“Make ready for them all that you can of force and of warhorses, so that by them you may strike terror in the enemy of Allah and your enemy…” (Qur’an 8:60)

“200 Pakistani Christians left homeless after authorities bulldoze their homes without warning,” by Anugrah Kumar, Christian Post, November 26, 2022:

Two hundred Christian families remain homeless in Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad after a government agency bulldozed their homes and the church building they used for Sunday worship.

The government’s Capital Development Authority demolished the homes in a Christian area, Nawaz Sharif Colony in Islamabad, the U.K.-based group Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS-UK), said in a statement to The Christian Post.

Christian residents had not been given any warning or time to remove their belongings before the demolition on Oct. 18, the group said in the statement this week, adding that the government agency also demolished a church, “but thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities.”

The government has not provided any alternative place for the residents to live.

“These Christians have lost everything — their homes and all of their worldly possessions,” the group’s director, Nasir Saeed, said. “Many of them have lived in the colony for years, raising their families here and investing their life savings into building and maintaining their homes.”

Saeed added that the demolition came soon after the devastating floods in the country and an approaching winter.

More than 1,700 people were killed and hundreds of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed in the monsoon floods, leading the government, which estimated losses to be worth $40 billion, to declare a state of emergency on Aug. 25.

“It is imperative that the Pakistani government financially compensate the Christians who have lost their homes and provide them with somewhere else to live,” Saeed said.

The home of a former councillor, Sabra Saeed Athwal, was also demolished. She called the demolition “a criminal act” and expressed fears that two other Christian colonies — Akram Gill and Rimsha — could also be demolished.

Athwal also fears that some extremist Muslims might have put pressure on the government agency to demolish the Christians’ homes, CLAAS-UK said.

“This injustice has happened as Christians in Pakistan and around the world prepare to celebrate Christmas in just a few weeks,” Saeed added.

Open Doors USA ranks Pakistan as the eighth-worst country in the world when it comes to Christian persecution. The U.S. State Department has named Pakistan on its list of “countries of particular concern” that tolerate or engage in egregious violations of religious freedom….

12 GOP Senators Voted to Eliminate Religious Freedom and Political Dissent

“They will still be subject to years, and sometimes decades, of government discrimination, harassment, and litigation.”

Let’s get this out of the way. Whatever you think about gay rights, Obergefell v. Hodges was legally illegitimate in much the same way as Roe v. Wade. It was another case of a Supreme Court majority dictating its cultural preferences under the color of law. Unlike Roe v. Wade, there’s no significant pressure campaign to roll it back worth mentioning. Abortion opponents kept their fight going for generations. There’s zero evidence of gay marriage opponents having that kind of political stamina, organization, or movement. Simply put, there’s zero reasons for the push to abolish the Defense of Marriage Act which is what HR 8404, misleadingly named the Respect for Marriage Act, does.

The Left is claiming that after the Dobbs decision, there’s an urgent need to codify Obergefell into law lest the Supreme Court wakes up tomorrow and wipes it off the map. That’s nonsense.

So HR 8404 is not out to codify Obergefell and there’s no reason to think that everyone is going to all this trouble just to nail down something that already exists and isn’t going away.

So what is it doing?

Roger Severino warns that “Again, the practical effect if this becomes law, will have nothing to do with the benefits of same-sex couples. It’ll have everything to do with excluding people of faith from their tax-exempt statuses for houses of worship, from adoption agencies that believe that the best most conducive place for a child in placement would be with a married mother and father, and for those who contract or receive grants from the government who want to live according to the beliefs with respect to marriage. Those are the groups who are going to be targeted. And this law would actually create this bludgeon, which is a private right of action, which means individuals could sue on their own in federal court to hound these groups.”

Private cause of action is in there and there’s no reason for it to be there.

Furthermore, Severino notes, “We had a case from the ’80s with respect to tax-exempt status for a violator of a civil rights law. They were deemed not to be a charity, and they lost their tax-exempt status. And the Supreme Court said because there’s an established national policy against that type of discrimination that you lose your tax-exempt status and there’s no recourse. That same tool will be deployed against people who believe that marriage is a union of one man and one woman, which is very different than other types of beliefs that are protected by statutory anti-discrimination laws.”

Mitt Romney was a vocal supporter of this shameful bill. But quite a few Senate Republicans were jumping on board. A few were dissuaded after they heard from voters in their states. But not all.

“Make no mistake,” Alliance Defending Freedom President Kristen Waggoner warned, “this bill will be used by officials and activists to punish and ruin those who do not share the government’s view on marriage.”

On Wednesday, HR 8404 received 62 “aye” votes and 37 “no” votes.

Twelve Republicans voted for advancing the legislation: Sens. Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Capito of West Virginia, Susan Collins of Maine, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.

A fact sheet from the Family Research Council deconstructs promises that religious freedom will be protected.

Section 6(b) only protects those people or entities “whose principal purpose is the study, practice, or advancement of religion” and only from being forced to “solemnize or celebrat[e] […] a marriage.”

FRC notes that religious organizations not officially recognized as such, like Yeshiva University, not to mention foster care and adoption agencies, would not be protected.

“Even those who do, or should, fall within the very narrow protections of Section 6(b) could still be sued and have to prove themselves. They will still be subject to years, and sometimes decades, of government discrimination, harassment, and litigation.”

As the Heritage Foundation writes:

…the only reason to add Congress’ explicit blessing… is to cement same-sex marriage as national policy that can be used as a club by government agencies, such as the IRS, to deny traditional religious institutions tax-exempt status, licenses to assist in adoptions, and government funding and contracts.

This is what a GOP Senate betrayal means for religious freedom.

Iran: Christian activist forced to strip, says Islamic regime uses sexual violence against female protestors

'We Have Lost Patience, Want Revolution' Says Iranian Activist Mary Mohammadi; Interview

THE BRAVEST WOMAN IN IRAN

BY ROBERT SPENCER

The idea is to humiliate and degrade them, and by raping them, to deny them a place in paradise, for in Islam it is entirely the woman’s responsibility to prevent a man from being tempted (hence the hijab, chador, niqab, burqa), and if he is tempted anyway, it’s her fault.

“Exclusive: ‘Was forced to strip, govt uses sexual violence against female protesters,’ says Iranian Christian activist,” by Annu Kaushik, Firstpost, October 17, 2022:

In 2020, Mary Mohammadi was taken to a detention center near Iran’s capital Tehran. Officials told her that her hair was visible.

In the basement of the all-female detention center, Mary was forced to strip.

“If my hair is a problem, is it not a problem to force me to take off all my clothes? Is this Islamic?,” Mary told Firstpost in an exclusive conversation.

The incident was part of the sexual violence that the regime has been using to suppress female protesters and activists, Mary said.

“During protests, security personnel touch female demonstrators inappropriately. They want to make women fearful of stepping out,” she said.

24-year-old Mary has been on the radar of Iranian officials for several reasons. Born to a Muslim family, she converted to Christianity in 2017.

Christian converts and other religious minorities like the Bahais are not recognised in Iran.

Over the last few years, Mary has faced persecution from the authorities in the form of arrests and interrogations due to her faith as well as activism.

The personnel who transferred her to the detention center in 2020 belonged to the morality police which is currently in the eye of the storm due to the death of Mahsa Amini which has triggered nationwide protests in Iran.

But it’s not just the morality police who target women for not wearing the mandatory hijab or a head scarf or wearing it improperly.

According to Mary “radical Muslims do it too.”

In 2019, Mary was on a bus in Tehran. It was a hot day and she had taken off her hijab. Suddenly a fully veiled woman approached Mary and asked her to cover her hair.

“When I refused, an argument ensued during which the woman attacked me & my face was left bloodied,” Mary said.

The activist somehow managed to take the woman to the police station. According to Mary, the officers dissuaded her from filing a complaint and even threatened her with arrest.

“They (police) were very kind to that woman. They let her go at 10 pm but kept me in custody till 3 am,” she added.

“Radical Muslims can even attack minorities in public because the regime is behind them,

“Islamic hijab is mandatory in Iran even for non-Muslims. I am a Christian but I must wear hijab,” she said.

Mary’s activism and faith also took a personal toll. Without giving any reason, her university barred her from appearing in exams.

But what was more hurtful for Mary was the treatment meted out to her by a former employer who was also a close friend.

“The gymnast training center where I worked was shut down during the COVID lockdown. I kept asking my employers when I can return and they told me and they are still closed,” Mary said.

One day, the activist turned up at the center unannounced and saw that it was fully operational.

Mary was not given her job back and believes that her employer and the university faced pressure from the authorities.

Constant threats that Mary said were from the authorities forced her to flee Iran in February 2022. The activist who is currently living in the US told Firstpost that in her home country security forces “continue to use sexual violence in the ongoing protests.”…

Nigeria: Muslims murder three Christians, torch six houses, loot and burn five Christian-owned shops

“Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies…” (Qur’an 8:60)

“Three Christians Murdered by ISWAP Militants in Chibok,” International Christian Concern, October 13, 2022:

10/13/2022 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – On Tuesday, October 4, Islamic militants murdered three Christians in an attack in northeastern Nigeria. The Christians lived in Njilang village, located in Chibok County. During the attack, the militants burned multiple houses and businesses to the ground and wounded dozens more residents.

An area resident who witnessed the attack identified the militants as affiliates of the terror group Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). Chibok county has suffered from many terrorist attacks over the past several years. It is a majority-Christian area, which makes its residents highly vulnerable to violence motivated by Islamic extremism.

The resident went on to say that the ISWAP militants attacked at 2:30 AM and were armed with high-powered weapons. They surrounded the village and shot at the Christians who tried to flee. According to the resident, “The ISWAP terrorists also set fire to six houses and looted five shops belonging to Christians in the village, and afterward burned down the shops.” …

As ICC reported earlier this year, the Nigerian government continues to deny any religious motivation behind these attacks. However, evidence repeatedly shows that Islamic extremist groups Boko Haram and ISWAP are seeking to impose sharia (Islamic law) throughout the entirety of Nigeria.

Bank Allegedly Closes Religious-freedom Group’s Account and Demands Donor List to Reinstate It

JPMorgan Chase Bank recently closed the account of the National Committee for Religious Freedom (NCRF) without explanation, then offered to reinstate the account if the nonprofit would provide it with lists of its donors and endorsed political candidates, claims NCRF chairman Sam Brownback.

NCRF exists to protect religious freedom “by providing a critically needed political response to the ongoing attacks, in law and culture, on America’s First Freedom,” Brownback, former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, said in a January press release announcing the group’s formation.

Needing a place to store the NCRF’s funds, Brownback and the organization’s executive director “went into a Chase branch in the District of Columbia to open an account, no problem,” Brownback told Fox Business. “Then, several weeks later, I went to put another deposit in the account, and they said, ‘Your account has been canceled, we’ll be sending your money back to you.’”

In a September 27 letter to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Brownback wrote that the NCRF also received a letter “notifying us that Chase had decided to ‘end their relationship’ with the [NCRF] and that our account would be closed.”

According to Brownback, when the NCRF’s executive director called the bank about the matter, “the people said the decision was made at the corporate level, it’s secret, we’re not going to tell you why, and it’s irrevocable.”

“We were just stunned.”

The sudden, unexplained closure of the account was bad enough, but the story gets worse, at least in Brownback’s telling. In his letter, the NCRF chairman alleged that “someone from Chase eventually reached out to our Executive Director and informed him that Chase would be willing to reconsider doing business with the NCRF if we would provide our donor list, a list of political candidates we intended to support, and a full explanation of the criteria by which we would endorse and support those candidates.”

“Does Chase ask every customer what politicians they support and why before deciding whether or not to accept them as a customer?” he continued. “Are the same standards and scrutiny applied across the board to all non-profit organizations?”

Chase, for its part, isn’t commenting on the reason for the account’s closure. A spokesperson did, however, assure Fox Business that “we have never and would never exit a client relationship due to their political or religious affiliation.”

Brownback isn’t so sure. Although he wouldn’t speculate on Chase’s reasons for shuttering the NCRF’s account, he told Fox Business that he’s learned of similar things happening to other organizations, most of them conservative.

“We’ve just heard of way too many groups and entities, particularly religious-associated ones, that have been canceled by their providers,” he said. “And we want to start seeing some of these cases investigated.”

Indeed, Big Tech, Big Finance (including JPMorgan Chase), and Big Medicine have all been pushing for the cancellation — or even the prosecution — of dissenters from the “woke” zeitgeist. It would hardly come as a shock to learn that Chase did so in the case of the NCRF.

“I’ve done this work [on religious freedom] internationally for a long time,” Brownback told Fox Business. “Then I come back into the U.S., and I’m seeing this growing level of exclusion of people of faith, of putting them on the outside, and it really concerns me.”

“Any ground you lose on religious freedom here gets magnified around the world because everybody watches what we do,” he averred.

Brownback put Dimon on notice that his experience with Chase has led the NCRF to launch a project “to identify other organizations which have faced similar treatment on the basis of their sincerely held religious beliefs.” The group has already begun the campaign with the hashtag #ChasedAway. They also plan to petition state attorneys general to get involved, Brownback told Fox Business.

Noting that Dimon recently told the Senate Banking Committee that “freedom of religion” was one of America’s “core values,” Brownback asked him, “Do you, and the bank you lead, truly respect religious freedom as a core value that binds all Americans? The recent actions of Chase Bank would seem to suggest otherwise.”

Dimon has not yet replied to Brownback’s letter, the former ambassador said.

How Long Until the Left Outlaws Being Christian in America?

BY MARK TAPSCOTT

If that headlined question above seems a bit of a reach, especially in view of the multiple federal court victories won in the last two years on behalf of religious freedom, then let’s take a closer look.

What we find is a hyper-secularized American public square that is increasingly abusing, penalizing, punishing, and firing Christians. It then tells them, in effect, “So, sue us,” knowing the cost of such litigation all but guarantees there will be no adverse consequences. Consider these current cases:

Georgia Substitute Teacher Fired: Lindsey Barr, now a former substitute teacher in the Savannah, Ga., public schools, lost her job when she expressed concerns about a book shown to elementary students, including her own. As a Christian, Barr objected to kids being shown pictures of same-sex couples parenting children as if that’s normal.

Barr is represented by attorneys from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the Arizona-based public interest law firm that specializes in First Amendment and religious freedom litigation.

“Terminating a teacher for engaging in First Amendment protected expression creates an atmosphere of fear and is intended to send a message to Lindsey and others in the community that, if they criticize the school’s approach to cultural or political issues or express viewpoints contrary to the school’s preferred viewpoints, they will face consequences. This is unlawful, and sadly, why this lawsuit is necessary,” according to ADF Senior Counsel Tyson Langhofer, director of the ADF Center for Academic Freedom.

New York Photographer Forced to Shoot Same-Sex Weddings: Emily Carpenter is a New York photographer who does not wish to be used to glorify same-sex wedding ceremonies.

A federal district court told her she has no such right, so, with the help of ADF attorneys, she is appealing that ruling. If she loses, she faces the prospect of losing her license to do business, fines of as much as $100,000, and a year in jail.

“Free speech is for everyone. No one should be forced to say something they don’t believe,” said ADF Legal Counsel Bryan Neihart, who will be arguing before the court on behalf of Carpenter. “The government cannot coerce or silence speech because it doesn’t like certain ideas. The Constitution ensures Americans can speak consistent with their convictions. We are urging the 2nd Circuit to uphold this freedom so that Emilee can promote marriage according to her beliefs without being coerced by the government to speak a contrary message.”

Airline Invites Employee Comments, Fires Two Christians for Theirs: Now-former Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants Marli Brown and Lacey Smith responded to a company invitation to employees to comment on the operation’s new policy in support of “equality.” Here’s how their federal court suit put it:

“Plaintiffs Marli Brown and Lacey Smith were exemplary flight attendants for Alaska Airlines. Yet when their faith compelled them independently to ask a question about the airline’s support for federal legislation that would remove protections for religious employees and women in the workplace, Alaska Airlines fired them.

“To make matters worse, their Union not only failed to vigorously represent and defend Marli and Lacey against the Airline’s religious discrimination but also discriminated against them because of their religious beliefs and actively undermined their ability to assert their federal and state protections against such discrimination.”

Brown and Smith, with the assistance of attorneys from the First Liberty Institute, the Plano, Texas-based legal foundation that has won multiple First Amendment court victories, filed complaints with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC agreed they have a case, and First Liberty has filed its suit.

Silicon Valley County’s Unconstitutional Fines Against Church: Santa Clara County, Calif., officials used the COVID-19 pandemic as the excuse for imposing bans on church assemblies that effectively closed them. Advocates for Faith and Freedom, a California-based public interest law firm devoted to the defense of religious freedom, is taking the officials to federal court.

“Pastor Mike McClure and Calvary Chapel San Jose sued Santa Clara County, Dr. Sara Cody, James Williams and the Board of Supervisors for implementing and enforcing unconstitutional COVID-19 public health orders. Santa Clara County was the first county to issue a shelter-in-place order and has implemented the most aggressive fine system.

“The county seeks to collect $2.87 million in COVID-19 fines from the church, even though the Supreme Court has admonished California five times and held their orders as applied to churches were violative of the First Amendment. Plaintiffs seek to enjoin the Defendants from collecting one penny and seek a judgement that the Defendants violated the First Amendment and the Excessive Fines Clause of the Eighth Amendment.”

These four cases are just a small sample of the many examples of Christians being denied their First Amendment rights simply because they insist on being able to exercise those rights regarding their religious expression and practice.

For now, redress is available through litigation, but why should Christians uniquely have to bear the mental and financial burdens that come with going to court to assure their constitutional protections simply because they are Christians?

Given the steadily more aggressive official hostile actions against faith in American society, we may wake up one morning in the not-too-distant future to find that sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been banned, as it is in much of the rest of the world.

Parents stand up to Antifa assaults – while protesting ‘Drag’ show for children

Texas MassResistance earlier revealed that Drag performer for children had criminal record.

Texas MassResistance leader Tracy Shannon talks to TV reporter during protest. She didn't hold back about "Drag" and Antifa.

We’re all learning how the Left’s storm troopers are not only violent but degenerate. They come out in force to defend those who push sexual deviancy on children – and attack anyone who disagrees.

But in Texas, pro-family activists - including MassResistance – are boldly standing up to it!

As we recently reported, Texas MassResistance leader Tracy Shannon and MassResistance activist Kevin Whitt exposed how a local leftist church in Katy, Texas, was bringing in a Drag Queen with a criminal record to perform at an upcoming event with children. This was widely reported on conservative news sites, and several pro-family groups announced they would be showing up there to protest as the Sept. 23 event was taking place.

The church, First Christian Church of Katy, had quickly dropped that particular Drag Queen after Tracy exposed his past and published his degenerate social media posts. But the church continued to advertise the event with a different Drag Queen.

Raising money to help teenagers cross-dress without parents' knowledge!

Besides pushing “Drag” culture on children, the purpose of the church’s “Drag Bingo” event was to raise money for "Transparent Closet," the church's in-house organization that helps teenagers to cross-dress without their parent's knowledge. For example, the group gives dresses and make-up to boys, and gives girls strappings to “bind” their breasts tight to appear masculine – a very unhealthy practice promoted by the LGBT movement.

One pro-family man managed to get an admission ticket to the church's Drag show. While inside, he also was given a tour of the "Transparent Closet" by a church member! But when they saw that he was videoing, they had a police officer remove him. Someone later posted his video on Twitter. Right after he left the church, Tracy Shannon interviewed him.

Pro-family activist talks to Tracy after getting ejected from the church 'Drag' event.

He told Tracy that the Drag show was just as bad as people imagined it would be:

It was a drag show. And there were kids and other adults giving the drag queen money during the performance. There were suggestive things said, all of that. There were adults, younger children, and teenaged kids.

He then described what he saw in the "Transparent Closet" area:

The closet is set up in a way that is designed to keep parents uninformed. Chest binders, underwear, and bras can be found.

They told me that they're trying to get more binders and things like that. They showed me jewelry, purses, makeup, bracelets, earrings, underwear, and scarves.

They said they give Home Goods bags to the kids to take it all home secretly, "because families aren't supporting."

He also mentioned that these repulsive buttons were being given out at the church event.

Pro-family people gather to protest

On Saturday, Sept. 23, 0ver 200 people from several area pro-family groups – including Texas MassResistance – lined up across the street from the church to protest the event.

Many held signs. Some prayed and sang. A Catholic group prayed the Rosary. A contingent of “Proud Boys” (who are much maligned in the media) showed up in support. The peaceful protesters came because they were upset that this was targeting children in their city.

Antifa hoodlums come to support “Drag” and terrorize pro-family people

A group of several dozen Antifa thugs clearly had been organized to disrupt the pro-family protest. They lined up on the sidewalk in front of the church, facing the pro-family people across the street.

Many of them were masked and dressed entirely in black or wearing other bizarre clothes. They brought signs promoting homosexual and transgender behaviors (and child grooming), and, as usual, labeling those who disagree with them as “fascists.” (This is ironic, of course, because they are acting exactly as the true fascists of the 1930s.)

The overwhelming opinion of the local people in Katy, TX was clearly against the Drag Queen event with children. Nearly all of the counter-protesters (supporting the event) seemed to be part of the Antifa group, and from outside of the community. All of the cars that passed by that honked or gestured supported the pro-family side. (A lot of thumbs-up!) The Antifa group appeared to be discouraged by that response, Tracy told us.

Antifa thugs attack pro-family people with Bear Mace

The Antifa thugs assaulted the pro-family people with Bear Mace – a powerful 20-foot spray meant to subdue aggressive, charging bears. Here’s what Tracy Shannon told us:

Antifa sprayed everyone with Bear Mace because they are idiots. They were intending to spray the Proud Boys but it was windy. The Mace blew down the street and affected most of the crowd.

There was also a drive-by by Macing of the Catholics who were praying Rosary. My son was Maced. The Mace got in all our throats. One woman had a panic attack, another had to administer an EpiPen because of allergic reaction to the Mace.

The police saw what was happening but made no arrest of the thugs. They did not seem to want to get involved beyond keeping people apart. It was outrageous, and very frustrating.

Were there actual Nazis among pro-family groups?

There were some strange people on the pro-family side that the Antifa people insisted were “Nazis.” But this was likely a false-flag stunt similar to what we’ve seen the Left do many times before. As Tracy told us:

They kept pointing out that “Nazis” were on our side. So, I yelled at them that “we didn't invite Nazis, but you invited drag queens for children.” Not sure if the weird men standing here were real Nazis or not, but they have shown up before, but only when Antifa is there. So they are either plants (most likely) or they are more interested in Antifa than protecting children.

Final thoughts

Although the church event itself could not be stopped, the fact that over 200 pro-family people came and stood up to the intimidation tactics of Antifa is significant. People working to sexualize children should never get a free ride. And prominent conservative media across the country reported and commented on this action.

Besides being violent, Antifa is more degenerate than many people realize. Like the Nazis of the 1930s and the Leninists before that, they recruit dysfunctional people from the dregs of society and form them into a nationwide terror group. They are clearly well funded and well organized. In this case, much of their funding (as we know) comes from US corporations that give hundreds of millions through a variety of disgusting leftist “social justice” front groups.

But good people must continue to stand up – and we will eventually bring back decency and a healthy society!

California Pastor Blasts Newsom’s “Blasphemous” Promotion of Abortion

California Pastor Blasts Newsom’s “Blasphemous” Promotion of Abortion

BY BOB ADELMANN

Certain of his reelection as governor of California in November, Gavin Newsom is spending some of his $24 million in campaign funds to buy billboard space in seven pro-life states promoting abortion.

One of those ads reads:

Need an abortion? California is ready to help.

Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these — Mark 12:31

This immediately elicited outrage from believers, including Kathleen Domingo, executive director of the California Catholic Conference:

It is unconscionable that these ads distort Scripture to support abortion, specifically in states that have already dramatically limited abortion in favor of supporting life.

Chris Check, president of the California-based apologetics ministry Catholic Answers, said Newsom’s ads “commit blasphemy by co-opting Sacred Scripture in service of abortion.”

But the letter from John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church (and the target of much of Newsom’s wrath during the Covid “crisis”), expanded on Newsom’s blasphemy:

Almighty God says in His Word, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). Scripture also teaches that it is the chief duty of any civic leader to reward those who do well and to punish evildoers (Romans 13:1–7). You have not only failed in that responsibility; you routinely turn it on its head, rewarding evildoers and punishing the righteous.

MacArthur called Newsom rebellious, wicked, and reprehensible for the ads:

In mid-September, you revealed to the entire nation how thoroughly rebellious against God you are when you sponsored billboards across America promoting the slaughter of children, whom He creates in the womb (Psalm 139:13–16; Isaiah 45:9–12).

You further compounded the wickedness of that murderous campaign with a reprehensible act of gross blasphemy, quoting the very words of Jesus from Mark 12:31 as if you could somehow twist His meaning and arrogate His name in favor of butchering unborn infants.

You used the name and the words of Christ to promote the credo of Molech (Leviticus 20:1–5). It would be hard to imagine a greater sacrilege.

In that Scripture, God warned anyone burning his child in a sacrifice to the Canaanite god Molech:

I will set My face against that man, and I will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy Name.

MacArthur called out Newsom’s hypocrisy — he calls himself an “Irish Catholic” — with this:

Furthermore, you chose words from the lips of Jesus without admitting that in the same moment He gave the greatest commandment: “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30).

You cannot love God as He commands while aiding in the murder of His image-bearers.

MacArthur ended his letter telling Newsom that, despite his grievous sins against God and man by promoting the murder of unborn children,

Our church, and countless Christians nationwide, are praying for your full repentance. Please respond to the gospel, forsake the path of wickedness you have pursued all your life, turn to Christ, ask for forgiveness, and use your office to advance the cause of righteousness (as is your duty) instead of undermining it (as has been your pattern).

Eric Metaxas no doubt is pleased to learn that MacArthur is willing to take the fight to the enemy. Regarding his new book Letter to the American Church, Metaxas said he wrote it “calling the American Church to actually be God’s church, with all that entails, so that we might avoid the mistakes of the German church in the 1930s, and those direst consequences we know to have been the result.”

Metaxas must also be asking, where are the other pastors protesting Newsom’s blatant opposition to the Lord of Life?

Woke Trans Madness Targeting Religious Freedom but Faithful Are Fighting Back in Court

Michigan Physician Assistant Valerie Kloosterman was exercising her First Amendment right to practice and express her faith when she requested a religious accommodation to her employer’s requirement that she use “gender-identity-based pronouns” and participate in or refer patients for “gender-dysphoria-related surgeries and drugs.”

In an 11-page, single-spaced Sept. 27, 2022, letter to officials with the University of Michigan Health and University of Michigan Health – West, attorneys with First Liberty Institute told the health system that it should reinstate Kloosterman to her position and “assure her that, going forward, it will fulfill its legal obligations to respect its employees’ religious consciences.”

Firing Kloosterman violated the First Amendment, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and various Michigan statutes, according to Michael Berry, senior counsel for the Plano, Texas-based public interest law firm that specializes in defending religious freedoms.

The letter noted that “before firing Ms. Kloosterman, Michigan Health blatantly denigrated her religious beliefs, attempted to compel her to speak against her conscience and make referrals for medical services that violate her conscience, discriminated against her for her religious beliefs, and refused to reasonably accommodate her religious beliefs.”

Those actions were carried out against a 17-year employee who had consistently received superlative performance reviews, including one in which her supervisor observed that “Valerie goes way beyond the call of duty when dealing with patients, follow up and professional responsibility. She is very ethical [and] responsible and treats all with respect.”

Jordan Pratt, also a senior counsel with First Liberty, observed in a statement regarding the Kloosterman firing that health care professionals should never have to choose between practicing their faith and keeping their jobs.

It’s bad medicine to force religious health care professionals to choose between their faith and their job. Valerie provides excellent medical care for every patient, but she cannot in good conscience refer patients for experimental drugs and procedures that violate both her religious convictions and her medical judgment. Nor can she use biology-obscuring pronouns that violate her religious beliefs and could cause patients to miss potentially life-saving screenings. It is intolerant of Michigan Health to demand that medical professionals like Valerie abandon their religious beliefs and their medical ethics in order to remain employed.

At the center of this controversy is Kloosterman’s strong, principled religious faith, which is precisely what the Founders intended to be protected by the First Amendment. It would be no different if Kloosterman was an atheist and had been fired for refusing to participate in compulsory prayers or Bible studies as a condition of employment.

Berry made clear in the letter the vital role Kloosterman’s faith plays in her life and her life’s work:

Ms. Kloosterman is a Christian and longtime member of a United Reformed Church. She believes that God created humankind male and female, that one’s sex is ordained by God, that one should love and care for the body that God gave him or her, and that one should not attempt to erase or alter his or her sex, especially through drugs or surgical means.

She believes that she must not speak against these truths by using pronouns that contradict a person’s biological sex. As a Christian, she also believes that God has ordained the sexual function for procreation, that children are a gift from God, and that—absent compelling reasons—one should not sterilize oneself. Moreover, as a Christian medical professional, she believes that it would be sinful to assist a patient in procuring sterilizing drugs or surgical procedures designed to erase or alter his or her sex.

In her medical judgment, according to the letter, she views “hormone therapy” and “gender reassignment surgery” as experimental procedures that thus far lack credible validation in peer-reviewed, long-term studies. She also believes such procedures result in damaging side effects, including bone density loss, infection, nerve damage, chronic pain, loss of sexual and urinary functions, psychological trauma, and other serious complications.

Kloosterman asks only to be reinstated and assured of her ability to continue providing medical care to all who need it and come to her. If the University of Michigan Health refuses to do so, this case will almost certainly end up in federal court, where it is difficult to see any outcome short of the justice she seeks.

Let it also be noted here that woke trans madness includes a dangerous intolerance that cannot abide individual freedom of choice and reflection was made clear during Kloosterman’s lengthy attempt to obtain a religious accommodation by Thomas Pierce, program director for the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), who insisted that she use the mandatory language and prescriptions.

When she respectfully indicated that she could not do so because of her religious beliefs and because of her independent medical judgment, but that she would use patients’ names in place of pronouns to respect their wishes, Thomas Pierce grew hostile, visibly angry with tight fists and a flushed demeanor, and attacked her religious beliefs.

Among other things, he told Ms. Kloosterman that she could not take the Bible or her religious beliefs to work with her, either literally or figuratively; that given her religious beliefs against gender identity based pronouns and “gender reassignment surgery,” she was to blame for transgender suicides; and that she was “evil” and abusing her power as a health care provider.

Clearly, diversity, equity, and inclusion do not include men and women of faith for ideological obsessives who have no qualms whatever about using every power at their disposal to force the rest of us to think and act as they do.

They are, in short, the enemies of freedom and human creativity.

Christians ‘Face Routine Torture’ in Afghanistan

More casualties from Biden’s ignominious and sloppy withdrawal.

This article first appeared on the Gatestone Institute.

The estimated 15,000-20,000 Christians who remain in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover “face routine torture and persecution from both the government and their own friends, families, and communities,” a new report finds.

This is not a new development.  From the start, matters significantly worsened for Christians on August 15, 2021, following the Biden administration’s abrupt and poorly-planned withdrawal of U.S. troops, which caused the Central Asian nation to fall right back into the grips of the Taliban, an Islamic terrorist group complicit in the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.

During the chaos of withdrawal, there were even reports that the Biden administration was actively preventing the rescue of Christian minorities from what has since become the sharia-enforcing Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Once U.S. withdrawal was complete, reports indicated that “Taliban militants are even pulling people off public transport and killing them on the spot if they’re Christians.”  Any Afghan caught with a Bible app on their phone was reportedly executed.  “How we survive daily only God knows,” a Christian Afghan reported on the condition of anonymity.  “But we are tired of all the death around us.”

According to the World Watch List 2022, which ranks the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted for their faith, Afghanistan is now the worst nation in the entire world in which to be Christian.

Similarly, Voice of the Martyrs, an international humanitarian nonprofit, offers the following about the 99.8 percent Muslim nation:

Beatings, torture and kidnappings are routine for Christians in Afghanistan. … Christians are martyred every year in Afghanistan, but their deaths generally occur without public knowledge. A few are also in prison… Christian converts from Islam are often killed by family members or other radicalized Muslims before any legal proceedings can begin.

Rather tellingly, immediate family members are most prone to persecute and murder converts to Christianity.  As Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs recently explained, although conditions for Christians have “certainly worsened” since the Taliban takeover, “the first line of persecution is your family members, it’s your neighbors.” He explained how converts arouse suspicion when they fail to appear for prayers at their mosques. In just the first eight months of the Taliban’s resumption of power, one clandestine Christian man had to relocate his family three times due to the threat of discovery.

It is worth noting that, while Afghanistan was always bad for Christians, it became significantly worse in response to the U.S. invasion of 2001 (which, over twenty years later, and after spilling much blood and treasure, produced nil). Because Muslims tend to conflate Christians with the West in general, and America in particular—based on the popular but erroneous belief among Muslims that the West and America are still Christian—Afghan Christians were especially targeted after the U.S. invasion as a form of “collective punishment.”

In neighboring Pakistan, as usual (herehere and here) , Christian minorities were also attacked:

Life on any given day for Pakistani Christians is difficult. But members of Pakistan’s Christian community say now they’re being persecuted for U.S. drone attacks on Islamic militants hiding on the border with Afghanistan. The minority, which accounts for an estimated one percent of the country’s 170 million [mostly Muslim] population, says because its faith is strongly associated with America, it is targeted by Muslims.

“When America does a drone strike, they come and blame us,” said one Christian. “They think we belong to America. It’s a simple mentality.”

On the other hand, Western leadership is very careful not to show any concern for Christian minorities—a sentiment that goes hand in hand with Western acquiescence to Islamic sensibilities.  If anything, Western leaders are more prone to turn a blind eye to, if not actively discriminate against, already persecuted Christians—as was the case with the UN and the UK, and during the Obama administration.

There is a final aspect to the plight of Christians in Afghanistan, one that more “pragmatic” observers will, no doubt, cite to blame the persecuted themselves.  Apparently, many of the few thousand Christians that remain in Afghanistan are there on the same rationale that motivated the earliest Christians.  According to David Curry, of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom:

Many Christians did flee Afghanistan when the Taliban took over.  Some did stay because they want to be ‘salt and light’ [Matt. 5:13-16 Matt] in a theological sense in that country, even though it became more hostile.  So, they want to be part of the community. They love their country. It’s totally understandable why many fled, but there is an embattled Christian community there in Afghanistan still today.

Todd Nettleton confirms this:

[Those remaining Christians] made the incredible bold decision to stay in the country. And their attitude was, ‘Listen, if all the Christians flee the country, who’s going to be here to share the gospel, who’s going to be here to be the church?’ And so they made that courageous decision to stay, even knowing that the Taliban would be taking over; knowing it was a very risky thing.

However one wishes to interpret this, here are the weak and vulnerable altruistically risking their lives for what they at least believe is the good of their fellow man, while many of the world’s rich and powerful, who habitually preach about “human rights” and “religious freedom”—at least when it suits their agendas, for example, to create racial divisions in the U.S., demonize Israel, or cover up for Islamist radicalization—have seemingly done everything possible to exacerbate their situation.

James Madison’s Home to Become Site of Massive White Guilt Monument

BY ROBERT SPENCER

SEE: https://pjmedia.com/columns/robert-spencer/2022/09/27/james-madisons-home-to-become-site-of-massive-white-guilt-monument-n1632749;

Republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, & research purposes.

“We want to make this a national monument to the ‘Invisible Founders,’” said the Rev. Larry Walker, a trustee at Montpelier, the home of James Madison, father of the Constitution, in announcing plans to build a national slavery monument right on the grounds of Madison’s home. The Montpelier board is planning on a massive scale: “Our memorialization project is not going to be limited to a bench and a plaque,” Walker declared, as the board compared the projected monument to the Lincoln Memorial. If this thing is built, future visitors to Montpelier will come away with one overwhelming message: James Madison was an evil man who enslaved other human beings.

Board chairman James French showed the photo of the Lincoln Memorial in order “to illustrate…our desire to create a national monument for the legacy of those who were enslaved.” Montpelier CEO Elizabeth Chew said that the plan for a national slavery monument was one of “big future projects” planned for Montpelier. The board announced its big monument plans on Sept. 17 at a little-noticed panel session (the video of the session has all of 91 views as of this writing), “Equal Power-Sharing at Montpelier,” at the mansion’s David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center. The New York Post has noted that David M. Rubenstein, who got the visitor center named after himself by donating millions to Montpelier, is “on the boards of the globalist World Economic Forum, China’s Tsinghua University, and the Council on Foreign Relations, among others.” What a surprise!

Larry Walker explained, according to a Saturday report in the New York Post, that he believed that slaves “deserve equal credit for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights because their labor financed the private lives of Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and many of the nation’s early leaders.” Why choose Madison’s home for the slavery monument when others among the Founding Fathers also owned slaves? Apparently, because he was unrepentant: “Madison owned 38 enslaved African Americans when he died in 1836 — and unlike George Washington, freed none of them in his will.” Nor did Madison denounce slavery even while owning slaves, as did Jefferson. Walker asserted: “The home of the Constitution should be the place that recognizes the contributions of descendants of the enslaved communities across America.”

Before wokeness took over Montpelier and the rest of the Western world, it was generally understood that human beings were complex and that a man could be heroic in one way even while having blind spots and weaknesses. Madison was much more than just a slaveowner, and according to the Post, “critics and historians say such a memorial would upend the fourth president’s legacy and become the center of attention at his own home.” Oh yes indeed. Historian Douglas MacKinnon declared: “These people are doing what any totalitarian regime would do. They want to create a whole new narrative not based on reality. As they say, the victor gets to write the history — and now our history is being rewritten before our eyes.”

Related: Not Just Jefferson: Now James Madison’s Home Gets an Anti-American Makeover

That’s right. The woke have won the culture, or want us to believe that they have, and so they’re recasting American history as one of racism, white supremacy, colonialism, and other assorted evils. MacKinnon added: “A monument honoring America’s slaves is a worthy goal. But the only reason to build it at the home of James Madison is if you aim to deny, demean, and dismiss him by focusing on his weaknesses and not his massive contributions.”

That’s exactly what the Montpelier board wants to do. The Left hates James Madison, as well as Thomas Jefferson and the other Founding Fathers, for exactly the same things that make him great and worthy to be celebrated: Because he fought against tyranny. Because he helped create a free republic. Because he placed statements in those founding documents that would ultimately lead multitudes of the citizens of the new nation to believe that slavery was wrong and immoral and give their lives to bring about its abolition.

Madison is just the sort of man whom the fascist thugs of Antifa, busy smearing ACAB on the sides of buildings and hurling obscenities at police in pursuit of their vision of socialist utopia, and their moneyed backers despise and fear. They want Americans to hate America and the Constitution, so that they won’t defend either, and will submit meekly to their authoritarian vision. The example of James Madison could inspire Americans instead to work to save the free republic he did so much to leave for us. Can’t have that. Madison’s name must be made anathema to Americans. That’s the point of this national slavery monument at Montpelier.

Biden’s Desperate Midterm Hail Mary: Give Me Two More Senators and I Promise I’ll Let You Kill Your Baby

Joe “allegedly showered with his daughter” Biden, one of today’s longest “serving” politicians—or his handlers—have managed to go all scorched-earth on the nation he has sworn to protect. Now he desperately wants your vote in November. And he promises to make abortion the law of the land once again.

“If you give me two more senators in the United States Senate, I promise you, I promise you, we’re going to codify Roe and once again make Roe the law of the land,” Biden barked from his tar pit.

President Joe Biden’s speech at the National Education Association in Washington on Friday reminded me of this guy:

The easier and wiser thing to do would be to turn on his hackneyed “blue collar Joe” charm, fall on his sword, admit he made mistakes, and perhaps promise to fart in front of Camilla again now that she’s Queen Consort of England. But the truth is, Joe can’t or won’t admit he’s tanking the U.S. with the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow. Check out this video from his “60 Minutes” codswallop poppycock-fest.

Inflation and gas prices aren’t the only two pesky termites chowing down on Biden’s canoe. Let’s take a stroll down recent memory lane and fondly recall a few of the anchors Biden and the Democrats have wrapped around their own necks as the midterms approacheth.

FACTS ABOUT BIDEN’S FAILURES

  • Democrats fought to keep us barricaded at home even though they knew in May 2020 that 84% of COVID patients had been locked down.
  • We’ve had historically high murder rates for two years now because Democrats thought that letting prisoners out of jail, defunding the police, and no-bail laws would attract black voters. Instead, it got them killed in record numbers.
  • Pretending the southern border is closed, even as illegals admit how easy it is to get in, is costing us 100,000 American lives every year from fentanyl overdoses. The Chinese commies send fentanyl to their friends in the Mexican drug gangs, who then cook it up and sneak it over the border. Gee, I wonder if Biden is keeping the border open so that his puppet masters in Beijing can make mad stacks AND slaughter Americans? Remember, “good” drug dealers don’t kill their customers.
FACT-O-RAMA! Many of the fentanyl deaths are in people who don’t even know they taking the drug. It is mixed into other drugs like Percocet which people, especially teens, buy off the street.

With the midterm elections approaching, the Democrats have found themselves between a rock and Biden’s shower wall (did I mention Joe Biden allegedly showered with his young daughter Ashley who believes she was molested as a kid but can’t recall who did it?). So they are running on three issues from their almost pageless playbook,

  • Trump sucks and his MAGA crowd are “semi-fascists” (even though no one cares). But don’t read about this guy
  • January 6 (read what Matt wrote)
  • Abortion on demand up until high school graduation day

FACT-O-RAMA! Repealing Roe vs. Wade did NOT make abortion illegal. It sent the issue to the states to decide for themselves. Now please tell your screeching liberal sister-in-law and her trans-pansexual boi?-friend to shut up.

With little to run on and much to hide, Biden decided to suck up to women as he spoke Friday.

“I don’t think the MAGA Republicans have a clue about the power of American women,” Biden kiss-assed. “Let me tell you something: They’re about to find out.”

But here is the punchline: poll after poll suggests that abortion isn’t the saving grace Biden is hoping for. A recent Harvard poll suggests a 60% majority of voters are either against abortion or don’t care enough about it to have it affect their vote. When asked to rank their most important issues, abortion came in 7th place.

If the Democrats are hoping abortion on demand will help them dodge a rhino bullet, let them.

Teacher Defines “Fascist” for Students as “Republican” & “Christian”

BY ALEX NEWMAN

SEE: https://thenewamerican.com/teacher-defines-fascist-for-students-as-republican-christian/;

Republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, & research purposes.

A government-school teacher in California is under fire after being exposed for teaching his child victims to associate fascism with Christianity, the Republican Party, European ancestry, heterosexuality, and other characteristics or identities.

The scandalous tax-funded indoctrination, first exposed by the Washington Examiner based on photos and testimony from a student in the class, took place in San Diego’s Madison High School. Critics expressed concerns that the propaganda could lead to radicalization and even violent extremism.

In a picture taken by the student whistleblower, the word fascism appears underlined at the top of the board. Underneath that, the English teacher put down terms such as “Trump,” “heterosexual,” “White,” “Christian,” and more.

“He goes on to insult white people and Christian people, automatically putting them under … that they’re automatically fascist,” the student was quoted as saying by the Examiner, which withheld his identity over concerns of retaliation by the teacher or school.

“He just kind of put up that they’re fascists, and they support a fascist government,” continued the student. “Immediately — he didn’t even ask the class about it. He just made the assumption right away that whites and Christians automatically support a fascist government.”

The GOP, too, was targeted, alongside the National Socialist (Nazi) party of Adolf Hitler. “As it is currently constituted, the Republican party is now a fascist organization that no longer fits the category of a conventional Democratic party,” the teacher wrote on the board, photographs show.

According to the student, who took the photos that were published in the media, the incendiary and hateful propaganda was dished out in an English class on August 29 of this year. It happened during a lesson on how to write an “argumentative essay.”

“This completely caught me off guard,” the student was quoted as saying. “This is an English class. This isn’t a political class or anything. I signed up for the class to learn how to write papers and stuff … I didn’t sign up for the class for a teacher to be trying to shove his ideology down my throat.”

The division of Americans by race and other characteristics is a hallmark of Critical Race Theory, a Marxist tool to divide and conquer the nation similar to how class divisions were used in other nations. The addition of Christians and heterosexuals to the “oppressor” class was easy to predict.

In Communist China, Mao’s mass-murdering butchers divided Chinese people into black and red camps. Black class members—business owners, landowners, Christians, and others—were painted as the oppressors. The Red class, meanwhile, was composed of “oppressed” peasants and workers.

Ironically, National Socialism, better known as Nazism, has much in common with the totalitarian beliefs of the progressive movement in America. From an all-powerful state and government partnership with business to the war on free speech, the parallels are clear and ominous.

Similar propaganda is being fiendishly pumped into the minds and hearts of impressionable young Americans from coast to coast — and has been for generations. As the nation implodes amid hate and ignorance, the fruit is now becoming obvious. America will not survive another generation of this.

Miami Herald Warns That Christian Rhetoric Could ‘Mobilize Fringe Mobs’

The Miami Herald has discovered something about Republican politicians, and boy is it a problem. You may want to sit down for this one.

GOP politicians who are Christians use scripture in their speeches.

GAAAAAAAASP! Grab the fainting couch!

via GIPHY

I know. You’re not really shocked or appalled, but this information came as news to the Miami Herald’s Ana Ceballos, particularly when it comes to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), who Ceballos’ article says is “playing with fire.”

The reporter goes all the way back to February to cite a speech DeSantis made at Hillsdale College to make her point.

“Put on the full armor of God. Stand firm against the left’s schemes. You will face flaming arrows, but if you have the shield of faith, you will overcome them, and in Florida, we walk the line here,” DeSantis said in his speech. “And I can tell you this, I have only begun to fight.”

Now, I wince a little bit at DeSantis using “the left” where the apostle Paul talks about the devil in Ephesians 6:10-18, but I get his point. The left is engaging in a hard push for policies that violate Judeo-Christian morality in many ways, and believers need to engage many of the same weapons of spiritual warfare — prayer, faith, devotion to God’s Word — to aid in combatting these assaults.

But, as Ceballo points out, this is problematic because there’s a slim chance that an extremely small fringe of people might take the spiritual warfare talk literally.

“[DeSantis] and other Republicans on the campaign trail are blending elements of Christianity with being American and portraying their battle against their political opponents as one between good and evil,” Ceballos states. “Those dynamics have some political observers and religious leaders worrying that such rhetoric could become dangerous, as it could mobilize fringe groups who could be prone to violence in an attempt to have the government recognize their beliefs.”

This, in Ceballos’ eyes, is Christian nationalism, which, she claims, “for many conservatives has become a political identity.” The problem with that assertion is that she’s dead wrong.

Christian nationalism is a phenomenon, but it’s a minuscule movement of people who believe that the U.S. is a strictly Christian nation and that the only people who can be Americans must be a particular type of Christian. The vast majority of conservative, Bible-believing Christians don’t subscribe to this notion.

For Our VIPs: Christians Fight Spiritual Battles That the Left Doesn’t Even Want to Acknowledge

That doesn’t stop leftists from slapping the “Christian nationalist” label on Republican politicians. But Ceballos had to go 1,349 miles to find a pastor who was willing to play her game. She quotes Brian Kaylor, a pastor in Jefferson City, Mo., whose specialty is the intersection of faith and politics. A quick perusal of Kaylor’s Twitter account shows that he has major issues with politicians using scripture — when those politicians are Republicans.

“I think, at best, DeSantis is playing with fire,” Kaylor declared in the article. “If asked, I’m sure he would tell you he is not telling people to literally go and fight. But this rhetoric in this political environment is dangerous.”

Kaylor, a Baptist pastor, for crying out loud, accuses DeSantis of being exclusive of non-Christians in the piece.

“If there is any privileging of one faith’s tradition, then you don’t have true religious liberty for everyone,” he claims. “If you don’t believe in religious liberty for all, then you don’t believe in religious liberty at all.”

Ceballos also quotes Yale sociologist Philip Gorski, who wrote a totally unbiased book entitled The Flag and the Cross: White Nationalism and the Threat to American Democracy.

“The full armor of God passage is a favorite amongst certain types of Pentecostals who really do see the world in terms of spiritual warfare,” Gorski informs readers.

Another professor tells Ceballos that DeSantis is using “God talk” and “Christian nationalist talking points” to gain votes.

DeSantis fought back in the form of a statement from Press Secretary Bryan Griffin.

“The governor is a Christian and there is absolutely no issue with him sharing his values or utilizing them in his decision-making as a leader. Questions like ‘What does the governor believe about the Christian nationalism movement that has been getting more attention since Jan. 6, 2021?’ — which are indistinguishable from ridiculous leftist political talking points — are indicative of the problem of overtly biased reporting that plagues the modern media,” the statement read.

Christians know that political and cultural issues are important, worthwhile fights.

“We understand that these policy fights are, indeed, in many cases, moral issues,” said Dr. Albert Mohler of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary about Ceballos’ article. “Otherwise, we wouldn’t be concerned about them.”

Related: Are Christians Being Persecuted in America?

Two things are completely missing from Ceballos’ piece and the quotes from these scholars who don’t want to give any conservative Christians the benefit of the doubt. The first thing is that the use of scripture in political speeches has been part of the American fabric since the founding of the country. Politicians as diverse as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan have invoked the Bible and the Christian faith. Does this make them “Christian nationalists”? Did fringe mobs leap into action from these speeches and statements?

The other thing that Ceballos and her sources miss — or ignore — is that Democrats use scripture, speak in churches, and invoke Christianity all the time. Was it “Christian nationalism” when Hillary Clinton spoke in an African American church and co-opted a black dialect to say that she was “no ways tired” of fighting? Is it “playing with fire” for Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi to invoke their Catholicism, which they often do, or for Stacey Abrams to mention that she’s the daughter of pastors, which she does all the time? Is the fact that Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) is a pastor who fights for unbiblical policies an issue?

Why is it only a problem when the current crop of Christian conservatives invoke scripture? Why does Ceballos think that DeSantis is in the wrong when he talks about spiritual warfare? Why are the other politicians she mentions, including Georgia senate candidate Herschel Walker, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and Michigan secretary of state candidate Kristina Karamo, all Republicans?

We all know the reason why. It’s because, in the eyes of Ceballos, everything Republicans do is a problem.

Sending Your Child to a Christian College?-Look Out for Words You Thought You Would Never Hear!

Two years ago, Lighthouse Trails posted an article titled “Christian Colleges and Seminaries in More Trouble Than Ever as Many Plunge Into Emergent Spirituality.” As Christian parents are preparing to send their high-school graduate kids to Christian colleges and universities this coming fall, we hope that the article (posted below) will provide a desperately needed warning. And in fact, now that contemplative schools have turned “woke” and progressive, that warning is more needed than ever. You may send your sweet child of faith to one of these schools only to watch in horror as his or her faith is turned upside down in a short period of time, and he or she may come home during a semester break and tell you the words you never thought you would hear, “Hey Mom and Dad, I am now an atheist, and I don’t believe what the Bible says anymore!”

The article:

For nearly 18 years, Lighthouse Trails has been reporting on the slide that evangelical colleges, universities, and seminaries have been taking into the contemplative/emergent/ecumenical river. It would be great if we could say there’s been a real turnaround and things at these colleges are getting better. It would be great if we could say that your college-age child is safe in most Christian colleges today. And it would be great if we could say that these schools have realized the error of their ways and have made dramatic efforts to get back on the biblical course. Unfortunately, we cannot say any of these things because they simply are not true.

We were once again reminded of how far off the track evangelical schools have gone when earlier this month we received an e-blast from Christianity Today announcing 50%-off tuition special for qualifying students to Seattle Pacific University. That will sound very enticing to parents who are looking for Christian education for their college-age children at affordable rates. But let’s take a glance at what these children will be introduced to if they attend Seattle Pacific University:

At SPU’s Center for Biblical and Theological Education, students will be introduced to various forms of contemplative spirituality, and faculty members are being trained to pass them on. For instance, in a 2019 faculty retreat syllabus, the list of activities at the retreat includes Lectio divina, praying with icons, sabbath keeping, Ignatian Spirituality, and Prayer of Examen. At the upcoming 2020 Winter Discernment Weekend, prospective students will be introduced to “Guided Prayer” and Lectio Divina. “Spiritual Formation” and contemplative spirituality are integrated throughout the spiritual infrastructure of SPU. Faculty Staff Bulletins are peppered with recommendations and accolades for Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen, and numerous other hard-core mystics and panentheists.

In addition to the heavily contemplative element at SPU, you will find promotion for all things emergent such as “critical race theory” (a Marxist-leaning ideology) and the so-called “social-justice gospel” (with recommendations for social justice leaders such as Shane Claiborne and SoJourners).

For anyone who understands contemplative spirituality, these things we are sharing won’t come as a surprise because contemplative prayer is the gateway ‘drug,” so to speak, to all things emergent, socialist, Marxist, New Age, and anti-morality. And if there is one thing we hope to get across in this article, it is this: A very large number of Christian higher education institutions are now exhibiting signs that they are being influenced and directed by emergent ideologies, and many of these same schools are the ones we warned about years ago as they started down the contemplative path; the inevitable “fruit” of contemplative prayer is a drastic change in spiritual outlook (i.e., no longer resembling biblical Christianity; i.e., now emergent).

Lancaster Bible College in PA, one of the schools that have been on the Lighthouse Trails Contemplative College List for several years, continues down the contemplative path going deeper and deeper into the emergent world. For a convincing example, their Formational Leadership Master of Arts Degree program is taught by contemplative/emergent/Replacement Theology/New Missiology leader Wayne Cordiero. (More information on this program).

Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho continues incorporating emergent beliefs into the lives of its students. Some of our readers may remember our 2010 story titled “Buddhist/Universalist Sympathizer Woos Nazarene Students at NNU.” Most Nazarene universities had already been seduced by Catholic contemplative mystic Brennan Manning by then, and so bringing in a Buddhist/universalist sympathizer to NNU was just following contemplative protocol, which they have continued to do.

A few examples of NNU’s current status are the following: In the THEO4900 Religion Capstone course, The Living Reminder by Catholic mystic Henri Nouwen is one of two required textbooks. A graduate course titled COUN6594A Mindfulness Approaches uses Mindfulness and Psychotherapy for its textbook. Another graduate course (YCFM6730 Missional Ministry) uses these four textbooks— Celtic Way of Evangelism, Future Faith, Kingdom Come, and Creating a Missional Culture. In Creating a Missional Culture, the author introduces the reader to Jurgen Moltmann, Karl Barth, Marcus Borg, and several others of the same caliber (these three men are heroes of the emergent movement). In these NNU textbooks, you find the path to emergent, “progressive,” socialist, New Age “Christianity”—something that has become the hallmark for Nazarene universities today. If you attend a Nazarene church, and that church is looking for a new pastor, it would be a good idea to find out how much of his seminary/university training rubbed off on him because you can be sure, he’ll be bringing it to your church.

In 2013, we released our special report titled An Epidemic of Apostasy – How Christian Seminaries Must Incorporate “Spiritual Formation” to Become Accredited, documenting how contemplative spirituality was entering Christian colleges at an alarming rate. Fast forward to today, and many of these schools are hardly recognizable from where they were just seven years ago.

In this relatively short article, we have provided examples of just three schools. But we could give countless more other schools that began opening their doors to the contemplative element, and now are becoming full-fledged emergent schools.

When we started warning about the contemplative movement entering the church through the evangelical colleges, seminaries, and universities back in the early part of this present millennium, our warnings were brushed off and dismissed by many Christian leaders. Today, some of these same leaders are being vocal against the left-leaning, anti-God, socialistic condition of this country. But they either don’t realize or don’t care that the early contemplative pioneers that they embraced twenty-plus years ago brought that very same mindset into the church through contemplative prayer. And now, as older pastors are retiring or passing away, the new younger pastors, trained in the colleges and seminaries, have become evangelists for this anti-Gospel, anti-biblical worldview.

The Calvinist Factor

For the editors at Lighthouse Trails, and for many of our readers, we are not surprised that this paradigm shift has occurred. We have witnessed the terrible apathy and indifference by Christian leaders and many pastors for nearly 18 years. Not only has there been apathy and indifference, but there has been hostility and anger. Just last week, a pastor in Oregon who had been placed on our Christian leaders and pastors' booklet mailing list (at the request of one of our readers) called and told us to remove him from the list. He then proceeded to list off about a dozen adjectives to describe us including pugnacious, slanderous, and hateful.

We were curious about this pastor’s church and checked it out on the Internet. It was a Calvinist-promoting church. One reason we have experienced a new level of anger by some pastors and leaders is because of the book we published in 2018 warning about Calvinism (Calvinism: None Dare Call it Heresy). And this brings us to something that needs to be said in this article with regard to the direction evangelical colleges, universities, and seminaries have headed: Many Christian colleges and universities are now embracing or are in the process of embracing Calvinism and Reformed Theology.

This presents a different set of serious problems, in one respect. But as we have stated in other articles, and wholeheartedly believe based on what we have observed, many young people trained in or drawn into Calvinism end up emergent or leaving the faith altogether (such as in the case of the recent departure from the faith by I Kissed Dating Goodbye author Josh Harris).

Aside from the colleges that have historically been Calvinist and Reformed (e.g., The Master’s Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Calvin College), new ones are continually getting on board with Calvinism. A perfect example of this is Bob Jones University (historically the antithesis of a Calvinist school), which now has a Calvinist president. And then there is the Southern Baptist Convention. We estimate that as many as half of the Southern Baptist colleges and universities are now Calvinist leaning. One caller, who is a longstanding SBC member that has been in leadership positions, told us that almost all the SBC universities are now Calvinist or Calvinist influenced. A 2007 Christian Post article titled “Calvinism on the Rise” stated: “Nearly 30 percent of recent SBC seminary graduates now serving as church pastors indicate they are Calvinists.” This statistic was based on data presented at the 2006 SBC “Building Bridges: Southern Baptists and Calvinism” conference. We believe that percentage is much higher today because of the increase in Calvinism in schools. And if our theory is right that many young Calvinists will eventually become emergent or defect the faith (sometimes because they cannot handle the dismal beliefs of John Calvin and Calvinism and sometimes because they haven’t found a personal relationship with Christ through Calvinism), then the outcome is going to be disastrous.

CONCLUSION

Either way, you look at it, Christian/evangelical colleges, universities, and seminaries are in trouble. And if they are in trouble, then so are our churches because the schools are producing today’s and tomorrow’s pastors and leaders.

Our exhortation to parents and grandparents is to carefully and prayerfully choose the schools your children and grandchildren will attend. The pickings are getting slimmer every day, but your choices can potentially have eternal consequences or eternal blessings. Please don’t take it lightly.

Editor’s Note: If you know of a young person who attends or who plans to attend a Christian college, university, or seminary, please consider asking him or her to read Castles in the Sand or A Time of Departing. If you cannot afford to get one of these books, write to us at editors@lighthousetrails.com, and we will send a free copy for you to give to that college-age person. If you are wondering why we have so much concern about this, read an article we wrote in 2013 titled “Want Your Child to Become an Atheist? – Send Him to LeTourneau University in Texas (or Any Other Contemplative/Emergent School For That Matter).” It’s a true story, and tragically, it is happening too often.

Methodist Emory University in Atlanta: ‘Christian’ college now giving students pronoun options

Can pick from: 'He/Him/His, She/Her/Hers, They/Them/Theirs, Xie/Hir/Hirs, and Ze/Zir/Zirs'

A Christian college, the Methodist Emory University in Atlanta, has announced a plan that gives students a choice as to the pronouns by which they are identified in school records.

The Methodist church in America is one of the traditional denominations that have come under the influence of various secular social agendas, including the LGBT agenda, and just days ago, more than 100 Florida churches filed a lawsuit to leave the United Methodist Church conference.

That follows numerous cases of individual churches fleeing the liberal agenda of the association's leadership.

Now Campus Reform is reporting that Emory officials have established a process for students to choose whether they want to be known as "He/Him/His, She/Her/Hers, They/Them/Theirs, Xie/Hir/Hirs, and Ze/Zir/Zirs."

Students will claim their preferred pronouns through the school's online system for making payments and registering for classes.

The school promises that after a student makes a choice, those pronouns will be used on class rosters and elsewhere.

Campus Reform reported the change at Emory "follows a national trend that Campus Reform has reported on in recent years."

It cited New York University as an example of schools setting up similar provisions to accommodate those social agendas.

And, "In September 2021, the University of North Dakota proposed changing its housing policy to allow students to live in dorms that matched their gender identity."

Danielle M. Bruce-Steele, of the school's office for "LGBT Life" told the Emory News Center that transition "will push the university forward to even greater inclusion of our LGBTQ community members."

The school's announcement included a statement from Christa Acampora, an official handling academic affairs.

"This change was really driven by Emory students and their desire to help us be a better community," said Acampora, "A large group of people at Emory — including staff, administrators, faculty, and students — worked to shape the policy change and enable the systems to support its implementation."

The school's online system notes that if a student's chosen pronouns are missing from the school list, there's a choice for "Pronouns not listed" to let them enter their own.

EDITOR’S NOTE: During the Biden era of rapidly metastasizing madness, the greatest madness of all may be today’s shockingly widespread campaign to indoctrinate, seduce, groom, and flat-out RECRUIT America’s children into the dark world of transgenderism. Countless LGBT activists, including many public-school teachers, have taken to proselytizing the new transgender salvation to America’s children, both on social media and within the schools themselves. Even Biden’s far-left Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra fully supports taxpayer-funded amputations of healthy body parts of these vulnerable children, declaring ghoulishly, “We should help those have the life-affirming care that they need.” The result? Untold numbers of America’s kids are being led into lives of not just unending conflict, confusion, suffering, deformity, and disability, but far too often – as multiple studies prove – suicide. The whole unbelievable story – including the underlying reasons, almost entirely unreported elsewhere, for what amounts to the most massive child sexual abuse campaign in American history – is explored as never before in the July issue of WND’s critically acclaimed Whistleblower magazine, titled “WHAT’S REALLY BEHIND THE TRANSGENDER CRAZE?”

Teacher Defines ‘Fascist’: ‘Heterosexuals,’ ‘Christians’

In This High School, Kids Learn That Republicans and Christians Are Fascists

San Diego Teacher Caught Indoctrinating Students

English students at Madison High School in San Diego, California received a surprising lesson last week from their teacher. Instead of teaching students at Madison High School how to craft an argumentative essay...the English teacher shared his personal political ideology.

In Gavin Newsom’s California, the kids have a leg up on those in the rest of the country, because the Golden State has the coolest, hippest teachers. In San Juan Hills High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., teacher Danielle “Flint” Serio has an entire “queer library” in her classroom. And down the road at Madison High School in San Diego, a teacher has defined “fascist” with words including “Trump,” “white,” “Christian,” and “heterosexual.” The Republican Party, this sage wrote on his classroom whiteboard, “is a fascist organization that no longer fits the category of a conventional Democratic Party.” It’s not just the broad-brush slander. It’s historical illiteracy. Our schools are turning out a generation of indoctrinated imbeciles. That appears to be the goal, in fact.

The Madison High teacher’s heroic efforts to turn American schoolchildren into socialist lemmings would have passed unnoticed were it not for a student in the class who took the risk of taking photos and speaking to Christopher Tremoglie of the Washington Examiner. Both the student and the teacher were kept anonymous, however, for fear of retaliation from the teacher or vengeful Leftist school officials.

The teacher’s explanation of fascism, meanwhile, is false in so many ways that it’s dizzying. Take, for example, his inclusion of “Christian” as one of its essential components. The student whistleblower said: “He just kind of put up that [Christians] are fascists, and they support a fascist government. Immediately — he didn’t even ask the class about it. He just made the assumption right away that whites and Christians automatically support a fascist government.”

Fascism did indeed arise first in a Christian country, Italy, and reached an apex of evil in another Christian country, Germany, but it was ultimately defeated in large part due to the efforts of two other Christian countries, Britain and the United States. And fascism is inherently “heterosexual”? Does this clown not realize that every human society on earth since the dawn of recorded time has been heterosexual?

It’s unlikely that the Madison High School teacher has the faintest idea of the actual meaning of “fascism” and is likely only using the word because it is the Left’s all-purpose catchall term for ideas and groups it hates. The word itself, however, is derived from the Latin fasces, which means a bundle of sticks. The idea is that the sticks are all bound together and that there is strength in unity. This was a perfect name for a movement that advocated an all-powerful central government that would not take over the means of production, as the Communists advocated, but would leave them in private hands while forcing them to coordinate their activities with the government’s demands.

Sound familiar? It should. If any political movement in America today is fascist, it’s the Democrat oligarchy in its alliance with Big Tech and other woke corporations, including the corporate media. There is the idea of strength in unity in action, as all these corporations march in lockstep with the same ideology and same goals. That’s fascism, but you won’t hear about it at Madison High School.

The stupid, it gets worse. The student whistleblower recounts that the teacher went “to this board and writes ‘fascist’ on it, and this really struck me. He immediately made the comparison of the Republican Party to the Nazi Party. And that was really offensive to me. He listed the Republican Party and the Nazi Party as similar. And that’s just ridiculous, and I took offense to that. So I took a picture of it.” Here again, this teacher likely hasn’t the slightest awareness of the fact, that “Nazi” is a German abbreviation of “National Socialist,” which was the actual name of Hitler’s party. The National Socialist party platform actually called for the nationalization of German industries, although Hitler ultimately went the fascist route rather than the socialist one, and forced them to do his bidding while nominally remaining private companies instead. It also called for a massive expansion of the welfare system. Here again, that’s far closer to the Democrat, rather than the Republican, program.

The student noted that this wasn’t even a politics or social studies class: “This completely caught me off guard. This is an English class. This isn’t a political class or anything. I signed up for the class to learn how to write papers and stuff. I didn’t sign up for the class for a teacher to be trying to shove his ideology down my throat.”

Yes, but this is a public school in California, in 2022. Neither parents nor students should expect anything but the far-Left ideology shoved down their throats, all day, every day.
