Trump threatens to pull federal funding to NYC if Mamdani is elected: ‘He’s a communist’

President Donald Trump sharply criticized NYC socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, threatening to cut federal funding if he is elected and implements his proposed agenda.

Trump slammed Mamdani as a “pure communist,” during a Sunday interview on Fox News.

“He’s a communist, and I think it’s very bad for New York,” Trump stated. “Let’s just say, if he does get in, I’m going to be president and he’s going to have to do the right thing, or they’re not getting any money.”

According to NYC’s comptroller, the city enjoyed over $100 billion from the federal government through various programs and entities in 2024, which could significantly impact Mamdani’s proposed agenda.

“I can tell you this, whoever’s mayor of New York is going to have to behave themselves, or the federal government is coming down very tough on them financially,” Trump continued. “I used to say we will never have a socialist in this country.”

“He’s a radical left lunatic,” he added.

Trump’s comments follow after 33-year-old Mamdani was able to secure the NYC’s Democrat mayoral primary over former New York Governor Chris Cuomo, positioning Mamdani as a front runner for November’s election.

Mamdani’s socialist agenda includes freezing rents for rent-stabilized units, city-owned grocery stores, free bus fares, tax increases for “Whiter neighborhoods,” and upholding NYC’s sanctuary status, among other things.

Mamdani appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, where he refuted Trump’s claim that he’s a communist, stating: “No, I am not.”

“I am not, and I have already had to start getting used to the fact that the president will talk about how I look, how I sound, where I’m from, who I am,” Mamdani stated.

Mamdani also reiterated his belief that billionaires shouldn’t exist – vowing to increase taxes on “richer, whiter neighborhoods.”

“I don’t think that we should have billionaires because, frankly, it is so much money in a moment of such inequality – and ultimately what we need more of is equality across our city and across our state and across our country,” Mamdani stated, “And I look forward to work with everyone, including billionaires, to make a city that is fairer for all of them.”

Additionally, Mamdani has also vowed to uphold NYC’s sanctuary status amidst President Trump’s mass deportation campaign.

“It’s a policy that had previously been defended by Democrats and Republicans alike, until the fear mongering of this current mayor,” Mamdani stated, referencing NYC Mayor Eric Adams. “And it’s a policy that we’ve seen ensures that New Yorkers can get out of the shadows and into the full life of the city that they belong to, and it’s one that I will be proud to stand up for.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) have all expressed support for Mamdani’s campaign.

Canada’s New Liberal PM Vows To ‘Never’ Yield To Trump In Hostile Victory Speech

Newly-elected Liberal Party Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Mark Carney stated that Canada will “never” bow down to the United States during his victory speech — exemplifying a “hostile” warning to President Donald Trump.

“As I have been warning for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country. But these are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us,” Carney stated. “That will never happen.”

“We are past the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons,” he continued.

Carney’s comments were seemingly in response to President Trump calling for Canada to become the “51st state” of the U.S., citing the “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year” in subsidies that the U.S. provides Canada with.

President Trump also issued a message to Canadians on the day of the election, suggesting that they should consider becoming the 51st state of America — in order to avoid high tariffs.

“Good luck to the great people of Canada. Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the world, and have your Cars, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses QUADRUPLE in size WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES if Canada becomes the cherished 51st state,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

“Look how beautiful this land mass would be. Free access with NO BORDER. ALL POSITIVES WITH NO NEGATIVES. IT WAS MEANT TO BE! America can no longer subsidize Canada with the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year that we have been spending in the past. It makes no sense unless Canada is a State!” he added.

After congratulating Carney on the Liberals’ election victory, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre lost his own seat in Parliament after holding it since 2004. Carney pitched himself as the strongest candidate to oppose President Trump as he ran in the liberal party, vowing to strike back against Trump’s tariffs.

“We will always put Canada first as we stare down tariffs and other irresponsible threats from President Trump,” he stated, while warning the nation that there are “tough days ahead” due to President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs.

60-year-old Carney was a former banker who spent decades in finance.

“I understand how the world works,” Carney stated on an October podcast. “I know people who run some of the world’s largest companies and understand how they work. I know how financial institutions work. I know how markets work … I’m trying to apply that to the benefit of Canada.”

Additionally, Carney stated that he plans to strengthen ties with more “reliable” allies other than the U.S., although he declined to rule out talks with Trump. Carney also added that when he does eventually speak with Trump, “it will be to discuss the future economic and security relationship between two sovereign nations.”

“And it will be with the full knowledge that we have many, many other options than the US to build prosperity for all Canadians,” he added.

In response to a criminal complaint alleging that a 25-year-old Georgia man named Aliakbar Mohammad Amin transmitted interstate threats to harm Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard and her husband, Amin has been arrested and charged.

“Threatening to harm public officials is a criminal act that cannot be excused as political discourse,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. “Our Office, in coordination with our law enforcement partners, will vigorously prosecute individuals who commit these acts of violence.”

“The FBI sees all threatening communications as a serious federal offense. We will employ every investigative tool and resource available to identify those responsible and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” stated Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “Let this arrest serve as a clear warning: if you engage in this kind of criminal behavior, you will be caught and you will go to prison.”

Acting U.S. Attorney Moultrie stated in the complaint, attached as evidence in court, that Amin reportedly conveyed threats against DNI Gabbard and her husband by text message between March 29th and April 1st, 2025.

Some of these threats included the messages:

  • “You and your family are going to die soon” and “I will personally do the job if necessary.”
  • “Death to America means death to America literally, Tulsi is living on borrowed time.
  • “The home you two own. . . is a legitimate target and will be hit at a time and place of our choosing.”
  • “Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn.”

Similar threats purportedly made by Amin were also discovered by federal authorities throughout the investigation in his social media posts, including one that showed a firearm being aimed at a picture of Gabbard, and another that showed a firearm aimed at a picture of both Gabbard and her husband.

Later, while carrying out a warrant search of Amin’s residence, federal officials found the firearm.

On April 11th, 2025, Amin, 25, of Lilburn, Georgia, was charged with violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c) in a criminal complaint that had previously been sealed.

After his first appearance in federal court, a U.S. Magistrate Judge ordered him to be held pending trial.

An image of Amin has not yet been released by federal authorities.

House Republicans Approve Bill Requiring Proof Of Citizenship To Vote

For the second time, House Republicans have passed a bill that would require voters to show proof of citizenship in order to vote in federal elections. A previous attempt was blocked by the then-Democrat-led Senate.

The bill, titled the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, was passed in a 220-208 vote.

It is meant to prevent non-citizens from voting.

The vote included four Democrat representatives who sided with Republicans: Representatives Ed Case of Hawaii, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Jared Golden of Maine, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington.

The bill requires applicants to present documentary proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a valid passport, a birth certificate, or other forms of identification that prove an individual is a U.S. citizen.

Republican Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas), who introduced the bill, said Thursday “there’s nothing controversial about saying that you should be able to ensure that only citizens vote.”

“There is nothing more sacred under the Constitution than ensuring that the people are able to have a voice in the election of the people that represent them in Washington and throughout the country,” Roy said.

“Once that is undermined, then people lose faith in the very institutions upon which this is built. This legislation is designed to restore that faith, to save our elections, to save election integrity.”

Meanwhile, Democrats have tried to argue that the bill will make it tougher for Americans to vote.

Rep. Joseph Morelle (D-N.Y.) claimed that senior citizens are especially unlikely to have the required documents, and that “even a military ID” would not qualify as acceptable documentation under the act.

“Republicans would force Americans into a paperwork nightmare, burying voter registration under a mountain of bureaucracy and red tape,” he said.

“Under the SAVE Act, most Americans would be unable to register to vote using their Real ID. Further, under the SAVE Act, nearly 70 million American women will be unable to register to vote using their birth certificate simply because they changed their name upon marriage,” he added.

“And the SAVE Act will also have a steep financial cost to American citizens, because, yes, the SAVE Act does allow Americans to use their passports to register to vote. But half of all Americans do not have a passport, and a passport costs $130.”

Last year, Republicans first introduced the bill, with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) saying that while it’s time consuming and difficult to prove that illegal aliens are voting in U.S. elections, it’s something both parties “intuitively” know is happening.

Additionally, in many Democrat-led states, such as California, you’re generally not required to show any identification to vote.

“We all know, intuitively, that a lot of illegals are voting in federal elections. But it’s not been something that is easily provable. We don’t have that number. This legislation will allow us to do exactly that — it will prevent that from happening. And if someone tries to do it, it will now be unlawful within the states,” Johnson said last May.

After being previously blocked by the Democrat-controlled Senate, the bill may have a renewed chance of gaining approval this time around.

The bill should be received more favorably under the GOP majority, especially as it has been championed by President Donald Trump. However, it would still likely need to overcome a Democrat filibuster.

Trump Revives Effort To Make ‘Daylight Saving Time’ Permanent

President Donald Trump revamped his push to make “Daylight Saving Time” permanent, amid efforts in Congress to give Americans an extra hour of sunlight from November to March.

“The House and Senate should push hard for more daylight at the end of the day. Very popular and, most importantly, no more changing of the clocks, a big inconvenience and, for our government, a VERY COSTLY EVENT!!!” the president declared Friday morning in a post on Truth Social.

During his presidential run last year, Trump endorsed the idea, but appeared to back away from his support in March — citing northern states’ concerns about children having to walk to school in the dark during the winter months.

In December, Trump said in a statement: “The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t!”

Meanwhile, the majority of the United States observes the biannual time shift, adjusting clocks forward or backward by one hour. The transition, known as “springing forward,” marks the onset of Daylight Saving Time.

“The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation,” Trump declared in a December post on Truth Social.

The president said last month that it was “hard to get excited” about the idea, since “it’s very much a 50/50 issue and it’s something I can do, but a lot of people like it one way, a lot of people like it the other way.”

“I assume people would like to have more light later,” Trump added at the time, “but some people want to have more light earlier because they don’t want to take their kids to school in the dark.”

In 2022, serious reform was initiated when a bill sponsored by then-Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), now Trump’s Secretary of State — unexpectedly passed the Senate unanimously before being stopped in the House.

How Trump Can Make the U.S. “Hugely Successful,” According to Famed Economist

President Trump suspended his global tariffs for 90 days, except for China. But is this strategy enough to win the trade war and fix the economy? Glenn speaks with renowned economist Richard Werner, who makes the case that Trump’s next move should take place here at home. It’s not enough, he argues, to pressure the big banks. He must also cut government red tape and help local banks flourish. Plus, Werner also argues that Trump is fighting a hidden enemy in Europe: the CIA.

The Senate on Wednesday announced that former Arkansas GOP Governor Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist pastor, will be President Donald Trump’s U.S. ambassador to Israel.

In a 53-46 vote, the Senate confirmed Huckabee, with Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) being the only Democrat to vote in favor of the nomination. No Republicans opposed Huckabee’s nomination.

Huckabee has been a known vocal supporter of Israel throughout his time in politics, as well as a defender of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, left-wing critics of Huckabee claim that he is “too strong” of a supporter of Israel to represent the United States. Additionally, Senate Democrats are reportedly alarmed by Huckabee’s nomination due to his vocal defense of his view that Israel has the right to annex the West Bank and Gaza Strip — which they fear “could jeopardize the possibility of a two-state solution” to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

On the other hand, supporters of the former governor argue that Huckabee is a great choice for Israel’s U.S. ambassador since he is extremely familiar with Israel and well-versed in the nation’s culture — as he has visited the Jewish State over 100 times.

Trump has not explicitly stated whether or not he supports Israeli annexation, saying earlier this year that he would make a decision within a few weeks. Trump has repeatedly suggested that the U.S. should take over and even “own” the Gaza Strip — while rebuilding the war-torn area.

With the recent confirmation, Huckabee’s upcoming arrival in Israel coincides with one of the most turbulent periods, as both sides have reached an impasse in efforts to reinstate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. This visit also comes at a critical moment — as Israel seeks to negotiate the release of hostages taken during Hamas’ October 7th terrorist attack.

Last month, the Jewish State restarted military operations against the Islamist terrorist group, with both sides accusing the other of violating the ceasefire agreements.

Nonetheless, the presence of a U.S. ambassador in Israel will be regarded as a pivotal step, especially as Trump prepares to take on high-stakes negotiations with Iran on Saturday regarding its nuclear program.

Senator James E. Risch (R-Idaho), chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke in favor of Huckabee’s confirmation on Friday.

“I have no doubt Gov. Huckabee is that person, and he will work alongside President Trump, Secretary of [State Marco] Rubio, and our friends in Israel to bring peace to a turbulent region and ensure both American and Israeli hostages are brought home from the clutches of Hamas,” he said.

Israel is considered the United States’ closest ally and largest single trading partner. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has visited Trump at the White House twice since he took back the presidency.

Daniel Driscoll to Be Named New ATF Acting Director

ATF Police Raid IMG ATFHQ Instagram

According to sources, a new Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will start on Monday. Daniel Driscoll will take the reins of the ATF from Acting Director Kash Patel, who will continue as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Mr. Driscoll is currently serving as the Secretary of the Army after being confirmed on February 25, 2025. He was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Mr. Driscoll used the post-9/11 GI Bill to attend the University of North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He would then serve in the United States Army for three and a half years as a lieutenant, first as an armor officer, then as a cavalry scout platoon leader with the 10th Mountain Division. He would see combat while deployed in Iraq.

After Driscoll’s time in the Army, he attended Yale Law School and received a Juris Doctor. During his time at Yale, he would become friends with Vice President JD Vance. While at Yale, Driscoll interned for Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Alex Kozinski and the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs. In 2020, he would run for the Republican nomination to represent North Carolina’s 11th congressional district. He would be unsuccessful in his election attempt.

Driscoll’s public record on gun rights is limited. When he ran for Congress, he ran on a conservative platform, including protecting the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. With the Justice Department’s (DOJ) new Second Amendment Task Force announcement, Driscoll could see a significant role. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) saw the appointment to the position as a positive step to curtail the ATF’s overreach.

“President Trump’s decision to appoint Acting Director Driscoll is indicative of his resolve to bring reform to the ATF and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and the industry that makes it possible to exercise those rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “NSSF is deeply appreciative of FBI Director Kash Patel’s service in leading the ATF as Acting Director for nearly two months in his interim role and the recognition, along with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, that the ATF was "weaponized" by the previous administration to carry out a radical gun control agenda. The firearm industry is confident that President Trump’s appointment of Acting Director Driscoll to lead the ATF will return the Bureau to its proper role as a law enforcement agency laser focused on combating violent crime and illegal firearms trafficking, and to act as a non-partisan regulator of the firearm industry.”

The ATF has faced growing criticism over its actions against gun owners and the gun industry. The appointment of Kash Patel as acting director and Robert Leider as chief counsel has given hope to the gun community that the ATF will curtail some of its infringements. Both gentlemen have a record of being pro-gun. Some changes have already been taking place, including repealing zero-tolerance policies and reviewing rules put into place under the last administration.

It is believed that Mr. Driscoll will keep reforming the Bureau and help implement President Donald Trump’s executive orders on Second Amendment issues. Kash Patel will remain the head of the FBI. There is no timeline for a permanent ATF director.
