Turkey seeks ‘healthier’ relationship with Biden administration, requests that US sanctions be dropped

Turkey’s presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalı has announced that “Biden’s transition team is eager to develop a good relationship with Ankara.” But in “an unusual snub for a powerful NATO ally,” Biden has (at the time of this writing) flatly ignored Erdogan’s request for a phone call.

The Trump administration placed sanctions on Turkey over its purchase of Russian s-400 missiles. On the face of it, it seems unlikely that Biden would remove those sanctions:

In an interview last January, Biden called Erdogan an “autocrat,” criticized his actions toward the Kurds and said that the Turkish leader “has to pay a price.” He also suggested the U.S. should support Turkish opposition leaders “to be able to take on and defeat Erdogan. Not by a coup, but by the electoral process.”

Turkey’s enthusiasm about a healthier relationship with the US may be premature.

“Turkey urges ‘review’ of US sanction decision over S-400s,” Al Jazeera, January 14, 2021:

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar has called on the upcoming Biden administration in the United States to engage in a dialogue with Ankara and to review a decision to sanction the country over its purchase of an advanced Russian air missile defence system.

“We are saying let’s not break things up in this way. Let’s sit down and talk and find a solution,” Akar said on Wednesday.

That request comes even though Washington has made clear that there can be no waiver of the sanctions until Ankara disposes of the Russian technology.

Speaking to reporters late on Wednesday, Akar would not be drawn into a question on whether Turkey would consider disposing of the Russian S-400 system amid US pressure. But he said he was hopeful that a solution can be found “through common sense before coming to that point”.

“It is a very problematic situation to turn back from the point we have come to. We invite [the US] to distance themselves from threatening language such as sanctions,” Akar told journalists in Ankara.

“We want the solution of problems through dialogue. If the US side wants a solution, a solution could be found with work on the technical level,” he said.

Second consignment of the S-400s?
Akar also said talks with Russia on acquiring a second consignment of the S-400 were continuing.

Ties between the two allies took a turn for the worse when in April 2017, Turkey signed a contract with Russia to acquire the state-of-the-art missile shield….

Israel carries out wave of air strikes on Iran-backed jihad militia positions in Syria

Israel accused Iran of “building up a force inside Syria and using the country to smuggle advanced weapons to Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement.”

Israel must persistently defend itself from a nation that routinely chants “Death to Israel.”

Adding to the Iranian threat to Israel and to the region, the IRGC boasted about new “missile cities” along the Gulf coastline, “warning of a “nightmare for Iran’s enemies”; and it has just unveiled a new underground missile city base on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Iran has also been rapidly escalating its Uranium enrichment to 20%, and has long admitted to violating the nuclear deal.

“Syria war: Suspected Israeli strikes on Iran-linked targets ‘kill dozens,’” BBC News, January 13, 2021:

Israel has reportedly carried out a wave of air strikes on Iran-backed militia positions in Syria overnight, in the fourth such attack in two weeks.

The Syrian state news agency Sana said Israeli aircraft attacked the eastern Deir al-Zour and Albu Kamal regions.

It did not mention any casualties, but the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 14 Syrian soldiers and 43 allied militiamen were killed.

Israel has not commented, but it often attacks Iran-linked targets in Syria.

The chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gen Aviv Kochavi, told Israeli media last month that it had struck more than 500 targets during 2020 “on all fronts, in addition to multiple clandestine missions”.

“The Iranian entrenchment in Syria is in a clear slowdown as a result of IDF activity, but we still have a long way to go to complete our goals,” he said.

Israel has accused its enemy of building up a force inside Syria and using the country to smuggle advanced weapons to Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement.

Iran is believed to have deployed hundreds of troops to Syria and to have armed, trained and financed thousands of Shia Muslim militiamen – from Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen – to support forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad in the nine-year Syrian civil war….

Massive Israeli Raid Hits Iranian Targets in Syria

In the deadliest airstrike of the war, Israeli planes conducted a massive raid on Iranian and Syrian positions in eastern Syria, killing 57.

At least 18 separate targets were hit, which included arms depots and military positions. At least 14 Syrian regime forces, 16 Iraqi militia fighters, and 11 Afghan members of the pro-Iran Fatimid Brigade were killed, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. There were 16 additional deaths of unknown national origin.

“This is the largest death toll from Israeli raids in Syria,” said the Syrian Observatory’s head, Rami Abdul Rahman.

Guardian:

Days before the strikes, the Fatimid Brigade transported a consignment of Iranian-manufactured weapons to eastern Syria from neighbouring Iraq, said the UK-based Observatory, which relies on a network of sources on the ground. They were stored in the region targeted overnight, it added.

It is less than a week since the last wave of Israeli strikes in Syria. On Thursday, Israel targeted positions in the south and in the southern outskirts of Damascus, killing three pro-Iran fighters.

One of the goals of the airstrikes has been to make it more difficult to use Iraq as a conduit for Iranian weapons. The Iraqi government doesn’t have much of a choice in allowing the transhipment of arms, even if they opposed it.

Israel had no comment on the raid but it’s clear that a new wind will be blowing through Washington and it will be decidedly chilly for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump’s administration, which is to make way for Joe Biden’s on 20 January, gave unprecedented US support to the government of the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In the dying days of the Trump administration, Netanyahu is trying to do as much damage as possible to the IRGC effort in Syria before Biden takes office,” said Nicholas Heras, of the Institute of the Study of War, referring to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Biden and Netanyahu are not ideological soulmates as Trump and the Israeli prime minister were. But that doesn’t mean that Biden would oppose Israel as it defends itself from Iranian aggression. Netanyahu will have to tread more carefully when it comes to the settlement policy, but Biden is expected to stand with Israel when it comes to its defense.

Reuters:

“Biden has to ask himself, exactly what is Iran after in Syria?” Israeli Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen said on Army Radio after the Israeli strikes.

Israel said it was retaliating for what it called an Iranian-sponsored operation in which Syrians planted explosives near an Israeli military base in the occupied Golan Heights.

With Biden moving inexorably toward some kind of accommodation with Iran, Netanyahu has to be wondering what that means for Israel. Biden almost certainly won’t sell out Israel in order to rejoin the nuclear agreement, but how far will he go to accede to Iranian wishes?  Biden opposes the BDS movement and has not made any statements about cutting U.S. aid to Israel. But the U.S. has been a rock in its support for Israel at the UN during the Trump administration and that will almost certainly change. Biden will seek to rejoin some of the agencies that Trump abandoned during his term for their bias against Israel.

That bias won’t change, but Biden will be more willing to accept it as a price of admission.

‘Allah be praised,’ says Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps commander as Iran unveils new ‘missile city’

At a ceremony, unveiling a new underground “missile city”, Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) Commander Hossein Salami issued a threat:

He added that these systems are ready to be launched if “the devils, the arrogant, and our enemies, decide [to attack Iran].”

Let’s hope the erratic, jihadist state of Iran doesn’t launch another “mistake,” as it did when it attacked the Ukraine international jet that killed all passengers and crew on board last year.

“IRGC Commander-In-Chief General Salami at Unveiling of New Missile Base,” MEMRI, January 8, 2021:

Khalijefars TV (Iran) aired a report about a new “missile city,” revealed in Hormozgan Province, Iran on January 8, 2021. Pakistan: Muslims pressure Christian women to convert to Islam and marry them, murder them when they refuse

They slit their throats. “When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks.” (Qur’an 47:4)

“Muslim Supervisors Kill Two Christian Women in Pakistan,” Morning Star News, January 10, 2021:

LAHORE, Pakistan (Morning Star News) – Police in Lahore, Pakistan on Monday (Jan. 4) recovered the bodies of two Christian sisters whose Muslim supervisors pressured them to convert to Islam before killing them, sources said.

Mushtaq Masih said that police informed him on Jan. 4 that officers had found the decomposed bodies of his 28-year-old wife, Sajida Mushtaq, and her sister, Abida Qaiser, bound and bundled into sacks in an area drainage ditch. Sajida Mushtaq, a mother of four, and Qaiser had been missing since Nov. 26.

“My wife often complained of harassment by her supervisors, but she used to tell me that she was handling the situation well,” Masih told Morning Star News. “After she went missing, one of my relatives shared with us that Sajida had confided in her that her supervisors, Muhammad Mumtaz and Naeem Butt, used to pressure her and Abida to convert to Islam and marry them.”

A Catholic sanitation worker at a local business center, Masih said that his wife and sister-in-law had begun working at a pharmaceutical factory more than two years ago. The sisters had gone shopping the evening of Nov. 26, and when they did not return home, Masih and other relatives registered a First Information Report at the Kahna Nau police station after searching for them, he said.

The investigating officer of the case, Iftikhar Hussain, said that officers took Mumtaz and Butt into custody after relatives of the sisters informed them that Mumtaz used to pressure the two women to marry him, and that the two suspects had confessed to killing them.

“During interrogation, Naeem confessed that they had abducted the sisters, and after keeping them hostage for a few days for satisfying their lust, had slit their throats and thrown their bodies into the drain,” Hussain told Morning Star News.

Masih said that his family was shattered when police informed them about the recovery of the bodies, whose hands and feet were bound.

“I have three sons and a daughter – the eldest 11 years old, and the youngest 5 – while Abida has only one daughter, aged 9,” Masih told Morning Star News. “You can imagine the emotional and mental trauma our children and all other family members have been suffering since Sajida and Abida had gone missing. When police informed us that they had identified the two bodies as those of our loved ones, it seemed that our entire world had come crumbling down.”…

Pakistan ranked fifth on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2020 World Watch list of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian, and on Nov. 28, 2018, the United States added Pakistan to its blacklist of countries that violate religious freedom.

Johns Hopkins University: Anti-Semitic Muslim teaching assistant accused of lowering Jewish students’ grades

Anayah “said she has been the victim of hate crimes, threats and fixing since the allegations became public.”

Claiming victim status is a well-established response of Islamic supremacists whenever they are caught doing anything untoward. No one should threaten this person, or even insult her, or harm her in any way. And she shouldn’t be anywhere near a teaching position of any kind.

“Johns Hopkins teaching assistant suspected of lowering Jewish students’ grades,” by Stewart Ain, Forward, January 7, 2021:

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has launched a probe into allegations against a university teaching assistant for “alleged anti-Semitism and potential abuse of authority in the discharge of academic responsibilities on our campus.”

The campus Hillel is calling upon students to contact its office if they suspect the teaching assistant lowered their grade as an act of antisemitism.

Published reports have identified the teaching assistant as Rasha Anayah, who is also a graduate student in the chemistry department at Johns Hopkins. It is alleged that in a tweet she posted Nov. 15, she wrote, “ethical dilemma: if you have to grade a zionist students exam, do you still give them all their points even though they support your ethnic cleansing? Like idk.” When 77% of the respondents replied, “Free Palestine! Fail them,” she wrote, “like I agree but also too many of you want me to get fired.”

Howard Libit, executive director of the Baltimore Jewish Council, said to his knowledge none of Anayah’s students have complained about their grades as yet. The fact that Hillel waited until Jan. 6 to ask students if they believed their grade was unfair suggests that grades are only now being sent.

In an email to the Forward, Anaya [sic] said she has been the victim of hate crimes, threats and fixing since the allegations became public.

“In regards to my teaching and evaluation of students,” she wrote, “I have always acted with the utmost integrity and fairness. I am a dedicated teacher and scholar with a commitment to social justice and to my role. My record as a teaching assistant is a testament to these facts.”

Anayah’s Facebook page has either been deleted or restricted to a limited number of people….

Minneapolis Protesters Raise Somali Flag

REP. ILHAN OMAR OF SOMALIA:

On December 30, a 23-year-old man named Dolal Idd, who was wanted on felony charges, fired on Minneapolis police officers, who returned fire and killed him. Despite the fact that what happened is clear and there is no actual question of excessive force by the police, hundreds of people protested Sunday, claiming that Idd had been treated unjustly. In the course of the protests, some of the participants replaced an American flag that was flying over a South Minneapolis gas station with a Somali flag. It was a telling indication of what mass immigration without assimilation has already done to this country, and what it is likely to do in the future.

Joe Biden is set to reopen the mass migration floodgates, and so it is virtually certain that before too long, numerous Somalis will enter the United States and further increase the Somali population in Minneapolis and elsewhere. Will any attempt whatsoever be made to ensure that the people entering the United States will become loyal citizens, or at very least loyal residents, and that they will accept American values including? Will any attempt whatsoever be made to ensure that none of those immigrants who are coming in are Islamic jihadis?

Those who took down the American flag and raised the Somali flag in Minneapolis may not be jihadis, but they certainly don’t seem to be interested in expressing any gratitude to the country that welcomed them, or in maintaining any loyalty to it. Meanwhile, other migrants from Somalia have indeed been jihadis: a Somali Muslim migrant named Mohammad Barry in February 2016 stabbed multiple patrons at a restaurant owned by an Israeli Arab Christian; Dahir Adan, another Somali Muslim migrant, in October 2016 stabbed mall shoppers in St. Cloud, Minnesota (not too far from where the protesters raised the Somali flag) while screaming “Allahu akbar”; and Abdul Razak Artan, yet another Somali Muslim migrant, in November 2016 injured nine people with car and knife attacks at Ohio State University.

What’s more, Fox News reported in February 2019 that “more men and boys from a Somali American community in Minneapolis have joined – or attempted to join – a foreign terrorist organization over the last 12 years than any other jurisdiction in the country. FBI stats show 45 Somalis left to join the ranks of either the Somalia-based Islamic insurgency al-Shabab, or the Iraq- and Syria-based ISIS combined. And as of 2018, a dozen more had been arrested with the intention of leaving to support ISIS. Both numbers are far higher than those of alleged terrorist wannabes who left or attempted to leave the country from other areas in the country where Muslim refugees have been resettled.”

Hassan Sheikh Ali, a lecturer on international relations at Somali National University, hailed Biden’s vow to repeal Trump’s travel bans on entry from jihadi hotspots. “Many Somali families,” he explained, “who were in the process of uniting with their relatives in America have been affected. Their life has been put on hold by that decision. There are many Somalis in Somalia and America who want to see Trump out of office because of that.”

That tugs at the heartstrings, but forgotten amid the lovefest is the president’s responsibility to protect the citizens of the United States and America as a free society. Nothing is more certain than the fact that Joe Biden will do nothing whatsoever to ensure that those coming in from Somalia won’t put their loyalty to Somalia over their loyalty to the United States, like the protesters who raised the Somali flag in South Minneapolis. Just as absolutely certain is the fact that no efforts whatsoever will be made to ensure that none of the Somalis entering will be jihadis. Instead, any and all such concerns will be brushed aside as “racism,” and the doors will be flung open wide.

A modest proposal: all “lawmakers” who henceforth support measures allowing for unrestricted, unvetted mass immigration should be held legally liable for any crimes committed by those who enter as a result. But of course there is no chance of such a proposal being adopted: now more than ever, those who rule over us will be insulated from the consequences of their actions, and the American people will have no recourse.

IRANIAN ISLAMIC JIHAD TERRORISM: Emboldened by prospect of Biden administration, Iran seizes tanker, ramps up uranium enrichment

Iran has upped its game in eager anticipation of a Biden Administration and its stated intention to reinstate the Iran nuclear deal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu two years ago warned the UN of Iran’s breaches of the deal. He offered proof that the deal was based on lies, and that Iran was, contrary to its denials, working toward developing nuclear weapons.

Now, the EU has warned that Iran’s move to enrich uranium to 20 percent would be a “considerable departure” from Tehran’s commitments under the deal, and would have “serious nuclear non-proliferation implications.”

Iran’s “considerable departure” from commitments is intentional; the EU should know this. Iran has no respect or interest in fair engagement with the EU, or any infidel entity, for that matter. Iran’s chief priority is to gain hegemony over the Islamic world and expand its regime into a new Persian (Islamic) empire. The EU continues to be duped by Iran, and a Biden administration will serve to enable Iran, allowing it to continue where the Obama administration left off.

“Iran seizes tanker, ramps up uranium enrichment in fresh escalation with West,” by Ali Arouzi and Saphora Smith, NBC, January 4, 2021:

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran has resumed enriching uranium up to 20 percent in the country’s biggest breach yet of its landmark nuclear deal with world powers, a government spokesperson told state-run Mehr News on Monday.

Also Monday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard seized a South Korean-flagged ship carrying thousands of tons of ethanol in the Persian Gulf, according to the state-linked news agencies IRIB and FARS News.

Raising enrichment puts Iran a technical step away from enriching at 90 percent, the level needed to produce a nuclear warhead. Before the announcement, Iran was enriching uranium at around 4.5 percent, in violation of the nuclear pact but at a significantly lower level.

Tensions between the United States and Iran have been simmering in the last days of President Donald Trump’s administration. Trump unilaterally withdrew the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, setting off a series of escalating incidents that culminated in the killing of a top Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, in Iraq on Jan. 3, 2020. Thousands of people took to the streets in Iraq to protest his death Sunday.

Iranian officials said the uranium is being enriched at the Fordo nuclear facility, which is hidden deep inside a mountain near the holy city of Qom. Under the terms of the nuclear deal, Tehran is allowed to enrich uranium at only around 3.5 percent, and no enrichment is allowed at the Fordo plant.

The deal stipulates that in exchange for agreeing to limit its uranium enrichment, world powers would grant Iran sanctions relief.

Since the U.S. pulled out of the pact in May 2018 and reimposed crippling sanctions, Tehran has steadily breached its commitments, prompting alarm among the five other parties to the deal: France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia and China…..

Iran goes to Interpol for arrest of Donald Trump and 47 others for killing Qasem Soleimani

Iran’s grieving and rage over Soleimani’s killing does not stop at its Interpol request. Iran’s judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi has also issued a warning that Qasem Soleimani’s killers will “not be safe on Earth.”

Soleimani was commander of Iran’s Quds force. His successor, Esmail Qaani, warned that “severe revenge awaits” and that it may come from anywhere.

According to a transcript from the Council on Foreign Relations, Soleimani was a critical religious Shia figure. Islamic apologist and Iran analyst Vali Nasr stated this about Soleimani’s significance to Iran:

So in many ways he became, if you would, the field commander for the Shia resistance to what they thought was a major Sunni push under the title of the Caliphate and ISIS to essentially take over Iraq, take over Syria, and destroy, if you would, Shia cultural religious monuments and heritage in the region.

Hamas has also hailed Soleimani, erecting billboards in Gaza and declaring:

The martyr commander Soleimani, who devoted his life to supporting the resistance, is a martyr of Jerusalem.

“Iran asks Interpol to help arrest Trump and 47 other US officials over 2020 killing of General Soleimani – judiciary spokesman,” RT, January 5, 2021:

Iran has requested that Interpol issue a ‘Red Notice’ for Donald Trump and 47 other officials, over their “role” in the assassination of Qassem Soleimani last January, said judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Esmaeili.

“The request to issue a ‘Red Notice’ for 48 people involved in the assassination of Martyr Soleimani, including the US President, as well as commanders and officials at the Pentagon, and forces in the region, was handed over to Interpol,” said Esmaeili at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is very seriously following up on pursuing and punishing those who ordered and executed this crime,” he added.

According to the International Criminal Police Organization, its ‘Red Notice’ is a “request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.” Interpol notes that it is not an arrest warrant.

Iranian Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi also spoke on the issue on Tuesday, saying that Iran had prepared 1,000 pages of documents to refer to the International Criminal Court to prove that state terrorism had been used against General Soleimani. He also pledged “tough revenge at the proper time.”

Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani, was killed in a US drone strike on January 3, 2020, while visiting Baghdad. Agnes Callamard, the United Nations’ special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, described the assassination as “unlawful” and a “nail in the coffin of international law,” when she took to Twitter on the anniversary of the assassination.

Iran already requested Interpol’s help in arresting Donald Trump and 35 other officials on “murder and terrorism charges” in June last year. However, Interpol rejected the request, citing its constitution as prohibiting it from undertaking “any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious, or racial character.”

Senior Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, have repeatedly pledged to avenge the assassination of General Soleimani….

“Chilling threat sent to air traffic controllers vowing revenge for killing of Iranian general is under investigation,” by Jeff Pegues, CBS News, January 6, 2021:

Multiple air traffic controllers in New York heard a chilling threat Monday in audio obtained exclusively by CBS News: “We are flying a plane into the Capitol on Wednesday. Soleimani will be avenged.”

The threat refers to Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian general killed last year in a U.S. drone strike ordered by President Trump. It was made on the one-year anniversary of Soleimani’s death, for which Iranian officials have long vowed revenge.

It’s unclear who sent the threat. While the government does not believe the warning of an attack is credible, it is being investigated as a breach of aviation frequencies, CBS News has learned.

Sources told CBS News that the Pentagon and other agencies were briefed Tuesday about the digitized voice recording. The sources said they believe the threat was designed to suggest hitting the Capitol on the same day Congress is set to count the Electoral College results….

Emboldened Iran’s parliament approves mandate ‘to destroy the usurping Zionist regime’

Biden will soon be president and the jihad can resume as before.

“Iran Parliament Votes on Official Mandate to Destroy Israel,” Foreign Policy, January 4, 2021 (thanks to Henry):

Iran’s parliament voted on a mandate to destroy the state of Israel Sunday, the anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s assassination.

The mandate aims “to destroy the usurping Zionist regime” and “[break] the siege of Gaza by sending basic goods from official naval bases to Gaza in exchange for money or free of charge.”

Upon passage of the mandate into law, the Iranian regime will be obligated to pursue the “Right of return of Palestinian refugees” and the “Liberation of the Golan Heights” by providing “welfare-economic-security and infrastructures.”

The mandate also designates the U.S. killing of Qassem Soleimani as a “terrorist act” that warrants the “execution of severe revenge by expelling the United States from the region and reciprocal measures to weaken the United States.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has previously referred to Israel as a “deadly, cancerous tumor in the region” that must be “uprooted and destroyed.”

Iran openly bolsters terrorist groups in Gaza including Hamas and Hezbollah by supplying millions of dollars annually in financial and military support.

In May 2020, Khamenei confirmed this weapons transfer.

“Iran realized Palestinian fighters’ only problem was lack of access to weapons. With divine guidance and assistance, we planned, and the balance of power has been transformed in Palestine, and today the Gaza Strip can stand against the aggression of the Zionist enemy and defeat it,” said Khamenei….

Iran’s Rouhani on Trump: ‘In a few days, the life of this criminal will end and he will go to the dustbin of history’

Imagine the outcry if Trump said that Rouhani’s life would end in a few days. Rouhani, the president of a country that sponsors jihad terror around the world, would be indignantly defended by the international media. But if Trump were killed, the same media would cheer and blame the victim, so there is no controversy over Rouhani’s remarks.

“Martyr Qasem Soleimani was a national hero, a brave, unique moderate leader with tact/ US President, Secretary of State among the main perpetrators of this crime, brutal assassination of Martyr Soleimani/ Zionists, Americans the only ones who enjoy chaos, war, insecurity in the region,” President.ir, December 30, 2020 – 11:57

Speaking in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Dr Hassan Rouhani said, “The martyrdom of Martyr Soleimani was revenge against the Islamic Republic of Iran, independence of regional countries and revenge against those great nations that stood against the conspiracies of the United States and Zionism and foiled that conspiracy”.

The president called the ISIL terrorist group a handful of Zionist and American mercenaries in the region and stressed, “They did not want the ISIL to end like this, they wanted ISIL to take over the region, and that is why when they were wounded, the Israelis would take them to their hospitals, healed them and re-equipped them”.

Dr Rouhani said that the only ones who benefit from chaos, war and insecurity in the region are first the Zionists and then the Americans, adding, “No one in the region would benefit from an insecure in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen or Afghanistan”.

The president added, “They wanted to take revenge on a great man who stood tactfully against their plots. Some people think that Martyr Soleimani was a unique, brave general, which is true, but it is not only courage, but also his wisdom is also important”.

Dr Rouhani pointed out, “I got acquainted with Martyr Soleimani in the war and since 1983 during the Holy Defence, and since 1997 and 1998, when he took on new responsibilities, we would meet each other almost every week. During my presidency, we had many meetings in various fields”.

“He was a man of prudence, he understood things perfectly, he was a man of analysis, he understood the politics of the region and the world, and he was literally moderate, neither right, nor left,” said the President.

The President emphasised, “No party or faction can consider Martyr Soleimani as its own, Martyr Soleimani is a national hero and an honour for the whole Iranian nation, for the nations of the region and for the revolutionary Muslims. Of course, they wanted to take the national hero from us, but I believe they made a mistake. This national hero of ours became an eternal hero, and forever in our history, Martyr Soleimani is one of our great historical heroes”.

The President said that the people of the whole region owe a lot to Martyr Soleimani and he has made great efforts to establish security and peace in the region, adding, “The cruel ISIL who were trained by the Arrogance and the Zionism wanted to disrupt peace and security of the region, and the United States, Zionism, and those whose interests were at stake in the region took revenge on Martyr Soleimani for thwarting their plots”.

Dr Rouhani said that the first response to the White House executioners was given by the Iraqi people at the glorious funerals of Martyr Soleimani and Martyr al-Muhandis, saying, “The funeral of these martyrs in different cities across Iran were historic days and a strong slap on the American criminals”.

The President called the Iraqi parliament’s decision on the need for American troops to leave the country an important step taken by members of the Iraqi parliament and said, “The enemy’s goal was to break the resistance in the region with the martyrdom of Martyr Soleimani, but it was the other way around and the spirit of resistance in the region boosted”.

Stating that Martyr Soleimani became eternal and today the path of resistance continues with the same enthusiasm until the complete withdrawal of the Americans from the region, Dr Rouhani said, “As I said after the martyrdom of Martyr Soleimani, I emphasise again that if you cut off Martyr Soleimani’s hand, we will cut off your leg from the region and we will continue the resistance until that day”.

The President added, “One of the effects of this stupid and disgraceful act was that Trumpism ended and in a few days, the life of this criminal will end and he will go to the dustbin of history, and we are very happy about this and we believe that the period after Trump will be a better condition for regional and global stability”….

Pentagon: AIRCRAFT CARRIER Nimitz Staying in Middle East After Threats to Trump, Officials

The Pentagon has ordered the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nimitz to stay in the Middle East because of threats from Tehran against President Donald Trump and other U.S. officials in an order three days after the warship was sent home in an effort to de-escalate tensions that had been growing with Iran.

Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller on Sunday ordered the ship's routine redeployment halted, issuing a short statement that said the ship will "remain on station in the U.S. Central Command area of operations. No one should doubt the resolve of the United States of America," reports The New York Times.

The ship had been ordered redeployed to its homeport in Bremerton, Wash., after its 10-month deployment.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani last week, in a speech to his Islamic nation's cabinet, declared Trump would be dead "in a few days" as the first anniversary of the death of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, approached. Suleimani was killed in a U.S.-ordered drone strike.

Intelligence agencies have assessed for months that Iran wants to target senior American military officers and civilian leaders to avenge Soleimani's death.

Trump administration officials suggested Sunday that with the week in politics looming that includes the Senate runoff race in Georgia Tuesday and the meeting of the House and Senate on Wednesday to certify President-elect Joe Biden's win, the optics of the Nimitz leaving the Middle East was not suitable for the White House, the Times reported.

Trump threatened Iran on Twitter just before Christmas, and top national security aides in November talked him out of launching a pre-emptive strike against a nuclear site in Iran.

In recent weeks, the Pentagon's Central Command has made several public shows of force to warn Iran about attacks on U.S. troops and diplomats, including using the Nimitz with other warships for air cover for troops pulling out of Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan.

The Air Force has also dispatched B-52 bombers to fly near Iran's coast and the Navy announced that it has ordered a submarine with cruise missiles, for the first time in 10 years, into the Persian Gulf.

Rather than Islamic supremacist Turkey getting booted out of NATO, it is taking over from Poland to lead NATO’s military Very High Readiness Joint Task Force for 2021.

The move is highly questionable, given Turkey’s overt ambition of rebuilding the Ottoman Empire, its constant bullying and threats of war with Greece, its alliance with Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood, and its interference in Libya to establish the Muslim Brotherhood there.

The NATO news comes at the same time as news of Turkey’s arms deal with Russia.

In mid-December, the Trump administration slapped sanctions on Turkey over its purchase of the Russian S-400 missile system. And now the Turkey-Russian pact has gone farther.

Merely a day before Turkey took charge of the VJTF, it was announced that “Turkey and Russia have pledged to go further on military cooperation despite US sanctions, in a move that risks destabilizing Nato.”

The reason that the VJTF was created makes the NATO news even more bizarre:

NATO heads of state and government decided to create the VJTF at the Wales Summit in 2014 in response to a changed security environment, including Russia’s destabilisation of Ukraine and turmoil in the Middle East.

In early December, Jihad Watch reported that Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, France and the UAE were conducting joint military exercises amid the rising Turkish threat.

“Turkey takes charge of NATO high readiness force, 01-Jan.-2021,” NATO, December 31, 2020:

The Turkish army will take the lead of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) on Friday (1 January 2021), placing thousands of soldiers on standby, ready to deploy within days.

Turkey takes over from Poland, which provided the core of the force in 2020. Built around Turkey’s 66th Mechanised Infantry Brigade of around 4,200 troops, a total of around 6,400 soldiers will serve on the VJTF. Units from Albania, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the UK, and the United States will also serve on the force, which is part of the Alliance’s larger NATO Response Force. Turkey has made substantial investments into the unit – amongst the most mobile in NATO – particularly in its logistics and ammunition requirements planning. The latest models of Turkish armed vehicles, anti-tank missiles and howitzers have been allocated to the force.

NATO heads of state and government decided to create the VJTF at the Wales Summit in 2014 in response to a changed security environment, including Russia’s destabilisation of Ukraine and turmoil in the Middle East. NATO members take turns heading the VJTF. Poland led the VJTF in 2020, Germany in 2019, and Italy had rotational control of the force….

Did Iran’s President Just Threaten to Kill Donald Trump?

Iran's President Just Said Trump's Life 'Will End' in 'a Few Days'

U.S. troops suspect that Iran may attempt to take revenge on President Donald Trump for the death of Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani on the anniversary of the airstrike that killed Soleimani. This week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a cryptic warning to Trump, gloating about Trump’s loss in the 2020 election and warning that the American president’s life “will end” in “a few days.”

In a speech during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Rouhani warned, “As I said after the martyrdom of Martyr Soleimani, I emphasize again that if you cut off Martyr Soleimani’s hand, we will cut off your leg from the region and we will continue the resistance until that day.”

“One of the effects of this stupid and disgraceful act was that Trumpism ended and in a few days, the life of this criminal will end and he will go to the dustbin of history, and we are very happy about this and we believe that the period after Trump will be a better condition for regional and global stability,” the Iranian president added, according to an Iranian government official English translation of the remarks.

While it is possible Rouhani meant that Trump’s political life will end, the official Iranian translation suggests the president was referring to Trump’s physical life.

Rouhani’s remarks came just as Iranian officials had pre-emptively blamed Trump for a confrontation that had yet to occur. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused President Donald Trump of attempting to fabricate a pretext to attack Iran before incoming President Joe Biden replaces him. Such an accusation seems rather suspicious.

“Instead of fighting Covid in US, [Trump] & cohorts waste billions to fly B52s & send armadas to OUR region. Intelligence from Iraq indicate plot to FABRICATE pretext for war,” Zarif claimed on Twitter Thursday.

The U.S. military did indeed fly two nuclear-capable B-52 bombers to the Middle East in a message of deterrence to Iran on Wednesday, but the bombers have since left the region, the Associated Press reported. The Pentagon announced on Thursday that the Nimitz aircraft carrier, which had been stationed off the coast of Somalia, would be heading toward its homeport on the U.S. West Coast.

A U.S. official told the AP that U.S. troops in Iraq are worried about what Iranian-backed militias might do in the lead-up to the anniversary of Soleimani’s assassination on January 3, 2020. Iran is planning events to mark the anniversary.

While Trump did blame Iran for rockets fired at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on the Sunday before Christmas, warning that the U.S. would strike back if Iran or its proxies killed any American troops, the removal of the B-52 bombers and the aircraft carrier suggests the U.S. does not have a plan to strike Iran, unless the Islamic Republic provides provocation.

Trump Sends Iran a Powerful Warning After Latest Strike on U.S. Embassy

Iran-backed militias besieged the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad late last year, sparking a series of events that culminated in the Soleimani assassination. Soleimani led Iran’s terrorism efforts in the Middle East and has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers. His death arguably cleared the way for Trump’s historic deals between Israel and Arab states like the United Arab Emirates.

After the strike, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vowed “severe revenge,” but the regime’s efforts have failed. Iran fired missiles at U.S. assets, but the country also shot down a Ukrainian plane, killing its 176 passengers (82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, 7 Afghans, and 3 British citizens), sparking protests in the streets of Tehran. Iran petitioned INTERPOL to demand an arrest warrant for Trump over Soleimani’s death, but INTERPOL refused. An Iranian issued an $80 million bounty on Trump’s head, to no avail as yet.

U.S. intelligence reports have suggested that Iran is planning to assassinate U.S. Ambassador to South Africa Lana Marks, and in September, a former general of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that the IRGC planned to assassinate Trump.

While Iran’s efforts have failed so far, the Islamic Republic may grow increasingly dangerous in its desperation. Before Soleimani’s death and the subsequent protests, Iran faced protests last November after the country reduced fuel subsidies by 50 percent and instituted rationing, in part due to pressure from the Trump administration after America withdrew from the Iran deal.

Then the coronavirus pandemic came, just before parliamentary elections. Satellite images from space showing mass graves appear to have confirmed the opposition’s claims that Tehran has vastly under-reported the death count from the coronavirus pandemic. Iran’s opposition party is also mobilizing. It hosted a virtual global summit in July.

Unfortunately, it seems Biden plans to return to Obama-style appeasement with Iran, risking Trump’s incredible progress in the Middle East.

If Iran wants to strike the U.S. in retaliation for Trump ordering Soleimani’s death, it had better strike soon — and pre-emptively blaming Trump seems like an attempt to lay down diplomatic cover for an attack. Rouhani’s cryptic warning only makes Zarif’s statements seem even more suspicious.

The Obama third term is about to start, so the money is likely once again to flow freely to those who wish to destroy America.

“US Taxpayer Money Went to Al-Qaeda Affiliate During Obama Administration: Senate Reports,” by Li Hai, Epoch Times, December 30, 2020:

At least $150,000 in U.S. taxpayer money went to an Islamic organization with ties to terrorism through a humanitarian organization from 2014 to 2015, a large amount of which was approved by the then-Obama administration despite being informed the Islamic organization was a sanctioned entity, a Senate report shows.

On Dec. 23, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released a report of an investigation conducted by his staff into the relationship between World Vision, a non-profit humanitarian organization, and the Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA), an organization that has funded terrorist activities.

World Vision is a non-profit organization founded in 1950 to provide humanitarian aid to impoverished peoples in vulnerable areas across the world.

ISRA is headquartered in Sudan and has been sanctioned by the United States since 2004 “after they had funneled approximately $5 million to Maktab Al-Khidamat, the predecessor to Al-Qaeda controlled by Osama Bin Laden,” the report stated.

According to a timeline of events from the report:

  • On Jan. 21, 2014, World Vision submitted a grant application to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide humanitarian services to some conflict-affected areas in Sudan. World Vision was subsequently awarded a grant of $723,405 to carry out the program.
  • On Feb. 1, 2014, World Vision entered into an agreement with the Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) whereby ISRA would provide humanitarian services to certain parts of the Blue Nile Region in Sudan on behalf of World Vision. Prior to this, World Vision had worked with ISRA on several projects from 2013 through 2014.
  • In late September 2014, World Vision’s legal department was notified of ISRA’s potential status as a sanctioned entity. World Vision then ceased all payments to ISRA and began investigating whether ISRA was indeed a sanctioned entity.
  • On Jan. 23, 2015, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) responded to World Vision’s inquiry that ISRA is indeed a sanctioned entity. OFAC denied World Vision’s request for a license to transact with ISRA in the same letter.
  • On Feb. 19, 2015, World Vision again requested a license to transact with ISRA in order to pay them $125,000 for services rendered. In its request, World Vision stressed that it could face severe legal consequences and even expulsion from Sudan if it did not pay ISRA the monies owed.
  • On May 4, 2015, the Obama Administration’s State Department recommended OFAC grant World Vision’s request for a license to pay ISRA $125,000 in monies owed. The following day, OFAC granted World Vision a specific license to pay ISRA $125,000 only for services rendered.

The report shows $125,000 was paid on May 7, 2015, from which $111,982 was from a United States Government (USG) grant and $9,062 was from Irish government aid….

BBC: ‘Seeing Jesus as a darker skinned Palestinian is both historically accurate and theologically important’

THE POLITICALLY CORRECT "PALESTINIAN" BLACK JESUS?:

BY CHRISTINE DOUGLASS-WILLIAMS

SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2020/12/bbc-seeing-jesus-as-a-darker-skinned-palestinian-is-both-historically-accurate-and-theologically-important;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Presenting Jesus as a “Palestinian” has become a political weapon. This is why it is actually important that Jesus be presented as a “Palestinian,” particularly a “black Palestinian.” In this presentation, both Black Lives Matter (Marxist) and the Palestinian jihad are promoted as woke and therefore good. Beckford says this is particularly important “in this year of protest and change.”

The “Palestinian resistance,” presented to the world as peaceful, which it is not, should be recognized for what it is: an active jihadist war against Israel to obliterate it “from the River to the Sea.” There is no reason whatsoever that it should be associated with Jesus.

Jesus was of Middle-Eastern Jewish heritage. He was from the house of David and arrived in Bethlehem long before the 1995 Oslo Accords, when Bethlehem was assigned to the Palestinian Authority. This should be obvious. The Palestinians are historically Ottoman South Syrians, with no historical claim to the Holy Land.

In exploring some of the roots of how and where it became popularized to claim Jesus as a Palestinian, the Israeli monitoring agency Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) focused upon a Palestinian Authority TV interview in 2010, in which author Samih Ghanadreh from Nazareth was asked about his new book Christianity and its Connection to Islam. Ghanadeh states that he personally heard Yasser Arafat several times affirm that Jesus was the first Palestinian martyr, whereupon the host replies: “Jesus was a Palestinian, no one denies that.” PMW cited the regularity of this declaration by prominent Palestinians, including the Governor of Ramallah Leila Ghannam (“We all have the right to be proud that Jesus is a Palestinian”), Senior PA leader Jibril Rajoub (“The greatest Palestinian in history since Jesus is Yasser Arafat“), and an editorial in the PA official daily — Al-Hayat Al-Jadida — referred to the “holy Trinity” as being Arafat, Abbas and Jesus.

Abbas did his PhD in Holocaust denial, and Rahman Abdul Rauf al-Qudwa al-Husseini (a.k.a. Yasser Arafat) learned under the tutelage of his revered uncle, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini, who worked with Hitler and Adolf Eichmann to slaughter six million Jews.

Palestinian propaganda has become rooted in the modern-day Church via many outreach programs, which has unfortunately lead to a new antisemitism, tailored especially for evangelicals. Bible researcher and author Jim Fletcher wrote:

Even LifeWay bookstores, the chain owned and operated by the Southern Baptist Convention, stock Sunday school maps depicting “Palestine in the Time of Jesus.” Never mind that neither Jesus nor the apostles knew anything of “Palestine,” but the regional name has compelled too many evangelicals (like Philip Yancey) to label Jesus a “Palestinian rabbi,” or the “Palestinian Jesus.” This false historical label was popularized by none other than Yasser Arafat, yet evangelical leaders are good with it.

Ed Stetzer, president of research at LifeWay — the resource arm of the Southern Baptist Convention — referred to Jesus as a “Palestinian Jew” in his article published in Christianity Today entitled“Monday is for Missiology: Some Thoughts on Contextualization.”

Robert O. Smith, program director for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America/Middle East and North Africa and co-moderator of the Palestine-Israel Ecumenical Forum of the World Council of Churches, blames the Israeli “occupation” on the dwindling number of Christians in the Bethlehem regions. Smith’s agenda is anti-Zionism, and thus he helps to advance the false narratives about Israel and about the Palestinians which some evangelical leaders have fallen into, in sync with the late Arafat and the PLO.

Jesus is presented not only as a Palestinian, but an oppressed Palestinian. In an obscene Easter message presented by Bethlehem Anglican Canon Rev. Naim Ateek, president of the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center, Ateek stated:

In this season of Lent, it seems to many of us that Jesus is on the cross again with thousands of crucified Palestinians around him. It only takes people of insight to see the hundreds of thousands of crosses throughout the land, Palestinian men, women, and children being crucified. Palestine has become one huge golgotha. The Israeli government crucifixion system is operating daily. Palestine has become the place of the skull.

Read more about this type of propaganda HERE.

“BBC WS radio promotes the claim that Jesus was ‘Palestinian,’” by Hadar Sela, CAMERA UK, December 23, 2020:

On December 18th the BBC World Service radio programme ‘Heart and Soul’ aired a 27-minute programme (since repeated several times) titled ‘Black Jesus’.

“The identity and colour of Jesus – and why it matters – has taken on a new significance in this year of protest and change. Seeing Jesus as a darker skinned Palestinian rather than blonde European is both historically accurate and theologically important, but it’s not a new idea.” [emphasis added]

The notion of Jesus as ‘Palestinian’ is repeated during the programme itself by its presenter Robert Beckford.

01:16: “Despite the fact it’s more realistic as a first-century Palestinian Jew that Jesus was dark skinned, somehow the white Jesus has become the most popular and accepted image.”

25:37: “The colour of Jesus matters, both literally and symbolically. A first-century Palestinian Jew had colour…”

Beckford is of course by no means the first to promote the notion of Jesus as a Palestinian, be that for political ends or as a result of lack of knowledge.

As CAMERA observed in 2008 when the New York Times claimed that Jesus ‘spoke in Palestine’:

“Bernard Lewis has noted that the word “Palestine” was sometimes used by Greek and Latin authors prior to 135 CE, though that appears to have normally been used as an adjective in apposition to “Syria” (Palaistine Syria or Syria Palestina) and in reference to the coastal area formerly inhabited by the Philistines but not “Judaea,” a region that “in Roman times was still officially and commonly known by that name,” as Lewis explained, or the region around Nazareth (“Palestine: On the History and Geography of a Name,” The International History Review, January 1, 1980).”

Earlier this year when the same paper referred to “first-century Palestine” CAMERA noted that:

“…during the time of Jesus, Bethlehem and Jerusalem were in what was commonly called Judea and Nazareth was in what was commonly called the Galilee. The land where Jesus lived did not take on the name Palestine until the second century, well after his death. Thus, the notion of “first-century Palestine,” […] is totally fictional…

In 132 (Common Era or AD), approximately 100 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, the Jews fought against Roman rule for a second time in what is known as the Bar Kochba Revolt. After the Romans defeated the rebellious Jews in 135, they renamed the land of the Jews Palestina to punish the Jews and to make an example of them to other peoples considering rebellion. The Romans took away the Jewish name, Judea, and replaced it with the name of an ancient enemy the Jews despised. The Philistines were an extinct Aegean people whom the Jews had historically loathed as uncultured and barbaric.”

One must assume that it is not a lack of knowledge which prompted “one of the UK’s prominent black theologians” – as Beckford is described in the programme’s synopsis – to repeatedly promote the anachronistic notion that Jesus was “a first-century Palestinian Jew”. In fact, Beckford’s political/theological agenda is abundantly clear throughout the programme, which begins by describing Jesus as “a leading figure in the fight against racism and discrimination” and goes on (apparently missing out the word ‘to’) to claim that:

“…in reality Jesus was a refugee whose family had to flee North Africa due to persecution. He was one of the oppressed by the colonisers of his day.”…

Turkey: Last of the Byzantine Greeks facing extinction under Islamic hardliner Erdogan

“The Greeks who represent the last vestiges of Christian Byzantium and the Roman Empire are heading towards their final extinction in Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey, with their numbers dwindling to a mere handful” under his Islamic hardline government.

Erdogan has made his ambitions clear: he wants a revived Ottoman Empire, and his actions have shown its determination. Yet still, talking about Islam remains an uncomfortable subject, as “neither the interviewees, perhaps understandably, or their interviewer, perhaps less understandably, touched to any great extent on the reasons so many Greeks have fled their ancestral homeland in recent years.”

The scourge of Turkey’s oppression against disbelievers is not felt only by its own Christian population, but increasingly regionally. Turkey is a growing threat to its rival Iran. America under Trump has observed the growing strength of Turkey’s commitment to Islam and the increasing threat it presents, and Trump therefore imposed sanctions. By contrast, the UK has just signed a multi-billion dollar trade deal that will serve to strengthen Turkey.

Meanwhile, the Western world promotes “diversity” at any cost, along with the “Islamophobia” subterfuge, and remains willfully blind as to the violent and expansionary foundations of Islam that have been clear for 1400 years.

“Last Byzantine Greeks Facing Extinction in Islamist-Led Turkey,” by Jack Montgomery, Breitbart, December 27, 2020:

The Greeks who represent the last vestiges of Christian Byzantium and the Roman Empire are heading towards their final extinction in Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey, with their numbers dwindling to a mere handful under his Islamist government.

What is now Turkey only began to be colonised in by the Turkic peoples in earnest from around 1071, after their Seljuk ancestors had arrived from Central Asia and vanquished the Greek-speaking Christian ruler Romanos IV Diogenes’s forces at the Battle of Manzikert.

The last vestiges of the Byzantine state where finally snuffed out with the brutal conquest of Constantinople, widely regarded as the greatest Christian city in the world, in 1453, or arguably with the fall of the citadel of Salmeniko Castle in modern-day Greece in 1461, following a brave but doomed resistance by its commander, Konstantinos Graitzas Palaiologos.

Despite widespread massacres and enslavement during the Turkish conquests, however, the region’s Greeks survived and were allowed something of a cultural life, albeit as second-class citizens, for centuries — not least because they served as cash cows for their Muslim rulers through the imposition of the jizya tax.

But Greeks in Istanbul, as Constantinople is now called, have now tumbled from 200,000 as recently as 1914 to, officially, a mere 3,000 — and a Times correspondent who visited the city to interview some of the survivors, known as the Rum, reports that the true figure may be nearer to just one thousand.

The Times correspondents’ interview subjects did not describe a life as hard as that endured by some of their forebears, such as in 1821, when many of the city’s Greeks were massacred and the Patriarch of Constantinople hanged from the gate of his cathedral, or in 1955, when the security services organised violent pogroms against them in what POLITICO dubbed a “Turkish Kristallnacht”.

“Everyone is gone now,” said Lazari Kozmaoglu, the 75-year-old owner of a rare pork butcher’s shop….

Neither the interviewees, perhaps understandably, or their interviewer, perhaps less understandably, touched to any great extent on the reasons so many Greeks have fled their ancestral homeland in recent years — and, indeed, decades — but the mood against such minorities in the once strongly secular but now Islamist-led republic is souring.

The authorities have made it increasingly difficult for Orthodox Christians to receive a religious education for example, and some historic churches and monasteries have been demolished or repurposed as mosques, sometimes with little warning….

Iran’s Rouhani: ‘Trump’s fate will be no better than Saddam’s fate,’ as Saddam ended up ‘hanging from the gallows’

Iran has become confident and emboldened. The jihadist regime of Iran is salivating at the thought of a Biden administration, during which it is confident that it will have free rein to expand its global adventurism. In its view, America will now “bow” and sanctions against it will end, as the disastrous nuclear deal is reinstated. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has now put President Trump and former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in the same bracket:

“By the grace of God, we won, and the day came when we saw that crazy man hanging from the gallows. On that day, the people saw their final victory [manifest]. And Trump’s fate will be no better than Saddam’s fate.”

“We won” is also how a Biden victory is seen in Iran.

“Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: Trump’s Fate Will Be No Better Than That Of Saddam, Who Ended Up Hanging From The Gallows,” MEMRI, December 23, 2020:

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a December 23, 2020 cabinet meeting that was broadcasted on IRINN TV (Iran) that Saddam Hussein and President Trump are two crazy individuals who have imposed war upon the Iranian people. He predicted that President Trump’s fate will be no better than Saddam’s fate.

Hassan Rouhani: “The truth is that in our history, there were two crazy individuals who waged war against our nation. The first crazy person was Saddam [Hussein], who waged war against us. The second crazy person is Trump, who has waged a different war against us. [Saddam] waged a military war against us, and [Trump] an economic war. We won the military war. We stood hand-in-hand and side-by-side. We were pure of heart and united — one voice. By the grace of God, we won, and the day came when we saw that crazy man hanging from the gallows. On that day, the people saw their final victory [manifest]. And Trump’s fate will be no better than Saddam’s fate.”

UK: Johnson government signs a multi-billion-dollar trade deal with Turkey amid Trump sanctions

Britain and Turkey are set to sign a multi-billion-dollar free trade deal this week, despite Trump’s sanctioning of Turkey due to its threats in the region and worldwide.

British trade minister Liz Truss boasted:

“We now look forward to working with Turkey towards an ambitious tailor-made UK-Turkey trade agreement in the near future.”

All this as the Trump administration has cracked down on Turkey. According to the Jerusalem Post:

Those around Trump realized Ankara is hosting Hamas terrorists, having pleasant meetings with Iranian officials and working with Russia against US interests. This has come to a head in the fall and winter as the State Department finally condemned Turkey for giving a red carpet to Hamas terrorists and US sanctions have kicked in after Turkey acquired Russia’s S-400.

In early December, to cushion American sanctions, the Venezuelan regime under Nicolas Maduro urged Venezuelan firms to sign trade deals with both Turkey and Iran.

The Turkish government has also been using US mosques to spread “Islamist-nationalistic fervor,” similar to what Saudi Arabia and Iran have been doing to export their supremacist, jihadist ideologies. David L. Phillips, Director for the Program on Peace-building and Rights at Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights, stated:  “These mosques are not places of worship….They are centers for political mobilization functioning like madrasas, distorting Islamic [sic] and radicalizing youth.”

“Britain says it will sign free trade deal with Turkey this week,” Reuters, December 27, 2020:

(Reuters) – Britain and Turkey are set to sign a free trade deal on Tuesday, the UK trade ministry said on Sunday, the first since Prime Minister Boris Johnson secured a new trade agreement with the European Union.

The two nations will sign a deal that replicates the existing trading terms between Ankara and London, but British trade minister Liz Truss said that she was hopeful a bespoke deal between the countries could be struck soon.

“The deal we expect to sign this week locks in tariff-free trading arrangements and will help support our trading relationship. It will provide certainty for thousands of jobs across the UK in the manufacturing, automotive and steel industries,” Truss said in a statement.

“We now look forward to working with Turkey towards an ambitious tailor-made UK-Turkey trade agreement in the near future.”….

Iranian news agency: ‘Muslims love Jesus, too’

BY ROBERT SPENCER

SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2020/12/iranian-news-agency-muslims-love-jesus-too;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Ahlul Bayt News Agency paints a pretty picture of Islam’s love for Jesus. Here are a few items it left out:

Jesus is not the Son of God, belief in the Trinity is “excess”: “O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, ‘Three’; desist — it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” — Qur’an 4:171

“It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” — Qur’an 19:35

Jesus was not crucified: “And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger — they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.” — Qur’an 4:157

Those who believe in the divinity of Christ are “disbelievers”: “They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary.” — Qur’an 5:17

Christians “forgot a good part” of the divine revelations they received: “From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the day of judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done.” — Qur’an 5:14

Muslims should not take Jews or Christians as friends: “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.” — Qur’an 5:51

Those who believe that Jesus is God’s Son are accursed: “The Jews call Ezra a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! ” — Qur’an 9:30

Christians who do not become Muslims “are the most vile of created beings”: “Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence. And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion. Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the most vile of created beings.” — Qur’an 98:6

Jesus’ mission was to proclaim the coming of Muhammad: “And when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, ‘O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.’ But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, ‘This is obvious magic.’” — Qur’an 61:6

Muslims must fight against and subjugate Christians: “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” — Qur’an 9:29

“Muslims love Jesus, too; 6 Things you didn’t know about Prophet Jesus in Islam,” Ahlul Bayt News Agency, December 27, 2020:

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Christmas, as everyone knows, commemorates the birth of Jesus and is a major religious celebration for Christians around the world.

But what many people don’t know is that Jesus is an important figure in Islam, too, even though most Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas (though some, especially some American, do).

In honor of the holiday, here are six things you may not know about the role of Jesus — and his mother, Mary — in Islam:

Jesus, Mary, and the angel Gabriel are all in the Quran (as are Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and a bunch of other Bible characters).

Muslims believe that Jesus (called “Isa” in Arabic) was a prophet of God, was born to a virgin (Mary), and will return to Earth before the Day of Judgment to restore justice and to defeat al-Masih ad-Dajjal (“the false messiah”), also known as the Antichrist. All of which may sound pretty familiar to many Christians.

Mary (called “Maryam” in Arabic) has an entire chapter in the Quran named for her — the only chapter in the Quran named for a female figure. In fact, Mary is the only woman to be mentioned by name in the entire Quran: As noted in the Study Quran, “other female figures are identified only by their relation to others, such as the wife of Adam and the mother of Moses, or by their title, such as the Queen of Sheba.” Mary is mentioned more times in the Quran than in the entire New Testament.

Just as with all the other prophets, including Mohammed, Muslims recite, “Peace be upon him” every time they refer to Jesus.

Muslims believe that Jesus performed miracles: The Quran discusses several of Jesus’s miracles, including giving sight to the blind, healing lepers, raising the dead, and breathing life into clay birds.

The story of Jesus’s birth as told in the Quran is also the story of his first miracle, when he spoke as an infant in the cradle and declared himself to be a prophet of God….

150 House Democrats back Biden’s ‘unconditional’ return to Iran nuclear deal

The Obama/Biden Iranian nuclear deal was a disaster. All it did was delay Iran’s nuclear program, and even provided for Iran to inspect its own sites under certain circumstances. The Iranian mullahs were screaming “Death to America” even as the nuclear deal was being concluded. The mullahs have been pushing for war with the United States for decades, and the nuclear deal was no departure from this imperative. Get the details about just how bad the nuke deal was in The Complete Infidel’s Guide to Iran.

And Biden’s presidency, or rather the presidency of the oligarchy that is propping us up, would return us to that deal. Remember that old joke, the one with the punchline, “Coffee break’s over, back on your heads“? That’s what a Biden presidency would be like after four years of Trump.

“Democrats Back Biden’s ‘Unconditional’ Return to Iran Nuclear Deal,” Asharq Al-Awsat, December 25, 2020:

A letter backing President-elect Joe Biden’s plan to return to the Iran nuclear deal without any new conditions has garnered 150 signatures from House Democrats.

“We strongly endorse your call for Iran to return to strict compliance with the nuclear deal, the United States to rejoin the agreement, and subsequent follow-on negotiations” says the letter, which concluded its signature-gathering phase on Wednesday and is set to be sent to Biden.

According to them, the diplomatic path endorsed by Biden to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is the most effective. They added that the nuclear deal provides the required framework to achieve this goal.

Further, they suggested lifting some of the sanctions imposed on Iran….

Hamas-Linked CAIR Demands Biden Dismantle Counterterror Operations

The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) worked hard to get His Fraudulency President-select Joe Biden into the White House, and now it’s time for payback. On Tuesday, the sinister organization that the establishment media routinely presents as a benign human rights group released what it called “a detailed agenda detailing policy changes that the Biden-Harris administration should pursue within its first 100 days in office to restore the rights of Americans Muslims and advance justice for all.” “Restore the rights of American Muslims”? What rights have they been denied? If you said “none,” you’re correct, but CAIR’s wishlist emanates from the bizarro world of the group’s relentless efforts to secure coveted victimhood status for Muslims in the U.S.

The report is impressively detailed, identifying “33 new initiatives and policy reforms designed to protect and respect the rights of all U.S. citizens and residents, including Muslims, that the new administration can start to implement the first day in office.”

This is so much eyewash, as there is nothing among these 33 demands that is designed to protect and respect the rights of anyone but Muslims, but this sort of thing plays well with the media, and so it’s always worth throwing in. For example, one of the demands is “Support the free speech of all Americans and the right to boycott without government interference.” Another demands an “end the U.S. Department of Education’s attempts to suppress free speech on college campuses, including attempts to target Middle Eastern studies courses and punishing Palestinian student activists.”

These are not calls for the support of the freedom of speech as such. CAIR’s support for the freedom of speech here is stated only in connection to protesting Israel. When it comes to criticism of Islam, CAIR’s commitment to the freedom of speech suddenly weakens. It also demands the removal of “alt-right and Islamophobic online resources” from “existing vetting practices,” which is essentially a call for the removal of material that speaks honestly about the motivating ideology behind jihad terrorism. All such material was removed years ago, so it’s unclear what CAIR spokesman Ibrahim “Honest Ibe” Hooper is in a lather about here. But free speech? Not really high on CAIR’s agenda at all.

“CAIR’s agenda,” CAIR notes proudly, “is being endorsed by the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, the largest coalition of several leading national, regional, and local Muslim organizations and institutions harnessing the collective strength of American Muslims for the greater good of all.” That makes it all the more disquieting that the list of demands includes these:

1. Fundamentally reform the federal government’s unconstitutional Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB), commonly referred to as the “terrorism watchlist.”
2. Dismantle the TSA’s secretive Quiet Skies passenger tracking program, its international counterpart Silent Partner and other rules-based lists, that operate without Congressional oversight to single out law-abiding Muslim travelers for official harassment and extrajudicial consequences without due process.
3. Oppose and defund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (“DHS”) 2020 “Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention” (“TVTP”) grant program, the successor of DHS’s previous Countering Violent Extremism (“CVE”) grant program.
4. End the FBI’s use of informants to spy on American Muslim communities.
5. Reject any new domestic terrorism statutes.

Consider all these demands in light of the fact that CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman, Omar Ahmad, as well as Hooper, have made Islamic supremacist statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.)

Even worse, CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. CAIR’s Hussam Ayloush in 2017 called for the overthrow of the U.S. government. CAIR’s national outreach manager is an open supporter of Hamas.

This list of demands also features some of CAIR’s usual victimhood mongering: “Ensure American Muslims and other minorities, like all other Americans, have equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine and federal and state aid available to those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.” Of course, there is no need for such a demand, as no one anywhere is contemplating denying Muslims or anyone else equal access to the vaccine.

The next demand makes the remedy for this alleged discrimination clear: “provide more funding to American Muslim clinics.” Ah yes, no problem is so big that a little cash won’t solve it.

Trump Warns Iran After Missiles Strike U.S. Embassy

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump tweeted a picture of rockets fired at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday. He blamed Iran for the strike and issued a powerful warning should the Islamic Republic attack again.

“Our embassy in Baghdad got hit Sunday by several rockets. Three rockets failed to launch. Guess where they were from: IRAN,” he tweeted. “Now we hear chatter of additional attacks against Americans in Iraq.”

“Some friendly health advice to Iran: If one American is killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over,” the president concluded.

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad reported the attack on Sunday.

“The U.S. Embassy confirms rockets targeting the International Zone resulted in the engagement of Embassy defensive systems. There was some minor damage on the Embassy compound but no injuries or casualties,” the embassy announced on Twitter. “These sorts of attacks on diplomatic facilities are a violation of international law and are a direct assault on the sovereignty of the Iraqi government.”

The embassy called on Iraqi officials to prevent further attacks and to “hold accountable those responsible” for them.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, insisted Iran was not responsible for the attack and blamed the U.S. for escalating tensions.

“We strongly refute Secretary [Mike] Pompeo’s irresponsible anti-Iran accusations, which blatantly aim to create tension,” Khatibzadeh tweeted. “Iran rejects any attack on diplomatic missions. The U.S. military presence is the source of instability in our region. No amount of spin can divert blame for its evils.”

Iran-backed militias besieged the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad late last year, sparking a series of events that culminated in the assassination of Quds Force General Qasem Soleimani, who led Iran’s terrorism efforts in the Middle East and has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers.

Before Soleimani’s death and the recent protests, Iran faced protests last November after the country reduced fuel subsidies by 50 percent and instituted rationing, in part due to pressure from the Trump administration after America withdrew from the Iran deal.

Then the coronavirus pandemic came, just before parliamentary elections. Tehran appears to have suppressed information about the coronavirus in order to avoid a low turnout in the elections. Voting fell to the lowest level since 1979, and Khamenei accused the country’s enemies of exaggerating the threat of the coronavirus right before the election.

The outbreak appears to have begun in Qom, the mullahs’ spiritual center. Satellite images from space showing mass graves appear to have confirmed the opposition’s claims that Tehran has vastly under-reported the death count from the coronavirus pandemic. Iran’s opposition party is also mobilizing. It hosted a virtual global summit in July.

There are also heartening signs that Soleimani’s death has paved a new future for the Middle East after Trump’s historic deals between Israel and Arab states like the United Arab Emirates.

Unfortunately, incoming President Joe Biden seems intent on restoring the Iran nuclear deal, which would likely reverse some of Trump’s progress in the Middle East. Trump may crackdown on Iran in order to prevent this reversal.

STATEN ISLAND, NYC: Muslim murders his daughter for being too ‘Americanized’ and not wanting to wear hijab

Witless Western feminists now have an annual event, World Hijab Day, in which they don hijabs in order to show solidarity with Muslim women in the West who supposedly experience abuse for wearing the hijab, although a great many of these incidents have been found to have been faked by the alleged victims. The real victims of abuse over wearing the hijab are much more often girls and women who don’t wear it, such as Ola Salem.

Aqsa Parvez’s Muslim father choked her to death with her hijab after she refused to wear it. Amina Muse Ali was a Christian woman in Somalia whom Muslims murdered because she wasn’t wearing a hijab. 40 women were murdered in Iraq in 2007 for not wearing the hijab. Alya Al-Safar’s Muslim cousin threatened to kill her and harm her family because she stopped wearing the hijab in Britain. Amira Osman Hamid faced whipping in Sudan for refusing to wear the hijab. An Egyptian girl, also named Amira, committed suicide after being brutalized by her family for refusing to wear the hijab. Muslim and non-Muslim teachers at the Islamic College of South Australia were told they had to wear the hijab or be fired. Women in Chechnya were police shot with paintballs because they weren’t wearing hijab. Other women in Chechnya were threatened by men with automatic rifles for not wearing hijab.

Elementary school teachers in Tunisia were threatened with death for not wearing hijab. Syrian schoolgirls were forbidden to go to school unless they wore hijab. Women in Gaza were forced by Hamas to wear hijab. Women in Iran protested against the regime by daring to take off their hijabs. Women in London were threatened with murder by Muslim thugs if they didn’t wear hijab. An anonymous young Muslim woman doffed her hijab outside her home and started living a double life in fear of her parents. Fifteen girls in Saudi Arabia were killed when the religious police wouldn’t let them leave their burning school building because they had taken off their hijabs in their all-female environment. A girl in Italy had her head shaved by her mother for not wearing hijab.

Other women and girls have been killed or threatened, or live in fear for daring not to wear the hijab. But where are the feminists standing in solidarity with them?

“Staten Island fugitive arraigned, held without bail in Staten Island slay of Muslim activist daughter,” by Rocco Parascandola, New York Daily News, December 22, 2020:

A former Olympic boxer charged with the strangulation of his daughter — an activist for the rights of Muslim women — was arraigned on murder charges Tuesday and ordered held without bail, the Staten Island district attorney said.

Kabary Salem, 52, was extradited from Kuwait on Friday, ending a year-long manhunt that started shortly after his daughter, Ola Salem, 25, was found strangled in Bloomingdale Park, a 138-acre park on the South Shore of Staten Island, the morning of Oct. 24, 2019.

Salem fled the country, possibly spending time in Egypt, authorities said — and even tried to throw investigators off his trail by telling The New York Times his daughter had complained to him that she was being tailed by another car on the highway.

“I want to know what happened to her, what is the reason for that, but no one tells me,” he told the news outlet. “I am just waiting.

“She was a really good, beautiful girl.”

Kabary Salem was indicted by a grand jury Nov. 3 and charged with murder, manslaughter, concealment of a human corpse and strangulation….

It’s unclear what sparked the violence. The DA’s office wouldn’t comment on a report that the father wasn’t happy with the man his daughter was dating.A source who knew the daughter told the Daily News she was becoming more Westernized and didn’t want to wear her hijab.

“She was very outspoken,” the source said. “She wasn’t timid.”

“She was becoming Americanized,” the source said….

The suspect was a top boxer in Egypt and competed in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. His daughter also boxed and had dedicated her life to championing the rights of Muslim woman.

U.S. Guided-missile Submarine Sails Into Persian Gulf

U.S. Guided-missile Submarine Sails Into Persian Gulf

BY WARREN MASS

SEE: https://thenewamerican.com/u-s-guided-missile-submarine-sails-into-persian-gulf/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

The guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (shown) entered the Persian Gulf on December 21, escorted by the guided-missile cruisers USS Port Royal and USS Philippine Sea, in what is regarded as a deterrence mission against Iran.

The trio of ships entered the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a news release from U.S. Naval Forces Central Command. The strait is regarded as the world’s most critical “choke point” for vessels carrying oil and other petroleum products.

Georgia’s presence in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations (AOO) demonstrates the U.S. Navy’s ability to sail and operate wherever international law allows,” the release stated.

“As an inherently flexible maneuver force, capable of supporting routine and contingency operations, Georgia’s presence demonstrates the United States’ commitment to regional partners and maritime security with a full spectrum of capabilities to remain ready to defend against any threat at any time,” added the release. The statement noted that U.S. guided-missile submarines can “carry up to 154 Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles” and “can also be configured to host up to 66 Special Operations Forces.”

The movement of U.S. ships into the waterway south of Iran came one day after eight rockets were fired into Baghdad’s International Zone near the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. The rockets caused “minor damage,” but no embassy personnel were injured. The Iraqi military said one Iraqi soldier was injured when a rocket landed near a security checkpoint.

“The United States strongly condemns the latest attack by Iran-backed militias on the International Zone in Baghdad,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a December 20 statement. “We wish those hurt a speedy recovery.”

In a tweet from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran denied responsibility for the attack.

“We strongly refute @SecPompeo’s irresponsible anti-#Iran accusations, which blatantly aim to create tension,” Khatibzadeh tweeted. “Iran rejects any attack on diplomatic missions. The U.S. military presence is the source of instability in our region. No amount of spin can divert blame for its evils.”

Although some observers have made a connection between that event and the decision to send U.S. ships into the Persian Gulf, a Navy official told Fox News that these warship movements into the gulf were “long-planned” and were not in response to the embassy attack.

However, the timing of the mission may have been influenced by the upcoming anniversary on January 3 of the Iranian major general Qasem Soleimani., commander of the Quds Force, one of five branches of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

U.S. officials justified the strike on Soleimani, claiming it was necessary to stop an “imminent attack.” Some U.S. officials expressed concern that Iran may use the anniversary of Solemani’s killing to carry out a strike on U.S. interests.

Tensions between Iran and nations relying on the ability to safely ship LNG (liquefied natural gas) and oil through the Strait of Hormuz have been heightened in recent years, especially after attacks on two oil tankers (one Taiwanese and the other Japanese) moving through the strait in June 2019.

Then-National Security Advisor John Bolton blamed Iran for both attacks, claiming that the rogue country was “almost certainly” responsible for those attacks. Bolton asked rhetorically “Who else would you think is doing it?”

Former Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas), who was a leading non-interventionist during his time in Congress, complained of the desire for foreign intervention among many U.S. policymakers, “The U.S. foreign policy establishment has for decades been dominated by neoconservative interventionists and falsely-named ‘humanitarian’ interventionists. These people believe that because the United States is the one ‘exceptional nation,’ no conflict anywhere in the world could possibly be solved without our butting our noses into it.”

Paul continued, “U.S. policy toward Iran is an unwise consistency and the Trump administration is hopelessly floundering on the bad advice of the neocons. They want nothing more than war on Iran. But the American people do not. It’s time to end this failed policy of confrontation with Iran.”

While there is nothing necessarily provocative about U.S. ships navigating the neutral waters of the Persian Gulf, care must be taken to be sure that such missions are not part of a larger agenda to draw Iran into military conflict.

Germany: Muslim cleric says ‘Christmas is an insult to Allah’

The Qur’an denies that Jesus is the Son of God (19:35) and that he was crucified (4:157). Hence he is not the savior of the world and Christmas is not the day on which “Christ the savior is born.” The idea that Jesus is the Son of God is described in the Qur’an as an insult to Allah’s “transcendent majesty” (4:171). So what Abu Maher says here is not “extremist,” but mainstream Islam. Imagine the embarrassment of European authorities when they finally realize this, and its implications.

“Preacher in Braunschweig: ‘Christmas is an insult to Allah!,'” translated from “Prediger in Braunschweig: „Weihnachten ist eine Beleidigung Allahs!“” by David Berger, Philosophia Perennis, December 19, 2020 (thanks to Medforth):

Last Christmas Eve, the “Deutschsprachige Muslimische Gemeinschaft e.V.” published a video that is still available on YouTube today and is now attracting more and more attention online around Christmas. The message of the video, in which Abu Maher preaches: “Christmas is an insult to Allah!” (Blasphemy).

The “German-speaking Muslim Community” (DMG) is a registered association that describes itself as follows: “As an association in Braunschweig that has existed for many years, we represent Islam according to the understanding of the first three generations after the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and want to convey Islam – based on the Qurân and Sunna (path of the Prophet) and its pure message – to our fellow human beings and society. It is important to us to enable all interested parties to get to know the values and norms that Islam imposes on people …

Laws yes, but …

Under the heading “Important!”, The association says: “As a Muslim community, we represent a part of the local society. We respect the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, but at the same time insist on our basic rights, such as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, and want like every citizen and let every citizen live and live in peace and mutual tolerance. ”

I seriously doubt whether such a video contributes to peace and mutual tolerance …

the United States created the foundation on which great research universities could be built. Those core values included…organized skepticism (the willingness to entertain the most radical of ideas, but subject the claims to truth and fact to the most rigorous scrutiny)…

Jonathan R. Cole, John Mitchell Mason Professor of the University at Columbia University[1]

The Mission Statement of Rice University (Houston, TX) states that it is “a leading research university.”[2] Unfortunately, Rice University seems to be lacking in the core value of “organized skepticism.” Here is why.

Dr. Craig Considine is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Rice University. In July 2020, Considine’s new book, The Humanity of Muhammad: A Christian View, was published. Unfortunately, Considine’s book not only misrepresented “the life and impact” of Muhammad, but it was based on Considine’s version of Fantasy Islam, which was created to fit his narrative. Consequently, I wrote a three-part article about Considine’s book that was published by Jihad Watch on December 1st – 3rd: “The Fantasy Islam of Rice University’s Craig Considine.”[3]

On December 3, Dr. Carl Goldberg emailed Craig Considine the links to my three-part article and asked for Considine’s response to my article.

From December 3-5, either Dr. Goldberg or I emailed the following Rice University personnel the links to my three-part article pointing out how Considine’s book created a fantasy version of Islam to fit Considine’s narrative:

David Leebron, Rice University President

Reginald DesRoches, Rice University Provost

Linda L. Thrane, Vice President for Public Affairs

Doug Miller, Director of News and Media relations

Jeff Falk, Director of National Media Relations

Amy McCaig, Senior Media Relations Specialist

Arie Wilson Passwaters, Editor, Rice News

Editor, Rice Thresher (Student Newspaper)

As of December 16, neither of us have received any replies.

But this was not Rice University’s only involvement with Fantasy Islam.

On November 9-10, 2020, Dr. Zahra Jamal, Associate Director at the Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance, Rice University, was the main presenter in an online presentation for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy: “Engaging and Building Partnerships with Muslim Americans.”

Jamal had created her own version of Fantasy Islam and gave that version in her presentation. As a result of that presentation, I wrote the following article that appeared in Jihad Watch on November 17, 2020: “The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy meets Fantasy Islam.”[4]

On December 5, I sent this email to Dr. Jamal:

Dr. Jamal,

I am writing with regard to your November 9-10, 2020 online presentation for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy: “Engaging and Building Partnerships with Muslim Americans.”

Below is a link to my recent article pointing out how inaccurately you presented Islam. I concluded my article by noting:

At the ILEA website we find this

Here at ILEA, we are excited to serve the people of Iowa as we bring excellence in training, testing, and standards to peace officers, telecommunicators, and jailers across the state.

Unfortunately, with this particular class the “excellence in training” about Islam was replaced with Dr. Zahra Jamal’s Fantasy Islam.

I look forward to your reply.

I copied this email to the following Rice University personnel:

Reginald DesRoches, Rice University Provost

Linda L. Thrane, Vice President for Public Affairs

Dr. Paula Sanders, Director Boniuk Institute

Dr. Gayle Pagnoni, Program Director Boniuk Institute

Doug Miller, Director of News and Media relations

Jeff Falk, Director of National Media Relations

Amy McCaig, Senior Media Relations Specialist

As of December 16, I have not received any replies.

Conclusion

At the beginning of this article, I quoted from Columbia University Professor Jonathan Cole that a core value for a research university is “organized skepticism,” which Cole defined as

the willingness to entertain the most radical of ideas, but subject the claims to truth and fact to the most rigorous scrutiny…

Craig Considine and Zahra Jamal have certainly entertained “the most radical of ideas” by creating their respective versions of Fantasy Islam, but there appears to have been no “organized skepticism” about this from within the ranks of Rice University.

Rice University apparently has no problem when its professors make up their own “truths and facts” about Islam, even though those “truths and facts” fly in the face of the commands of Allah in the Koran, the teachings and example of Muhammad, and the writings over the centuries by authoritative Muslim scholars. If this is allowable for the professors, then shouldn’t Rice University students be allowed to similarly create their own “truths and facts,” without having to face “organized skepticism”?

With this approach, Rice University could go from being just another “leading research university” to becoming the preeminent Fantasy Research university in the United States!

Dr. Stephen M. Kirby is the author of six books about Islam. His latest book is Islamic Doctrine versus the U.S. Constitution: The Dilemma for Muslim Public Officials.
