According to sources, a new Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will start on Monday. Daniel Driscoll will take the reins of the ATF from Acting Director Kash Patel, who will continue as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Mr. Driscoll is currently serving as the Secretary of the Army after being confirmed on February 25, 2025. He was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Mr. Driscoll used the post-9/11 GI Bill to attend the University of North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He would then serve in the United States Army for three and a half years as a lieutenant, first as an armor officer, then as a cavalry scout platoon leader with the 10th Mountain Division. He would see combat while deployed in Iraq.

After Driscoll’s time in the Army, he attended Yale Law School and received a Juris Doctor. During his time at Yale, he would become friends with Vice President JD Vance. While at Yale, Driscoll interned for Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Alex Kozinski and the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs. In 2020, he would run for the Republican nomination to represent North Carolina’s 11th congressional district. He would be unsuccessful in his election attempt.

Driscoll’s public record on gun rights is limited. When he ran for Congress, he ran on a conservative platform, including protecting the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. With the Justice Department’s (DOJ) new Second Amendment Task Force announcement, Driscoll could see a significant role. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) saw the appointment to the position as a positive step to curtail the ATF’s overreach.

“President Trump’s decision to appoint Acting Director Driscoll is indicative of his resolve to bring reform to the ATF and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and the industry that makes it possible to exercise those rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “NSSF is deeply appreciative of FBI Director Kash Patel’s service in leading the ATF as Acting Director for nearly two months in his interim role and the recognition, along with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, that the ATF was "weaponized" by the previous administration to carry out a radical gun control agenda. The firearm industry is confident that President Trump’s appointment of Acting Director Driscoll to lead the ATF will return the Bureau to its proper role as a law enforcement agency laser focused on combating violent crime and illegal firearms trafficking, and to act as a non-partisan regulator of the firearm industry.”

The ATF has faced growing criticism over its actions against gun owners and the gun industry. The appointment of Kash Patel as acting director and Robert Leider as chief counsel has given hope to the gun community that the ATF will curtail some of its infringements. Both gentlemen have a record of being pro-gun. Some changes have already been taking place, including repealing zero-tolerance policies and reviewing rules put into place under the last administration.

It is believed that Mr. Driscoll will keep reforming the Bureau and help implement President Donald Trump’s executive orders on Second Amendment issues. Kash Patel will remain the head of the FBI. There is no timeline for a permanent ATF director.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Don’t Be A ‘PANICAN’ Over Trump’s Tariffs, Wall Street

President Trump remains resolute in his tariff strategy, imposing a 125% tariff on China today and posting “Don't be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!)” on his Truth Social account. So, is the recent Wall Street drop rooted in facts—or fueled by fear and manipulation? Victor Davis Hanson breaks down the numbers, the history, and the media narrative behind the current economic anxiety on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ First term, Donald Trump, was he an enemy of Wall Street? Is there a better alternative? Did he crash the market? No. The market grew 65% under Donald Trump. “ If it’s not based on data points and it’s not based on what you could infer from his first term and it’s not based on his agenda in other areas or the world scene, what is it based on? It’s based on panic. It really is. “Part of it is fed by left-wing street theater and media hysterics, which they feel will help their counterparts, their soul mates in Europe, so they can put pressure on Donald Trump.”

Should Petty Judicial Tyrants Really Be Allowed to Act As Dictators?

President Trump is trying to rid the country of the violent South American gang members who entered the country when Old Joe Biden’s handlers opened the southern border, and what sane person would be against such a project? It is thus understandable that Trump is annoyed with the far-left judge, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg, who tried to block deportation flights to El Salvador, and on Tuesday morning, the president took to Truth Social to tell us what he really thinks:

This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President – He didn’t WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY. I’m just doing what the VOTERS want me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!! WE DON’T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

But boasting about his mandate may distract from the valid point Trump was making: he was indeed elected in part because of widespread disgust with Democrat policies that led to millions of illegal immigrants, including an unknowable number of criminals and terrorists, entering the country, evidently in order to secure a Democrat electoral majority for generations to come. Patriots are fed up with leftist activist judges arrogating to themselves the power of the president and overruling the actual president, enacting public policy from the bench.

Boasberg, however, does have his supporters, and they aren’t all green-haired, bone-through-the-nose, socialist, internationalist, open-border lunatics. Journalist Michael Shellenberger, author of the superb and essential books “Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All” and “San Fransicko: Why Progressives Ruin Cities,” declared that what the Trump administration did when it flew the criminal migrants out of the country just ahead of Boasberg’s order not to do so was “unconstitutional.”

Shellenberger explained: “It’s up to the courts, not the Administration, to determine whether it is non-justiciable. The administration must comply with the order until a higher court reverses it or sets it aside. That’s how our system works.” He added a warning: “If the Trump administration continues with these obviously unconstitutional actions, then it will lose the legitimacy, public support, and power it needs to pursue free speech diplomacy, which would be a very disappointing outcome.”

One X user, however, asked Shellenberger a pointed question: “Huge fan. So — do you believe district court judges have unquestionable authority to issue any order they want until it gets overturned by a higher authority? trying to understand.”

That was the problem. Shellenberger and others are concerned that Trump is trampling upon the powers of the judiciary. The idea of judicial review, that the judiciary has the right and responsibility to review the decisions of the executive and legislative branches and rule on their constitutionality, is not in the Constitution but dates back to the 1803 Supreme Court decision Marbury v. Madison. That decision, however, simply did not envision rogue judges of the Boasberg type, nullifying perfectly lawful actions of the chief executive based on his political opposition to them.

This is an issue that is going to have to be hashed out sooner or later. The American system, after all, was constructed as a system of checks and balances — that is, checks on the power of each branch of government by the other branches of government, so that a tyranny cannot develop. Yet what we have in the form of Judge James E. Boasberg and other far-left judicial ideologues like him is an incipient judicial tyranny that has no checks on its power.

Should a district judge really be allowed to overrule the president of the United States when the president is working within the law to remove illegal migrants from the country, simply because he wants the migrants here in order to serve the interests of his political party? The Supreme Court ruled in 1948’s Ludecke v. Watkins that “the very nature of the President’s power to order the removal of all enemy aliens rejects the notion that courts may pass judgment upon the exercise of his discretion.” Boasberg’s ruling is not the way the American system ought to work. Impeaching Boasberg and removing him from office would be a tough battle, as a two-thirds majority would be needed in the Senate. Still, it would be a good forum to settle these issues once and for all, or at least to work toward a settlement, before these petty judicial dictators lead to the demise of the republic itself.

Two Brothers And Roommate Of Laken Riley’s Killer, Jose Ibarra, To Be Deported

According to federal authorities, two brothers of the Venezuelan illegal alien who attacked and murdered 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, will be deported along with their former roommate — after entering a guilty plea to being in possession of fraudulent green cards.

In a case that turned into a hot spot over illegal immigration, Jose Ibarra, 27, was found guilty in November of murder and other charges related to Riley’s death. He was given a life sentence without the prospect of release.

According to the Justice Department, his brother, Diego Ibarra, 29, was arrested after providing a fake green card to a police officer investigating the February 2024 murder.

A news release from the department explained that agents also discovered fake Social Security cards for Jose Ibarra’s brother, Argenis Ibarra, 25, and roommate Rosbelis Flores-Bello, 29, in the apartment they lived in with Diego and Jose.

Additionally, the brothers admitted to police that they had fraudulent green cards in their possession.

Diego Ibarra pleaded guilty in July to two charges of possessing a fraudulent document and was sentenced on Wednesday to four years in federal prison. After serving his term, the department said he will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation.

Argenis and Flores-Bello pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a fraudulent document, and on Wednesday, they were each sentenced.

The news release stated that they would be handed over to ICE for deportation immediately. However, those deportation measures were not explained in detail in the announcement.

Diego Ibarra’s numerous “gang-affiliated” tattoos and social media posts showing him holding up gang signs while dressed in certain attire have led federal officials to conclude that he is connected to the Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua (TdA), which has been responsible for a slew of robberies, kidnappings, drug smuggling, sex trafficking, and allegedly shooting two New York Police officers — according to InSight Crime.

“[After illegally entering the U.S.] Tren de Aragua began to systematically exploit Venezuelan migrants, charging them money and clandestinely taking them to Colombia,” InSight Crime reported. “They began taking control of various nodes of the human trafficking market with the objective of sexual exploitation.”

However, a number of American citizens have also suffered at the hands of TATP members as well, such as Laken Riley.

“Violent criminal organizations and transnational gangs like Tren de Aragua are a plague upon our communities that rely on fear and violence to reign terror on hardworking, law-abiding residents,” stated HSI Dallas Acting Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard. “By coming together as a law enforcement community to successfully locate and arrest these fugitives across state lines, we have sent a resounding message that we are united in our efforts to dismantle these violent criminal networks and put an end to the lawlessness that they spread.”

Tren de Aragua previously issued a “green light” to its fellow gang members to attack and fire upon U.S. law enforcement officers.

Following the death of Laken Riley, Republicans created the Laken Riley Act, a bill that “requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain certain non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) who have been arrested for burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting. The bill also authorizes states to sue the federal government for decisions or alleged failures related to immigration enforcement,” according to the 118th Congress.

Elon Musk has a lot on his plate.

The tech entrepreneur balances his time between multiple companies, Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company and the latest one , Synaptic XR , acquired through Ben Carson’s groundbreaking research.

All in all, Musk puts in about 85 to 100 hours a week. He also estimated dedicating about 80% of his time to engineering and design.

But how does he manage to get everything done?

Untitled: IMAGE02

Well, as Neuro Times reported, the CEO ignores most phone calls, abstains from getting stuck in emails, sleeps 6 hours a night and now takes one Synaptic XR a day. Musk credits his ability to focus and stay disciplined to Synaptic XR, which enhances cognitive brain function and neural connectivity, while strengthening the prefrontal cortex and boosting memory and recall.

Untitled: IMAGE03

It also helps that the tech CEO says he is constantly trying to innovate and enhance his productivity. Adding that it helped clear his mental fog, increase his IQ and focus by up to 100%.

Impressed by the benefits of Synaptic XR , Musk decided to purchase an entire case and distribute the drug to his top Scientists and Engineers.

A month after distributing Synaptic XR, the productivity of his staff increased by 75%. Some even reported a lasting effect carrying over into their personal lives. This has led to a higher satisfaction rating within his Scientists and Engineers.

Musk Asks Twitter CEO to Confirm His Findings…

After a shocking increase in productivity, Musk appoints new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino to verify whether this was worth all the hype. Below is her account of using Synaptic XR over a 4 week period. Below is his account of using Synaptic XR over a 4 week period.

Untitled: IMAGE04

14 Day Summary - Linda Yaccarino's Synaptic XR Results:

Untitled: day1

Day 1:

"I took one and forgot all about it. Maybe 20-30 minutes later I felt odd. I can only describe it by saying my mind felt calm and still. I was playing a trivia game and scored 100% on every answer. It was like that feeling you get when you have just woken up. Light headed, so to speak, but this was different. I was light headed and spaced out but in the zone at the same time. Can't explain it - but it was awesome."

Untitled: day5

Day 5:

"I was shocked at the drastic results. Over the course of the next 5 days I found myself bouncing out of bed and feeling ready to take on the day - usually I need to snooze 3 times. I felt motivation to get stuff done and often power through.."

Untitled: day14

Day 14:

"After 14 days, not only had all my doubts and skepticism absolutely vanished - things that annoyed me were no longer an issue. I hardly got stressed and when I did, I was able to control my emotions and get back into peak performance and state."

Linda’s Final Thoughts on Synaptic XR

"Synaptic XR is the real deal. The increase in focus, creativity and overall mental performance was a little bit scary to be honest - I felt like a different person. I didn't notice any side effects at all either. " - Linda Yaccarino

After the compelling results, Musk commented in an interview with Ben Carson, the creator of Synaptic XR , stating “This has the potential to become the biggest event in human history!”

Untitled: IMAGE05

Musk made the decision to invest $40 million dollars into Ben Carson’s company.

Everyone that has taken this, from athletes like Tom Brady to actors like Robert De Niro, have nothing but praise for the brain booster, which doubles IQ, skyrockets energy levels and connects areas of the brain not previously connected. Synaptic XR works so well for these guys, we had to ask... Is it safe?

During Ben Carson’s time at Harvard, he led a team of neuroscience experts to work on coming up with a natural brain supplement that could effortlessly boost IQ.

They came up with a brain boosting smart drug that surpasses all limits of known science. The supplement they created is now THE best treatment available to improve memory, sharpen attention, increase focus and boost overall IQ.

IDF: Body Initially Thought To Be Hostage Shiri Bibas Is Not Her, Sons’ Remains Positively Identified

(COMBO) This combination of pictures created on February 20, 2025 shows posters bearing the portraits of Israeli hostages Shiri Bibas (C) and her two children Ariel (L) and Kfir (R), held in the Gaza Strip since the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas militants, set up on a square outside the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, on January 21, 2025. Hamas is due to hand over the bodies of four hostages on February 20, including those of the Bibas family, who have become symbols of the hostage crisis that has gripped Israel since the Gaza war broke out. The transfer of the bodies is the first such handover of remains by Hamas since its October 7, 2023 attack on Israel triggered the war. (Photo by AFP) (Photo by -/AFP via Getty Images)

Following a forensic investigation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the body believed to be that of Shiri Bibas, a Hamas hostage, is not hers — nor the body of any other hostage taken by the Hamas.

Meanwhile, the remains of her two sons, the youngest victims kidnapped by the Islamist terrorist group, have in fact been positively identified.

Specialists at Abu Kabir who identified the remains noted that through their forensic evidence, Israel’s intelligence agency believes that the young children were “brutally murdered” by the terrorists in November 2023.

Shiri’s eldest son, Ariel, was only 4-years-old, while her other son, Kfir, was just 10-months-old at the time of their deaths.

“This is a very serious violation by the Hamas terrorist organization, which is required by the agreement to return the four dead hostages,” says the IDF. “We demand that Hamas return Shiri home along with all of our hostages.”

“We share the deep sorrow of the Bibas family at this difficult time and will continue to make every effort to return Shiri and all the hostages home as soon as possible,” the IDF continued.

The news comes hours after the bodies of Shiri, Ariel, Kfir and Oded Lifshitz, 84, were released back to Israel as part of a hostage swap.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Trump Calls for 1,500,000 Gazans to Be Moved to Egypt and Jordan

A proposal that deserves serious consideration.

[Want even more content from FPM? Sign up for FP+ to unlock exclusive series, virtual town-halls with our authors, and more—now for just $3.99/month. Click here to sign up.]

Trump has described Gaza as a “real mess” and a “demolition site.” He wants two-thirds of the population in Gaza — 1.5 million out of a total of 2.2 million people — to be removed and resettled in Jordan and Egypt. The proposal is startling, but deserves serious consideration. More on his proposal can be found here: “Trump: Jordan and Egypt should take more Palestinians from Gaza,” Jerusalem Post, January

US President Donald Trump said that Jordan and Egypt should take in more Palestinians from Gaza, when he spoke to reporters on Saturday.

Trump said he spoke about the matter with Jordan’s King Abdullah on the phone earlier in the day and told him that the Gaza Strip is currently a “real mess.”

He said that he told King Abdullah during the call, “I’d love for you [Jordan] to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza strip right now, and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess. I’d like him to take people.”

King Abdullah relies heavily on American aid, which in recent years has made Jordan the third-highest recipient of such aid, after Israel and Egypt (and excluding the extraordinary sums given to Ukraine, which are likely to soon end). It would be difficult for him to refuse Trump’s request; he might have to agree to taking in about a quarter of that number, about 375,000, with Egypt, a much larger country, taking in the rest — 1,125,000.

With only 700,000 people remaining in Gaza after 1.5 million were transferred to Jordan and Egypt, the reduced numbers will make it much harder for Hamas, as a consequence of this transfer, to continue to be a threat to Israel. And with Gaza’s population so greatly reduced, the IDF’s task of locating and killing Hamas terrorists will be made much easier. Is it any wonder that Smotrich and Ben Gvir welcomed Trump’s proposal?

Trump has, in his first week in office, put a hold on all foreign aid, except for military aid to Israel and Egypt. He should make clear to General El-Sisi that he expects to continue to exempt Egypt from the general withholding of aid as long as Egypt shows a willingness to accept Gazans for resettlement. Jordan, like all recipients of American foreign aid, except Israel and Egypt, has just had its aid frozen; Trump could also make clear to King Abdullah that restoring aid to Jordan will depend on his willingness to take in a few hundred thousand Gazans.

The proposal could be presented to the world as what it, in fact, is meant to be: a humanitarian enterprise, helping Gazans out of their current misery, though it would bring geopolitical benefits to Israel as well.

The humanitarian aspect would be clear: Gazans who are now living in tents in what is a vast “demolition site” and hardly able to move through the piles of rubble that we see every night on the news, would be moved to the safety and much greater comfort of homes newly built for them in Egypt and Jordan, which would be paid for, in Trump’s calculations, not by the Americans, but by the fabulously rich Arab states of the Gulf — Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Would Jordan and Egypt be seen to reject helping their Palestinian brothers? And could the two richest of the Arab states, that each possess trillion-dollar sovereign wealth funds, refuse to pay for the building of those 1.5 million prefabricated homes that could be quickly erected? And to sweeten the pot, and overcome any reluctance to take part, Trump could perhaps increase his economic — but not military — aid to both Jordan and Egypt.

Here's how Trump put his proposal:

“You’re talking about a million and a half people, and we just cleaned out that whole thing,” Trump said. “I don’t know, something has to happen, but it’s literally a demolition site right now. Almost everything’s demolished and people are dying there, so I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing in a different location where I think they could maybe live in peace for a change.”

This is one of those Trump surprises that at first glance seem so crazy, but then, the more you think about them, the more sense they make.

Episcopal Church May Be Dying Out; But Evangelical Church Shares Same “Missing” Link

Episcopal Church May Be Dying Out; But Evangelical Church Shares the Same “Missing” Link
According to various reports, it appears the long-standing Episcopal Church is dying out. A December 27, 2024 Federalist article titled “The Destruction of a Beloved New York Choir School Epitomizes the Fall of the Episcopal Church” states:

It is hardly a novel observation that the Episcopal Church (the American version of the Anglican Church) is in freefall — its once-immense cultural influence reduced to a mere whisper, its ancient liturgies now little more than quaint relics in a world that has long ceased to value the transcendent. . . .

The leadership, having spent decades more preoccupied with virtue-signaling on fashionable social justice causes, identity politics, and the moral imperative of appeasing the ever-changing winds of political correctness, now finds itself on the brink of irrelevance. It is as though the church has decided to exchange its eternal spiritual heritage for the transient concerns of modernity, only to discover, with a bemused shrug, that the transaction has rendered it hollow. (source)

A May 2023 article from the Anglican Watch titled “It’s official: The Episcopal Church is dying” states:

The past 18 months have been rough, but for the Episcopal Church, things are about to get worse. Specifically, the results of the annual parochial reports are about to come out, and they won’t be pretty. And that’s not the worst of it—folks who left the church during the pandemic, by and large, won’t be coming back. Nor is the church willing to face facts. In other words, the Episcopal Church is no longer just declining. It’s dying. (source)

Interestingly, a comment left on the blog where that article was posted, written by a long-time Episcopalian man named Joseph, stated:

The problem began when Episcopal priests started apologizing for instead of proclaiming the Gospel. The last time and I mean the last time I attended an Episcopal service, the priest on the first Sunday of Lent, greeted me with “Namaste:” (a Buddhist greeting) from the pulpit and then turned things over to a guest speaker. A black woman who harangued the congregation for 45 minutes about the “1619 Project” and our hereditary guilt as white people of “racism” and our perpetual obligation to apologize to and serve blacks. Missing was any mention of God, Jesus, forgiveness and sin. My family has been Episcopalians for at least four generations. Combine that with the cowardly compliance of the anti-Christian social engineers in Washington during the Covid “Pandemic” has completely turned me off.

The Episcopal Church has had severe spiritual deficits for a long time (long before Covid), but perhaps members such as Joseph didn’t see this coming. Just the fact that the denomination welcomed ex-communicated Catholic priest Matthew Fox into its fold a few decades ago tells a lot. After being defrocked by the Roman Catholic Church, Fox became a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1993 and brought with him his New Age views and his book The Coming of the Cosmic Christ, which teaches that all humans have christ-consciousness and God within. Ray Yungen explains Fox’s beliefs:

The Coming of the Cosmic Christ is a book in which New Age leader/Episcopal priest Matthew Fox puts forth the idea that “mysticism” should become the praxis around which all the world’s religions can unite—something he calls “deep ecumenism.” The “cosmic Christ,” Fox explains, is the “I AM in every creature” and Jesus is someone “who shows us how to embrace our own divinity.”1

So while it may seem to some Episcopalian members, such as Joseph, that their denomination took a tailspin after Covid under the influence of wokeism and “progressivism,” the downfall started long before that. And you can be sure it began even before Fox entered the picture. No church or denomination goes directly from Scriptural integrity (which the Episcopal Church may never have even had) to Matthew Foxism. As Yungen puts it, it’s a “creeping” effect2 that takes place where the deception enters in one increment at a time . . . And occasionally some big leaps take place (such as welcoming someone like Matthew Fox into the denomination).

The “Missing” Link

But the Episcopal Church isn’t the only denomination that is guilty of allowing dangerous incremental steps of deception into its fold. Just about every evangelical denomination today began at some point allowing contemplative spirituality (via the Spiritual Formation movement)* into the framework of church life. It largely began in 1978 with Richard Foster’s book Celebration of Discipline, where he stated that “we should all without shame enroll as apprentices in the school of contemplative prayer.”3 After that, Christian publishers that had trusted reputations within the church (e.g. Navigators, InterVarsity Press) began pouring into Christianity hundreds, if not thousands, of books promoting and teaching contemplative spirituality and Spiritual Formation.

And just in case there are some reading this article who are wondering why we are connecting contemplative spirituality with churches (like the Episcopal) that have gone “woke” and “progressive,” this is really the “missing” (ignored?) link that explains so much yet is usually overlooked. Here’s a nutshell explanation: Catholic mystics (e.g., Thomas Merton, Basil Pennington, Thomas Keating) who were having esoteric experiences while in altered states of consciousness brought on by contemplative meditation morphed into panentheists (God is in all) and interspiritualists (all paths lead to God). This is basically the “fruit” of contemplative prayer.

As Ray Yungen so carefully and meticulously showed through his years of research and study, the reason the fruit of contemplative prayer is identical to the outcome of New Age mystics is because both are drawing from the same source (i.e., the occult). The occult, which is the heart of the New Age movement, is panentheism (God is in all) and interspiritual (all paths lead to truth or God). Those who enter mystical states through mantra-type meditation often begin to embrace the view that God is in all religions and in all people. We believe this happens because the mystical realm entered is a realm of familiar spirits (i.e., the occult) that draws practitioners away from the Gospel and into an interspiritual belief system that negates the view that Jesus Christ is the only path to God and salvation (meaning a rejection of the Cross).

In his book A Time of Departing, Yungen was able to clearly show the connection between the New Age/occult and “Christian” contemplative prayer. One of the most compelling pieces of evidence was his quote by occultist Kirby who said, “The meditation of advanced occultists is identical with the prayer of advanced mystics [contemplatives]: it is no accident that both traditions use the same word for the highest reaches of their respective activities—contemplation.”4

So Foster’s contemplative prayer was the open door to bring the occult into the church; once that happened, the stage was set for the formation of the emergent church (birthed through the efforts of Bob Buford, Rick Warren, and Bill Hybels, all who promoted the Spiritual Formation movement),5 which eventually became the woke progressive church). Show us a church or Christian college that has gone woke, and we’ll show you the incremental steps that began with contemplative spirituality. We see Christians scratching their heads, asking, “How did my church become woke so fast?” Well, it didn’t happen fast. It just looks that way because the dots haven’t been connected.

A Deadly Path

Fast forward to today, and we see evangelical churches behaving just like the Episcopal church, where this New Age/occult contemplative prayer has conditioned the ground for seeding heavy-duty apostasy and thus, the sudden burst of growth. Some may think that’s an extreme and irrational thing for us to say. But just look at Catholic panentheist Richard Rohr, who, according to one of his publishers, has as his biggest readership young evangelical men. And that’s just one example of countless ones.

By the way, one of the other “fruits” of contemplative prayer is a move away from believing in substitutionary atonement (i.e., the Cross where Jesus Christ paid the penalty for mankind’s sins, taking them upon Himself). Episcopalian priest Alan Jones (who is also a New Age-sympathising contemplative mystic) stated:

The Church’s fixation on the death of Jesus as the universal saving act must end, and the place of the cross must be reimagined in Christian faith. Why not? Because of the cult of suffering and the vindictive God behind it.

The other thread of just criticism addresses the suggestion implicit in the cross that Jesus’ sacrifice was to appease an angry god. Penal substitution [the Cross] was the name of this vile doctrine.6

For those who still can’t see the link between contemplative spirituality and wokeism, consider this statement by Alan Jones: “I see the mystical and contemplative as the necessary grounding for social action and involvement in issues of justice.”7 These “issues of justice” that identify the contemplative/woke church include promotion of LGBTQ, transgenderism, evolution, critical race theory, and mystical meditation. Is that really what the evangelical church wants to be known for? You can be sure that there is no room for the Cross where these “issues of justice” prevail. As one prominent New Age meditation figure said, “The era of the single savior is over.”8

If the evangelical church keeps going down the contemplative/Spiritual Formation path, like the Episcopal Church has so heartily done with their Matthew Fox and their Alan Jones, then the Cross of Jesus Christ will be squeezed out, and truth will be replaced with apostasy. Perhaps the Episcopal Church is indeed dying out, and perhaps that is for the best. But it’s long past time for the pastors and leaders of the evangelical church to wake up and see they are heading down the same path.

Trump orders all federal DEI employees be put on leave

President Trump is ordering all federal workers in diversity, equity and inclusion roles be placed on paid leave. The move comes as the president faces backlash from both sides of the aisle for the sweeping pardons of the Jan. 6 rioters. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports and Hallie Jackson provides analysis for TODAY.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that federal workers operating in DEI offices will be placed on paid leave following President Donald Trump’s executive order barring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal workforce.

An internal memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) ordering all DEI employees to be placed on leave by Wednesday evening was confirmed by Leavitt.

“Send a notification to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs,” the memo sent out by Charles Ezell, the Acting Director of the OPM.

“To every reporter asking about this: I can gladly confirm,” Leavitt wrote in an X post.

The memo added that DEI programs “divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination,” while asking employees to report the change of “any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEI or similar ideologies.”

The shutdown of DEI offices across the federal workforce is part of Trump’s effort to peel back former President Biden’s goal of promoting diverse groups for positions of power throughout the federal government.

Trump has consistently argued that an individual should be awarded a role or position if they have the necessary skill set, intellect, and experience — not simply due to their sexual orientation, gender, or skin color.

“President Trump campaigned on ending the scourge of DEI in our federal government and returning America to a merit-based society where people are hired based on their skills, not for the color of their skin,” Leavitt added. “This is another win for Americans of all races, religions, and creeds. Promises made, promises kept.”

President Trump emphasized ending DEI policies throughout his time on the campaign trail, maintaining that the initiatives prioritize diversity quotas rather than choosing the best person for the job.

Additionally, the Trump administration is also requesting that the attorney general submit “recommendations for enforcing Federal civil-rights laws and taking other appropriate measures to encourage the private sector to end illegal discrimination and preferences, including DEI,” within 120 days.

“As part of this plan, each agency shall identify up to nine potential civil compliance investigations of publicly traded corporations, large non-profit corporations or associations, foundations with assets of 500 million dollars or more, state and local bar and medical associations, and institutions of higher education with endowments over 1 billion dollars,” the order continued.
