The video dissects reactions from prominent Democrats like Adam Schiff and Chris Murphy, while exploring Patel's stance on declassification and government transparency. The analysis extends to recent protests against Elon Musk, DOGE spending cuts, and John Oliver's inadvertently positive assessment of Trump's first 30 days back in office, including major policy shifts with Canada and Mexico.

Pete Hegseth Begins First Day At Pentagon, Emphasizes Mission To Protect U.S. Sovereign Territory

On his first day at the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth expressed a message regarding the mission of the Department of Defense (DOD).

According to Hegseth, who was greeted by a group of reporters, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., said it was “an honor to serve on behalf of the president and serve on behalf of the country,” also noting, “The warfighters are ready to go.”

Hegseth then immediately shifted his focus to the border, recognizing that President Donald Trump was “hitting the ground running” with signed executive orders that designated cartels as international terrorist organizations while declaring an emergency at the southern border.

The DOD “snapped to” sending additional troops last week to install additional wall materials along the southern border, uplifting Trump and border czar Tom Homan’s efforts to ensure mass deportations.

“That is something the Defense Department absolutely will continue to do,” according to Hegseth.

“He’s [Trump] made it very clear. There is an emergency at the border,” Hegseth continued. “The protection of the sovereign territory of the United States is the job of the Defense Department.”

Last week, the Defense Department announced 1,500 active-duty service members and “additional air and intelligence assets” were being sent to the southern border “to augment troops already conducting enforcement operations in that region.”

After being asked whether more troops would be deployed to the border, Hegseth also added: “Whatever is needed at the border will be provided. Whether that is through state active duty, Title 32 or Title 10, because we are reorienting.”

“This is a shift. This is not the way things have been done in the past,” Hegseth said. “The Defense Department will support the defense of the territorial integrity of the United States at our southern border to include reservists, National Guard and active duty in compliance with the Constitution, the laws of our land, and the directives of the commander in chief.”

Hegseth, who served in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, Iraq and Afghanistan, said he expected the White House to issue other executive orders later on Monday. These would include orders to halt diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts inside the Pentagon, to reinstate troops who were “pushed out” due to COVID-19 vaccine mandates, and to implement the construction of an “Iron Dome for America,” Hegseth noted.

“Every moment I am here I am thinking about the guys and gals in Guam, in Germany, in Fort Benning, in Fort Bragg, on missile defense sites and aircraft carriers,” Hegseth stated. “Our job is lethality and readiness and warfighting.”

“We hold people accountable. I know the chairman agrees with that… The lawful orders of the President of the United States will be executed in this Defense Department swiftly and without excuse. We will be no better friend to our allies and no stronger adversary to those who want to test us and try us.”

Additionally, in relation to aid for Afghans who previously collaborated with the U.S. government, the new secretary was questioned on that topic as well. In order to determine whether the payments are in line with his administration’s foreign policy, Trump issued an executive order last week that halted all U.S. international development aid for ninety days.

ICE: 956 Illegal Aliens Detained In 1 Day During Ongoing Nationwide Raids

The rapid response administration of President Donald Trump has continued to conduct nationwide Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in the first week of his re-election. On Sunday alone, the agency reported at least 956 arrests.

By Thursday, over 1,300 people had been arrested, according to border czar Tom Homan.

ICE also posted another infographic on X on Monday, informing the public that they had made 1,170 arrests — in addition to 853 detainers lodged on the 27th.

Top Trump administration officials, including border czar Tom Homan, traveled to Chicago on Sunday to observe the beginning of increased illegal immigration enforcement in the third-largest city in the country.

Images of Bove and Homan with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Customs and Border Protection agents were shared on X by the DEA’s Chicago branch.

Homan told Ali Bradley of NewsNation that several “public safety threats,” including members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang, convicted murderers, and sex offenders, had been taken into custody.

Five members of the Tren de Aragua gang were taken into custody during the start of the Chicago deportation operation, according to sources who spoke to the outlet. The operation was carried out just days after rumors circulated that the Windy City would be the site of widespread deportation raids.

Meanwhile, Governor JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) and progressive Chicago authorities have defiantly pledged to shield immigrant communities from mass deportations.

Outside of Illinois, other Democratic state governors are also similarly declaring that they will not allow deportations to occur in their state, or they’re refraining from offering any assistance in the effort. Governor Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) told reporters that Arizona officials will not be assisting the Trump administration during their crackdown.

“We’re going to stand up to the administration just like I have from day one when they’re not getting it right for Arizonans,” Hobbs said last week on Friday.

“Harboring — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation” will be arrested, the DOJ noted.

In addition, if an individual “has been illegally harboring an alien, they may be fined and subject to up to five years of imprisonment,” according to Dhar Law LLP.

On the official White House website, which has now been taken over by the Trump administration, it notes the thought process behind the ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.

Texas: Gov. Abbott Defies Biden’s Order To Lower Flag To Half-Staff During Trump’s Inauguration Day

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he will be defying federal orders by ordering all flags in the Lone Star State to be flown at full-staff for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Abbott’s (R-Texas) announcement follows President Joe Biden’s directive for American flags to be flown at half-staff in order to honor former President Jimmy Carter’s death “for thirty days,” which happens to coincide with Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.

“Inauguration Day is a day of celebration for America. Today, I ordered flags raised to full-staff at the Texas Capitol & state buildings for President Trump’s inauguration,” Abbott wrote in an X post.

“While we honor President Carter’s service, we also celebrate an incoming President & our bright future,” he added.

Former President Carter passed away on December 29th at his Georgia estate, prompting Biden to declare that “the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories and possessions for a period of 30 days from the day of his death.”

The federal order from Biden marks the first time that American flags have been flown at half-staff during Inauguration Day, prompting criticism from Trump.

“The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ over our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves.”

“Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years – it’s a total mess! In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump added.

In response, White House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre firmly stated “no,” when asked if Biden would reconsider flying the flags at half-staff on Inauguration Day.
