60 Days In, How Is AG Pamela Bondi Doing Defending the Second Amendment

What Is AG Pamela Bondi Doing? Take Our Reader Poll!

It’s been roughly 60 days since Pamela Bondi stepped up as Attorney General under President Trump, and the pro-gun community is talking.

For those of us who live and breathe the Second Amendment, a Trump appointee like Bondi comes with big expectations. Two months in, though, the word on platforms like X and in gun circles is a mixed bag. Is she the 2A defender we’ve been waiting for, or is she falling short?

Read the rundown based on what’s out there, and take our Reader Poll!

The Good: Bondi’s Pro-Gun Moves

Bondi’s made some moves that have gun folks nodding in approval. In February, she fired the ATF’s General Counsel, Pamela Hicks, with a sharp statement: “These people were targeting gun owners. Not going to happen under this administration.”

That’s a solid hit against an agency we all see as overreaching. Then, in late March, she launched a DOJ investigation into Los Angeles County’s Second Amendment practices, declaring, “The Second Amendment is not a second-class right.” Pro-gun groups have given her a thumbs-up for that, calling it a strong first step.

These actions show she’s willing to push back on anti-gun efforts, and that’s got some folks hopeful.

The Bad: What’s Happening with Adani?

Then there’s the Patrick “Tate” Adamiak case, and it’s a sore spot. This former Navy sailor’s been in prison for 30 months, facing a 20-year sentence, all tied to what Lee Williams calls fake ATF evidence—think toy guns twisted into “machineguns” by a questionable ATF tech. Federal prosecutors under Bondi’s DOJ are still fighting his appeal, sticking to the ATF’s story. Lee’s recent article laid out the details, and the pro-gun reaction was fierce. Some have asked why Bondi isn’t stepping in to stop this. Others demanded she sack the prosecutors involved.

For a guy who just wants to serve his country again, it’s tough to see her not acting. Is she too tied up, or is this not on her radar?

The Ugly: Trust Issues Hang Around

Here’s the kicker: Bondi’s got a past that doesn’t sit right with everyone. As Florida’s AG, she backed red flag laws and age restrictions for gun purchases after Parkland. That’s still fresh for a lot of gun owners—X posts from the last two months keep bringing it up, pointing to her “unconstitutional” stances. Even with her recent pro-2A actions, some see her as inconsistent. There’s grumbling that DOJ attorneys under her are still pushing anti-gun arguments in court, like in cases challenging young adults’ rights.

It feels like she’s half in the fight, half stuck in the old habits.

What’s the Buzz?

The pro-gun crowd’s divided. On X, some praise her ATF shakeup but say she needs to do more. Others argue she’s swamped fixing a messed-up system. The FBI Deputy Director, Dan Bongino, dropped a message saying, “Just because you don’t immediately see it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.” However, not everyone’s buying that excuse.

“A patriot’s losing his rights for what?” one voice shot back. There’s speculation she might not even know about Adamiak, with hopes pinned on a Trump pardon instead. Meanwhile, calls to flood her inbox and the White House with messages are gaining traction—complete with how-to guides floating around. The vibe? We’re watching closely and not staying quiet.

The Bottom Line

Bondi’s at a turning point. She’s got the power to be a Second Amendment hero, but she’s got to prove it. Firing ATF brass and probing LA County are big, but letting an innocent woman sit in jail while her team plays hardball? That’s a miss. Her past raises eyebrows, but her next moves could settle the score. Two months isn’t the whole story, but it’s enough to show where she’s leaning. Right now, it’s anyone’s guess.

A.G. Pam Bondi Orders FBI to Turn Over Thousands of Epstein Docs

By Michael Katz    |   Thursday, 27 February 2025 08:03 PM EST

Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded Thursday that the FBI turn over thousands of pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender who died by suicide in federal custody in 2019.

In a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, Bondi wrote that she told Patel before his Senate confirmation that she wanted all the files related to Epstein, who often socialized with celebrities, royalty and other powerful individuals, including on a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bondi wrote that after she spoke with Patel, she received 200 pages that contained flight logs, a list of Epstein's contacts, and a list of victims' names and phone numbers. Also Thursday, the Department of Justice announced the first phase in the release of Epstein documents that had been leaked but not formally distributed by the government, including flight logs and Epstein's personal address book.

Bondi wrote that a source told her the FBI's field office in New York possessed thousands of pages of documents related to the investigation and indictment of Epstein.

Epstein was charged in July 2019 in New York with sexually exploiting and abusing dozens of underage girls by enticing them to engage in sex acts with him in exchange for money. The next month, he was found dead in his jail cell of an apparent suicide. Ghislaine Maxwell, who recruited young girls for Epstein, was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking and conspiracy to help him procure girls, but no client names were revealed during her trial. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Bondi wrote that despite her repeated requests, she was never notified about the files held by the New York field office.

"When you and I spoke yesterday, you were just as surprised as I was to learn this new information," she wrote to Patel. "By 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, February 28, the FBI will deliver the full and complete Epstein files to my office, including all records, documents, audio and video recordings, and materials related to Jeffrey Epstein and his clients, regardless of how such information was obtained.

"There will be no withholding of limitations to my or your access. The Department of Justice will ensure that any public disclosure of these files is done in a matter to protect the privacy of victims and in accordance with the law, as I have done throughout my entire professional career."

Bondi, a former Florida attorney general, also requested that Patel investigate as to why her original order was not followed and to report to her the findings and any recommendations for personnel action within 14 days.

"I appreciate your immediate attention to this important matter," Bondi wrote. "I know that we are both committed to transparency for the American people, and I look forward to continuing to work with you to serve our President and our country."

Two Cases That Pam Bondi Should Revisit

On Friday, President Donald Trump issued an executive order demanding Attorney General Pam Bondi review any litigation that might have violated an American’s Second Amendment rights. Many cases could be reviewed, but a few stand out as violating not only someone’s right to bear arms but also free speech and entrapment.

The first case that the Department of Justice might review is the AutoKeyCard case. The case involves Kristopher Justin Irvin, who sold a novelty metal card with an image of a lightning bolt to inspire conversations about gun laws. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) saw the card and decided it was a machinegun conversion device (MCD). The ATF would arrest Mr. Irvin and charge him with violating the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA).

After Mr. Irvin was arrested, Matthew Hoover started raising money for his defense. Mr. Hoover ran a successful YouTube channel CRS Firearms. During Irvin’s time in business, he contracted Hoover to advertise the item on his YouTube channel. At no time was Mr. Hoover in business with Irvin, but the ATF didn’t appreciate actions to help Irvin defend himself in court.

The ATF would issue and execute an arrest warrant for Hoover, claiming that he and Irvin had entered a conspiracy to distribute machine guns. ATF attorney Laura Coffer Taylor contended that the fundraising for Irvin’s defense was the two trying to defeat the government so the two could continue to profit from selling machine guns. Mr. Hoover was also accused of distributing machine guns even though Irvin only sponsored his channel, and Hoover in no way sold the item.

Is the AutoKeyCard an MCD? The ATF told the court it was even though they could not get the device to function as a lightning link. When cut out along the lines, the ATF failed to get the device to fire automatically. This failure was due to the image not having the correct dimensions. The ATF materially altered the card by cutting outside the lines. That means their argument was based on the card being metal and how it was advertised. They argued that it didn’t matter that it didn’t work. They said the men thought they would, and that was intent.

The ATF never got the card to work correctly, even after cutting it out. They did get a hammer follow, which is a malfunction that causes the hammer to follow the bolt carrier back into battery after a shot is fired. This malfunction can happen for many reasons and does not indicate automatic fire.

The men’s lawyers were also prohibited from making a Second Amendment defense. The court limited their arguments, which adversely affected their defense. State’s Attorney Laura Coffey Taylor also filed an order to try to gag this reporter from reporting on documents that AmmoLand News legally received. Gun Owners of America (GOA) defended my right to freedom of the press. Ultimately, the ATF dropped their motion to gag me after a show of force in the courtroom by GOA attorneys.

Both men were found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison for a piece of non-functional art resembling an MCD. There is an ongoing appeal. The Department of Justice (DOJ) can step in and stop the violation of the men’s Second Amendment rights and their First Amendment rights.

The second case involves a Navy Sailor named Patrick Tate Adamiak. Mr. Adamiak served in the Navy with pride and also sold firearms part kits part-time. A confidential informant (CI) working for the ATF contacted Adamiak for help brokering a deal for a demilled machine gun parts kit being sold on Gun Broker. Mr. Adamiak believed the kit was demilled correctly since it was on Gun Broker. He purchased the kit and resold it to the CI.

The ATF determined the kit wasn’t properly demilled since it was cut with a bandsaw, not a torch. They raided Adamiak’s home and arrested him. During the search, they found power tools the sailor claimed to use to remodel his home. The ATF took a different view, arguing that the tools had to be used to make guns. The ATF also found a demilled RPG that Adamiak had purchased at a flea market in California.

The RPG did not have a fire control group and had a large circular hole cut in its side. The ATF welded the hole shut, claiming it wasn’t big enough, and installed a fire control unit. With the RPG rebuilt and rewelded, the ATF was able to get it to work. They would charge Adamiak with multiple NFA violations. Mr Adamiak was found guilty and is currently appealing the ruling to the Circuit Court.

The two cases show that the ATF can be overzealous in its prosecution of Americans instead of concentrating on real criminals. Under Trump’s executive order, the DOJ has an opportunity to make things right.

Bondi Orders An Immediate Pause On Federal Funding For Sanctuary Cities

Newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered federal funding to be cut off from all cities who hold a “sanctuary” status on Wednesday.

“[T]he Department of Justice will ensure that, consistent with the law, ‘sanctuary jurisdictions’ do not perceive access to federal funds from the Department,” she wrote.

“Consistent with applicable statutes, regulations, court orders, and terms, the Department of Justice shall pause the distribution of all funds until a review has been completed, terminate any agreements that are in violation of law or are the source of waste, fraud, or abuse, and initiate clawback or recoupment procedures, where appropriate,” Bondi continued.

Major cities with sanctuary laws include Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Diego, among others.

Bondi’s order is set to take effect immediately, pausing the distribution of federal funds for 60 days, and adds that the Department of Justice (DoJ) “shall not enter into any new contract, grant, or other agreement to provide Federal funding to non-governmental organizations that support or provide services, either directly or indirectly (e.g., through subcontracting or other arrangements) to removable or illegal aliens.”

Trump’s new attorney general has also ordered the DoJ to investigate incidents of jurisdictions actively working against federal law enforcement to prosecute those that are impeding deportation efforts.

The Justice Department previously provided $1.56 billion in federal grants to sanctuary cities in 2023 under the Biden administration — according to data from the Center for Immigration Studies.

ICE has been able to arrest over 8,000 illegal aliens since Trump took office, marking a drastic shift in immigration policy following Biden’s loose border policies.

Additionally, Bondi also revealed that the Trump administration will end the moratorium that the Biden administration previously endorsed on federal executions, while also “re-evaluat[ing] instances of the prior administration's decision not to seek the death penalty.”

Bondi announced plans to “completely eliminate” the cartel threat by temporarily suspending “bureaucratic approvals and reviews” — expediting the process of capturing dangerous criminals involved in egregious criminal activity.

Bondi noted that Joint Task Force Vulcan, which was created in 2019 to target MS-13, will be “further empowered and elevated” within Bondi’s DoJ, expanding the scope of the task force to turn their sights to Tren de Aragua, a dangerous Venezuelan gang which has factions within the U.S.

Josh Hawley RIPS INTO Biden’s Corrupt DOJ at Pam Bondi Hearing

Senator Josh Hawley calls out Merrick Garland and Joe Biden's weaponized Department of Justice during Pam Bondi's confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Hawley urged Bondi to clean up the DOJ, which she vowed to do when she becomes the new Attorney General.

HIGHLIGHTS: Pam Bondi DESTROYS Democrats at Confirmation Hearing

Pam Bondi entered her confirmation hearing exceptionally well prepared, showcasing an unbreakable focus on the mission of leading a politically neutral Department of Justice. Despite her emphasis on policies and commitment to serving the American people, some Democrats chose to target her character with personal attacks rather than engaging with her qualifications or vision. Bondi’s extensive pre-hearing outreach, including private meetings with nearly every member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, demonstrated her strategic and thoughtful approach to the confirmation process. Her unshakable composure during the hearing underscored her determination to rise above partisan bickering. Such tactics from Democrats risk overshadowing the critical conversation about justice and effective governance for the nation.
