Did Donald Trump troll Canada into reigniting a dormant nationalism? Victor Davis Hanson argues that Trump's rhetoric has greatly impacted Canadian politics and suggests ways to resolve these tensions between them and America, including tariff adjustments and military collaborations in the Arctic. “That whole [Liberal] Party was headed toward defeat when Donald Trump started to troll them—'Art of the Deal’—sort of goad them in bombastic style that they should be the 51st state in the union of the United States. … And the result is that a Conservative politician, Pierre Poilievre, may lose the election. … We’ve got to correct that. “ All Canada has to do is lower its tariffs on certain American products and get the surplus down from $50 to $20 billion. … But right now, our closest friend is becoming one of our frenemies, if not one of our enemies, and it should stop as quickly as possible.”
“It’s déjà vu all over again,” Blaze News senior editor Daniel Horowitz tells Glenn. While Senate Republicans are planning on cutting a few hundred billion dollars in their next budget, they STILL passed a $340 billion budget blueprint. “Everyone hates inflation,” Horowitz argues, “except, they don’t want to reform or cut anything that’s driving it … What’s causing the current and future inflation are these programs!” Meanwhile, President Trump is asking for a balanced budget. “Now is the time,” Glenn says, for Trump to demand of Congress: “you HAVE to find these cuts!”
As DOGE continues to expose the many, many ways our government has wasted taxpayer dollars, Glenn gives a warning: “You have to be really careful [about what you believe] because we don’t want to wreck our credibility.” While the things DOGE has uncovered have been true, there is also a lot of rumors and misinformation spreading online. Glenn addresses some of those rumors, like the seemingly-unfounded claim that USAID helped fund Chelsea Clinton’s wedding through the Clinton Foundation. We must ask questions, but we can’t jump to conclusions without being sure that we have the real facts. Glenn also addresses some provably true stories of government waste, like how the Pentagon overpays for things and why Glenn supports Trump’s decision to stop minting pennies.
