Victor Davis Hanson: The Trump Counterrevolution’s Next Moves Abroad

President Donald Trump is leading a ā€œcounterrevolutionā€ of sorts when it comes to restoring order in America’s international relationships. Here’s the advice Victor Davis Hanson prescribes on today’s episode of ā€œVictor Davis Hanson: In His Own Wordsā€: ā€œā€Šā€ŠWe need to be very careful how we speak. The quieter we can be, the more effective and more encompassing can be the reforms. We're going to try to make sure that we're not an existential enemy of China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and an array of anti-Western societies. ā€œā€ŠAs far as Ukraine, Donald Trump is under all sorts of criticism because he, at first, had a legitimate beef with [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy. … All he has to say is, ā€˜Vladimir Putin did not invade during my first term. He invaded during Barack Obama's term and Joe Biden's term. Even during George W. Bush's term he invaded. It wasn't I who got us into this mess. We cannot watch aimlessly and helplessly as 1.5 million lives are consumed by death, wounding, capture, missing—these casualties.ā€™ā€

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that his administration is preparing to send 30,000 of the most violent and dangerous illegal aliens to Guantanamo Bay.

Guantanamo Bay, also known as GITMO, is a U.S. military prison within Naval Station Guantanamo Bay on the coast of GuantƔnamo Bay, Cuba.

ā€œToday I’m also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay,ā€ Trump stated. ā€œMost people don’t even know about it.ā€

ā€œSome of them are so bad, we don’t even trust their countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back,ā€ Trump continued. ā€œWe’re going to send them to Guantanamo.ā€

Trump’s latest initiative to crackdown on illegal immigration has resulted in U.S. law enforcement officials removing and returning at least 7,300 illegal aliens since Trump took office, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

ā€œMost people don’t even know that we have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,ā€ Trump highlighted. ā€œThis will double our capacity immediately… It’s a tough place to get out of.ā€

Trump’s order requires the DHS and the Defense Department to take ā€œall appropriate actions to expandā€ the facilities ā€œto full capacity to provide additional detention space for high-priority criminal aliens unlawfully present in the United States.ā€

At Gitmo, the U.S. had previously housed hundreds of individuals suspected of terrorism following the September 11th, 2001,Ā attacks on the World Trade Center. However, only 15 current terrorist suspects remain today.

Additionally, President Trump’s appointed border czar, Tom Homan, added that ā€œthere’s already a migrant centerā€ at the Cuban outpost that’s ā€œbeen there for decades.ā€

ā€œSo we’re just going to expand upon that existing migrant center,ā€ Homan continued, revealing that those sent to Cuba will be ā€œthe worst of the worst.ā€

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth noted that the facility is going to be used for ā€œtemporary transitā€ — processing and returning individuals to their countries in a safe manner.

Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel DĆaz-Canel slammed the decision, referring to the outpost as ā€œwell-known prisons of torture and illegal detention.ā€

English Translation:Ā ā€œIn an act of brutality, the new US government announces the imprisonment at the Guantanamo Naval Base, located in illegally occupied territory #Cuba , of thousands of migrants that it forcibly expels, and will place them next to the well-known prisons of torture and illegal detention,ā€ DĆaz-Canel wrote in an X post.

Chicago gangbangers rage against newly arrived Venezuelan migrants as Tren de Aragua moves in

After serving 20 years in state prison for murder, former gangbanger Tyrone Muhammad never expected to return to the city’s tough South Side to find Venezuelan migrants and criminal Tren de Aragua gang moving in. New York Post reporter Dana Kennedy shares this story. But Muhammad, 53, who’s gone straight and run a street patrol and violence prevention program called Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, says Venezuelan criminal gangs flooding shelters and taking over apartment buildings are the last straw for the struggling African-American community. He says they are furious at seeing government money going to what they call ā€œnon-citizens.ā€ ā€œIt is impossible to release gang members and criminals into our country through the borders and broken walls and infiltrate them in our community that’s already impoverished and broken,ā€ Muhammad told The Post last week on the O Block, a stretch along South King Drive that’s considered the most dangerous in the city.
