Hurricane Erin has brought dangerous coastal flooding, powerful surf, and life-threatening rip currents to New Jersey as the storm churns offshore. Entire streets in Wildwood, Atlantic City, and Long Beach Island were swallowed by floodwaters, forcing evacuations and shutting down major roads as emergency crews worked through the night. Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on Thursday, warning residents to avoid the water and prepare for repeated high-tide flooding. Waves as high as sixteen feet pounded the Jersey Shore, creating the roughest surf since Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020, while rip currents made swimming impossible and extremely dangerous. Police in Wildwood and Egg Harbor Township confirmed that motel guests and residents of low-lying areas were evacuated to safety as water levels rose quickly. The National Weather Service has issued coastal flood warnings and advisories across multiple counties through Saturday, urging caution as erosion and flooding are expected to continue.

Trump Slams ‘Radical Left Lunatic Judge’ in Deportation Case

President Donald Trump early Wednesday once again slammed U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, calling him a "Radical Left Lunatic Judge" for his weekend order to stop deportation flights from removing alleged gang members from the country.

"If a President doesn't have the right to throw murderers and other criminals out of our Country because a Radical Left Lunatic Judge wants to assume the role of President, then our Country is in very big trouble and destined to fail!" The president posted on his Truth Social page, a day after a separate post calling for Boasberg's impeachment.

Boasberg, a District of Columbia federal judge appointed by former President Barack Obama, Saturday issued a 14-day temporary block on Trump being able to use the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 while deporting 238 alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

In his order, Boasberg, the chief judge of the federal district court, said that any flights in the air with the deportees should return to the United States, but the Trump administration argues that the planes were already gone when the order was issued.

Trump on Tuesday said in an interview that "many people" have called for Boasberg's impeachment.

"I don't know who the judge is, but he's radical left," he told Fox News. "He was Obama-appointed, and he said we shouldn't be able to take criminals, killers, murderers, horrible, the worst people, gang members, gang leaders, that we shouldn't be allowed to take them out of our country. It's not for a local judge to be making that determination."

Trump also dismissed a rebuke from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who issued a statement after Trump called for the judge to be impeached, saying, "For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose."

"He didn't mention my name in the statement," Trump said. "I just saw it quickly. He didn't mention my name."

Meanwhile, Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, on Tuesday introduced a resolution to impeach Boasberg.

To impeach a federal judge, a simple majority must be reached in the House, but would then go to the Senate, where a trial would be held. It would take a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate to convict the judge and remove him from the bench.

A federal judge on Tuesday declined to block Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency from accessing government data and firing federal employees. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan declined to grant the plaintiffs' request to issue a temporary restraining order, citing what she said was their failure to demonstrate evidence of "irreparable harm" caused by DOGE's access. "Plaintiffs legitimately call into question what appears to be the unchecked authority of an unelected individual and an entity that was not created by Congress and over which it has no oversight," Chutkan, an Obama appointee, said Tuesday. "In these circumstances, it must be indisputable that this court acts within the bounds of its authority. Accordingly, the Court cannot issue a TRO, especially one as wide-ranging as Plaintiffs request, without clear evidence of imminent, irreparable harm to these Plaintiffs. The current record does not meet that standard." Russia and the U.S. agreed Tuesday to start working toward ending the war in Ukraine and improving their diplomatic and economic ties, the two countries’ top diplomats said after talks that reflected an extraordinary about-face in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump. In an interview with The Associated Press after the meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the two sides agreed broadly to pursue three goals: to restore staffing at their respective embassies in Washington and Moscow, to create a high-level team to support Ukraine peace talks and to explore closer relations and economic cooperation. He stressed, however, that the talks — which were attended by his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and other senior Russian and U.S. officials — marked the beginning of a conversation, and more work needs to be done.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Representative Elise Stefanik has slammed Democrats over “scare tactics” used regarding former President Donald Trump’s stance on women’s issues such as abortion and IVF access.

On Sunday, Stefanik (R-N.Y.) appeared on Fox News, where she said how Trump has repeatedly stated he would not sign a national abortion ban. 

The representative reiterated how Trump “believes this issue should be decided at the states” and supports three exceptions for abortions in circumstances of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother. 

“When it comes to IVF, that is a false smear,” Stefanik told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream. “President Trump wants to expand access to IVF and make birth control available, and the reason why Democrats are only talking about this issue is because these are scare tactics because they are losing on every other issue. Whether it’s the economy, the border, safety and security around the world, we’re going to run and win, and I think that women, when they look at the key top issues, are increasingly looking at their lives were much better under President Trump versus the crises that we’ve seen under Kamala Harris today.”

This came as, at a recent campaign stop in Wisconsin, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that Trump would “ban abortion nationwide, restrict access to birth control, put IVF treatments at risk, and force states to get this monitor women’s pregnancies.” 

Stefanik also criticized Harris for failing to condemn Mark Cuban’s recent remarks about female Trump supporters. 

Cuban recently received criticism for suggesting that Trump fails to surround himself with “strong, intelligent women,” claiming that they intimidate and challenge him.

Stefanik noted that she, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-Ark.), and Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump have been traveling across the country as Trump campaign surrogates. She stated that during Trump’s administration, the United States had “the highest number of women ever in the workforce, the largest wage and salary increase for working women ever,” and that “child care was affordable.”
