Tulsi Gabbard wrote in her resignation letter that she is stepping down to be with her husband while he battles a rare bone cancer.

This will be the first visit to China from a sitting U.S. president since Trump visited in 2017, Reuters reported. In Trump's first year back in office, China and the U.S. went tit for tat in a tariff trade war. The war in Iran is expected to be up for discussion on the visit, as China gets about 60% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said on social media on Monday that he was “very much looking forward” to his China visit and that “great things will happen for both countries”.
