Fear is a primal biological response to a perceived threat to our survival. Fear triggers momentary paralysis and then a fight or flight reaction before the brain can rationally analyze and calibrate our response to a perceived threat. 1
Right now, people around the world are living in fear of being infected or infecting someone else with a new coronavirus that can kill those most vulnerable without warning. Along with confusion and uncertainty, which prolongs fear, many of us are traumatized by the authoritarian measures governments have taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that began in China in late 2019.
The “new normal” is disorienting, like we have taken a hit to the gut and then to the head that we didn’t see coming. Maybe that is why so many Americans, who value freedom of speech, religion, assembly, privacy and the right to work, have given those constitutional rights up, without stopping to think through the ramifications of the larger precedent being set.
We are slowly coming out of shock five months after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control declared a public health emergency on January 31, 2 which escalated six weeks later into a social distancing lockdown when the World Health Organization declared a COVID-19 pandemic on March 11. 3
Questions About the Lockdown Response to COVID-19 Pandemic
There are lots of questions being asked now about whether the lockdown response to the new coronavirus has matched the threat, questions like:
Why did the U.S. fail to immediately screen people at sea ports and airports for illness as soon as the outbreak was identified in China and got worse in February so they could be quarantined and tested? 45678
At the beginning of the pandemic, why were Americans told masks were useless and to stop buying and wearing them, when now we are told we must wear masks? 9101112
Why were U.S. emergency supply warehouses, which were supposed to be stocked with pandemic preparedness equipment for health care workers, completely empty? 13
Why were residents of nursing homes and other crowded medical facilities not effectively screened and tested to make sure the sick were not being housed with the healthy? 14151617
Why did U.S. public health officials persuade lawmakers to almost immediately lockdown and home quarantine most of our population,18 instead of using traditional disease control measures that identify, quarantine and treat the sick? 19202122
Opening Up Conversation About Science, Health and Liberty in the U.S.
As we let go of fear and return to rational thinking, it is opening up a public conversation about science, health and liberty that is going viral, despite attempts by Big Pharma and Big Tech working with governments and mainstream media to censor it.2324252627
In the United States of America, we live in a constitutional republic where democratically elected representatives make laws, and state governments are a check and balance on the authority of the federal government. 28
American values and beliefs, which have influenced the adoption of human rights in international law,29303132 are embedded in the 1776 Declaration of Independence 33 and codified in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. 34
Americans value autonomy and individuality. We believe each person is a unique and independent individual with an inalienable right to life and liberty.35
We value the human right to freedom of thought, expression and belief; freedom of conscience and association; and respect for privacy – all civil liberties that limit the power of government. 36
We value equal opportunity for all and mobility within society based on individual initiative and hard work, not on hierarchy, inherited privilege or government permission. 37
We are a pragmatic and adaptable people who value the use of common sense and practical solutions to problem solve, achieve and succeed. 38
We are a generous people and believe that voluntarily helping others by donating our money and time is a personal choice motivated by charity, not by communal expectation or a legal requirement. 39
Above all, we are a self-reliant, optimistic people with an indomitable spirit and faith in our ability to overcome adversity individually and as a nation. 404142
Some of the core values, which have shaped our history and defined who we are as a nation, have been put on trial in 2020 because we are paralyzed by fear of a virus that doctors say could be hiding in the breath of every person who comes near us and contaminate everything we touch. 4344 Often described in military and apocalyptic terms as a war for human survival against an “invisible enemy,” 45464748 the authoritarian lockdown approach by governments to the coronavirus pandemic has been framed as a choice between safety and liberty.
In horror, we watched the coronavirus pandemic unfold in February 2020 with Chinese officials either chasing citizens suspected of being infected with the virus into the streets and dragging them away to quarantine camps, or using hammers, nails and blocks of wood to barricade families into their apartments. 49505152 Then, after scientists and U.S. public health officials used mathematical models to warn lawmakers to lock down the U.S. or prepare for between 1.7 and 2.2 million Americans to die of COVID-19, 535455 we were filled with an uncommon fear and uncertainty that continues to haunt our lives.
The Fear of Entering Public Spaces and Getting Too Close to Each Other
As most states emerge from months of quarantining people in their homes and shuttering businesses,56 many Americans are still afraid to enter a public space because we are warned over and over again that the invisible enemy will kill us if we don’t stay six feet away from each other at all times, even outdoors. 57 Parents have been urged not to hug their children if a member in their family has been exposed to the virus. 58 In one city, government officials told residents to take photos and report fellow citizens who violate social distancing rules by getting too close to each other outside.59
We see fellow Americans be arrested for not wearing masks, 6061 or walking on deserted beaches, 6263 or for taking their children to empty playgrounds. 6465 Small business owners, who are struggling to feed their families, are being sent to jail for re-opening without government permission. 66 Food banks are running out of food because families, who have never stood in a food bank line in their lives, have no other choice. 67
It doesn’t feel right, but most of us comply with the new rules, afraid to be the one who gets a dirty look or is yelled at or arrested – or worse – if we don’t comply.
COVID-19 Mortality Estimates Far Exceed Reality
Since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 and CDC officials predicted it could kill 1.7 million Americans, by May 22, there had been 335,000 COVID-19 reported deaths among the world’s seven billion people with about 96,000 of those deaths reported in the U.S. How the death toll would have been affected if global lockdowns had not taken place to try to slow the infection rate and delay population based herd immunity will be debated for years to come.
Although the vast majority of COVID-19 infections are thought to be asymptomatic, data shows the estimated symptomatic infection-mortality rate in America is currently at most 1.3 percent. 70717273About 90 percent of people who die are over 65 years old, with the majority of those people suffering with one or more chronic poor health conditions like heart or lung disease, obesity, diabetes and hypertension.74 More than 80 percent of children who die from COVID-19 also suffer with chronic illness and disabilities like immune suppression, obesity, diabetes, seizures, developmental delays and genetic disorders. 7576
We all hope to live long and productive lives but nobody escapes death and, for some, it comes sooner than expected. The sudden unexpected death of a person for any reason is a tragedy, especially for that person’s family and friends. The deaths of tens of thousands during this pandemic or any pandemic is a tragedy. The feelings of loss and helplessness are magnified when individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 die alone, separated from their families, denied the comfort of taking their last breath in the company of people they love and who love them.77
Are We Really All in This Together?
Whether the new coronavirus jumped out of an animal in a Chinese live food market 78 or escaped from a biohazard lab, 7980whether the virus kills an estimated one to two percent of those symptomatically infected or far less, 81 this year billions of people around the world have followed the advice of the World Health Organization, government health agencies and doctors, who tell us that this “invisible common enemy” must be vanquished using any means possible because, collectively, “we are all in this together.” 82
Public health officials have persuaded lawmakers to divide the American people into two classes: those who are considered “essential” and allowed to continue working and those who are considered “non-essential” and barred from earning a living. 83848586 Small businesses and services judged to be “non-essential” have been forced to close their doors, including daycares, schools, churches, restaurants, theaters, barber shops and salons, gyms, parks and beaches while, paradoxically, everyone is free to roam through grocery stores, drug stores and big box stores like Walmart, Target and Home Depot owned by big corporations.
The Mass Suffering Generated by Widespread “Sheltering in Place”
Tens of millions of healthy Americans have obeyed orders to “shelter in place” and self-quarantine at home for months, sacrificing their jobs and losing their savings, 878889destroying one third of the small businesses middle class citizens have worked a lifetime to build, 9091while parts of the travel, 9293949596restaurant, 97 retail 9899and personal care industries 100 go bankrupt. By the end of May, there were more than 38 million Americans unemployed, representing almost 24 percent of the labor force, and most of them are low hourly wage earners who don’t have savings to pay the rent or buy food while they are out of work. 101102103
So the homeless rate in the U.S. is projected to increase by 45 percent this year, with almost one million people homeless by the summer.104 At the same time, Congress is driving up the national debt in an attempt to delay the complete collapse of our economy by using taxpayer money to pay people to stay away from each other. 105
Fear of a virus has prevented people sick with heart disease, cancer and other health problems from being treated in hospitals that have been told to only treat patients infected with COVID-19. 106107 Neglected children and battered women have been trapped for months in homes with their abusers, while calls to mental health hotlines from depressed, anxiety-ridden and suicidal children and adults have increased by nearly 900 percent 108109110111 and, in some cities, prison inmates – even those charged with violent crimes – are being released from jail with the justification they should not be exposed to COVID-19. 112113
With our children locked out of classrooms and the faithful blocked from worshipping in churches, synagogues and mosques, fear has stopped most of us from publicly questioning the premise that the price of safety is liberty. 114115116117118119
Few have challenged the mantra repeated over and over again by doctors and politicians in positions of power that this dystopian reality we are now living in will be the “new normal” 120 until we are all tested and everyone is vaccinated when a COVID-19 vaccine is available because then, and only then, will it be “safe” for government to give back at least some of the liberty that has been taken from us. 121122123124125
What we have allowed to be done in the name of public health has no parallel in American history or human history.
No Lockdowns for Past Epidemics and Pandemics
The world did not lock down during centuries of epidemics of smallpox, which was a highly contagious virus and had a case fatality rate of 30 percent. 126 Americans did not stop working to prevent epidemics of diphtheria when that contagious disease swept through communities in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with a mortality rate of between 5 and 10 percent that was even higher for children. 127 Societies have not closed businesses and schools to prevent tuberculosis, a contagious disease that spreads the same way as coronavirus and has a case fatality rate still between 20 and 70 percent. 128129
In 1918, state Governors did not order healthy people to shelter in place and put tens of millions of Americans out of work during the Spanish Flu Pandemic, when that highly contagious H1N1 influenza virus had a case fatality rate of more than 2.5 percent.130
So why are the majority of people in educated societies like the U.S. cowering in fear before a virus that does not cause any symptoms or complications in the majority of children and adults under the age of 65, and has a mortality rate of about one percent, which is even lower if all the asymptomatic infections are counted? 131
In America, why are we allowing fear to erode cultural values and beliefs that have sustained and defined who we are as a nation for 245 years?
1982: The Challenge to Vaccine Science, Policy, Law and Ethics
The profound ramifications of what is happening this year in the name of public health and the slippery slope that has been created is expanding the conversation about science, health and liberty that has been going on for several centuries in academic, philosophical and political circles, 132133134135136137 but didn’t go public in post-World War II America until 1982, when parents of vaccine injured children challenged the science, policy, law and ethics of mandatory vaccination, the most revered of all medical interventions in the history of public health programs.138
Mothers and fathers, whose children died or were brain injured in the 1970s and 80s by the crude whole cell pertussis vaccine in DPT, had simple goals: we wanted safer vaccines, more and better quality scientific research to identify those children at high risk for being harmed by vaccination, and the inclusion of informed consent protections in public health policies and laws. 139140141142 At first, defensive vaccine manufacturers, public health officials and pediatricians met our request for safer vaccines and better science with anger and dismissal. 143 Before Congress passed the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act giving vaccine makers a partial liability shield but also acknowledging that vaccine safety should be a national priority, 144145 we were patronized. Then, when we refused to go away, we were demonized. 146147148149150
Today, any person who talks about their or their child’s vaccine reaction or criticizes one-size-fits-all vaccine policies is called ignorant. 151152 Any person who points out how low vaccine licensing standards are or how big the long standing gaps in vaccine safety research are, is accused of being a science denier and slapped with the “anti-vaxxer” label.153154
If you question the orders of doctors, who believe it is moral to enforce “no exceptions” vaccine laws that sacrifice vaccine vulnerable children in the name of the greater good, you are called “selfish” for defending the ethical principle of informed consent and refusing to offer up your child’s health for herd immunity. 155If you protest against vaccine policies that deny people an education, medical care and employment based on their vaccination status, you are called a danger to society. 156 If you criticize information disseminated by the CDC and World Health Organization, you are branded a threat to global health and can be censored on the Internet or far worse. 157158159160161
Strategies Creating a “New Normal” During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Does this sound familiar? It should, because it is the same rhetoric and political tactics being used during this COVID-19 pandemic to keep the people fearful and compliant.
It is the same strategy that will be used to label you a selfish threat to the public health if you don’t agree to be electronically tagged, tested and tracked by health officials when thousands of COVID-19 “contact tracers” fan out across America to test for COVID-19 infections. 162163164 It is the same strategy that will be used when you are told you must get an antibody test and obtain an “immunity passport” 165 before you are given back your freedom to participate in society – that is until a fast tracked coronavirus vaccine is licensed and your passport to life and liberty becomes proof you have received a COVID-19 vaccine – perhaps simultaneously delivered and tracked via a microneedle quantum dot tattoo on your skin. 166
Will a positive antibody test be accurate 167 or does it even matter? Every day, we hear scientists and public health officials arguing about whether or not naturally acquired coronavirus immunity means anything at all, 168169170171 while promoting the idea that a COVID-19 vaccine is the only thing that will give us immunity and save us all.172173
Tomorrow, the “new normal” in America may well include the order to “Show me your vaccine papers” before you can enter a store or restaurant, go to school, attend a football game, get on a plane, train or subway, obtain a driver’s license, be admitted to a hospital or nursing home, get a room at a hotel or walk on a public beach, if health policy and lawmakers do not use common sense to adopt a more balanced approach to dealing with a virus that, so far, has changed everything.
There is no oversight on the decisions we allow scientists and doctors with big titles and even bigger salaries to make for us, decisions that can affect the biological integrity of each one of us and profoundly impact the way we live our lives.
Yet, science is not perfect, doctors are not infallible, and the risks of having a complication to an infectious disease or a vaccine can be higher or lower depending upon the genes and epigenetic history we inherit, the environments we live in, and the life choices we make.
Health of a Society Defined by Absence of Chronic Disease and Disability
The health of a society is not solely measured by the absence of infectious disease but, more importantly, by the absence of chronic disease that destroys quality of life and lowers a nation’s life expectancy because it often leads to premature death.
In America every year, heart disease kills 647,000 people; lung disease kills 160,000; uncontrolled hypertension and stroke kills 146,000, and diabetes kills 83,000 people, while millions more suffer cancer and other types of immune and brain disorders. America has the worst life expectancy, the worst infant mortality and maternal mortality rates and the highest prevalence of chronic illness and disability of all developed nations in the world, even though we have one of the most highly vaccinated populations in the world, with over 94 percent of school children having received dozens of doses of vaccines for the past three decades.
Today, only four adults in 10 are considered healthy, while over 50 percent have one chronic disease and 30 percent suffer with two or more. An astonishing 25 percent of all children have a chronic poor health condition like asthma, epilepsy, food allergies, obesity, inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune disorders, developmental delays, autism, anxiety and depression, and diabetes.
In fact, chronic disease marked by unresolved inflammation in the body 201 202 is the Number One cause of death and disability in America and is responsible for most of the annual $3.5 trillion dollars spent on health care. 203 It is an epidemic that is crippling and killing far more people than COVID-19 or any other pandemic in our history.
U.S. public health officials have no explanation for why the majority of Americans are sick, except to blame the people for making themselves sick by smoking and drinking too much, eating junk food and not getting enough exercise or sleep. 204
COVID-19 Mortality in U.S. Impacted by Multiple Failures
Whether or not you buy that explanation, the fact that over 160 million people in our population are afflicted with chronic poor health may be at least one reason why there have been more COVID-19 related deaths reported in the U.S. than any other country. That, along with the fact that on March 24, the CDC told doctors and coroners to list COVID-19 as the official cause of death for a person, even if that person had one or more chronic health conditions or had never been tested for COVID-19. 205
Mortality from COVID-19 in the U.S. has also been impacted by the systematic neglect of well-funded federal health agencies like the CDC and BARDA. 206207 The government was caught totally unprepared for an influenza-like pandemic, despite Congress and three Administrations appropriating billions of dollars to federal health agencies since 2006 to prepare for a pandemic just like this one. 208 Instead, warehouses were left empty without emergency supplies of masks, gowns and gloves for health care workers 209 and without diagnostic tests, equipment and therapeutic agents to help patients survive complications associated with an epidemic of a viral respiratory disease like coronavirus. 210
That is because federal health agencies, which have forged public-private business partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry, 211 have given most of the money Congress handed them for pandemic planning to drug companies to build new vaccine manufacturing plants and produce more vaccines for the national stockpile. 212213 As the World Health Organization, the CDC, businessman Bill Gates and NIH’s Dr. Anthony Fauci keep telling us, using lots of vaccines is the best way to stay healthy and fast tracking a COVID-19 vaccine to market is the only way the world will ever be a safe place to live again 214215216
Corporations, Governments Cut Corners in Race to Develop COVID-19 Vaccines
So global pharmaceutical and biotech companies are now developing over 100 experimental COVID-19 vaccines, with a handful leading the race after being given billions of dollars in funding from the U.S. government, the Gates Foundation and other organizations. 217218 Some of these coronavirus vaccines being created by scientists will use as yet unlicensed DNA, messenger RNA and nanoparticle technology, oil based adjuvants and electricity, to genetically manipulate and hyperstimulate strong inflammatory immune responses in the body. 219220
Some companies are skipping animal trials, 221 which are an important part of the vaccine licensing process to answer questions about whether COVID-19 vaccines could cause neurological reactions or more severe coronavirus infections in vaccinated animals or fail to work at all. These are only a few of the short and long term problems that could have devastating consequences for humans being vaccinated.
Some companies are cutting corners by conducting Phase 1, 2 and 3 trials simultaneously, but will they investigate whether half of US adults and a quarter of children suffering with chronic illness are at increased risk for adverse responses to the new COVID-19 vaccines before they are licensed and mandated?
Other vaccine manufacturers want the green light to deliberately infect human clinical trial subjects with COVID-19 to see how well an experimental vaccine works. 222 Enthusiastic “bioethicists” are jumping on board to help advance this type of “new normal” in vaccine research, but parents of vaccine injured children are logically asking why it is ethical to intentionally infect humans with a new virus in a clinical trial when for decades public health officials have insisted that it is absolutely unethical to conduct a prospective clinical trial comparing health outcomes of vaccinated and unvaccinated children to determine whether vaccines are harming far more than “one in a million.” 223224
So, while we are being ordered to obey new rules that require us to give up our constitutional and human rights, drug companies and government health officials are violating old rules that govern ethics and the scientific method for proving that vaccines are safe and effective. 225
Jacobson v. Massachusetts: A Utilitarian Ruling by SCOTUS with Tragic Consequences
Science is not perfect, doctors are not infallible, and vaccines carry risks that can be greater for some than others, which is why voluntary vaccination should have been unanimously upheld in the 1905 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Jacobson v. Massachusetts. 226 Instead, the majority sitting on that high court more than a century ago viewed the notoriously reactive smallpox vaccine as a sacred cow and medical doctors as infallible so they could affirm the constitutional authority of state legislatures to mandate smallpox vaccinations during outbreaks. The Court said:
“The matured opinions of medical men everywhere, and the experience of mankind, as all must know, negative the suggestion that it is not possible in any case to determine whether vaccination is safe.”
Using bad logic and bad science while leaning heavily on the pseudo-ethic of utilitarianism, state governments were given the green light to legally require vaccination based on a “common belief” that vaccination is safe and effective, rather than proven fact. Piously waving the greater good flag to justify throwing civil liberties out the door, the Court majority ruled that citizens do not have a legal right to be free at all times because there are “manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subjected for the common good.”
The Court said that state legislatures can exercise police power to restrict or eliminate civil liberties, including freedom of religion, during public health emergencies in order to “secure the general comfort, health and prosperity of the state.”
But the justices also warned that mandatory vaccination laws should not be forced on a person whose physical condition would make vaccination “cruel and inhuman to the last degree.” They said:
“We are not to be understood as holding that the statute was intended to be applied in such a case or, if it was so intended, that the judiciary would not be competent to interfere and protect the health and life of the individual concerned. ‘All laws,’ this Court has said, “should receive a sensible construction.”
One academic activist attorney has said that the 1905 Jacobson ruling “is often regarded as the most important judicial decision in public health.” That is not an overstatement because, in 1927, Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendall Holmes used it to issue a eugenics ruling in Buck v. Bell that affirmed the constitutional authority of Virginia to forcibly sterilize a young woman mistakenly judged by state officials to be mentally retarded.228
Justice Holmes declared, “The principle that sustains compulsory vaccination is broad enough to cover cutting the fallopian tubes,” leading the way for mass sterilization of tens of thousands of Americans that doctors and government officials judged to be genetically defective, or morally unfit or otherwise a threat to the public health during the 1920s and 30s.
This is the tragic legacy of Jacobson v. Masschusetts, 230 an immoral utilitarian ruling that public health officials cling to in order to justify legally requiring people to use vaccines that carry a risk of injury or death and applying societal punishments for refusing to do it. 231232
State Legislators Primarily Make Most Public Health Laws
During this time of fear and confusion, the Jacobson ruling also reminds us that it is democratically elected representatives in state legislatures who make public health laws governing people living in different states. That is because what is not defined in the US Constitution as a federal activity is reserved for the states, which is an important check on federal government power. Elected lawmakers in your state can choose to mandate a few or many vaccines with or without exemptions, while the federal government has the authority to mandate vaccinations for people entering the U.S. or crossing state borders. 233
It was this understanding that prompted NVIC in 2010 to launch our free online Advocacy Portal at NVICAdvocacy.org that monitors proposed vaccine-related legislation and helps Americans educate lawmakers so flexible medical, religious and conscience vaccine exemptions can be secured and protected in public health laws. Despite aggressive lobbying efforts by vaccine manufacturers, public health officials and medical trade groups, until 2020, vaccine exemptions and informed consent rights have been successfully defended in multiple states over past decade, even though California, New York and several other states have taken those rights away. 234
Now, it looks like voluntary vaccination will be on the line in every state as the Vaccine Culture War, 235 which is the tip of the spear in a much larger culture war about values and beliefs going on in this and many other countries in the 21st century, is brought home to every person and every community in America.
Contact Your Legislators Now and Vote in November
You have an opportunity, right now, to contact your elected representatives and let them know how you feel about protecting civil liberties and vaccine informed consent rights in your state. Sign up to use NVIC’s Advocacy Portal to defend voluntary vaccine choices.
And when you go to the polls on November 4, 2020, think hard about who you are voting for and why. If you don’t like the response to the COVID-19 pandemic that your Governor or other elected representatives have made, your vote in this and every election beyond this one could affect whether America will continue to value liberty or throw it away.
Because if the state can tag, track down and force individuals to be injected with biologicals of known and unknown toxicity today, then there will be no limit on which individual freedoms the state can take away in the name of the greater good tomorrow.
Be the one who never has to say you did not do today what you could have done to change tomorrow.
It’s your health, your family, your choice, and our mission continues:
No forced vaccination. Not in America.

One week ago, YouTube banned me for a week and gave my channel a strike for “hate speech.” The video that was labeled “hate speech,” however, is a brief discussion of the persecution of Christians in various parts of the world. After submitting two appeals, and having both appeals rejected, we can only conclude that YouTube is banning videos for reporting Christian persecution, and that YouTube has therefore declared war on Christians.

Public School or Homeschool?—How Public Schools Are Corrupting Children’s Values
By Maria Kneas and Berit Kjos
Part One—True-Life Examples at America’s Public Schools
By Maria Kneas
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
Children spend about six hours every weekday—which is about half of their waking hours—in school. Some of those remaining waking hours are spent doing homework. Thus, it is safe to say that children’s school experience is one of the most, if not the most, major influences in their lives. So, it stands to reason that parents should be aware of what their children’s school is teaching them. This booklet you are about to read capsulates how America’s public schools are using deceptive and dangerous tactics to change the values and behaviors of children in their care. And thus, the question every parent should ask—public school or homeschool?
For generations, American children have been taught humanist beliefs and values in public schools. Christian morals have been undermined by values clarification and other techniques. This has caused a radical change in the beliefs and moral values of children in this country.1
The psychological brainwashing techniques used on our children have resulted in children accepting alternative values as opposed to having them reach those decisions rationally. In a 1993 Forbes magazine article titled “Indoctrinating the Children,” Dr. Thomas Sowell recognized this was taking place:
The techniques of brainwashing developed in totalitarian countries are routinely used in psychological conditioning programs imposed on American school children.2
In stark contrast, Dr. Chester M. Pierce, once a professor of Educational Psychiatry at Harvard University, stated that American children are “insane” because they are loyal to America, to their parents, and to their belief in God. He said it is the job of teachers to heal these “sick children” by turning them into the “international children of the future.”3
Dr. Paul Brandwein, a leading child psychologist, evidently agrees with Dr. Pierce. In his book, The Social Sciences, Dr. Brandwein said, “Every child who believes in God is mentally ill.”4 This must have a practical impact on our education system because government schools have psychologists.
For years, the National Education Association (NEA) has been promoting sex education with the goal of radically changing how students think about sex.5 Sometimes, the results are drastic enough to make the news. One such case was reported in an article in October 2019 stating that an Austin, Texas school district will teach children as early as sixth grade about oral and anal sex, and this includes role playing. The children will also pretend to have sex when they are drunk and will pretend to put a condom on somebody. In addition, the homosexual and transgender agenda will be integrated into the children’s lives. The article explains:
As detailed by Texas Values, the curriculum discourages gender-specific language like “mother” and “father” because it “can limit [children’s] understanding of gender into binaries,” [it] encourages children to attend LGBT “pride” rallies and explore other ways to become LGBT “allies.”6
A 16-year-old girl at a Colorado high school was required to role play getting raped in front of her classmates. She was also required to read out loud a poem which has such an indecent attitude towards sex that I cannot describe it here in this booklet. That poem is full of four-letter words. The girl was traumatized by having to do these things in front of her classmates.7
The NEA has also been promoting “death education,” with a goal to change thinking about death as radically as they were able to change thinking about sex. Do you remember that shooting at Columbine? Prior to that horrific shooting by two teens, for years that school had been teaching death education.8
Some schools even have a “suicide talking day.” On that day, students write suicide notes. They write their own obituaries and discuss what they will look like in their caskets. One student said that before “suicide talking day,” she never considered the possibility of suicide. After that day, she began to contemplate it. She thought it would “liberate her spirit” so that it would no longer be “enslaved to her body.” In addition, it would help with the problem of global overpopulation. She said that the suicide training made her “brave enough” to commit suicide.9
In 2019, a 13-year-old girl in Kansas was asked to indicate which students she would kill if she wanted to kill five students in her class. She pointed at four of them and at herself. While pointing, her hand was in the shape of a “finger gun” (the index finger pointing and the thumb raised). Because of that, her teacher took her to the principal. That girl was handcuffed, arrested, and taken to a juvenile detention center. The girl was charged with committing a felony.10
Public schools are also promoting occultism. There is a reading series called “Impressions” that is used in the second and third grades of some public schools. It teaches the students how to cast spells. One of the exercises is to pretend that some children have had a magician cast a spell on them. In order to help the children, it is necessary to reverse that spell. The students are told to write the spell that the magician used and then write another spell to reverse it. Then they are told to chant their spells. By making them chant the spells, the teacher is requiring them to do role playing. They are taking on the role of a sorcerer or a witch.11
Some public schools teach reincarnation. This is contrary to Scripture. The Bible says that we die once (as opposed to being recycled), and then we are judged (Hebrews 9:27). One student said that death was portrayed as being glamorous and living was portrayed as being hard. She said students were taught that reincarnation would solve their problems, because they would return in a better life form and eventually they would “become like God.”12
This teaching makes death look like a helpful friend, instead of an enemy. Therefore, it could make some vulnerable students become more likely to commit suicide or murder.
Seventh grade students in California were required to study Islam for three weeks. This included mandatory role playing. The students had to pretend they were Muslims. They prayed to Allah, chanted praises to Allah, and adopted Muslim names. They played a game that simulated a jihad (a holy war against enemies of Islam), and they planned a pilgrimage to Mecca. Students were encouraged to dress like Muslims and to use Muslim phrases. They were required to memorize Muslim prayers. During Ramadan, they had to fast at lunchtime. Teachers told the students that, while they were taking this intensive course about Islam, they would “become Muslims.” The textbook about Islam did not mention Islamic conquest or Islamic violence against Jews. The Muslim religion was only shown in a good light.13 You can be sure you will not find a public school in this country that would permit Christianity in the same scenario.
Some public schools have After School Satan Clubs. These are being promoted by the Satanic Temple. As of October 2016, there were clubs in Washington D.C., Arizona, Missouri, Washington, Utah, Florida, California, and Georgia. In addition, the Satanic Temple in Portland, Oregon got permission to have a club at an elementary school there.14
Part Two—Understanding Values Clarification and How It Destroys Values and Behavior
By Berit Kjos
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:33-34)
Should schools teach values? They inevitably do. So, the essential question is: Whose values?
Years ago, history books presented honorable heroes who modeled faith, courage, honesty, and integrity. Elementary readers introduced children to memorable characters who demonstrated genuine love, not a fleeting loving feeling, but the deep, laying-down-your-life kind of love that is so often ridiculed today.
A daring curriculum replaced those former virtues, while carefully combing through textbooks for any trace of biblical bent. Curriculum change agents made sure literature was free from “biased” words like wife, husband, or marriage and hunted for books that emphasized what they considered reality and relevance by modeling adultery, homosexuality, dishonesty, and drug abuse.
Called “values clarification,” this “progressive” program challenges our children to defend or deny all the cherished goals and guidelines of earlier days. It insists that the only true values are those a child chooses himself in response to his immediate needs, desires, and circumstances. It tells him, “Do your own thing!” The result is a growing social chaos among people who, like Israel during the time of the Judges, do what is “right in [their] own eyes” (Judges 17:6 and Judges 21:25).
A mother from Kenosha, Wisconsin felt the painful effects of what her children were learning in school:
By the time my first two children had reached third grade, I realized something was wrong. The child I took to school in the morning was not the child I picked up after school in the afternoon. If this change had been a positive change, reflecting academic progress, I would have been delighted. However, the change I noticed was in their value system. They seemed to be desensitized to the morals I had been trying to instill in them as their mother, and I thought that I had failed. . . .
I failed because I had assumed the schools my children were attending were like the schools I had attended.
I found instead that the thrust of schools had turned from education to indoctrination. I found the values I instilled in my children were not reinforced or respected by the schools, but were systematically challenged in the classroom.15
Spreading like cancer, this values transformation extends from the very core of our educational system to all its parts. In the name of progress, it promotes a self-centered kind of freedom from commitment and self-control.
Junior and senior high school students in Michigan were told to relax and “fantasize” in order to design a device for birth control “they would enjoy using.” They were to discuss the criteria used for planning and the advantages of one design over another. Finally, they compared their design with existing contraceptives.16 This scenario took place over thirty years ago; you can imagine how much worse it is today.
What do students learn from this kind of exercise? The answer lies in the common goals of the humanist NEA, the New Age movement, and Planned Parenthood—three social forces that have surged forward together, dead-set on accomplishing their purpose. All three of these groups saw the need to break free of “traditional” and “religious” authority that hampers the desires of young people for sexual expression and activity according to whatever proclivity and lifestyle they desire. As Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger put it, sex is the “radiant force” enabling mankind to “attain the great spiritual illumination which will transform the world, which will light up the only path to an earthly paradise.”17
Such hedonistic philosophy cannot bring fulfillment. Instead, it stirs insatiable cravings. Luring children into this sensuous, self-centered lifestyle is Satan’s most effective way of turning them away from God. If they embrace sin, they cannot see God’s glory (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Back to “Nature”
Humanism inflamed the intellectual community because it mirrored what they already believed. Likewise, Darwin’s theory of evolution became an instant hit because he put a plausible “scientific” framework around a myth that had already found acceptance—thus validating it. This explains why “creative” scientists could produce a full-bodied drawing of their mythological missing link from fractions of bones and get away with it. Though admittedly false, the familiar monkey-to-man line-up may remain in textbooks—as if true—until evolutionists find better “proof” for their popular beliefs. The probabilities of chance-evolution have been likened to that of a tornado sweeping through a scrap yard and accidentally forming a Boeing jet.
Far more than an attempt to explain origins, evolution has become a social philosophy—the way to view all of life. Evolutionists see man simply as a higher form of animal. Since we train animals to serve society, why not use psychological techniques like behavior modification in the classroom? Why not “free” children to exercise their natural instincts, satisfy their evolving animal nature, and thereby fulfill their human potential?
Humanist goals have not changed since Darwin’s days. In fact, the educators who signed the Humanist Manifesto II in 1973 stressed a “natural” and evolutionary way of life:
In the area of sexuality, we believe that intolerant attitudes, often cultivated by orthodox religions and puritanical cultures, unduly repress sexual conduct. The right to birth control, abortion, and divorce should be recognized . . . Moral education for children and adults is an important way of developing awareness and sexual maturity.18
Even before the signing of the revised manifesto, two innovative humanists, William Glasser and Sidney Simon, showed the way to implement it. Published in 1969, Dr. Glasser’s book, Schools Without Failure, presented a “daring new program”19: The class, led by the teacher, would become a counseling group. Somehow, by airing uncomfortable circumstances and feelings each day, this encounter group was supposed to teach social responsibility and solve behavioral problems. Consider the effect of this suggestion by Dr. Glasser:
Children will often become very personal, talking about subjects that ordinarily are considered private. . . . The teacher should keep in mind that in class meetings, free discussion seems to be beneficial and that adult anxieties are often excessive. Nevertheless, a child who discusses drunken brawls at home might quietly be asked to talk about something that has more relationship to school.
Changing the subject in this way is sometimes unwise, however because it is just those drunken brawls at home that have the most relationship to his school progress.20
Professor Sidney Simon went a step further. His book, Values Clarification—A Handbook of Practical Strategies for Teachers and Students, is packed with classroom exercises which filtered into textbooks and public schools. A popular strategy called values voting is “a simple and very rapid means by which every student in the class can make a public affirmation on a variety of values issues.”21
The teacher simply asks a question. The students respond affirmatively by raising their hands. They give a negative reply by pointing their thumbs down. If undecided, they fold their arms. To pass, they do nothing. After the teacher has asked about ten questions, the class discusses the answers. Each child is forced to take a public stand—even if he passes. Imagine the effect of this kind of peer pressure on a child who feels insecure.
The teacher asks, “How many of you:
. . . think there are times when cheating is justified?”
. . . regularly attend religious services and enjoy it?”
. . . think that women should stay home and be primarily wives and mothers?”
. . . would like to have a secret lover?”22
Simon recommends this list for all ages. For secondary students, he adds questions such as: “How many of you think sex education instruction in the schools should include techniques for lovemaking, contraception?” and “How many of you think you will continue to practice religion, just like your parents?23
Clarifying Values Clarification
Parents and teachers across the nation have agonized over the emotional damage caused by the psychological manipulations of values clarification. In response to their outcry, the Department of Education held hearings in seven locations across the country to implement the Protection of Pupil Rights (Hatch) Amendment of 1978 (modified in 2001). Hundreds of parents testified at the hearings held in Seattle, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Phoenix, Orlando, Concord (New Hampshire), and Washington, D.C. An amazing book written by Phyllis Schlafly in 1988 titled Child Abuse in the Classroom reported violations from the official transcripts of the proceedings. They fell into these categories:
Bias against Christian values. A mother from Oregon, whose son became “very confused as to the rightness or wrongness of stealing,” shared this testimony:
Young children are expected to fill in sentences such as, “the trouble with being honest is ______.” They are asked, what would be the hardest thing for you to do: “steal, cheat, or lie?”
This question was discussed in the third grade: “How many of you ever wanted to beat up your parents?”24
Bias toward humanist/New Age values. A first-grade lesson in “sex equality” shows the cruel pressure to conform.
The students each had two naked dolls, one male, the other female. They were asked to dress the dolls in work clothing to show that both genders could work at any job. . . . there were no dresses. All clothing was male-oriented. Then the teacher had the students sit in a circle while she pulled out objects from a sack, like a pancake turner or a tape measure. She asked, “Who uses this, mom or dad?”
If the students did not answer the way she had wanted, she would say, “Well, who else uses this?” Finally one little boy raised his hand and said, “I don’t care. Men ought to be doctors and ladies nurses.”
The teacher then asked how many of the students agreed with him. By the tone of her voice, they knew no one should raise a hand, so no one did. The little boy was so humiliated by the peer pressure and class manipulation . . . that he started to cry.25
Striving with religious zeal to convert children to “moral relativism” or “situational ethics,” humanist educators argue that anything other than “value-free” teaching is religion. To them, only values that fit man’s desires are valid. For if man is his own god, he has divine authority to choose his own rights and wrongs. Frequent changes in terminology block the kind of “clarification” that exposes the mental manipulation. Programs might be called “values education,” “self-awareness,” “decision-making,” “self-acceptance,” or “interpersonal relationship skills.”
Values clarification is neutral, argues Simon, since every value is as valid as any other. To him, the only wrong position is one that believes in absolute values—and therefore opposes his belief that all values are relative.26
Parents from New Jersey “could not find . . . in any of the hypothetical situations, a single portrayal of parents in a positive manner. Parents were shown to be overreaching, nagging, unfair, and overcritical of their children’s friends.” No wonder many children are confused about values, question their faith, and resist their parents.27
Another popular technique described in Child Abuse in the Classroom makes home problems the focus of classroom discussion:
Earlier this year, my fifth grader came home from school telling me about a new classroom activity called Magic Circle. . . . He told me the children sit in a circle and tell each other positive and negative things about each other. The teacher is not a trained psychologist, and this type of group therapy can be harmful to a child if done improperly.
I also resent the probing questions asked by the teacher in this setting:
“How many of you have unemployed parents?”
“How many of you have divorced parents?”
“If any of you are abused sexually, I want you to tell me, because by law I have to report it.”
One mother summarized her feelings, “I consider this curriculum an invasion of family privacy, a subtle effort to erode all authority and undermine the traditional values that have made this nation great.28
Many of the ways schools gain private information about the home life of its students are so subtle they escape notice. Often personal projects are hidden in curriculum that appears unrelated, such as physical education, English, or history. A teacher in the Lansing, Michigan school district observed:
Students are all treated as in need or as having problems. Children are being pre-tested, then subjected to an affective [relating to feelings] values program as treatment for the disturbed child; then the child is post-tested to see what measurement of change has been produced by the affective values program.
No parent has ever been notified or allowed to view the materials, nor have they ever consented to psychological diagnosis or treatment by an unlicensed psychologist or a psychiatrist. The children have even been promised that their parents won’t be allowed to see their answers, “so be honest.”29
Peer pressure is used for conforming children to group standards—or to the values of the more popular students.
In 2013, I wrote a booklet titled A “Common Core” For a Global Community: What’s in Store for the Education of Today’s Children?. In that booklet, I stated:
I came across a headline that illustrates the corrupt values and shameless propaganda behind UNESCO’s Common Core indoctrination. The headline read: “Students Asked to ‘Argue That Jews Are Evil’ and Prove Nazi Loyalty in Assignment Linked to Common Core.” In other words, traditional values are out! Shocking propaganda is in! . . .
The goal of education has changed! Our public schools no longer teach the kind of literacy, history, math, and morality we once considered essential to responsible citizenship. The new agenda infiltrating our schools is designed to train a new generation of postmodern “progressive” students to believe whatever might serve a pre-determined “common good.”
If their educators succeed, tomorrow’s students will have neither the facts nor the freedom needed for independent thinking. Their “common core” will be based on a global collective agenda, not on Western democracy or Christian values. Like Nazi youth, they will be taught to react, not think, when nudged to do the unthinkable.30
If you want to gain some understanding about Common Core, I encourage every parent who has a child in public school to order the booklet. It’s also available to read for free on my publisher’s blog.
Part Three—What Can Parents Do?
By Maria Kneas
The scenarios we have described in this booklet are just a fraction of what has been happening in public schools. Children, from the moment they walk through the school doors in kindergarten (and even preschool), are being transformed and their values corrupted with ideologies that promote and encourage homosexuality, evolution, atheism, transgenderism, suicide, abortion, rebellion against parents, sexual promiscuity, occultism, and New age meditation (partly through the mindfulness programs now in most public schools). Are we saying that every public school teacher is part of this agenda? No, there are Christian teachers in the schools who are trying to have a truly positive and godly influence on children, but, for most of them, their hands are tied in just how much they can share; if they don’t go along with the curriculum and school districts’ plans, they’ll be out of a job.
How can such things happen here in America? It’s being done incrementally, in small continual steps, over a long period of time as this booklet shows. It’s part of the anti-biblical, anti-Christian agenda of modern “progressive” education. This was promoted by John Dewey (the “father” of modern education), and it continues to be promoted by the National Education Association.
When incrementalism is combined with values clarification, sex education, death education, and in more recent years, occultism, the result is a deadly onslaught against the faith and morals of children from Christian homes. It also puts incredible stress and confusion on children as they experience daily the vast contrast and conflict between home life and school life. Values clarification denies the reality of good and evil, and it gets school children to make immoral decisions. Those immoral decisions often involve sex and death. This is a pressure that no child should have to undergo.
Hitler said, “He alone who owns the youth gains the future,” and he developed the Hitler Youth in order to indoctrinate the children into complying with his agenda. The communists did the same thing with the Young Pioneers. Today’s progressives also know that in order to take over our culture, they have to change the thinking of our children. The apostle Peter warned us:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
We need to be vigilant to protect our children from being devoured by those who are out to destroy their faith and their morals.
The most obvious way to avoid exposing your children to the corruption in our public schools is to homeschool them. Instead of handing over your children for six or seven hours a day to teachers, curriculums, and administrations who have purposed in their hearts to alter their values, Christian parents can be the ones who are the greatest influencers of their children’s lives.
Thus far, we still live in a country where parents are legally allowed to homeschool. Some parents may feel they are not qualified to homeschool, but there are many excellent Christian resources available, both online and in print. There are also organizations that help homeschoolers and their parents. Plus, many communities have very active homeschool groups, which provide group activities and support for parents. Interestingly, during the 2020 “coronavirus pandemic,” schools worldwide were shut down, forcing children to school at home. Parents were now having to do what many had feared they would never know how to do. One article describes one such family from Australia:
Arianwen Harris used to joke that homeschooling was her “worst nightmare.” “I’ve never wanted to homeschool . . . I just never thought it was something that I would be capable of doing.”31
Now, this family has decided to continue homeschooling even after the schools re-open seeing how her children are thriving since being home taught.
When you stop and think about it, the widespread attempt to undermine the faith and morals of our children is actually a form of persecution. It’s not as obvious as slaughtering people and burning churches, but the goal is the same—to wipe out Christianity and replace it with something else. In my book How to Prepare for Hard Times and Persecution, I discuss these things while offering helpful biblical antidotes.
For families where homeschooling is simply not an option, parents can send their children to private Christian schools. But beware, and do your homework—even some private Christian schools have bought into the cultural lies permeating our society today. Churches can deceive people, and so can schools.
Some say that children from Christian homes should attend public school so they can be a light and a witness to their unbelieving classmates. That’s certainly something to consider. But for that to work, parents would need to devote possibly as many active participative hours in a week with their child as he or she is spending at school. That would be roughly thirty hours a week (four plus hours a day) teaching, praying with, and counteracting the influence of the secular school with no guarantee that the schools won’t win your child to their side. The facts speak differently with story after story of children from Christian homes either forsaking the faith of their parents or at least being severely traumatized by the deluge of ungodly teaching and influence found in the public schools.
What we have shared with you in this booklet is heavy and certainly could be cause for despair. And apart from God, we have every reason to be discouraged. But God is greater than the social, political, and spiritual forces corrupting our world, and we know that our Redeemer lives. Someday, we will live in a Holy land with our King. He has promised this to those who name the name of Jesus Christ. In the meantime, let us remember that in the light of His sufficiency, we can face unafraid the future of our children, and we can pray daily for His wisdom and His guidance in the way in which we should go.
And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (Isaiah 58:11)
In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. (Proverbs 14: 26)
Above all, we need to pray, and keep on praying. And we need to keep reading the Bible and be serious about basing our lives and our practical decisions on what the Bible says. Remember that, as parents, it is ultimately our responsibility to see that our children are brought up in the ways of the Lord; when fostered with truth and grace, the homeschooling experience may be the most loving option for our children.
A Few Resources for Homeschool Families
While we are providing the following resources, please always do your own research and use discernment no matter what resources you are using. As the Bible tells us, we are to be bereans (Acts 17:10-11) and to test all things to make sure they line up with God’s Word.
There are many different homeschool curriculums available today. Some have been around for a long time and have proven to be trustworthy, effective, and easy to use (e.g., Abeka, BJU Press, Switched on Schoolhouse by Alpha Omega Publications, LIFEPAC by Alpha Omega Publications, and A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education). There are some free programs available as well. (Regarding a very popular homeschool program, Classical Conversations, we have some strong concerns about it.32)
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) defends the rights of parents to “direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms.” They have e-newsletters and their website gives information about homeschool laws by state (https://hslda.org/content). The site also has curriculum reviews, which are helpful when choosing a curriculum.
A few helpful books on homeschooling are 102 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum (Duffy), What Your Child Needs to Know and When (Sampson) and Educating the Wholehearted Child (Clarkson). Disclaimer: By listing these books, we are not necessarily giving an endorsement. As with everything, use discernment, and weigh everything you read with Scripture. An excellent resource is Berit Kjos’ book, How to Protect Your Child From the New Age and Spiritual Deception, which offers many practical and biblical ideas.
If you are going to homeschool your children, we commend you. Pray for discernment so you can spot curriculum or materials that do not line up with God’s Word. Just because a curriculum is advertised as Christian homeschool curriculum does not necessarily mean it has biblical standards. Today, there are curriculums that promote all kinds of false and dangerous teachings (e.g., legalism, Calvinism, New age meditation practices such as mindfulness and centering prayer, and Word-Faith). If you are not sure how to recognize false teachings, we encourage you to read some of the Lighthouse Trails topical booklets. They are inexpensive and cover a vast array of vital issues. Before you choose your homeschool curriculum, research, ask questions, find reviews, and most of all, pray.

We thank God for His revelation in Scripture. What compassion He has for sinners to give them His Word! What a light in a dark world! Apart from God’s Word,
we cannot know what is really happening. We cannot rightly understand even those things that we see and hear. We have no power to see the spiritual and
eternal things. They are hidden behind a veil that cannot be pierced by our physical senses and natural thinking. The scientists’ electron microscopes and space
telescopes cannot see them. The greatest thinkers cannot pierce that veil.
God’s Word tells us what is happening in spiritual realms behind the veil, and it gives us the wisdom to understand what men themselves are doing.
The devil is using the crisis to work out the mystery of iniquity, which is the plan to put his man on the throne of this world and to have all men worship him by that
man (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12). We see this plan moving forward by the increase in the power of government over men’s lives, by the advance of global government,
by the breakdown of the old religions and the spread of religious skepticism, agnosticism, and atheism, by global banking and a cashless society, by creating the
desire for a great leader, and many such things. We must understand, though, that the devil’s doings are under the hand of God and can only proceed as God allows.
God holds the reins of the times, and though the stage is being set for the devil’s man, he cannot come until the Restrainer be taken out of the way. “And now ye
know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out
of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-8).
God is using the crisis to work out His eternal plan, which is that “in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both
which are in heaven, and which are in earth; even in him” (Ephesians 1:10). Every “time” or age in man’s history is a time that God made and in which God is
working out this glorious plan. Among the countless things that God is doing, He is using the coronavirus crisis to judge men of this world for their stubborn rebellion
to their Creator and their presumption that they can live independently of the One in whom “we live, and move, and have our being.” God is using the crisis as a
wake up call to His people and His churches, to chasten them for worldliness, to wean them from trusting in things other than God, to turn their focus to eternal
things, from partying and selfie-ing and social media-ing and the wasting of countless precious hours on vanity to surrender and obedience and holiness and separation. God is using the coronavirus crisis to remind men of their mortality and to bring sinners to repentance and saving faith in Jesus Christ. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). In our church, we have seen ten souls come to Christ in born again conversion during the lockdown. God is using the crisis to finish His business in this present age, which is to call out a people for His name among all nations. God is bringing things ever nearer to the next big event in His eternal program, which is the Rapture of the church saints, followed by the day of the Lord. Only He knows when this will happen. For God’s people, it is always “at hand.” The coronavirus pandemic and the strange global shutdown response is a big wake up call from God!
The communists are using the crisis to increase their totalitarian, God-usurping power over men’s bodies and minds.
The socialists are using the crisis to increase the power of government and their own power and to make people ever more dependent on government.
The anarchists are using the crisis to bring mayhem and destruction.
The indolent are using the crisis to get more handouts.
The lawless are using the crisis to increase their lawlessness.
The preppers are using the crisis to strengthen their prepper caves and store up more arms and to work themselves into a greater frenzy of fear-mongering.
The conspiratorialists are using the crisis to prove their pet conspiracies and to be consumed with them.
The global warming fanatics are using the crisis to push their myopic, mythical agenda.
The gullible think the crisis is simply about caring, selfless leaders who are saving people from coronavirus.
The hopeless are using the crisis as an excuse to commit suicide.
The covetous are using the crisis to get more wealth.
The redeemed of the Lord are using the crisis to stay focused on God’s will and the business He has given them, and to listen more intently for “the shout”!
The following solemn command of the eternal Son of God is in force until “the end of the world,” and that, my friends, has not yet come. “And Jesus came and
spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the
world. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).

RIOTERS BURN DOWN MINNEAPOLIS, BECAUSE “BLACK LIVES MATTER”~BUT NO ONE ELSE’S DOES~AIR BNB GIVES $500,000 TO BLACK LIVES MATTER & NAACP
So Minneapolis is on fire. Because as we all know by now, the best response to a black man being killed by the cops is to steal a big screen TV and burn down the local liquor store. It’s been nearly 6 years since Black Lives Matter got its start in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri. Six years, and they still can’t get their heads out of their own rear ends long enough to be marginally decent, let alone credible.

Discrimination is the greatest threat to a community built on belonging and acceptance. It cuts to the core of who we are and what we believe in. Airbnb stands with Black Lives Matter, and we reject racism, bigotry, and hate.
We can’t talk about recent events without also acknowledging the painful truth that some hosts and guests still experience discrimination, something that is the very opposite of our mission to create belonging. In 2016, Airbnb launched our nondiscrimination policy and community commitment, and over 1.3 million people who declined the pledge have been removed from our platform. We still have work to do, and we’re continuing to take action on our commitment to fighting discrimination.
One way we’re doing that is by donating a total of $500,000 to the NAACP and the Black Lives Matter foundation in support of their fight for equality and justice, in addition to matching donations to both groups made from all of our employees. Donald Trump is a heretic. He is persecuted by the Church.
No, not any of the Christian Churches. For them, although few realize or will admit it, Donald Trump, the famous playboy womanizer, is the most pro-Christian President in recent memory. Trump is a heretic from the Leftist church, the secular religion of today’s political and media elites, and as such he must be treated as heretics were in the old days of the Spanish Inquisition: he must be burned at the stake. Actually, that’s inaccurate, as archaism is frowned upon by this religion’s clergy. He need not be burned at the stake, but by whatever means, he must be destroyed.
Although most people in the United States today still identify themselves as Christians, the dominant religion of those who have dominated the political arena, own the establishment media, and set the cultural tone for the nation is not Christianity, but Leftism.
Leftism is a religion without a being who is identified as god as such, except insofar as the atomized individual is exalted to deity status and its every whim canonized as tantamount to divine writ, but it is as rigidly dogmatic, as fervently held, and as fanatically divorced from rationality as the worst and most destructive religious manifestations in human history. It is also extremely influential and all-pervasive. Every President since Franklin D. Roosevelt, with two notable exceptions, has held to this religion to varying degrees, and in some way paid obeisance to its gods and made offerings at its altars.
The first exception was Ronald Reagan. Richard Nixon was virulently hated by the high priests of Leftism, almost as much as Trump is now, but as President, instead of fighting them, Nixon endeavored in numerous ways to show that he was as good a Leftist as those who were determined to drive him from office and destroy him. They were, obviously, not appeased. As is shown in the forthcoming Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster, it was Reagan who was the first post-FDR President to blaspheme the Leftist religion by refusing to adhere to the Leftist dogma that the best way to deal with the Soviet Union was through the admixture of naïve self-abnegation and suicidal concession known as détente.
But Reagan, too, lit incense at the Leftist altars, opening the floodgates to millions of migrants, including all too many with little understanding of, much less love for, the founding principles of the American Republic, when he signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, also known as the Simpson-Mazzoli Act, on November 6, 1986. This act made it unlawful to hire people who had come into the country illegally, but also granted amnesty to virtually all illegal immigrants who had entered before 1982—some three million people.
It was left to Donald Trump to challenge the very religion of Leftism itself. The Leftist religion is fervently internationalist, believing that any and all manifestations of nationalism or patriotism are evil in themselves and a recrudescence of Nazism. Trump, by contrast, has repeatedly declared that as President he puts America first, refusing to be intimidate by ongoing efforts to discredit the America-First slogan, and the imperative behind it, as neofascist or racist. Never-Trump commentator William Kristol enunciated the Leftist dogma when he tweeted: “I’ll be unembarrassedly old-fashioned here: It is profoundly depressing and vulgar to hear an American president proclaim ‘America First.’”
As far as Kristol was concerned, the President of the United States should put the interests of the entire world first. This would involve sending American troops on “humanitarian” missions all over the globe, even when no conceivable American interest was involved. Economically, it would require the United States to tie itself into the global economy, another sacred Leftist dogma that Trump has rejected.
It doesn’t matter to the adherents of the Leftist religion that the coronavirus pandemic has shown why it is unwise to depend on China to manufacture anything that America needs. Their beliefs are not rational. Religious faith can be rational, but it often is not, and the Leftist religion is not rational. It is a set of feelings, and emotions, and manifestations of wishful thinking about the world that can be frankly dangerous when it collides with reality – as the coronavirus showed yet again.
But religious faiths can survive all manner of disconfirming evidence. And so Trump is a heretic, and nothing but a heretic, and as such he is persecuted. As far as Leftists are concerned, he must be destroyed, because if he is not, he will destroy their religion. This will be for them a fight to the death.

“Let me be clear about one thing: People are more important than property. Black Lives do Matter,” Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina declared.
Property is a capitalist abstraction to Marxists. It’s also someone’s home, someone’s livelihood, someone’s life. It’s what separates free people from serfs. The Left wants serfs and so hates the idea of property.
Governor Cooper, announcing in the middle of violent riots, that people’s property doesn’t matter when a Black Lives Matter mob is out there ransacking people’s stores, is an endorsement of the rioting, and an announcement that people will not be protected from the BLM mob.
Just to hammer that message home, Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown declared, “I will not put an officer in harm’s way to protect the property inside of a building.”
It goes without saying that this is not about the lives of officers, but about giving the mob an all-clear to riot and loot.
A number of municipalities have done it officially, but in North Carolina, it’s official.

Chinese state media are having a field day exploiting the riots that have occurred in recent days in Minneapolis and other cities across the United States led by a coordinated cadre of left wing radicals. These violent extremists have sought to hijack the peaceful protests by many well-meaning people outraged by the killing of an unarmed African-American, George Floyd, by a rogue ex-policeman. Chinese propagandists lump the peaceful protesters and the smaller number of dangerously violent rioters together as if they were part of one indistinguishable movement, in the same way as the ruling Chinese Communist Party treats all the protesters in Hong Kong.
Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Chinese and English editions of the Chinese Communist Party-controlled Global Times, tweeted sarcastically, for example, “Secretary Pompeo, please stand with the angry people of Minneapolis, just like you did with people of Hong Kong.” Then, in a tweet aimed at President Trump after the president vowed to use force as necessary to deal with the violent riots, Xijin wrote: “Just three days after unrest broke out in Minnesota, Trump threatened the use of ‘shooting’ and announced the army supports the governor. I strongly condemn such threats. Please protect the people of Minnesota, just like you sympathize with Hong Kong thugs.”
News flash for Hu Xijin: President Trump and his administration are committed to protecting the American people’s right to conduct peaceful demonstrations while also protecting the lives and properties of innocent people from wanton acts of violence. The Chinese communist regime suppresses all dissent on the mainland, which it intends to do in Hong Kong.
“We have peaceful protesters and support the rights for peaceful protesters,” President Trump said on Friday. He agrees with the demonstrators that the brutal killing of George Floyd at the hands of the rogue ex-policeman, Derek Michael Chauvin, was inexcusable. On Saturday, President Trump called George Floyd’s death “a grave tragedy” that “has filled Americans all over the country with horror, anger, and grief.”
The video image of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes as Floyd was lying helpless on the ground has sickened Americans of all races and backgrounds. The president said that he had spoken to George Floyd’s family and “expressed the sorrow of our entire nation for their loss.”
Chauvin was arrested Friday in Minneapolis on charges of third-degree murder and manslaughter. More serious charges may follow. Other police officers who stood by and did nothing are likely to face charges as well. The Department of Justice and FBI are investigating as a top priority the circumstances of the killing for possible federal prosecutions in the case.
Peaceful protests are as American as apple pie. However, when anger turns from peaceful protest to violence that harms innocent people, including African-Americans who have seen their places of business destroyed, the Trump administration has drawn a bright line. “We support the right of peaceful protestors (sic) and we hear their pleas,” President Trump said, “ but what we are now seeing on the streets of our cities has nothing to do with justice or with peace. The memory of George Floyd is being dishonored by rioters, looters and anarchists.” The president placed the blame for the violence on “Antifa and other radical left wing groups who are terrorizing the innocent, destroying jobs, hurting businesses and burning down buildings.”
The Chinese government and their Hong Kong police stooges make no distinctions between peaceful protesters and violent rioters. All the Hong Kong protesters, including young people peacefully holding signs, are lumped together by the Hong Kong police and their masters in Beijing as one monolithic mob of “thugs” and “terrorists.”
On May 28th, the People’s Republic of China National People’s Congress approved a resolution to devise and arbitrarily impose national security legislation on Hong Kong that would override Hong Kong’s Basic Law. As the Chinese government proceeds with drafting and implementation of such detailed legislation giving the Chinese state security agencies a green light to intervene directly against protesters in Hong Kong, the Tiananmen Square Massacre comes to mind.
On June 4, 1989, Chinese soldiers and police stormed Tiananmen Square, firing live rounds into a crowd led by students calling for democracy, free speech and a free press in China. Numerous protesters were killed, and thousands were reportedly arrested. The regime justified the Tiananmen crackdown as necessary to maintain stability and described its enforcers as heroes.
One of the protesters at Tiananmen Square who survived the brutal crackdown was none other than today’s prominent mouthpiece for Chinese government repression, Hu Xijin. Back in the day, Xijin “chanted slogans, joined in renditions of protest anthems like ‘L’Internationale’ and grew excited as he heard American radio broadcasts declare that democracy might come to China,” Todayonline reported. A year ago, by contrast, Xijin’s Chinese Communist Party-controlled newspaper editorialized, “As a vaccination for the Chinese society, the Tiananmen incident will greatly increase China’s immunity against any major political turmoil in the future.” Now Xijin uses Twitter and his Communist Party-controlled media perch to push back against any critics of the regime’s plans to smother the remaining freedoms of the people of Hong Kong.
The Chinese “broke their word to the world on ensuring the autonomy of Hong Kong,” President Trump said on Friday. He announced new measures against Chinese interests and the removal of various policy exemptions that have given Hong Kong preferential treatment so long as it remains sufficiently autonomous from mainland China’s communist regime to warrant such preferences. “China has replaced its promised formula of ‘one country, two systems’ with “one country, one system,” President Trump said. The “one system” is the Chinese Communist Party’s dictatorship model – the repressive system that the dictatorship’s propagandist Hu Xijin rebelled against as a student at Tiananmen Square 31 years ago.
China’s United Nations Ambassador Zhang Jun strongly condemned efforts by the United States and the United Kingdom to convene a formal meeting of the UN Security Council last week to discuss China’s plans to assume direct control over Hong Kong’s security. “Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs and allow no external interference,” Ambassador Zhang said.
China’s UN ambassador is wrong. The Chinese government’s plans to assume direct control over Hong Kong’s security without a free and fair vote by the Hong Kong people themselves violates Beijing’s obligations in the Sino-British Joint Declaration of 1984 and explicit provisions of Hong Kong’s Basic Law. The Joint Declaration is deposited with the United Nations as a formal treaty. The United Kingdom handed over to China jurisdiction of Hong Kong in 1997. It did so in reliance on China’s legally binding commitment under international law to respect the autonomy of the city and its residents for 50 years. The United States has provided Hong Kong with preferences in reliance on China’s adherence to its treaty obligations. The Chinese communist regime has evidently decided that 2047 is too long to wait before stripping the Hong Kong people of their freedoms.
On Sunday, the former Tiananmen Square protester-turned-Chinese communist regime mouthpiece, Hu Xijin, tweeted, “Vicious HK rioters obviously are mastermind of violent protests across the US.” Why isn’t Twitter as anxious to slap warning labels on Xijin’s scurrilous disinformation in his tweets as it is doing with President Trump’s perfectly legitimate tweets?

[David Horowitz’s new book, Blitz: Trump Will Smash the Left and Win, is published today, June 2, by Humanix Books: Order Here.]
When David Horowitz wrote his latest book Blitz: Trump Will Smash the Left and Win (Humanix, 2020) he didn’t know that ANTIFA-fueled mobs would be burning and looting cities across America, and even threatening the White House itself. Then again, knowing how Horowitz understands the Left as well as anyone else in the conservative movement, perhaps he actually did anticipate the events of the last few days.
Blitz is the go-to recap of the first Trump term, from the first days of the so-called “Muslim ban” through a deconstruction of the “partisan impeachment,” as Horowitz labels it.
Blitz is a comprehensive reset at the end of the first Trump term. It is catalog of how we got here and how the Left have lost their minds over President Trump’s new way. Horowitz diagnoses the causes and effect of Trump Derangement Syndrome. He also documents how Trump has thrived despite the unhinged hatred aimed at him.
One reason Blitz suggests Trump is unlike his Republican predecessors, is that he didn’t let personal attacks change his tactics.
Horowitz excels in structural apologetics. He is skilled at describing the architecture that separates order from chaos, barbarianism from civilization. His own background makes this an especially good read. Horowitz grew up around communist radicals and watched them firsthand, including their violence and mob tactics, Horowitz is in a place few are.
Blitz puts the battle between Trump and the radical Left in that frame.
The Left is always trying to erode our structures, and Horowitz noted they started with Trump even before he was sworn in when hundreds of leftist leaders met in a Washington D.C. hotel to plot the resistance – including the radical now-Attorney General of Minnesota Keith Ellison. One of those structures that sustain us is an acceptance of election results as legitimate. But that wasn’t going to happen with Trump. From Blitz:
The most striking feature of the Resistance and its rejection of a legitimately elected president was its departure from the political tradition established by the constitutional framers over 230 years earlier. The most pressing fear of those framers was the threat that political factions posed to a democracy. They were conscious of the fact that historically, democracies such as classical Athens had split into rival factions that eventually tore them apart and led to their demise.
And so the day after the inauguration, the nasty woman marched, with their pink hats and venom toward the new President. The “Presidential honeymoon” Horowitz describes as essential to American stability was tossed out by the Left on day one. He notes that even seventy members of Congress refused to attend the inauguration.
The structures that sustain America were under attack, right from the beginning of Trump’s term.
Horowitz decodes the Tweeting Trump, and describes the phenomena of something bigger and more important – the willingness to confront foes. On Hillary:
Deferring to Hillary Clinton as a female, as Republicans prior to Trump had done, allowed her to hide behind a veil of gentility while she launched a one-woman witch hunt against them, calling Republicans racists, sexists, deplorables, and so on. It took a Trump to look her in the eye with seventy million people watching during one of the presidential debates and say, “You are a liar and a crook,” which she was both. Everybody knew it, but only Donald Trump dared to utter it out loud.
The most fascinating part of Blitz is Horowitz getting to the essence of what makes Trump unique, effective, and so unfamiliar to the political establishment. Trump took a wholly opposite approach than most politicians.
Trump noticed that most politicians use speech either to hide what they really think or to win love and support. Trump represents something revolutionary and unfamiliar to the political classes. Horowitz says that instead of trying to win support or hide what he thinks, he uses speeches, statements and Twitter “to define the truth.”
He is describing the world as he sees it, and how events fit into that flow. Trump isn’t trying hide his true belief; he isn’t trying to win support. He’s just describing the world as he sees it. Horowitz describes it in action, and why it works.
It showed how, by standing up to the attacks from the left, Trump was able to thrive despite their slanderous labels of “racist” and “hate monger.” It’s inconceivable that, say, Paul Ryan or Jeb Bush would have stood their ground against the “racist” smears. They would have been steamrolled by the viciousness of the left and quickly apologized for any “offense” given.
Trump’s response illustrated a basic strategy that has served him well on the political battlefield: When attacked, strike back. Strike back hard. Harder than they hit you. Use the facts concealed by political correctness, and the language of moral indictment, which progressives resort to all the time.
Trump knows there are millions of Americans who are weary of political correctness and what it has done to undermine America and conceal the truth.
This is most obvious when Trump went right at the Democrat’s stranglehold over urban African-Americans, and it worked. He called Baltimore infested. When Baltimore Congressman Elijah Cummings called him a racist, Trump highlighted video of Cummings calling his own district infested. Calling Trump a racist doesn’t affect him like it had Republicans before him.
In Blitz, Horowitz catalogs where we are, and how we got here since election night 2016. He inventories the fake scandals, the Democrat’s derangement, the sell out of the American economy to China, and what really motivates Trump.
Trump is leaving his mark on the Republican Part in a way very few of his GOP predecessors could:
Democrats have approached politics as a form of war conducted by other means, while Republicans have entered the political arena as pragmatists and accountants. But the siege of Donald Trump has begun to create a new Republican Party, passionate and combative in defense of a leader they believe has stood up for them, and—equally important—who exceeds them in his appetite for combat.
It is this willingness to fight that Horowitz emphasizes is so central to the new conservative movement in the age of Trump.
Blitz leaves readers with the “Nine Biggest Dangers to American from the Anti-Trump Left.” By my count, six of them have been roaming the streets of Minneapolis and other major cities this weekend burning and looting. “Resistance, Attacks on America’s Heritage, and Identity Politics” are but a few featured in Blitz that fuel the riots and chaos in American cities. You can always count on Horowitz to identify, catalog and define the infrastructure on the Left that desires to remake the greatest nation in history into their progressive utopia.
Blitz is a sharp guide to where we are as a nation, and what we face in the upcoming election. It is a handy inventory of the worst that has happened since election night 2016, and why it is that Trump has survived, all the while remaking the art of American politics.

A Florida sheriff has a stark warning for rioters tonight: if you fan out to the suburbs to loot, you will likely be shot by residents.
The Lakeland Police Department Sheriff Grady Judd issued a statement on the heels of Polk County declaring a local state of emergency on Monday, warning rioters to stay away from the neighborhoods because residents value the Second Amendment.
“We have received information that some of these criminals were going to take their criminal conduct into the neighborhoods,” Judd said. “I would tell them, if you value your life, they probably shouldn’t do that in Polk County.”
FOX 13 Tampa Bay
“The people in Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns… And if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I’m highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns.” STORY: https://bit.ly/3gPvQML
“Because the people of Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns, and they’re going to be in their homes tonight with their guns loaded, and if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I’m highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns. So, leave the community alone.”
Judd pointed out that most of the rioters are organized and not local residents who “came here for nothing but to create problems.”
The sheriff went on to express his sympathies about George Floyd’s death but said that the riots have distracted from Floyd’s wrongful death at the hands of Minneapolis police.
“All of that ugliness has taken away from what we’re united about,” Judd said. “We’re united about the conduct that you saw with George [Floyd].”

After days of bloody rioting and looting across America, the U.S. government “will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization[,]” President Donald Trump announced on Twitter.
The tweet came after Antifa, Democratic Socialists of America, Black Lives Matter, and other America-hating radical leftist groups seized on the opportunity of the May 25 death of George Floyd, a black man who perished after then-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into the suspect’s neck for almost 9 minutes, an event captured on video that quickly went viral. The in-custody death video became a recruiting tool for agitators.
George himself had been detained by police after a report he tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at a local establishment. Why Chauvin, assisted by other officers, used so much force on a suspect who was already under control has not yet been explained.
Ultra-violent Antifa, a revolutionary communist-anarchist militia movement that aspires to forcibly overthrow the United States government, has gained new prominence in the post-Obama era. Adopting fascistic tactics, they trace their roots back to Nazi Germany. Although they opposed the Sturmabteilung (SA), or Nazi storm troopers going back to the Weimar era, like the SA they also used violence to intimidate political opponents and break up their meetings and rallies. It could be argued that the ideological distance between Antifa and the now-defunct National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated as NSDAP) or Nazi Party, is so slight it could be measured in millimeters.
Antifa is not typically thought of as a single organization: it is a movement or coalition of leftist groups, each of which claims to combat “fascism,” a political ideology whose definition academics have been arguing about for decades. The word Antifa itself is a truncation of anti-fascist.
Antifa operates under a twisted working definition of fascism, labeling mainstream conservatives fascists and lumping them in with white-supremacists and neo-Nazis. All cops can be deemed fascists as representatives of the supposedly evil capitalist system unless perhaps they declare their “allyship.” It is fair to say that true fascists are hard to find in the U.S. today – except in the fantasies of Antifa and radical hate groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The president’s tweet came at 12:23 p.m. on May 31, after days of unrest and insurrectionist violence in: Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota; Los Angeles; Seattle; Portland, Oregon; Denver; Phoenix and Tampa, Arizona; Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee; Kansas City; Oklahoma City; Salt Lake City; Chicago; Detroit; Fargo, North Dakota; Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis; Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Atlanta; Wilmington, Delaware; Richmond, Virginia; Columbia, South Carolina; Miami and Jacksonville, Florida; and in Washington, D.C., both downtown and in front of the White House itself.
Curfews have reportedly been imposed in Minneapolis, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and elsewhere.
California, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin have all reportedly activated their state national guards to restore order.
A few hours after the initial announcement, Trump took to Twitter to urge Democratic mayors and governors, who have largely been letting angry mobs run wild in the ongoing orgy of leftist violence, to “Get tough … These people are ANARCHISTS. Call in our National Guard NOW.”
The Antifa terrorist-organization designation is something conservatives and other patriots have been awaiting for years. President Barack Hussein Obama wouldn’t do it no matter how much havoc the so-called anti-fascists wreaked during his term. Few Democrats have even been willing to denounce Antifa because the party’s base is in love with these supposedly romantic, Che Guevara-like, bathing-averse revolutionaries who want to slit the throats of Republicans (and quite a few Democrats, as well).
Sen. Tim Kaine, a Virginia Democrat who was Hillary Clinton’s running-mate in 2016, has long been sympathetic to violent street radicals. He even uses Leninist phrasing when discussing political activism, saying those on his side must “fight in the streets.” Not surprisingly, in March 2017, Woody Kaine, his son, was part of an Antifa assault on Trump supporters in the rotunda of the Minnesota Capitol. Young Kaine fought with police as they tried to arrest him for lobbing a smoke bomb. His father was no doubt proud.
Unfortunately, a few Republican squishes have also had kind words for Antifa. The late Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, and Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, all embraced Antifa after the violent unrest in Charlottesville in 2017.
But President Trump is no squish.
Neither is U.S. Attorney General William Barr.
On Saturday, May 30, Barr said he will not hesitate to use federal legislation to prosecute those who cross state lines to participate in organized upheaval.
“We must have law and order on our streets and in our communities,” he said.
Barr blamed the violence in Minneapolis and elsewhere on “far-left extremist groups,”
“Unfortunately, with the rioting that is occurring in many of our cities around the country, the voices of peaceful protests are being hijacked by violent radical elements,” he said. “In many places it appears the violence is planned, organized, and driven by far left extremist groups and anarchic groups using Antifa-like tactics.”
The same day, President Trump said the U.S. military was “ready, willing and able” to deploy if unrest continued.
And justice will be done, Barr vowed.
“The outrage of our national community about what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis is real and legitimate. Accountability for his death must be addressed, and is being addressed, through the regular process of our criminal justice system, both at the state and at the federal level. That system is working and moving at exceptional speed. Already initial charges have been filed. That process continues to move forward. Justice will be served.”
Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch spoke for many conservatives when he praised the Trump administration for taking aim at the dangerous subversives of Antifa.
“Antifa has been engaging in terrorism and seditious conspiracy for years[,]” Fitton tweeted.
“But FBI and DOJ were too busy to care much, their leadership engaging in their own seditious conspiracy against the presidency @RealDonaldTrump. Glad to see that AG Barr is beginning to get back to basics.”
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research purposes:
After another night of riots that have spread across the nation, on Sunday Attorney General William Barr issued a statement urging state and local governments to increase pressure against Antifa “and other similar groups.”
With the rioting that is occurring in many of our cities around the country, the voices of peaceful and legitimate protests have been hijacked by violent radical elements. Groups of outside radicals and agitators are exploiting the situation to pursue their own separate, violent, and extremist agenda.
It is time to stop watching the violence and to confront and stop it. The continued violence and destruction of property endangers the lives and livelihoods of others, and interferes with the rights of peaceful protestors, as well as all other citizens….
Preventing reconciliation and driving us apart is the goal of these radical groups, and we cannot let them succeed.
It is the responsibility of state and local leaders to ensure that adequate law enforcement resources, including the National Guard where necessary, are deployed on the streets to reestablish law and order. We saw this finally happen in Minneapolis last night, and it worked.
Barr has plenty of resources available, including “our existing network of 56 regional FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF).… The violence instigated and carried out by Antifa and other similar groups … will be treated accordingly.”
The threat is real, said Dan Bongino on Fox & Friends on Sunday. A former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent, Bongino has friends inside law enforcement who have confirmed to him that “known Antifa leadership is … organizing” the riots. Said Bongino, “This is not some run-of-the-mill criminality by people who have nothing to do on a Saturday night.… This is a sophisticated insurrection-type attack.”
Columnist and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy thinks Barr has all the tools he needs in stemming the violence and ending the insurrection. Wrote McCarthy for Fox News:
I’ve investigated and prosecuted terrorists — jihadists who adhered to foreign terrorist organizations but operated domestically.… I can tell you that the laws we already have are more than adequate to the task.
There is no need for new laws. Calls to enact them are either ill-conceived or the usual case of preening politicians sensing the need to look like they’re doing something in response to a crisis.
Would McCarthy be referring to the Tweets from President Trump? On Saturday the president tweeted, “Crossing State lines to incite violence is a FEDERAL CRIME! Liberal Governors and Mayors must get MUCH tougher or the Federal Government will step in and do what has to be done, and that includes using the unlimited power of our Military and many arrests. Thank you!”
This was followed by a second Tweet by the president on Sunday: “The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization.”
Except that he can’t, says McCarthy. Such an action “would permit the surveillance of Americans in the absence of probable cause.”
According to President Trump and his most ardent supporters, he is a “disruptor” here to shake up established Washington ways.
Nevertheless, in announcing that he will “designate” Antifa, the far-left radical movement, as a terrorist organization, he is pulling a page from the Swamp’s playbook.
It is political rhetoric portrayed as legally significant action to bring to heel an array of sociopaths that, to be sure, are playing their now familiar instigator’s role in the rioting that roils American cities.
[The president’s] purported designation would be pointless, in that the means of taking aggressive enforcement action against Antifa, and against domestic terrorism generally, are plentiful and ready to hand.
The president’s move would also be legally invalid because, under federal law and for very sound reasons, [that] designation is available only for foreign terrorist organizations.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.
The Golden State is showing its brass with more unemployed people than the entire population of Alabama. So, California’s leaders decided that this was an urgent time to bail out illegal aliens.
California’s illegal alien population is its shadow economy and with many of the industries that employ them shut down, the Democrats who depend on ghost districts populated by illegals decided that something had to be urgently done to keep the illegal aliens from fleeing back across the border.
The Democrats figured that giving them checks would be cheaper than building a wall to keep them in.
But who knew that a $125 million stimulus program for illegal aliens would become such a disaster?
Illegal aliens were eligible to apply for up to $1,000 with $75 million coming from the California taxpayers bailing out illegals who don’t pay taxes. And another $50 million was supposed to be donated by wealthy lefties. But while the taxpayers of the state were forced to put up their $75 million, the wealthy politically correct elites who have poured fortunes into electing Democrats didn’t pay up.
Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees had the backing of billionaires like Steve Jobs’ widow, Mark Zuckerberg, and George Soros, but has stalled at $38 million. And that’s from guys like Zuckerberg and Soros who use million-dollar bills as toilet paper. But why bother donating to illegals, when you can buy the politicians, and they’ll steal money from the middle class to fund your agenda?
The Resilience Fund was supposed to raise an initial $50 million. It’s struggling to get there which means its partner organizations like the California Nail Salon Community Care Fund, the TransLatin Coalition, the Jakara Movement for Sikh illegal aliens, and the Black LGBTQ+ Migrant Project might be out of luck.
But the real train wreck was, as always, on the government side where Governor Newsom had decided to anonymously give away cash to illegals, first-come, first-served. What could possibly go wrong?
The Disaster Relief Assistance for Immigrants (DRAI) program was built to self-destruct from the start.
Since the sanctuary state would rather let a million Kate Steinles be murdered than deport one illegal, not even California authorities would be allowed to know whom they were giving away the money to.
Instead of illegal aliens having to file paperwork or show up at an office and present their undocumented passports, the giveaway was run through non-profits that help illegal aliens. Like a radio station contest, the illegal aliens had to call it to one of twelve non-profits to walk away with a grand.
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles claimed that it got 630,000 calls in the first 90 minutes and over 1.1 million calls on the first day. Pew estimates that Los Angeles has around 1 million illegals. What are the odds that all of them would have phoned up one of the non-profits in one day?
The Pew estimate that there are only 2 million illegals in California has always been nonsense, but even so numbers like these are so fishy that they could be served fresh at your local seafood restaurant.
Even at the minimum number of $500, 1 million applicants would require a $500 million fund.
And that’s just the calls coming it to one of the non-profits.
The TODEC Legal Center claimed that it was hammered with 1 million calls in the first 48 hours. Bay Area Catholic Charities told the media that it’s been getting 200,000 calls a day.
Since illegal aliens are only supposed to apply to the contractors serving their geographic area, that means that there are either a whole lot of illegal aliens in California or a whole lot of scammers.
The volume of calls quickly overwhelmed the pro-illegal organizations which processed only 6,500 illegal claims. Only California Democrats can figure out how to outsource a giveaway and make it even worse as other pro-illegal alien groups began complaining to Governor Newsom that “undocumented Californians face unreasonable barriers in accessing these much-needed resources.”
Even though California can’t figure out how to give away the money to illegal aliens, Democrats are demanding even more giveaways with legislators calling for $3,200 in payouts per illegal alien.
With claims that there are 289,000 illegal aliens who are no longer able to work illegally in California, that could run to $9 billion in payouts to illegal aliens. Meanwhile, Governor Newsom is warning that unless his government gets a massive federal bailout, cops and firefighters will lose their jobs.
Maybe the illegal aliens can work as California’s cops and firefighters for less than minimum wage.
But, as the 1.1 million phone calls show, the sky is literally the limit.
California’s illegal alien stimulus routes everything through its dozen Immigration Services Financing contractors who only provide general demographic information to the state. The contractors begin the process by phone and then ask applicants to email them evidence that they’re eligible for the program.
The potential for fraud is as vast as the cash flow is limited.
Meanwhile, CBS Los Angeles interviewed a woman who told the reporter in Spanish. “Right now, we live in a place that is not our country. Our house is in a different country, and we have expenses we have to pay like rent and for food.” It seems like the solution would be for her to go back to her own country.
You don’t need to ask California taxpayers to cover LA rents when you have a house in Guatemala.
Illegal aliens are living in a place that is not their country. There’s no reason for them to be here, let alone be bailed out by California taxpayers, when 5 million Californians are unemployed.
But California’s bad ideas have a way of quickly sweeping the nation. From foods to dances to drugs, once Californians do it, every other idiot blue state decides it must be a good idea.
The Seattle City Council, under Council President M. Lorena Gonzalez, passed a unanimous resolution calling for a fund of over $100 million for “undocumented Washingtonians”.
And they’re not talking about Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Gonzalez’s parents were illegal aliens. The La Raza vet got her start in politics as the legal counsel to Mayor Ed Murray, who was forced to step down after multiple allegations of abusing children that had been covered up by the Democrat establishment. That’s the sort of thing they used to do in Portland.
Like its California cousin, Seattle’s illegal alien giveaway would also be run by “community-based organizations” which is just slang for Democrat organizations that help get out the Democrat vote.
Seattle Democrats claim that they need to bail out the state’s 250,000 illegal aliens. Pew estimates place 140,000 illegal aliens in the Seattle metropolitan area. The entire state is on the hook for Seattle.
The idea of a massive illegal alien bailout is spreading across blue state and areas. Maryland’s 250,000 illegal aliens want their own stimulus plan. Pro-illegal alien activists in Phoenix held a rally demanding money for illegals. Two dozen Connecticut legislators have written a letter calling for a bailout for the state’s 100,000 illegals. Massachusetts Democrats also desperately want to bail out their illegals.
And California has taken its illegal alien bailout national with Speaker Pelosi’s HEROES Act offering stimulus cash for illegal aliens at a time when 30 million Americans are out of work.
Pelosi might have learned the lesson from her own state’s illegal alien bailout disaster.
Handing out cash to criminals never ends well. That’s why so many members of her own party are in jail.

The left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a $592 million non-profit. It is also the creator and leader of the largest blacklist, by far, in American history. Its infamous list of “hate groups,” which currently consists of 940 separate entities in all 50 U.S. states, is the centerpiece of a massive smear campaign that conflates a small number of mostly insignificant fringe groups with entities whose sin is being politically conservative, but which are not “hate” groups in any meaningful sense of the word.
By equating a smattering of actual hate groups with respectable conservative organizations, SPLC seeks to delegitimize conservatives as repugnant monsters whose viewpoints do not merit a hearing. And by labeling mainstream conservative individuals and organizations as “hate mongers,” it seeks to deprive them of the funding they need to reach an audience or even stay alive. Consider, for instance, the SPLC’s branding of David Horowitz, founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, as an “anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim extremist” and as one of the “10 Most Dangerous Hatemongers” in the United States — solely because he opposes illegal immigration and warns against the dangers of Islamic jihad.
After Horowitz gave a speech to the bi-partisan American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in August 2018, SPLC organized a boycott that singled out his remarks as worthy of suppression and called on ALEC’s corporate sponsors to withdraw their support. The actual sin Horowitz committed was confined to one sentence in which he referred to Black Lives Matter as a “racist organization” and the Muslim Brotherhood as a “terrorist” group. Within two weeks, 79 leftist organizations had joined the boycott. This led to the withdrawal of financial support by major corporations like Verizon, AT&T, and Dow Chemical, and the loss of tens of thousands of dollars for ALEC.
The following month, SPLC’s slurs were the basis of major media attacks smearing Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis as a “white supremacist” for appearing at a Restoration Weekend event hosted by Horowitz, who was described as “an infamous racist” in a headline that appeared in the Huffington Post. (As a side note to this baseless slander, Horowitz is a friend of Arianna Huffington — who founded but no longer owns the Post — and was married in her home.)
The SPLC blacklist is enabled by — and could not be successful without — the mindless support of media outlets like the Washington Post, New York Magazine, Vanity Fair, and so-called “liberal” organizations like People for the American Way and Common Cause. It is also empowered by major support from billionaires like Apple CEO Tim Cook and JP Morgan chairman Jamie Dimon, and by the charitable arms of such major American corporations as Amazon.
Amazon’s alliance with SPLC is institutionalized in its popular “AmazonSmile” program, through which customers can purchase Amazon products at their regular prices and then indicate, at checkout, that they wish to have Amazon redirect 0.5% of the payment to a charitable nonprofit organization of the customer’s choice. In fiscal 2018, AmazonSmile funneled some $44 million to non-profits via this program.
But not every governmentally recognized non-profit is eligible to receive Amazon’s largesse. Amazon warns its customers that “organizations that engage in, support, encourage, or promote intolerance, hate, terrorism, violence, money laundering, or other illegal activities are not eligible to participate.” Among the organizations denied Amazon charity on these grounds is the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the chief legal non-profit group committed to protecting religious liberty. ADF is ineligible for Amazon’s program because it defends the First Amendment rights of religious organizations to hold views that SPLC doesn’t support.
ADF, by its own telling, provides legal advocacy “for the right of people to freely live out their faith,” with a specific focus on “cases involving religious liberty issues, the sanctity of human life, and marriage and family.” In other words, ADF thinks that if a religious organization opposes taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand, or believes that marriage should be defined explicitly as a sacramental union between one man and one woman, such an entity should be allowed, in accordance with the First Amendment, to freely espouse those particular values.
But to the leftists at the Southern Poverty Law Center, the defense of the First Amendment by organizations like ADF is a “hateful” endeavor which merits the group’s inclusion in the SPLC blacklist. And AmazonSmile, in turn, has dutifully declared itself off-limits to ADF. As one AmazonSmile spokesperson has acknowledged: “We remove organizations that the SPLC deems as ineligible.” And by that chain of unexamined “evidence” — i.e., the mere word of SPLC — the blacklist works.
ADF is just one of scores of mainstream religious organizations that have been targeted by SPLC. In particular, SPLC depicts any entity objecting to transformative cultural changes involving homosexuals — such as gay marriage — as a “hate” group whose opinions have no more legitimacy than those of an Aryan militia. In this way, SPLC classifies the conservative Family Research Council, a Christian public policy ministry, as yet another purveyor of hate. And in accordance with SPLC’s guidance, AmazonSmile has removed the Council from the list of charities eligible to receive AmazonSmile donations.
The D. James Kennedy Ministries (DJKM), whose mission is to proclaim “the Gospel of Jesus Christ” as widely as possible, likewise opposes the notion that marriage should be redefined to include same-sex unions. Consequently, SPLC has defamed DJKM as yet another “active hate group.” And AmazonSmile, in turn, refuses to direct any of its customer funds to DJKM. But in fact, there is not the faintest trace of “hate” in DJKM’s message. As Ministries spokesman John Rabe has said: “We desire all people, with no exceptions, to receive the love of Christ and his forgiveness and healing. We unequivocally condemn violence, and we hate no one.”
Other noteworthy Christian groups blacklisted by both SPLC and AmazonSmile include the Religious Freedom Coalition (RFC), the Ruth Institute, and the Saint Benedict Center — all of which are guilty of the apparently unpardonable sin of opposing same-sex marriage on religious grounds. When a spokesman for the Saint Benedict Center, Brother André Marie, asked Amazon to explain why his Center had been barred from participating in AmazonSmile, the company told him candidly: “We rely on the Southern Poverty Law Center to determine which charities are in certain ineligible categories. You have been excluded from the AmazonSmile program because the Southern Poverty Law Center lists Saint Benedict Center Inc. in an ineligible category.”
In stark contrast to its shabby treatment of the aforementioned Christian groups, AmazonSmile has had absolutely no objection to passing along 0.5% of its customer expenditures to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was co-founded by individuals with close ties to Hamas — a proudly genocidal organization of murderous Jew-haters. Terrorism expert Steven Emerson, citing federal law-enforcement sources and internal documents, has bluntly described CAIR as “a radical fundamentalist front group for Hamas.”
AmazonSmile is likewise happy to funnel some of its customer funds to the Islamic Center of Jersey City (ICJC), an institution whose imam, in a recent sermon, not only characterized Israeli Jews as “apes and pigs,” but also besought Allah’s assistance in killing them, right “down to the very last one.” Moreover, a former ICJC imam was a Hamas activist who was named on a “List of Possible Unindicted Co-conspirators for the World Trade Center Bombing.”
The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) — a Jew-hating entity that praises terror attacks, supports the imposition of Sharia Law, promotes the establishment of an Islamic caliphate, has ties to the radical Pakistani group Jamaat-e-Islami, and is closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood — is also an AmazonSmile member in perfectly good standing.
Similarly, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which promotes Sharia Law and Islamic supremacism, is free to rake in loads of cash through AmazonSmile. Established by U.S-based members of the Muslim Brotherhood, ISNA was identified by declassified FBI memos as a Brotherhood front group as early as 1987. Four years after that, ISNA was explicitly named in a Brotherhood document as one of 29 likeminded Islamic organizations that shared the common goal of carrying out a “grand Jihad” in America and “destroying … Western civilization from within.” But it’s not a “hate group,” according to the cheerful, grinning folks at AmazonSmile and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Obviously, the double standards of AmazonSmile are many. But perhaps most troubling is the fact that the single most noteworthy beneficiary of the program is none other than the Southern Poverty Law Center itself. That’s correct: The principal gatekeeper that determines who should, and who should not, be permitted to earn money through AmazonSmile, routinely stuffs its own deep pockets with AmazonSmile cash. Indeed, SPLC is currently the 33rd leading recipient of contributions through AmazonSmile. This of course is in keeping with SPLC’s legendary aptitude for wringing every last penny out of every cash cow in the proverbial barn. Today SPLC boasts a $592 million endowment, of which nearly 30% is sheltered in offshore tax havens.
In their crusade against conservative organizations, SPLC and AmazonSmile have plenty of company. For instance, Color of Change has pressured corporations to cut all business and commercial ties to entities that SPLC designates as “hate groups.”
Similarly, BloodMoney.org will not be satisfied until all “financial service companies” stop “profiting from hate” by “tolerating the use of their services by hate groups.” In short, BloodMoney favors the blacklisting and economic suffocation of conservative groups in much the same way as AmazonSmile does. Particularly remarkable is the fact that BloodMoney has named none other than Amazon as a company guilty of conducting business with various “hate groups” that pursue “dangerous agendas.” In other words, AmazonSmile’s blacklist doesn’t go far enough for BloodMoney, which boasts that, as a result of its own blacklisting efforts, “158 funding sources have been removed from white supremacist sites.”
In 2017, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal — much like AmazonSmile — blacklisted a number of organizations deemed objectionable by self-anointed arbiters of “hate” like SPLC, Color of Change, and BloodMoney. As PayPal said in a statement at that time, its own objective was to “ensure that our services are not used to accept payments or donations for activities that promote hate, violence or racial intolerance.”
While aiming to deprive conservative organizations of funding from a host of sources, leftist entities like Amazon and SPLC unapologetically seek to pack as much cash as possible into their own massive coffers. Business Insider recently published an article speculating that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire by the year 2026. And if present trends continue, the Southern Poverty Law Center’s holdings may surpass the $1 billion mark at just about that same time. Such a parallel would be a fitting reflection of AmazonSmile’s unique relationship with SPLC — one gang of reckless slanderers lining the pockets of another, in an obscenely crooked, rigged charade.
The SPLC’s massive blacklist is sustained by a powerful movement on the left and in the Democratic Party, which is determined to suppress its conservative opposition and create a one-party state — a feat it has already accomplished in our colleges and universities and in large swathes of our media institutions.

Microsoft-owned Skype has frozen the account of a healthcare worker a day after he appeared on The Alex Jones Show to discuss the coronavirus hysteria and misinformation.
The day after talking with Alex Jones on his Sunday show about the globalists’ coronavirus takeover plan, CT nurse Josiah Dan noticed he’d been locked out of his Microsoft account indefinitely after trying to interview someone on Skype.
“My interviewer sent me a link to connect with the call, I tried to connect and it wouldn’t let me access to my Skype,” Dan told Infowars Tuesday.
“It brought me to the login page, and when I tried to log in it sent me on a wild goose chase to try to find where to fix the problem.”
“When I went to try and fix it, it gave me that message that I violated their terms for use.”
“I still haven’t been able to access Skype,” he continued. “I just tried to do what the website suggested which was to give them my information and then they’d be sending a text message to be able to fix the error, and I haven’t received any text message yet.”
This should terrify everyone.
Microsoft has set a new precedent; they’re now censoring the private correspondence of individuals for the crime of wrongthink.

“Gun violence is the last thing our communities and children should have to fear during a public health crisis. Background checks can save lives and DOJ’s firearms operations help make that happen. At the California Department of Justice, we’ll keep doing our part to keep firearms out of the hands of violent and dangerous individuals.”
That was California attorney general Xavier Becerra last week, but his announcement failed to cite any example of actual “gun violence.” The former congressman, once on Hillary Clinton’s short list as a running mate, was hailing raids that confiscated firearms from people who had committed no crime.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the state DOJ mounted “a dozen operations to confiscate firearms and ammunition possessed by owners who failed background checks.” This is the background check California requires for all purchases of ammunition. Failing this particular check is not the same as committing a crime.
From last July 1, when the program kicked in, until December, 2019, the state ran 345,000 background checks and rejected a full 62,000 Californians legally entitled to purchase ammunition. The 62,000 included off-duty sheriff’s deputies purchasing shotgun shells to hunt ducks. Database discrepancies meant the 62,000 had somehow “failed” a background check, implying malfeasance. The law-abiding gun owners then became “prohibited persons,” barred from purchasing ammunition and exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Attorney Ari Freilich of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, told reporters that dangerous people were “committing a serious crime trying to acquire a product designed to take human life,” and that the background check system was working as intended. The outright confiscation of firearms in April, 2020, confirms that this is the case.
Federal judge Roger Benitez ruled that the ammunition law defies common sense and burdens Second Amendment rights, but last month the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted Becerra’s request to reinstate the background checks. As Becerra plans further “operations,” Gov. Gavin Newsom is mounting a surge on a different front.
The governor is tapping UCLA and UC San Francisco to train an “army” of “coronavirus detectives” to “test, trace and isolate people who may have been infected.” That includes those who have no symptoms at all, but are still capable of infecting others. By that standard, Newsom’s army could trace and isolate just about anybody, so Californians might wonder about those doing the tracing.
The governor will redeploy state employees with “the right kind of background cultural sensitivity, cultural competency, different language skills, a health mindset.” On the other hand, according to Politico, the first group of tracers, in San Francisco, included city librarians, attorneys and investigators, “many with no health care background.”
As the California Globe has learned, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will not impose penalties for violations of the HIPPA privacy rule for “public health and health oversight activities during the COVID-19 nationwide public health emergency.” How long the “trace force” will be deployed remains something of a mystery.
Unlike President Trump, Gavin Newsom does not take questions from reporters in real time and under emergency powers he functions like an autocrat. When thousands of embattled Californians stream to the state Capitol, they find access blocked by blackshirted CHP staatspolizei in full riot gear. Attorney general Becerra has no problem with it, and Californians might recall his record at protecting communities from violent criminals.
In recent years, the MS-13 gang has imposed a “reign of terror” in Mendota, near Fresno, with at least 14 brutal murders. Federal agents, not the state AG, took the lead in prosecuting the gang, and when federal officials made arrests, Becerra made it clear he was not concerned about the gang members’ “status.” The MS-13 reign of terror, and murders of police officers by criminal illegals, prompted no raids like the ones Becerra is now inflicting on those who fail the rigged background checks.
Meanwhile, according to Politico, Newsom’s 20,000-strong trace force “could serve as a template for the nation and create a whole new sector of public health workers.” It certainly could, as people across the country might think, especially those who have lost their jobs during the pandemic. In reality, all Newsom’s emergency measures could serve as a template for what the nation might look like under any Democrat currently in contention for the White House.
In the best Kafkaesque style, a government Stasi force could be empowered to track and isolate just about anybody, “until we have a vaccine,” or a “cure.” Illegal aliens, even the criminals among them, would remain a protected and privileged class. As in California, this imported electorate would be supported by American taxpayers.
Law-abiding gun owners, even Sheriff’s deputies, could be blocked from exercising their rights under the Second Amendment, and the First Amendment would also stand at risk. So-called “red flag” laws could empower confiscation of firearms and ammunition from anybody the government doesn’t like.
Disarmament of the people is a prelude to repression, and the targets would be all those deplorables, stricken with various phobias and seeking to get their lives back. The election takes place on November 3. As President Trump says, we’ll have to see what happens.

Five things I have learned from COVID-19:
1. People Overreact.
In the absence of knowing what to do, people need to do something.
The masses feel better when they are preparing to defend themselves against an invisible threat, even if this makes no sense whatsoever. Like pregnant mums writing a birthing plan, only for it to go out the window the minute you realize pushing something the size of a watermelon out of something the size of a doughnut is going to sting a bit.
When the threat of coronavirus came, ordinarily sane people were caught doing the strangest things: freezing onions, fighting over toilet paper, putting beans in their loft space.
It is comforting to know that the most fearful in our society will never need to buy toilet paper again.
2. We Have Some Dodgy Friends.
The massive overreaction to coronavirus has been horrible to watch. What’s worse is seeing it happen in people you regarded as good friends, or at least solid people to turn to for advice. Those whose counsel you may have sought on matters ranging from marriage to kids are now driving their car with a mask on, dictating what you aren’t allowed to do on WhatsApp, and spraying their Amazon parcels with anti-bac.
It has been disturbing to learn that people you thought you could trust are as mad as the rest of the herd.
3. You Can Understand How Hitler Happened.
Too many people enjoy imposing rules on others. Corona has unleashed the militant side of busybodies who used to be harmless, grumpy old men and women and are now something akin to the neighborhood Gestapo. They enjoy telling you how to ride your bike, how far away you have to stand for their safety, and how many times you can walk your dog.
I took my children surfing at a local beach and residents were demanding to know ‘where we came from’ – like Germans checking papers in the war. My 15-year-old replied, ‘Wuhan,’ and that seemed to end the conversation quite effectively.
Stanley Milgram’s electric shock studies from the 1960s, in which volunteers were prepared to inflict pain on others when ordered to do so, now make perfect sense. I never really understood how Hitler brainwashed so many people for so long, until coronavirus came along.
4. Politicians Will Cover their Backs at all Costs.
And I mean all costs. The UK should never have been in lockdown.
All decisions made after 24 March 2020 have been about maintaining the myth that lockdown was necessary, solely to cover the backs of those who created it. The evidence is right there in our faces: enormous emergency hospitals opened to great applause, then quietly mothballed because they were never needed. You may try and argue that empty hospitals are a good thing, but if there was so much extra capacity, why did the British NHS send elderly patients with COVID-19 back to care homes and cancel all cancer and cardiac treatments?
As we “speak” here, yet another Zombie Hospital is being built for patients that don’t exist for a threat that never was. A team of 100 builders are working full-time to create 120 beds in a hospital that will not have its own staff, in a part of the country with the fewest cases of coronavirus. I went to visit the build-site to see for myself.
Watch Katie’s video: ‘Another Zombie Hospital for Invisible Patients’:
5. I Quite Like My Family.
It’s not that I disliked them before, you understand. But being on the road three weeks out of four fighting for the Conservative cause means I didn’t get to see a whole lot of them. Plus, they have their own busy lives regardless of what I am up to: school, friends, trips, work. In “normal times” our home was a buzzing hive of activity, and the little Hopkins tribe were like bees, sometimes angry, sometimes sleepy, passing each other on our way in or out.
Coronavirus has stopped all that. Like many other families, most of our time is now spent with each other.
I am not saying there haven’t been times I have locked myself in a bathroom and screamed silently into a bath towel. I absolutely lost it the other day when I felt my family was not taking our family quiz seriously enough, but, generally, it turns out my family is actually rather nice. And I know I am lucky.
We are wonky in all the wrong places, not so great at math challenges and pretty hopeless at looking cool. I suspect we are more Addams Family than Whole Foods Family, but my mother and I have spent proper time together having picnics in the sunshine, my father has built me the sweetest postbox in the world, and my children and I have cycled endlessly, like a little flotilla of ducks on the water. I know other families are not so lucky, and I wish I could take their children to the countryside and put them under my wing too.
I have hated coronavirus: the malevolence of China and its virus, the British Government’s reaction to it, the destruction of jobs, the vile behavior of my neighbors, the willingness of some to comply with idiocy.
But I have loved allowing myself to be a daughter and a mum, and letting those things matter more.

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- America is first and foremost a Christian Nation. This isn’t hypothesis, or hyperbole, or manifestation of hysteria. It is fact. This fact is the backbone and linchpin of our Constitution. It is the foundation of our natural rights; rights bestowed on man by a loving, Divine Creator. It is a self-evident truth.
In recent years, the would-be destroyers of our Nation have attacked this notion; and, with the intentional or reckless unleashing of a pandemic on our Nation and on other nations by the amoral, irreligious, autocratic, and diabolical, Communist regime of Xi Jinping of China, the would-be destroyers of our Nation have renewed their assault on the Christian Church. They have done so with unusual feral ferocity.
Who are these would-be destroyers of our Constitution; these betrayers of our National heritage, of our natural rights and liberties; these sowers of ill will; these destructive, hateful forces who disingenuously, hypocritically, coldly, callously, calculatedly assert a need, an impulse to tear down the Christian framework of our Nation, ostensibly, as they say, or so they claim, to save it? We know them. They are all around us. They comprise an heterogeneous, amorphous conglomeration of malcontents both here and abroad who seek to remake the world in their own image: Marxists, Communists, Socialists, Anarchists, Neoliberal Billionaire Globalists, and others. They share the same belief system, the same value system: distrust of the common man; a strong, tenacious, insatiable desire to subjugate humanity; and a bias toward and a disturbing penchant for Atheism, Agnosticism, Satanism, and concomitant amorality, immorality, or pseudo-morality albeit disguised as seemingly benign secularism, moral relativism, and nontheistic humanism.
A Modern Civil War
America is in the midst of a Civil War. This war isn’t fought with guns or bombs, at least for the moment. But it’s war, nonetheless. We see this war waged in the attempt to control the mind, the thoughts of Americans. The despoilers of our Nation have sought to drive a wedge between Americans and their sacred rights and liberties. If successful, our Nation will cease to exist, for the sovereignty of the American people exists and thrives only in the unfettered exercise of their God-given rights and liberties. For only in the exercise of those rights and liberties may the power of Government be restrained and constrained.
These would-be annihilators of our Nation use calamity to drive a wedge between the citizenry and their fundamental rights and liberties. They are adept at seducing many Americans to surrender their rights and liberties for security. Recall Benjamin Franklin’s famous, oft reiterated, prescient quote: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
After the attack on the World Trade Center, the assassins of our Bill of Rights said Americans don’t require freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures because Government must protect Americans from terrorists; ergo, Americans came to lose their sovereignty through a slow, inexorable process toward creation of the Surveillance State, and the concomitant whittling away of the sacred right embodied in the Fourth Amendment.
After some lunatics went on a shooting binge, in the last couple of decades the assassins of our Bill of Rights said Americans ought not exercise their unalienable God-given right to keep and bear arms because Government must promote public safety and ensure public order; ergo, we see the rapid evolution toward restricting ownership and possession of firearms, and the concomitant whittling away of the sacred right embodied in the Second Amendment.
And now, with the Chinese Communist Coronavirus unleashed upon us, the assassins of our Bill of Rights have said Government must constrain the free exercise of religion, restrain the freedom of speech, preclude the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to curtail the right of the people to petition the Government for a redress of grievances; ergo we see the rapid evolution toward controlling the thoughts and actions of the citizenry; the subjugation of the people, and the concomitant whittling away of the sacred rights embodied in the First Amendment.
State Governments Prepared To Use Force To Demand Church Closures
Ironically, it isn’t the Federal Government, but the Governors of a few States who seek to curtail the free exercise of religion.
With all the bluster of the Radical Left that calls President Trump an autocrat, the actions of Radical Left Governors make plain who the autocrats really are.
Radical Left New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, California Governor, Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have closed churches claiming, as a rationale, the need to promote public health due to the Chinese Coronavirus.
Unsurprisingly, a website that calls itself, the “Friendly Atheist,” says, that State Governors can do this:
“ ‘Policies don’t violate religious freedom laws if they’re created in order to save people’s lives,’ said Michael Moreland, director of the Ellen H. McCullen Center for Law, Religion and Public Policy at Villanova University.” ‘So long as those restrictions are neutral and applicable to everybody, religious institutions have to abide by them,’ he said. . . . So, yes, governors can and should shut down church gatherings in the same way they’re shutting down public schools and restaurants. Treat them fairly. Treat them equally. There’s nothing illegal going on no matter how many pastors whine about religious discrimination.”
Let’s parse a couple of these comments. First, the “Friendly Atheist” draws a false dilemma, claiming that either Churches remain closed or people fall sick and die. That’s untrue. Churches are cognizant of the threat. They have been implementing proper protocols to preclude the spread of the Chinese Coronavirus. Second, the remark of the legal expert, Ellen McCullen is vague and ambiguous. She asserts, “So long as those restrictions are neutral and applicable to everybody, religious institutions have to abide by them.”
Is Ellen McCullen saying that, so long as State Governors force every religion to close its doors, not just Christian denominations, then Church closure orders are lawful? Or is McCullen saying that, as long as those restrictions apply to all political, social, and business organizations and establishments—truly, literally everyone, and every establishment, throughout a State, apart from hospitals, pharmacies, and food establishments—then Church closure orders are lawful? If the former statement is what McCullen means, then the Church closure actions are not “content-neutral,” and are therefore unconstitutional. If the latter statement is what McCullen means, then the Government ordered Church closure actions are likely still unconstitutional. Why? It comes down to what constitutes an “essential service,” terminology that State Governments themselves have concocted. No one would deny that severely ill people need the care of health care providers that, in many cases only hospitals can effectively provide. And no one can honestly deny that many people require prescription medicines to remain well. And no one can deny that everybody requires food sustenance to survive. What about Churches?
Is attendance at Church an essential service? Well, under both the test created by State Governors that like to draw distinction between essential and non-essential services, houses of worship do fall into the category of essential services, as spiritual need is arguably just as essential to well-being and survival as are food, medicine, and medical care. Moreover, the free exercise of religion isn’t a mere privilege, nor is it a minor right. It is a fundamental right. That right and the right of self-defense and personal autonomy are the most sacred of rights.
These State Governors are simply wrong. Churches must remain open in our free Republic.
Curiously, it is the U.S. President, not the State Governors who recognize the importance of our sacred rights and liberties. As just reported in the website, U.S. News, for one:
“President Donald Trump on Friday said he has deemed churches and other houses of worship ‘essential’ and called on governors to allow them to reopen this weekend despite the threat of the coronavirus.”
“ ‘Today I’m identifying houses of worship — churches, synagogues and mosques — as essential places that provide essential services,’ Trump said during a hastily arranged press conference Friday. He said if governors don’t abide by his request, he will ‘override’ them, though it’s unclear what authority he has to do so.”
Who is the autocrat? Who is the tyrant? It isn’t Donald Trump. The real autocrats and tyrants are those State Governors who usurp the sovereignty of the American people by daring to deny to them their fundamental right to worship the Divine Creator: the one Being who gave man free will, and who bestowed on man fundamental, unalienable, immutable rights.
There are those of us who adore the Divine Creator.
But for those who would deny the Divine Creator, there is no limit to their capacity for evil. They use a catastrophe as an excuse to destroy rights and liberties they never created yet have the effrontery to strike down. “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste:” Rahm’s Rule—the arrogant “first principle” of the deniers of the Divine Creator.

The attorney who drafted the “Declaration of Essentiality” sent a letter to the governor, declaring that the pastors were not asking permission: “This letter was not sent for the purposes of asking for permission.”
The Declaration began with this quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority.”
After briefly reviewing the case against Newsom’s onerous and unconstitutional edicts, it ended with this: “NOW THEREFORE, WE DECLARE THAT WE WILL RESUME IN-PERSON RELIGIOUS ASSEMBLIES BEGINNING ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST, MAY 31, 2020, OR SOONER.”
The letter to the governor ran 15 pages, outlining the legal case against Newsom’s infringements of precious rights guaranteed in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. In addition, it quoted large portions of the Declaration of Independence.
It included this from founders Madison and Jefferson:
James Madison once said, “All power is originally vested in, and consequently derived from, the people.” And Thomas Jefferson said, “Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
Our founding fathers did not intend to allow a single individual to establish law that permits the infringement upon individual liberties recognized in the Constitution.
This is especially true where one individual has issued executive orders to suspend the religious liberty of individuals to assemble together in worship of God.
The letter said, “We agree that the government has a legitimate interest in preventing the spread of COVID-19, but that interest cannot go unchecked.”
Therefore, “In order to restore the proper balance between public safety and individual liberties, the clergy we represent have declared their intent to begin holding in-person church services beginning on Sunday, May 31, 2020. All services will be held in compliance with CDC and state guidelines for social distancing as is required of “essential businesses.”
Robert Tyler, the attorney who drafted both the Declaration and the letter, said, “These pastors are willing to stand against the state and face fines or penalties in order to fulfill their calling and essential needs of those around them.”
May 31, the Day of Pentecost, is celebrated fifty days after Easter Sunday and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1-31).
It is often referred to as the birth of the Christian religion. In California this year, it will celebrate the birth of freedom from onerous and unconstitutional restrictions issued by the state. More than 3,000 churches are expected to join that celebration.

When paper towels were stuffed into toilets at the Atilis Gym on Wednesday, the owners were forced to close. It remained closed on Thursday. On Thursday night health officials attached a closure notice to the front door. On Friday the gym opened again.
A week ago the owners of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, New Jersey, wrote a letter to Governor Phil Murphy telling him that they were going to open their gym in defiance of his edict. They also announced their plans to open publicly, and when Monday morning came, members entered while supporters outside the gym waved American flags and cheered.
Governor Murphy was asked about the gym’s defiance of his orders on Monday afternoon and he warned the owners and their patrons, “If you show up at that gym tomorrow [Tuesday the 19th], there will be a different reality.”
The gym opened on Tuesday, following strict safety measures implemented by the two owners, Ian Smith and Frank Trumbetti. There was no “different reality.”
The gym opened again on Wednesday, following the safe measures. There was no “different reality” until Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday afternoon the gym’s toilets were sabotaged. Someone had stuffed paper towels into the toilets, causing them to overflow. Trumbetti told the press: “Just so you know, we do not even have paper towels in our bathrooms.”
Mediation teams worked on clearing the obstructions on Thursday. The gym remained closed for the day while the owners suggested members work out in the parking lot.
Late Thursday night, after the gym was closed, officials from the state health department taped a four-page notice to the front door. The notice said, in part, that although the gym “is purporting to take its own measures to address COVID-19 tranmission,” New Jersey cannot “simply allow business owners to set their own divergent health measures, done without the approval of the state and it’s [sic] health officials.”
The order went on to say that indoor gyms pose a “particularly high risk setting” because the members exercise there which “can increase the amount of respiratory droplets or aerosols in a confined setting.”
Trumbetti said the health officials attached the order “overnight, like cowards” and vowed to reopen on Friday: “We’re opening up tomorrow [Friday] morning, no matter what.”
Trumbetti asked rhetorically: “How is it possible that they can actually shut [us] down? If there is a problem based on the coronavirus, how can they shut us down but no other businesses in the same building [as our gym]?”
In explaining why they are defying Governor Murphy’s edict and the state’s order, Trumbetti said:
According to our beliefs, we have been allowing our members in because of the wording of Governor Murphy’s executive order stating the gym had to remain closed to the public.
We have stood firm. As long as we let members in, we are not doing anything that’s against the law and criminal.
The paperwork that’s on the window, we don’t know if it’s actually deemed legal or not because they put it on in the middle of the night. We were not served with those papers.
An Internet search just before publication of this article at 2 p.m. EST revealed nothing untoward. The gym appears to be open to its members, who are following the owners’ strict safety and health protocols.
Just in case the state ramps up legal action against the owners, a GoFundMe page has been created, which, when last checked, had raised nearly $70,000 to cover their legal costs.

Who are Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Heroes? Based on the $3 trillion HEROES Act that House Democrats have just unveiled, the answer is illegal aliens and criminals.
While the HEROES Act pretends to be about coronavirus relief, its focus is on immigration.
With over 20 million jobs lost in April, the HEROES Act goes to great lengths to make sure that millions of illegal aliens will still be able to keep their jobs, no matter how many Americans lose theirs.
Buried under the misleadingly titled, “Protections for Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers”, is a virtual blank check to keep illegal aliens from being deported. The HEROES Act’s definition of “critical infrastructure workers” covers cafeteria workers, warehouse janitors, and pet food delivery boys.
Anyone who works in virtually any field involving food in any way is a “critical infrastructure worker”. An illegal alien putting out mouse traps at any facility involving food from “wholesale to retail” is a critical worker. A vast array of call center workers and delivery people are covered. Even laundromat employees are critical infrastructure workers under the federal definition used by the HEROES Act.
The HEROES Act doesn’t just protect illegal aliens from deportation, but SEC. 191203 declares that “hiring” illegal aliens is not a violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act and that the aliens are “deemed to be in a period of deferred action and authorized for employment.”
Americans seeking jobs as essential workers will be forced to compete with newly legalized illegal aliens.
Even while tens of millions of Americans are out of work, Pelosi and the House Democrats are going to great lengths to protect the ability of employers to illegally hire illegal aliens while authorizing them to accept those jobs. And considering how Federal judges have defended DACA’s deferred action, this temporary deferral could effectively become a permanent amnesty for millions of illegals.
The HEROES Act is really a backdoor amnesty that will declare illegal aliens “heroes” for delivering pizza. And these heroes who delivered pizza and sprayed for roaches in a plant somewhere can’t be deported. Instead, they’re going to be honored and legalized while Americans lose their jobs, savings, and lives.
The HEROES Act may end up killing more Americans of employment age than the coronavirus will.
Pelosi’s boondoggle also extends visas for aliens already in this country, regardless of whether they’re “critical” workers or not, and ‘rolls over’ all the visas that weren’t issued during this time. The Democrats are determined not to miss a single chance to bring more of their voters into the United States.
The rollover provisions focus on chain migration via “family-sponsored immigrants”, “employment-based immigrants” and “diversity immigrants”. All of these are aspects of a broken immigration system.
SEC. 191204 or “Supplementing the COVID Response Workforce” expedites processing applications for aliens who “provide healthcare” within 30 days by email. Visa applications can be bypassed with video-conferencing, and interviews are waived. This could allow for bringing Syrian Islamic “health care workers” to this country with virtually no oversight or screening even though the shortage of personnel that is driving this strategy has never actually come into being and American workers are being furloughed at hospitals and medical centers that were prevented from performing most procedures.
American health care workers furloughed because of the lockdown may end up losing their jobs because the Democrats who praise them as “heroes” insist on bringing in foreign workers to take their place.
And these foreign health care workers are being brought in under the broad umbrella of “preventing COVID-19”. If we didn’t have open borders on the ground and in the air, there wouldn’t have been a Wuhan Virus to prevent. But even while claiming to fight a pandemic caused by a foreign virus, Pelosi and the Democrats want more immigration and more open borders to spread more pandemics.
SEC. 191205 seeks to free illegal aliens already in ICE custody with a review of “the immigration files of all individuals in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to assess the need for continued detention” to free those who are “not subject to mandatory detention laws.”
The section also demands that illegal aliens get free video chats, email access, and orders that pro-illegal alien lefty groups be given “broad and flexible access” to illegals.
But the HEROES Act doesn’t just settle for freeing illegal aliens, not when it can also free criminals.
The Dem bill seeks to free “vulnerable and low-risk individuals” in pre-trial detention. The definition of “vulnerable” is any prisoner over who is over 50 or under 18 who has, sickle-cell anemia, or asthma.
And how do Pelosi and her ilk define “low-risk”?
Any criminal who “does not pose a risk of serious, imminent injury to a reasonably identifiable person”.
That covers criminals who pose a risk of serious, imminent injury to any random member of the public.
Criminals who pose a risk of serious, but not imminent injury, criminals who pose a risk of imminent, but not serious injury, and criminals who pose a serious, imminent risk of injury to someone who can’t be reasonably identified, could all be considered “low-risk” by the jailbreaking HEROES Act.
Under these parameters, an asthmatic serial killer ought to be considered low-risk because we can’t identify whom he might chop to bits. A paranoid schizophrenic who only seriously assaults people when he goes off his medication could be considered to pose a risk of serious, but not imminent injury.
And, of course, muggers who don’t seriously hurt their victims would be considered low-risk. Ditto for car thieves, burglars, assorted robbers, and any felon who isn’t walking around with a sign reading, “I will kill Andrew next Tuesday”. And even then, we might not be “reasonably” sure which Andrew he means.
These are the heroes of Pelosi’s HEROES Act.
There’s also money for “safe and sanitary temporary transitional housing” and facilitating “family reunification” for the released criminals. And a push for applying “all pre- and post-adjudication release processes and mechanisms applicable to juveniles… as quickly as possible”.
That would cover 17-year-old offenders.
Pelosi and her Democrat allies claim to be very concerned about inmates in custody contracting the coronavirus. And yet after months of this, the predicted mass death tolls in prisons haven’t happened. Instead the elderly have been dying in large numbers in nursing homes. If the Democrats were really concerned, they would cut off funding to any municipality arresting people over social distancing.
But the Dems seem happy with a state of affairs in which citizens are arrested and criminals are freed.
The HEROES Act contains plenty that is bad, including a waiver of the Buy American Act that is a free gift to the People’s Republic of China, but its obsession with criminals and illegal aliens, at the expense of Americans, shows who Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats think that they’re really in office to serve.
While Americans are put out of work, the Democrats help illegal aliens hang on to their jobs. And while Americans are locked up for trying to cut hair, go for a walk, or play catch, criminals are set free.
The Democrat coronatopia is a place where criminals are free and everyone else is in prison, and where only government officials and illegal aliens have jobs.
RALEIGH, N.C. — A U.S. district judge in North Carolina has ruled in favor of two churches and a ministry that want to hold indoor services but feel prevented from doing so as executive orders from Gov. Roy Cooper have limited “mass gatherings” to 10 people and a later directive said that larger meetings should “take place outdoors unless impossible.” The judge stated that there is no good reason why churches can’t have indoor services — with social distancing and other protective measures in place — when funeral homes and other locations are allowed to accommodate dozens of people.
“There is no pandemic exception to the Constitution of the United States or the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment,” wrote Judge James Dever III, nominated to the bench by then-President George W. Bush.
“Plaintiffs have demonstrated that they are likely to succeed on the merits of their Free Exercise claim concerning the assembly for religious worship provisions in Executive Order 138, that they will suffer irreparable harm absent a temporary restraining order, that the equities tip in their favor, and that a temporary restraining order is in the public interest.”
In March, Gov. Cooper issued Executive Order 116, declaring a state emergency, followed by a series of executive orders, such as order 121, which defined “mass gatherings” as “any event or convening that brings together more than ten (10) persons in a single room or single space at the same time.” Religious services were specifically held to this 10-person limit, while funeral services were limited to 50 people.
Earlier this month, Cooper issued a new order, Executive Order 138, which allowed religious gatherings of more than 10 people, but with the notation that such gatherings should “take place outdoors unless impossible.”
Guidance issued by the director of Legislative Affairs outlined in further detail on the “impossible” factor, “For example, there may be situations in which particular religious beliefs dictate that some or all of a religious service must be held indoors and that more than ten persons must be in attendance.”
Two churches, Berean Baptist Church and People’s Baptist Church, along with the organization Return America, sued Cooper on Thursday, asserting that the “outdoors unless impossible” requirement violates their First Amendment rights under the Free Exercise Clause.
While Judge Dever noted on Saturday that “[n]o constitutional right — including the right of free exercise of religion — is absolute,” he expressed concern that law enforcement would be the final arbiter of whether it is deemed “impossible” for any particular church to meet outside.
He also pointed out that legal representation for Cooper “could not explain why the governor trusts those who run funerals to have 50 people inside to attend the funeral, but only trusts religious entities and individuals to have 10 people inside to worship.”
“Eleven men and women can stand side by side working indoors Monday through Friday at a hospital, at a plant, or at a package distribution center and be trusted to follow social distancing and hygiene guidance, but those same eleven men and women cannot be trusted to do the same when they worship inside together on Saturday or Sunday. ‘The distinction defies explanation, or at least the governor has not provided one,’” Dever wrote.
He outlined that the churches plan to exercise safety guidelines to protect its members and that those who worship are the same people who go to the stores to shop, and they would not behave any differently based on location.
“[C]ommon sense suggests that religious leaders and worshipers (whether inside or outside North Carolina) have every incentive to behave safely and responsibly whether working indoors, shopping indoors, or worshiping indoors,” Dever said. “The governor cannot treat religious worship as a world apart from non-religious activities with no good, or more importantly, constitutional, explanation.”
“Plaintiffs have pledged to adhere to ‘all recommended COVID-19 social distancing and personal hygiene safety guidelines’ in exercising their free exercise rights,” he noted. “They simply want the governor to afford them the same treatment as they and their fellow non-religious citizens receive when they work at a plant, clean an office, ride a bus, shop at a store, or mourn someone they love at a funeral.”
Ultimately, Dever found that the order does not meet the “narrowly tailored” and “least restrictive means” prongs of the strict scrutiny standard in legal precedent.
“The court trusts worshipers and their leaders to look after one another and society while exercising their free exercise rights just as they and their fellow citizens (whether religious or not) do when engaged in non-religious activities,” he wrote. “Plaintiffs have pledged to practice social distancing and other public health guidelines, just like others under EO 138. Accordingly, the equities tip in favor of granting a temporary restraining order.”
Cooper’s office says it disagrees with the ruling but does not plan to appeal.
“We don’t want indoor meetings to become hotspots for the virus, and our health experts continue to warn that large groups sitting together inside for long periods of time are much more likely to cause the spread of COVID-19,” a statement, as reported by local television station WRAL, reads.
“We urge houses of worship and leaders to voluntarily follow public health guidance to keep their members safe.”
