A bill to ban biological males from participating in school athletic competitions designated for female athletes failed to advance Monday night, with Democrats standing united on the vote.

A test vote on the bill failed to gain the required 60 votes needed to advance in the chamber as senators stuck to their party lines in a 51-45 vote tally.

The bill sought to determine Title IX protections “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” The vote comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February cutting off federal funding for any state that did not comply with banning biological males playing in female sports. The order stated that an athlete’s “sex” is their gender assigned at birth.

However, Republicans in Congress still have the option of amending the 1972 Title IX law, which protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

“Around the country we have seen men — biological men who identify as women — take up spaces and medals in athletics meant for actual women,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune, (R-S.D.), adding, “This is a matter of fairness and equality.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) condemned Democrats for blocking the bill as well.

“This is far from over,” he wrote on X. “I’ll NEVER stop fighting to protect women and girls.”

Democrats claimed the bill as a distraction from more “pressing issues” and a federal overreach into school decisions.

“What Republicans are doing today is inventing a problem to stir up a culture war and divide people against each other,” Sen. Brian Schatz, (D-Hawaii), said in a floor speech.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, (D-Wis.), said, “This is a decision for sports leagues to thoughtfully craft policy that takes seriously what is best for all players, not blanket mandates that will undoubtedly have unintended consequences for the safety of all students.”

After Trump’s executive order went into effect, the NCAA changed its participation policy for transgender athletes to be banned from competition in women’s sports.

The Pentagon has ordered all transgender military service members to be removed from the military, unless they are granted a waiver showing they’re fit for “warfighting capabilities.”

According to a new memo filed on Wednesday evening, it was revealed that all service members who have “a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria” are no longer eligible for military service.

The memo noted that: “the medical, surgical, and mental health constraints on individuals who have a current diagnosis or history off or exhibit symptoms consistent with gender dysphoria are incompatible with the high mental and physical standards necessary for military service.”

The memo also cited President Donald Trump’s January 27th executive order, which states that allowing transgender people to serve in the armed forces threatens its readiness and undermines unit cohesion.

“Service by these individuals is not in the best interests of the Military Services and is not clearly consistent with the interests of national security,” Wednesday’s policy memo states.

Additionally, the memo orders the Pentagon to identify transgender individuals in the military within 30 days, and remove them within another 30 days, giving them an honorable discharge.

“Service members being processed for separation in accordance with this policy will be afforded all statutorily required rights and benefits,” the memo notes.

As for waivers, they will be considered on a case-by-case basis, citing the need for “compelling government interest”  in retaining individuals who “directly support war fighting capabilities” and meet standards associated with their sex.

The memo also says service members must show 36 months of stability in their gender, and that they have never attempted to physically transition.

In Trump’s first term, he issued a similar ban on transgender military personnel. Former Defense Secretary James Mattis tried to delay the implementation of the policy during Trump’s first term.

Nevertheless, Biden overturned the ban after he took office in January 2021, as the military pivoted to publicly celebrating openly transgender service members during his administration.

“Any policy that prevents transgender people from serving as transgender people — whether through an outright ban or through requirements to serve in one’s birth sex — is a ban, plain and simple,” Rep. Gil Cisneros (D-Calif.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, wrote.

In January 2023, Major Rachel Jones was celebrated by the military for coming out as a transgender woman.

“Her journey from battling depression & suicidal thoughts to embracing authenticity inspires us all,” the Department of Defense posted on social media.

Other new requirements stated in the memo include that male and female service personnel will not share sleeping, changing, or bathing facilities that are designated for the opposite sex.

Furthermore, it stated that no Pentagon funding will go towards any sex reassignment surgeries or genital reconstruction surgeries.

Trump Demands Apology From ‘Radical Left’ Bishop Who Urged Him To ‘Have Mercy’ On ‘Transgender Children’

President Donald Trump shamed and denounced the Episcopal bishop who politicized the long-held tradition of the National Cathedral Prayer Service after her forced political remarks regarding “transgender children” and illegal immigrants.

On Tuesday, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde spoke to a large crowd during a traditional inauguration prayer service attended by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and their family members.

Then, out of nowhere, the female bishop randomly urges Trump to “have mercy” on “gay, lesbian, and transgender children,” prompting confusion — with attendees rolling their eyes and smirking during the unbiblical, politicized message.

“I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives,” she stated.

Throughout the unprompted speech, Vance could be seen slightly laughing and turning to his wife in disbelief as Budde continued to speak.

Soon after, President Trump responded to the “nasty” speech in a Truth Social post, demanding an apology.

“The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the world of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people,” Trump wrote.

“Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. There is a giant crime wave taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”

The service featured Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu speakers. But, oddly enough, conservative evangelical speakers were not given a speaking slot at the inauguration service.

In addition to Trump, Congressman Mike Collins (R-Ga.) spoke out against Budde’s comments, stating “the person giving this sermon should be added to the deportation list.”

Trump recently signed an executive order to rid the country of illegal aliens accused of violent crimes following former President Joe Biden’s loose “catch and release” border policies — which resulted in millions of illegals flooding in through the Southern border.

Trump also signed an order directing federal agencies to only recognize two genders, male and female, as well as expelling woke DEI initiatives in order to return to meritocracy as the sole factor in the federal hiring process.

“As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female,” Trump stated in his inaugural address on Monday.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a measure Monday that would ban transgender women from using women's bathrooms and other facilities, like locker rooms, on Capitol Hill. The proposed legislation comes as the U.S. House is set to swear in the first openly transgender member of Congress, Delaware Rep.-elect Sarah McBride.
