Congress Can End the Nonprofit Status of Pro-Hamas Groups

The IRS has allowed Pro-Hamas groups to benefit from tax-exempt status.

“We give our heart, we give our life, we give our blood to the Palestinian people,” Manolo De Los Santos of The People’s Forum declared at a pro-Hamas rally in Manhattan. “Continue to resist. We stand with you. By any means necessary.”

“By any means,” the crowd chanted. A code phrase for violence and terrorism.

“We will use whatever we have in our hands,: De Los Santos continued. “A rock or something else. We will defend the Palestinian people.”

DeSantos had previously tweeted a celebratory Hamas video using paragliders and then armed terrorists attacking Israel with the message, “Long Live the Palestinian Resistance!”

In an official statement, The People’s Forum described the Hamas attacks that murdered over 1,000 Israeli civilians, the elderly, women and children, as an “unprecedented liberation struggle” by “Palestinian resistance factions”.

When it isn’t supporting the rape of women and the kidnapping of children, it’s promoting North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba, and celebrating the “hopes and aspirations of more than a million people who joined the American Communist Party.”

And The People’s Forum is also a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit approved by the IRS.

If the name sounds like a Chinese Communist front group, that’s because it’s funded by a Maoist millionaire named Neville Roy Singham who operates out of China and funds a network of organizations like The People’s Forum. Singham’s office faces “a red banner that reads, in Chinese, ‘Always Follow the Party.’ Resting on a shelf is a plate depicting Xi.”

Also there at the pro-Hamas rally in Manhattan was Nodutdol: a pro-North Korean organization demanding the “reunification” of Korea. South Korea has accused Nodutdol of being controlled by North Korea. The organization has claimed that North Korean defectors who risked their lives to escape are guilty of “imperialist propaganda” and that claims of atrocities are fictional. Despite that Nodutdol is embedded within the DSA and often takes part in pro-terrorist rallies.

On the same day as the Hamas attack, Nodutol tweeted “Power to every Palestinian fighting for their freedom, and glory to every martyr who dies fighting. For every martyr that falls, a new one will rise.” Like The People’s Forum, Nodutol is a 501(c)(3) IRS approved tax-exempt charity.

The David Horowitz Freedom Center had previously profiled the IRS decision to continue providing tax-exempt status to the Alliance for Global Justice, a Marxist organization, which uses that status to sponsor Black Lives Matter chapters, the Free Mumia Abu-Jamal Coalition in support of a cop killer, as well as bail funds whose mission is freeing rioters and criminals.

Among the organizations AFGJ sponsors is the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network which was banned by Israel as a subsidiary of the PFLP terrorist organization.

Germany has announced that it’s also banning Samidoun as part of its crackdown on all Hamas activities in Germany. Despite that the IRS has yet to pull AFGJ’s tax-exempt status.

Samidoun responded to the Hamas attacks by promoting banners featuring “solidarity with Al Aqsa Flood”, the name of the Hamas operation, a rally calling for “solidarity with the heroic resistance”, and another one urging “let’s celebrate”.

Samidoun’s support for Hamas atrocities, including the kidnapping of Israeli women and children, was made clear in its Instagram post boasting that, “the resistance” is “seizing occupation settlers” and hailed the “resistance operation, titled the Al-Aqsa Flood by Mohammed Deif, commander in chief of the Izz el-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas”.

There is no ambiguity whatsoever about Samidoun’s support for even the worst crimes of Hamas. Despite that it continues to benefit from AFGJ’s tax-exempt status which allows its fiscal sponsor to take in money from George Soros, the Ben and Jerry’s Foundation, and others.

The David Horowitz Freedom Center also exposed the support for Hamas by chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine. The national organization of Students for Justice in Palestine praised the Hamas attacks as a “historic win for the Palestinian resistance” and put out a ‘toolkit’ which explained that the Jewish victims were “not civilians” and could be freely targeted. Its poster for a ‘Day of Resistance’ featured an image of the paraglider that Hamas terrorists had used to massacre and rape young Israelis at a music festival.

Despite its support for terrorism, Students for Justice in Palestine enjoys nonprofit status.

The Freedom Road Socialist Organization, a Marxist-Leninist group, which promotes pro-terror content through its Fight Back News, celebrated the Hamas attacks, including the attacks on civilian communities which it cheered as “Palestinians have taken over the armed settlements that surround Gaza.”

“The Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and so many others represent the aspirations of a free people, Palestinians who insist on the end to occupation. Freedom Road Socialist Organization rejects the notion that freedom fighters are terrorists. We are proud to stand with the resistance,” it concluded.

The Communist group is funded through the Lucy Parsons Center, a radical bookstore in New York City named after a Communist activist, which enjoys nonprofit status. also issued a statement to “celebrate Palestinian Resistance!”

These are only a few of the examples of IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups or those funded by them celebrating Hamas atrocities. This is in clear violation of the tax code which bars such activities.

IRS regulations specifically state that “exempt purposes may generally be equated with the public good, and violations of law are the antithesis of the public good”. They clearly lay out that, “violation of constitutionally valid laws is inconsistent with exemption under IRC 501(c)(3)” and that “planned activities that violate laws are not in furtherance of a charitable purpose”.

But the IRS has refused to enforce the rules and regulations against Islamic terrorists.

When Lori Lowenthal Marcus, a journalist, applied for tax exempt status for her pro-Israel group, the IRS informed her that it “has to give special scrutiny to organizations connected to Israel.”

Lori Lowenthal Marcus told Front Page Magazine, “One of the excuses given to Z Street by an IRS official was that the IRS had to make sure we were not ‘engaged in terrorism’ because we mentioned ‘terror’ in our mission statement. The part of Z Street’s mission that mentioned terror? ‘We will not engage with, negotiate with or appease terrorists.’”

Offered clear examples of organizations that actually support terror, the IRS has done nothing.

Congress however could change that by regulating nonprofit groups that support terrorism. Taxpayers should not be subsidizing terrorists and their propagandists. And the tax code on this matter should not consist of general guidelines, but clear and unbreakable laws.

The IRS has failed to act. Congress can hold the IRS and pro-Hamas nonprofits accountable.

Spain: Socialist government minister accuses Israel of ‘genocide,’ calls for action at International Criminal Court

The uphill battle Israel faces isn’t only against the threat of its immediate enemies — Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hizballah, and the leader of them all, Iran. Far leftists are also fanning the jihad flames and working to undermine Israel at every turn.

It is a tragedy that innocent people died in past wars, including World War I and World War II. In Israel’s war with Hamas, it’s no different. Israel is at war with a ruthless and savage enemy, one which has been described as worse than the Islamic State. Hamas’ crimes against innocent Israelis couldn’t be any worse. Brutalizing and murdering infants is as bad as it gets. To turn a blind eye to this is incomprehensible, and nothing short of antisemitic hatred.

Also to be kept in mind is that jihadis are supremacists. In their view, infidels are to be conquered by whatever means, stealth or violence. The latest infidel useful idiot to support the Palestinian “resistance” is Ione Belarra, Spain’s social rights minister and leader of Podemos, “the junior partners in the socialist-led coalition.” She attended a pro-Palestinian demonstration and not only failed to call out the atrocities of Hamas against Israelis but accused Israel of a planned genocide against Palestinians. Although Belarra rejects the contention that she’s aligning with Hamas, she’s doing just that.

According to Newsweek:

Belarra called on the Spanish government to launch a petition for the ICC to investigate Netanyahu over allegedly “carrying out a planned genocide in the Gaza Strip” in retaliation for the October 7 surprise attack by Islamist militant group Hamas.

Belarra and her ilk, however, have nothing to say about how else Israel might exist in peace.

Spain now holds the presidency of the EU Council; this comes to an end on December 31. The propaganda war is an inevitable front that will continue to exact its toll on Israel as its enemies crow, despite the manifest injustice of the fact that Israel is forced constantly to fight for its own existence.

The massive surrounding Islamic states that occupied their own territory via brutal conquest refuse to help their Palestinian brothers as they criticize Israel.  The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has accused Israel of “crimes against humanity,” but said nothing about Hamas’ brutality. EgyptTurkey, and Jordan have shut out Palestinian refugees without receiving any significant blowback from the likes of Belarra.

“Spain rejects Israeli claims of its officials aligning with Hamas,” by Sam Jones, Guardian, October 17, 2023:

Madrid has dismissed Israel’s claims that some members of Spain’s acting coalition government have aligned themselves “with Isis-style terrorism” by criticizing Benjamin Netanyahu’s response to Hamas’s atrocities and suggesting Israeli forces are committing genocide and war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, Ione Belarra, who serves as Spain’s social rights minister and is the leader of Podemos, the junior partners in the socialist-led coalition, suggested the Spanish government should bring Netanyahu before the international criminal court to face war crimes charges.

After attending a demonstration in Madrid in support of the Palestinian people the following day, she tweeted: “Dignity has filled the streets of Madrid today to urge the end of the genocide that Israel is planning against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Freedom for Palestine.”

Belarra’s views were echoed by her Podemos colleague Irene Montero, who is acting equality minister, and by Alberto Garzón, Spain’s acting consumer affairs minister…..

Hamas strikes convoy of Gazans fleeing south, killing 70

Anything Hamas does like this, it blames Israel, and the international establishment media eagerly acts as its propaganda arm.

“IDF claims Hamas struck a convoy of Gazans fleeing south Friday, killing 70,” Times of Israel, October 16, 2023:

IDF spokesperson Jonathan Conricus says a strike on a convoy of Gazans fleeing to the southern part of the Strip Friday appears to have been a false flag operation carried out by Hamas.

“When you apply logic and think who would benefit from those very horrible images of children and civilians that were evacuating south and then they are apparently clearly dead, who stands to gain from that, only one organization: Hamas,” Conricus says during a Q and A session on X.

At least 70 people, most of them children, were killed in the strike, which occurred on a route that Israel said should be used for fleeing Gazans. Another 200 were injured.

Conricus says he expects the army will release proof of its claim in the coming hours or days.

“We can say clearly we did not try to strike anybody, any civilians in that area,” he says….

Ken Roth Falsely Claims That Israel Engages in ‘Collective Punishment’

Ken Roth, the former Human Rights Watch head, who turned that NGO into an unextinguishable fount of anti-Israeli animus, has just tweeted from his new post at Princeton, to which he moved after his one-year, extravagantly-paid year at Harvard’s Kennedy School, the following:

He goes on to say in his tweet that Israel’s attacks on Hamas in Gaza constitute “collective punishment.” Elder of Ziyon then takes him to task: “No, Israel isn’t engaging in ‘collective punishment’ under international law,” Elder of Ziyon, October 16, 2023:

He gave the source from the ICRC – and it proves the opposite of his attempt to paint Israel as guilty.

The first paragraph, which he skips, defines collective punishment:

The term refers not only to criminal punishment but also to other types of sanctions, harassment, or administrative action taken against a group in retaliation for an act committed by an individual/s who is considered to form part of the group. Such punishment therefore targets persons who bear no responsibility for having committed the conduct in question.

The word “retaliation” makes it sound as if the action must be done deliberately as a punishment, not as a consequence of going after the actual guilty party.

For example, if a terrorist group gets its arms flown in on flights t a commercial airport, a nation can bomb that airport runway – even if it means that legitimate airplanes cannot land. It definitely affects innocent people but it is not collective punishment, because that is not the intent.

Similarly, other dual use targets – power stations, TV and radio broadcast stations – may be attacked if they are also used by the combatant. (All of these are subject to proportionality analysis, as with any military action.)…

What Hamas did last week was prompted by a genocidal impulse. It was not an attack directed at combatants, though some IDF soldiers were among its victims. The targets were Jews, Jews from babes in swaddling clothes to grandmothers in wheelchairs. Every Jew, not just in Israel, but everywhere in the world, is regarded by Hamas as a legitimate target. It does not depend on what an individual Jew has done, or does, or will do, but only on the fact that someone is a Jew. This is far worse than “collective punishment.” Indeed, no Jew need have done anything to make him fit to be murdered by Hamas; only the fact of his Jewishness counts. That constitutes genocide.

Is Israel now inflicting “collective punishment” on the Palestinians? Has it been rounding up, arresting, or bombing Palestinians in the West Bank, or has it left them entirely alone? In Gaza, has it tried to impose a “collective punishment” on all the residents of the Strip? Quite clearly, no. It has bombed weapons hideouts, rocket launching pads, command-and-control centers, and places where Hamas leaders, including the mastermind of the recent attack in Israel, are now crouching in fear. The IDF does its best to warn civilians away from buildings that are soon to be targeted, by text messaging, telephoning, leafletting, and use of the “knock on the roof” technique. It is Hamas that places its men and weapons inside, alongside, or in tunnels under, civilian structures such as schools, hospitals, apartment houses, and mosques. Israeli pilots, too, call off attacks at the last minute if they detect too many civilians in the targeted area.

Right now, Israel has called on the residents of northern Gaza to move south to safety. Instead of inflicting collective punishment on the Palestinians in Gaza, Israel is making enormous efforts to persuade the ordinary civilians of Gaza to flee from the north to the south of the Strip, where Israel has no plans to attack, and where their safety will be assured. In the north, Israel will as usual do everything it can to avoid harming innocent civilians. Inevitably some will be wounded or killed; that is the nature of modern warfare. But Israel’s intent — and intent is everything — is to minimize civilian casualties.

None of this matters to Ken Roth. For several decades he’s been maligning the Jewish state. Why would he let a little thing like the Hamas attack on Oct. 7 stop him now?

Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison’s chief of staff promotes pro-Hamas rally in Minneapolis

Because of course. The Left loves Islam. They’re both authoritarian utopian endeavors enforced by a reign of terror.

“Minnesota AG Keith Ellison’s Chief of Staff Promotes Pro-Hamas Rally,” by Meghan Blonder, Washington Free Beacon, October 16, 2023:

Democratic Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison’s chief of staff on Sunday promoted a pro-Hamas rally in Minneapolis, where demonstrators called for Israel’s eradication and told Israeli “settlers” to “f--k off.”

Donna Cassutt, who has served as Ellison’s chief of staff since 2019, advertised the rally in a Sunday tweet, which alerted Minnesotans that the “March for Palestine” was happening “today.” More than 1,000 pro-Hamas demonstrators went on to attend the rally in Minneapolis. Attendees brandished signs and repeated chants with the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which advocates for the destruction of Israel. One attendee, meanwhile, held a sign saying, “Settlers fuck off,” while others called to “end U.S. aid to Israel.”

Cassutt’s promotion of the event comes as other prominent left-wing politicians face criticism over their own ties to pro-Hamas rallies in the wake of the terror group’s unprovoked assault on Israel.

The Democratic Socialists of America, for example, sponsored an October 8 “All Out for Palestine” rally in Times Square, where attendees chanted that the terrorist assault was “justified.” The rally prompted the party’s prominent members, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) to distance themselves from the demonstration. Ocasio-Cortez last week said the “bigotry and callousness expressed in Times Square … were unacceptable and harmful.”

But Ellison’s office is yet to distance itself from the Minneapolis rally and did not return a request for comment. Ellison has also remained silent on Hamas’s attack, with the Democrat failing to issue a statement on the terror group’s mass killing of innocent Israelis….

Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf has announced that the country is welcoming refugees from Gaza amid the war between Israel and Hamas.

Yusaf announced on Wednesday that Scotland is ready to offer asylum to the people of Gaza who have been displaced in the ongoing conflict.

He made the announcement on X (Twitter) emphasizing that they are willing to be a place of sanctuary for displaced victims.

“The people of Gaza are a proud people. Many don’t want to leave, and shouldn’t have to. But for those displaced, who want to leave, there should be a worldwide refugee scheme. Scotland is willing to be a place of sanctuary and be the first country to take those refugees,” he said.

Yousaf also urged countries in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. to welcome Gaza refugees.

“Let’s say that Scotland will be a place of sanctuary for them as we have shown kindness and compassion for others. Let us show it once again and this time for the people of Gaza,” Yousaf said. “And Scotland is willing to be the first country in the U.K. to take those refugees.”

In another video that Yousaf posted to X, he said that Scotland’s hospitals would care for people in Gaza who have been injured in the war.

The first minister asserted that he is now calling on the U.K. government to “begin work on the creation of a refugee resettlement scheme for those in Gaza who want to, and of course are able to, leave.”

He also mentioned that some of his own relatives were stranded in Gaza while expressing his country’s willingness to welcome Palestinian refugees.

Yousaf went on to say that Israel has the right to defend itself, but that it is inflicting collective punishment in Gaza, which is illegal under international law.

Several Democrat legislators have recently urged President Biden to push Israel into protecting innocent Gaza residents following a recent explosion in a Gaza hospital that killed hundreds.
