The War on America’s Babies: What the critical shortage of baby formula is really about

We used to think regulatory agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were looking out for us, the people. Was it all an illusion? Each time the curtain is pulled back and society catches a glimpse of the bureaucrats throwing levers of misdirection and distraction and corporate interests putting the needs of the few above the needs of the many, we have a deeper sense of being scammed.

Nowhere is the shame greater than in the war against children, specifically babies. Our problems in health care can no longer be framed as Democrats versus Republicans. It’s now the Health Care Swamp versus the rest of us. That Swamp – is filled with captured regulators and the jumbo corporations that profit when our children are vulnerable or sick.

Babies reliant on formula for their survival, either because breastfeeding has not been possible or effective, or because they’re adopted, are some of the most heartbreaking victims of regulatory incompetence. You may not realize that the critical shortage of baby formula that made headlines two years ago is still in effect. Initially, the news covered reasonable complaints of parents, and Facebook support groups like “Baby Formula Search and Swap: Parents Helping Parents” cropped up, but these grassroots workarounds are no substitute for a regulatory enterprise doing its job.

The shortage was created when the FDA closed the Abbott Nutrition food processing plant in Michigan after two babies died from allegedly consuming baby formula from the plant. Reports said the bacteria responsible for their deaths did not match bacteria found “in the product-contact areas in the Sturgis plant. This came after two routine FDA reviews concluded that the site was operationally safe.” Abbott is responsible for 40% of the U.S. baby food market, so why was the FDA unconscionably slow in helping the plant reopen?

Despite the agony of families scavenging shelves for baby formula in the past two years, no one at the FDA will even be fired for this regulatory failure. If the FDA-induced starvation of America’s babies isn’t enough reason to reevaluate the entire agency’s future, I don’t know what would be.

FDA ineptitude is one thing. Outright corruption and corporate capture at the expense of our children is quite another. No doubt parents were relieved when their babies reached the age to start weaning off the scarce formula. Little did they know, however, that the baby cereals commonly used during this developmental stage, are poisoned with toxic heavy metals and FDA has known about it for decades – and done nothing. Lead, cadmium, and inorganic arsenic are known neurotoxins that slow and stunt the development of children to the point of lowering intelligence and diminishing later career achievement. Bloomberg Law lab-tested baby cereals a few months ago and found they contained unacceptable levels of these poisons. According to Bloomberg’s tests, rice cereals account for “55% of infants’ and toddlers’ exposure” to arsenic.

Another report from two years ago done at the behest of Congress revealed FDA permits these baby food products to contain 91 times the amount of arsenic allowed in bottled water, along with 177 times the lead, 69 times the cadmium, and five times the mercury.

Bloomberg reports that one family with a son who developed autism is suing “Gerber, Earth’s Best Organic, Sprout, Plum, Beech-Nut, Happy Baby, and Walmart.” A California judge looked at the evidence regarding neurodevelopmental impacts in small children from such toxins and ruled the scientific evidence of damage was sufficient for a jury trial starting this May.

Regulations protecting babies from such exposures need to be commensurate with the risk, and then they must be rigorously enforced, no matter how inconvenient that might be for the regulated food manufacturers. American regulators have been looking the other way for too long. The FDA claims the foot-dragging is because of fears that manufacturers might find it difficult or expensive to get the lethal contaminants out of their products.

We’re talking about neurotoxins in baby food, the kind that can damage a baby for life. Imagine regulators telling Ford and GM their cars don’t need to have working brakes because it might be hard or expensive and could be a burden on those jumbo corporations. Most would agree that not having a car is preferable to driving one that is unable to stop. Likewise, any parent would much rather have no baby cereal available in the stores than one that is poisoning their precious infant.

The FDA is supposed to protect us, the people, from rapacious corporations cutting corners and taking advantage of the most vulnerable. Instead, the FDA is protecting giant food and drug companies from us.

The FDA needs to call off the war on America’s babies and do its job. In the meantime, parents would be wise to prioritize breastfeeding whenever possible, explore making their own baby formula, and weaning their babies onto foods that they blend up in their own kitchens. The government doesn’t have our backs.

The Green New Deal and ‘Chinafication’ of the United States Bringing economic ruin to America; while benefiting China and its ruling class.

We are living through extraordinary times, not too different from what was portrayed in The Matrix—a 1999 science fiction film that depicted humanity being unknowingly trapped in a false reality. In truth, we are being deceived on a range of important and vital matters by a deep state ruling class residing in U.S. Government, universities, media, and business corporations.

Members of this ruling class work behind the scenes to create narratives to redirect resources and power to their benefit. Programs with the greatest mass appeal are often those wrapped in some moral or social justice cause, crafted with compelling catchphrases. The most captivating causes are often those that include a global vision—such as saving the earth. This explains the appeal of the Green New Deal, although common sense, history, science, and economics reveal that it is more a hoax than real.

It is important to understand that many elites who push these narratives have little affection for the U.S. and identify with China and the World Economic Forum on many matters. What is different now for us—the American people—than in previous times is the large number of U.S. government agencies that have fallen under the sway of narratives and colluded with the technology information sector.  As a result, First Amendment laws are being violated with social media companies effectively acting as subsidiaries of government agencies carrying out those agencies’ unconstitutional directives to block or cancel those with contrary views, effectively denying them access to mainstream and social media. Thus, narratives and propaganda, however distorted or false, often advance because well-reasoned dissent from prominent experts is censored.

Great harm against the United States has been incurred recently by this information-blocking duopoly. Consider just three instances—the results of which continue to weigh on the American people:

  • Doctors who were advocates for safe therapeutic preventative treatments for Covid-19 were censored and canceled to protect and ensure a risky vaccine monopoly and the outsized profits that came with that treatment.
  • The Hunter Biden laptop story was blocked by the FBI, which colluded with social media to censor the story before the 2020 election, which ensured the corruption of the Joe Biden family would remain hidden and facilitate votes for Joe Biden to win the Presidential election.
  • The dissenting voices and video recordings that refute DHS Secretary Mayorkas's lies that “the U.S. southern border is secure” have been largely censored, facilitating the influx of some 5 million illegal entries in the last two years—including criminals, terrorists, and human, child, sex and lethal drug trafficking cartels—all of whom put an enormous burden on American schools, health care facilities, and law enforcement.

But there is a bigger and more devastating hoax. It’s the Green New Deal and the goal of “Net Zero CO2 emissions by 2050,” which is proceeding largely unchallenged. The economic reality of achieving that goal, the core of which is ending so-called fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal) would bring economic ruin to the U.S., cripple its defense capability, and likely cause mass death.

Ken Gregory, the distinguished Canadian climate engineer, is unique in having done rigorous economic calculations on costs necessary to achieve Net Zero CO2 emissions in the U.S. by scaling up wind and solar energy sources and building out 30 days of battery storage to make up for the elimination of “on demand-anytime” fossil fuels. That cost, conservatively estimated at $290 trillion, makes Net Zero’s cost absolutely unaffordable. Even a Net Zero plan with 50% fossil fuels and 50% wind and solar would cost $21 trillion, making it impossible to fund given chronic U.S. deficits running about $1.5 trillion annually with a national debt wall of $32 trillion and growing.

It turns out that not only is the Green New Deal’s goal of Net Zero CO2 emissions a fool’s errand economically, but it’s neither grounded in science nor is it desirable.

Gregory Wrightston, a geologist with nearly 40 years of experience, and presently an “Expert Reviewer for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change,” has been researching and studying the Earth’s climate by applying the accepted scientific method of using proxy data from geologic strata to determine temperatures going back as far as the Bronze Age.

The evidence shows that present CO2 levels at 420 PPM are historically low, at one-sixth the level of the past cyclical peak temperatures. Wrightsone finds that the scientific evidence on climate and temperature supports historians’ observations that the flourishing of civilizations of the Bronze Age (3300 to 1200 years B.C.), the Iron Age (1200 to 600 B.C.), the Roman period at about the time of Christ, and the Medieval period of the High Middle Ages (850 to 1250 A.D.) coincided with cyclical periods of warm temperature, while cyclical low temperatures were accompanied by diminished agricultural output, famine, suffering, and higher death rates.

The push for Net Zero CO2 emissions is nothing short of another hoax being foisted on Americans to redirect resources and power. So, if this hurts most Americans, who benefits? Two groups: First, the elite stakeholders whose green investments benefit from government favor and subsidization. Second, the Chinese—who continue to expand their use of fossil fuels—but also dominate every step of solar panel production, and dominate every stage of the electric vehicle (EV) lithium battery supply chain—provide a 70% or more market share in both.

Even if the United States wanted to maintain its sustainable energy trajectory and wean itself from China for national security reasons, it would remain dependent on outsourced minerals for its wind and solar energy and EV transportation systems. And the key minerals such as lithium and cobalt, are controlled by one country—China. Proceeding with the Green New Deal means a weaker economy and further ‘Chinafication’ of the U.S.

In a pamphlet released this month by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, author Sara Dogan exposes the avalanche of leftist propaganda that threatens to eclipse public education in America and points the way toward a resolution.

Titled “Leftist Indoctrination: The New Curriculum in our K-12 Public Schools,” the pamphlet exposes the blatant indoctrination and partisan abuse of schoolchildren in America and proposes a simple yet effective solution: a Code of Ethics that when passed by state legislatures would forbid teachers from taking partisan political positions in the classroom, endorsing candidates or pending legislation, or promoting Critical Race Theory and radical gender theory to their students.

This updated and expanded version of the pamphlet, which was first published in 2018, documents the pervasive leftist propaganda which has inundated American public school classrooms and gives parents and concerned citizens the tools to start fighting back.

There were 10,000 illegal alien encounters at the border on Sunday alone, according to the border patrol. Estimates up and down the southern border indicate that at least 150,000 illegal aliens are prepared to cross the border at midnight when the pandemic-era program Title 42 will end.

The Biden administration isn’t ready. Not by a long shot.

Orders have gone out to all border patrol sectors. If there’s no room in shelters provided by NGOs, agents are to begin a “safe” release of illegal aliens to city streets. CBP facilities to house newcomers are already bursting at the seams and with NGO shelters already strained, it’s likely that thousands of illegal aliens — perhaps more — are going to be released at bus stops, gas stations, supermarkets, and in towns and cities across the border.

Those small towns and cities aren’t ready, either.

The potential for a humanitarian disaster is right in front of us. Large numbers of desperate people all trying to cross the border at once leave little room for error.

“The dam is about to break,” one Border Patrol source said.

The mass releases will only happen if NGOs run out of space, but officials believe that is likely. Officials have made 26,000 apprehensions and seen over 7,000 “gotaways” in just 72 hours, according to Border Patrol. That comes ahead of the end of the Title 42 public health order on Thursday, which is expected to be accompanied by an even bigger wave of migration on top of the already overwhelming numbers authorities are seeing.

The Biden administration has put into place several policies that they hope will stem the flow of illegals. There will be restrictions on families arriving at the border and single adults will be turned back if they transited through another country before arriving at the U.S. border. But asylum seekers will, with few exceptions, still be processed and released.

The predominantly single adult migrants are expected to be encouraged by the belief they have a greater chance of being admitted into the U.S. once the order ends. The Biden administration has said that is misinformation and has warned that it is stiffening penalties for illegal entry while urging migrants to use expanded legal pathways instead. However, the prospect of mass releases into the U.S. interior of those who have illegally entered the U.S., after crossing multiple countries to do so, is likely to undercut that narrative.

But even with the new policies, there’s going to be mass confusion at the border.

The administration’s new policy will automatically reject asylum seekers who illegally cross into the U.S. without first seeking protection in a country they traveled through.

It’s a notable change from the U.S.’s longtime policy of giving people the right to seek asylum regardless of whether they crossed the border illegally. Title 42 also prevented migrants from seeking asylum, but was tied to public health concerns.

The new policy is expected to let more migrants be rapidly deported to their home countries or Mexico — and comes with severe penalties, including a five-year ban on re-entry.

Zoom in: There are many reasons migrants from Central and South America are overwhelming border communities now — but experts and officials say smugglers and cartels are part of the problem.

They often pounce on widespread confusion about U.S. border policies to recruit and exploit customers, experts say.

There was no way to avoid this situation after Biden lifted the pandemic emergency. With no pandemic, it was hard to justify using pandemic restrictions to limit illegal crossings at the border.

There are still policies the Biden administration could implement that would improve the situation, including tightening up asylum eligibility in order to prevent those border crossers from trying to game the system. But the open borders lobby has Biden in their hip pocket and he’s not likely to change America’s liberal asylum policies — unless Congress forces him to.

The Biden regime has hardly made a secret of its authoritarian aspirations. It tried to set up a Disinformation Governance Board that would have policed speech that dissented from the Leftist establishment’s perspective and worked with Twitter and the other social media giants to silence and deplatform people with opposing views. Then, in his ominous red-and-black speech last September, Biden declared that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” If there was ever any doubt that this was a signal that the regime intended to treat law-abiding patriots as enemies of the state, there is no longer.

The Department of Homeland Security is now developing a video series encouraging Americans to snitch on their patriotic and pro-life friends and neighbors.

Through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), America First Legal (AFL) has obtained files that show that DHS’s Office of Terrorism and Violence Prevention, instead of devoting its time and attention to tracking and impeding the activities of actual terrorists, is focusing on getting you to inform for them about pro-life “suburban moms” and your “old friend from high school” who doubts the Leftist establishment line.

Yes, it’s just like the Stasi and the Gestapo and the KGB, except this time, your tax dollars are paying for it.

Michael Benz, the executive director of the Foundation for Freedom Online, reported Tuesday that DHS is developing “an online ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’-style video series to ‘deradicalize’ friends and family.” But the “radicalization suspects” aren’t even close to being actual terrorists: “They are typical everyday Americans with typical everyday American opinions.” Those opinions, however, differ from those of the Leftist elites, and now those Leftists elites have made it clear: disagreeing with them makes you a terrorist.

The videos contain a series of profiles of these allegedly “radicalized” Americans. One of them is “Ann,” a “suburban Mom” who “has become increasingly more concerned about the welfare of other children” and has become a “middle-aged pro-life advocate.” It’s not clear whether or not DHS realized what it was admitting when it said that a pro-life advocate was concerned about children, as its focus is all on helping you stop Ann’s terrorist activities.

Is Ann blowing things up or flying planes into buildings? No, “audiences watch Ann’s activities from the perspective of her preacher, her longtime friend, and her hairdresser. In one scenario, Ann utters the phrase ‘baby killer’ at a public ribbon-cutting event at a local bakery. DHS gives you, the bystander, three choices: calling Ann’s husband, contacting Ann’s preacher, or stopping by Ann’s house. In another scenario, as Ann’s hairdresser, viewers listen to Ann ‘bring up pro-life arguments and… ranting,’ after which Ann shows ‘videos of violent protests on her phone.’ Bystanders are given three choices: calling the sheriff on Ann, talking about Ann to coworkers, or researching the groups Ann talked about.”

What, DHS? There’s no option to join Ann in trying lawfully and peacefully to stop the wanton sacrifice of children to Moloch. But of course that is a rhetorical question. For Leftists, there is only one point of view: their own. The DHS video scenario epitomizes the Left’s hostility to dissenting views.

In another scenario, “Courtney” is an “old high school friend” of the person who is envisioned as watching the video. Courtney is also a “budding conspiracy theorist.” She “has become fixated on conspiracy theories regarding government connections to child abuse and trafficking:” Oh, well, we can’t have that! Courtney’s practice of “spreading conspiracy theories” and her rising “level of anger” is enough to get the DHS’s attention. Game players can opt to “monitor Courtney’s other posts and conversations, check in with her ex-husband, or message her to snoop on her private life.”

Then there’s “Pete,” who is “anti-government, anti-authority.” Heavens to Betsy, how could anybody be anti-government when we have this all-powerful, all-seeing Big Brother watching our every move for signs of “radicalization”? As you might expect, Pete is also an “abusive parent/stepdad,” and a snooper has “seen him post on some radical sites with violent tendencies.” Note that DHS does not say that Pete himself called for any violence. Just posting on a site that has “violent tendencies,” whatever that means, is enough. Players are given the choices of “contacting Pete’s wife, interrogating Pete about it at a softball game, or simply keeping ‘closer tabs’ on Pete’s online activity.” DHS wants you looking in the window at what ol’ Pete is up to, apparently.

Keeping “closer tabs” is what this is all about. This is police state stuff from the DHS. Setting Americans spying on their neighbors and reporting them to the state—that’s what they did in East Germany, and that’s what the DHS wants for us all. Time to shut that department down.

McCarthy blocks Tlaib from hosting ‘Nakba Day’ event at US Capitol, glorifying ‘Palestinian’ jihad

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy moved on Tuesday evening to block Michigan’s Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib from hosting an anti-Semitic congressional event planned for Wednesday, the speaker’s office confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon.

McCarthy told the Free Beacon that he intervened late Tuesday to reserve the Capitol Visitor Center space where Tlaib was set to host a Wednesday event to mourn Israel’s founding as a “catastrophe.’  In its place, the speaker will lead a bipartisan briefing celebrating the 75th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel relationship.

“It’s wrong for members of Congress to traffic in anti-Semitic tropes about Israel,” McCarthy told the Free Beacon. “As long as I’m Speaker, we are going to support Israel’s right to self-determination and self-defense, unequivocally and in a bipartisan fashion.”

The anti-Semitic ‘Squad’ member came under fire this week after the Free Beacon reported that she would host the event alongside an array of anti-Israel groups, including some that have defended terrorism. Tlaib’s event was meant to celebrate the “Nakba,” a Palestinian term for the creation of Israel that loosely translates as “catastrophe.”

It is unclear how Tlaib and her supporters will move forward with the event now that McCarthy has occupied their meeting space. Tlaib, or another member, could potentially attempt to reschedule the event for a later date….

US Rep. Rashida Tlaib plans to hold an event in the Capitol opposing Israel’s establishment this week.

“Nakba 75 & The Palestinian People” is set for Wednesday, to mark the “catastrophe” – the meaning of the word Nakba – of Israel’s establishment in a 400-seat auditorium in the US Capitol Visitor Center.

“Nakba Day” events portray the Palestinians as victims, rather than parties to a conflict with Israel. In 1948, five Arab armies attacked the fledgling Israel, with support from Palestinian leadership.

Her partners in organizing the event include organizations supporting the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel and NGOs that have expressed support for terrorism. For example, Jewish Voice for Peace has glorified the First Intifada in which Palestinians killed close to 300 Israelis, and the Institute for Middle East Understanding lionized the Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Khader Adnan that died last week after a hunger strike and Ghassan Kanafani, who orchestrated the 1972 Lod Airport Massacre in which 26 people, including 17 US citizens, were murdered.

Events at the Capitol Visitor Center can only be held by request from a member of the US Congress or an Officer of Congress, indicating Tlaib’s direct involvement in organizing the event.

US Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) said that “there is strong bipartisan support in Congress for the US-Israel relationship, and no effort that attempts to rewrite history and question Israel’s right to exist has any hope of succeeding.

“At a time when that relationship is integral to our joint fight against terror, expansion of Israeli-Arab normalization efforts, and shared security and intelligence efforts, this narrative only sows divisiveness and hate,” Gottheimer stated….

On Sunday, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chair of the House Oversight Committee, claimed to have bombshell evidence regarding Joe Biden and his family. Comer has been studying bank records and consulting with whistleblowers, and he plans to release the evidence on Wednesday.

“My message to the Department of Justice is very loud and clear. Do not indict Hunter Biden before Wednesday,” Comer told Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.

The White House responded by claiming that the allegations against the Biden family were “evidence-free.”

But one thing is clear: not only is there a trove of evidence, it’s rather damning evidence.

Comer emphasized that the committee’s investigation focused on President Biden and his family’s shady business deals that took advantage of Biden’s public office and posed a risk to national security. He stated, “I want to be clear, this committee is investigating President Biden and his family’s shady business deals that capitalize on Joe Biden’s public office and risked our country’s national security.”

Comer pointed out that many wire payments occurred while Joe Biden was vice president, citing an example of Biden’s involvement in Romania’s anti-corruption policies while his son and family were collecting money. He explained that the committee has evidence of Hunter Biden and his associates capitalizing on a financial relationship with a corrupt Romanian national, resulting in over $1 million being received by the Bidens through split payments via wire transfers. He noted that the payments stopped flowing from the Romanian nationals soon after Joe Biden left the vice presidency, highlighting a pattern of influence peddling.

Additional evidence was presented, including money from China funneled through the company of a Biden associate, Rob Walker, which is verifiable by bank records. Comer emphasized that the committee would not engage in witch hunts or deceive the public with empty promises, referring to the approach of Rep. Adam Schiff and other Democrats in the past.

Comer expressed his trust in the whistleblower and emphasized the significance of the subpoena as a powerful tool. He stated, “I trust the whistleblower. A subpoena from this committee is a powerful tool that I do not take lightly. The level of detail provided to Senator Grassley led me to conclude a subpoena was warranted, and I stand by that assessment.”

Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) also spoke, emphasizing the need to hold accountable those involved in possible corruption. She stated, “This could be the most corrupt scheme in American politics, where a sitting vice president… enriched [his] family from countries all over the world. We want everyone held accountable if they have violated their oath of office.”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) pointed out that many in the media were hellbent on accusing Trump of various things related to his business empire. But the key issue with the money that Joe Biden and his family were getting is that it was coming in despite there being no apparent business of the Bidens.

“[Trump] had a very big and legitimate business, which everybody in this room clearly knows and understands and can point to and say, ‘Ah, that’s the thing. That thing over there.’ Joe Biden has no business except his position and politics.”

Congressman Comer raised concerns about the financial transactions involving the Biden family, suggesting a connection between Joe Biden’s vice presidency and the money received by his relatives from foreign nations. He stated, “No one would legitimately believe it was mere coincidence that at least nine Biden family members were getting money from foreign nations while Joe Biden was vice president.”

Comer highlighted contradictions between the media’s claims and the evidence presented. He said, “The media said… no transactions happened while Joe Biden was vice president. We’ve proven that wrong. Joe Biden said in 2020 that his family never took any money from China today. We’ve proven that wrong.”

He expressed skepticism about Hunter Biden’s ability to convince foreign nationals to wire millions of dollars to multiple family members, saying, “It would be hard for me to believe that… Hunter Biden was so charismatic that he could convince foreign nationals to wire millions of dollars into not just his account, but eight of his family members’ accounts. We believe that there was a return on the investment for the investment that these countries were wiring money to the various Biden family members.”

Comer questioned the White House’s response to the allegations, suggesting that legitimate businesses would have invoices to support their transactions. He stated, “If these were legitimate payments, and those are legitimate businesses that your family created, then I would assume you have invoices.”

Highlighting the absence of legitimate Biden family businesses, Comer emphasized that the value they offered was through Joe Biden’s influence as vice president. He remarked, “The only service of value that could be provided was the influence Joe Biden had as vice president.”

When asked about the specific Biden family members who benefited from influence peddling schemes, Comer listed them, stating, “Joe Biden’s son, Joe Biden’s brother, Joe Biden’s brother’s wife, Hunter Biden’s girlfriend or Beau Biden’s widow—however you wanted to write that—Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Hunter Biden’s current wife, and three children of the president’s son and the president’s brother.”

Comer highlighted the unusual nature of the financial arrangements, saying, “So we’re talking about a grandchild. That’s odd. Most people that work hard every day’s grandchild doesn’t get a wire from a foreign national or anything like that.”
