BESSENT MOCKS MACRON: U.S. Treasury Chief Attacks France’s Plan of Troops For Greenland

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron after Paris signaled interest in holding NATO military exercises in Greenland, dismissing the idea as misplaced while France grapples with serious budgetary challenges. Speaking at a press conference, Bessent suggested Macron should focus on domestic economic priorities rather than “quixotic” security gestures, reinforcing the Trump administration’s stance that national security begins with economic strength. The remarks come amid rising tensions between Washington and European leaders over tariffs, defense responsibility, and Greenland’s strategic role, with the U.S. accusing Europe of reacting with “reflexive anger” instead of engaging constructively on security.

Scott Bessent's Total Take Down of Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris in One Diss

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ripped California Gov. Gavin Newsom for his comments calling the Trump official “smug.” On Tuesday, Bessent spoke on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he said some parents may be buying “five, 10, 12 homes” for retirement. Newsom took to X to reshare a clip of the remarks, writing: “Could this smug man be more out of touch?”

Trump “MUST HAVE” Greenland — And Europe Is Panicking | The Arctic Power Grab Explained

Donald Trump has taken his most aggressive step yet toward one of his most controversial ambitions: bringing Greenland under U.S. control. Just days before Christmas, Trump appointed a special envoy for Greenland, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, signaling that this is no longer rhetorical posturing—but an active geopolitical campaign. Europe reacted with outrage. Denmark flatly refused. The European Union declared full solidarity with Greenland. And yet, Washington pressed forward anyway. So why is Trump pushing this now? And why Greenland? In this video, we break down who Jeff Landry really is, why Trump chose a loyalist over a career diplomat, and what this appointment signals about America’s changing approach to power. We explore the three core theories behind Trump’s Greenland push—from Monroe Doctrine 2.0, to Arctic military strategy, to the island’s vast reserves of oil, gas, and rare earth minerals that are critical for the global tech and defense industries. Greenland isn’t just ice and isolation. It sits at the heart of the Arctic power struggle, controls future shipping routes between Asia and Europe, and occupies a strategic position for missile defense systems like Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome.” In a world moving toward multipolar competition, Greenland may be one of the most valuable pieces of territory on Earth. But there’s a catch: Greenlanders don’t want to be American—even as many support independence from Denmark. And that raises an uncomfortable question: what happens if diplomacy fails? This video explains why Greenland has suddenly become a top U.S. priority, why Europe is alarmed, and why this move could redefine Arctic geopolitics, NATO unity, and global power projection for years to come.

‘We need access’: Victor Davis Hanson reacts to JD Vance Greenland visit

On Friday's "Newsline," Hoover Institute Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson talked about why President Donald Trump is placing an emphasis on Greenland as Vice President JD Vance arrived.

How Donald Trump Is Reshaping America in Just 7 Weeks

With so much information—and misinformation—circulating, it's time to take a step back and assess the bigger picture of Trump’s impact in his first 7 weeks in office. In today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Hanson breaks down Trump’s rapid push for fundamental, disruptive change—a counter-revolution reshaping America’s economic, energy, and foreign policy landscape. “ Trump is in a race. He's in a race to enact fundamental, disruptive change, a counterrevolution, and it's going to be rough for a while, as he pointed out. But the things that he has already done are going to have, shortly or maybe even midterm, fundamental advantages for the United States”… “If he's able to solve the Ukraine war, and if he is able to have a general peace in the Middle East, that will be the most substantial presidency—if he does nothing else—that we've seen in 50 years.”

Greenland and The Panama Canal — Why Both are VITAL for the Future!

Greenland has some of the world’s largest untapped deposits of rare earth minerals, including graphite, copper, and lithium, that are essential for making all kinds of tech, vehicles, and planes. Glenn Beck argues that it’s in our national security interest to collapse China’s stranglehold on mining and refining the world’s rare earth minerals. Trump’s critics also forget the history of the Panama Canal. Ronald Reagan reminded us in 1976: “We bought it. We paid for it.” So why shouldn’t we keep it? The U.S. is still the number one customer of the Canal, but China is number two. President Trump knows the canal is a chokepoint for our economy and fired a warning shot at China in his inaugural address, so who better to negotiate these deals than Trump himself...

The REAL Reason Trump Wants Greenland and the Panama Canal | Glenn TV | Ep 407

Glenn Beck debunks the hysterical claims that President Trump wants to conduct military invasions because of his interest in Greenland and the Panama Canal. His critics ignore the big picture. This isn’t some imperialistic power play — it is strategic maneuvering to counter Chinese and Russian ambitions. The U.S. has a long history of planting a flag in Greenland to combat threats from Nazis and the Soviet Union. Greenland also has some of the world’s largest untapped deposits of rare earth minerals, including graphite, copper, and lithium, that are essential for making all kinds of tech, vehicles, and planes. Glenn argues that it’s in our national security interest to collapse China’s stranglehold on mining and refining the world’s rare earth minerals. Trump’s critics also forget the history of the Panama Canal. Ronald Reagan reminded us in 1976: “We bought it. We paid for it.” So why shouldn’t we keep it? The U.S. is still the number one customer of the Canal, but China is number two. President Trump knows the canal is a chokepoint for our economy and fired a warning shot at China in his inaugural address. At the end of the day, both places are high stakes real estate deals, and who better to negotiate those deals than our new 47th president?

GLENN BECK: DEBUNKED; Media Says Trump May Take Panama Canal & Greenland by FORCE

Donald Trump is making some big – and unusual – promises before taking office for the second time. Trump has said he will rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America”. He has suggested that Canada should become the 51st state. He said he wants to buy Greenland. He also wants the Panama Canal back. But recently, the media used a loaded question to make it sound like Trump isn’t ruling out a military invasion of the Panama Canal and Greenland. Glenn debunks the media’s lies and explains what he believes Trump is really doing: Is this imperialism? Or is it “The Art of the Deal”?

GLENN BECK EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Kirk Returns from Greenland & Explains Trump’s Plan

Amid Donald Trump’s talk about buying Greenland, Turning Point USA founder ‪@RealCharlieKirk‬ traveled with Donald Trump Jr. to Nuuk, Greenland, to have a look around. After returning home, Charlie joins Glenn for an exclusive interview about what he saw and what President Trump’s plans are. Is this just a negotiation tactic, or is he serious about buying Greenland? Charlie tells Glenn that one thing was made very clear when he visited Nuuk: The people of Greenland are tired of Denmark and love America! Charlie also touches on Trump’s plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America”, to annex Canada, and to regain control of the Panama Canal.

Canada, the Panama Canal, and Now Greenland-What’s behind Trump’s expansionist rhetoric?

First, President-elect Donald Trump tweaked Canada’s far-left Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about becoming governor of the 51st state of the United States of America. He said that the Panama Canal should once again come under American control. Make that the 52nd state. Now, are you ready for a 53rd state? On Sunday, Trump renewed a call he made during his first term: that the United States should buy Greenland from Denmark. Could the man possibly be serious?

Maybe not. The left’s propaganda arm, also known as the mainstream media, loves to portray Trump and his supporters as angry, bitter, ignorant people lashing out against people who know better what’s good for them. Trump has never gotten credit for his sense of humor, despite the fact that he is easily the funniest man to occupy the White House since Ronald Reagan, and may even surpass the Gipper.

Much of Trump’s humor goes entirely unnoticed. Few have taken any note of the fact that his new Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, recalls the Doge internet meme that Elon Musk briefly made Twitter’s logo in 2023. And Trump’s teasing of “Governor” Trudeau went so far over the head of MSNBC that the far-left garbage machine put out an article ascribing the gibe to Trump’s “confusion.”

On the other hand, there was nothing funny about Trump’s statement that the U.S. should resume control of the Panama Canal. “Has anyone ever heard of the Panama Canal?” Trump asked the crowd at AmericaFest. “Because we’re being ripped off at the Panama Canal just like we’re being ripped off everywhere else.”

Trump went on to explain that the Panama Canal “was given to Panama and to the people of Panama,” “but it has provisions, you gotta treat us fairly and they haven’t treated us fairly. If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to the United States of America in full, quickly, and without question.”

Trump wasn’t being funny about Greenland, either. “For the purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World,” he wrote on Sunday, “the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.” This got the same reception that it got during Trump’s first term. Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede said haughtily on Monday that “Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland. We are not for sale and we will not be for sale.” He didn’t seem to have mentioned that Greenland is not an independent state but is Danish territory.

Even in floating the idea, however, along with his statements about the Panama Canal, Trump has become the most forthrightly expansionist president since William McKinley. Is this all about personal vainglory, as the left contends, or is there more substance to it? The answer is clear: Trump is once again being true to his America-First convictions.

His question to Trudeau was pointed, and remains unanswered: “So your country can’t survive unless it’s ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion?” Trump asked Trudeau this question when the Canadian prime minister complained that the tariff Trump threatened to levy if Canada continued to do nothing to control its long border with the U.S. would destroy Canada. That’s where the Canada-as-the-51st-state jibe originated; it’s really all about Trump protecting American interests.

With the canal, it’s the same situation. Trump contends that we’re not being treated fairly. Politico reported that he “also said he would not let the canal fall into the ‘wrong hands,’ warning of potential Chinese influence in Panama.” Regarding Greenland, it’s once again the same story. Harvard International Review noted in an Aug. 2024 article that “while Greenland remains closely linked to Scandinavia as an autonomous region of Denmark, global powers such as the United States, China, and Russia are racing to extend military and economic influence in the region as it becomes more habitable.”

Here’s the bottom line: if the United States doesn’t control the Panama Canal and Greenland, China or Russia likely will, and the consequences could be severe both for the American economy and for national security. So while the leftist intelligentsia laughs at Trump’s revival of the Manifest Destiny imperative, there is, as is so often the case, a method to his madness. Trump is playing the great power game at a time when the left wants nothing more than for America to stand down and let China be the world’s great power. It’s yet another reason why leftists hate him so passionately.
