Far-Left German Minister Wants to Grant Migrants Right to Vote After Only Six Months

This mad proposal, which if carried out would more quickly transform Germany into a country dominated by a large Muslim voting bloc, can be found here: “Asylum seekers should have right to vote after only 6-month stay on German soil, says far-left interior minister,” by John Cody, Remix News, September 19, 2023:

With Germany’s left-wing government sinking in the polls over a spiraling migration crisis and an economy in free fall, the left is starting to run low on voters. German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser may have the solution to the problem: Give asylum seekers the right to vote in local state elections after just six months in Germany. The program, if implemented, would translate into millions of new voters overnight.

We want to work hard at the federal level and in the Bundesrat to ensure that all people who live in Hessian municipalities for more than six months are given the right to vote in local elections,” describes the election program from her Social Democrats (SPD) in the state of Hesse where Faeser is currently up for election….

Migrants from EU countries share a common civilizational heritage with the Germans; it is not unreasonable to allow them to vote. They inhabit the same moral and intellectual universe. But the other migrants from outside the EU are overwhelmingly Muslim, and do not share that heritage; worse still, they regard the indigenous Germans as Infidels, and therefore “the most vile of created beings.”

Bild newspaper asked the SPD to clarify what the massive expansion of voting rights would actually mean. An SPD spokesman responded that the party’s statement should have specifically defined the new voters as those “who have a permanent residence permit.” However, this would still apply to a range of asylum seekers from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Eritrea.

Giving the vote to Muslim economic migrants who have been in the country for only six months — instead of limiting that right to citizens (and to become a citizen, a migrant has to have lived legally in Germany for eight years, or seven years if he has successfully passed an integration course) — would instantly give an estimated four million migrants the right to vote, and vote they will, en masse, for the far-left parties that made their voting after six months possible.

Faeser is known for her hardline left-wing political positions, persecution of conservatives, and calls for mass censorship; she was also previously revealed to have written for Antifa magazine shortly before becoming interior minister….

The far-left Faeser has a worrisome record as a persecutor of conservatives and as an Antifa supporter; she is not at all bothered with the tsunami of Muslim economic migrants who are draining the German treasury and making Germany a far more unpleasant, expensive, and dangerous place to live. Instead, she wants to admit ever more such migrants and allow them to vote, they will cast their ballots by the millions for the far-left parties that have given them that vote, and the left will be assured of staying in power, aided by an ever-increasing number of Muslim migrants who, if Faeser’s latest proposal becomes law, will after only six months in Germany be exercising the right to vote.

Faeser’s proposal would give the vote to people, almost all of them Muslim economic migrants, who are years away from becoming citizens, who are not integrated into German society, and likely never truly will be, precisely because they are Muslims and despise Infidels who are “the most vile of created beings.” They may pretend to be asylum-seekers, but in truth, they are economic migrants, determined to take advantage of all the benefits that Germany’s generous welfare system can provide — free or subsidized housing, free medical care, free education (including vocational training), unemployment benefits, family allowances, and more. That is their only reason for being in Germany. And once they get the vote, they will vote in leftist politicians who are pushing for Germany to welcome still more Muslim immigrants who will allow in still more Muslim economic immigrants, and also increase the benefits provided to them. Already Germany is spending 36 billion euros a year on these migrants, and this sum has required large cuts in government support for German retirees When these economic migrants are able to vote after only six months, they will cast their ballots for leftist politicians who will expand the benefits provided, and that colossal sum now spent on the migrants will inexorably become larger still.

“The German passport is thus turned into a piece of junk. But above all: Faeser and the SPD want to attract people who have no connection to Germany at all as new groups of voters. This is not surprising, because the locals who are ridiculed as ‘non-migrants’ [i.e., the indigenous Germans] are running away from (Chanceller Olaf) Scholz’s SPD.”

Yes, how amusing to describe the indigenous Germans as “non-migrants”– as if they, the indigenous people of the country, are the interlopers. And these Germans, formerly supporters of the centrist-left SPD, are now leaving it in droves for the AfD, the party best known for its anti-Muslim migrant policy. Just now the AfD has become the strongest political force in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, making it the fourth eastern German state — after Brandenburg, Thuringia, and Saxony — in which the far-right party leads in the polls.

There is now a race on in Germany. Will the left manage to reduce the time migrants need to remain in Germany in order to vote from eight years — which is the time now required for someone living in Germany to become a citizen, and hence a voter — to six months, in which case another few million migrants will be able to vote for the parties furthest to the left, and they will continue to do so, from here on out, to make sure that Germany remains wide open to Muslim migrants and increases the government benefits to be supplied to them? And should that happen, that is how Germany will come undone.

A Porn Star Is Running for the Virginia House of Delegates, and Why Not?

A Porn Star Is Running for the Virginia House of Delegates, and Why Not?
susannagibson.com
Susanna Gibson is running for a key seat in the Virginia House of Delegates that could determine which party has a majority in that body and can enact its agenda. She has also just been discovered to be an active porn star, performing sex acts with her husband on livestreams. After this news broke, Gibson was defiant, refusing to withdraw from the race. And why should she? She perfectly encapsulates the Democrats’ present-day ethos: statism and libertinism wrapped in the language of moral crusades and individual rights.

Gibson promises that if she is elected, she “will continue to fight for you, your families, and our community.” Hey, great, we’ve never heard a candidate say that before. She ticks all the boxes for today’s left: “Climate change is a very real threat to our national security, public health, economic prosperity, and diverse biosphere,” she informs us solemnly. She wants “common-sense gun laws.” She “will be a strong ally for the LGBTQ+ community in our General Assembly.”

Above all, she will fight for the most important issue of all for Democrats today, the right to sacrifice babies to Moloch: “As a volunteer with Planned Parenthood, I believe strongly — with every fiber of my being — that women must have control over their own bodies.” Oh, boy, does she.

The Washington Post revealed Monday that Gibson has “performed sex acts with her husband for a live online audience and encouraged viewers to pay them with ‘tips’ for specific requests.” She “streamed sex acts on Chaturbate, a platform that says it takes its name from ‘the act of masturbating while chatting online.’” Yet despite the fact that these live streams were all too public, a furious Gibson responded to this revelation by terming it “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family.”

In the tried-and-true Democrat fashion, Gibson claimed victimhood, saying that the disclosure that she has sex for money on video “won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me.” She charged that “my political opponents and their Republican allies have proven they’re willing to commit a sex crime to attack me and my family because there’s no line they won’t cross to silence women when they speak up.”

Wait a minute. A “sex crime”? Gibson was referring not to her videos, but to the revelation that she had made them. As they were quite public, it’s difficult to see how she has a case, but she is claiming that the revelation that she made the videos constitutes revenge porn, which is against the law in Virginia. With all the indignant self-righteousness he could muster, Gibson’s attorney, Daniel P. Watkins, stated: “We are working closely with state and federal law enforcement.”

Yeah, well, it doesn’t take a lawyer to point out that revenge-porn laws address the unauthorized publication of photos or videos that were meant to remain private. The Post notes that “in this case, Gibson originally live-streamed these sexual acts on a site that was not password-protected. The couple had more than 5,700 followers there.

Many of the videos remained available to the public on other unrestricted sites as of Saturday.” Watkins “pointed to a 2021 Virginia Court of Appeals ruling that found it was unlawful for a man to secretly record his girlfriend during a consensual sexual encounter even if he did not show the video to others.” Yet there was nothing secret about Gibson’s videos.

Corey D. Silverstein, whom the Post identifies as “a prominent adult entertainment industry lawyer,” is more honest when he says, “I think it’s fantastic you have someone running who has an open sex life. It’s actually very refreshing.” Refreshing maybe, but Susanna Gibson certainly epitomizes the ethos of the modern Democrat Party. Why shouldn’t the party that is pushing drag queens and pornography in primary schools want a pornographic performer in the Virginia House of Delegates?

Related: Democrats Think the Rules Don’t Apply to Them

In Huxley’s “Brave New World,” the luckless inhabitants of the dystopian statist future are kept perpetually stoned with a drug that keeps them passive and happy as they toil away as slaves to the state. Gibson’s drug of choice is pornography, but if that doesn’t do it for you, the Democrats are also offering free needles and all manner of other perks to those who just keep pushing the correct lever and keeping them in power. The Post notes that Gibson’s “two largest donors are the environmental group Clean Virginia Fund ($45,000) and the abortion rights outfit Emily’s List ($20,000).” Of course, they are. Impoverished, barren, and enslaved to the shallow pursuit of pleasure: there’s the perfect leftist voter.

In her own defense, Gibson took a page from Trump’s playbook, charging that “they are trying to silence me because they want to silence you, and I won’t let that happen.” She doesn’t want us silenced until she is elected. Then she wants us to shut up and watch porn while we are disarmed and rendered defenseless as our economy is destroyed and our rights are systematically taken away. It’s the Democrat way. She’s the perfect Democrat candidate.

As 45th President Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary, liberal groups have explored invoking a section of the 14th Amendment to possibly bar Trump from running for office in certain states.

“It’s an absolutely insane theory,” said constitutional attorney Jesse Binnall.

They claim Section 3 of the 14th Amendment reads: “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

“On January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump encouraged people to peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard,” Binnall told One America News. “That is not an insurrection. That is not giving aid or comfort to the enemy. You know what is giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Engaging in business with either our enemies or other corrupt countries such as Ukraine — what the Bidens have done.”

“So under this theory, Secretary of States shouldn’t remove Donald Trump from the ballot,” Binnall continued. “They should remove Joe Biden from the ballot, but nobody’s saying that.”

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes addressed this possible issue in an interview with local outlets.

“Now, the Arizona Supreme Court said that because there’s no statutory process in federal law to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, you can’t enforce it,” Fontes said on “The Gaggle” podcast by The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com.

Binnall emphasized that even talking about this possibility is a slippery slope for both sides.

“It’s absolute insanity to start taking people off the ballot unilaterally,” Binnall said. “Just having bureaucrats pull people off the ballot, which is what these extreme left-wing people want to have happen.”

He claimed that no reading of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment would support removing Trump from the ballot in any state. He specifically highlighted the use of the word “officer” in the text to support Trump.

“If you want to be technical about it, a plain reading of the text of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, the president is not an officer of the United States,” Binnall explained. “The officers of the United States are people who are appointed by the president, not the president himself. They specifically provided four members of Congress, and they therefore excluded the president.”

Some left-wing groups are likely to bring lawsuits regarding this part of the Constitution as election season nears. It could trigger legal chaos that goes as high as the U.S. Supreme Court.

“They don’t want the people to choose the next president,” Binnall said.”

“We must, at the end of this, make sure that this never happens again,” Binnall continued. “And the way that we do that is accountability, criminal accountability, for the people that are doing this to our country.”

45th President Donald Trump has stated that he plans to turn himself in at the Fulton County, Georgia jail on Thursday.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump said that this indictment and arrest are all a “witch hunt” in “coordination with Crooked Jo Biden’s DOJ.”

On Monday, Trump’s defense team met with the Fulton County District Attorney in order to come to a bond agreement. The agreement that was made will have Trump facing a $200,000 bond.

An order signed by Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee listed the prohibitions that Trump will also be facing after his bond is paid. If he is to break any of the limits that have been placed on him, his bond could be revoked.

“The Defendant shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a codefendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice,” the order read. “The above shall include, but are not limited to, posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual on social media.”

The Fulton County case is the first case that the release conditions for Trump have included a cash bond and certain prohibitions. The case is the fourth brought against the 45th president this year, with the other three having release conditions that have been minimal.

Trump is facing 13 charges in Fulton County, including violation of the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

18 other individuals have been charged in the same case in Fulton County, all have been given until noon on Friday to turn themselves in.

Trump has maintained his innocence and pled not guilty to all the charges that have been levied against him.

Former President Donald Trump and his legal team have agreed to post a $200,000 bond on the Georgia 2020 election case.

On Monday, Trump’s attorneys met with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office and came to an agreement on a $200,000 bond among other release conditions.

According to the terms of the consent bond order, the 45th president cannot perform any acts of witness intimidation nor communicate about the facts of the case with any co-defendants, except through his lawyers.

This also includes not violating any federal laws.

Bond agreements were also met with two of Trump’s co-defendants, John Eastman and Scott Hall.

Eastman had a bond order of $100,000. According to the bond, every 30 days, he must report to pretrial supervision, which he may do by phone. He is also prohibited from communicating with any other co-defendants from the case.

Eastman also faces nine counts for allegedly helping form the strategy that allowed Trump to pressure former Vice President Mike Pence to throw out electors on January 6th, 2021.

Hall is facing seven charges related to an alleged connection with a local elections office breach in Coffee County, Georgia. His bond is reportedly set at $100,000.

The former president and all other 18 co-defendants are expected to surrender themselves due to the Friday deadline given by District Attorney Fani Willis.

Why Are So Many Republicans Cowering in the Face of Opposition?

Why Are So Many Republicans Cowering in the Face of Opposition?
(AP Photo/Feld Entertainment Inc., Gary Bogdon)
There are far too many polls out there to keep track of every one of them. But I was listening to a podcast earlier this morning that cited a poll that showed Trump with a slight edge over Biden in the General Election. Of course, we are more than a year away from that election, and everyone knows you can find polling data to support whatever point you want to prove. I’m not saying that the poll wasn’t accurate, but over the years, I’ve learned to take polling information with a grain of salt. And when possible, an entire margarita.

The Left and many on the Right hold to the theory that Trump will dominate the primaries only to be led to the slaughter in the general election. Of course, there are a number of variables, including Trump’s legal status and the Left’s election tactics. Even a cursory glance at the headlines will reveal that, as it stands, the Left seems to be enjoying a veritable free-for-all out there. That may or may not be true, but the Democrats are acting like they will be in power until entropy consumes the universe. And one must wonder if some in the GOP are engaging in a tactic that includes self-inflicted Stockholm Syndrome to avoid being caught in the line of fire. That fire is only going to intensify as Election Day/Week/Month/Year draws closer.

California is a forgone blue conclusion. That’s a no-brainer. But the California GOP seems to have decided to a) suck up, b) give up, c) duck, cover, or defect, or d) all of the above. The draft for the state party’s updated platform would seem to indicate that the answer is “d.” The Blaze reports that  the changes include

  • Removing language about two-parent families in favor of the term “healthy family unit.”
  • Removing the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
  • Removing the support for churches that opposed Obergefell.
  • Removing the objection to teaching social or political agendas in schools.
  • Replacing the statement that life begins in the womb with the idea of reducing abortions in the state.
  • Removing the section on election integrity that included supporting voter ID, proof of citizenship for registration, and chain of custody for ballots.

Given that more people who don’t fit the Republican mold seem to be drifting to the right, one can see the impetus for the changes in the position on marriage. But supporting churches that opposed Obergefell also speaks to the freedom of religion, conscience, and expression. Dropping the objection to teaching agendas in schools, the belief that life begins in the womb, and the position on election integrity does not seem like a “big tent” approach. It looks more like waving the white feather.

Elizabeth Marbach is a former Trump campaign and Ohio Republican Party staffer. Until this week, she was also employed by Ohio Right to Life. She was fired this week. Tuesday, she tweeted, “There’s no hope for any of us outside of having faith in Jesus Christ alone.” This did not sit well with Ohio Republican Representative Max Miller, who fired back, “This is one of the most bigoted tweets I have ever seen. Delete it, Lizzie. Religious freedom in the United States applies to every religion. You have gone too far.” Fox News notes that none other than Ilhan Omar came to Marbach’s defense by posting, “No! Stating the core beliefs or principles of your faith isn’t bigoted as Lizzie did, it's religious freedom, and no one should be scolded for that. it’s also wrong to speak about religious freedom while simultaneously harassing people who freely express their beliefs.” (sic)

That comment resulted in some flack from Omar’s fellow progressives, and she replied, “That’s her actual belief, you can disagree, but it’s not bigoted for her to say what her beliefs are. That’s all.”  But it was not long before Miller was back with hat in hand, posting, “I posted something earlier that conveyed a message I did not intend. I will not try to hide my mistake or run from it. I sincerely apologize to Lizzie and to everyone who read my post.” Marbach replied, “Max, I accept your apology 100%. However, the truth is that it is not me from whom you need forgiveness, but God himself. I genuinely pray you seek Him and find salvation!”

First, Marbach has the right to post what she wants. Second, a Republican congressman should have more to do at this juncture in history than police tweets. Third, it isn’t as if Christianity is some new, foreign entity that only recently cropped up in the Republican Party. Fourth, who would have thought Ilhan Omar would defend a Christian against a GOP congressman? Someone throw something out of a window. We need a gravity check.

Despite Miller’s apology, Marbach is no longer employed with Ohio Right to Life. That Marbach’s departure happened one day after the Twitter/X spat may be entirely coincidental. However, it is noteworthy that The Sentinel reported that Miller’s wife, Emily Moreno Miller, sits on the organization’s board. If conservatives are going to cower in the face of opposition and abandon things like life starting in the womb and election integrity, and if Congress members are going to turn their guns on Christians in order to posture, Republicans don’t stand a chance in November of 2024. No matter who is on the ballot.

Trump Attorneys Blast Latest Sham Indictment, DA Fani Willis

Trump Attorneys Blast Latest Sham Indictment, DA Fani Willis
(Kent D. Johnson/Atlanta Journal-Constitution via AP, Pool)
On Monday night, Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis handed down ten new indictments of former president Donald Trump over his alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump’s attorneys Drew Findling, Jennifer Little, and Marissa Goldberg released a statement early Tuesday, blasting the indictment, as well as the circumstances around it.

“The events that have unfolded today have been shocking and absurd, starting with the leak of a presumed and premature indictment before the witnesses had testified or the grand jurors had deliberated and ended with the District Attorney being unable to offer any explanation,” the statement began. “In light of this major fumble, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office clearly decided to force through and rush this 98-page indictment. This one-sided grand jury presentation relied on witnesses who harbor their own personal and political interests— some of whom ran campaigns touting their efforts against the accused and/or profited from book deals and employment opportunities as a result. We look forward to a detailed review of this indictment which is undoubtedly just as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process has been.”

The Trump campaign separately released a fact sheet blasting Willis, calling her a radical Democrat who has been campaigning and fundraising on her “bogus indictments” of President Trump.

The fact sheet noted that her partisan political activities even resulted in her disqualification from investigating an election witness last year. The Washington Post reported last year that the judge in the case ruled that her actions constituted a “plain — and actual and untenable — conflict,” and even commented that “It’s a ‘What are you thinking?’ moment. The optics are horrific.”

The Fulton County Superior Court Judge described the grand jury investigation as “one-sided” with “very limited due process” for those facing charges.

Wilis even launched her 2023 reelection campaign website mere days before the indictment dropped and has been bragging about her efforts to take down Trump to the media, which have no doubt contributed to her receiving 90% of her campaign contributions from out-of-state despite being a state prosecutor with only one county in her jurisdiction. Questions have also arisen as to whether Willis slow-walked the investigation in order for the indictment to interfere with the presidential election.

45th President Donald J. Trump has been indicted on a slew of charges in relation to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

On Monday, a Fulton County Grand Jury voted to approve charges against Trump in connection with alleged racketeering, conspiracy, and making false statements.

The Georgia Grand Jury delivered the indictment which included 10 charges in the election probe. Those charges include Violation of the Georgia RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization) Act, Solicitation of Violation of Oath By Public Officer, Conspiracy to Commit Impersonating a Public Officer, Conspiracy to Commit Forgery in the First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit False Statements and Writings, Conspiracy to Commit Filing False Documents, Conspiracy to Commit Forgery in the First Degree,  Filing False Documents, and Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer.

The charges come after a year of investigation from Fulton County DA Fani Willis, which included testimony from current and former state officials, including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

In March, the notable Republican became the first former United States president in history to face criminal charges.

He was indicted in New York on state charges regarding alleged hush money payments made to porn actor Stormy Daniels.

His next charge was the first federal indictment against a former president. In June, Trump was indicted in Florida regarding the alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

The most recent indictment was in Washington, D.C., and revolved around his alleged involvement in the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6th, 2021.

Trump has maintained his innocence in each case and has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

The 45th president also announced that he will be holding a “major news conference” on Monday August 21st to present a “detailed but irrefutable report on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia.”

Fulton County Indictment BACKFIRES as Trump’s Polls SURGE!!!

DeSantis Puts Trump on Blast for Refusing to Sign RNC Pledge

DeSantis Puts Trump on Blast for Refusing to Sign RNC Pledge
AP Photo/Ron Johnson
GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis torched Donald Trump over the former president’s refusal to sign the Republican National Committee’s pledge of supporting the eventual party nominee in 2024.

DeSantis spoke to reporters in Iowa, where he slammed Trump for refusing to sign the RNC pledge. The Florida governor noted that he had signed the pledge — being one of the first to do so — and jammed Trump for suggesting he may not support the eventual nominee.

“I mean, you can’t, on the one hand, say that the country’s going in such a bad direction, which we all believe, and then, on the other hand, say you’re just going to take your ball and go home,” DeSantis said.

“Really? So, you know, I’m happy to do that. I’ve voted Republican my whole life,” the Florida governor added. “And, you know, even though, you know, I’m confident we’ll be the nominee, at the end of the day, you know, you respect the judgment of how this works out, and you don’t take your ball and go home.”

“It’s not just about you. It’s about a larger mission that we have to accomplish for Americans,” DeSantis continued.

Trump has repeatedly indicated that he would not sign the RNC pledge, claiming that several candidates in the crowded GOP field have been “nasty” toward him. The former president has also expressed no interest in attending RNC-sanctioned debates, arguing that because of his high polling numbers, there’s really no need to debate.

In an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling on Wednesday, the former president said signing the pledge would not be worth it.

“I wouldn’t sign the pledge,” Trump said. “Why would I sign a pledge if there are people on there that I wouldn’t have?”

“I wouldn’t have certain people as, you know, somebody that I endorse. So they want you to sign a pledge,” the former president said, referring to the candidate field. “I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. So right there, there’s a problem right there. There’s a problem.”

Trump called the RNC’s criteria for participating in debates low, claiming that he would not want to give candidates polling at one percent a chance to say “nasty” things about him.

“You look at the debate, and they want you to debate, but you’re debating — it’s not really fair — somebody like Asa Hutchinson, who’s polling at zero percent, will ask me nasty questions,” Trump said. “Somebody like Chris Christie is falling at 1%, and he’s going to ask me nasty questions and others, too.”

Trump cited former Republican presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, who at one point or another chose to skip primary debates.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on Thursday at a campaign stop in Iowa that if elected president, he would be willing to use drone strikes against Mexican drug cartels.

“We will lean in against the drug cartels. We will absolutely reserve a right — if they’re invading our country and killing our people — we have a right to defend this country,” DeSantis (R-Fla.) said when a voter asked whether he would be willing to use drones against the cartels.

“We have the right to hold them accountable, and it’s not just that they happen to come over our border. And if Mexico’s not going to help us with that, well, then we’re going to have to do what we have to do,” he added.

Many Republicans have called for military action as the crisis at the border has worsened in recent years. Former President Donald Trump deployed more than 5,200 troops to combat the crisis in 2018. President Biden also sent 1,500 soldiers to the border in May to serve administrative and transport roles.

With large numbers of people coming across the border daily, Republicans have become concerned with the type of people who are evading Border Patrol agents. The head of Border Patrol announced last week that they captured four sex offenders, some of whom have committed crimes against children, coming into the United States within a single day.

Mexican authorities have pushed back on the idea of further military action from the U.S. In 2019, when Trump indicated that the Mexican drug cartels should be labeled as terrorist organizations, Mexican President López Obrador called for “cooperation” to handle the cartels, not “interventionism.”

In June, DeSantis endorsed the use of “deadly force” against migrants who are suspected of trafficking drugs. The Florida governor reiterated this policy again Thursday when he spoke to a crowd of supporters in a restaurant.

“We’re authorizing deadly force. They try to break into our country? They will end up stone-cold dead,” he said to a crowd of cheers.

In a recent interview, DeSantis explained how he would distinguish between migrants who are smuggling drugs and migrants who are not.

“Same way a police officer would know,” he said. “Same way somebody operating in Iraq would know. You know, these people in Iraq at the time, they all looked the same. You didn’t know who had a bomb strapped to them. So those guys have to make judgments.”

Other Republicans, including Representative Majorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, have also indicated that they would support military involvement in Mexican cartels.
