Immigrant socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani explicitly stated his intentions of hiking taxes for “richer and whiter neighborhoods,” while arguing that billionaires shouldn’t exist.

Mamdani, a Ugandan immigrant, has explicitly called for taxes to shift from “homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods.”

Mamdani doubled down on his proposed tax policy, arguing that the decision was “not driven by race.”

“That is just a description of what we’re seeing right now. It’s not driven by race. It’s more of an assessment of what neighborhoods are being under-taxed versus over-taxed,” he stated on Sunday. “We’ve seen time and again that this is a property tax system that is inequitable. It’s one that Eric Adams ran on, saying that he would change in the first 100 days.”

Mamdani also ran on free city buses, rent freezes on rent-stabilized units, city-owned grocery stores and a $30 minimum wage, while asserting that billionaires should not exist.

“I don’t think that we should have billionaires, frankly,” Mamdani stated.

Mamdani was able to best former New York State governor Andrew Cuomo in the 2025 Democratic nomination for the New York mayoralty, making him the frontrunner to win the November election.

Meanwhile, GOP NYC Councilman David Carr has called on Mamdani to “drop the divisive rhetoric.”

“The objective of our reforms is to make our property tax system fairer and more transparent and to ensure that middle and working-class homeowners aren’t subsidizing lower taxes for wealthy property owners,” Carr stated.

“It’s not about blaming people based on race or class or political affiliation, and if Zohran Mamdani wants to come on board, then he should drop the divisive rhetoric,” he added.

Beyond Carr, New York Democrat Rep. Laura Gillen (D-N.Y.) called Mamdani “too extreme” to run New York City.

“Socialist Zohran Mamdani is too extreme to lead New York City,” Gillen stated. “His entire campaign has been built on unachievable promises and higher taxes, which is the last thing New York needs.”

Gillen also noted that Mamdani has previously called to “defund the police.”

President Donald Trump sharply criticized NYC socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, threatening to cut federal funding if he is elected and implements his proposed agenda.

Trump slammed Mamdani as a “pure communist,” during a Sunday interview on Fox News.

“He’s a communist, and I think it’s very bad for New York,” Trump stated. “Let’s just say, if he does get in, I’m going to be president and he’s going to have to do the right thing, or they’re not getting any money.”

According to NYC’s comptroller, the city enjoyed over $100 billion from the federal government through various programs and entities in 2024, which could significantly impact Mamdani’s proposed agenda.

“I can tell you this, whoever’s mayor of New York is going to have to behave themselves, or the federal government is coming down very tough on them financially,” Trump continued. “I used to say we will never have a socialist in this country.”

“He’s a radical left lunatic,” he added.

Trump’s comments follow after 33-year-old Mamdani was able to secure the NYC’s Democrat mayoral primary over former New York Governor Chris Cuomo, positioning Mamdani as a front runner for November’s election.

Mamdani’s socialist agenda includes freezing rents for rent-stabilized units, city-owned grocery stores, free bus fares, tax increases for “Whiter neighborhoods,” and upholding NYC’s sanctuary status, among other things.

Mamdani appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, where he refuted Trump’s claim that he’s a communist, stating: “No, I am not.”

“I am not, and I have already had to start getting used to the fact that the president will talk about how I look, how I sound, where I’m from, who I am,” Mamdani stated.

Mamdani also reiterated his belief that billionaires shouldn’t exist – vowing to increase taxes on “richer, whiter neighborhoods.”

“I don’t think that we should have billionaires because, frankly, it is so much money in a moment of such inequality – and ultimately what we need more of is equality across our city and across our state and across our country,” Mamdani stated, “And I look forward to work with everyone, including billionaires, to make a city that is fairer for all of them.”

Additionally, Mamdani has also vowed to uphold NYC’s sanctuary status amidst President Trump’s mass deportation campaign.

“It’s a policy that had previously been defended by Democrats and Republicans alike, until the fear mongering of this current mayor,” Mamdani stated, referencing NYC Mayor Eric Adams. “And it’s a policy that we’ve seen ensures that New Yorkers can get out of the shadows and into the full life of the city that they belong to, and it’s one that I will be proud to stand up for.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) have all expressed support for Mamdani’s campaign.

Victor Davis Hanson: 128 Democrats Reject Latest Trump Impeachment—Here’s The Major Reason Why

The Left tried to impeach Donald Trump—again. This time, however, 128 House Democrats voted against it. Why? Victor Davis Hanson says it’s simple: hypocrisy. The same Democrats who turned a blind eye when Obama dropped 26,000 bombs in a single year are now clutching their pearls over Trump’s targeted strike on Iran. Hanson breaks this down on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “  Barack Obama, in the single year, 2016, he dropped 26,000 bombs. And it wasn't just in Syria. It wasn't just in Iraq. It wasn't just in Afghanistan. He dropped them in Libya. He dropped them in Somalia. He dropped them in Yemen. 26,000 bombs. And they all had one thing in common. He didn't think he had to go to the Congress to ask permission. “ All they're doing is saying, 'If Donald Trump does something, we are going to be irate. We're going to use pornography. We're going to use smuddy language. And we're going to oppose him. And now, we're going to impeach him.' And some people in that party said, 'This is so unhinged. It's so contradictory. It's so paradoxical. It's so hypocritical.'”

‘He needs to be deported’: Tennessee congressman calls for DOJ probe into Mamdani’s naturalization

Rep. Andy Ogles, Tennessee Republican, urged the Justice Department to open an investigation into New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, saying that he may have violated the terms of his naturalized citizenship by supporting terrorism and thus should be deported.

In a Thursday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Mr. Ogles cited a report that Mr. Mamdani expressed solidarity with the Holy Land Foundation in a 2017 rap track, rapping “My love for the Holy Land Five/You better look ‘em up.”

The pro-Israel Canary Mission, which unearthed the track, said the “Holy Land Five” refers to five men who were convicted of funding over $12 million to Hamas, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization.

The Canary Mission said the track record shows that Mr. Mamdani is “unfit for office.”

Mr. Mamdani, who was born in Uganda in 1991 and became a naturalized citizen in 2018, has served in the New York Assembly since 2020. He defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for mayor in Tuesday’s election.

“The naturalization process depends on good-faith disclosure of any affiliation with, or support for, groups that threaten U.S. national security,” said Mr. Ogles in his letter. “If Mr. Mamdani concealed relevant associations, that concealment may constitute a material misrepresentation sufficient to support denaturalization under federal law.”

Joining Mr. Ogles was the New York Young Republican Club, which issued a “call for action” urging President Trump to deport Mr. Mamdani under the Communist Control Act, a little-enforced 1954 law that has been described as unconstitutional.

“The radical Zohran Mamdani cannot be allowed to destroy our beloved city of New York,” the club on X.

Mr. Ogles also warned that Mr. Mamdani would “destroy the great city of New York” if elected mayor of the Big Apple.

Mr. Mamdani faces incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who is running as an independent, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, in the November election

Mr. Mamdani has been active in the anti-Israel protests following the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israeli civilians, which prompted Israel to declare war, but he has insisted there is “no room for antisemitism in this city or this country.”

He has also decried the “dehumanizing language” used against him, while his campaign said he has been the victim of Islamophobia. The New York Police Department has launched a hate crimes investigation into threats against the candidate.

Socialist NYC Mayor Candidate FACES DEPORTATION After Communist AGENDA Exposed

In this video, I break down the absolute insanity surrounding NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani—a radical socialist who's somehow managed to stun both the left and right. From wanting to freeze rent, replace police with social workers, and raise the minimum wage to $30/hour, to threatening to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city—this guy’s platform is a dumpster fire of delusion. Even Democrats are running scared from him, and now there’s talk of stripping his citizenship over possible ties to t*rrorism. I lay out how his utopian promises will destroy New York’s economy, drive away billionaires, and crush the working class under fake compassion. I will show the receipts, call out the lies, and expose the ridiculousness behind this clown show of a campaign. Even 50 Cent had to speak up. You don’t want to miss this.
