LGBT ideology in school is getting diverse

America is adrift today as God's design for gender, marriage and sexuality is often ignored and even cast aside in favor of a counterfeit approach. The Word of God is our only anchor in the midst of the cultural storm. When people “exchange the truth of God for a lie” (Romans 1:25), they become terribly disoriented.

LGBT ideology has created even bigger headaches in our nation’s public schools than in the boardrooms of Bud Light and Target. And in case youhaven’t noticed, a growing number of parents are speaking up and exercising their rights regarding the education of their children. Thankfully, many states are stepping up to protect the hearts and minds of unsuspecting children and teens in public schools.

For example, the Florida Board of Education has “approved a ban on classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in all grades (K-12), expanding the law that bans those lessons up to grade 3.” This clearly seems to be the educational approach the majority of parents in our country desire for their children.

Alternatively, Connecticut’s first LGBT-centered school is scheduled to open later this year. Patricia Nicolari plans to open this private school as an institution that “fosters a queer-friendly environment.” PROUD Academy is the first such school in Connecticut, and the fifth in the nation. 

Millions of parents believe that LGBT indoctrination in public schools is a serious threat to their child’s education and peace of mind, while other parents want their children in a classroom where LGBT ideology is central to the curriculum. The majority of Americans agree that public schools are not the place for such inappropriate instruction. 

Naturally, many Americans saw the storm approaching long before the drag queen story hours in public libraries and the recent Bud Light and Target debacles. 

In a 2018 CP op-ed titled, “Will America’s Public Grade Schools Become Transgender Mills?”, I wrote, “It’s possible to reject the (transgender) movement while remaining sensitive and helpful toward those who experience gender dysphoria.”

“Parents do not send their children to school to get indoctrinated with gender myths that contradict biology and human anatomy. Young people face enough fear and anxiety in our world today without their grade school teachers frightening them with stories of transgender experiments on children.”

The LGBT activist agenda sure feels like a religion in America today. President Ulysses S. Grant stated, “Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the Church, and the private school, supported entirely by private contributions. Keep the Church and state forever separate.”

PROUD Academy will offer students what certain parents want for their children, while Florida’s Board of Education has given parents in Florida the safe space they desire for their children. America is a land of options where parents across the ideological spectrum have a variety of convictions about what they believe is best for their children.

And with a mental health crisis afflicting so many young people today, many parents are being especially vigilant concerning the instruction their children receive at school. As LGBT activists continue to add more letters to their acronyms and more pronouns to their agenda, parents deserve and reserve the right to decide how and when they will address such weighty issues with their own children at home.

PROUD Academy articulates a clear vision for its curriculum and for after-school programs that align with its perspective on human sexuality and gender. 

Now compare that upfront approach to what developed recently in Colorado, where some families sued the school district for encouraging girls to join a “secret” LGBT club. The secrecy surrounding this after-school club is deeply troubling, especially since the students were told they would be attending an “art club” and that it would be OK to lie to their parents about the club meetings. Many discerning parents recognize and identify such deceitful tactics as “grooming.” 

Meanwhile, Florida is leading the way in truthfulness and transparency regarding their educational agenda. 

As Florida Rep. Chase Tramont said, “In the image of God, he created them. Male and female, he created them. Folks this is rock solid, irreversible, validated by science and our medical community. Period. You are either male or female. This is not subject to one’s opinion. It is demonstrable fact.”

Since millions of Americans agree with Rep. Tramont, we will continue to see state legislatures across the country working to protect the mental health of children and the God-given rights of parents. 

A relatively small number of parents want LGBT ideology instilled in their children. Even though they are in the minority, they are nevertheless free to establish their own private schools. After all, this is America. 

Which would you prefer for your family ... the State Board of Education’s approach in Florida, or PROUD Academy’s approach in Connecticut? 

Whether you choose public school, private school, or homeschooling for your children, the educational path you select for them carries greater consequences today than ever before.

“Ailing Pope Francis Hurries to Bolster His Progressive Legacy”

On July 20th, the Wall Street Journal released an article titled, “Ailing Pope Francis Hurries to Bolster His Progressive Legacy.” Lighthouse Trails has addressed several issues regarding the Catholic Church’s current pope since his inception in 2013. Pope Francis (aka Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina) is a Jesuit, and as we wrote about in March of 2013, is spiritually “founded” on a contemplative tradition. For those who understood the “fruit” of contemplative prayer, it came as no surprise when very shortly into his reign, his inter-spiritual and universalistic beliefs surfaced. A March 2013 by USA Today was titled “Pope Francis Calls for Intensified Dialogue With Muslims” which reported on his belief that everyone is “a brother or sister.”

Within a month of Pope Francis’ election, the United Nations was hailing him as a spiritual leader of the world, and by June of that year, his sympathies and defense toward homosexuals and gay marriage began to surface. 1, 2, 3 By the Fall of that first year, his goal to “win back the lost brethren” (the Protestants) under the guise of “unity” also came to light. In November, we posted an article titled “The Catholic Church Continues Drawing In the ‘Lost Brethren’ Through Eucharistic Adoration.”

Pope Francis’ efforts to bring the Protestants under the fold of the Catholic Church were zealous. And as we have documented, he had the help of famous and highly popular evangelicals such as Rick Warren, Beth Moore, Franklin Graham, James Robison, and Kenneth Copeland. Ray Yungen wrote about this in his article “Christian Leaders – A New Openness . . . to the Catholic Church.” Francis turned to an Anglican priest, Tony Palmer, who became the Pope’s right-hand man in bringing in the “lost” fold. At one point, Palmer stood at the podium in Kenneth Copeland’s church and told the excited and welcoming congregation that the “protest” was no longer needed and we, as evangelicals and Protestants, could reunite with the Catholic Church. It looked like Palmer would be able to make great inroads in aiding the Pope and the Catholic Church when he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2014 bringing his ecumenical work for the Vatican to an end, although the “new evangelization” has continued in his absence.

Francis’ progressive agenda has included environmentalism as Roger Oakland documents in his 2016 report/booklet: “A Christian Perspective on the Environment: How the Catholic Pope and Other Leaders Are Uniting the World’s Religions Through Environmentalism.” That same year, Pope Francis proclaimed a “new beatitude” – to see God in every person. And, of course, he would express such a belief. He was an admirer of the contemplative Catholic mystic Thomas Merton, who adamantly believed that God was in all. Ray Yungen’s article “Pope Francis and the Thomas Merton Connection” explains:

Just as Merton saw “fana” (Islamic mystical state) as one of the paths to spiritual unity, Pope Francis sees the various religions as one family. He is bringing Thomas Merton’s ideas of unity to the table of global unity among all humanity. Thomas Merton’s “contemplative style” (that Pope Francis referenced to Congress) saw no contradiction between Christianity and Buddhism; and Merton said he wanted to be the best Buddhist he could possibly be. When Pope Francis praised Thomas Merton (knowing full well the implications of this), he gave a green light for everyone to embrace interspirituality. And where there is interspirituality, there is no place for the Cross of Jesus Christ.

While the Roman Catholic Church is filled with false teachings and anti-biblical doctrines, Pope Francis has taken it to a whole new level. And as the article below explains, he is determined to do what he can to solidify his progressive legacy so that it continues even after he is gone.

ROME—Pope Francis is moving to shore up his progressive legacy as his health problems increase, making key appointments that could shape the Catholic Church well past the end of his pontificate.

Following hospitalizations in March and June, the pope named a new Vatican doctrinal chief, members of a Vatican synod that could consider major changes to church governance and teaching, and additional members of the body that will elect his successor, all in a little more than a week. 

The 86-year-old, who has had two operations for intestinal surgery in the past two years and now often uses a wheelchair, is planning trips to Portugal and Mongolia next month. 

“He’s a man in a hurry right now and he’s putting the final touches on this very long and gradual process of changing the church,” said Robert Mickens, English editor of La Croix International, a Catholic publication. Click here to continue reading.

Tennessee Republican State Executive Committee passes resolution calling on Governor Bill Lee to NOT proceed with calling a gun control Special Legislative Session.

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, the Republican State Executive Committee passed a resolution (it is not on its website) that calls on Bill Lee not to call the Tennessee Legislature into special session as he has threatened to do starting August 21, 2023, to enact his gun control agenda.

According to reports from Tennessee Star and the Chattanooga Times Free Press

The Times Free Press reported:

The motion for a resolution was originally proposed by Chris Morris, an executive committee member from Giles County.

“He’s putting the state, he’s putting legislators, both the House and Senate in danger,” Morris said at the meeting. “We’ll be the only state in a special session, and guess what? We’re going to be inundated with those others, for these crazies from other states.”

Morris said he was in the House gallery earlier this year as House Republicans expelled two lawmakers as they staged an impromptu floor protest of state gun laws following the Covenant shooting.

“I don’t know how many of y’all were up there — I was — when they removed the lawmakers, and it was crazy being one of two people in the gallery with all these nuts around you,” Morris said. “And the problem is, we as Republicans don’t get off our do-nothing and quit leaning back on our elbows and do less and go up there and support these legislators.

“We should be the ones packing the House. We have the majority, but we don’t. … I just think this body, we should issue a statement to the governor to stop” and not formally call lawmakers back to Nashville.

Committee member John Stanbery of Cleveland told the Times Free Press that legislators had an opportunity to pass the order of protection bill when they were in regular session and chose not to.

“So I personally do not know why you would call them back to do something they’ve already rejected,” Stanbery said. “They rejected it by choosing not to do it. Secondly, I think it paints a target on all their backs. I think they’re going to come up here and have to walk a gantlet. And a lot of it will be out-of-state people. And so I think it puts an unreasonable strain not only on government but their safety and security.”

Ultimately, it is likely that Governor Bill Lee, as he has ignored the calls of voters and even Legislators not to call the special session, will likely ignore the apparently unanimous resolution of the Republican State Executive Committee.

There is not really much that the State Executive Committee can do about that – but it can take up the issue of whether to reprimand or even expel Governor Lee as a “bona fide” member of the Republican party. Indeed, since he is openly carrying and pushing a pro-Democrat legislative agenda that is a direct attack on a constitutionally protected right, perhaps that is something that they should consider.
