Wikipedia has been accused of favoring left-leaning media sources while almost completely blacklisting major conservative outlets, according to a new report by the Media Research Center (MRC) released Monday.

The report reveals that the self-proclaimed online encyclopedia disproportionately dismisses right-leaning news organizations as unreliable while granting credibility to liberal sources.

Wikipedia, one of the world's most widely used online information sources, faces scrutiny over claims of political bias in its treatment of news organizations.

The MRC report stated that "Wikipedia effectively blocks 100% of right-leaning media sources — the ones most likely to give fair treatment to the majority in Congress as well as to incoming officials in the Trump administration. On the contrary, only 16% of left-wing media sources fail to win Wikipedia's stamp of approval."

The report assessed how Wikipedia categorizes news sources, finding that conservative outlets such as Breitbart, The Daily Caller, Newsmax, One America News Network, and the Media Research Center are labeled as "generally unreliable" or effectively blacklisted.

Luis Cornelio, the report's author, expressed concern over the implications of these classifications.

"Among the effectively blackballed media sources are Breitbart, The Daily Caller, Daily Mail, Newsmax, OANN, and the Media Research Center. Meanwhile, leftist media like The Atlantic, Jacobin, Mother Jones, ProPublica, The Guardian, and National Public Radio are given the green light," he wrote.

"This blatant misinformation means that Wikipedia is purposely feeding Americans information exclusively through the lens of one side of the political spectrum — the left."

Cornelio and Dan Schneider, vice president of MRC Free Speech America, further argued in an article for The Daily Wire that Wikipedia's sourcing policies distort political narratives.

"This imbalanced treatment is intentional and tactical. "It is a deliberate effort to exclude right-of-center perspectives from the online discourse, with the obvious goal of disparaging, slandering, and maligning anyone who opposes the radical left agenda," they wrote.

The report also claimed that Wikipedia's editorial decisions impact how political figures are portrayed.

It alleged that Wikipedia pages for President Donald Trump's appointees and other conservative figures were shaped primarily by left-leaning media, resulting in negative portrayals.

In contrast, Democrat figures receive more favorable coverage.

"This manipulation of information extends beyond just blacklisting certain sources — it actively distorts political narratives," Cornelio and Schneider wrote.

"Due to the systemic bias in Wikipedia's sourcing policies, the pages on Trump's appointees are overwhelmingly shaped by left-leaning media, presenting a skewed, and often hostile, portrayal of these individuals. The same treatment is not applied to Democratic figures, whose pages benefit from friendlier coverage and selective omission of controversies."

Wikipedia has not publicly responded to the report's findings.

The online encyclopedia claims to operate as a collaborative platform with volunteer editors responsible for content moderation.

Its policies emphasize reliance on reputable sources, but debates about which outlets meet that standard have long been a point of contention.

Conservatives have long bemoaned that Wikipedia is nothing less than a political organization masquerading as a not-for-profit organization.

Bondi Orders An Immediate Pause On Federal Funding For Sanctuary Cities

Newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered federal funding to be cut off from all cities who hold a “sanctuary” status on Wednesday.

“[T]he Department of Justice will ensure that, consistent with the law, ‘sanctuary jurisdictions’ do not perceive access to federal funds from the Department,” she wrote.

“Consistent with applicable statutes, regulations, court orders, and terms, the Department of Justice shall pause the distribution of all funds until a review has been completed, terminate any agreements that are in violation of law or are the source of waste, fraud, or abuse, and initiate clawback or recoupment procedures, where appropriate,” Bondi continued.

Major cities with sanctuary laws include Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Diego, among others.

Bondi’s order is set to take effect immediately, pausing the distribution of federal funds for 60 days, and adds that the Department of Justice (DoJ) “shall not enter into any new contract, grant, or other agreement to provide Federal funding to non-governmental organizations that support or provide services, either directly or indirectly (e.g., through subcontracting or other arrangements) to removable or illegal aliens.”

Trump’s new attorney general has also ordered the DoJ to investigate incidents of jurisdictions actively working against federal law enforcement to prosecute those that are impeding deportation efforts.

The Justice Department previously provided $1.56 billion in federal grants to sanctuary cities in 2023 under the Biden administration — according to data from the Center for Immigration Studies.

ICE has been able to arrest over 8,000 illegal aliens since Trump took office, marking a drastic shift in immigration policy following Biden’s loose border policies.

Additionally, Bondi also revealed that the Trump administration will end the moratorium that the Biden administration previously endorsed on federal executions, while also “re-evaluat[ing] instances of the prior administration's decision not to seek the death penalty.”

Bondi announced plans to “completely eliminate” the cartel threat by temporarily suspending “bureaucratic approvals and reviews” — expediting the process of capturing dangerous criminals involved in egregious criminal activity.

Bondi noted that Joint Task Force Vulcan, which was created in 2019 to target MS-13, will be “further empowered and elevated” within Bondi’s DoJ, expanding the scope of the task force to turn their sights to Tren de Aragua, a dangerous Venezuelan gang which has factions within the U.S.

Trump Admin Reveals The Millions Of Dollars Sent By U.S. Federal Agencies To Left-wing ‘Politico’ Outlet

The Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, revealed that the federal government has been subsidizing the left-wing outlet Politico — to the tune of $8.2 million.

Politico was acquired in 2021 by Axel Springer SE, a German news publisher and media company.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that the federal government was “essentially subsidizing subscriptions to Politico on the taxpayer’s dime.”

“The DOGE is working on cancelling those payments now,” she continued. “This is a government effort to ensure that we are going line by line when it comes to the federal government’s books. And this President and his team are making decisions across the board on [whether or not these] receipts serve the interests of the American people.”

The outlet received at least $44,000 from USAID last year as well, though it was also given millions from various federal agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services — which provided $1.37 million.

In addition, $1.35 million was paid out by the Department of the Interior, according to the USASPENDING website.

Meanwhile, social media users on Politico‘s official Instagram page and on X responded to the news.

“Not just a waste, but they’ve essentially been getting paid by Democrats to feed the American people endless lies, misinformation and propaganda. If you’re wondering why the media always gives the Biden admin a pass, deflected, ran cover for and loves democrats, this is why,” said one user on X.

According to PoliticoAP News has been accused of raking in U.S. taxpayer money as well. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Trump and Musk have recently vowed to cut funds from USAID, a $40 billion agency that has been accused of money laundering, working in tandem with Democrat officials, their allies, and other connected organizations.

Much of the U.S. federal funds were spent on Politico Pro, which costs around $10,000 per year, offering “non-partisan, real-time intelligence personalized to their area of policy focus.”

“POLITICO Pro is an all-inclusive platform that empowers public policy professionals with the tools, news, analysis, and other resources needed to succeed in an increasingly complex political world. Our features include exclusive and unbiased policy news coverage in real-time, in-depth policy analysis and a suite of tracking tools to help you keep tabs on policy developments as they happen…” the website states.

Musk quickly responded to the report, declaring that the U.S. government will no longer be supplying the outlet with federal funding any longer.

“This is obviously a huge waste of taxpayer money!” Musk wrote in an X post.

Politico has notably been an anti-Trump outlet throughout his time in office and now, publishing themes related to how the Hunter Biden laptop scandal had all the “hallmarks” of “Russian disinformation,” conveniently siding with the Biden administration. The outlet also recently posted an infographic on its Instagram page titled “Could Trump seize a third term?" – Actually, it’s not out of the question.”

Musk’s latest call to end the funding of Politico is another piece of a larger effort to root out corruption and waste from federal spending, while suggesting that the IRS is next on the list to receive an audit.
