President Donald Trump announced that he would be doubling tariffs on steel to 50% during a Pittsburgh rally at U.S. Steel’s Irvin Works on Friday.

“We are going to be imposing a 25% increase. We’re going to bring it from 25% to 50% the tariffs on steel into the United States of America, which will even further secure the steel industry in the United States,” Trump stated.

President Trump also assured that the iconic American company, U.S. Steel, will remain an American owned company following an 18-month long effort by Nippon Steel, a Japanese steelmaker, to buy-out the company.

Trump proclaimed the deal would proceed, with Nippon Steel as a partial owner, but the U.S. would retain ultimate control.

“We’re here today to celebrate a blockbuster agreement that will ensure this storied American company stays an American company,” Trump continued, speaking to more than 1,600 people, including steel workers. “You’re going to stay an American company, you know that right? But we’re going to have a great partner.”

President Trump also boasted in a social media post last Friday that the deal with the Japanese company will include a $14 billion investment and will “create and save over 100,000 American jobs.”

“You’re going to be very happy,” he stated. “There’s a lot of money coming your way.”

Trump added that the megadeal includes “vital protections to ensure that all steel workers will keep their jobs and all facilities in the United States will remain open and thriving.”

Former President Joe Biden previously blocked the merger in January, citing national security concerns.

“It is my solemn responsibility as president to ensure that, now and long into the future, America has a strong domestically owned and operated steel industry that can continue to power our national sources of strength at home and abroad; and it is a fulfillment of that responsibility to block foreign ownership of this vital American company,” Biden stated at the time.

Additionally, GOP Senator David McCormick (R-Pa.) claimed on Tuesday that the deal includes a majority of board members being from the U.S., and that the U.S. federal government would have a “golden share.”

“It’s a national security agreement that will be signed with the U.S. government,” McCormick stated. “There’ll be a golden share, which will essentially require U.S. government approval of a number of the board members, and that will allow the United States to ensure production levels aren’t cut.”

Despite Trump’s announcement, the president has until next Thursday to finalize and approve the deal, following a second review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., which occurred last week, according to Reuters.

“I am aware of the various reports and posts by President Trump on social media. However, there has not yet been an official announcement from the U.S. government,” said Japanese trade negotiator Ryosei Akazawa on Friday.

Trump’s Power Being Blocked by Judges and Weak Republicans? INTV w/ Steve Bannon

Is President Trump being stopped from doing the job he was elected to do? In this hard-hitting interview, Dan Ball and Steve Bannon reveal how activist judges, deep state operatives, and even some weak Republicans in Congress are standing in the way of Trump’s America First agenda. From mass deportations and border security to cutting wasteful spending and imposing tariffs, Trump is exercising his full Article II powers—but the legal and political resistance is fierce. Bannon warns: “To delay is to deny.” This is more than gridlock—it’s a constitutional crisis in real time.

Court’s halt on tariffs ‘stunning and surprising’: Judge Andrew Napolitano

On Thursday's "Wake Up America," Judge Andrew Napolitano discussed the next steps for President Trump after a federal court blocked tariffs imposed by his administration.

A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., has temporarily reinstated President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

On Thursday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit announced that it would grant the Trump administration’s request for an immediate administrative stay “to the extent that the judgments and the permanent injunctions entered by the Court of International Trade in these cases are temporarily stayed.”

The Trump administration had previously told the court that it would be seeking “emergency relief from the Supreme Court if the tariff policy was not put on pause as soon as Friday.”

“The Supreme Court must put an end to this,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday afternoon. “These judges are threatening to undermine the credibility of the United States on the world stage.”

“We are living under a judicial tyranny,” White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller wrote Thursday morning in response to the ruling, escalating his initial claim that “the judicial coup is out of control.”

On Wednesday night, the appeals court said the judgment issued by the Court of International Trade is “temporarily stayed until further notice while this court considers the motion papers.”

Victor Davis Hanson: Harvard, You’re Entitled to Nothing

Sorry, Harvard, but we’re not going to give you billions of taxpayer dollars, no questions asked.   The Trump administration is set to eliminate its remaining government contracts with Harvard University, totally over $100 million, reports the New York Times. This comes off the heels of the administration’s commitment to also prevent the once prestigious university from enrolling foreign student.   The federal government does not have an obligation to blindly give a private university billions of dollars of taxpayer money, just like immigration officials are not forced to automatically give visas to foreign nationals, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words:” “I think the argument from the administration that maybe our right-wing friends are missing is not that the Trump administration doesn't have a right to go in and micromanage. They're just saying, ‘I don't really wanna give Harvard any money. They've got $53 billion. They're private. They're not public institutions. But you know, if they ask us and they want money, then we have to look at why we would give it to them.’   “And it's kind of like Mr. Smith coming from Korea or Mr. Jones coming from Sweden. We look at them and we don't really think they add to the Americans. So, we don't have an invitation.’”

The Truth About South Africa’s Anti-American Agenda

Trade imbalances, foreign aid handouts, expelled ambassadors and hate speech denial. South Africa’s increasingly anti-American posture is what got it into trouble with President Trump. In this episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Hanson unpacks South Africa’s racialist policies and its attempts to leverage U.S. generosity while showing open hostility. “ T his is not the South Africa that we used to know. But it was running on the fumes of Mandelaism. At the United Nations, it’s hostile to the United States. It takes advantage of the free trade agreement to run up a $9 billion surplus….It shows no gratitude. It attacks us.”

We Have No Moral Obligation to Forgive or Forget the Biden Lies

What a remarkable coincidence that Joe Biden’s wranglers discovered he had cancer right in the middle of the revelations about how he was totally senile and everyone around him, including his very real doctor wife, covered it up. Yeah, right. His puppet masters knew, even if that human rutabaga didn’t. Stage IV prostate cancer doesn’t sneak up on you. It’s easy to detect. I know my PSA. It’s .07. I got it tested a couple of weeks ago. I get it tested every year. Weird that I have better medical care than the President of the United States, right? But you don’t believe that. And I don’t believe that. The hacks, frauds, and charlatans demanding that you believe that certainly don’t believe that. The Democrat Party: It’s all a lie. It’s all a scam. They hid his likely terminal disease so he could be reelected, disclose it, quit, be hailed as a selfless hero (Hat Tip: Buck Sexton), and hand the country to that drooling half-

wit vice president of his. We all know it. And we need to say it, loudly and often, regardless of how hard the whiners whine.

There are two categories of people who heard the “news” – well, it was only news to the American people – and immediately told us that we need to slow our roll on demanding accountability for the rudderless presidency in solemn deference to this ultra-convenient revelation. The first kind are nice people, too nice. Some are serial Fredocon invertebrates who always counsel weakness, submission, and silence. Some believe Christian charity requires not only prayers for him and his family but a free pass on this massive wrongdoing for everyone involved. Others have an understandable sensitivity to the subject because they had family members who suffered the same terrible illness that Joe Biden has just been revealed to have, even though everybody around him must’ve known he had it for years and simply lied to cover it up.

Well, the sissies can pound sand; they look at history and think the Vichy French were too belligerent. I’m not going to judge the others; you need to follow your conscience. But I’m also not going to listen to them. I’m going to say what I want, all the time, and I’m going to continue to point out that Joe Biden is an evil, senile, corrupt pervert, who was and is surrounded by minions interested only in retaining their prestige, power, and plunder.

The other category of people demanding that we shut up about the obvious truth that this is all part of an enormous scam are the people in on the con, the Democrat politicians, social media mouthpieces, and the regime media. But truth-shaming won’t work, not anymore. It’s remarkable how stuck in the 20th century these Democrats and affiliates are with their narrative-molding strategies. They really think that the old rules are still in effect, that they can leverage fake decorum to shut us up because the regime media will be able to act as censors and keep the hard questions from ever being asked. Well, today there are more than three networks and there are more than two newspapers. There’s also this thing called the Internet, and we’re going to use it to talk about how the people who put their hands inside Joe Biden’s puppet head faked his presidency for four years.

This bogus cancer diagnosis – I don’t doubt that he has Stage IV cancer, I just doubt his handlers figured that out last week – is so obviously a flex designed to shut us up that I’m almost insulted they would pull it on us. They must think we’re Democrats too, that we’ll fall for this nonsense, that we will decide to lighten up on our righteous fury provoked by the recent revelations, in books and in the Hur tapes, about how everybody in the White House, the Democrat Party, and the regime media knew he was senile and lied to our faces for four years. That’s four years at a minimum – the dude has been an eggplant for the last ten, and even before that he was a moron.

“But-but-but-but-but you’re picking on a guy with a stutter who has prostate cancer!”

Well, the fake fussy pearl-clutching over us being meanies isn’t going to work anymore. I, for one, remember their grave disappointment when Donald Trump was almost murdered, and when an innocent man was. Just the other day, I stumbled on a Twitter thread of leftist morons explaining how the whole Butler shooting thing was a giant head fake designed to do something because of reasons and shut up, you’re all racists and literally Hitler. If Trump got a prostate cancer diagnosis, every blue state and Ivy League college campus would declare a holiday. The difference is that we’re not celebrating his disease; we’re just not granting a blanket pardon because of it.

I need to ask, “What’s the rule?” What’s the rule about the reaction we’re allowed to have to a transparent attempt to shut up any discussion about the greatest cover-up in American history? Well, let me tell you the rule. We’re going to say and do whatever we want, all the time. What are the Dems going to do about it? Tell us we’re even worse than they already say we are? I refer you to the aforementioned stuff about how we’re already literally racist Hitlers. Where do they go from there? The left is all out of epithets, and we’re all out of patience.

I’m not demanding that you dance around in glee at Joe Biden’s misfortune.  I’m not demanding that you don’t. I’m not demanding that you do anything. You decide what you’re going to do. If you want to offer your sympathies and prayers to him and his family, go right ahead. And if you want to announce that you don’t care because this guy didn’t care about you, because he got a bunch of people killed, and he was the worst president of the last century, a century that included President Jimmy Carter, I’m not going to tell you not to do that either. You do what you want. You say what you want. And the leftists can seethe.

It’s not about how we feel about Joe Biden, though they want to make it about that to distract us from what this is really about – accountability for the gravest crime ever committed against our democracy. J6 was just a rowdy afternoon. This was a four-year coup by faceless courtiers who no one ever voted for who presumed to sign laws, open the borders, give pardons, and send troops into combat – some of whom, through incompetence, came home inside metal boxes – in the name of a mindless marionette. Where are all the Muh Democracy people today? Telling us to let this go.

But we can’t let this go. I’m not one for congressional hearings. I think most of them are performance art, similar to the kind of performance a sketchy creep in a raincoat gives near a playground during his lunch break from his job at the Lincoln Project. But America being put on autopilot for four years is an appropriate subject for a congressional inquiry, with subpoenas, depositions, and public hearings. The alleged President of the United States, the guy with his crusty finger on the nuclear button, was senile and corrupt, and now it’s revealed that he had a debilitating illness as well. His people covered it up. That’s worth digging into. It’s worth finding out the truth. America deserves some answers about how one political party, aided and abetted by our garbage regime media, lied to us for four years of a “Weekend at Bernie’s” presidency, while who the hell knows was running our country.

Don’t ask me for pity, and don’t try and leverage my sensibilities. We’re past that. We are way past that. Time to double down on digging deep into the Biden scandal. No prostate cancer pardons; the people who tried to pull off this coup must pay.

‘It’s Marco vs. the Deep State’: Trump Administration to Overhaul National Security Council More power to them.

More power to them.

[Want even more content from FPM? Sign up for FPM+ to unlock exclusive series, virtual town-halls with our authors, and more—now for just $3.99/month. Click here to sign up.]

The next bastion of the Deep State to get targeted for its bureaucratic bloat is the National Security Council, and this battle is not starting a moment too soon. The NSC is a hornet’s nest of appeasers, advocates for endless wars, and far-leftists who despise President Trump and his administration, think they know better how to conduct foreign policy despite their ever-lengthening string of failures, and will do everything they can to undermine what Trump tries to do. But now, enter Marco Rubio.

Fox News reported Friday that Trump and Rubio “are continuing to overhaul the National Security Council and shift its main functions to other agencies like the State and Defense departments.” Former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz started the ball rolling when “he ordered 160 NSC staffers off the job pending a comprehensive review of the agency’s alignment with Trump’s agenda.” Now, as Waltz moves on to become UN ambassador in the wake of the Signal kerfuffle, the resistance against the Deep State at the NSC will continue.

The left will, of course, howl yet again about Trump’s fascism, but if the roles were reversed, we would be hearing endless tales from the establishment media about the coterie of reactionary subversives in the NSC who were wildly exceeding their authority and trying to subvert the noble leftist president’s agenda. Like all other presidents, Trump deserves to have a governmental apparatus that does his lawful bidding and doesn’t try to obstruct it. After all, it was he who was elected to the presidency, not the faceless leftist NSC bureaucrats who decide that his policies are unwise and that the opposite of them will be implemented.

And so “the current plans to upend the agency would include whittling down the size of the National Security Council, which the Trump White House believes is full of long-term, bureaucratic staffers who don’t align with Trump’s agenda.” An unnamed White House official said, “The NSC is the ultimate Deep State. It’s Marco vs. the Deep State. We’re gutting the Deep State.” According to Axios, Trump and Rubio plan to “cut the NSC staff to about half of its current 350 members. Those cut from the NSC will be moved to other positions in government, officials said.

Rubio explained, “The right-sizing of the NSC is in line with its original purpose and the president’s vision. The NSC will now be better positioned to collaborate with agencies.” And better positioned, one hopes, to do what it was supposed to do when it was originally established: enact the president’s agenda, rather than interfere with it on behalf of the president’s political opponents.

Another unnamed White House official added that there was a “bottom-to-the-top approach that doesn’t work. It’s going away. All those things feeding up to principals are the unnecessary piece.” Yet another said that henceforth, the NSC’s job would be to “coordinate and advise — not carry out — policy.” That was the way it was always supposed to be, until America elected a president who wasn’t a member of the uniparty.

Yet although the Deep State only came to the attention of most Americans over the last few years, the controversy over the hiring and firing of civil service employees is one of the oldest controversies of the republic. As “Rating America’s Presidents” explains, Andrew Jackson was elected president in 1828 on promises to end the hegemony of a privileged aristocracy, and to drain that swamp, he would need his own men in key positions. He removed a large number of civil service employees and replaced them with men of his own faction, which came to be known as the Democracy, or Democratic Party. This came to be known as the spoils system, after the old adage “To the victor belong the spoils.”

The term “spoils system” is today practically synonymous with government corruption, but Jackson began it as a blow against corruption, preventing the establishment of an entrenched bureaucracy that would oppose the president. The Trump administration has made it clear that such a bureaucracy, determined to thwart the president at every turn, is a genuine concern; it is time to bring back the spoils system.

The proponents of civil service reform, which ended the spoils system, never envisioned a situation in which unelected and unaccountable opponents of a sitting president in the FBI, the Justice Department, and elsewhere would be determined to destroy the president — or at the very least make it impossible for him to carry out his policies — and could not be removed from their jobs because of civil service regulations.

Wouldn’t government work more smoothly, and the executive branch be able to operate more effectively in the way the Founding Fathers envisioned it would, if the president were able to clear out the employees of these agencies who opposed him and replace them with people more in line with his vision? That’s what Trump and Rubio are trying to do at the NSC, and elsewhere. More power to them.

Illegal immigrant who threatened to kill Trump arrested by ICE agents

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an illegal alien who allegedly sought to kill President Donald Trump prior to self-deporting to Mexico.

Ramon Morales-Reyes, a Mexican national, was arrested on May 22nd after an ICE field officer received a threatening letter from Morales-Reyes targeting President Trump.

“We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans – we have done more for this country than you white people,” Morales-Reyes reportedly wrote. “You have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him.”

“I will self deport myself back to Mexico, but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in his head – I will see him at one of his big ralleys,” he continued.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Morales-Reyes’ arrest on Wednesday, calling on politicians and the media to “tone down their rhetoric.”

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” Noem stated.

“This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump,” she added.

Morales-Reyes, 54, reportedly illegally entered the United States nine times between 1998 and 2005, and has since racked up a criminal record including a felony hit-and-run, criminal damage to property, as well as disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier.

Morales-Reyes is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, pending deportation proceedings.

Victor Davis Hanson: DEI Enthusiasts Allowed the Free Palestine Movement to Get This Far

Last week’s killings of two Israeli embassy employees in the name of “Free Palestine” is just another sad example of how the Left has lowered the bar for the justification of political violence. Endemic antisemitism continues to spread on college campuses across America because the people responsible, DEI proponents and recipients, feel that they are untouchable, argues Victor Davis Hanson in today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words:”     “So, that is one thing that's happening. And that makes violence more permissible. The other is this endemic antisemitism. Let's be honest. It's not some cowboy in Wyoming in 1950 who doesn't like Jews. We're talking about two nexuses that come together and promulgate antisemitism. One is wealthy people in the universities—many of them DEI, but not all—who feel that it's either en vogue or, as DEI people, they cannot be criticized as victims for victimizing others, meaning foreign students from the Middle East. And in that cauldron, it becomes permissible to say, “Globalize the intifada,” “River to the sea,” the eliminationist rhetoric about Israel, storm a library, chase Jews into a library, damage the president’s office, rough up a Jewish kid on campus. It was all acceptable. There were no consequences. That's why those three college presidents either were fired or had to resign.”

Melania issues heartfelt social media post on Memorial Day: ‘Let us not only mount their loss but also celebrate their bravery’

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 19: U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrive at the signing ceremony for the TAKE IT DOWN Act in the Rose Garden of the White House on May 19, 2025 in Washington, DC. The first lady made the Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks (TAKE IT DOWN) Act a priority, traveling to Capitol Hill to lobby lawmakers and show her support for the legislation, which addresses non-consensual intimate imagery, or "revenge porn," and artificial intelligence deepfakes posted online and to social media. First Lady Melania Trump issued a somber but uplifting social media post on Memorial Day, honoring the United States’ fallen service members.

The first lady attached a black and white image of herself holding flowers at a cemetery on a rainy day.

“As we remember our heroes, let us not only mourn their loss but also celebrate their bravery. Each life lost serves as a poignant reminder of the price paid for our rights and the values we hold dear. #MemorialDay,” she wrote.

The first lady’s social media post followed after President Donald Trump issued a Memorial Day post of his own, slamming former Democrat President Joe Biden for allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter the country.

“HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS, WHO ALLOWED 21,000,000 MILLION PEOPLE TO ILLEGALLY ENTER OUR COUNTRY, MANY OF THEM BEING CRIMINALS AND THE MENTALLY INSANE, THROUGH AN OPEN BORDER THAT ONLY AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT WOULD APPROVE,” Trump wrote.

“AND THROUGH JUDGES WHO ARE ON A MISSION TO KEEP MURDERERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS, GANG MEMBERS, AND RELEASED PRISONERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OUR COUNTRY SO THEY CAN ROB, MURDER, AND RAPE AGAIN – ALL PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK, AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR OUR COUNTRY,” he continued.

“HOPEFULLY THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT, AND OTHER GOOD AND COMPASSIONATE JUDGES THROUGHOUT THE LAND, WILL SAVE US FROM THE DECISIONS OF THE MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL. BUT FEAR NOT, WE HAVE MADE GREAT PROGRESS OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS, AND AMERICA WILL SOON BE SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN! AGAIN, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The president also took shots at Biden during his Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery — while paying tribute to U.S. service members.

“We certainly know what we owe them,” Trump stated. “Their valor gave us the freest, greatest, and most noble republic ever to exist on the face of the earth, a republic that I am fixing after a long and hard four years.”

“Who would let that happen?” Trump questioned. “People pouring through our border unchecked. People doing things that are indescribable and not for today to discuss. But the republic is now doing so very well.”

President Trump moved on to recognize three notable service members who passed away while in the line of duty.

Air Force SMSgt. Elroy Harworth, Army Cpl. Ryan C. McGhee, and Navy CTTC Shannon M. Kent were all publicly recognized.

“These warriors picked up the mantle of duty and service, knowing that to live for others meant always that they might die for others,” Trump stated. “They asked nothing. They gave everything. And we owe them everything and much, much more.”

“Thank you for giving America the brightest light in your lives,” Trump told the families of the servicemembers. “It’s what you’ve done. We will never ever forget our fallen heroes, and we will never forget our debt to you.”

Victor Davis Hanson: Trump Must Avoid These 3 ‘Civilization Killers’ When Tackling the National Debt

Donald Trump is the first U.S. President in over 30 years who is seriously talking about reducing the country’s budget deficit, trade deficit and yes, the national debt, which has ballooned to over $37 trillion.   However, he must follow a specific formula, otherwise, it will end in tragedy, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words:”     “Jermone Powell, the head of the Fed, will not lower interest rates even though there's been a good jobs report, a good inflation report, a good corporate profits report. GDP is gonna be evaluated, apparently, upward and there's been low energy cost. That mortgage is still 4.25% Fed rate to 4.5%. And that means mortgages are still 6.5%, 7%. And that housing market is slowing as a result.   “So, you've got to get that down. And the way Trump has to do it is just two ways: Either cut the budget or raise taxes—which will strangle the economy—or continue the tax cuts. And hope two things: that the tax cuts—the extension—will prime the economy, along with cheap interest rates.   And the question that we all have now: Is cutting taxes on tips, is cutting taxes on Social Security, is cutting taxes on first responder, etc.—all of which Trump has mentioned—is that really stimulus as opposed to, say, accelerated depreciation investment for businesses? I don't know the answer. But I do know, as a historian, that if you do not cut the deficit and the national debt and you have bond raters like Moody's or the Fed that will not lower interest rates, you're going to be in a crisis.”

USMC GRADUATION – Bravo & November Company Distinguished Honor Graduates

Honor Graduates and Bravo & November Company retire the platoon guidon and the distinguished graduates are recognized during the graduation ceremony on Parris Island. Graduation date #Dec152017 #ParrisIslandPhotography Congratulations Marines! This is a great example of what a Marine Corps boot camp graduation is like. During Marine Corps boot camp Phase 4, the new Marines begin to transition from their roles as recruits into that of United States Marines. During this phase, new Marines now call their Drill Instructors by their rank. Instead of “Sir” or “Ma’am,” it is “Sgt” or “SSgt”. Drill Instructors continue mentoring the new Marines by conducting discussion periods on critical topics that will help the new Marines be successful in their transition to the operational forces. The new Marines are given more responsibility during this phase to ensure that tasks are accomplished and time hacks are met. No longer is every minute of their day managed by the Drill Instructors. Now, new Marines are given orders and expected to lead themselves in accomplishing the mission. This opportunity allows the new Marines to gain a better understanding of how they will be expected to operate in the “Fleet.” Marine Day 11, excited families line the streets and try to catch a glimpse of their Marine running by in formation. Family Day starts off with a motivational run, referred to as the “MOT Run” throughout the Depot. All graduating Marines run in formation while singing motivational cadence, loudly signaling successful completion of Recruit Training. As recruits run to the cadence of their Drill Instructors, parents, family members and friends line the streets and cheer as they try to find the face of their loved one among the crowd of new Marines. After the MOT Run, the new Marines have a chance to see family and friends for the first time during on-base liberty. Graduation is conducted on Friday in a formal ceremony and parade, attended by family and friends.
