An emotional moment inside the White House Cabinet Room, US President Donald Trump publicly thanked outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, praising her for what he called a dramatic transformation of America’s intelligence community before her sudden resignation. Trump expressed his "tremendous gratitude" for Gabbard during the Cabinet meeting at the White House. Tulsi Gabbard wrote in her resignation letter that she is stepping down to be with her husband while he battles a rare bone cancer.

This will be the first visit to China from a sitting U.S. president since Trump visited in 2017, Reuters reported. In Trump's first year back in office, China and the U.S. went tit for tat in a tariff trade war. The war in Iran is expected to be up for discussion on the visit, as China gets about 60% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Nine years since his first state visit to China, US President Donald Trump touches down in Beijing ahead of the highly anticipated China-US presidential summit. Trump said on social media on Monday that he was “very much looking forward” to his China visit and that “great things will happen for both countries”.
