Government-led boycotts of Jewish businesses. Hmmm. Where have we heard of such a thing before?
“US plans to label goods from Jewish settlements in occupied West Bank,” by Felicia Schwartz, Financial Times, April 5, 2024:
The Biden administration is drawing up plans to require goods produced in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank to be clearly labelled as coming from there, according to US officials, another sign of White House unhappiness with the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
The final go-ahead for the move, and its timing, has not been decided but it is intended to increase pressure on Israel over rising settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, and comes amid US frustration with the Jewish state’s conduct of the war in Gaza.
The move would reverse a policy introduced by the Donald Trump administration in 2020 that required goods produced in the West Bank to be labelled as “Made in Israel”….
In the Knesset, former hostages who had been released in the November exchange of imprisoned terrorists for Israeli civilians held captive said what it was like for them in Gaza. The focus of the Knesset hearing was on the sexual abuse and rape of female captives. The world, in danger of forgetting about the hostages, as all eyes are on Israel’s putative misdeeds in Gaza, needs to be constantly reminded of what is happening to those still held captive. In an emotional hearing at the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, former hostages held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza recounted harrowing tales of sexual harassment and abuse, as families of those still held captive pleaded for the Israeli government to do more to secure their release.
“As hard as it is to say, every girl there goes through sexual harassment one way or another,” said Mia Regev, who was freed in November after 50 days in captivity. Fighting back tears, she urged lawmakers to take action, saying, “Your job is to bring them back home.”
Sharon Aloni-Cunio, also released in November, said “the fear is endless” for female captives. “To be a woman in captivity is to be in constant fear; it can’t be described in words,” she told the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of Women’s Status and Gender Equality. “The terrorist is the sole arbiter of your fate.”
She added: “The feeling of helplessness is one I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Each moment feels never-ending and every movement of the terrorists causes stomach cramping because who knows what might happen.”
Mothers and sisters of the remaining hostages stood with their loved ones outside the committee room, some of them wearing clothes that appeared to be stained with blood. Liri Albag’s mother, Shira, said at the start of the hearing, “She’s in hell. Does anyone understand what it means to be in hell?”
“Our daughters experience daily suffering there. They are harmed in body and soul. My Liri was, and still is — I don’t know because I have no information about her — a slave in the homes of Gazans,” she said.
“All the decision-makers — you need to understand that every day you witness the rape that happens in Gaza,” she continued. “These girls are raped daily and everyone ignores them. You close your eyes. I hear Liri every day screaming for help: ‘Mom, save me already.’ Liri’s soul is crushed, and I cannot speak about what has happened to her body.”
Yaffa Ohad, the aunt of Noa Argamani, attended the hearing instead of Argamani’s mother, who is dying of cancer. Ohad fainted during the hearing and required medical attention. Before she fainted, Ohad said since the testimony of Amit Soussana, the first hostage to go public with her testimony of sexual torture during her captivity, had “wiped the family out. The thoughts will not leave us alone.”…
Do you think that the international media will cover these harrowing stories of how the female hostages held by Hamas are being subject to nonstop sexual abuse? Outside of Israel itself, those hostages are being forgotten. On March 29, Good Friday, Joe Biden declared March 31, Easter Sunday, a “Transgender Day of Visibility.” To appreciate the depravity in play, the Delaware Democrat’s action should be seen in context.
Back on March 15, federal judge Aleta Trauger “ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to hand over documents for a private review in an ongoing Freedom of Information Act case that will decide if the public will see documents related to the Covenant School shooter’s motives.” The documents did not emerge before March 27, one year since Audrey Hale, shot dead nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney and Hallie Scruggs, along with Covenant headmaster Katherine Koonce, custodian Mike Hill and teacher Cynthia Peak. Hale killed them in the run-up to the April 1 “Trans Day of Vengeance.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said “our hearts go out to the trans community as they are under attack right now.” Joe Biden failed to identify or condemn the shooter, failed to name a single murder victim, and did not attend any of the funerals. This year, Biden made no statement on Hale’s mass atrocity, which received mixed coverage from national and local media.
The Tennessee Star named all the victims and noted that the shooting “was carried out by Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who identified as transgender.” The Tennesseean named the victims “gunned down in a mass shooting,” but the shooter was not identified. The Associated Press story failed to name any victims or identify Audrey Hale, 28, whose possible motive also escaped notice.
A former student at the school, Audrey Hale carefully planned the attack for months. She compiled a massive “manifesto,” which police, the FBI, and trans activists sought to keep suppressed. According to the Trans Resistance Network (TRN), Audrey Hale had “no other effective way to be seen than to lash out by taking the lives of others.” That evokes the deadly dynamics behind the Nashville murder spree.
As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn explained, the line between good and evil runs straight down the middle of the human heart, and all human hearts. For the left, that line runs between social classes, nobles and peasants, workers and bosses, rich and poor, blacks and whites, and so forth. Trans ideology, the anti-scientific belief that women can become men and vice versa, takes this division to another level.
“Homosexuality and transgenderism are two utterly different phenomena,” explains Bruce Bawer, author of "A Place at the Table: The Gay Individual in American Society," but both groups are now enlisted in “the LGBTQ+ family.” That construct makes about as much sense as VBTPTA, the Vegetarian Butcher Terrorist Pacifist Teetotaler Alcoholic “family” or “community.”
Bawer outs the trans movement as a “revolution against reality itself,” a division that pits those who recognize reality against those who don’t. Trans types believe they are under attack from those who recognize reality. Those people, the trans types who have convinced themselves, are guilty of “genocide.” They thus qualify for deadly violence, fueled by another dynamic.
“Nothing is more dangerous than a general idea in narrow, empty minds,” explains Hippolyte Taine, historian of the French Revolution. “As they are empty, it finds no knowledge there to interfere with it; as they are narrow it is not long before it occupies the place entirely. Henceforth they no longer belong to themselves but are mastered by it; it works in them and through them, the man, in the true sense of the word, being possessed.”
Government education and the onslaught of wokeness have left many minds empty and narrow, Audrey Hale’s prominent among them. The general idea that women can become men occupied her entirely, to the point that she was literally possessed. Hale fired more than 150 rounds, killing some children at point blank range and applying blunt force trauma to several victims.
Even in Washington, it’s hard to think of anybody with a narrower or emptier mind than Joe Biden, in Conrad Black’s phrase a wax-works effigy of a president. Biden is all-in with the general idea, the killer construct, and the revolt against reality. For that cause, the Delaware Democrat is hardly alone.
Last year, two months after the Nashville massacre, the Biden White House marked the anniversary of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Kamala Harris named all the Uvalde victims but last year failed to name the Nashville victims or condemn Audrey Hale. An online search revealed no statement by Harris on the anniversary of Audrey Hale’s attack.
According to Nashville police, in 20 journals and assorted writings Hale documented, “her planning over a period of months to commit mass murder at the Covenant School,” and Hale “considered the actions of other mass murderers.” In portions of the manifesto leaked last November, Hale wrote “wanna kill all you little crackers,” and expressed hope for a “high death count.” Custodian Mike Hill was black, but Harris has not charged that Hale could have been motivated by racism.
Despite Judge Trauger’s order, Hale’s full manifesto is yet to be revealed. With uncritical support from the “Biden-Harris” administration, don’t be surprised if the Transmaid’s Tale gets a repeat performance.

It used to be a Bidenite mantra: we may disagree with the Israelis on some policies, but we would never make our military aid contingent on Israel submitting to our demands. But that was then, and this is now, when the Bidenites are furiously signaling to voters in Michigan and a few other states with large Arab and Muslim populations, that don’t worry, we hear you, and you can see us getting tougher on Israel by the minute. Confirmation of this came on March 28, when the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressing the Defense Writers’ Group, for the first time openly admitted that some weaponry requested by Israel was not being provided. Presumably that was done to pressure Israel not to invade Rafah, or not to go to war with Hezbollah, or possibly both. Biden is now doing what he said he would never do: harm Israel’s capacity to wage war. The United States’ top general said on Thursday that Israel had not received every weapon that it had asked for, in part because US President Joe Biden’s administration was not willing to provide at least some of them.
Washington gives $3.8 billion in annual military assistance to Israel, its longtime ally. The United States has been rushing air defenses and munitions to Israel, but some Democrats and Arab American groups have criticized the Biden administration’s steadfast support of Israel, which they say provides it with a sense of impunity.
“Although we’ve been supporting them with capability, they’ve not received everything they’ve asked for,” said General Charles Q. Brown is the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Some of that is because they’ve asked for stuff that we either don’t have the capacity to provide or are not willing to provide, not right now,” Brown added while speaking at an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group.
The Israeli offensive prompted opposition from within Biden’s Democratic Party, leading thousands to vote “uncommitted” for him in recent party presidential primaries.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in Washington earlier this week, and the Pentagon said that security assistance for Israel had been discussed.
There are several ways to look at this announcement, none of them good.
One is that the Bidenites are not really withholding anything of importance, but want to give the appearance of doing so, in order to win back support from Muslim and so-called progressive voters. It seems unlikely that that will do the trick; nothing short of the Biden administration demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza is likely to win them back. That may not be enough.
Much more likely is that some weapons are indeed being withheld from a loyal ally, just as that ally is in the middle of a war that it did not want and did not cause. This is the fourth war for the Jewish state’s survival, after those of 1948, 1967, and 1973. Withholding of weapons requested by Israel has obvious consequences. Israel now must feel it cannot fully count on Washington’s military support, just as it can no longer count on its diplomatic support — that is, the use of the American veto — at the UN Security Council. This means Israel will not only ramp up its domestic manufacture of weapons that until now it has bought from the Americans, but will also be more willing to consider other weapons it never thought it might have to employ, including tactical nuclear weapons. Imagine, for example, that the IDF is still fighting Hamas in Gaza, and at the same time Hezbollah has attacked the northern Galilee, launching ten thousand missiles every day (Hezbollah has 150,000 rockets and missiles), hitting Tel Aviv, Dimona, ten of Israel’s military airfields, while the Houthis are still firing on ships in the Red Sea to prevent Israel’s shipping of goods to and from Asia. At that point, might the state of Israel decide that it needs, by way of a demonstration meant to frighten Iran and all of Israel’s Iranian-backed enemies — Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, PFLP, and others — to drop a nuclear weapon in the Iranian desert?
Have the Bidenites considered how its other allies must be reconsidering their reliance on American weaponry, even if such a close ally as Israel can be denied weapons that the IDF says it needs? If you were Taiwan, for example, wouldn’t you be wondering whether you can continue to rely on American assurances of military support should China try to invade?
It’s hard to know what weapons the Americans are withholding from Israel’s wish list, but I suspect they might have decided not to resupply the IDF with the bunker-buster bombs that it had delivered early in the conflict. According to reports, the US has supplied 100 BLU-109 penetrating bombs to help the Israeli military destroy the deepest tunnels that have been dug, some 50 meters underground in the 500-mile network of terror tunnels that Hamas built under Gaza. But the destruction of those tunnels also leads to the collapse of many buildings just above. Perhaps the Bidenites want to discourage the IDF’s continued use of bunker-busters. It won’t discourage the Israelis — they are determined to destroy those tunnels, whatever the cost — but it will make that task much more difficult.

The White House has banned religious-themed designs from the Easter egg art event.
Religious Easter egg designs will not be accepted by the National Guard children for the 2024 “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event at the White House.
Along with the yearly Easter Egg Roll, the White House celebrates Easter with an art competition. A contest flyer specifies that an Easter egg design entry “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”
“As part of the White House Easter traditions, America’s Egg Farmers—for nearly 50 years—have proudly presented an intricately decorated Commemorative Easter Egg to the First Lady of the United States. In 2021, the White House expanded on this long-standing tradition by displaying youth-designed Easter eggs in the White House East Colonnade,” the flyer explains. “On behalf of First Lady Jill Biden, the Adjutants General of the National Guard are asking youth from National Guard families across the United States and all U.S. territories to submit artwork inspired by the theme ‘Celebrating our Military Families.’”
Kids are asked to paint eggs with pictures from their own lives. “Selected designs representing the unique experience and stories of National Guard children will be brought to life on real hen eggs by talented egg artists from across the country and displayed at the White House this Easter and Passover season,” the advertisement states.
Additionally, content that encourages “bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age” cannot be used in educational settings by children.
Children will paint a few chosen designs on actual eggs, which will be on display at the White House.

Despite mail-in voting and ballot harvesting and a host of other perfectly legal ways to tilt the playing field, could Old Joe Biden lose in November? If a Tuesday New York Times story is to be believed, the answer is a resounding yes, and among the most worrying is the senescent corruptocrat’s old friend and mentor, Barack Obama.
“Old friend and mentor,” as is well known, is largely an image manufactured for public consumption. Obama has actually taken the measure of his aged former wingman, and has famously warned: “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f**k things up.” If the Times story is accurate, and not just another signal that the Democrat establishment is ready to send Biden to a much-needed retirement, Obama is deeply worried that Old Joe is going to demonstrate his remarkable ability to mess things up in the coming rematch with Trump, and is ready to step in and lend his expertise to the cause of inflicting Biden on America for four more years.
Biden’s ability to ruin everything has been on abundant display over the last three-plus years, and so, the Times says, Obama has been having frequent phone conversations with White House chief of staff Jeffrey D. Zients, “to strategize and relay advice.” These calls, the Times insists, demonstrate “Mr. Obama’s support for Mr. Biden,” but the Paper of the Record concedes that they also indicate Obama’s “grave concern that Mr. Biden could lose to former President Donald J. Trump.” This unnamed aide says that this is nothing new: Obama has “always” feared that Old Joe might pull his biggest bungling act in the upcoming election. The aide added Obama is ready to do what he can to help the bungler “eke it out” in several swing states.
And so, “in a sign of things to come, they are to appear together, with former President Bill Clinton, at a major fund-raiser for the Biden campaign at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Thursday.” That will likely draw in some big money from deep-pocketed leftists, but will it bring Old Joe any votes? Everyone can see what a hash Biden has made of the presidency, and the nation, since January 20, 2021. Obama may still have considerable star power among the Democrat party’s far-left base, but aside from Muslims enraged over Biden’s public (albeit hollow) support for Israel, that base was going to vote for Old Joe anyway.
Still, Obama’s intervention is an indication of how worried he is that Bad Orange Man could return to the White House. The Times reviews the checkered history of the Biden/Obama relationship, going back to 2015, when Biden (who is, after all, a famously shameless liar) claims that the lame-duck Obama told him that if he “could appoint anyone to be president for the next eight years,” he would have picked Joe. If this was a true story, and it probably wasn’t, it indicated yet another serious lapse in judgment on Obama’s part, and Obama himself may have realized it, since he reportedly annoyed Biden’s team with his strong support for Hillary in 2016.
The Times claims that “several of them work in the White House today, and they believe that Mr. Obama and his advisers sidelined Mr. Biden, whom they think could have changed the course of history and beaten Mr. Trump in 2016.” Yeah, the course of history would have been changed, all right: we would be in an even greater fix than we are now. In any case, Old Joe and Barack patched things up when the Scranton Kleptocrat entered the race against the hated Trump in 2019, and the rest is history, albeit it is a sad, shameful, sorrowful history of a nation in freefall.
That freefall, however, is one that Barack Obama largely set in motion. Biden has just built on the damage Obama did. It was Obama’s White House that first betrayed Israel at the United Nations when it abstained on a bill denouncing Israeli settlements in Judea (which means “land of the Jews”) and Samaria, known today as the West Bank. It was Obama who first showered billions on the Iranian mullahs who financed Hamas, and Biden’s regime has just done it again. So it's no surprise that Obama would want to make sure that Biden continues to pretend to be president until he is a sprightly 86 years old: Biden’s legacy is Obama’s legacy. The two are forever intertwined in history. And, unfortunately, in American public life.

Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, the Western intelligentsia has been busy portraying Vladimir Putin as a man who, unlike, say Lyin’ Joe Biden or Rachel Levine or your local drag queen, has transgressed all the bounds of decency. He’s an authoritarian. He’s an imperialist. He’s an autocrat. He’s a new Hitler.
But while the media and numerous government officials have not hesitated to portray Putin as an evil incarnate, one would be hard-pressed to find anyone claiming that he is stupid. Few people, if anyone, doubt that he is as shrewd as he is ruthless, as thoughtful as he is menacing. Putin himself, however, has just put a massive dent in his fearsome reputation with his response to the ISIS attack in Russia.
When the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for Friday’s jihad terror attack in Moscow, in which the death toll is currently 139, its claim was met with widespread skepticism. ISIS issued a statement boasting that “the Islamic State dealt a strong blow to Russia with a bloody attack, the most violent targeting it in years.” It added that “security sources told Amaq Agency that a coordinated attack was launched by Islamic State fighters, on Friday, on a large crowd of Christians in the city of Krasnogorsk on the outskirts of the capital, Moscow.” Amaq Agency is ISIS’ mouthpiece for its announcements of various jihad activities.
Despite this, however, the usual suspects of conspiracy paranoia, notably the CIA and Mossad, were accused on social media of being the real culprits. And Putin himself, in his initial statement on the attack, blamed the massacre on “international terrorism” but didn’t mention ISIS and suggested that Ukraine had something to do with it: “They tried to hide and move towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them on the Ukrainian side to cross the state border."
On Monday, however, Putin issued another statement, in which he acknowledged the truth he had skirted previously: “We know that the crime was committed by radical Islamists, whose ideology the Islamic world itself has been fighting for centuries.” Really, Vlad? Where?
As "The History of Jihad" demonstrates, one constant amid 1,400 years of jihad warfare around the world was that there was never any pushback from within the Islamic world. In all of the centuries of jihad warfare and bloody jihad conquests, there was never an Islamic group dedicated to fighting against “radical Islamists” and showing that Islam is a religion of peace. There were never even any protests until a handful of Muslims began standing against jihad terrorism in the modern West.
Putin wasn’t finished. He asked, “And how do radical Islamists, who position themselves, by the way, as devout Muslims, professing so-called pure Islam, commit serious atrocities and crimes during the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims?” Well, Mr. Putin, it’s like this: Ramadan is the month in which Muslims are supposed to redouble their efforts to please Allah. A hadith has a Muslim asking Muhammad: “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” Muhammad replied, “I do not find such a deed.” (Bukhari 4.52.44) So if there is no greater deed than jihad, and Ramadan is the month to do great deeds for Allah, the month of jihad.
Many Muslim authorities have said as much. In April 2022, the Palestinian Authority’s Supreme Sharia Judge, Mahmoud Al-Habbash, declared that “Ramadan is not a month of laziness but rather a month of activity, of effort, and of hard work, and as it also was in the life of the Prophet, a month of jihad, conquest, and victory.” The jihad he had in mind was violence against unbelievers, as a Muslim cleric in India, Maulana Bashir Ahmad Khaki, made clear in 2018: “Ramadan is the pious month of ‘Jihad-o-Qital’ (Jihad and killing). So is Vladimir Putin retreating into Bidenesque, FBI-style denial and willful ignorance regarding the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat? It certainly seems as if he is. After all, he has restive Muslim populations in Chechnya and elsewhere in Russia, and he doesn’t want them to get the idea that their ruler is an “Islamophobe.” And as Russia continues to cultivate relationships with the Islamic Republic of Iran and other Islamic entities, it would be poor business sense to risk saying something that might ruffle the ever-so-easily ruffled feathers of the motherland’s partners.
That means that just as in the West, Russia’s most respected foreign policy analysts will continue to look everywhere except in Islam for the motivating ideology behind the massacre in Moscow and so many others. The jihadis, meanwhile, will keep plotting more bloodshed and murder.
President Joe Biden is now considering giving illegal immigrants amnesty “in an effort to address the escalating immigration situation,” according to Politico.
In response to ongoing criticism regarding how Biden has not taken enough action on illegal immigration or the southern border issue, the president and his administration say that they are now considering a number of alternatives to adopt a more “aggressive” position, the White House claimed.
According to three sources familiar with the plans who spoke to Politico, the administration may begin awarding green cards to illegal immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for a “considerable amount of time,” thus granting them amnesty to remain there.
The proposal would reportedly let immigrants who have been in the nation for more than ten years apply for the cancellation of the removal program, given that their relatives would “suffer” if they were to be deported.
If an immigration judge confirms a migrant’s request for cancellation of removal and they complete the standards, they will be granted a special green card, giving them permanent residency.
According to the three officials who spoke with Politico, it would also be part of a bigger push by Biden to act on behalf of illegals who have long resided in the country. Additionally, the government has considered extending even more assistance to states and towns like Denver, Colorado, and New York City that have welcomed a sizable influx of illegal immigrants.
Biden previously claimed that he needed permission from Congress to take action on the southern border crisis or illegal immigration, even going so far as to accuse Republican lawmakers of blocking him.
“I’ve done all I can do. Just give me the power. I’ve asked from the very day I got into office,” Biden claimed on January 30th.

Nine states show up again and again as the most repressive states in the union of the United States of America. With the occasional exception, these states refuse to honor the Constitution; they have extremely restrictive policies on who may bear arms, they ban common rifles, they ban the ownership of suppressors, and they tend to have high taxes. They are all controlled by the Democratic Party.
The nine most repressive states are California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
Washington State has also banned certain semi-automatic rifles. Litigation challenging such bans as unconstitutional is moving forward in several states, including Maryland, New York, California, Illinois, and New Jersey. At some point, the Supreme Court will rule on one or more of these cases.
Of those nine states, all but Rhode Island have enacted bans on some semi-automatic firearms, usually under the politically defined label of “assault rifles.”
Of the nine repressive states, eight of them have laws that prevent most of the population from exercising their Second Amendment rights, especially the right to bear arms outside of the home.

Out of the nine repressive states, eight have “may issue” laws whereby a government official has discretion to deny a carry permit based on his subjective opinion.
In this way, Martin Luther King was denied a carry permit in Alabama in 1956. John Stossel was denied a carry permit in New York City. Illinois is shown as a “shall issue” state. Illinois was forced by the Court of Appeals in the Seventh Circuit to pass a “shall issue” law or risk being forced to become a permitless carry state.

Suppressors/silencers are effective safety devices, which are common in Europe and many other countries. The American Suppressor Association maintains a map showing which states ban the legal possession of silencers/suppressors. Maryland does not ban the ownership of suppressors and allows them to be used for hunting. Suppressors/silencers are banned in California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.

Now, taxation, of the nine most repressive states, is in the top ten highest tax states: New York, Hawaii, California, New Jersey, Illinois, and Delaware.
All of the nine most repressive states are Democratic party trifectas, as shown by Ballotpedia. A Democratic party trifecta means both houses of the legislature and the governorship are in the hands of the Democratic party.
A similar situation existed with states in the South when they refused to follow Supreme Court rulings to desegregate public schools. Eventually, under a Republican administration, President Eisenhower enforced the desegregation order in Arkansas schools. Do not expect a Biden, or any Democratic administration, to use troops to enforce Second Amendment rights in repressive states. Just as the Democratic party was the party of government power and segregation through the 1950’s, the Democratic party has been the party of government power and repression of Second Amendment rights since the Supreme Court rulings in Heller (2008), McDonald (2010), Caetano (2016) and Bruen (2022).

Several of the nation’s most ardent gun control activist governors and mayors of the largest metropolitans are staring down a divergent reality. They continue to stick with publicizing increasing gun control restrictions on law-abiding citizens, as crime is going down in many – though not all – major cities, while gun sales continue to increase at “new normal” historically high rates.
The tired scare tactic of warning “more guns means more crime” is crumbling apart as millions of law-abiding Americans are awakening to what it means to be a lawful and responsible gun owner. The streak of more than one million NSSF-adjusted FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verifications processed for the purchase of a firearm that hit 55 months in February 2024.
Those firearm sales figures include significant increases in gun ownership in some of the country’s bluest states and cities. In those same areas, crime has been rampant over the past several years as politicians embraced “Defund the Police” efforts, bail reform policies and going soft on criminals.
The rest of the law-abiding population has pushed back in a resounding way.
Eyes on the Big Apple
One city where the divergent reality is most prominently seen today is New York City. Perhaps no city has seen more dissatisfied citizens about their feelings toward public safety than the Big Apple. It was a major factor under former accidental Mayor Bill de Blasio and continues under Mayor Eric Adams. That includes a stretch in 2022 where 70 percent of New York City residents felt unsafe.
That figure hasn’t improved much in the past year. The New York Times reported on a new poll showing that only 37 percent of city residents felt satisfied with the level of safety in their neighborhood. The same poll found that only half of residents admitted they planned to stay in the city past 2028.
“People are fed up with the quality of life. There’s a general sense of lawlessness. You go into CVS and there’s shoplifting. "People's cars get vandalized,” Queens Councilman Robert Holden told The New York Post about the polling.
In New York City, the rampant crime of the past several years, as well as more recent events including rises in antisemitism, have contributed to large numbers of new law-abiding gun owners in the city. Women, African Americans, Jewish residents, and even a collection of hundreds of the city’s bodega owners have all taken the Second Amendment into their own hands to purchase firearms. It’s also led to a decrease in crime so far compared to last year.
“Anyone that’s out there looking to rob us, hurt us, kill us – beware,” Fernando Mateo, a spokesperson for the United Bodegas of America, recently said. “You may be walking into the wrong bodega because now we have the same firepower you have.”
All told, NSSF-adjusted FBI NICS verifications for the purchase of a firearm in New York have totaled nearly 1.6 million. There's a lot of new, empowered New Yorkers taking their personal safety into their own hands and not relying on delayed or understaffed law enforcement. Criminals are taking note.
Busting Bad Guys
In addition to the massive number of new gun owners in the Big Apple, the falling crime rate is likely due to another logical effort that has nothing to do with placing more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. Instead, it turns out that going after and getting tough on criminals who break the law has a real, positive impact on the city.
Gothamist reported on a new survey released by the mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and the New York Police Department that highlighted new information about what types of illegal guns police are seizing and where. The report breaks down more than 6,200 firearms that police seized between July 2020 and December 2021.
“About a third of [the seized firearms] had been used in a crime and about two-thirds had not. The guns that had not been used in a crime included those seized from people who didn’t have a license to possess a firearm, and weapons that people voluntarily turned over to law enforcement at gun buybacks,” the report stated. It should be noted that illegally possessing a firearm is, in fact, a crime.
The report also demonstrated that most of the seized firearms connected to a crime came from police precincts with high crime rates, reinforcing that police know where violent criminals are, that they are using and possessing illegal firearms and that those areas deserve the most attention.
Lastly, the crime report reinforced that illegally possessed handguns are, by far, the most commonly used firearm when a crime is committed. More than 70 percent of all the guns seized were handguns, with only eight percent being either a rifle or shotgun. When the report segments those guns out further to look at the “crime guns” the numbers are even more telling. More than 80 percent of recovered firearms were handguns, with only three percent being a long gun.
This data tracks fairly closely with what the firearms industry has said for years: that the overwhelming majority of firearms used in crime are illegally obtained handguns and that, also, Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs), which there are more than 28 million in circulation, are seldom used in a crime.
Not an Outlier
While crime is staying high in Washington, D.C., even though the city already implements nearly every gun control law imaginable, and a few other major cities that have notoriously soft-on-crime prosecutors or that severely cut police budgets, New York City isn’t an outlier. Across the country, in major cities crime seems to be trending downward in the right direction.
Not all major cities can point towards new gun restrictions or gun control laws as the reason behind the decrease. But, in every state – including many of the major cities which often have Left-leaning, gun control supportive mayors – firearm sales have kept up at a blistering pace.
With more law-abiding gun owners, and with more states like Louisiana and South Carolina opting for permitless carry, it’s abundantly clear criminals have recognized they are facing more empowered and confident residents that won’t be such easy targets as victims anymore.

There are lawsuits across the country from young adults who are suffering the consequences of their gender transition. There are disproportionately high concentrations of autism, severe mental health struggles, and histories of sexual abuse among individuals who transition, further preventing their ability to give informed consent.
Delaware activists, in the name of "care," are leaving this vulnerable population completely defenseless against the harms of their radical agenda, which results in sterilization, sexual dysfunction, and complications for life.
The transgender industry gives billions of dollars to pharmaceutical companies who manufacture drugs for puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and drugs needed for surgeries. These are drugs that individuals who transition have to take for the rest of their lives.
Puberty blockers have not been FDA approved for use in minors for gender transition. WPATH admitted that there are no long-term studies on the benefits or harms of gender transition drugs and surgeries.
European countries such as the UK, Norway, and Finland, as well as 22 US states, have restricted or banned these surgeries and drugs for minors.
Delaware is on the wrong side of history. Children are being sold the gender lie through media, social media, and even curricula in public schools. If they feel uncomfortable with their changing bodies, or don't fit the "stereotype" for manhood or womanhood, they are told that they were born in the wrong body.
The number of children who have attempted to "transition" their gender has tripled in just five years!
Delaware law demands that those licensed counselors can only counsel these children toward gender transition. This is irresponsible! But if HB 346 passes, the victims will have no legal recourse.

The US decision to abstain on the vote prompted Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel a scheduled trip to the US by two of his top advisers, two Israeli officials said.
The US had previously vetoed similar resolutions calling for a ceasefire. Its position evolved last week when on Friday it put forward a ceasefire resolution tied to the release of hostages. That resolution fell when it was vetoed by Russia and China. The US abstention on Monday’s vote allowed the latest resolution to pass, when the other 14 members of the 15-strong council voted yes.
The US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that while the latest resolution included edits requested by the US, Washington could not vote yes because it “did not agree with everything.”
“A ceasefire could have come about months ago if Hamas had been willing to release hostages,” the ambassador said, calling on member states and the UNSC to demand that Hamas “accepts the deal on the table.”
“Any ceasefire must come with the release of all hostages,” she added.
The resolution, put forward by the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council, demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and “the urgent need to expand the flow” of aid into Gaza.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said a failure to implement the resolution would be “unforgivable.”
“The Security Council just approved a long-awaited resolution on Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. This resolution must be implemented. Failure would be unforgivable,” Guterres wrote on X, previously known as Twitter….

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., provided updates on the passed spending bill, attempt to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson and colleagues who plan to retire before November's election.
President Joe Biden has signed the $1.2 trillion spending package to keep the government open.
On Saturday, Biden signed a bill for the spending package just hours after it was passed by the senate.
Biden praised the measure as a compromise, and “good news for the American people.”
“This agreement represents a compromise, which means neither side got everything it wanted,” Biden continued, emphasizing that it rejected “extreme cuts from House Republicans and expands access to child care, invests in cancer research, funds mental health and substance use care, advances American leadership abroad, and provides resources to secure the border that my Administration successfully fought to include. That’s good news for the American people.”
During his speech, Biden called on Congress, urging them to enact a border security agreement and a national security supplemental bill in the House.
“It’s time to get this done,” Biden said.
The House passed the legislation Friday with a bipartisan 286-134 vote, which spurred a push among some conservatives to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).
The bill passed the Senate by a 74-24 vote early Saturday morning following hours of intense negotiations.
