President Donald Trump has officially signed the Laken Riley Act into law, making the measure the first piece of legislation to receive the president’s signature and seal of approval since his return back to the White House.

The bill, which was signed by Trump on Wednesday, mandates that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) must detain all illegal immigrants who are arrested for non-violent crimes, such as theft, or violent crimes, such as murder, rape, or assault. The bill includes those who are seeking asylum in the United States.

The bill also allows state attorneys general to sue the federal government — should they believe that their states have been negatively affected by the country’s failure to enforce immigration laws.

In his opening remarks, Trump highlighted how this bill, as a rare occurrence, successfully brought members from both sides of the aisle, Republicans and Democrats, together.

“This is something that has brought Democrats and Republicans together. That’s not easy to do,” Trump said. “Laken did it. America will never ever forget Laken Hope Riley.”

Additionally, he expressed that during an administration that prioritized undocumented foreigners over U.S. citizens, the courageous 22-year-old woman, who fought for her life but was still tragically murdered by an illegal immigrant– will always be remembered by America. As a kind of remembrance, the bill bears her name.

Following Trump’s message, Riley’s mother took to the podium to speak.

There, she thanked President Trump for keeping his promise to secure America’s borders, stopping any future tragedies of a similar nature from occurring again, at least for the next four years, and for promising to never forget about her brave daughter.

“We want to thank President Trump for the promises he made to us. He said he would secure our borders and that he would never forget about Laken,” Allyson Phillips, Riley’s mom, stated. “He’s a man of his word. We trust that he will fight for the American people.”

The bill is named after the 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was murdered in February 2024 by Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan national who was in the U.S. illegally, while she was out for a run.

Prior to murdering Laken, Ibarra was previously arrested for illegally entering the U.S. in September 2022.

According to federal officials, he was also arrested for a second time in 2023 for child endangerment. However, he was released due to Biden’s loose “catch and release” border policies. The last time he was arrested was back in 2023 — for shoplifting.

President Trump’s Felony Conviction & Firearms Possession ~ VIDEO

NRA’s Political Victory Fund Endorses President Donald J. Trump
NRA’s Political Victory Fund Endorses President Donald J. Trump

Former and Current President Trump is now a convicted felon in the State of New York.

The abuse of the judicial system by the prosecutor and judge is some of the worst seen by astute, leftist legal commentators such as Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz.

Dershowitz goes so far as to call him “a convicted innocent man”. He says there were 34 non-crimes President Trump was convicted of.

At left of center Politifact, this question was raised: From Politifact:

President-elect Donald Trump’s Jan. 10 felony sentencing raised questions on social media about his rights: Can he vote, travel internationally and own a gun?

Yes, likely, and no.

It is unlikely that the guilty verdict in the outrageous anti-Trump lawfare case in New York will survive for long.  When President Trump is sworn in to office, presidential immunity will apply to his second term in his presidency. The verdict will almost certainly be reversed long before that term ends. As Jonathan Turley notes:

The case has long been denounced by objective legal observers, including intense Trump critics, as a legal absurdity. Even CNN’s senior legal analyst Elie Honig denounced the case as legally flawed and unprecedented, while Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., simply called it total “b—s–t.”

It is a case based on a non-crime. Bragg took a long-dead misdemeanor and zapped it back to life with a novel and unfounded theory. By using federal violations that were never charged, let alone tried, Bragg turned a misdemeanor into dozens of felonies and essentially tried Trump for federal offenses.

In spite of a looming reversal, the conviction has positive implications for Second Amendment supporters and supporters of limited government in general.

There are cases moving forward in the legal system challenging the federal law, which bans all “felons” from possessing or owning firearms and ammunition. This is a relatively new federal crime, which came into being in 1968. Some courts have already declared the federal ban to be unconstitutional for non-violent offenses. The case most likely to be heard by the Supreme Court is Range v Lombardo, from the Third Circuit.

At the Supreme Court level, the justices are certain to learn more about the laughable felony convictions of President Donald Trump. The Supreme Court has a good chance of hearing the case if the New York Courts fail to do their duty.  The Trump case is a near-perfect example of judicial overreach and lawfare. The idea of a Presidential candidate being stripped of a fundamental, in-numerated, Constitutional right, without any hint of violence, is likely to make an impression about the absurdity of many felony laws in the current United States of America.

President Trump will be affected. It is one thing to generally be in favor of restoring rights protected by the Second Amendment. It is more personal and significant to have infringements on Second Amendment rights used directly against you in a preposterous way.

President Trump has done more for the restoration of Second Amendment rights than any President before him.

He has not demonstrated an intimate understanding of the war to restore those rights or the intricacies of the battles involved. In the future, the intimacy of the lawfare used against him may make the restoration of Second Amendment rights a personal battle for President Trump.

TRUMP’S TO-DO LIST: Incoming president faces ‘different world’ in second term

Trump Vows To Introduce A New Age Of American ‘Prosperity, Dignity, And Pride’

President-elect Donald Trump spoke of a new era of American “prosperity, dignity, and pride,” during his Sunday speech at a victory rally in Washington, D.C.

“Tomorrow at noon, the curtain closes on four long years of American decline, and we begin a brand-new day of American strength, prosperity, dignity, and pride,” Trump stated as attendees cheered on the incoming 47th president.

“Once and for all, we’re going to end the reign of a failed and corrupt political establishment in Washington. A failed administration. We’re not going to take it anymore. We’re going to stop the invasion of our borders, we’re going to reclaim our wealth, we’re going to unlock the liquid gold that’s right under our feet,” Trump continued.

The 47th president-elect went on to discuss the ongoing ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which saw the release of three hostages back into Israel proper.

The ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas has widely been attributed to Trump’s team putting pressure on the two sides to close a deal prior to Trump entering office.

“I’m glad to report that the first hostages have just been released. And who knows what’s going to happen. I know that Biden may think that they made the deal,” Trump stated. “First of all, it would have never happened if I were president.”

“Our incoming administration has achieved all of this in the Middle East in less than three months. Without being president, we’ve achieved more … than they’ve achieved in four years of being president,” Trump continued.

Trump went on to discuss the return of TikTok after the app was banned for users in America following President Joe Biden’s legislation requiring the Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app citing “national security” concerns.

“As of today, TikTok is back. So, you know, I did a little TikTok, saying, we have a guy,” Trump stated, referencing his social media strategist, Jack Advent.

“TikTok Jack is a young kid, like 21 years old. We hired this guy and I went on TikTok. Can you believe we’d go on to win an election?”

“And we went on TikTok. And Republicans have never won the young vote, the youth vote. They won a lot of votes, but they never won the youth vote. We won the youth vote by 36 points,” he continued. “So I like TikTok.”

Trump also announced that his administration plans on releasing classified documents pertaining to the assassinations of former presidents John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

“As a first step toward restoring transparency and accountability to government, we will also reverse the over-classification of government documents and in the coming days we are going to make public the remaining records relating to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, as well as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” Trump stated.

Additionally, Trump also revealed his plans to issue over 100 executive actions on Day 1, placing an emphasis on border security, slashing overbearing regulations, and increasing U.S. energy production, according to CNN.

“Somebody said yesterday, ‘Sir, don’t sign so many (executive orders) in one day; let’s do it over a period of weeks.’ I said, ‘Like hell we’re going to do it over weeks, we’re going to sign them all at the beginning,’” Trump stated. “We’ll have plenty to sign in the future, don’t worry about that. It’s not going to stop.”

“Every radical and foolish executive order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of when I take the oath of office,” he added. “You’re going to have a lot of fun watching television tomorrow.”

Trump also spoke out on the devastation of the Los Angeles wildfires, promising to “be there very soon.”

“I also want to send our love to everyone affected by the terrible wildfires raging in California. We’re praying for you all. We love you all. We’re going to be there very soon. I’m going to go out there on Friday to see it and get it moving back up,” he stated.

“Together we will rebuild Los Angeles better and more beautiful than ever before. We’re going to get it going. We have the best builders in the world. … And in 2028, the Los Angeles Olympics will be one of the great sporting events and patriotic celebrations in history.”
