The Woke Shakedown of the Catholic Church 2,000-year-old teachings get traded-in for climate change.

Pope Francis’s first liturgical scandal occurred in October 2019 during the so-called Synod on the Amazon when statues of an idol representing the Mother Earth goddess, or Pachamama, were venerated in St. Peter’s Basilica.
During the ceremonies there was a dancing procession of Pachamama where people prostrated themselves before the two wooden statues that represented naked and pregnant women and a statue of a male phallic figure reclining on his back. The event was meant to symbolize “the cry of the Amazonian land and native peoples.”
Francis later apologized for the incident, but the damage was done.
These disquieting events are rooted in some provocative church history. In 2018, the publication Catholic Philly.com commented on the Catholic Charismatic movement,
“Some traditional Catholics might be turned off by the highly emotional exuberance of a Charismatic meeting, which can demonstrate such gifts of the Holy Spirit as prophecy, faith healing and speaking in tongues. Advocates believe this is simply the workings of the Holy Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit has been “blamed” for a number of innovations in the Catholic Church — from the creation of Eucharistic Ministers, Communion-in-hand, liturgical dancers, Argentine puppet Masses, altar girls, to the movement for women priests and deacons.
Advertisements for the 2019 Philadelphia Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference had the look of an old-time southern revival. The ad was printed in big bold letters in the style of Big Tent evangelism.
Passages from Scripture were arranged around information surrounding the event:
A beautiful woman showing off her million-dollar tan and bright shiny dental veneers was listed as the guest speaker. She wasn’t just ‘anybody’ but someone who was “baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1957” (as if her first Baptism wasn’t enough). The woman, so the ad stated, “is committed to making Jesus known to the Nations by the preaching of the Gospel in the Power of the Holy Spirit.”
As Karl Keating, in a 2017 article on the Catholic charismatic movement, wrote in ‘Catholic Answers’:
“The Catholic variant of charismaticism dates from 1967. It began at Duquesne University, spread to Notre Dame, and then went viral, as the current saying has it. A Belgian cardinal, Leo Suenens, was an early patron. Pope Paul VI, while a charismatic event was in progress in Rome, said some positive things about the movement’s emphasis on “communion of souls” and its promotion of prayer. Later, John Paul II encouraged Catholic charismatics to defend the Christian notion of social life against inroads by secularism.”
“The popes,” Keating continues, “never endorsed the notion of a “Baptism in the Spirit,” nor did they speak in favor of glossolalia, or speaking in tongues.”
As many traditional Christians know, speaking in tongues was a singular event at Pentecost. It had everything to do with the early apostles and disciples with a knowledge of foreign languages so they could go out into the world, and had nothing to do with rolling around on the floor in a fever pitch. In fact, the contemporary concept of “speaking in tongues” (shaking your body with upraised hands) was virtually unknown throughout most of Christianity until 1830. That’s when a certain excitable Scottish Presbyterian minister, Edward Irving, manufactured its appearance “through his enthusiastic preaching.”
Keating concludes: “After that, speaking in tongues died down until the turn of the twentieth century with the rise of the modern Pentecostal movement. There were no Catholic examples of it until two-thirds of a century later.”
Yet this didn’t stop a redemptorist brother, Brother Pancratius Boudreau (Joseph Andrew Boudreau), from starting the Catholic Charismatic Movement in the late 1960s.
After Vatican II, many Catholics in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia were hooting and hollering like Big Ten evangelicals. The era of ‘quietly saying the rosary’ was seen as retrograde and Protestant-unfriendly. Although creeping Pentecostalism existed in mostly isolated parishes with special Masses, elements of the Charismatic movement began to seep into heretofore dignified parishes.
That’s when one spotted people at Mass praying the Lord’ Prayer in Orans fashion, while others took to holding hands with fellow parishioners. Some lay people — convinced that they had special spiritual gifts — would lay their hands on the heads of fellow parishioners.
Call it a full-fledged revival along the lines of Jim and Tammy Bakker.
On the heels of the charismatic movement came the Cursillo movement, founded in Spain in 1944 as a way to bring Spanish men back to the Church.
The Cursillo retreat was really the Catholic version of EST (Erhard Seminars Training, a quasi-religious therapy program founded in 1971 by Werner Erhard). The Cursillo 3-day retreat emphasized non-stop group activity with little or no solitude. Criticisms of the Cursillo movement by traditionalists pointed to “in group secrets” and instructions. Some former Cursillo devotees have even compared it to a cult, the Catholic version of Freemasonry.
The two founders of Cursillo, Eduardo Bonnin and Bishop Juan Hervas, saw their movement transported to the United States in 1957, although Cursillo hit its stride in the states in the 1970s in conjunction with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement. The two movements might be said to have produced a “new” type of Catholicism: the “Jesus Saves” hand clapping “let’s get emotional” school, and the so called Masonic “secret society” of Cursillo, which started out as a movement exclusively for men but which, falling victim to secular culture and the demands of feminists, went on.
Moving forward, the question of female deacons will be discussed at the upcoming Synod of Bishops in Rome in October 2024. (Cardinal George Pell has called the Synod on Synodalty a “toxic nightmare couched in a neo-Marxist message.” )
While many observers believe that the idea of a female deaconate in the Church will be approved, it is doubtful whether the new office, once established, will follow the tradition of so-called women deacons in the early Eastern Church, who had no liturgical function whatsoever but were primarily assigned on an ad hoc basis to care for women catechuems about to be baptized.
Yet as the Catholic Church becomes increasingly woke and reflective of the modern age, Catholic feminists and their male counterparts won’t be happy with a Baptism-oriented only female Deaconate, but will insist that female deacons, in a break with tradition, get to do everything that their male counterparts do: assist priests and bishops at Mass, baptize, proclaim the Gospel and assist at the altar.
The Roman Church’s obsessive desire to update its liturgy, doctrines, and beliefs while promoting climate, gender and transgender ideology — as if the latter were necessary for salvation — goes against the teachings of Saint Paul, who said that the Church must be a countercultural force.
The Church has to be a force against the modernism of this world, and it should not, as many have said, marry the spirit of the age. If there’s no difference between the world and the Church, this would be a mark that the Church has lost its spiritual dimension.
Of course, the radical handwriting was on the wall when Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the Cardinal-Archbishop of Buenos Aires, was elected to the papacy in 2013.
At his first address to the crowds in St. Peter’s Square as Francis I, he had refused to wear the papal mozzetta. This seemingly small break with tradition was the first red flag signaling that the new pope was a liturgical modernist.
Years later, in January 2021, Pope Francis called for open borders when he wrote that nations had an obligation “to welcome, promote, protect, and integrate those who come in search of better lives for themselves and their families.”

This was a glimpse into the muddled mind of a leftist. The Mona Lisa has graced the world with its presence since the sixteenth century. When Leonardo da Vinci first painted it, he did not deny anyone the right to healthy and sustainable food by doing so. Nor does the renowned painting’s continued existence impoverish or starve anyone. And our agricultural system is indeed sick, not because of greedy capitalists heating up the planet, but because (for one thing) of socialist internationalists (like those of Riposte Alimentaire) who are forcing the closure of farms in Germany and the Netherlands, and destroying the livelihood of the farmers, in the name of climate action.
Nevertheless, despite their proclamation making no sense at all, they then proceeded to douse the protective glass that prevents terrorists like them from damaging the Mona Lisa with soup. But Riposte Alimentaire isn’t even alone in employing this lunatic tactic. Back in Oct. 2022, purple-haired climate doom fanatics from a group called Just Stop Oil threw tomato soup onto Vincent Van Gogh’s famed Sunflowers painting in the National Gallery in London, because it’s an oil painting. Really. That same month, activists hurled mashed potatoes at Claude Monet’s Haystacks in the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany, before they glued their hands to the wall and settled in for a long day of climate hectoring, mythology, propaganda, and sloganeering. The Mosa Lisa has also been attacked before by a nut who smeared its protective glass with cake in May 2022.
It’s an annoying and stupid form of protest. Couldn’t all this soup (and mashed potatoes and cake) have gone to feed the starving people for which these leftists are supposedly agitating? In any case, there is going to be a lot more of it, and worse. One principal reason why this is so is that as this self-righteous and ignorant vandalism continues, authorities do little or nothing to stop it. At the Louvre on Sunday, all that museum security officials did was put black screens between the Riposte Alimentaire soup-throwers and the aghast museum visitors, who were then evacuated.

Authorities are likely hesitant to act because they are essentially just as far to the left as the climate protesters. Riposte Alimentaire demanded the integration of "food into the general social security system," and an end to an economic system that "stigmatizes the most precarious and does not respect our fundamental right to food." They want the French government to give citizens (and almost certainly non-citizens as well) $162 a month for food, with no strings attached. Whether you work or don’t work, whether you’re productive or not, no matter what, you’ll get $162 for food. Who will have to pay for this? Riposte Alimentaire was too busy throwing soup to explain that.
Despite their clear sympathy for the protesters, museums are likely to begin to institute more effective security measures. Then, however, the protesters are likely to up the ante as well. When they see that juvenile stunts in museums aren’t bringing the world back from the brink of the climate apocalypse they’ve been skillfully led to believe is on the horizon, they’re not going to stand down or reexamine their false premises. Instead, they’ll move from perpetrating what looks to be harmless pranks against artistic masterpieces to destroying them. On the one hand, leftists are tearing down statues of military and political heroes because of racism and other deviations from their political line. And meanwhile, they’re also targeting non-political artistic masterpieces to issue their lunatic calls for the implementation of socialism, a political ideology that has all too often been spectacularly oppressive and failed to bring economic justice.
Will the world’s artistic patrimony survive this madness relatively unscathed? We can hope.

That noxious Swedish brat Greta Thunberg, the well-known “climate activist” who has received far too much adoring attention, allowing her to think that she will singlehandedly save the world if only the world has the good sense to listen to her, has now turned twenty. She is not at all “sweet and twenty,” but as unpleasant as they come. She’s recently added another arrow to her quiver: it’s “Palestine” she pines for. It’s Hamas that has caught her fancy, it’s those terrible Israelis she feels a deep need to denounce. “The final outcome of #COP28 is not a ‘historic win,'” Thunberg tweeted. “It is yet another example of extremely vague and watered-down texts full of loopholes” that won’t solve the problem.
The climate problem is not to be “solved.” It is, rather, a situation that can be ameliorated. That is a different thing. It’s like the jihad being conducted by the Palestinians against Israel. That jihad cannot be “solved” as long as Islam exists, but nonetheless, a modus vivendi can be achieved with the Arabs if Israel remains overwhelmingly, and obviously, more powerful militarily than its enemies. That’s called deterrence, and it worked well during the Cold War.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg once again fused the Palestinian cause with the climate change movement as she participated in her weekly “Fridays for Future” protest outside parliament in Stockholm on December 15.
During the demonstration, she prominently displayed a Palestinian flag and held a “Free Palestine” sign – a photo of which she uploaded to her personal X account while bashing the Conference of the Parties (COP28) climate deal. She also proclaimed that the world will be “transitioning away from fossil fuels” to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
It’s mix-n’-match in Greta Thunberg’s overheated brain. She’s holding up the latest in vexillogical fashion — the flag of a future Palestinian state that, its supporters around the world fondly believe, will replace the Jewish state “from the river to the sea” with a twenty-third Arab one. At the same time, she continues to deplore the failure, as she sees it, of the meeting in Dubai of COP28.
Dr. Sultan al-Jaber was the president of COP28. He is the UAE’s environment minister, and he is also the CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). Many were up in arms that someone so connected to the oil industry should have been the head of the conference, especially when they discovered that before the conference began he had said in an online event on Nov. 21 that “there is no science out there, or no scenario out there, that says the phase-out of fossil fuel is what’s going to achieve 1.5 [a rise in global temperature of 1.5 degrees].” Furthermore, he added, “it would be impossible to stop burning fossil fuels and sustain economic development, “unless you want to take the world back into caves.”
The Arab oil states were the spoilers at COP28. Just before COP28 began, the Arab oil states had held their own meeting in Doha, Qatar, where they passed a resolution essentially saying that “oil is here to stay.” And when they went to Dubai, they were determined to keep any language calling for an end to fossil fuels out of the final document. It was a battle royal, and in the end the Arabs decided to yield, just a little, so great was the clamor against them, by allowing “fossil fuels” to be mentioned, but making sure that the language about reducing their use was both vague and weak. In the Global Stocktake COP28, the parties agreed to “transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems in a just, orderly and equitable manner, accelerating action in this critical decade, so as to achieve net zero by 2050.” There’s plenty of room to maneuver in that call for a “transition…in a just, orderly, and equitable manner.” No binding commitments were made by individual countries to lower their carbon emissions by a set amount.
What Saudi Arabia think is a “just orderly, and equitable manner” of transition away from fossil fuels will be very different from what the U.K., or France, or India might think. The Saudis, Emiratis, and Kuwaitis will do everything they can to throw a spanner in the works, so determined are they to sell every last barrel of oil they have in the ground. No one wants to be left holding billions of barrels in a world that has completely “transitioned” to solar, wind, hydropower, and nuclear energy.

Here is the most incendiary portion of his comments:
Without facts or economics on their side, they flatly deny what is happening to our planet and what we must do to save it. They incite a movement against what they falsely label ‘climate change fanaticism,’ as they conveniently forget that the dictionary definition of a cult is the dismissal of facts in devotion to a lie.
This is an obvious truism at this point, but, of course, I would be remiss not to point out that these people always do what they accuse their opponents of doing. Freud got it right. From the Hunter Biden laptop hoax to the “safe and effective” COVID vax lie, lying in the service of their various profiteering and social engineering projects is their modus operandi. Climate change is no exception.

Continuing with what is essentially Kerry’s declaration of war on “climate change” deniers (emphasis added):
And while they refuse to accept the facts behind increasingly obvious damages, which the First Minister listed, they lash out at the truth-tellers instead, and label indisputable evidence as hysteria. They compound the already difficult challenge of the climate crisis, by promising to do more of exactly what created this crisis in the first place. So now, humanity is inexorably threatened by humanity itself, by those seducing people into buying into a completely fictitious, alternative reality, where we don’t need to act and we don’t even need to care.
Let’s take the phrase “inexorably threatened” and parse it a bit. Per Merriam-Webster, “inexorable” means “not to be persuaded, moved, or stopped.” What he’s saying — the reason his handlers chose that descriptor — is that there is no longer any need to try to persuade the public of their climate change scam because the “deniers” are individuals who cannot be reasoned with. On a societal level, what does one do with an existential threat that cannot be reasoned with because words are meaningless to it? One goes to war with it.
Humanity, for the record, is, in fact, inexorably threatened by humanity itself in a very real and meaningful sense, but the threat is posed not by “climate change” deniers but by technocrats like John Kerry (assuming he is actually human and not a demonic entity wearing a skinsuit).

Hawaiian officials say that 850 individuals are still missing following the catastrophic Lahaina fires, according to data obtained by the FBI and local police as of Monday morning.
Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen stated in a social media video that 114 people have been confirmed dead, 27 have been identified, and at least 11 families have been contacted.
Although more than 800 are still missing, the number had initially been estimated at well over 1,500.
“To the tireless work of the FBI and the Maui Police Department, 1,285 individuals have been located safe,” Bissen said. “We are both saddened and relieved about these numbers as we continue the recovery process.”
Bissen stated that these figures will fluctuate on a daily basis, and he requested that anyone who has close family members who are missing as a result of the fire send DNA samples in order to assist in the identification process.
Locals can offer such samples at a Family Assistance Center set up at the Hyatt Regency Ka’anapali on Nohea Kai Drive.
The Maui County Mayor is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday to answer questions from the public.
“Our lives have changed forever, and things will not be the same,” he said. “What will be the same is the way we care for each other as we grieve and go through this together.”
The fast-moving flames devastated Maui this month, with the ancient town of Lahaina bearing the brunt of the damage. The town was entirely destroyed with over 2,700 structures demolished.
Some locals and visitors even ran into the ocean to escape the fiery hellscape, while others attempted to flee on foot or by vehicle.
Bissen was also questioned by reporters about how many children are currently missing due to the disaster, but he failed to find a response or reason for why Hawaiian officials did not have an estimate.

His administration has been chastised by a number of officials and local Hawaiians for choosing to vacation with family rather than respond to the crisis in a quick manner.

Climate Change Didn’t Cause the Maui Fires, Environmentalists Did
Instead of preparing for wildfires, Hawaii was busy going "green."

Politicians, the media and environmentalists spent the past week blaming the Maui fires on global warming.
“That level of destruction, and a fire hurricane, something new to us in this age of global warming, was the ultimate reason that so many people perished,” Hawaii Gov. Joshua Green claimed, while ignoring his state’s mismanagement of the disaster and its botched response at every level from the power grid that wasn’t secured to the sirens that didn’t go off.
Winds whipping up a fire isn’t some exciting new disaster, it’s how things have always worked in Hawaii where about 0.5% of Hawaii’s land burns every year. The worst previous Maui fire in 2010 was fed by 40 mph winds. This time the winds hit 67 mph. The bad timing of an electrical disaster with high winds, not ‘global warming’ made for something old, not new.
But the ultimate reason so many people perished is that Hawaii government officials failed in their responsibilities toward the residents and tourists they had been milking all these years.
And, conveniently, decided to blame global warming instead of taking responsibility.
Hawaii’s Sen. Mazie Hirono told CNN that “We very much need to acknowledge that climate change is upon us,” urging the heathen to repent and bow to the exciting new apocalypse.
And the global warming circus and its endless scams was just getting started.
The board chair of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs blamed the fires on the “climate crisis” and “colonialism”. Bloomberg ran an op-ed titled ‘Maui Fires Show Climate Change’s Ugly Reach’.
‘Fire and Fury: The Story of the 2023 Maui Fire and its Implications for Climate Change,’ a book written a few days into the wildfires, shot up the Amazon bestseller list. Its author, ‘Dr. Miles Stones’ appears to have been made up. But, then again, so was global warming.
A security camera captured what started the fires, and it wasn’t ‘climate change’.
A tree fell on a power line, there was an arc flash, a drop in power, and the fires began. The sirens didn’t go off and the water wasn’t released in time to properly fight the fires. None of those things had anything to do with a changing climate, but with ideological mismanagement.
But if a tree falls and no one is around to see it, politicians will blame global warming.
Hawaiian Electric claims to be the “most progressive and forward-thinking energy company in the world” whose mission was to “act with boldness and urgency, without fear of failure” to “build a sustainable Hawaii”. The massive devastation in Maui is proof of its accomplishments.
The progressive energy company was aware that there were serious wildfire risks, but instead, it prioritized green energy programs. It failed to shut off the power in time and its trucks ended up blocking evacuation routes. But at least “the company’s focus on equity includes approaching everything we do with an equitable lens” meant that people burned to death equitably.
Given a choice between the unglamorous business of preventing wildfires or going green, Hawaiian Electric picked the option that was sure to win praise from politicians and environmentalists. Solar panels replaced actual power plants and customers were lectured incessantly about global warming and the environmental stewardship of the company.
Hawaiian Electric CEO Shelee Kimura received environmental awards and boasted of having grown the state’s “clean energy resources”’ and worked to “decarbonize Hawaii’s economy”.
The over 100 dead people have been carbonized now.
The Maui Emergency Management Agency didn’t sound the sirens to warn people to evacuate but its hazard mitigation plan was focused on fighting “climate change”.
As the fires burned, a Hawaii water official blocked the release of the water. The official, Kaleo Manuel, an alumnus of the Obama Asia Pacific Leaders program, believes “that ancient wisdom and traditional ecological knowledge of native peoples will help save the Earth.”
Coming to his defense was Earthjustice, originally spun off from the defense lawyers for the environmentalist extremists of the Sierra Club.
While the scale of the fires has attracted attention, they’re not a new phenomenon. .
When the Polynesian colonists, now popularly described as “indigenous” first arrived, they slashed and burned much of the existing grasslands, wiping out whatever existed including the original population, which was killed, eaten, or enslaved. The actual indigenous people of Hawaii were born as slaves, had their foreheads tattooed, and were used for human sacrifice.
Some of the leftist descendants of the colonists, heavily intermarried with Westerners, have carved out an economic niche denouncing “Western colonialism” and upholding “native ways” which usually involve getting an academic or bureaucratic position and pretentiously using Hawaiian terms while bemoaning the utopia that Hawaii could have been without America.
These sorts of activists, collaborating with environmentalists, helped to cause a disaster on Maui, much as their counterparts recently did in Puerto Rico by mismanaging the infrastructure, failing at their most basic responsibilities, and then blaming Western technology for the mess.
Hawaii’s feudal nobles believed that they were descended from the gods, and its new nobility claims to be descended from the oppressed victims of colonialism and technology. They denounce the plantations and champion “native ways of growing crops” which would be unable to support their own population, never mind anyone else, and which aren’t native to Hawaii, but were brought over by their ancestors. Hawaii’s plants are more fire resistant, not because they’re superior to western agriculture, but because they had to survive the Polynesian colonizing wave of arsons.
If professional indigenous activists are really sincere, they’ll get rid of all the technology and live the way their ancestors did without smartphones, the internet, antibiotics, or indoor plumbing. Since that isn’t happening, maybe they can try to manage the technology responsibly instead of allying with leftist environmentalists to undermine the state’s infrastructure.
Climate change and colonialism didn’t cause the Maui wildfires. Environmentalists did.
It’s no coincidence that California and Hawaii were both devastated by preventable disasters. Both one-party states ignored responsible wildfire prevention policies and instead adopted the fashionable dogma that every natural disaster is caused by global warming and that the only way to head off natural disasters is by putting up solar panels and condemning technology.
These environmental policies cost human lives, homes, and billions of dollars. In response to disasters caused by their neglect of infrastructure and disaster management due to their belief in global warming, the climate cult blames the resulting catastrophe on global warming.
From Hawaii’s governor on down, global warming is an excuse for corruption and incompetence. Global warming isn’t a problem, those who believe in it are.

Old Joe Biden and his sinister handlers are doing just what they threatened to do. On July 5, 2020, Old Joe’s Twitter ghostwriter tweeted: “We’re going to beat Donald Trump. And when we do, we won’t just rebuild this nation — we’ll transform it.” They have done so. They have transformed the nation that was once known as the leader of the free world into a crime-ridden, open-borders free-for-all where opponents of the regime are arrested on bogus charges. Meanwhile, there seems to be nothing that Biden’s handlers won’t do in order to torment Americans and fill their lives with petty annoyances: now they are banning incandescent light bulbs. What’s next? FBI agents standing on street corners and poking us with sharp sticks?
Fox News reported Saturday that Biden and his henchmen are “preparing to implement a sweeping nationwide ban on commonly used light bulbs as part of its energy efficiency and climate agenda.” Yes, the nation is going to go dark because of a hysterical junk science myth. “No credible scientific body,” wrote energy and environmental researcher Michael Shellenberger in 2019, “has ever said climate change threatens the collapse of civilization, much less the extinction of the human species.” In fact, the whole idea that temperatures are rising to catastrophic levels is based on circular reasoning. But the Biden regime is all in on the climate change myth, and as always, ordinary Americans are the ones who have to pay the price.
You may recall that we have been here before. Barack Obama banned incandescent light bulbs, and the Trump administration rolled back that ban in Sept. 2019. Fox notes that the Department of Energy (DOE) devised the new restrictions to reverse Trump’s action back in April 2022, meanwhile, and adds that Trump himself “was also personally opposed to LED light bulb adoption, remarking in 2019 that they are often more expensive, not good and make him ‘look orange.’” Ah, so that’s it! How can we all properly hate the Left’s Emmanuel Goldstein if we keep seeing him in lighting that doesn’t show him as Bad Orange Man?
The new rules go into effect on Aug. 1, so you still have some time to stock up on good light bulbs, if you can find any. According to Fox, the DOE “will begin full enforcement of the ban on that date, but it has already urged retailers to begin transitioning away from the light bulb type and, in recent months, begun issuing warning notices to companies.” The way the Biden regime is going, if a store is selling incandescent light bulbs after Aug. 1, watch for ATF or FBI agents to come bursting through the door, armed to the teeth, pointing their guns at dumbfounded, slack-jawed clerks and screaming: “Throw down your light bulb and back away from the cash register!”
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm assures us that all this petty authoritarianism is for our own good: “The lighting industry is already embracing more energy-efficient products, and this measure will accelerate progress to deliver the best products to American consumers and build a better and brighter future.” Yeah, authoritarian socialist regimes that arrest their political opponents are always building toward a better future, but it never seems to arrive. Journalist Mindy Robinson tweeted Sunday: “They can make lightbulbs that would last longer than I’ll be alive…but they won’t do it because ‘repeat business.’ Now this tyrannical regime wants to ban incandescents and push LEDs…which are garbage, distort colors, and give people like me headaches.”

Rising gas prices, rising food prices, rising crime, and now enforced harsh lighting in order to feed the regime’s climate fantasies. Are Biden’s handlers intentionally trying to annoy the American people? If they actually had that as a goal, would they be doing anything different from what they’re doing now? It is a constant of history: the Leftist regimes that are the most inhuman and inflict the most suffering upon their own citizens are those that most loudly proclaim how dedicated they are to the welfare of the people and how humane and democratic they are.
That’s why the Soviet Union was the workers’ paradise and the appalling hellscape that North Korea calls itself the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Biden’s America is not quite that far along yet; we just have the corrupt and authoritarian kleptocrats in Washington constantly nattering at us about how they’re saving “our democracy.” Sure they are. That’s why they’re nodding in approval as the leading critic of the regime is arrested on charges that wouldn’t have gotten anyone else arrested. If you didn’t know that God was in favor of socialism, junk science, and internationalist economic suicide in favor of the People’s Republic of China, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Absolut) is here to get you back on the straight and narrow path, o ye of little faith. On Thursday, the great lawmaker explained why she supported spending $550 billion to fight climate change, despite the fact that it has not been conclusively proven that it is manmade and can be solved by confiscating more money from beleaguered taxpayers. For Pelosi, it’s a matter of being true to her faith: God wants her to support the globalist Left’s climate agenda.
“For me,” said Pelosi, “it’s a religious thing. I believe this is God’s creation, and we have a moral obligation to be good stewards. If you don’t share that view, you must share the view that we have an obligation to future generations,” Pelosi said.
In quoting the Sage of San Francisco’s words on this, Yahoo News reminded us that Pelosi “is a practicing Catholic.” But that’s just more red meat for the blue rubes, who can confront their Christian friends and relatives who have not shown proper respect for Gaia with the “devout” Catholicism of President Dementia and Speaker Vodka. Pelosi’s real religion is not Catholicism, but Leftism, which is ostensibly merely a political philosophy but has shown signs recently of becoming a quasi-religious cult.
Certainly, for Pelosi, the Left’s causes are a holy crusade. She showed this last April when she addressed the deceased George Floyd as if he were a new Jesus, thanking him for “sacrificing your life for justice.” This neatly revealed Pelosi’s actual creed: racism, or whiteness, is the original sin, which manifests itself in all sorts of “systemic” ways, most notably in the alleged police double standard for blacks and whites.
George Floyd, in Pelosi’s vision, sacrificed himself just as Jesus did, in order to bring us the salvation of racial justice. In Christian thought, Jesus submitted to death in order to destroy it and enable human beings to enjoy eternal life; now George Floyd submitted to racism and police brutality in order to destroy them and enable Americans to enjoy relief from the alleged systemic racism that supposedly plagues our society.

The fact that Pelosi wears Catholicism more for its political value than as an actual guiding life philosophy is also made clear by the contempt she has shown for it in other contexts. God supposedly wants us to deep-six internal combustion engines and surrender economically to China, and devout Pelosi listens and obeys. But when her Church tells her that abortion is wrong, she not only doesn’t listen but actually has the gall to invoke her religion while justifying her pro-abortion stance.
In July, when asked why she opposed a bill to prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions, Pelosi explained: “Because it’s an issue of health of many women in America, especially those in lower-income situations and in different states. And it is something that has been a priority for many of us for a long time. As a devout Catholic and mother of five in six years, I feel that God blessed my husband and me with our beautiful family — five children in six years, almost to the day. But it’s not up to me to dictate that that’s what other people should do. And it’s an issue of fairness and justice for poor women in our country.”
She reiterated the same talking points in September, saying: “Yeah, I’m Catholic. I come from a pro-life family. Not active in that regard. Different in their view of a woman’s right to choose than I am. In my right to choose, I had five children in six years and one week. And I keep saying to people who say things like that when you have five children in six years and one day, we can talk about what business it is of any of us to tell anyone else to do. For us, it was a complete and total blessing, which we enjoy every day of our lives. But it is none of our business how other people choose the size and timing of their families. My, the, — the archbishop of the city — that area of San Francisco — and I have a disagreement about who should decide this. I believe that God has given us a free will to honor our responsibilities.”
All right. So it’s not up to Pelosi to dictate what other people should do with regard to abortion, even though she had five children “as a devout Catholic.” But when God tells her to shell out over half a trillion dollars of taxpayer money on a self-defeating, America-Last climate agenda, she has no problem whatsoever disregarding free will and dictating what other people should do.
Pelosi’s inconsistency becomes perfectly clear when one realizes that she isn’t really a Catholic at all, but a worshipper of Gaia. And Gaia now must be appeased, to the tune of $550 billion. Who are we mere mortals to deny the High Priestess her ability to offer a fitting sacrifice to her god?

Is modern American Leftism a new, secular religion? Of course, it is. Who could forget House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Grey Goose) giving thanks to her god for his salvific sacrifice: “Thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice”? Or New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D-Planned Parenthood) proclaiming that the unvaccinated “aren’t listening to God and what God wants.” And now the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which has long been a hollowed-out shell teaching social justice Leftism in vaguely Christian garb, has done its part for the sanctification of the contemporary Leftist agenda by publishing a new hymn, “The Climate is Changing.” The lyrics are far more ludicrous than the title might suggest.
Presbyterian News Service reported Friday that the hymn was prepared for the opening of the UN Climate Change Conference on Sunday in Glasgow. Apparently the assembled dignitaries, after working hard all day on strategies to compel the U.S. and Western Europe to commit economic suicide and hand global financial hegemony to China on a silver platter, will be in the mood to belt out a rousing hymn about saving Gaia. The pious Presbyterians were happy to oblige.
“The Climate is Changing” is helpfully written to a tune that many of the conference participants will find familiar: “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise,” an enduringly popular nineteenth-century hymn that begins: “Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible, hid from our eyes, most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.”
Now, this is the twenty-first century, and all that patriarchal business about a wise, omnipotent, glorious God is as dated as porkpie hats and the notion that there are only two genders. “The Climate is Changing,” which was written by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette, co-pastor with her husband, Bruce, of First Presbyterian Union Church in Oswego, New York, is much more up-to-date. Here are the first two verses, in all their virtue-signaling pseudo-Christian glory:
The climate is changing! Creation cries out!
Your people face flooding and fire and drought.
We see the great heat waves and storms at their worst.
We pray for the poor, Lord — for they suffer first.
We pray for the animals here in our midst
who cannot defend their own right to exist.

You get the idea. The lyrics do make a cursory nod toward the old religion: the fifth (yes) verse begins by reminding God: “You love this good Earth, and you sent us your Son!” If you don’t recall Jesus saying much about the necessity to reduce greenhouse emissions, but only in the West while giving China a free hand to pollute as much as it wants while turning the world into its personal economic fiefdom, Bruce Gillette, the husband of the holy hymnographer, might want to have a few words with you. “We all need to be doing more to counter the crisis ASAP,” said Bruce, who is also (surprise!) vice-moderator of Presbyterians for Earth Care. “Prayer (spoken and sung) needs to be the basis for Christian action. We hope this new hymn helps churches in their worship and action.”

It probably will, because the Gillettes are by no means alone in pretending that climate change, which rests upon numerous unproven and hysterical assumptions, is a foremost Gospel imperative. Just as the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was bequeathing “The Climate is Changing” to the world, Old Joe Biden was over in Rome chatting up Pope Francis; according to the White House, Old Joe “lauded Pope Francis’ leadership in fighting the climate crisis.” And with good reason: on Thursday, the Pontiff recorded a message for the BBC in which he made it clear that he wasn’t going to brook any dissent from his climate change agenda on the basis of the idea that maybe it’s not such a good idea, much less a Gospel imperative, to impoverish and weaken one’s own nation in favor of a predatory foe. “We can confront these crises by retreating into isolationism, protectionism and exploitation,” said the woke Popescold, “or we can see in them a real chance for change.”
Nor is Pope Francis by any means alone. Top-level clergy of virtually all Christian denominations, as well as numerous non-Christian religious leaders, have agreed that tackling climate change is our foremost duty in this age. And now we can sit around the campfire, roast up some marshmallows, and sing about it as well, thanks to Carolyn Winfrey Gillette. We need a few more hymns for our new religion, though. Maybe Gillette can give us “O Little Town of Climate Change” next, or “What A Friend We Have In Gaia.” In the meantime, maybe if we sing enough choruses of “The Climate is Changing” with sufficient heartfelt sincerity, Gaia will turn away Her wrath and once again smile upon us and accept our offerings.
But, of course, then we have all that systemic racism to atone for. Whatever form the Left’s new religion eventually takes, it is certain to be exhausting.

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden made numerous, outrageous, fact-void statements during the virtual “Leaders Summit on Climate” Thursday.
Without evidence of any such thing, Harris claimed that man-made global warming (or is it climate change?) is responsible for worsening storms along the Gulf Coast and California wildfires.
Further, the red diaper baby inexplicably declared:
The communities hardest hit by climate change are the same communities harmed by wealth and gender inequality, toxic air pollution, and so much more.
Imagine if the mainstream media would scratch just a hair below the surface to challenge these ridiculous statements. Are there areas hit hard by “gender inequality”? And why would those areas be more likely to be victims of climate change?
Biden’s inane comments offered no reprieve. He droned on about “investments” in green energy, echoing the same failed policies from the Obama Administration. Further, he warned that the world must take immediate action to “avoid the worst consequences of a climate crisis.”
He said in part:
Scientists tell us that this is the decisive decade. This is the decade we must make decisions that will avoid the worst consequences of a climate crisis. We must try to keep the Earth’s temperature and — to an increase of — to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
And in order to stop disastrous consequences of manmade global warming, evidently, all citizens need to accept a global redistribution of wealth. This author wonders how many decades need to go by before democrats stop believing the “climate crisis” lie. All citizens of goodwill and elected representatives must start loudly challenging climate alarmism.

Twelve States Sue Biden Administration Over Executive Order on Climate Change

A coalition of 12 states filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court of Eastern Missouri against President Joe Biden and several members of his administrations on Monday. The suit claims that Biden and his administration have taken upon themselves the “unilateral power to dictate specific values for the ‘social costs’ of greenhouse gases in virtually every regulatory program administered by the federal government.”
The suit challenges Biden’s Executive Order on Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis, which was signed on Inauguration Day. Among the many dictates in the order, it requires that a “working group” be convened to assess the “social costs” of carbon and greenhouse gases, which are meant to account monetarily for the alleged risks involved in climate change.
And that “working group” has been busy already, assigning those monetary “social costs,” which number in the trillions.
Although the suit doesn’t reference it, the executive order in question is also the same one Biden used to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline, which ended the jobs of more than 11,000 Americans.
The suit alleges that Biden and his administration have usurped the role of the legislature in assessing monetary values for the possible role of human-generated greenhouse gases and the role they may play in predicted climate disasters of the future. According to the lawsuit: “Assigning such values is a quintessentially legislative action that falls within Congress’s exclusive authority under Article 1 of the Constitution.”
The suit accuses Biden and the other defendants of violating the separation of powers; violating agency statutes, specifically the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); violating the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) including a substantive violation of the APA.
The suit is being led by the State of Missouri and its Attorney General Eric Schmitt. Also included are state attorneys general from Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah.
“Manufacturing, agriculture, and energy production are essential to Missouri’s economy and employ thousands of hard-working Missourians across the state. Under President Biden’s executive order, which he didn’t have the authority to enact, these hard-working Missourians who have lived [on] and worked this land for generations could be left in the dust,” said Schmitt. “From higher energy bills to lost jobs, this massive extension of federal regulator power has the potential to impact nearly every household in this state — that’s why today I’m leading a coalition of states to put a stop to this executive order and protect Missouri families.
The suit cites the results of the “Working Group’s” first preliminary report, which was released in February, as to the type of “social costs” we can expect from them in the future.
The suit notes that if rates of emissions of greenhouse gases are similar in the future to those of 2019, the “social costs” as determined by Biden’s “working group” for 2020 could amount to approximately $269 billion for carbon dioxide; $990 billion for methane and $8.24 trillion for nitrous oxide.
“Collectively, using the Working Group’s values at the principal discount rate of 3 percent, the collective social costs of all three gases in 2020 would be approximately $9.5 trillion. This number gives some idea of the magnitude of the regulatory costs on the American economy that the Interim Values would justify,” the suit reads.
The suit continues: “The potential regulatory impact is enormous. These numbers are high enough to justify massive increases in regulatory restrictions in agricultural practices, energy production, energy use, or any other economic activity that results in the emission of such gases.”
The suit further claims that Biden’s executive order will “destroy jobs, stifle energy production, strangle America’s energy independence, suppress agriculture, deter innovation, and impoverish working families.” Further, “It undermines the sovereignty of the States and tears at the fabric of liberty.”
Besides Biden, other defendants named in the suit include Secretary of Transportation and Biden campaign rival Pete Buttigieg; Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack; Acting Secretary of the Interior Scott de la Vega and the Interagency Working Group of Social Costs of Greenhouse Gases itself.
The suit asks the court to grant permanent and injunctive relief against Biden and the other defendants and essentially nullify any of the Working Group’s findings.

Pope Francis is warning that the Earth could be facing a second great flood — similar to the one that Noah and his family faced — should planetary leaders not quickly address “injustice” and the scourge of anthropogenic global warming. The pontiff made the remarks in a new book titled Of Vices and Virtues by Don Marco Pozza, the chaplain of the Padua prison.
The book — basically a book-length interview with Pope Francis — was released on March 2 in Italian by Rizzoli Publishers. An excerpt was published on Sunday in Corriere Della Sera, an Italian newspaper.
“A great deluge, perhaps due to a rise in temperature and the melting of the glaciers: what will happen now if we continue on the same path,” Pope Francis said.
The Pope made the remark while speaking on the much broader topic of God’s wrath against evil and injustice.
“God’s wrath is against injustice, against Satan. It is directed against evil, not that which derives from human weakness, but evil of Satanic inspiration: the corruption generated by Satan, behind which single men, single women, entire societies go. God’s wrath is meant to bring justice, ‘clean up,’” the 84-year-old Francis said.
“The flood is a result of God’s wrath,” the Pope continued. “He is a figure of God’s wrath, who according to the Bible has seen too many bad things and decides to obliterate humanity. The biblical [flood], according to experts, is a mythical tale. (Now I hope someone doesn’t argue that the Pope said the Bible is a myth!) But myth is a form of knowledge. The flood is a historical tale, archaeologists say, because they found traces of a flood in their excavations.”
“The story of Noah shows that God’s wrath is also a savior,” Francis concluded.
The excerpt also included Francis’s thoughts on prudence in government, saying that “prudence is an essential virtue for those who govern.” The Pope also spoke about faith and doubt in the lives of Christians.
The release of these papal remarks comes in advance of the Pope’s visit to Iraq this week. It is the first papal visit to any country since the COVID-19 pandemic began and is believed to be the first visit by any pope to a Middle Eastern country besides Israel.
It is hoped that the visit will bolster the Christian population of the region, which had suffered so terribly under ISIS rule. Christians still find themselves under attack by Islamic extremists in the region.
The trip will include a meeting between Francis and the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, the spiritual leader of Iraqi Shia Muslims. Open Doors, which maintains a world watchlist of Christian persecution, currently lists Iraq as the 11th most dangerous country for Christians.
Hopefully, the Pope can use his influence to make some inroads in Iraq about the treatment of Christians there.
But he may wish to study the Great Flood a little more.
Pope Francis describes the evil events preceding the flood accurately enough. Genesis 6:5 says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thought of his heart was only evil continually.”
We all know the story. Noah alone was found righteous by God; the ark was built and the flood destroyed everything but Noah, his family, and the animals on the Ark. God’s wrath fulfilled, just as Francis described.
But there was more to it than that. After the flood receded and Noah and his family got to work rebuilding the world, God made a covenant with Noah and his descendants. Among God’s promises: “And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there be any more a flood to destroy the earth.” — Genesis 9:11.

In times past, the question, “Is the Pope Catholic?” has been a sarcastic reply to a question for which the answer is an obvious “yes.” However, Pope Francis’ many unorthodox views and expressions of support for “progressive” policies that are at variance with Catholic teaching — on communism, socialism, capitalism, Islam, immigration, radical environmentalism, “gay marriage,” divorce, pagan worship, etc. — have many conservative and traditional Catholics seriously asking, “Is the Pope Catholic?”
