph making Mary’s acquaintance. Of course, other passages make it very clear that Jesus had brothers and sisters, the children of Joseph and Mary.
Your church teaches you that Mary is the mother of God: for instance, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, para 495: “. . . the Church confesses that Mary is truly ‘Mother of God’ (Theotokos).” Para 966 blasphemously states that Mary “conceived the living God.” Every true Christian knows that Jesus, as to His humanity, was “conceived . . . of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 1:20) and made of the substance of Mary—that is, He was “made of a woman, made under the law” (Galatians 4:4). Every true Christian also knows that the Scriptures clearly teach that Christ Jesus is “God . . . manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16). Christ, the one and only Mediator between God and men, is both true God and true man, two entirely distinct natures inseparably joined in one Person. Now, while Mary is indisputably the mother of Jesus with regard to His humanity, she is most definitely not the mother of His deity! God by definition is eternally self-existent. He certainly was not “made of a woman” and was not “conceived by Mary”! Psalm 90:2: Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” To claim Mary is the Mother of God is to declare that Jesus Christ is not God manifest in the flesh but only a man.John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”Hebrews 1:8:“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”
You have been taught that Mary (CCC, para 411) “was preserved from all stain of original sin and by a special grace of God committed no sin of any kind during her whole earthly life.” This claim is a brazen contradiction of the Word of God. Ecclesiastes 7:20: “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Psalm 14:3: “They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 5:12: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” There is not even a hint in the Word of God to suggest that Mary was born with an original, perfect righteousness and throughout her life lived in perfect conformity to the righteousness of God in thought, word, deed, and intent of the heart. Mary, unlike Jesus, was a fallen child of Adam and certainly was not “God . . . manifest in the flesh.” Because she was a sinner, Mary herself testified “my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:47).
Given just these examples of many gross errors which the Roman Catholic Church teaches about Mary, it is no wonder that your church also teaches you to pray to Mary as if she were God, or perhaps a goddess. CCC, para 2679: “Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. . . . We can pray with and to her. . . .” Have you ever considered that the only way Mary would be able to hear the prayers of millions, all around the world, at any given time, is for Mary to be omnipresent and have the ability to hear and discern millions of voices all speaking to her at once? Only God is omnipresent and all-knowing. The Scriptures are clear that we are to pray to God alone, and to pray to human beings who have died is forbidden as necromancy.
The Roman Catholic Church, by her clergy, also teaches you that Mary is a mediator between God and men. CCC, para 969: “. . . the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” Those titles are wrongly given to Mary and would make her a usurper of Christ’s glory and His mediatorial ministry by which He executes the offices of the church’s Prophet, Priest, and King. 1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
Now, in closing, please allow me to address one more aspect of the idolatry of what can only be called “Mariolatry.” The Scriptures are most abundantly clear that, first, we are not to make any images of God—Father, Son, or Holy Spirit—whatsoever for any purpose. Secondly, we are not to make any images of any man, woman, child, or created thing for use in worship or prayer.
Exodus 20:4-5: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lordthy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me . . .”
Deuteronomy 4:15-18: “Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the Lord spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air, the likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth . . .”
Those are just two of many passages of the Word of God which forbid and condemn the very thing you are doing today—not only using a graven image in your worship service but also blasphemously bowing down before that image.
I must warn you that the Scriptures repeatedly warn that idolaters will not enter the kingdom of God. For just one example, I would urge you to read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 which begins with “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, noridolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.” That passage ends with good news for those who have repented of their sins and trusted in Christ Jesus alone for the remission of sins and everlasting life: “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Please read the gospel booklet titled From Death unto Life which accompanies this letter. Our prayer is that the Spirit of the Lord will use that faithful and true gospel message of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone to save your soul and make you a “new creature” in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Dear Roman Catholic friend, out of Christian love, we urge you to flee from the idolatry and blasphemy of the Roman Catholic Church. Flee from the wrath to come. Seek the Lord while He may be found. By the free grace and tender mercy of God, take hold on Christ alone and take hold on the everlasting life which is in Him alone. John 3:36: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

Apparitions Exposed

Can a born again Christian be a member of a cult and be involved in idol worship? I once thought this was an impossibility until it happened to me. Now I understand why Jesus warned us that, in the end times, there would be an appearance of great signs and miracles that would deceive even the elect, if possible. I confess I have been seduced by signs and miracles associated with apparitions of Mary, and I offer my testimony so others may be warned and delivered.
Until recently I was serving as Director of Public Relations for the Queen of Peace Center in Dallas, Texas. This non-profit organization disseminates information and messages from Marian apparitions in Medjugorje and around the world. I co-authored a full page ad that was published in the June 25, 1993, Dallas Morning News at a cost of $10,000. This add announced “Mary’s” prescription for peace and listed locations of her recent appearances. It also listed phone numbers to call for up-to-day recorded messages of Mary’s latest apparitions, such as the one in Dallas (214) 233-MARY. I once thought it was special to be the only non-Catholic on the Queen of Peace board . . . that is, until I met Mike Gendron and his wife, Jane.
A Divine Appointment
Neighbors and close friends of mine knew I was seriously contemplating becoming Roman Catholic. They told me that Mike had been a Roman Catholic for 37 years and was now a pastor at a non-denominational church in the Dallas area. They said he understood many of the issues involved in being Roman Catholic and could help me with my decision. I looked forward to meeting both Mike and his wife, not for my sake, but for theirs. I felt certain the information I had collected about “Our Lady’s apparitions” in Medjugorje would surely lead them back home to the “true” (Roman Catholic) church. Providentially it appeared, I attended a Queen of Peace board meeting the night before we met and asked the board to pray for this lost pastor and his wife, who had fallen away. When I arrived at their door the next morning, I first introduced myself, before returning to my car for the large stack of books and newspapers I had brought to persuade them. The materials would help explain what was happening in Medjugorje and how the Virgin Mary would help change their lives.
Confronted by Contradictions
After we met, they showed me a film titled Catholicism: Crisis of Faith. This film lovingly and objectively contrasted how the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church contradicts the teachings of the Sacred Scriptures. Mike would stop the film after each segment for my questions and comments. Initially, I was argumentative and felt uneasy and rather adamant about what I was witnessing. Mike realized he had forgotten to pray before starting the film and asked if we could ask God to make His truth clear, and that all deception would be exposed. After the prayer my whole countenance changed.
Each question I asked, Mike validated his answers using Vatican II documents and an official Roman Catholic catechism. It was amazing to me how Roman Catholic teaching contradicts the very Word of God. Question after question, he would bring the Bible over to me and knell to show me verses in context. His servant’s demeanor and patient, understanding heart helped in unraveling falsehood after falsehood. There wasn’t a question I could have asked him that would have provoked anger. As a reflection of our Lord, this man allowed Jesus to pull the scales away from my eyes.
There were three things in the film and our discussion that were most alarming to me. First, a church in South America has Mary placed on a crucifix rather than Christ. It reminded me of my visit to Our Lady of Guadeloupe Cathedral in downtown Dallas where Mary is positioned as the focal point at the alter and the crucifix is placed in another part of the church. These two scenes made me realize idolatry is practiced within the church.
Second, the Roman Catholic Catechism by Rev. William Cogan, now in its 44th year of print, has altered the 10 commandments of God. The 2nd commandment given to Moses reads, “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or in the earth beneath or in the water under the earth” (Exodus 20:4). The Roman Catholics have deleted this commandment but still came up with ten by splitting the 10th one into two separate commands. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s good; and you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife” (Exodus 20:17). I was reminded of the scriptural warnings for those who add to or subtract from the Bible.
Third, Mike told me the only place in the Bible in which the queen of heaven was referred to was in the Book of Jeremiah. He encouraged me to study the passage and it would expose another false doctrine concerning Mary. Anyone who is familiar with the prayers and meditations of the rosary can tell you that in one of the mysteries Christ supposedly crowned Mary the queen of heaven after she was assumed into heaven. Neither of these events have scriptural validity, but I had decided to blindly accept these doctrines because all of the other meditations on the life of Christ were verified by Scripture.
The Queen of Heaven
After returning home, I looked in the Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible for the passage in Jeremiah 44. Here, the Lord was angered by the wickedness of the people choosing to serve other gods. The people refused to listen to the Lord. Instead, they would “burn sacrifices to the Queen of Heaven and pour out libations to her.” The woman “made for her sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out libations to her?” (Jeremiah 44:1719).
In Hebrew the word for queen has reference to “the heavenly handiwork” or “the stars of heaven.” The reference might be to Ishtar, the goddess of love and fertility, who is identified with the Venus Star and is actually entitled “Mistress of Heaven.” (The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible, p. 975)
My head was spinning and filled with questions after reading this. Doesn’t Mary usually appear with stars for her crown? Who then is the woman in Revelation 12:3-6? And most importantly, why would the Roman Catholic Church give the mother of Jesus the title of a pagan goddess? Had I been promoting the ministry of a pagan goddess whose messages were inconsistent with the Bible? Indeed her messages do contradict the Bible. In fact, she speaks of another gospel, another plan of salvation that nullifies and opposes the all sufficient sacrifice of Jesus. The apparition of Fatima said, “You have seen Hell where the souls of poor sinners go, so save them, God wishes to establish in the world, devotion to my Immaculate Heart.” The apostle Paul condemned anyone, even an angel from heaven, who would dare preach a different way to be saved other than through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ (Galatians 1:6-10).
As for the woman described in Revelation, she is not Mary, the mother of Jesus, but God’s chosen people, the Jews. When the passage in chapter 12 is read in context with the rest of the book, and Genesis 37:9-10, this clearly refers to the nation Israel. God fulfills His promise to the Jews, by protecting them in the desert during 3 1/2 years of tribulation.
I later realized my prayers to Mary and the saints, the reciting of rosaries and chaplets of divine mercy, and the wearing of Marian medals and scapulars had taken my focus off of Jesus. I had allowed doctrines of the Roman Catholic church to do the very thing Saint Paul warned against, “But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” (2 Cor. 11:3).
An Angel of Light
Recently, a person whom I love dearly, and who has a “Marian devotion” asked me, “Why are you bothering the people who are already good people instead of worrying about those who are lost?” The answer came to me the other evening as the Lord continues to guide me through His sacred Word. Saint Paul wrote that “Satan masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). We know the mother of Jesus would never oppose her Son, and since the apparitions do just that, they could very well be Satan masquerading as Mary. Saint Paul also wrote, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them . . . everything exposed by the light becomes visible” (Ephesians 5:11-14). Therefore, I feel called to expose these attempts by the evil one to divert people’s devotion away from Jesus. The most authoritative way to do this is with the light of God’s Holy Word. My new test for truthfulness is — if it does not agree with the Scriptures then it must be rejected.
Freedom in the Truth
Now that I have torn down the altar in my bedroom, where I knelt and prayed to St. Anthony of Padua each night, and now that I have placed my rosaries, scapular and medals away, I have found a new freedom. The truth really does set people free! I have found special peace in knowing Jesus alone is my Savior, and not co-redemptrix with His mother. The Holy Spirit continues to lead me into all truth and is now the only teacher I need (1 John 2:27).
To all my precious friends who I have encouraged to seek Mary and to obey the misleading messages of her apparitions, I pray these Scriptures would minister to you — “And it came about while He said these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts at which you nursed.’ But He said, ‘On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11:27-28)

The Counterfeit Mary of Catholicism

Written by Mike Gendron on 09 July 2013.

Just as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, many are being led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ by a counterfeit Mary (2 Cor. 11:3). The blasphemies that Roman Catholicism teaches about Mary are deplorable and need to be exposed. According to Rome it was Mary who made atonement for sin and will crush the head of the serpent. She was sinless and continues to bring us the gifts of salvation. The Catholic perversion of Mary was the cause of salvation for the whole human race and she will deliver souls from death because she is the mediatrix of all grace.
The Catholic Douay-Reims Bible states in Genesis 3:15 that the woman herself will win the victory over Satan. It reads, “I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed; “she” shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.” This is a deliberate attempt to deceive because the Hebrew text clearly reads “He” (referring to Jesus) will crush the serpent’s head.
There are many more blasphemies in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). It teaches “Mary did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation” (CCC, para. 969). “The Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things. In giving birth you kept your virginity. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death” (CCC, para. 966). She is to be praised with special devotion (CCC, para, 971). Mary, “by special grace of God, committed no sin of any kind during her whole earthly life” (CCC, para.411). She was the cause of salvation for herself and the whole human race (CCC, para. 494). The Catholic Church promises that all those who seek Mary’s protection will be saved for all eternity. These doctrines have robbed God of His glory and have resulted in Catholics showing greater devotion to Mary than to the Lord Jesus Christ.
In the Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, Dr. Ludwig Ott states, “In the power of the grace of Redemption merited by Christ, Mary, by her spiritual entering into the sacrifice of her Divine Son for men, made atonement for the sins of men, and … merited the application of the redemptive grace of Christ. In this manner she co-operates in the subjective redemption of mankind” (page 213). Here the Catholic Church is claiming that Mary, not Jesus, made atonement for the sins of men! This is pure blasphemy!
In 1854, Pope Pius IX established the immaculate conception of Mary as an infallible dogma, which states Mary was preserved from inheriting original sin. The dogma encourages Catholics: “to venerate, invoke and pray to the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, conceived without original sin. And since she has been appointed by God to be the Queen of heaven and earth, and is exalted above all the choirs of angels and saints, and even stands at the right hand of her only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, she presents our petitions in a most efficacious manner. What she asks, she obtains. Her pleas can never be unheard.”
This heretical dogma has established Mary as a co-redeemer with Christ and co-mediator with Him in heaven, which makes her an another way to approach God. She replaces the Holy Spirit in bestowing aid and comfort to believers. In effect, she becomes an additional member of the Trinity. Mary is no more the mother of God than Joseph is the father of Jesus. Scripture has very little to say about Mary. When she appears with the other believers on the day of Pentecost, she’s not an object of worship or even a leader in the early church. There are no occasions of anyone ever praying to her, honoring her, or venerating her. She is never mentioned in any presentation of the Gospel. Jesus Christ alone is our Redeemer, Deliverer, Mediator and Advocate. He alone is to be worshiped, adored, honored and praised now and throughout all eternity! May Catholics comes to their senses through repentance and faith in the only sinless Mediator!

MARYAM ROSTAMPOUR & MARZIYEH AMIRIZADEH

Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh were born into Muslim families in Iran. They both became Christians as young adults and met while studying theology in Turkey in 2005. Deciding to work together, they returned to Iran and began sharing their faith. In 2009, Maryam and Marziyeh were arrested in Tehran for promoting Christianity—a capital crime in Iran. The official charges against them were apostasy, anti-government activity, and blasphemy, for which they were sentenced to execution by hanging. They spent 259 days in Evin, perhaps the world’s most notorious prison, as many around the world prayed for their release. Following international pressure and after months of interrogation and abuse, they were freed in November 2009 and subsequently cleared of all charges. They now live in the United States.

Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh knew they were putting their lives on the line. Though Islamic laws in Iran forbade them from sharing their Christian beliefs, in three years they’d covertly put New Testaments into the hands of twenty thousand of their countrymen. They’d started two secret house churches, including one for prostitutes—many of them women who had been abandoned by their husbands and had no other way to support themselves and their children. Maryam and Marziyeh had almost been caught many times…it seemed like divine intervention when they were not.

But finally—perhaps inevitably—in 2009, the two young women were arrested and held in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran, a place where inmates are routinely tortured, and executions are swift and sudden. But in the face of chilling interrogations and intimidation, and despite a death sentence, something remarkable happened: Instead of succumbing to fear, they chose to take the radical—and dangerous—step of sharing their faith inside the very walls of the government stronghold that was meant to silence them.
In Captive in Iran, Maryam and Marziyeh recount how God used their 259 days in Evin Prison to bring about a miraculous reversal: shining light into one of the world’s darkest places, giving hope to those who had lost everything, and showing love to those in despair.

Two women imprisoned for their Christian faith in Iran, Maryam and Marziyeh recount their 259 days in Evin—Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh—this hell on earth was a place of unlikely grace as they reflected God’s love and compassion to their fellow prisoners and guards. Against all odds, Evin would become the only church many of them had ever known.

KENTUCKY PARENT FILES COMMON CORE LAWSUIT~SEEKS INJUNCTION

David Adams, a parent from Nicholasville, KY, filed a lawsuit against the Governor Steve Beshear, Senate President Robert Stivers, the Kentucky Board of Education, Council on Postsecondary Education and Lawrence County Board of Education for “for declaratory and injunctive relief relating to Defendants’ acceptance of Common Core State Standards.”
As reported by Truth in American Education at:
http://truthinamericaneducation.com/common-core-state-standards/kentucky-parent-files-common-core-lawsuit/, below is the complete unedited lawsuit as reported:

Plaintiff, David Adams, for his Complaint against Defendants, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, acting through the Office of the Governor (“Governor”), and Governor Steve Beshear, in his official capacity as Governor of the Commonwealth, Senate President Robert Stivers, in his official capacity as President of the Senate, Roger L. Marcum, in his official capacity as Chairman of the Kentucky Board of Education, Robert L. King, in his official capacity as President of the Council on Postsecondary Education and Cassandra Webb, in her official capacity as chairwoman of the Education Professional Standards Board respectfully states as follows:
I. NATURE OF ACTION
1.  This is a civil action for declaratory and injunctive relief relating to Defendants’ acceptance of Common Core State Standards. Plaintiff seeks injunctive relief in the form of a court order reversing Defendants’ illegal acceptance of Common Core State Standards and forbidding any continued action relating to same until such time as specific legislative approval is granted.
2.  Time is of the essence in resolving this issue because substantial public resources have been and are currently being devoted to implementation of Common Core despite a clear constitutional mandate intended to provide for an efficient system of common schools. Continued delay in limiting the state officials’ activities in this matter to within the scope of Kentucky law and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky sets a terrible precedent for ignoring constitutional  limits on executive and legislative branch authority to protect Kentuckians’ rights to seek and pursue their safety and happiness as explicitly guaranteed by the Kentucky Constitution.
3.  The judicial branch of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is the only remaining venue for redress available to Plaintiff.
4.  As a result of the actions of Defendants, Plaintiff respectfully seeks a temporary and permanent injunction against Defendants’ continued implementation of Common Core until such time as the General Assembly provides appropriate legislation to restore constitutionally mandated efficiency to the Commonwealth’s system of common schools.
II.  THE PARTIES
5.  David Adams is a taxpayer and citizen of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and parent of two students in Jessamine County Schools.
6. Governor Steve Beshear is sued in his official capacity as Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
7. Senate President Robert Stivers is sued in his official capacity as Senate President of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and a member of the Executive Branch of government pursuant to Section 85 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
8. Roger L. Marcum is sued in his official capacity as Chairman of the Kentucky Board of Education.
9. Robert L. King is sued in his official capacity as President of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
10. Cassandra Webb is sued in her official capacity as Chairwoman of the Education Professional Standards Board.
III. JURISDICTION
11. Jurisdiction is proper pursuant to KRS 418.040 and Kentucky Constitution Section 112 (5).
IV. FACTUAL ALLEGATIONS AND BACKGROUND
A. Common Core State Standards
12. On February 10, 2010, Defendants announced acceptance of Common Core State Standards despite the fact the standards had not yet been written. Subsequent obligations of the Commonwealth related to Common Core could not be known then and still cannot in order to reasonably determine the efficacy for their implementation.
  13. The Constitution of the Commonwealth, in Section 183, places responsibility for providing an efficient system of common schools upon the legislature. The Kentucky Supreme Court clarified this to mean “common schools shall be monitored by the General Assembly to assure they are operated without waste, duplication, mismanagement or political influence.” Rose v. Council for Better Education, Inc. (Ky. 1989) 790 S.W.2d 186. By failing to intervene when Defendants obligated Kentuckians to unspecified mandates, duties, responsibilities and costs related to Common Core, the General Assembly violated Section 183.
V. CLAIMS FOR RELIEF
14. Plaintiff seeks declaratory relief pursuant to KRS 418.040. Plaintiff seeks a judicial determination of the rights and duties of the parties with regard to an actual controversy arising out of Defendants’ acceptance of Common Core State Standards without sufficient knowledge or understanding of the costs of such action in violation of state law.
15. David Adams seeks injunctive relief relating to Defendants’ illegal acceptance and implementation of Common Core State Standards, namely reversal of such acceptance and implementation until such time as the General Assembly grants approval of same by appropriate legislation.
VI. PRAYER FOR RELIEF
WHEREFORE, Plaintiff prays for relief as follows:
1. Plaintiff requests the court enter a judgment declaring the legislature erred in failing to prevent acceptance and implementation of Common Core State Standards by Defendants and that such acceptance must be rescinded and that such implementation must cease and be reversed until such time as the General Assembly makes a determination by appropriate legislation specifically regarding efficiency in the Commonwealth’s system of common schools pertaining to standards, curriculum, best practices and testing.

Hotel Profiting from “Room-Service Abortions” in Albuquerque
Late-Term Abortion Capital of the US” to face historic late-term abortion ban Tuesday

“Arlington VA — The pro-life organization has released a second investigative video, highlighting what Live Action President Lila Rose has coined “room-service abortions” — and the hotels that profit off such sinister arrangements.
The new undercover recording released by Live Action features an investigator attempting to schedule a 25-week (six-plus-month) abortion appointment with Southwestern Women’s Options, Albuquerque’s notorious late-term facility. After specifying that the late-term abortion comprises a “week-long procedure,” the staffer directs the investigator to the Plaza Inn — “a hotel that we work in conjunction with” — which offers room rate discounts and free transportation to and from all appointments.
Voters in Albuquerque, New Mexico will go to the polls this coming Tuesday, November 19, to vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks’ gestation. Research shows that children in the womb are able to feel pain at this point in their development, if not sooner.
“Albuquerque residents going to the polls on Tuesday need to be really clear about what’s going on here,” Rose said. “Albuquerque is the late-term abortion capital of the world. We see late-term abortionists doing ‘fly-ins’ to perform these procedures — dangerous for mothers, fatal for children — and local hotels providing free shuttle service to and from the rooms where many of these women get holed up to finish out the gruesome destruction of their babies.”
The Live Action video, titled “Room-Service Abortions in Albuquerque,” shows definitively that the Plaza Inn is cooperating with Southwestern Women’s Options abortionists to enhance revenues for both businesses.
“The Plaza Inn,” Rose elaborated, “is more than willing to give discounts and free transportation to mothers about to have their children poisoned to death and torn apart. But you’ll notice that the hotel refuses to transport these women to the abortion facility at the most dangerous point of the procedure — in the middle of the night, when they might be in labor, delivering a dead baby over the toilet. How many other hotels — in Albuquerque, and across the nation — are profiting from these gruesome procedures? How many are offering discounts for death?”
In the undercover recording, the Plaza Inn staffer admits that under such circumstances, “you guys [SWO patients] actually transport yourselves[.] … I think you wind up going to the hospital[.]”
Live Action reports releasing this second video to show voters the stakes on Tuesday. “It’s already horrifying,” Rose said, “that Albuquerque has a traveling circus of doctors who fly in and massacre late-term, viable, pain-capable babies. And now we know that ‘cottage industries’ are springing up to aid and abet these people in their multi-thousand-dollar child-killing business.”
Rose implored voters to defy the well-funded pro-abortion organizations dumping money into the city. “Groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL may not be saying much about this vote, but that’s because late-term abortion doesn’t poll well. It never has. But they’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to preserve this barbaric business. I pray that voters strongly reject keeping Albuquerque a hub of human rights abuses on Tuesday.”
According to its website, the Plaza Inn, which boasts “the Best in Southwestern Hospitality,” is associated with three other hotels in the region: the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Colton/Riverside, CA; the Holiday Inn Express in Barstow, CA; and the Palmdale Hotel & Resort in Palmdale, CA.

against the vulnerable and defenseless. More information at LiveAction.org.

SLEEZY ADS FOR OBAMACARE PROMOTE PROMISCUITY

“A sexually suggestive ad supporting ObamaCare has left plenty of Americans disturbed. The ad, released by the Thanks ObamaCare campaign (who is partnered with ProgressNow Colorado Education and the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative), has been railed at by multiple news outletsThis ad is a bad idea for many reasons. Among them – a rejection of a responsible lifestyle, a promotion of sex with anyone who qualifies as “hot,” a bare-minimum attempt at actually making the sex “safe,” and an objectification of women.”

NAZARENES SPREADING EVOLUTION LIES~REJECTING GOD’S WORD

Manny Silva reports:

Nazarenes Exploring Evolution: Spreading Evolution’s Lies, Rejecting God’s Word

“These men are dried-up springs, mere clouds driven by a storm. Gloomy darkness is reserved for them.”  2 Peter 2:17
Evolution is a farce.  It is unprovable.  It is at best a hypothesis, and not even rises to the level of a theory.  It is not based on the scientific method of provability.  And one
 of

its most amazing assumptions, that some living things amazingly transitioned to a totally different living thing (such as fish to mammal), does not have one shred of evidence and has never been observed to have happened.

Yet, it seems Nazarenes Exploring Evolution are trying their best to turn the Nazarene denomination into one that first and foremost holds to the false and unfounded teachings of the religion of evolution, while grudgingly letting faithful Bible-believers hold on their “silly” notion that the Bible does mean what it says when God explains creation in the book of Genesis.

The latest indication of a corrupted mind comes from a recent article written by Mark Maddix,Professor of Practical Theology and Discipleship at Northwest Nazarene University.  In an article titled “Evolutionary Theory and Moral Development”, he gives further proof that the Nazarene universities are a breeding ground for false teaching, and are a “great” place to send your child if you wish to have his or her faith shattered by the time the graduate.  Northwest Nazarene is clearly near the top of the list of the worst, along with Point Loma and the Nazarene Theological Seminary, yet we cannot recommend a single Nazarene university today that is holding true to biblical principles, and that has not fallen for the emergent ideology and the “spiritual formation” programs which are corrupting our youth.

Dr. Maddix is also known for his promotion of contemplative spirituality (the true name of spiritual formation).  At General Assembly this year, he led a presentation which ended up promoting the usual forms of contemplative spirituality that has so infected practically all Christian universities today.  When I stood up to challenge him on his premise that Roman Catholics believe the same way we do, we could tell that he was not only steadfastly defending that position, but that he and his colleague were wrong on the side of history, claiming that the Bible came from the Roman Catholic Church.  These are the kinds of dangerous things being allowed by the General Superintendents and the board of directors at these schools.

In his article, Maddix says this:
“Growing up in a Christian home, evolution was only referred with negative connotations. I was taught that evolution was an atheistic theory which undermined the authority of Scripture in general and specifically Genesis 1 and 2.”
So in his early years, he was taught the right thing.  Evolution is an atheistic theory, it has never been close to being proved and cannot be proved with any facts whatsoever.  So what made Dr. Maddix change his mind?  Was it compelling evidence from Holy Scripture?  Sadly, no.  His authority is not the Bible, as is evident now.
He goes on to say that when he went to a Christian university, that is where he changed his mind. He was persuaded, not by God’s word, but by the words of a professor.  He believed the professor who said that “the author of Genesis, probably not Moses, (that created another anxiety) had no understanding of modern science and was writing to show God’s relationship with God’s creation.”  So then Maddix explains that “His explanation changed the course of my understanding of the creation-evolution debate and helped me understand Genesis 1 and 2 as theological not scientific.”
He then goes on to tell how he subsequently became confused by a young earth creationist’s explanation of our origins.  He then stayed confused until a biology professor “affirmed his belief in evolution by stating that Darwin’s theory was the best way to explain how God created the universe.”  He accepted the professor’s explanation that “”Believing in evolution does not reject Scripture, since Scripture was not written for such purposes.”  Dr. Maddix goes on the state that “My Christian liberal arts education provided me with a clearer understanding of a Wesleyan view of Scripture, particularly as it related to the creation accounts and a view of creation that could include In his article, Maddix says this:

Thus he bought into the lie, and thus that is where he is now.
You must read on through his entire article in order to
understand the kind of thinking that is causing great harm to Christian students in our universities.   A other quote by Dr. Maddix:
“In my search for understanding how persons grow and develop morality, I first asked whether humans are born with the capacity to know what is right or wrong (nature), or is morality shaped primary by our environments (nurture).”
He is searching for answers, but he seems to not search in the right place.  His search for understanding can only fully be fully arrived at in the pages of the “great book” as John Wesley called it.  As he and others distort the history of John Wesley for their purposes, they forget that John Wesley believed entirely in the complete inspiration of Scripture, and that it has no error whatsoever.  And therein lies the problem.  They do NOT believe that the Bible is God’s word. They pick and choose and decide for themselves what the Bible says, not what it really says.
Dr. Maddix concludes:

“Evolutionary ethics does not contradict a Biblical view of human persons.

Instead it provides a scientific explanation for how God created humans with the capacity to be moral, and through our environments, we grow and develop morally.”

How truly sad.  How pathetically sad.  Yet he will answer to God for the damage he is causing.  But Dr Maddix is not alone; he is but one example of the many members of Nazarenes Exploring Evolution who are causing great harm today.  One is a former professor of mine in Greek New Testament.  Another is Tom Oord, also from NNU, who also promotes such false teachings as process theology and open theism.  Another is Dr. Dan Boone, president of Trevecca Nazarene University, one of the most dangerous and influential men in the denomination today.
It is a long list of “learned men and women” who cannot seem to accept the plain taught facts of Scripture.

As I wrote in a previous article:

Believing in evolution means you must accept that, among other things:

-Adam and Eve were not real historical figures as described in Genesis;

-Jesus was not truthful when he talked about Adam and Eve in a historical context;

-You reject God’s account in Genesis that He created everything in six days;

-You reject the truthfulness of the genealogical account of the Lord in Matthew, which includes Adam;

-The account of the first 11 chapters of Genesis is only allegory;

-You accept that death came into the world many years before any Adam and Eve, contradicting Romans 5:12 and its explanation of how sin and death came into the world;

-You pick and choose what you want to believe, instead of accepting God’s historical account at face value;

-You choose to use your own intellect and human reasoning and philosophy to validate the Bible, instead of letting the Bible validate itself;

-You reject the inerrancy and reliability of Scripture as the sole and final written authority for our faith and practice, and instead accept that the Bible has errors and is written deceptively.

Quoting a friend who recently commented on Maddix’s article: “What was it someone said to Paul, “Great learning has driven you mad.” This fellow, like many in our universities, has had Christianity educated out of them.  So sad.”
Well, we know that Paul certainly was not mad, as he was clearly preaching and teaching the truth. He himself claimed that the words that came from him were “not man’s word, but God’s words.” Dr. Maddix and his friends do not believe the Bible is God’s inerrant word, and until they accept God’s word for what it teaches, they will be lost like a ship in the storm.

TWO MILITARY CHAPLAINS RIDICULED & HARASSED FOR QUOTING SCRIPTURE~FILE FEDERAL LAWSUIT

Veterans And Baptist Chaplains Not Brothers In Faith?:

Published on Nov 11, 2013 on YouTube channel VideoMedia:
Two Baptist chaplains said they were forced out of a Veterans Affairs chaplain training program after they refused orders to stop quoting the Bible and to stop praying in the name of Jesus.

When the men objected to those demands, they were subjected to ridicule and harassment that led to one of the chaplains leaving the program and the other being ejected, according to a federal lawsuit filed Friday.

The Conservative Baptist Association of America is suing Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki; the group’s suit alleges two of its chaplains were openly ridiculed by the leader of the San Diego-based VA-DOD Clinical Pastoral Education Center program. ‘Not only was the treatment these men received inappropriate, it was also a violation of federal law and the religious freedom guarantees of the First Amendment.’

– Attorney John Wells

“Not only was the treatment these men received inappropriate, it was also a violation of federal law and the religious freedom guarantees of the First Amendment,” said John Wells, an attorney representing the Colorado-based denomination.

“No American choosing to serve in the armed forces should be openly ridiculed for his Christian faith,” he said, calling it one of the most blatant cases of religious discrimination he has ever seen.

Lt. Commander Dan Klender, a Navy chaplain, and Maj. Steven Firtko, a retired Army chaplain, had enrolled in the VA’s Clinical Pastoral Education Center program in San Diego last year.

The one-year training program is required for anyone wanting to work as a chaplain in a VA hospital. VA chaplains differ from other military chaplains in that they are limited to working in VA hospitals.

The program, which has affiliates around the nation, is open to chaplains of all religious faiths. However, applicants must have completed master-level seminary work.

There were seven chaplains enrolled in the San Diego program led by Nancy Dietsch, a Department of Veterans Affairs employee with a history of antagonistic behavior toward evangelicals, Wells said.

“She’s been very, very critical of Christians,” Wells said in a telephone interview. “Instead of teaching anything dealing with faith issues, she’s dealing with a holistic, humanistic approach. It’s the idea that the spirit comes from within.”

The VA did not return telephone calls, but they did release a statement to NBC San Diego. The VA said the two men were “bullying other classmates and refusing to honor other faith groups.”

Wells said the chaplains were subjected to anti-Christian bigotry.

“And that would be putting it mildly,” he said. “A lot of these so-called liberals are very liberal with their own ideas, but when it comes to somebody else’s ideas, they don’t want to hear it.

Among the allegations listed in the lawsuit:

1. Dietsch told the chaplains that it was the policy of the VA in general and her in particular that chaplains should not pray in the name of Jesus.

2. During a classroom discussion on faith, Firtko said “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Dietsch told the chaplain he was not allowed to quote from the Bible in her classroom.

3. In October 2012, Dietsch told the class she believes God could be either man or woman. When Firtko referred to “The Lord’s Prayer,” she “angrily pounded her fist on the table and shouted, ‘Do not quote Scripture in this class.'”

4. In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook school shooting, Klender mentioned during a group discussion on counseling that he would tell a parent that “there is evil in the world.” Dietsch retorted, “You don’t actually believe that do you?”

5. In January 2013, she told the chaplains “there is no room in the program for those who believe they are right and everybody else is wrong.”

6. Later that month she told students that there are many ways to heaven and that one religion cannot be right, while others are wrong. Firtko objected to that statement by quoting Jesus who said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” Dietsch told him to stop quoting from the Bible, then stated, “If you believe your beliefs are right, and everyone else’s is wrong, you do not belong in this program.”

The harassment had become so bad by February that Klender withdrew from the program. A week later, Firtko received a letter notifying him that he’d been dismissed from the program.

In July, the pair filed a formal complaint against Dietsch for religious discrimination and violating the Association of Pastoral Continuing Education Standards.

Attorney Wells said it appears the government is trying to establish “a secular humanist-based religion free from any influence of Christian dogma.”

“The most egregious part is the VA supervisor told two chaplains that they were not allowed to pray in the name of Jesus and they could not quote Scripture,” he said.

Lashes For Christians In Iran:

Published on Oct 27, 2013 on YouTube channel of VideoMedia:

Four Iranian Christians were reportedly sentenced to 80 lashes for drinking wine for communion, a shocking punishment meted out even as a new United Nations report blasted the Islamic republic for its systematic persecution of non-Muslims.

The four men were sentenced Oct. 6 after being arrested in a house church last December and charged with consuming alcohol in violation of the theocracy’s strict laws, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide. They were among several Christians punished for their faith in a nation where converting from Islam to Christianity can bring the death penalty. According to a new October UN report by Ahmed Shaheed, UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, such persecution is common, despite new President Hasan Rouhani’s pledge to be a moderate.

“At least 20 Christians were in custody in July 2013,” Shaheed wrote. “In addition, violations of the rights of Christians, particularly those belonging to evangelical Protestant groups, many of whom are converts, who proselytize to and serve Iranian Christians of Muslim background, continue to be reported.” “If the regime thinks that its international charm offensive will help whitewash its appalling human rights record as documented by the UN report, they are sorely mistaken.”

– Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee

Iran’s regime has made stopping the spread of Christianity a cornerstone of its crackdown on religious freedom. There are estimated to be as many as 370,000 Christians in Iran, according to the most recent U.S. State Department report. The clerical rulers see Christianity as a threat to Iran’s majority ultra-orthodox Shiite Islamic religion.

“Despite the recent Iranian charm offensive, Dr. Shaheed’s report reminds us of the true nature of the Iranian regime where the abuse of human rights continue,” Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), chairman and founder of the Iran Dissident Awareness Program, told FoxNews.com. “Political prisoners like blogger Mohammad Reza Pourshajari are being denied adequate medical care, journalists and their families continue to be targets of the regime, Pastor Saeed Abedini and Amir Hekmati are still languishing in prison and the Baha’i community faces increasing persecution. This is the true nature of the regime we’re dealing with during negotiations in Geneva.”

Alireza Miryousefi,a spokesman for Iran’s mission to the UN, did not respond to requests for comment, but Iran’s government blasted Dr. Shaheed’s report as not objective. According to Iran’s state-controlled news outlet Press TV, an Iranian official from the UN mission said Shaheed “has not paid sufficient notice to Iran’s legal system and Islamic culture and considers whatever he sees in the West as an international standard for the entire world.”

Shaheed is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading authorities on human rights. He served as the minister of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.

“It should be no surprise that Iran’s human rights record as documented by the UN is nothing short of atrocious,” Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told FoxNews.com. “If the regime thinks that its international charm offensive will help whitewash its appalling human rights record as documented by the UN report, they are sorely mistaken.”

The UN reported noted Iran’s “Authorities continue to compel licensed Protestant churches to restrict Persian-speaking and Muslim-born Iranians from participating in services, and raids and forced closures of house churches are ongoing…More than 300 Christians have been arrested since 2010, and dozens of church leaders and active community members have reportedly been convicted of national security crimes in connection with church activities, such as organizing prayer groups, proselytizing and attending Christian seminars abroad. “

On Monday, a retired California pastor, Eddie Romero, managed to sneak into Iran to demand the release of imprisoned Iranian Christians. Pastor Romero protested in front of Iran’s notorious Evin prison, declaring “Let my people go.” Prison officials detained Romero and he was sent back to the U.S. Romero sought to shine a spotlight on the plight of imprisoned Christian Iranians, including Farshid Fathi, the American-Iranian pastor Saeed Abedini, Mostafa Bordbar, and Alireza Seyyedian.

The four Christian Iranians sentenced to 80 lashes for violating Iran’s anti-alcohol law have ten days to appeal their verdict.

“The sentences handed down to these members of the Church of Iran effectively criminalize the Christian sacrament of sharing in the Lord’s Supper and constitute an unacceptable infringement on the right to practice faith freely and peaceably,” Mervyn Thomas, chief executive of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, said.

REASONS TO AVOID PALAU & HIS MINISTRY:

Luis Palau Exposed:

From John Beardsley’s “Biblical Discernment Ministries”:
reprinted in full below, unedited:
Luis Palau’s General Teachings/Activities:
–  Luis Palau (pronounced pahl-OW), is an Argentinean-born (1934, to Roman Catholic parents) international evangelistic preacher with immense popularity in South and Central America. He claims to have been born-again at age 12, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960. Palau is the author of 44 books and booklets, and has written more than 100 articles published in CharismaChristian HeraldChristian Parenting TodayChristian ReaderChristianity TodayDecisionDiscipleship JournalFocus on the Family,MoodyThe Plain TruthPursuitWorldWorld VisionWorldwide Challenge, and many other periodicals. He has been pegged by some to replace the ecumenical Billy Grahamas the United States’ pre-eminent evangelist; “the Billy Graham of everywhere” says The Wall Street Journal. (This, of course, was prior to the 11/95 appointment of Graham’s son, Franklin, to replace the retiring Billy.) Palau models his ministry and organization after Graham, being influenced by Graham since 1962, when he served as a translator at a Graham crusade in California. Graham gave Palau money to start his own organization in 1978, the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association (LPEA). Palau raises money for his stadium crusades like Graham also — the responsibility falls upon sponsoring local churches.

–  Palau is a graduate and member of the Trustee Board at the neo-evangelical/psychologically-oriented Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon (now Multnomah Biblical Seminary). He is commonly called “the Billy Graham of South America.” The title is fitting, for he has followed Graham’s new evangelical policies in his crusades and has been willing to join hands with liberals, charismatics, and Roman Catholics. His ministry has not been confined to South America, however. He has had crusades in such diverse places as Aberdeen, Scotland; New Zealand; Managua, Nicaragua; and Peoria, Illinois (New Neutralism II, p. 67).

–  Since Palau’s first crusade in 1966, an estimated 14 million people in 69 nations have attended 414 of Palau’s cross-denominational crusades and rallies (now termed “Festivals”) — he has preached on every continent except Antarctica, and was the first evangelist to hold stadium evangelistic meetings in the Soviet Union (1989). In addition, tens of millions more have been exposed to the Palau message through radio and TV broadcasts in 104 nations. His radio programs are broadcast each weekday on more than 500 stations in North, South, and Central America (200 in the U.S.). Palau often purchases television time in cities where he plans stadium crusades, airing a live call-in program called Night Talk with Luis Palau (carried by two national cable networks — the National Empowerment Television Network and the Inspirational Network). Viewers call to discuss their spiritual, family, and other concerns. Palau claims to explain the basic Gospel and prays with those who want to trust Jesus Christ. The national program also features taped segments of live TV programs from Palau’s U.S. crusades. [Palau now airs two distinct radio programs — Luis Palau Responde and Cruzada, Spanish radio programs broadcast on more than 500 stations throughout Latin America and the United States; and Reaching Your World with Luis Palau, a two-minute daily radio program, which went on the air 1/31/00, broadcast on more than 530 stations in the English-speaking world.] (Source: LPEA Internet web site, 8/27/01.)

The Luis Palau Evangelistic Association (LPEA), his Portland, Oregon based non-profit organization, cites more than 757,000 “known public decisions for Jesus Christ” as a result of the crusades, while tens of thousands more have supposedly made life-changing decisions for Christ as a result of LPEA’s broad range of ministries. The LPEA has an annual budget of more than $4 million and 80 full- and part-time employees. In 1995, the operation moved into a $1.3 million complex in Beaverton, Oregon, a Portland suburb. The new building includes a television studio in addition to radio rooms. Palau has dreams of becoming a “Christian-based alternative to ‘Geraldo’ and ‘Oprah.’ I want to go nose to nose with the talk shows” (Martha Irvine: 10/13/95, Associated Press story).

–  What kind of gospel is preached at a typical Palau’ crusade? Palau conducted a “festival” in Waterbury, Connecticut on 4/29/01. In an interview with Ed Flynn of “Talk of the Town” on radio station 1320 AM, on April 24, promoters of the Palau festival said that the evangelist is “a uniter, not a divider,” that he is nondenominational and sends his converts “right back to the churches they come from.”

On 10/1/93, WGN-TV superstation out of Chicago aired a tape of Palau’s message from his Phoenix Crusade held at the America West Arena the end of October of 1992. [Jerry Colangelo, the president and CEO of the Phoenix Suns professional basketball team, was the Crusade Chairman.] Palau’s message was titled, “Hope for the Stressed-Out.”

Palau’s message was peppered with “the Bible says” this/”the Bible says” that, but Palau never quoted a Bible passage. For example: “The Bible says the Lord saves us from the pit — the pit of despair, the pit of low self-esteem … the Bible says He redeems your life from the pit.” Palau, of course, didn’t give the passage from the Bible to document that the Bible actually says God saves us from low self-esteem — probably because there is no such passage. (Chuck SwindollJosh McDowellR.C. Sproul, Clyde Narramore, andother “Christian” psychologizers say the Lord saves us from low self-esteem, but the Bible certainly doesn’t say that. The salvation of sinners depends upon the convicting power of the Holy Spirit to show sinners that they are lost and guilty before God, so that they might repent and place their trust in Christ for salvation. What does this have to do with helping the sinner enjoy feelings of greater self-esteem?)

The serious error in Palau’s so-called gospel message was further illustrated in the Phoenix crusade video. The Phoenix message was interrupted with cut-outs to a call-in television show Palau had done earlier in 1992. One caller, a homosexual with AIDS from San Antonio, was “led to the Lord” by Palau via the repetition of an easy-believism, decisional regeneration type of prayer so common in today’s crusade evangelism. Nowhere in the prayer was there the acknowledgement that the man’s homosexuality was sin (although Palau told the caller that he had “failed” the God who “loved and died for him”).

–  Scholars have observed that although evangelists traditionally preached about hell-fire and brimstone, they began avoiding the topic entirely in the 1960s and ’70s, concentrating instead on the love of God rather than risk of offending the populace. Adhering to this trend, Palau says he will emphasize God’s forgiveness: “I think that’s where I’m gearing my message,” he said. “I think there’s a great sense of guilt in America. People want to know if they’re going to heaven, an implicit acknowledgment that there’s a less desirable alternative than paradise. There is no need to call Americans sinners. They know it already.” (Emphasis added.) (4/17/96, Chicago Tribune). [In a 6/6/01 interview with Religion Today, Palau confirms his position: “While he does not emphasize hell in his preaching ‘to excess,’ says Palau, ‘I do bring it in as a warning — not as a major but as a minor emphasis.'”]

So not to offend with the gospel, Palau is, in effect, saying that he preaches a watered-down gospel that is no gospel at all. For example, in 1995, Palau preached to an estimated 26,000 in four meetings in Kathmandu, Nepal. Since proselytization is illegal in Nepal, Palau encouraged Nepalis to “fall in love with Jesus,” instead of urging them to renounce Hinduism. This, of course, is not the Gospel of Christ. And what about the other gods the Hindus worship? They would gladly add Jesus to their thousands of other gods. They might even make Him their chief god, but not the only God (10/95, O Timothy). [Responding to BDM’s criticism of Palau’s “watered-down gospel,” Palau responds in a 6/6/01 interview with Religion Today, “Almost 80 percent of my preaching comes from the Bible. The other 20 percent is cultural, historic and psychological. I try to position and think, ‘Where is my audience coming from?'”]

–  Many times the best indicator of the “Biblical quality” of a ministry is the “quality” of those endorsing it. A Palau brochure received by BDM in 12/93 had a section entitled “What Others Are Saying.” It included glowing endorsements from the ecumenical Billy Graham; charismatic demon-deliverer Evelyn Christenson; liberal charismatic preacher E.V. Hill; hyper-charismatic Jack Hayford; and Catholic sympathizer and New Age religionist Chuck Colson. [In a separate piece of literature, Joseph Stowell, president of Moody Bible Institute, endorsed Palau’s 8-week Chicago Crusade scheduled for April-May, 1996 (see below).]

BDM also received a book from the LPEA titled Say Yes!: How To Renew Your Spiritual Passion (Multnomah Press, 1991, 168 ppgs.). In addition to Graham, Hayford, and Colson endorsing the book, other endorsers were modernist John Stott; Campus Crusade‘s ecumenical leader Bill Bright; Dallas Seminary’s neo-evangelical psychologizerHoward Hendricks; ecumenical social activist D. James Kennedy; the then director of the neo-evangelical National Religious Broadcasters, E. Brandt Gustavson; and financial psychobabbler Ron Blue. [Additionally, on 12/2/93, TBN aired a tape of a Palau’ message from his 10/16/93-10/24/93 Greater Ft. Worth Crusade held at the Tarrant County Convention Center. Giving testimonial endorsements prior to Palau’s message were ex-Dallas Cowboy football coach, Tom Landry, and self-love psychologizer and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar.]

Also, Palau’s web site lists endorsers of his ministry: Billy Graham, Chuck Colson, Jack Hayford, Joni Eareckson Tada, Joseph Stowell, and the Archbishop of Canterbury (Angelican).

Of all the endorsers of Palau and his ministry, we could not find a single endorsement by anyone even remotely considered to be an evangelical, Biblical fundamentalist!

–  Palau says the fight against violence and hopelessness in America must be fought with more contemporary weapons. So he incorporates some modern devices into his crusades. Christian rap music replaces the traditional hymns at many events, and big-screen video shots of sporting events are used to attract younger audiences. Palau says, “I think we need to adapt rather than fight it. I’m sure somebody is called to fight it, but my attitude is rather than fight it, exploit it.” Palau also quietly accepts the MTV cartoon characters, Beavis and Butt-head — “Those two guys … you can scream all you like, but they’re here to stay, those two,” showing a sort of respect for the cartoon delinquents on MTV (10/93 Associated Press report, printed in the Bloomington, Indiana, 10/23/93, The Herald-Times).

An example of Palau’s contemporary techniques would be his 1992 Phoenix Crusade (which drew about 72,000 total over the five days of meetings). On the last day of the crusade, the “Christian” rap group DC Talk performed to about 16,000 of all ages amid roving colored lights and man-made fog. (See the 6/96, Christian Conscience for areview of a DC Talk concert — article by John Beardsley, pp. 54-58.) Palau sandwiched himself in the middle of the afternoon’s festivities with a short message and an invitation. About 700 came forward before the rapping resumed. In his messages throughout the week, Palau frequently used humor and made references to such popular figures as Madonna and Elizabeth Taylor. He said he wants to present the Christian message “positively” and to show people he’s not a “ranting, raving preacher.” In one message he talked of heaven, but noted that many preachers dwell too much on hell (11/2/92, The Arizona Republic).

–  Palau’s 8-week “Say Yes, Chicago” Crusade was held over a 57-day period in April-May, 1996, and featured more than 70 events in a variety of metropolitan-area venues, including the Rosemont Horizon, the UIC Pavilion, and Soldier Field. Palau staffers and a 150-member executive committee of local clergy and laity raised $2.3 million and enlisted 1,700 churches from Kenosha to Kankakee and DeKalb, as well as from the city and suburbs. The official Palau Chicago campaign brochure lists churches of many denominations: Presbyterian, Lutheran, Assemblies of God, Evangelical Free, Nazarene, Episcopal, and Christian. Rock musicians performed. Individual Catholic priests were involved in leadership roles. One of the sponsoring churches was church growth guru Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church. Ecumenical speakers included Tony Evans, E.V. Hill, Raleigh Washington, Joseph Stowell, Erwin Lutzer, and Rabi Maharaj. The attendance goal was set at 500,000; 15,000 people were given a two-hour training course on how to share their faith with friends and neighbors. The schedule included a nightly call-in TV show, special breakfasts and luncheons, and women’s, children’s, and youth events.

Palau claims to have preached the gospel to 129,000 people at 75 events throughout greater Chicago, and to have bagged 9,460 new Christians during the two-month campaign (of which 44% were “first-time commitments”). Palau also presented his version of the gospel through 27 one-hour television programs on four Chicago stations, originating in the studios of WCFC-TV38, and as a result, claimed more than 650 callers “indicated they prayed with Luis or with counselors, committing their lives to Christ.” (Source: LPEA Internet web site, 8/27/01.)

–  From 1/1/80-1/4/80, a “Methodist Congress on Evangelism” was held at Oral Roberts University. Palau appeared with Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Dr. Charles Allen of the First United Methodist Church of Houston, and several Methodist bishops. This is just an example to show that Palau is not adverse to cooperation with those still in the fellowship of apostate Methodism or those on the radical fringe of charismaticism. In addition, Palau’s 5/92 Peoria Crusade included cooperation with over 150 churches, many of them liberal, charismatic, and even some from John Wimber‘s radical Vineyard Christian Fellowship.

Palau’s evangelistic association is also affiliated with the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). Along with (apostate) comedian Steve Allen, Palau was a speaker at the 1987 convention of the National Religious Broadcasters, an arm of the NAE at the time. Despite these dubious connections, he has also been a speaker at Moody Bible Institute, Dallas Seminary’s “School of Evangelism,” and the 25th anniversary celebration of Talbot Seminary (New Neutralism II, pp. 67-68).

–  Promise Keepers is the gigantic new (1991) “men’s movement” among professing evangelical Christians. Its roots are Catholic and charismatic to the core. PK’s contradictory stand on homosexuality; its promotion of secular psychology; its unscriptural feminizing of men; its depiction of Jesus as a “phallic messiah” tempted to perform homosexual acts; and its ecumenical and unbiblical teachings should dissuade any true Christian from participating. Promise Keepers is proving to be one of the most ungodly and misleading movements in the annals of Christian history. Nevertheless, Palau is a promoter of this ecumenical, charismatic, psychologized men’s movement, as evidenced by his speaking at PK’s 1992 National Men’s Conference and at regional stadium rallies in 1995, 1996, and 2000, and by his authoring a chapter in two PK books (Go the Distanceand Seven Promises of a Promise Keeper). [Palau’s wife, Pat, also authored a chapter in two PK books (Promises! Promises! and The Joy of a Promise Kept) designed for the wives of Promise Keepers. Others authoring chapters in Promises! Promises! are the wives of Howard Hendricks, Gary Smalley, and John Trent.)]

–  Dr. Bill Jackson, president of the Association of Fundamentalists Evangelizing Catholics (AFEC), prepared a 6/18/99 statement on “The Gospel of Jesus Christ—An Evangelical Celebration” (EC) (see the 6/14/99 Christianity Today for the full text of the EC). This document has been endorsed by Charles Colson, Bill Bright, and J.I. Packer, all of whom also signed the controversial ECT documents of 1994 and 1997; as well as endorsed by R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur and D. James Kennedy, all of whom publicly [albeit weakly] challenged and criticized them for signing the ECT documents (see above). There are a number of helpful statements in this latest document which deal with areas which were not fully dealt with in the ECT documents (e.g., imputation is now dealt with favorably, but has been consistently opposed by Roman Catholic Councils and Catechisms). EC says, “We cannot embrace any form of doctrinal indifferentism by which God’s truth is sacrificed for a false peace.” But there is certainly no better example of “doctrinal indifferentism” than the ECT documents themselves (James 1:8)! Because ECT I stated that “Evangelicals and Catholics are brothers and sisters in Christ,” in order to be relevant the new EC document should be submitted to the Roman Catholics who signed ECT I and II. It is difficult to see how a person could subscribe to both ECT and EC. The only logical conclusion is for all who signed EC to remove their names from ECT. It also appears that the so-called “evangelical” ECT endorsers have been “let off the hook” by former critics such as R.C. Sproul. We believe EC will be used to rehabilitate those who erred in 1994 and 1997, without their having to admit or ask forgiveness for their error. (Source: 7/15/99, Calvary Contender.) [Other “evangelical” endorsers of EC among the 15 members of the Drafting Committee and 114 members of the Endorsing Committee include John Ankerberg, Kay Arthur, Tony Evans, Jerry Falwell, Bill Hybels, David Jeremiah, D. James Kennedy, Max LucadoWoodrow KrollTim & Beverly LaHaye,Erwin LutzerBill McCartneyLuis PalauPat Robertson, Ronald Sider, Charles Stanley, John Stott, Joseph Stowell, Chuck Swindoll, Bruce Wilkinson, and Ravi Zacharias; also endorsing EC were hyper-charismatics Jack Hayford and Steven Strang.]
However ignorant Palau and fellow endorsers may be of all this, his participation in EC makes him a party to its consequences. It is also important to note that the EC document (which is supposed to be a definitive and comprehensive statement of the true saving Gospel of Christ), never mentions repentance for salvation, and never mentions the total depravity of man (thereby leaning towards a decisional regeneration). Moreover, the EC promotes an ecumenical unity (via “trans-denominational cooperative enterprises”) with all professing believers who attest to the EC’s “essentials” of the faith. But this is not the unity of the faith taught in Ephesians. While we are instructed by Scripture to be of one mind, the evangelical today scoffs at the idea of true Biblical unity based on complete agreement with, and submission to, God’s holy Word. The only use of the word “unity” in the New Testament is found in Ephesians chapter four. It is a “unity of the Spirit” (v. 3), not of men. It is a “unity of faith” (v. 13) based on sound doctrine for which believers are to contend, not water down nor reclassify into essentials and non-essentials (Jude 3). No real spiritual unity can exist apart from doctrinal unity, and we are to “mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them” (Rom. 16:17).

–   Luis Palau was named as one of four Honorary Co-Chairmen of the A.D. 2000 Evangelism organization. (The other three were Billy Graham, Campus Crusade’s Bill Bright, and Kyun Chik Han of Korea. Paul Cedar of the Evangelical Free Church chaired the A.D. 2000 International Coalition of Christian Leaders, which is composed of 200 key leaders from various denominations, national, and local churches.) A.D. 2000 Evangelism is ecumenical, compromising to the core, and even has some New Agers in its ranks (e.g., Jay Gary and Robert Muller), yet many undiscerning or uninformed believers are supporting, praising, and participating in it. This unscriptural evangelism movement includes Roman Catholics, Orthodox, Charismatics, Pentecostals, and Protestants of all kinds. It is evident that many have not yet realized the impossibility of evangelizing the world when millions of those participating in that effort preach a false gospel. This makes the A.D. 2000 Evangelism program a curse, not a blessing.

According to the July-August 1993, Mission Frontiers Bulletin, “These International Coalition leaders share the vision of the A.D. 2000 and Beyond Movement. [“A church for every people and the Gospel for every person by A.D. 2000,” is their slogan.] They are ‘front line’ leaders, implementers, activists, equippers, and/or mobilizers in the ministry of world evangelization. Coalition members give leadership to the involvement of their own constituencies and share spiritual counsel with the various A.D. 2000 boards, committees and resource network leaders. They will seek to rally support and resources of all kinds to see the objectives of the movement fulfilled.” (Emphasis added.) Seeking “all kinds” of support simply means that they will utilize whatever group claims to be in agreement with their “objectives” of global evangelization. The problem with such an inclusivist policy, however, is that some of the groups whose support they are trying to enlist embrace many unbiblical beliefs and strange gospels (September-October 1993,Foundation magazine).

–  The  “Alpha Course” was devised by Holy Trinity Brompton, London, a large charismatic Anglican church. Anglican priest Nicky Gumbel began teaching it in 1990. It is now the largest evangelistic effort in Britain and has been taken up by the main denominations and spread to the U.S. and elsewhere. Luis Palau has endorsed it. Its philosophy is New Age, leading to experiences rooted in the occult. The Alpha Course, originally intended for new Christians, is now aimed at the unchurched. But at its core is a “watered-down” gospel. It is geared less to conversion than to seeking the spurious Toronto Blessing experience. (Source: 12/15/98, Calvary Contender).

–  Palau is a member of COR (Coalition on Revival), a Reconstructionist/Dominionist organization dedicated to a social gospel/activism agenda that proposes to impose Biblical standards (e.g., Old Testament law) on unbelieving peoples and institutions. Since Palau has signed COR’s Manifesto, it is interesting to read what the people affiliated with COR believe. The following is from a brochure announcing the 12th Annual Northwest Conference for Christian Reconstruction. Does this not sound like a different gospel? (emphases added):

“The Christian Reconstruction movement believes that the Bible contains not only a message of personal salvation through the blood of Christ shed on the cross, but also a comprehensive law structure which is alone able to provide a just basis for society. It is committed to the view that sovereignty and thus government belong to God, and that all delegated government, whether to family, church or state (civil government), is to be exercised in obedience to the law of God’s covenant. Furthermore, salvation involves every aspect of man’s life and thus also the relationships he sustains to the world around him. The exercise of dominion in accordance with the terms of God’s covenant is therefore basic and vital to the Christian faith. To neglect this is to deprecate the extent of Christ’s victory at Calvary.”

That Palau has no problem identifying with this movement is a bit disconcerting to say the least. (For details of COR’s unbiblical strategy for “taking the world for Christ,” see COR’ documents titled A Manifesto for the Christian ChurchForty-two Articles of the Essentials of a Christian World View, and Twenty-five Articles of Affirmation and Denial on the Kingdom of God. These three documents, along with COR’s 17 Sphere/World View Documents, make up what COR calls its “20 COR World View Documents.”)
–  Campus Crusade founder Bill Bright fasted 40 days during the summer of 1994, during which he claims to have received a “prophecy from God” that a mighty revival is coming. He then issued a call for hundreds of liberals, charismatics, and new-evangelicals to gather in Orlando 12/5/94-12/7/94 to fast and pray for revival. An Invitation Committee made up of a hodgepodge of 72 liberals, new evangelicals, and charismatics was formed. Included were: Robert Schuller, Charles Colson, E.V. Hill, Jack Hayford, James Dobson, W.A. Criswell, Charles Stanley, Paul Crouch, Luis Palau, Bill Gothard, Pat Robertson, Kay Arthur, and Larry Burkett. CCC’s Bill Bright cites “a great sense of urgency to link arms and unitedly call upon God for help in the spirit of King Jehoshaphat (2 Chr. 20).” This ecumenical “linking” is in the “spirit of Jehoshaphat” indeed, but the Jehoshaphat of 2 Chr. 18 (instead of 2 Chr. 20) where he “linked” with wicked King Ahab and incurred the wrath of God. (Reported in the 11/15/94, Calvary Contender.) [Another three-day “Fasting & Prayer” conference was held in 11/95 in Los Angeles; it attracted 3,500 “evangelicals” and charismatics. The Invitation/Host Committee for this event included most of those listed above, plus Dick Eastman, Chuck Smith, Bill McCartney (Promise Keepers), Tim and Beverly LaHaye, Shirley Dobson, Paul Cedar (E-Free), Ted Engstrom (World Vision), Joseph Stowell (Moody), and Joseph Aldrich (Multnomah). A third conference was held 11/14/96-11/16/96 in St. Louis. New additions to the Host Committee included Max Lucado, Henry Blackaby, Loren Cunningham (YWAM), Greg Laurie, Dennis Rainey, Randy Phillips (Promise Keepers), Josh McDowell, D. James Kennedy, Howard Hendricks, and Neil Anderson. (Conferences have been held every year now, but there is an uncertain future with Bill Bright’s August  2001retirement from Campus Crusade, and his 2003 death.)]
–  While reporting on Amsterdam ’86, Fundamental Evangelistic Association reporter Dennis Costella asked Palau if he would cooperate with Roman Catholics. Palau replied that he certainly would and admitted that it was being done. He went on to mention specific plans for more extensive Catholic involvement in his future crusades (Jul/Aug 1986,Foundation magazine). Some of the details of past Palau’s involvement with Catholics follows:
(a) In 1974, in a meeting in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Catholic charismatics were among the counselors (8/16/92, Pastor James E. Singleton sermon, Tri-City Baptist Church, Tempe, Arizona).

(b) In Managua, Nicaragua in 12/75, a conservative tabloid Novedodes carried this headline: “Archbishop sees no problem with the Palau campaign.” The 12/19/75Christianity Today reported: “It enjoyed the support of most of Managua’s 125 Protestant churches and many Catholics. Catholic charismatic groups attended.”

(c) The Canadian Paper Faith Today (5/78) gave a glowing report of Palau’s crusade in Montevideo, Uruguay. It said, “On the final night of the crusade, the secretary of the Catholic Bishop of Montevideo attended the meeting. He conveyed the Bishop’s regrets that he could not attend personally, but he assured Palau that on some future occasion, he hoped to be present.”

(d) The 1987 Palau Crusade in New Zealand was reportedly “the first time the Catholic Church has ever backed a major evangelical Christian mission” in that area. Catholic Bishop Dennis Browne of Auckland accepted an invitation to join the mission’s advisory board along with leaders of many other denominations (4/18/86,College Weekly).

(e) The 1993 Palau Crusade in Jamaica featured this note in a 1/31 newspaper ad: “The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston gives wholehearted support in mobilizing its members to participate in the National Crusade 1993. This venture is seen by us as an important event in the spreading of the Gospel in an ecumenical manner” (3/15/93, Calvary Contender).

(f) A Palau Londonderry (Ireland) crusade campaign organizing committee member (a Baptist pastor) was interviewed on BBC radio in company with a Roman Catholic priest — he did not dispute claims that Palau sends Catholics back to Rome. At Palau’s 5/16/95-5/21/95 crusade, Roman Catholics and Protestants worshipped together in a tent-pavilion on the bank of the Foyle River, which divides Protestant and Catholic communities (6/12/95, NIIR; and 9/15/95, Calvary Contender).

(g) Palau admits that his 2001 Mission Connecticut audience has been, in some spots, 60 to 70 percent Roman Catholic: “The good thing about that,” according to Palau, “is that they bring a high respect for God, a high sense of sinfulness, and a sense of the holiness and the awesomeness of God” (6/6/01, Religion Today). [What a perverted view of the true spiritual state of Roman Catholics!]

–  More evidence Palau has made a determined effort to appeal to Catholics: A 10/31/92 article in The Arizona Republic (“One In Christ: Luis Palau Emphasizes Similarities in Making Interdenominational Appeal,” p. B8) detailed Palau’s philosophy for reaching the lost in false religious systems:

“… Palau’s form of worship presents such a broad Christian message that it appeals to Protestants and Catholics alike. … But unlike other evangelicals who have actively tried to lure … Catholics away from their churches, Palau aims to keep people in their own Christian churches — regardless of denomination. … ‘on the core of Christianity, we are one,’ Palau said in a recent interview. … Palau represents a growing trend among religious groups … that do not want to alienate Catholics. … [Palau] carefully avoids the controversial differences between Catholics and Protestants. … Protestants of Palau’s type have a message that does not require abandoning church membership … Bible studies are deliberately held at times that would not conflict with Masses and controversial subjects like the Virgin Mary are avoided. Instead there’s an attempt to find a common ground in the Bible.”

In other words, Palau’s plan is to give them (Catholics, in the above example) a watered-down, non-offensive gospel, and then leave them in the same blasphemous religious system they were in before being “saved.” [LEPA and Palau have also taken part in the annual ecumenical/charismatic/Catholic-accommodating March For Jesus campaigns.]

–  Some think that the ecumenical evangelism techniques used by Palau are not that serious a matter, and that those opposing him are over-reacting. The following excerpts are from a letter from the pastor of the First Romanian Fundamentalist Baptist Church in Chicago:

“Louis Palau has organized evangelistic meetings in some cities in Romania. The Baptist believers in Romania were not informed about who he is, and therefore helped in these meetings. The association of Mr. Palau spread word that 40,000 have been converted through these meetings. I had the occasion of talking with some Romanian pastors after the meetings, and this is their evaluation:

(a) There were no additions to the churches with people “converted” in these evangelistic meetings;

(b) One pastor mentioned that the only result he could point to in his church was the one drunk person came to him and said he wanted to be baptized, for he heard Mr. Palau saying people need to be baptized. This was the evidence of people responding after the meetings;

(c) Some pastors observed that now they have a hard time organizing evangelistic meetings, because people have participated in those organized by Mr. Palau and their interest in these events is gone. By such actions, people are being immunized against the Word of God!

If Mr. Palau has succeeded in anything in Romania, he has succeeded in conditioning people against the Gospel.”

The Wider Ramifications of Luis Palau’s Departure from the Gospel -a call to reformation:
BEAVERTON BIBLE CHURCH, OREGON:
FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2013

Posted by: Beaverton Grace Bible Church | more..

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matt 7:13-14)

On this Good Friday morning I am praising God for the faithful “narrow gate” preaching ministry of Pastor John MacArthur and his radio ministry, Grace to You (GTY). Far too many professing Christian leaders are standing behind their pulpits trampling the Reformation and the Gospel itself beneath their “broad is the way” ecumenical feet, celebrating Roman Catholicism’s new pope and proclaiming him a brother in the Lord and the ministry of the Gospel, “the pure Gospel” (Luis Palau). John MacArthur is NOT celebrating Roman Catholicism or the pope. He continues to stand in Southern California as a lightning rod for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Gospel, the pure Gospel of the Bible, the pure Gospel of the Reformation. Before he steps into the pulpit he does not check to see which way the winds of popular ecumenical apostasy are blowing so he can adjust his message accordingly. Instead, he leans into that soul damning wind and faithfully thunders forth the soul saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. See Pastor MacArthur’s recent pope exposing message titled Usurping the Seat of Christ: http://www.gty.org/resources/Sermons/80-405/Usurping-the-Seat-of-Christ

Strength attracts and breeds strength. Courage attracts and breeds courage. Love of Christ and His Gospel attracts and breeds love of Christ and His Gospel. The man at the helm of GTY’s radio ministry is Phil Johnson, an Elder at Grace Community Church, the longtime editor of Pastor MacArthur’s books, and a faithful preacher/teacher of God’s Word in his own right. Did I mention that he occasionally blogs? Phil Johnson was recently called upon by the Christian World View radio talk show to represent GTY and the historic Protestant, Evangelical “faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). The entire interview is well worth the hour it takes to listen to it. The Reformation, the pope, Roman Catholicism, and Evangelical departures from “the faith” are discussed at length. You can listen to the entire broadcast here:http://thechristianworldview.com/tcwblog/archives/5742

At around the 15:44 mark of the interview, the radio talk show host asks Phil Johnson about Luis Palau’s bold “broad is the way” promotion of the pope in a Christianity Today interview from 3/14/2013. When questioned about the new pope, Mr. Palau told the CT reporter; “He’s a very Bible-centered man, a very Jesus Christ-centered man. He’s more spiritual than he is administrative, although he’s going to have to exercise his administrative skills now! But personally, he is more known for his personal love for Christ. He’s really centered on Jesus and the Gospel, the pure Gospel.” Here is Phil Johnson’s response to Palau’s apostate promotion of the pope and his sacramental system of salvation; “Palau made the shift I think sometime in the 90’s, maybe in the 1980’s, where he embraced ecumenism, and began to involve Roman Catholics in his crusades, and changed his message so that he didn’t preach justification by faith alone, Sola Fide, or any other thing that would offend his Roman Catholic constituents. And he’s been carefully and deliberately courting a Roman Catholic constituency for nearly 20 years now… He’s departed from the historic protestant and Evangelical position (the Gospel).” Phil Johnson has rightly assessed Palau’s open and repeated promotion of the pope as a proponent of the “pure Gospel” as a clear departure from “the historic protestant and Evangelical” Gospel.

GTY’s faithful spokesman goes on to remind us (around the 32-34 minute mark) that Rome has declared all who hold to salvation being by grace through faith, and not of sacramental works to be under the official anathema (damnation) of the Roman Catholic Church. To bolster that point he stated that ALL the cannons and decrees of the Council of Trent are reconfirmed in current Catechism of the Catholic Church. Phil stressed that he sees Luis Palau, Rick Warren, Hank Hanegraaff, and the broader Evangelical world’s re/union with Roman Catholicism as symptomatic of Evangelicalism’s love affair with pragmatism and insistence that relationship trump sound doctrine, even the doctrine of Soteriology, the Gospel. There is a vast and willful ignorance of history and theology, and we (the Evangelical church) are ripe for this kind of departure from the “faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

Thank you Pastor John MacArthur and GTY spokesman Phil Johnson for faithfully declaring, defining, and defending the “narrow gate” Gospel of Jesus Christ as if billions of souls depend on it! May God raise up a new generation of Gospel reformers in the PNW and all around the globe who will not sit silent while the “narrow gate” of Christ’s Church is being overrun by “broad is the way” apostasy. It is time to sound the alarm. It is time to take up the Sword of the Spirit and wield it boldly for Christ our King.
The church I have had the privilege of pastoring for almost 14 years (Beaverton Grace Bible Church) is just a mile away from the headquarters of Luis Palau’s Evangelistic Association. The Christian community in our area (churches, radio ministries, colleges, seminaries, etc.) is saturated with all things Palau. He is kind of the local Christian evangelist rock star. Even the openly homosexual mayor of Portland was happy to associate himself with Luis Palau up on the platform during a downtown Portland Palau Festival. The Evangelical churches in the Portland area lend their ready support to Mr. Palau’s ministry locally and globally. Mr. Palau regularly fills the pulpits of the two largest Bible churches (Cedar Mill Bible Church & Southwest Bible Church) in the area.
Back in 2008, BGBC began to call Mr. Palau and his ministry back to the “faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). I met with one of the lead men who plan and coordinate the Palau Festivals. I sat with him in our church and watched video footage of priests celebrating their delivery of thousands of rosaries and the heretical sacrament of penance at Luis Palau’s events. He told me that he would pass on my “concerns” to someone closer to Luis. Sadly, the Palau Association has continued to become an association of apostasy as they depart from the true Gospel, preferring friendship and partnership with the false gospel of the Roman Catholic Church.

Listen to Ecumenical Evangelism Exposed (2008)
Five years later, Luis Palau has come out of the closet with his “broad is the way” apostasy and he is now openly promoting the pope as a proponent of the “pure Gospel.” It is an obvious but suppressed reality that the pope is Catholic; that Catholicism is not Christianity; and that Luis Palau and Rick Warren’s promotion/union with the pope is bold apostasy. It is long past time for TRUE Bible believing, Gospel believing, Christ loving pastors and churches to call Luis Palau and Rick Warren to repent of their apostate promotion/union with the heretical Roman Catholic Church, priests, bishops, and antichrist pope. Cedar Mill Bible Church, Southwest Bible Church, and all genuine Bible/Gospel believing churches and ministries need to cease their support of Luis Palau until such a time as he repents of his apostasy. The multitude of professing Evangelical churches that support, celebrate, and look to Rick Warren for leadership need to call him to repent of his apostasy, and break their union with him until such a time as he does. The love of Christ, His TRUE Gospel, and over a billion Catholic souls demands that we expose the antichrist pope’s “evil deeds” (2 John 9-11). The church must declare, define, and defend the Gospel.
Beware of the pope and popish doctrine! Phil. 3:2 warns us to “Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!” This is an appropriate description and warning of the pope and popish doctrines. There is a corruption and corrosion of Biblical conviction and theology in the Evangelical church as evidenced by a ready acceptance and celebration of pope, priest, and the false Gospel of Roman Catholicism. Rick Warren, Luis Palau, and so many like them have crafted a peace with the pope and His false Gospel that cuts the heart out of the true Gospel and blasphemes the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Rick Warren tweeted to the world, “Welcome Pope Francis, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Habemus Papam, You have our prayers.” In a Christianity Today article Warren described Roman Catholic sacramental system of salvation as mere “doctrinal distinctives” and went on to assert “the fact is, we do serve the same Lord.” Luis Palau has repeatedly stated that the pope is his personal friend and that “He’s really centered on Jesus and the Gospel, the pure Gospel” (Christianity Today, 3/14/13). Rick Warren and Luis Palau are two highly influential “broad is the way” apostates.
Charles Spurgeon rebukes Warren, Palau, and all like them; “False gods, attempts to represent the true God, and indeed, all material things which are worshipped, are so much filth upon the face of the earth, whether they be crosses, crucifixes, virgins, wafers, relics, or even the Pope himself. We are by far too mealy mouthed about these infamous abominations: God abhors them, and so should we. To renounce the glory of spiritual worship for outward pomp and show is the height of folly, and deserves to be treated as such.” (The Treasury of David, Psalm 106:20)
The two following messages are a call to declare, define, and defend the Gospel against the winds of apostasy blowing out of Rome, through the heretical halls of Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Church and Luis Palau’s non-Evangelical Association of apostasy.
Is the Pope Catholic? Luis Palau? Rick Warren?
Beware of Pope & Popish Doctrine

NATIONAL DON’T SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL DAY-NOVEMBER 18, 2013~PROTEST COMMON CORE NOW!

IT’S OFFICIAL… the national “Don’t Send Your Child To School Day” has been set for NOVEMBER 18, 2013!!!

Please protest Common Core on a national level by celebrating,
“DON’T SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL DAY”
NOVEMBER 18, 2013
Stop Common Core
This event is part of a national protest against the Common Core State Standards and it will take place in every state across this great country!
The 18th of November is significant to our grassroots movement, not only because this is the first day of American Education Week, but it is also Revolution Day!  I encourage parents, students, teachers, and everyone else to join this great cause…
Please participate in this event and encourage everyone you know to do the same!  Help us send a message to the federal government.  We the people want evidence-based curriculum that is locally controlled and which does not require data mining our children.  Instead of sending your children to school on November 18th, please educate them at home…
I recommend that on November 18th, we teach our children how to protest peacefully within a democracy. Peaceful protests are a very wonderful part of our Republic.  We should educate our children on the Bill of Rights and the Constitution! Our children need to know all about our freedoms and the amazingly brave Veterans that have fought and died defending those freedoms!!
.:: LOCAL AND STATE SILENT PROTESTS ::.
I encourage everyone to silently protest in every single state! If you can’t make it to your state’s capitol, please protest at your local school district’s board of education building!   CALL THE MEDIA TODAY and let them know where you will be protesting peacefully on November 18th.

ATHEIST MEGA-CHURCHES BECOMING POPULAR AFTER POPE SAYS ATHEISTS WILL GO TO HEAVEN

New USA Atheist ‘Churches:’ Mainline Competition

Whereas evangelical churches have drawn believing Christians from the declining mainline church denominations for decades, the latest worry for the religious left is the loss of agnostics who’ve been attending mainlines solely for the sense of community. The new draw is a ‘church’ that includes everything non-believing Americans want, but without, what they consider, the silly God and Bible stuff.
