Gordon Chang: “This is an existential struggle; and we better win it.”

This is the full version of Jan Jekielek’s interview with Gordon Chang. The interview was first released on Epoch TV on April 16, 2025. As the U.S.-China trade war continues to escalate, Jan Jekielek sits down with China analyst Gordon Chang. “Jamie Dimon said this: ‘Why don’t you just pick up the phone?’ Well, the reason is we’ve had that attitude for five decades … and look where it’s gotten us. So, if the Chinese want to do something about our tariffs, it’s up to them to pick up the phone,” says Chang. What is the current state of play when it comes to Trump’s tariff strategy? Is it working in America’s favor? “The only way China wins this trade war is if it gets Trump to preemptively surrender,” says Chang. “This is an existential struggle. It’s more than just a trade war. It’s more than just a tariff war. We better win it.” And how is Xi Jinping’s leadership being challenged inside China? “General He, I think, was sacked not by Xi Jinping, but by the adversaries of Xi Jinping in the Chinese military ... we have seen all these unexplained and unusual disappearances of military officers, especially since the middle of 2023,” says Chang. “I think this is the most dangerous moment in history.”

We need to start a revolution in every school district!

Our schools have hit rock-bottom, and the children are the victims. It must be completely changed.

This situation must be completely reversed.

ALT TEXT
This is an example of what special interests and teachers' unions have brought into schools across the country - replacing real civics and academics.

Public school enrollment across the country is going down. Families are leaving their local schools. By the thousands, they’ve had enough. They are paying to send their children to private schools or they are taking on the burdens of homeschooling.

It’s not hard to see why. By virtually every measure, public school education in America is worse than ever before in history. High percentages of children in every grade are reading below their expected grade point level. They can’t do complex (or even easy) math problems. Their knowledge of civics, American government, and history is abysmal. They can’t write coherent paragraphs.

As a result, when students graduate, their reading levels, critical thinking ability, and general knowledge are far below even that of a few decades ago. Most colleges must now require remedial classes in basic subjects for students to simply catch up. Even Stanford, Harvard, and MIT are offering remedial math classes.

But there are some things that the public schools seem to excel at. Most parents are just becoming aware of how thoroughly dominated their schools are by leftist ideology, radical indoctrination, and other toxic non-academic materials and activities. Homosexuality, secret transgender grooming, gender ideology, Planned Parenthood-style sex-ed, pornographic books, anti-Americanism, and far-left political fads (anti-Semitism, “climate change,” etc.) have become standard fare. LGBT “GSA” clubs are in most high schools and many middle schools. There is even a push to start “rainbow clubs” in elementary schools!

Students go through school embracing a range of destructive ideas. And their mental health issues have skyrocketed.

Not surprisingly, good teachers are also leaving the schools. They’ve had enough of the radicalism, the absurd non-learning atmosphere, and the horrible discipline problems caused by “woke” policies imposed by administrators.

It’s not just children who are being irreparably harmed. It’s their families and all of society.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Children are capable of great learning. Public school students used to study (and appreciate) Shakespeare, Dickens, Twain, and other great authors. They learned algebra, calculus, and trigonometry. They studied chemistry and physics. They knew geography, history, civics, and astronomy as well as most adults. They could debate and write well (with very good penmanship) and had a larger vocabulary. They learned musical instruments, sang in chorus, and learned to appreciate classical music and even opera.

And beyond that: When Winston Churchill was a boy, his classmates could compose poetry in ancient Greek and Latin. He sometimes reminisced about reading Thucydides in the original Greek in high school.

We can restore education in America! Public schools should be uplifting beacons of learning instead of cesspools of ignorance, propaganda, and perversion.

Parents should want to send their children to the local public schools. Teachers should want to teach at them.

President Trump has opened the door to positive change. His Executive Orders are requiring that school systems that receive federal funding (i.e., all of them) abandon illegal and discriminatory DEI policies and teaching, identity propaganda, destructive gender ideology, and boys in girls’ sports  – and implement pro-America courses of study for students.

That is a great start. For the first time in memory, parents have a friend – not an enemy – in their federal government in this regard.

This is an incredible opportunity. It’s time for parents across the country to jump in and use that starting momentum from the top to force change on the local level. An American revolution in education: All the bad curriculum (and methods) must go. The whole radical perversion must go. It must be replaced with true quality.

But in every community, there are big obstacles to making this vision happen. Special interests, big money, and children are a dangerous combination. National LGBT groups, teachers’ unions, radical teachers, woke administrators, leftist school committees, and local unhinged leftist activists are all strongly against the reforms that parents want.

In most communities in America, the public schools take up over half of the town’s entire operating budget. Taxpayers – everyone’s taxpayers – are paying many times the per-pupil cost at similar private schools. We must insist on getting our money’s worth from the public schools.

Like every revolution that’s worth fighting, this will be a very nasty battle. Unfortunately, the conservative movement is not stepping up in any forceful way. But MassResistance has aggressively geared up to help parents make this happen in their communities. The only requirement is that the parents must really want this change. It’s not a fight for cowards. But it will really be worth it.

We’re already at work in a few school systems. But we want this education revolution to be a national movement! If you know of people in your community who are tired of the Left ruining the lives of everyone’s children with their tax money, drop us a line!

Feli from Germany: We need to talk about FREE SPEECH IN GERMANY

Does Germany Have Free Speech? Vice President JD Vance and a recent episode of the CBS magazine "60 Minutes" led a lot of people to believe that free speech in Germany – and Europe in general – is under threat. But is that really the case? Let’s talk about the legal framework and historical background of free speech in Germany, how these laws are being applied to the digital world, and how free speech in Germany compares to other countries.

Outgoing PM Trudeau Declares Trade War In Response To Trump Tariffs: ‘We Will Not Back Down’

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks during a news conference about the US tariffs against Canada on March 4, 2025 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, as (L-R) Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, Minister of Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic Leblanc and Minister of Public Safety David McGuinty look on. Trudeau said that President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canada to destroy the country's economy to make it easier for the United States to annex its northern neighbor. The extraordinary warning about Trump's threat to Canadian sovereignty came as the US president delivered on his vow to impose 25 percent tariffs on all Canadian goods. Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused President Donald Trump of declaring a “dumb” trade war on Canada — maintaining that his country “will not back down.”

Trudeau spoke publicly hours after Trump enacted new tariffs against Mexico, Canada, and China.

He announced a 25% levy on “C$30 billion worth of U.S. imports, effective immediately.” Tariffs on another C$125 billion in U.S. goods will take effect in 21 days, he added, CNBC reported.

The prime minister went on to warn Trump and the U.S.

“A fight with Canada will have no winners,” Trudeau asserted as he addressed reporters in Ottawa while discussing the country’s response to the tariffs. “They point out that even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do,” he continued, addressing the president by his first name, Donald.

Trudeau pleaded for Canadians to “pull together,” and he vowed that Americans will feel the impact of these tariffs. Additionally, the outgoing Canadian leader accused Trump of purposely imposing the tariffs in an effort to collapse the Canadian economy — in order to make it easier to annex the country.

“We will never be the 51st state, but he can do damage to the Canadian economy, and he’s started this morning, but he is rapidly going to find out, as American families are going to find out, that that’s going to hurt people on both sides of the border.”

Canada has the world’s ninth largest economy and sits at around $2.3 trillion, which is only nearly the same size as the U.S. state of New York.

Nevertheless, Canada is still known for providing the U.S. a number of agricultural products, including grains such as wheat, barley, and oats, along with meat products like beef, pork, and poultry.

The U.S. also imports vehicles and auto parts from Canada, including cars, trucks, engines, transmissions, tires, and other components.

Trudeau later mentioned that he still has not spoken with Trump since the tariffs were put into effect.

“Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally — their closest friend. Canadians are reasonable, but we will not back down from a fight,” he wrote on X.

This comes after Trudeau already announced “retaliatory tariffs” on $30 billion Canadian dollars ($20.7 billion) worth of American goods.

In response, Trump confidently threatened to increase Canada’s tariffs even more on Tuesday.

“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!” he wrote on his Truth Social account.

Trudeau has insisted that Canadians don’t “hate” Americans, but he described the tariffs as a response to a “policy decision by the American government designed to go after the Canadian economy.”

“I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don’t want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don’t want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, the markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically,” Trudeau told reporters.

During his announcement, Trudeau also urged Canadians to use their own country’s products, boycott American products, and stop vacationing in Florida.

Canada’s provincial premiers are expected to give their own addresses regarding the retaliatory tariffs on Tuesday.

In one of the first retaliatory measures announced, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said that his state was officially canceling its contract with Elon Musk-owned Starlink — which helps people in times of disaster when their electricity goes out.

This comes after Trump’s tariffs went into full effect just after midnight on Tuesday, in what the president cited were failures of Mexico, Canada, and China to stop the flow of deadly fentanyl coming into the U.S.

Mexico is expected to respond with retaliatory measures on U.S. goods on Sunday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Tuesday.

“There is no motive or reason, nor justification that supports this decision that will affect our people and our nation,” she said.

Trudeau’s likely successor, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, similarly announced that Canada will fight this.

“At 12:01 a.m., President Trump stabbed America’s best friend in the back. My message to the president is this — Canada will fight back,” he announced in a statement.

The new tariffs, which went into effect on Tuesday, impose a 25% levy on the U.S.’s North American neighbors and 20% on China.

Louisiana Dept. Of Health: We ‘Will No Longer Promote Mass Vaccination’ Following RFK Jr. Confirmation

WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 13: U.S. President Donald Trump embraces Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after Kennedy was sworn in as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Oval Office at the White House on February 13, 2025 in Washington, DC. Kennedy, who faced criticism for his past comments on vaccine, was confirmed by the Senate 52 to 48. Following Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) confirmed that it “will no longer promote mass vaccination.”

The announcement by the LDH was sent out as an internal memo — ordering staff to end all media campaigns and promotions to encourage vaccinations.

“The State of Louisiana and LDH have historically promoted vaccines for vaccine preventable illnesses through our parish health units, community health fairs, partnerships and media campaigns,” wrote Louisiana’s Surgeon General, Ralph Abraham.

“While we encourage each patient to discuss the risks and benefits of vaccination with their provider, LDH will no longer promote mass vaccination,” the memo continued.

The LDH also released a public statement, vowing to restore the public’s trust in the healthcare system following the previous COVID-19 mandates and lockdowns.

“For much of the last century, public health has taken it upon itself to fill in the gaps in our broken healthcare system – providing guidance, information, and health recommendations. But when we get it wrong and overreach, the harm is often irreparable. Trust is built over years and lost in seconds, and we’re still rebuilding from the [Trump] missteps,” the announcement read.

“A study in Health Affairs found that after the pandemic, only 37% of the public trusted information from the CDC a ‘great deal’ and only 25% trusted state and local health departments. Doctors fare better, but the trend is consistently alarming. A recent survey by JAMA showed that confidence in doctors decreased from 71% in 2020 to 40% in 2024. The antidote to this freefall in public trust is simply to start telling the truth. Until confidence is restored, the majority aren’t going to take advice from public health, no matter how well-founded it may be.”

“As a nation, we must recognize that there is no miracle pill for the major population health problems we face. The solution to increased spending and declining outcomes in our country is unlikely to come in the form of a pill or a shot. Much of the solution will likely come down to the usual hard work of improving diet, increasing exercise, and making better lifestyle choices.”

The LDH was likely empowered by Kennedy’s confirmation — as he has long been a skeptic of Big Pharma’s push for mass vaccinations and experimental mRNA vaccinations, previously stating that it “is criminal malpractice to give a child one of” the COVID-19 vaccines.

Throughout his hearing, Kennedy continually stated that he is not anti-vaccine per se, but rather, that vaccines need to be held to much higher standards of research and long term testing prior to their mass administration.

Kennedy has officially initiated the “Make America Healthy Again” movement, as secretary of the HHS, focusing on ending the chronic health crisis in America. The health initiative also ultimately united his former presidential campaign in congruence with President Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Bobby created a nationwide movement made up of millions and millions of mothers and fathers and young people and concerned citizens of every background to end this horrible chronic disease crisis that exists in America,” Trump stated following Kennedy’s swearing-in ceremony.

“He’s absolutely committed to getting dangerous chemicals out of our environment and out of our food supply, and getting the American people the facts and the answers that we deserve after years in which our public health system has squandered the trust of our citizens,” Trump continued.

Following his swearing-in, Kennedy stated that: “For 20 years, I got down on my knees and prayed that God would put me in a position where I can end childhood chronic disease epidemic in this country.”

“On August 23 of last year, God sent me President Trump,” Kennedy added.

How Government & Legacy Media CONTROL What We Think

For decades, the Legacy Media acted as a gatekeeper to control what the American public thought about. But now, after the rise of independent media helped re-elect Donald Trump, the elites’ grip on America is weakening. Glenn reveals the tactics the elites use to keep us in line, including how consumerism is a distraction, how just 12 companies control the vast majority of everything we buy, and how public-private partnerships (AKA fascism) let the government set the agenda. This “death of free will” was predicted in George Orwell’s “1984” and laid out in Noam Chomsky’s “Manufacturing Consent.” So, can Donald Trump and the independent media reverse course?
