Yikes! Biden’s Brain Misfires Spectacularly During New Year’s Eve Times Square Appearance

AP Photo/Evan Vucci
I can’t even remember the last time I bothered to watch the ball drop at Times Square on New Year's Eve. But it’s still a popular thing for many people to attend or watch on television. Naturally, the White House thought it was a good idea for Joe Biden to take a few moments away from his vacation to make an appearance with Ryan Seacrest during ABC’s live broadcast.

I bet they’re regretting that decision now.

This was by no means a hard-hitting interview. Heck, the softball questions couldn’t have been softer, and that’s perfectly fine. Frankly, this is hardly an event that needs to be politicized, so a few smarmy questions are par for the course, and Seacrest played his part well.

The very first question Seacrest asked was, "What sort of holiday foods have you been enjoying over the last few days?"

"Well, I've been eating and everything is put in front of me,” Biden quipped. “I've been [sic] pasta—which I love—eating a lot of chicken, chicken parmesan, I've been eating all Italian foods, basically."

Even this response felt awkward and overthought. Perhaps Dr. Jill knew what Seacrest was hoping for, and chimed in: “And ice cream."

“And ice cream,” Joe added. “Chocolate chip ice cream."

The funny thing about that is earlier this year, Jill was reportedly trying to get Joe to “ditch the ice cream.” I guess that’s not going so well.

The next question Seacrest asked of Joe Biden was: "As you look back and reflect on 2023, what sort of memories, highlights stand out for you?"

Easy stuff, right? Heck, it wouldn’t surprise me if Biden’s team got all possible questions in advance and personally approved them.

But what happened next is hard to watch. With the energy of a leaking faucet, Biden attempted to respond with what is clearly a rehearsed answer to a different question.

"Well, one of the big highlights stands out for me is—my dad used to have an expression. He said, ‘Joey, a job's about a lot more than a paycheck; it's about your dignity. It's about respect.' So many people through the midwest and in the center in the country, their factories are shipped overseas the last couple of times are out."

I know what you’re thinking. What the heck? You know who else was thinking that? Jill Biden. Joe’s top handler, who has repeatedly been thrust by his side to corral him at public events when he starts to glitch, couldn’t help but glare at him briefly before looking back at the camera with what appears to be gritted teeth.

"And then they were losing hope and faith,” Biden continued. "So we brought a lot of jobs back to the United States. People are in a position to be able to make a living now and they've created a lot of jobs, over 14 million. And I guess what, I just feel good that the American people got up, they've been through a rough time with pandemic and now we're coming back. They're back."

I honestly doubt that Seacrest was fishing for Biden to respond with a political answer designed to tout his record with a long-debunked talking point, because that’s not what the New Years Eve celebration is supposed to be about. Seacrest was just trying to get some easy questions and fun answers, and Biden botched that horribly.

Sean Hannity Has Had Enough of New York: ‘Goodbye, I Am Done’

Sean Hannity says he's had enough: "I am done."

No, not with Fox News. He's done with New York.

The syndicated radio talk host and Fox News host watched as his radio fairy godfather, Rush Limbaugh, moved from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida. He's witnessed Mr. New York City, former President Donald Trump, change his domicile to Mar-a-Lago. His buddy, "The Great One" Mark Levin, made big moves and detached himself from the Beltway to spend more time in the "Free State of Florida" — and closer to his in-laws. Colleague Dan Bongino left the Beltway and set up shop in Florida. After former Fox News host Tucker Carlson's Washington, D.C., home was attacked by Antifa, he left and now spreads his wings between his homes in Maine and Florida. Even "Morning Joe's" Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski read their tax returns and realized Florida was a better deal. And now, Hannity's out. He's doing a bunk. He left New York and moved lock, stock, and LLC to the "Free State of Florida."

He made his announcement on his radio show on Tuesday and his first show of 2024 on Fox News on Tuesday night.

If anybody is listening to this program for any length of time, been threatening to do this for quite a while, but we are now beginning our first broadcast of my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida. I am out. I am done. I’m finished. New York, New York, goodbye. Florida, Florida, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. But it’s great to be here.

Woke New York has chased another high earner from the state. Hannity said he's happy "there's no income tax" in Florida. There's been a wealth flight from New York and California for years now. Hannity is late, but no less excited about the move.

"For the first time that I can think of in my adult life," he told radio listeners, "I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values." Think about that for a hot minute. In Long Island, New York, where Hannity lived for decades (and recently lived with his new love, Fox News's Ainsley Earhardt), he never believed that local officials and representatives respected his beliefs.

Hannity told his radio audience that he'd wrapped everything up over the Christmas holiday and is now ensconced in his $5.3 million beachfront townhouse in Palm Beach, Florida.

He told his audience on Tuesday that "if anything, I'm probably late and behind the curve and many others have made the move beforehand, and there's not a single person that I know who's made a move like this who isn't happy they made it."

Good for him for finding a place that will appreciate him, represent him, and welcome him.

No response from Governor Kathy Hochul yet, but it wasn't too long ago that the New York governor told conservatives that they weren't welcome in her state.

"We're here to say the era of Trump and Zeldin and Molinaro -- just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong, OK? Get out of town." Hochul said. [They don't] "represent our values. You are not New Yorkers," she proclaimed.

Well sure, lady, if you insist.

Undoubtedly, Hannity will spend lots of time in New York. Just not enough days to have to pay income taxes. He's now proclaimed his declaration of independence from the People's Republic of New York.

Good for him.

Senator Bob Menendez is facing new allegations that he has received gifts from Qatar officials.

On Tuesday, a superseding indictment was made public that showed how federal prosecutors claimed that Menendez (D-N.Y.) accepted race car tickets and other gifts from Qatar as a part of a corruption scheme.

In the inducement, they also alleged that Menendez’s scheme continued into 2023, a year longer than initially claimed.

According to the indictment, a new accusation against Menendez is that he took payments from his accomplice, Fred Daibes, a real estate developer in New Jersey, in exchange for using his connections to assist Daibes in obtaining millions of dollars from a Qatar-related investment fund.

Prosecutors claim that the senator went above and beyond to assist Qatar.

As a part of a bribery scheme, Menendez, his wife Nadine Menendez, Daibes, and two other unnamed New Jersey businessmen were charged with crimes last year.

They have all entered non-guilty plea deals to the charges.

Menendez is accused of functioning as a foreign agent for the Egyptian government in addition to the bribery charges. It is claimed that he assisted Egypt in exchange for one of the defendants gaining a monopoly on the halal export industry.

According to the most recent indictment, Menendez put Daibes in touch with a principal of the Qatari Investment Company and a member of the royal family of Qatar when he was looking for an investment.  The indictment also stated that Menendez expressed his support for the Qatari government in several public statements while the Qatari investment fund was considering an investment.

“Menendez provided Daibes with these statements so that Daibes could share them with the Qatari Investor and a Qatari government officials associated with the Qatari Investment Company,” prosecutors alleged.

The indictment alleged that in August of 2021, Menendez sent a press release in which he praised the Qatari government, sending the text message: “You might want to send to them. I am just about to release.”

The following month, Daibes texted Menendez pictures of expensive watches that reportedly cost up to $23,990, after he had attended a private event in Manhattan hosted by the Qatari government.

Two days later, Menendez texted Daibes with a website link that tracked a resolution in the Senate that supported Qatar.

According to the indictment, in January of 2022, the senator messaged the Qatari investor ahead of his meeting with Diabes to discuss potential investments, saying: “I understand my friend is going to visit with you on the 15th of the month. I hope that this will result in the favorable and mutually beneficial agreement that you have been both engaged in discussing.”

Reportedly, in May, the Qatari official then provided tickets to the 2022 Formula One Grand Prix to a close relative of Nadine Menendez at the senator’s request.

The Qatari investment fund signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture with Daibes’ company that same month, after a meeting between the senator, Daibes, and the two Qatari officials. After that, the indictment stated that Daibes “gave Menendez a gold bar.”

The Qatari Investment Company officially joined Daibes last year by investing tens of millions of dollars.

The indictment also claimed that Menendez continued to receive benefits from the Qataris, including four tickets to the Formula One Grand Prix that year.

Menendez is accused of failing to disclose on his financial disclosure forms the gifts, gold bars, and race tickets that he received from Qatar and Daibes.
