At least six people have been killed after a helicopter carrying a family, two adults and three children, who were reportedly from Spain, crashed into the Hudson river on Thursday afternoon — according to the Associated Press.

The sixth death was that of the helicopter pilot.

Officials with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that a helicopter was in the river as of 3:40 p.m. local time.

“Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas,” according to a statement from the NYPD.

In addition to the Spanish family of five, the pilot’s body was also found inside.

Witnesses informed the press that they observed the helicopter “split in half” before it crashed near Pier 40. Additionally, the aircraft was reportedly emitting a distinct “thudding” noise prior to its descent.

“I heard a loud snap … I looked over … and I could see the helicopter falling on its side and splashing into the water,” an unnamed witness told ABC7. “I didn’t see anyone come out.”

Currently, it remains uncertain whether the helicopter was operated for tourism purposes or privately owned. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined, as investigations are still in their early stages.

Rescue and recovery operations are still ongoing.

Online videos showed the helicopter sinking into the river as emergency teams rushed to the scene.

The chopper appeared to be a “N216MH – a Bell 206L-4,” according to Flight Radar.

More than 32 people have been killed in helicopter crashes in New York City since 1977.

Press Secy. Leavitt Hits Back At Nancy Pelosi Over Resurfaced 1996 Video Amid China Tariff Debate

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt threw shade at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, highlighting previous comments that the liberal former Congresswoman has made about tariffs.

Leavitt cited Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) previous position on tariffs, notably the United States’ trade deficit with communist China, from nearly 30 years ago — arguing that she should be delighted with the Trump administration’s “retaliatory tariff” imposed on China.

In a recently resurfaced video from 1996, Pelosi stood on the House floor and explained her reasons for retaliating against China economically, including the fact that China imposed an average tariff of 35% on all goods imported from the United States and only allowed about 2% of US exports to cross the border into the country. In exchange, the United States had imposed only a 2% tariff on Chinese imports and permitted one-third of the items manufactured in China to be imported. As a result of that gap, 10,000,000 Chinese jobs were supported by imports from the United States, while only 170,000 American jobs were supported by Chinese trade. That, she added, was an untenable “status quo.”

“On this day, your member of Congress could have drawn a line and said to the President of the United States, ‘Do something about this U.S.-China trade relationship that is a job loser for the United States,’” she said at the time.

During the briefing, Leavitt referenced the clip and perked up, saying: “Nancy Pelosi said, ‘How far does China have to go? How much more oppression? How big is the trade deficit? How many jobs have to be lost for American workers? How much dangerous proliferation has to exist before members of this House of Representatives will say, ‘I will not endorse the status quo?’”

“Well, President Trump is finally answering her call,” Leavitt continued. “Nancy Pelosi can thank President Trump today for the 104% retaliatory tariff that will be going into effect on China.”

Trump Signs Executive Order Targeting ‘Anti-American Ideology’ At Smithsonian Museums

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting “anti-American Ideology” in the Smithsonian Institution.

On Thursday, Trump signed an order aimed at removing “anti-American ideology” from the Smithsonian Institution and restoring monuments that were removed during the past five years.

The executive order, titled “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History,” directs Vice President JD Vance to remove “improper partisan ideology” from the Smithsonian, which the order claims has promoted the idea that American history is “inherently racist, sexist, oppressive, or otherwise irredeemably flawed.”

“Over the past decade, Americans have witnessed a concerted and widespread effort to rewrite our Nation’s history, replacing objective facts with a distorted narrative driven by ideology rather than truth,” the order states.

“This revisionist movement seeks to undermine the remarkable achievements of the United States by casting its founding principles and historical milestones in a negative light.”

According to the Smithsonian Institution website, they were founded in 1846 as a public-private partnership.

The order states that one aspect of this “anti-American ideology” the administration plans to address is how the Biden Administration supported training by an organization that pushes for undermining “Western foundations” at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, where Park Rangers were told their racial identity should govern how they interpret history to tourists.

Another issue the order will address is the American Art Museum, which currently features an exhibit that purports to show how “sculpture has been a powerful tool in promoting scientific racism” and claims that the United States has “used race to establish and maintain systems of power, privilege, and disenfranchisement.”

Several more facets of this “anti-American ideology” will be addressed, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture which has proclaimed that “hard work,” “individualism,” and “the nuclear family” are aspects of “White culture.”

The American Women’s History Museum currently intends to recognize biological male athletes who participate in women’s sports. The decision forbids the museum from including transgender-identifying men, stating that the financing should “celebrate the achievements of women” and “not recognize men as women in any respect.”

It also directs Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to identify monuments under federal control that were torn down to “perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history” and “take action to reinstate” them. Burgum is also tasked with ensuring that current monuments “do not contain descriptions, depictions, or other content that inappropriately disparage Americans past or living (including persons living in colonial times), and instead focus on the greatness of the achievements and progress of the American people.”

Victor Davis Hanson: Democrats’ 10-Part Strategy to Stopping Trump (At Any Cost)

Despite their unprecedented unpopularity, Democrats aren’t operating in a nihilistic vacuum. They are currently carrying out a a highly organized counter-agenda. Victor Davis Hanson breaks down this agenda into 10 key themes on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” Democrats think “ Donald Trump must be considered, as Chris Matthews just said, a Mussolini-like figure. He must be opposed in every aspect. He must be demonized. Everything he does is evil. And by extension, the same is true of Elon Musk. “ The second thing I’ve noticed, very quickly, is that ICE is wrong. You have to stop ICE from deporting anybody, even if they’re a criminal. “ There should be no cuts. No cuts in the federal government. We have a $1.7 trillion deficit. … We’re not going to discuss it. All we know is there should be no layoffs.”

At Least 33 Dead as Tornadoes Ravage Central U.S.

At Least 33 Dead as Tornadoes Ravage Central US
Sunday, 16 March 2025 05:58 AM EDT

At least 33 people have been killed and dozens more injured when tornadoes and violent storms raked across the central United States, as forecasters warned more severe weather was expected Sunday.

Local news showed roofs torn off homes and large trucks overturned.

Eight people died in Kansas in a crash involving more than 50 vehicles, caused by low visibility during a "severe dust storm," local police said.

Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed 12 storm-related fatalities and shared images of boats piled on top of one another at a marina destroyed by the weather.

The state police reported downed trees and power lines, as well as damage to buildings, with some areas severely impacted by "tornadoes, thunderstorms and large hail."

"It was the scariest thing I've ever been through, it was so fast, our ears were about to burst," Alicia Wilson, who was evacuated from her home in Missouri, told TV station KSDK.

Further south in Mississippi, the state's governor said six deaths were reported and that three people were missing late Saturday.

Meanwhile in Texas, local authorities told AFP that four people had died in vehicle accidents linked to dust storms and fires that reduced visibility on the roads.

In the neighboring state of Arkansas, officials said three people had died and 29 had been injured in the storm.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared a state of emergency in response and said she had spoken with President Donald Trump.

"He said to tell the people of Arkansas that he loves them and that he and his administration are here to help with whatever they need following last night's tornadoes," Sanders wrote on the social media platform X.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned of "severe thunderstorms" from the Lower Great Lakes to the Southeast on Sunday.

"The hazards associated with these thunderstorms include frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes," it said in its latest forecast bulletin.

- More tornadoes forecast -

At least 250,000 homes and businesses across the central United States were without power by early Sunday morning, according to tracking site poweroutage.us.

More tornadoes were forecast for the central Gulf Coast states, including Mississippi and Tennessee.

"Numerous significant tornadoes, some of which may be long-track and potentially violent, should continue into this evening," the NWS said on Saturday.

Tornadoes are spinning columns of air that touch the ground from massive cumulonimbus thunderstorm clouds.

The central and southern states of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas get the most violent ones due to unique geographical and meteorological conditions.

Dubbed "Tornado Alley," this is where winds of widely varying temperatures meet in volatile, potent storm clouds, with most storms occurring from May to June.

In 2024, 54 people died in tornado-related incidents in the United States, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Dr. Mehmet Oz took center stage on Capitol Hill to prescribe his vision for the U.S. health care system.

On Friday, President Donald Trump’s nominee to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid testified before the Senate Finance Committee.

Dr. Oz outlined his vision for making healthcare more affordable and efficient for millions of Americans.

The former heart surgeon turned television personality emphasized the need to strengthen healthcare while ensuring its long-term sustainability.

“We have a generational opportunity to fix our health care system and help people stay healthy for longer,” he said. “That’s why President Trump wants to love and cherish Medicare and Medicaid because he believes every American should get the care they want, need and deserve. To achieve this vision, CMS should work with Congress to find efficiencies that will help stabilize our insurance markets, which will make it easier and more affordable for Americans to adopt healthy lifestyles.”

Oz also voiced his support for work requirements for Medicaid recipients, saying it would help ensure resources go to those most in need.

While speaking on prescription drug prices, Oz reaffirmed President Trump’s goal of lowering costs for both the government and the American people

“President Trump has been very clear on this. We want to reduce the cost of medications to our government and to the American people, the co-pay. That’s not happening right now. We can do better,” Oz stated.

When questioned about a Republican budget plan that could impact healthcare coverage, Oz said he had not reviewed the specifics, but assured lawmakers he did not want children to lose insurance.

Oz then defended Medicare drug price negotiations, saying he would explore every option to reduce costs.

“I’m going to look, as the president has instructed me already to every single way that we can reduce drug prices. There are lots of options available. I feel compelled to pursue every one of them.”

With a Republican majority in the Senate, Oz is expected to be confirmed and oversee Medicare, Medicaid and other health programs serving more than 150 million people in the United States.

A bill to ban biological males from participating in school athletic competitions designated for female athletes failed to advance Monday night, with Democrats standing united on the vote.

A test vote on the bill failed to gain the required 60 votes needed to advance in the chamber as senators stuck to their party lines in a 51-45 vote tally.

The bill sought to determine Title IX protections “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” The vote comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February cutting off federal funding for any state that did not comply with banning biological males playing in female sports. The order stated that an athlete’s “sex” is their gender assigned at birth.

However, Republicans in Congress still have the option of amending the 1972 Title IX law, which protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

“Around the country we have seen men — biological men who identify as women — take up spaces and medals in athletics meant for actual women,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune, (R-S.D.), adding, “This is a matter of fairness and equality.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) condemned Democrats for blocking the bill as well.

“This is far from over,” he wrote on X. “I’ll NEVER stop fighting to protect women and girls.”

Democrats claimed the bill as a distraction from more “pressing issues” and a federal overreach into school decisions.

“What Republicans are doing today is inventing a problem to stir up a culture war and divide people against each other,” Sen. Brian Schatz, (D-Hawaii), said in a floor speech.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, (D-Wis.), said, “This is a decision for sports leagues to thoughtfully craft policy that takes seriously what is best for all players, not blanket mandates that will undoubtedly have unintended consequences for the safety of all students.”

After Trump’s executive order went into effect, the NCAA changed its participation policy for transgender athletes to be banned from competition in women’s sports.

Treasury Secretary Bessent ‘Shocked’ at Trump, Zelenskiy Argument

United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sits down for an exclusive interview with Bloomberg's David Westin after a shouting match between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Bessent discusses the fallout and the future of the US-Ukraine relationship, as well as the status of tariffs and inflation. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent characterized the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to the White House on Friday as “unacceptable.”  “It’s very difficult to do an economic deal with a leader who doesn’t want to do a peace deal,” Bessent said Friday in an interview with Bloomberg Television. Bessent’s comments came shortly after President Donald Trump’s aim to sign a critical minerals deal with Zelenskiy unraveled in a stormy Oval Office confrontation between the two leaders. The public spat was largely over whether Zelenskiy was sufficiently grateful for US assistance. Zelenskiy had been seeking greater security guarantees from the US in exchange for signing on to the pact. The deal didn’t offer explicit security guarantees, instead focusing on the economic partnership between the US and Ukraine. Zelenskiy pressed the point that the minerals deal wouldn’t do enough to deter further Russian aggression. “Putin will never stop and will go further and further,” Zelenskiy said, adding that the Russian leader “hates Ukrainians” and wants to destroy the country. “We can do it, but it’s not enough,” he added of the deal. Bessent called the Zelenskiy argument “one of the great diplomatic own goals in history,” referring to an instance in soccer when a player accidentally scores a goal for the opposing side. “I was shocked, shocked that President Zelenskiy would come into the Oval Office and behave like this, speak to the president, speak to the vice president — but more importantly, disrespect the American people — like this,” Bessent said. The Treasury chief went on to say the proposed minerals agreement would have been a “fantastic deal.” The proposal would share revenue from future extraction of government-owned minerals and energy resources such as gas, as well as from terminals and port infrastructure, according to a draft text seen by Bloomberg. That would apply to new projects rather than existing ones, and could require hefty investment in mines, as well as any processing facilities.

Snarky Europeans Scowl at Truth-Teller Vance

Meet the addicts who know their habit is killing them - but who can't resist another fix.

Europeans sat aghast after Vice-President J.D. Vance dared to suggest that their socialist democracies had become illiberal, intolerant, authoritarian—and on the wrong side of global populism.

Like some addict who knows his habit is killing him, and yet who cannot resist another fix, so the Euros war on fossil fuels and hollow out their middle classes.

They keep borders open to massive, illiberal illegal immigration. Yet they know the result bankrupts social services, spike crime, and turn “diversity” into dangerous ethnic and religious chauvinism and contempt for generous host countries.

The recent Euro Ministers in Vance’s audience both publicly and to their left-wing monopolistic media complained bitterly about the Americans’ “interference” in their internal affairs.

How odd!—given that this comes from Europe and the UK that saw ads for British Laborites to fly to America to interfere in our recent American elections, and lying British subject Christopher Steele’s pathetic dossier that sought to warp the 2016 election and subvert the ensuing Trump presidency.

In 2016 the Ukraine sought to interfere in the U.S. election and its ambassador wrote a pro-Hillary Clinton op-ed opposing Trump.

Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss routinely bankrolls leftist U.S. candidates and causes—as the E.U. targets U.S. tech companies to censor any content they find antithetical to their leftist agendas.

Similar to their hysterical, out-of-power and impotent Democrat counterparts here at home, the Euros’ strategy of regaining global influence and power is not to become introspective, self-critical and open to reform.

They prefer instead to scream, stonewall, and threaten—in hopes of damaging what they feel is the malign influence of the Trump colossus.

Yet the more outraged at critics, at home and abroad, the European ruling elite becomes, the more the European Union’s wealth, authority, and power decline on the world stage.

And rather than open up their societies and economies while closing their borders to illegal immigrants, the embittered EU apparatchiks can only gnash their teeth at the U.S. in general. And in particular it rages at the Trump administration for offering it reality bites after experiencing and then terminating the disastrous Biden four-year European mimicry.

Still, Europe should heed Vance’s constructive criticism—or, alternatively, look carefully at its current relationship with the U.S.

The more the European Union grew (from its 1997 six-member union to its current twenty-seven members), the more, paradoxically, its aggregate GDP fell behind that of the U.S.—which now has 1.5 times the European gross domestic product.

Europe is committing slow-motion energy suicide, led mostly by Germany (Vance’s most severe critic).
Germany’s energy is about four times as costly as the U.S. average.

Its foreign-born are now 16 percent of the population (greater even than the U.S. record high). And its calcified fertility rate hovers below 1.5.

Eleven years after NATO members promised to spend 2 percent of their respective GDP on defense, nine of NATO’s thirty-two nations still balk—despite the 3-year horrific Ukrainian war on Europe’s border and the prior four-year haranguing from Donald Trump.

Germany still leads the holdouts. It spends only 1.5 percent of its GDP, which has essentially been either negative or flat the last two years.

Because of the European elite’s growing rejection of horizontal drilling, fracking, and offshore drilling (their prior mantra was to let the Russians do such dirty business in Russia, and then sell Europe the gas and oil cheaply), the EU will now become increasingly dependent on U.S. and Middle-East imported natural gas.

Or it will have to repair Ukraine’s destruction of the Nord Stream II pipeline and resume business with its hated energy benefactor Vladimir Putin.

The EU’s increasingly asymmetrical and protectionist tariffs result in a $235 billion annual trade surplus with the U.S.—inching up to China’s $295 billion.

Add it all up. One would think that the EU ministers would welcome polite criticism.

Instead, their contempt for the U.S. is unwise—given they still won’t meet their NATO obligations.

They depend for their security on the U.S. military.

They run massive trade deficits with the U.S. due to one-sided tariffs. They need American energy. They are shrinking in population, inert in economic growth.

But they will find no cure by increasingly and loudly expressing their bitter anti-Americanism under the convenient fig leaf of hating Trump.
