Veteran Suicide Epidemic is Deliberate, Says Vets for America First Chief

There is a lot of evidence of "intelligence design" behind the growing epidemic of suicide among U.S. military veterans, says Veterans for America First founder Joshua Macias in this interview with The New American magazine's Alex Newman. He believes vets are being targeted by the establishment because they love America and know how to fight. But it is possible to deal with this crisis if there is a will, he said. That begins with ensuring that veterans are producing fruit by making sure that they have deep roots in the community. 🇺🇸 The New American: http://www.thenewamerican.com/

This Ad Lib During Biden’s State Of the Union Speech Went Horribly Wrong

Joe Biden had a number of gaffes during Tuesday night’s State of the Union Dumpster Fire speech. For example, calling Ukrainians “Iranian people", was a pretty bad one, but a different one really stuck out to me.

It happened shortly after Biden essentially claimed responsibility for ending the pandemic, and promised to continue to push for people to get vaccinated.

“We’ve sent 475 Million vaccine doses to 112 countries, more than any other nation. And we won’t stop,” he said. “Because you can’t build a wall high enough to keep out…a, a, a, uhh, a vaccine—the vaccine can stop the spread of these diseases.”

Well, that was awkward.

But this wasn’t a case of Biden flubbing a line from his prepared remarks. This was Joe Biden attempting to ad-lib in the middle of his speech but instead having a massive brain fart, leaving behind a putrid cloud of confusion. According to the prepared remarks for the speech, that nonsensical line about building a wall to keep out vaccines was not meant to be delivered at all:

We’ve sent 475 Million vaccine doses to 112 countries, more than any other nation.

And we won’t stop.

We have lost so much to COVID-19. Time with one another. And worst of all, so much loss of life.

This is why the White House doesn’t like Joe Biden taking questions from the media. Joe Biden might think he’s being folksy by trying to speak off-the-cuff during a relatively poor speech, but it almost always ends in embarrassment—not just for him, but the entire country.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Joe Biden a ‘Piece of Crap’ in SOTU Response

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) pulled no punches Tuesday night in her own video response to Biden’s State of the Union address, attacking his policies, calling him “mentally incompetent,” and even suggesting that he’s been compromised.

“America has been invaded at our wide-open border at the invitation of Joe Biden,” she said. “And every single threat is coming across. From terrorists to child trafficking, to deadly poisonous fentanyl sent to America courtesy of the CCP and the Mexican cartels. Joe Biden is recklessly endangering every single American’s life. But his most egregious action is flying illegal aliens in the dark of night across America, maybe to a suburb near you.”

She called Joe Biden a “great business partner to the Mexican cartels,” before shifting to Afghanistan, a topic that was missing from Biden’s speech.

“And while the media is feeding you blood, violence, and war 24/7 on every single TV, social media, and news app, owning the deadly Russian invasion of Ukraine, America’s still reeling from Joe Biden’s unforgiveable failure in Afghanistan,” she began.

“Only six months ago, Biden abandoned Americans in Afghanistan, armed the Taliban Islamic terrorists, and unnecessarily costs the lives of 13 American soldiers. These families have not even finished mourning for their sons and daughter,” Greene continued. “He needlessly lost the lives of 13 American soldiers and now has sent thousands of American troops over to Eastern Europe to defend another country’s border.”

Greene then accused the “war hawks, global elites, and neocons” of “beating the drums of war,” as she warned that Biden is preparing to “sacrifice more of our sons and daughters to defend another nation’s border, but not our own.”

“Under President Trump, this would have never happened,” Greene insisted. “For four years, our country had a real leader that led America and the entire world to peace through strength. But now we have a mentally incompetent, ‘feckless, dementia-ridden piece of crap,'” she said, quoting Kathy McCollum, the mother of 20-year-old Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum, who was killed during Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Days after the ISIS-K attack at the Kabul airport that claimed the lives of 13 U.S. servicemembers, Kathy McCollum called into The Wilkow Majority on SiriusXM, during which the grieving mother described Biden as a “feckless, dementia-ridden piece of crap [who] just sent my son to die.”

In her video, Greene went on to accuse Biden of being compromised, “because every world leader has contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop and much more to blackmail him.”

“So it’s no wonder America’s weak,” she continued. “We do not have a president that can defend our country. We have a president that puts America last because he is literally serving China, Russia, and the world.”

Confused Old Man Yells at Nation for an Hour

3,720 seconds of lies, fearmongering, and malapropisms.

BY DANIEL GREENFIELD

SEE: https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2022/03/confused-old-man-yells-nation-hour-daniel-greenfield/;

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

A confused political hack from Delaware staged a one-man insurrection by invading the sacred precincts of the Capitol building, hijacking all the TV networks, and yelling that the planet would be destroyed unless we gave him all our money so he could burn it and turn it into green energy.

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr, who loves the sound of his voice more than his crackhead son or the bastard grandchild of a stripper, had already inflicted the second-longest opening address in the history of this nation with a 2021 marathon address that killed more brain cells than meth.

Like the star of a slasher movie sequel, Biden Jr. returned to ramble through a worse sequel but kept it down to a mere hour and two minutes of torture. The two minutes are significant because when you have to endure the Vogon poetry of word salads, non-sequiturs, mumbles, grumbles, malapropisms, and random interjections, 120 extra seconds is an eternity.

During those 3,720 seconds of lies, fearmongering, and malapropisms, Biden took credit for defeating COVID, Putin, and the English language. While viruses and nations can’t be defeated with hot air, English never stands a chance once Biden’s mouth gets its slimy tongue on it.

With the National Guard having safely secured Washington D.C. and locked down the U.S. Capitol, there was no room for anyone to escape no matter how badly they wanted to.

Unless they refused to take a COVID test.

Despite that, Congress appeared empty and the applause hollow. Some members had failed to show. Others kept their distance from each other as if malaise and failure were catching.

Biden, whose minions had met the threat of a Freedom Convoy of half a dozen trucks on their way to D.C. by summoning 800 National Guardsmen, began by asserting that, “freedom will always triumph over tyranny.” The best evidence of that was the complete collapse of mask mandates and the entire COVID public health security state that Biden had touted last year.

That and Biden’s poll numbers which are so far south they practically qualify as illegal aliens.

With the price of gas, homes, and groceries out of the reach of most Americans, Biden began by taking credit for doing nothing to stop Putin from invading Ukraine. And then vowed that he, along with a coalition of “freedom-loving nations” would fight Putin until the last Ukrainian.

Or until their social media people run out of hashtags.

Biden, who confused the Iranians and the Ukrainians, spent more time bragging about plans to seize the yachts of Russian oligarchs than Truman spent declaring victory after WWII.

Putin “may make gains on the battlefield,” Biden argued, but “he will pay a continuing high price over the long run”. Sure. Vlad may take Ukraine, but Biden will take his yacht. During his unhinged tirade, Biden revealed a plan to end women’s sports in America but failed to name one thing that would actually stop Putin.

Except locking Vladimir in a room and forcing him to listen to a Biden speech.

"Putin will never gain the hearts and minds of the Iranian people!" Biden vowed. Much as Biden will never gain the hearts and minds of the American people, but has a shot with the Iranians.

After foreign policy, Biden turned to a subject he understood even less, economics. Trying to relate to the ordinary people whose lives and fortunes he had wrecked, he asserted that, "my dad had to leave his home in Scranton, Pennsylvania to find work or like many of you."

Biden's alcoholic father was a successful executive with his uncle's company who ran through a series of failed independent ventures before becoming a used car salesman.

Like many of you.

Having nailed down his working-class cred, Biden began touting his various pork boondoggles, past, present, and future which helped push the national debt past $30 trillion. Deep in inflationary territory, Biden relaunched a pitch for his Build Back Better plan including spending billions to build 500,000 electric car chargers for the starving Tesla owners of California.

Congenitally unable to take responsibility for a single damn thing, Biden blamed inflation, high prices, and everything wrong with the economy on some sort of corporate conspiracy.

The doddering failure-in-chief wanted to talk about a lot of things, but like most politicians what he really wanted was our money.

All of it if he can get it, lots of it if he can’t.

More money for his green energy donors who want to wreck our energy grid and put the cost of heating and cooling our homes out of reach. And then more electric cars so that no one who earns less than six figures will be able to afford a car. Then subsidized child care which even his allies have warned will price the cost of child care out of the reach of middle-class families.

With inflation out of control, Biden proposed pushing it even higher with a minimum wage hike and mandatory unionization, and the end of freelancers through the PRO Act.

Then it was time for Biden to declare victory in the pandemic. Rapidly changing science proved that the virus no longer spreads around State of the Union addresses, enabling the CDC to urge Americans to just follow the science, take off their masks, and vote for Joe Biden.

It’s the science!

“We can end the shutdown of schools and businesses. We have the tools we need,” Biden declared. The tools in question are polls that show even Democrats would rather french kiss a rattlesnake than wear masks at public events or do another year of virtual unlearning.

Biden then wrapped up the extended torture session that would have broken any of the Al Qaeda terrorists he recently freed from Gitmo by calling for open borders, illegal alien amnesty, abortion, and conducting gender experiments on young children. Then he closed by invoking God. At least unlike at the presidential debates, he didn't invoke Allah.

At this point, not even Allah wants to be associated with the Biden administration.

Squinting in defiant confusion, Biden angrily concluded by shouting, "Go get him."

The dozens of people watching were left to wonder whether he was talking to the voices in his head, an imaginary leprechaun, or his handlers in Beijing.

Americans meanwhile have already spoken.

In a USA Today poll, the top response from registered voters asking what they want Biden to do in the next year was, "resign, retire, or quit". Only 5% wanted him to tackle infrastructure, 3% wanted him to address health care, and only 3% were interested in global warming.

The country doesn’t want any of the clunkers that the son of a used car salesman wants to foist on them. It doesn’t want trillions more in debt so that Biden’s donors can get even richer. It doesn’t want to hear his inane ramblings or listen to his lies. All it wants is for him to go away.

That Wasn't a State of the Union Address, That Was a Stump Speech

BY ATHENA THORNE

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

When the state of the union is abysmal — and it’s your fault — the last thing you’d do is spend an hour talking about it in front of the nation you just spent a year tearing down. Especially when potentially cataclysmic midterm elections are breathing down your neck like Biden behind a third-grader.

And so, President Biden, who had been duly shot up with enough of the good stuff to win the Kentucky Derby, spent the first quarter of his speech talking about other nations. He spoke about the courage of the “Uranian” people in their hand-to-hand existential struggle to fend off the invasion his own weakness had provoked. “And a pound of Ukrainian people, a proud, proud people, pound for pound ready to fight with every inch of energy they have,” he crowed.

When he wasn’t fighting with his dentures and attempting to crown himself with the heroics of terrified foreign civilians, Biden tellingly spoke about how the United States and our European and other formerly liberal but now bordering-fascist pals (Canada and Australia, for example) are unified. The whiff of globalist communism swelled to a stench as he proudly disclosed that “the United States has worked with 30 other countries to release 60 million barrels of oil from reserves around the world,” and that “America will lead that effort, releasing 30 million barrels from our own Strategic Petroleum Reserve. And we stand ready to do more if necessary, united with our allies.” We all know that Leftists hate fossil fuels, so we shouldn’t be surprised to see them leverage the crisis they made by dumping strategic fuel reserves. This is an incredibly reckless thing to do when, thanks to them, western nations are increasingly dependent upon oil and gas deliveries from unfriendly places.

Once the Ukraine crisis had been thoroughly mined, Biden pivoted to his stump speech for Congressional Democrats. He spent a scant few minutes acknowledging that people in the States were suffering, but that was all COVID-19’s fault, you see. “We meet tonight in an America that has lived through two of the hardest years this nation has ever faced. The pandemic has been punishing.” No, Joe, the glo-coms’ overreaction, seizure of systems, and disastrous policies were punishing. The virus did a comparatively tiny amount of damage.

Undaunted, Biden went on to brag about dumping trillions into the economy while ignoring the predictable jump in inflation he caused. He touted the American Rescue Plan and repeated the universally discredited lie that his administration created record new jobs. (It didn’t — we’re just seeing the return of some of the jobs Big Left destroyed with “pandemic” policies, and we’re still millions of jobs short of where we were.)

The stump speech went on to take credit for Donald Trump’s “America First” policy of promoting the return of manufacturing to the safety and efficiency of American soil. Biden used the occasion to push for congressional passage of the Bipartisan Innovation Act to “make record investments in emerging technologies and American manufacturing.” We all know what that means: our tax money going to tech innovators who had been getting along just fine on their own, but an injection of sweet guvmint bucks is too good to pass up. And along with those bucks comes partnership with Big Government, including all its woke social programming and whatever other controls our ruling class feels like exercising. (Hint: de-platforming and de-banking one’s political enemies can be adapted to all sorts of industries. How’s your ESG score?)

Before long, the classic Democrat campaign tactic of offering to fling fat handfuls of cash at everything took center stage. Biden offered to ratchet up the socialization of medicine by imposing price controls on pharmaceutical companies and expanding Medicare’s power to set prices.

He urged that we “cut energy costs for families an average of $500 a year by combatting climate change.” This is ridiculous on its face: “green” energy is the most expensive and least reliable energy in the world. But Biden will hand out your money to people who green up their houses and choose to drive electric vehicles.

There were proposed handouts for child care, home care, long-term care, and affordable housing. I guess that, with over a million new destitute, illegal residents in the past year alone, these issues are becoming more important than ever.

Biden then blew up his whole “make it in America” stance by proposing new corporate taxes. And there was more globalism: “And that’s why in the G7 and other meetings overseas we’re able to put together, I was able to be somewhat helpful, 130 countries to agree on a global minimum tax rate so companies can’t get out of paying their taxes at home by shipping jobs and factories overseas.” Got that? Democrats want to make your vote matter even less, by making American policy beholden to global policies set by elites around the world for whom no American voted and whom no American can petition for redress.

Then there was a $15 national minimum wage (which would destroy the few small businesses that survived pandemic policies), free money for college, takeovers of community colleges, and increased unionization. There was COVID blather and offers of increased federalization of local police. There was gun-grabbing talk that included this howler: “Look, repeal the liability shield that makes gun manufacturers the only industry in America that can’t be sued. The only one.” Um, hello? Let me know when we sue Pfizer, Modern, or J&J for vaccine harm.

Biden pushed Democrats’ right-to-cheat legislation and touted his Historic™ (everyone drink) SCOTUS nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson. He pretended to care about securing the border then pivoted to legalizing illegal aliens who were brought here illegally by their illegal immigrant parents. He tipped his hat to abortion and LGBTQ+ “equality,” and took a stab at buying military families’ votes. A notable moment occurred when Biden (once again) waved the corpse of his son, Beau, and talked about environmental hazards soldiers faced that “put them in a flag-draped coffin.”

At that moment, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) heckled Biden by calling out, “You put them in, 13 of them,” a reference to the troops he got killed with his pathetic Afghanistan withdrawal.

When Biden said flag-draped coffins I couldn't stay silent. I told him directly he did it. He put 13 in there.

Our heroic servicemen and women deserve so much better.

Throughout the presentation, the two commie harpies over Biden’s shoulders were distracting to say the least. VP Harris’s overly emotive facial expressions and brown Hillary-esque pantsuit were irritating enough, but Pelosi’s incessant denture hockey stole the show. If anyone should have elected to keep wearing a mask, it’s her.

In his closing remarks, Biden gave a nod to the reason he was there and declared “the State of the Union is strong because you, the American people, are strong.”

“God bless you all, and may God protect our troops,” he said before shredding yet another norm by refusing to say “God bless America.” Instead, he bizarrely said, “Go get ’em!”

The Pandemic Has Proven Democracy Is an Illusion

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pulled out all the stops to quash the trucker protest against vaccine mandates, it became clear that democracy has been an illusion
  • For many years, the technocratic elite, with their global authoritarianism goals, have infiltrated governments around the world and pushed for surveillance and national security tools intended to suppress dissent
  • A key part of that dissent-crushing system is the surveillance apparatus that has been erected. While sold as a tool to hunt down dangerous criminals, its primary purpose is to stifle dissent among peaceful, law-abiding citizens. Financial warfare — banning people from using financial services — is another
  • Dissent is also stifled by applying criminal terms to those who disagree with the narrative. Case in point: "Anti-vaxxers" and anyone who disagrees with pandemic measures are now labeled domestic terrorists or domestic extremists. Using terms of criminality allows those in power to justify the use of unconstitutional repression and punishment
  • The U.S. must repeal both the Patriot Act and the new bio preparedness initiative, or else all privacy and freedom will be destroyed

As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pulled out all the stops to quash the trucker protest against vaccine mandates, without ever having actually listened to their complaints, a truth emerged, clear as day. Democracy has been an illusion. That's the conclusion drawn by Canadian journalist Matthew Ehret in a February 18, 2022, Strategic Culture article.1

"Who would have thought that Canada would ever be a spark plug for a freedom movement against tyranny?" Ehret asks.

"Countless thousands of patriots have driven across the country to bunker down in Ottawa in peace and high festive spirits which I had to see with my own eyes to believe demanding something so simple and un-tainted by ideology: freedom to work, provide for families and a respect for basic rights as laid out in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms ...

Mainstream media and political hacks have been working overtime to paint the Freedom convoy that converged on Ottawa on January 29 as an 'insurrectionist movement' full of 'white supremacists,' 'Russian stooges,' and 'Nazis' out to 'overthrow the government.'

Even the Bank of England's former governor (and World Economic Forum Trustee) Mark Carney chimed in on February 7 stating that 'this is sedition' and that 'those who are still helping to extend this occupation must be identified and punished to the full force of the law' ...

Faced with an organic civil rights movement of blue-collar truckers, farmers and tens of thousands of supporters who have convened on Canada's capital to demand a restoration of their basic freedoms, the current Liberal government has failed to show even an ounce of humanity or capacity to negotiate.

This shouldn't be a surprise for those who have seen the hypocrisy of neo-liberal 'rules-based' order ideologues in action over the past few years who are quick to celebrate the 'liberty' of citizens of Ukraine, Hong Kong, or Xinjiang when the outcome benefits the geopolitical aims of detached technocrats hungry for global hegemony.

The moment genuine self-organized labor movements arise demanding basic rights be recognized, then the masks come off and the rage of tyrants show their true faces."

Tyrants Are Showing Their True Colors

As reported by Ehret, the Deep State of Canada is now using the Emergency Measures Act to do precisely what Carney called for, namely identify and punish anyone who dares stand up for freedom.

The Act grants extraordinary powers to the banking industry to search people's social media accounts and private bank records and to seize the bank accounts of anyone suspected of supporting the Freedom Convoy, either in spirit or through online donations, including cryptocurrencies.

Victims will have no recourse, as the banks have been given full legal protection from lawsuits by those whose lives they destroy. Business owners in Canada who support freedom can also have their insurance policies canceled, and truckers can lose their drivers' licenses, either temporarily or permanently.

Still, the protesters did not give up. If anything, the threats appeared to have had the opposite effect. According to Ehret, the protestors were "renewing their commitments to remain in place," which they did until Trudeau sent in police2 to arrest protestors and tow their trucks.

While Trudeau remained dictatorial until the truckers had been cleared from the Parliament area, the political establishment, on the other hand, showed signs of cracking. Two Liberal Party members, MP Joel Lightbound and MP Yves Robillard broke with party ranks, calling for an end to the unpopular and unnecessary COVID measures.3 Then, finally, in a surprise turnabout, Trudeau buckled February 23, 2022, and said he would revoke the Emergencies Act he'd invoked earlier.4

On a global scale, the silence of leaders of democracies and republics around the world is as informative as Trudeau's power grab. By now, we would have expected leaders of the U.S., the U.K., France, and any number of others, to have stepped up to the microphone to denounce the Canadian government's actions.

But they haven't, and that tells you everything you need to know about where they stand on the issues of democracy and freedom. Worse, some have vocalized support for Trudeau's dictatorial actions.

In a February 10, 2022, tweet, Juliette Kayyem, former assistant secretary of Homeland Security under U.S. President Obama and a frequent CNN commentator, suggested the Canadian regime ought to slash the truckers' tires, empty their gas tanks, arrest the drivers, move the trucks, cancel their insurance, suspend their drivers' licenses and prohibit their recertification in the future. In her own words, "I will not run out of ways to make this hurt."5

The Illusion of Liberal Democracy Has Collapsed

As noted by Ehret, while we don't yet know how it will end, one thing we can be sure of is that "the illusion of liberal democracy ... has collapsed."6 That doesn't mean the globalist cabal will pack up their briefcases and retire. No, they're going to fight to stay in power until the bitter end.

But the hill they're standing on is getting steeper and slipperier by the day. Everyone can see that they're saying one thing and doing the complete opposite. You can't lay claim to being a defender of democracy, freedom, and equal rights for all while simultaneously declaring peaceful citizens the enemy of the state. It's just not credible. As noted by historically left-leaning journalist Glenn Greenwald:7

"When it comes to distant and adversarial countries, we are taught to recognize tyranny through the use of telltale tactics of repression. Dissent from orthodoxies is censored.

Protests against the state are outlawed. Dissenters are harshly punished with no due process. Long prison terms are doled out for political transgressions rather than crimes of violence. Journalists are treated as criminals and spies. Opposition to the policies of political leaders are recast as crimes against the state.

When a government that is adverse to the West engages in such conduct, it is not just easy but obligatory to malign it as despotic. Thus can one find, on a virtually daily basis, articles in the Western press citing the government's use of those tactics in Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela and whatever other countries the West has an interest in disparaging ...

That the use of these repressive tactics render these countries and their populations subject to autocratic regimes is considered undebatable. But when these weapons are wielded by Western governments, the precise opposite framework is imposed: describing them as despotic is no longer obligatory but virtually prohibited.

That tyranny exists only in Western adversaries but never in the West itself is treated as a permanent axiom of international affairs, as if Western democracies are divinely shielded from the temptations of genuine repression.

Indeed, to suggest that a Western democracy has descended to the same level of authoritarian repression as the West's official enemies is to assert a proposition deemed intrinsically absurd or even vaguely treasonous.

The implicit guarantor of this comforting framework is democracy. Western countries, according to this mythology, can never be as repressive as their enemies because Western governments are at least elected democratically. This assurance, superficially appealing though it may be, completely collapses with the slightest critical scrutiny."

The Dangers of Majority Despotism

As explained by Greenwald, the premise of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights is that "majoritarian despotism is dangerous in the extreme." "Despotism" means government in which a single entity rules with absolute power. Usually, this entity is an individual, but despotism can also arise out of majority rule.

It's interesting to note that while the Founding Fathers probably had no term for what we now know as the psychology of "mass formation," they were clearly aware of the dangers posed by an irrational majority.

As noted by Greenwald, "the Bill of Rights consists of little more than limitations imposed on the tyrannical measures majorities might seek to democratically enact."

For example, even if a majority of people agree that certain ideas and views should be criminalized, the Bill of Rights prohibits it. The Bill of Rights also prohibits the abolishment of religious freedom, even if a majority were to support it. Likewise, "life and liberty cannot be deprived without due process even if 9 out of 10 citizens favor doing so."

The Founding Fathers were clever enough to realize that majority rule can easily become just as destructively despotic as any dictatorship. Hence, they ensured that individual freedoms were enshrined in such a way that even if you're the last person in the country who wants to practice religion, you have the right to do so. The majority cannot take that away from you.

Waking Up to Reality as It Is

Greenwald goes on to explain how the signs of tyranny in the West have been evident for well over a decade. We just weren't paying attention. Only now, as we stare tyranny in the face first-hand, are we starting to really see it for what it is:

"The decade-long repression of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks, standing alone, demonstrates how grave neoliberal attacks on dissent have become. Many are aware of key parts of this repression ... but have forgotten or, due to media malfeasance, never knew several of the most extreme aspects.

While the Obama DOJ under Attorney General Eric Holder failed to find evidence of criminality after convening a years-long Grand Jury investigation, the then-Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), succeeded in pressuring financial services companies such as MasterCard, Visa, PayPal and Bank of America to terminate WikiLeaks' accounts and thus banish them from the financial system, choking off their ability to receive funds from supporters or pay their bills.

Lieberman and his neocon allies also pressured Amazon to remove WikiLeaks from its hosting services, causing the whistleblower group to be temporarily offline.

All of that succeeded in crippling WikiLeaks' ability to operate despite being charged with no crime: indeed, as the DOJ admitted, it could not prove that the group committed any crimes, yet this extra-legal punishment was nonetheless meted out.

Those tactics pioneered against WikiLeaks — excluding dissenters from the financial system and coercing tech companies to deny them internet access without a whiff of due process — have now become standard weapons. Trudeau's government seizes and freezes bank accounts with no judicial process.

The 'charity' fundraising site GoFundMe first blocked the millions of dollars raised for the truckers and announced it would redirect those funds to other charities, then refunded the donations when people pointed out, rightly, that their original plan amounted to a form of stealing. When an alternative fundraising site, GiveSendGo, raised millions more for the truckers, Canadian courts blocked its distribution."

Greenwald also highlights how American politicians have pressured Big Tech monopolies and the financial system to act as a joint censorship arm of government. Blocking people and companies from being able to use servers and financial transaction services have been key strategies to silence critical voices.

Why Assange Was Targeted

According to Greenwald, Assange's capture was precipitated by his denouncement of the Spanish government's violence against citizens of Catalonia in 2017 and 2019. Catalonia wanted autonomy from the Madrid-based Spanish government, and the government responded with shocking force.

"Spain treated the activists not as domestic protesters exercising their civic rights but as terrorists, seditionists and insurrectionists," Greenwald writes. "Violence was used to sweep up Catalans in mass arrests, and their leaders were charged with terrorism and sedition and given lengthy prison sentences."

Assange did not actually express support for Catalonian independence. He objected to the Spanish government's violent assault on civil liberties. This was why Ecuador rescinded Assange's asylum and handed him over to British authorities in April 2020. Since then, Assange has been held in a high-security prison in Belmarsh, even though he's never been convicted of a crime.

"All of this reflects, and stems from, a clear and growing Western intolerance for dissent," Greenwald writes.8 "This last decade of history is crucial to understand the dissent-eliminating framework that has been constructed and implemented in the West. This framework has culminated, thus far, with the stunning multi-pronged attacks on Canadian truckers by the Trudeau government.

But it has been a long time in the making, and it is inevitable that it will find still-more extreme expressions. It is, after all, based in the central recognition that there is mass, widespread anger and even hatred toward the neoliberal ruling class throughout the West."

Surveillance Apparatus Was Created to Crush Dissent

In response to the growing anger against the ruling class, the technocratic cabal has "opted for force, a system that crushes all forms of dissent as soon as they emerge in anything resembling an effective, meaningful or potent form," Greenwald notes.

A key part of that dissent-crushing system is the surveillance apparatus that has been erected all around us.9 While sold as a tool to hunt down dangerous criminals, we've come to realize that rarely is the system ever used to go after true criminals. Instead, it's used to identify people who disagree with a given narrative. Its primary purpose is to stifle dissent among citizens.

As noted by the ACLU,10 while most Americans think the Patriot Act's surveillance powers are there to facilitate the identification and roundup of terrorists, it "actually turns regular citizens into suspects." Dissent is also stifled by applying criminal terms to those who disagree with the narrative. Case in point: "Anti-vaxxers" and anyone who disagrees with pandemic measures are now labeled domestic terrorists or domestic extremists. As noted by Greenwald:

"Applying terms of criminality renders justifiable any subsequent acts of repression: we are trained to accept that core liberties are forfeited upon the commission of crimes. What is most notable, though, is that this alleged criminality is not adjudicated through judicial proceedings — with all the accompanying protections of judges, juries, rules of evidence and requirements of due process — but simply by decree ...

Few things are more dangerous than a political leader who convinces themselves that they are so benevolent and well-intentioned that anything they do is inherently justified in light of their noble character and their enlightened ends ...

Within the logical world where one is convinced that they really are fighting a white nationalist, fascistic, insurrectionary global movement to overthrow liberal democracy, then all the weapons we were long taught to view as despotic suddenly become ennobled ...

And it is through this self-glorifying tale which Western neoliberals are telling themselves that they have become exactly what they shrilly insist they are battling."

We Must Repeal the Patriot Act and Pandemic Powers

In September 2021, the White House announced a $65 billion bio preparedness initiative as part of the Biden administration's Build Back Better plan.11 As I've explained in many previous articles, Build Back Better is part and parcel of The Great Reset, which in turn is a technocrat-led attempt to implement global authoritarianism. As reported by Biospace:12

"The first goal is to transform medical defense, including an improvement and expansion of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics against known threats, and lay the groundwork for unknown pathogens ... Secondly, the plan calls for ensuring 'situational awareness' regarding infectious disease threats. This includes early warning and real-time monitoring of these viral threats."

In a nutshell, what this bio preparedness initiative entails is more invasive biosurveillance — meaning, the monitoring of your internal biology. Right now, claims that government wants to monitor people down to their body chemistry will earn you the title of a paranoid conspiracy theorist, yet the writing is on the wall. That's where we're headed, even if we're not there yet.

I believe the U.S. must repeal both the Patriot Act and the bio preparedness initiative, or else all privacy and freedom will be destroyed.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • An analysis meant to estimate the potential change in carbon emissions and water usage from a single dietary substitution found replacing one beef meal with turkey could potentially lower carbon emissions by 9.6% and water usage by 5.9%
  • A second announcement in the fake food industry revealed researchers from Israel can produce animal-free cow's milk from a "precision fermentation" process using microflora. The precision piece is driven by AI-generated DNA insertion into the microorganisms
  • The FDA gave genetically engineered milk proteins used in Perfect Day ice cream generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status. Yet, data show that regenerative farming practices have a lower carbon footprint than CAFO farming and fake meat production
  • Supporters of fake food promote the idea it creates a sustainable food source. But the process is more about creating a financial windfall for those who own it or invest heavily, enabling some to control populations through central production and distribution of food

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition1 sought to estimate the potential impact on carbon and water resources when a single dietary substitution was made in an individual's diet plan. The researchers analyzed many food items and found the highest impact foods may reduce carbon footprint and water usage. However, the suggested substitutions may have additional health challenges.

Many of the food substitutions the researchers want you to try also have higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids in the form of linoleic acid (LA). Omega-6 fats are essential for good health. However, a Western diet has an abundance of omega-6 fats and not enough omega-3 fats.

These two fats must be balanced in a ratio as close to 1-to-1 as possible.2 I consider LA to be one of the most significant contributors to metabolic dysfunction. In my opinion, this poison is the primary contributor to the rising rates of chronic disease.

As I plan to cover in my next book, LA leads to severe mitochondrial dysfunction, decreased NAD+ levels, obesity, insulin resistance, and a radical decrease in the ability to generate energy. As you consider the substitutions the researchers suggest, consider also the nutrient content of the food products and the long-term impact this has on your health. Instead, there are better options.

Substituting a Single Food Item May Reduce Carbon Footprint

In January 2022, researchers from Tulane University3 published an analysis of the 24-hour dietary recall information gathered from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) taken 2005 to 2010. The analysis was meant to estimate the potential change in carbon footprint or water usage if a single dietary substitution was made in the group of 16,800 adults surveyed.4

The researchers used the Healthy Eating Index (HEI)5 to assess the quality of each diet and then placed foods with the highest impact on greenhouse gas emissions at the top of the list. The participants' carbon footprint was calculated based on their current diet and then again with a hypothetical food substitution.

The data showed that the food with the highest impact on greenhouse-gas emissions is conventionally produced beef products. Cattle are conventionally raised in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO), which are notorious for producing large amounts of carbon and methane.6 Additional problems with CAFOs were noted in a study published by Johns Hopkins in 2019:7

  • CAFOs are subsidized by taxpayer money
  • Food produced uses 12 times the energy needed to produce food outside a CAFO
  • There are nearly 20,000 CAFOs in the U.S. where over 9 billion animals are raised and slaughtered annually
  • CAFOs are found more frequently in low-income communities

CAFO-raised animals are also fed foods they wouldn’t naturally consume, which affects the meat.8 The researchers suggested that swapping out one high-impact food item for another with a similar HEI score could have a measurable impact on greenhouse gas emissions. The intention was to provide a substitution that didn’t change the quality of the diet the participant had chosen.

Nearly 20% of those surveyed reported eating at least one serving of beef each day. The researchers estimated that if this 20% collectively swapped out one serving of beef for a serving of ground turkey, the greenhouse gas emission impact could fall by an average of 48% and water use could be reduced by 30%.9

The researchers went on to analyze the overall effect this would have if only 20% who ate beef each day substituted one meal with beef each day. The data showed it could reduce the carbon footprint by 9.6% and water usage by 5.9%.

Diego Rose, professor of nutrition and food security at Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, commented that their data showed even simple steps can help make a difference to climate change.10 Another of their recommendations is to substitute dairy milk for soy-based milk products.11

Fake Milk Is Now Possible

A second fake food news announcement was also made in February 2022. After 15 years of research at Tel Aviv University, Imagindairy announced a novel way of producing milk-based proteins without animals. It’s being touted as “actual milk complete with dairy proteins. But not a cow in sight.”12

Fifteen years of work produced the process, which Imagindairy company used to close a $13 million seed investment to commercialize the production of animal-free milk proteins. The CEO of the company believes the market is looking for more fake food based on animal-free proteins.13

The production uses microorganisms in a process they call “precision fermentation.” The scientists claim the process produces whey and casein, which are two of the key components in cow's milk responsible for specific properties, such as taste and texture. Scientists use microflora to produce casein and whey after providing microorganisms with the DNA sequence to make these proteins.

The company boasts this specific process does not require a cow. Instead, the DNA blueprint given to the microorganisms is produced by the software. The microflora are added to a tank with water, nutrients, and sugar. Since the organisms have the DNA blueprint, during fermentation they produce the two proteins.

The scientists then separate the proteins from the microflora, after which it is filtered, purified, and dried. The resulting powder can be used to make milk, cream cheese, yogurt, and cheese. The company is promoting the difference in greenhouse gas emissions between producing fake milk and CAFO dairy cattle production. Eyal Afergan, co-founder and CEO of Imagindairy, commented to Food Ingredients:14

“Consumers want the sensation of real milk, but at the same time, they don’t want to harm the animals. Our vision is to enable every dairy lover worldwide to enjoy tasty and nutritious dairy products while preserving the environment and protecting animals. Together, we can create a world where a dairy cow is just a cow nurturing her calf.”

If you'll note, the most important factor in producing fake milk appears to be the sensation of real milk without saying that a product produced by injecting DNA into microorganisms fermenting water, sugar, and unknown nutrients can provide the nutrition your body needs for optimal health. They would like to make the cow obsolete.

Lab-Grown Ice Cream Made From GE Fungi

In a similar move, the Perfect Day company received regulatory approval to develop ice cream in 201915 using animal-free protein made from genetically engineered fungi.16 The process of making lab-grown milk proteins is far from natural, but Perfect Day has tried to get around this by describing the process as “collaborating with nature,”17 which is another way of describing the DNA manipulation within microorganisms.

The Perfect Day company is pushing a future of fake food by “urgently bringing new products to the market.”18 They created the Urgent Company as the “very embodiment of our generation's sense of urgency … to use science and technology to make better, more sustainable things for us all.”19

The FDA has given the GE proteins generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status20 even though it's unknown what the long-term consequences of consuming this fake food will be. Perfect Day also claims that the proteins used to make their products are “some of the purest protein in the food industry.”

The fake food industry pushes lab-grown proteins by pointing out the obvious, that conventional and factory-farmed dairy production and beef production is not good for the animals or for the planet. However, the suggestion that the only alternative is to create synthetic food in the laboratory is far from the truth.

Regenerative Farming Practices Lead to Clean Environment

The study from Tulane University did not consider the overall damage to the environment and human health as they sought to find food substitutions. In other words, they substituted CAFO-grown beef for CAFO-grown chicken or turkey and cow’s milk for soymilk.

Impossible Foods, makers of meat, fish, and dairy products from plants,21 sought to prove they had a better carbon footprint than live animal farms. They hired Quantis to do an analysis,22 which is a group of scientists and strategists who help their clients take action based on scientific evidence. According to the executive summary, their product reduces environmental impact between 87% and 96% in the categories studied.

These included global warming potential, land occupation, and water consumption, two of the factors considered in the Tulane University study.23 Impossible Foods compared the fake meat product to meat produced at CAFOs, whereas a healthier and more sustainable choice is beef produced by grass-fed cows. However, there is a cleaner and healthier choice for your health and the environment.

White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Georgia,24 produces high-quality, grass-fed products using regenerative grazing practices. They commissioned the same analysis by Quantis and published their 33-page study25 demonstrating the comparison of White Oak Pastures emissions against conventional CAFO beef production.

While the manufacture of fake meat reduced carbon footprint by 96% in some categories, White Oaks had a net total emission in the negative numbers as compared to CAFO-produced meat. Furthermore, grass-fed beef from White Oak pastures had a carbon footprint that was 111% lower than a typical U.S. CAFO, and its regenerative system effectively captured soil carbon.

The fake food industry also relies heavily on the monoculture production of soy, which damages the environment.26 It's worth noting that much of this is GMO soy that contains Roundup ingredient glyphosate.27

In addition to soybeans, research has also warned that soybean oil, which is one of the most widely consumed cooking oil in America,28 can cause neurological and metabolic changes that are associated with autism, Alzheimer's disease, Type 2 diabetes, and obesity.29

Bill Gates Wants Rich Countries to Eat Synthetic Food

Supporters of lab-grown synthetic food promote the idea that it's about creating a sustainable food supply or making a “green” decision that helps the planet. However, in a piece published in early September 2021,30 the food critic for Financial Times made a strong case about how lab-grown meat is more about intellectual property (IP) and creating a financial windfall for those who own it or have invested in it.

Using a historical perspective, he looked at the patents that protect breakfast cereal, carbonated beverages, vaccines, drugs, genetically modified plants, and pesticides. In each case, the IP owned by the agrichemical businesses, Kellogg, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, and Big Pharma were the lifeblood of their financial success. He wrote:31

"Currently, there’s not a lot of IP in the meat industry ... Saving animal lives, preventing the clear-cutting of rainforest, even the reduction of methane farts don’t excite investors — those changes can’t translate to profit.

The holy grail is replacing the meat we consume with a proprietary product, owning the IP on meat. Coca-Cola and McDonald’s managed to grow patented food products into two of the top food companies on the globe by market cap, but a patent on animal-free ‘meat’ could entirely dwarf their achievements."

It should therefore come as no surprise that Bill Gates promotes the idea of producing and distributing 100% synthetic beef to fight climate change.32 Despite data having proven that regenerative farming strategies are healthier for the environment than synthetic food, and despite his ownership of thousands of acres of farmland,33 the core tenant in his book to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions is synthetic food.34

It is worth noting that this book was written by a man who built a 65,993 square-foot (6,131 square-meter) home with a 23-car garage, 20-person cinema, and 24 bathrooms.35 He also owns five other homes, a horse farm, four private jets, and several helicopters.

According to a study reported in Business Today, Gates’ annual carbon footprint is 7,493 metric tons of carbon, much of which is produced by his aircraft. In this case, you also want to follow the money. In an article published in Forbes, March 22, 2021, one financial reporter wrote:36

“Now, I don’t necessarily agree with Gates. And I hate the idea of governments deciding what their citizens should eat (which seems to be what Gates is suggesting). But my job is to help you make money. And there’s no question that there’s billions to be made in the technology behind plant-based meat.”

During Gates’ interview with MIT Technology Review, he said:37

“So no, I don’t think the poorest 80 countries will be eating synthetic meat. I do think all rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef. You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.”

Consider the last sentence in that paragraph as Gates and other technocrats are aiming at controlling the population through central production and distribution of food. It is important to understand that promoting lab-grown protein is not about sustainability but, rather, about wealth and power.

Using intellectual property, tech giants hope to replace living animals with patented plant- and animal-derived alternatives, which will effectively control the food supply. And Gates’ 242,000 acres of farmland spread across Illinois, Louisiana, California, Iowa, and nearly one dozen other states38 appear to be earmarked for genetically engineered corn and soy crops.39 In other words, he’s farming the basic crops needed for (plant-based) fake meat and processed foods.

Pfizer launches advertising blitz promoting new “blockbuster” drug for heart conditions that can be caused by COVID jabs

(Natural News) Just in time for all the heart conditions emerging due to its Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “vaccine,” drug giant Pfizer is blasting the airwaves with a new advertising campaign for its “blockbuster” heart drug Eliquis.

The “No Time to Wait” campaign, as the company is calling it, urges people experiencing heart issues to visit their doctors immediately for an Eliquis prescription.

Developed in conjunction with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), Eliquis has long been a big money-maker for Pfizer. And now that fewer people are getting injected and “boosted” with its Operation Warp Speed abomination, the time has come for Pfizer to start milking more lucre out of Eliquis.

Pfizer and BMS are reportedly spending $1.28 million on television ads alone to promote Eliquis. Then there are the internet ads, radio ads, bus station ads, and anywhere else that Pfizer can remind the vaccine-injured that there is help available to them with just one simple pill.

Anyone experiencing heart palpitations or shortness of breath could be at risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or some other type of blood clot or stroke, the company warns. These just so happen to be the very same side effects caused by Pfizer’s Fauci Flu injections.

Pfizer wants people “back into their doctors’ offices” as soon as possible so it can generate more profits

The ad campaigns are loaded with fearmongering, urging people to seek early medical attention even if they just suspect a problem in order to get on Eliquis immediately, which in turn will boost Pfizer’s profit stream.

“The aim is to get patients back into their doctors’ offices – and of course, if needed, be diagnosed with any relevant condition that may require them to take a blood thinner, such as Eliquis,” reported the industry publication Fierce Pharma

It is said that Pfizer will generate some $9 billion in annual revenue from Eliquis, which is described by the company as a “blockbuster blood thinner and atrial fibrillation (AF) drug.”

Eliquis is a major revenue generator for both Pfizer and BMS, generating more profit than competing drugs such as Xarelto (produced by Bayer in conjunction with Johnson & Johnson) and Pradaxa (produced by Boehringer Ingelheim).

It might sound like a joke, but Pfizer and BMS timed their relaunch of the “No Time to Wait” campaign at the same time as several “advocacy” organizations and medical societies, including World Thrombosis Day – yes, this is a thing – offered their support for Eliquis and the ad campaign.

According to these drug-pushing groups, all Pfizer and BMS are doing is “educating” the public with the new ad campaign.

On Valentine’s Day, a DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE) television ad appeared on the airwaves showing two patients describing how they “didn’t wait” to speak to their doctors about the AF, DVT, and PE symptoms they had suddenly begun to experience while performing everyday activities.

“Right now, people may be weighing a decision to visit a healthcare provider,” reads the corresponding campaign literature.

“However, symptoms like swelling, pain, tenderness, or redness in the leg, thigh, or pelvis can possibly be related to a potentially serious condition such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It’s critical to not brush off these symptoms.”

A BMS spokesperson also offered more input as to why the campaign was relaunched at a time when millions of people are now suffering heart problems due to Donald Trump’s plandemic injections.

“We received so much positive feedback from patients and advocates on the impact this campaign had on patients, we knew it was our responsibility to continue to evolve the program and further get the message out,” the spokesperson claimed.

FACT: Biden has sanctioned more American oil than Russian oil… American consumers are PUNISHED while Putin gets REWARDED with extra revenues

BY ETHAN HUFF

SEE: https://www.naturalnews.com/2022-03-01-biden-sanctioned-more-american-oil-than-russian-oil.html;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

(Natural News) Fake “president” Joe Biden is really proud of the fact that he imposed new energy sanctions on Russia in response to President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. However, these sanctions pale in comparison to the ones Biden has imposed on American oil.

Economist Stephen Moore spoke with Dana Loesch about how Biden’s apparent strategy is to cripple not Russia’s but America’s ability to produce its own oil. Whoever is pulling the Resident-in-Chief’s puppet strings is actually fighting against the interests of the United States.

“Essentially what Biden’s strategy is that it’s okay for Russia to produce oil but it’s not okay for America,” Moore is quoted as saying – watch below:

Moore is a former economic advisor to the Trump administration. He says that what Biden is doing is a serious national security issue as it is crippling the country’s access to energy.

“In the speech, what Biden didn’t do was talk about any kind of sanctions that would be related to the primary way that the Russians fund their military operations, which is through the oil and gas money,” Moore explained.

“What I had hoped that Joe Biden would say, what he should have said, is, ‘Look, I made a mistake. We should have been producing as much oil and gas as we could. We should have built the pipeline, I shouldn’t have discontinued it, and we’re going to do that now’ – that’s what he should have said.”

Biden’s sanctions against Russia don’t really affect its energy markets, which is what Wall Street wanted

Biden’s sanctions on Russia seem to affect everything but the energy markets, which Moore thinks is a mistake.

“Wall Street and the Biden administration were sort of the same side of this,” Moore lamented.

Loesch responded to this by stating that Biden’s sanctions on U.S. energy production are more extreme than the ones he imposed on Russia. Biden is now talking about launching cyberattacks against Russia.

Russia, by the way, gets 40 percent of its gross domestic product from oil and gas, Moore further explained. And the man who owns those oil fields, Moore contends, is none other than Putin.

“Biden is going to make Putin the richest person in the world,” Moore said. “You can tell I’m frustrated because none of these policies make any sense. And I guarantee you, having worked for Donald Trump, this is exactly the opposite of what Trump would have done.”

“Trump would have basically said, ‘drill baby drill, we’re going to use our oil, our gas, our coal, our hydropower, we’re going to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals so we can be exporting it to Germany and France and Spain and Italy so they’re not dependent on Russia’s.”

When it comes to energy policy and national security policy, Moore said, Biden seems to be “making every misstep” – or perhaps it is all intentional?

The interesting thing about all this is that while he was president, Trump actually had more sanctions in place on Russia than Biden currently does amid the Ukraine situation.

“The first two years of Trump’s presidency, CNN and all the media and all the Democrats were ‘Russian collusion, Russian collusion as if Trump was in the hip pocket of Putin,” Moore said.

“It turns out that the person who is in the hip pocket of Putin is Biden because everything Biden is doing is benefitting Putin.”

Russia Using Cluster, Vacuum Bombs Against Ukrainian Civilians

Kharkiv, Ukraine, after shelling by Russian forces:

Reports: Russia Using Cluster, Vacuum Bombs Against Ukrainian Civilians

BY VERONIKA KYRYLENKO

SEE: https://thenewamerican.com/reports-russia-using-cluster-vacuum-bombs-against-ukrainian-civilians/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

The war in Ukraine is reportedly getting uglier day by day. As the blitzkrieg planned by the Russian military failed, the country appeared to be willing to bring several types of widely prohibited weapons capable of creating mass casualties to the battlefield.

On Monday, Ukraine accused Russia of launching vacuum bomb attacks, which constitutes a war crime.

Speaking with reporters at the U.S. Capitol, the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Oksana Makarova, said, “They [Russians] used the vacuum bomb today…. The devastation that Russia is trying to inflict on Ukraine is large.” Makarova did not specify where the bombs were used.

According to a U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency report quoted by Human Rights Watch, this is the type of effect vacuum bombs have on people:

The kill mechanism against living targets is unique — and unpleasant…. What kills is the pressure wave, and more importantly, the subsequent rarefaction [vacuum], which ruptures the lungs…. If the fuel deflagrates but does not detonate, victims will be severely burned and will probably also inhale the burning fuel. Since the most common FAE (fuel-air explosives) fuels, ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, are highly toxic, undetonated FAE should prove lethal to personnel caught within the cloud as most chemical agents.

Vacuum bombs are said to be the most powerful non-nuclear explosives used in warfare. Their use is prohibited by Geneva Convention since they are “deemed to be excessively injurious or to have indiscriminate effects.” Russia is one of the signatories of the said treaty.

So far, there has been no official confirmation that vacuum bombs have been deployed in Ukraine.

CNN reporter Frederik Pleitgen tweeted a video of the alleged transportation of the weapons in question near the Ukrainian border Saturday, saying, “The Russian army has deployed the TOS-1 heavy flamethrower which shoots thermobaric rockets.”

Catherine Philp, a diplomatic correspondent for British outlet The Times, tweeted on Friday, “Rather grim intelligence briefings today on fears that Russians frustrated by unexpected resistance will unleash thermobaric weapons and indiscriminate shelling on Kyiv in a bid to break through with horrific consequences for civilians.”

Philp added that Russia has previously used such weapons in Syria, and added, “We are looking at war crimes.”

“Unleashing thermobaric weapons and the mass concentrated use of heavy artillery will cause the indiscriminate, unnecessary and unwarranted slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent people,” U.K. General Sir Richard Barrons told The Daily Mail.

In addition to that, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch both said that Russian forces appeared to have used widely banned cluster munitions in civilian areas.

Amnesty International said cluster bombs hit a preschool in northeastern Ukraine on Friday that was being used to shelter civilians, killing three people, including a child, and injuring another child.

Secretary-General of Amnesty International Agnès Callamard said, “There is no possible justification for dropping cluster munitions in populated areas, let alone near a school.”

Human Rights Watch reported a Russian ballistic missile carrying a cluster munition struck just outside a hospital in Vuhledar, a town in the Donetsk region. The attack killed four civilians and injured another 10.

The organization said it verified photographs posted to social media or sent directly by hospital staff that show damage from the attack, including two dead bodies, as well as the remnant of the weapon that was allegedly used, a 9M79-series Tochka ballistic missile with a 9N123 cluster munition warhead.

Arms director of Human Rights Watch Steve Goose urged Russia to “stop using cluster munitions and end unlawful attacks with weapons that indiscriminately kill and maim.”

A cluster munition refers to a form of air-dropped or ground-launched explosive weapon that releases or ejects smaller submunitions lighter than 20 kg designed to kill personnel and destroy vehicles. “In addition to the initial impact of the attack, there is a risk that some of these smaller explosives will not be detonated on the spot, and will later be found by civilians in these areas, increasing the risk of casualties, especially children,” per Meta News. Use of the cluster bombs has been prohibited by an international treaty since 2010 and has been ratified by more than 100 countries. The list does not include Russia, the United States, or Brazil.

Russian military command was unimpressed by Goose’s call, and on Monday allegedly used the bombs in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, killing at least eleven civilians and wounding dozens of others.

According to a National Review report, “the shelling was reportedly aimed at residential areas and included the use of cluster munitions, which release submunitions or bomblets considered especially dangerous to civilians since they are difficult to confine to a specific target.”

The munitions have reportedly destroyed a school in the city center.

“Graphic images and video revealed streets littered with the bodies of dead and badly wounded civilians, with other images showing spent BM-21 Grad rocket cartridges laying in the streets and having fallen through apartment roofs,” reported The Daily Mail.

The Biden administration said if the reports of Russia targeting civilians with cluster bombs were confirmed, then Russia would be considered guilty of war crimes.

“If that were true, it would potentially be a war crime. Obviously, there is a range of international fora that would assess that, so certainly we would look to that to be a part of that conversation,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday.

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his country’s deterrence forces, including nuclear weapons, be put on higher alert, citing “unfriendly actions” taken by the West in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The move was largely seen as an escalation of the conflict and denounced by Western officials.

After initially promising not to target Ukraine’s civilian population, Russia broke its promise and shifted to a new strategy of pummeling civilian areas in an attempt to demoralize Ukrainian resistance, The Wall Street Journal reports.

As of Tuesday, at least 136 Ukrainian civilians have been killed, including 13 children, and 400 have been injured since Russia invaded Ukraine last week, per the United Nations.

Madam Speaker, Madam Vice President, our First Lady and Second Gentleman. Members of Congress and the Cabinet. Justices of the Supreme Court. My fellow Americans.

Last year COVID-19 kept us apart. This year we are finally together again.

Tonight, we meet as Democrats Republicans and Independents. But most importantly as Americans.

With a duty to one another to the American people to the Constitution.

And with an unwavering resolve that freedom will always triumph over tyranny.

Six days ago, Russia’s Vladimir Putin sought to shake the foundations of the free world thinking he could make it bend to his menacing ways. But he badly miscalculated.

He thought he could roll into Ukraine and the world would roll over. Instead he met a wall of strength he never imagined.

He met the Ukrainian people.

From President Zelenskyy to every Ukrainian, their fearlessness, their courage, their determination, inspires the world.

Groups of citizens blocking tanks with their bodies. Everyone from students to retirees teachers turned soldiers defending their homeland.

In this struggle as President Zelenskyy said in his speech to the European Parliament “Light will win over darkness.” The Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States is here tonight.

Let each of us here tonight in this Chamber send an unmistakable signal to Ukraine and to the world.

Please rise if you are able and show that, Yes, we the United States of America stand with the Ukrainian people.

Throughout our history we’ve learned this lesson when dictators do not pay a price for their aggression they cause more chaos.

They keep moving.

And the costs and the threats to America and the world keep rising.

That’s why the NATO Alliance was created to secure peace and stability in Europe after World War 2.

The United States is a member along with 29 other nations.

It matters. American diplomacy matters. American resolve matters.

Putin’s latest attack on Ukraine was premeditated and unprovoked.

He rejected repeated efforts at diplomacy.

He thought the West and NATO wouldn’t respond. And he thought he could divide us at home. Putin was wrong. We were ready. Here is what we did.

We prepared extensively and carefully.

We spent months building a coalition of other freedom-loving nations from Europe and the Americas to Asia and Africa to confront Putin.

I spent countless hours unifying our European allies. We shared with the world in advance what we knew Putin was planning and precisely how he would try to falsely justify his aggression.

We countered Russia’s lies with truth.

And now that he has acted the free world is holding him accountable.

Along with twenty-seven members of the European Union including France, Germany, Italy, as well as countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and many others, even Switzerland.

We are inflicting pain on Russia and supporting the people of Ukraine. Putin is now isolated from the world more than ever.

Together with our allies –we are right now enforcing powerful economic sanctions.

We are cutting off Russia’s largest banks from the international financial system.

Preventing Russia’s central bank from defending the Russian Ruble making Putin’s $630 Billion “war fund” worthless.

We are choking off Russia’s access to technology that will sap its economic strength and weaken its military for years to come.

Tonight I say to the Russian oligarchs and corrupt leaders who have bilked billions of dollars off this violent regime no more.

The U.S. Department of Justice is assembling a dedicated task force to go after the crimes of Russian oligarchs.

We are joining with our European allies to find and seize your yachts your luxury apartments your private jets. We are coming for your ill-begotten gains.

And tonight I am announcing that we will join our allies in closing off American air space to all Russian flights – further isolating Russia – and adding an additional squeeze –on their economy. The Ruble has lost 30% of its value.

The Russian stock market has lost 40% of its value and trading remains suspended. Russia’s economy is reeling and Putin alone is to blame.

Together with our allies we are providing support to the Ukrainians in their fight for freedom. Military assistance. Economic assistance. Humanitarian assistance.

We are giving more than $1 Billion in direct assistance to Ukraine.

And we will continue to aid the Ukrainian people as they defend their country and to help ease their suffering.

Let me be clear, our forces are not engaged and will not engage in conflict with Russian forces in Ukraine.

Our forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine, but to defend our NATO Allies – in the event that Putin decides to keep moving west.

For that purpose we’ve mobilized American ground forces, air squadrons, and ship deployments to protect NATO countries including Poland, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

As I have made crystal clear the United States and our Allies will defend every inch of territory of NATO countries with the full force of our collective power.

And we remain clear-eyed. The Ukrainians are fighting back with pure courage. But the next few days weeks, months, will be hard on them.

Putin has unleashed violence and chaos. But while he may make gains on the battlefield – he will pay a continuing high price over the long run.

And a proud Ukrainian people, who have known 30 years of independence, have repeatedly shown that they will not tolerate anyone who tries to take their country backwards.

To all Americans, I will be honest with you, as I’ve always promised. A Russian dictator, invading a foreign country, has costs around the world.

And I’m taking robust action to make sure the pain of our sanctions is targeted at Russia’s economy. And I will use every tool at our disposal to protect American businesses and consumers.

Tonight, I can announce that the United States has worked with 30 other countries to release 60 Million barrels of oil from reserves around the world.

America will lead that effort, releasing 30 Million barrels from our own Strategic Petroleum Reserve. And we stand ready to do more if necessary, unified with our allies.

These steps will help blunt gas prices here at home. And I know the news about what’s happening can seem alarming.

But I want you to know that we are going to be okay.

When the history of this era is written Putin’s war on Ukraine will have left Russia weaker and the rest of the world stronger.

While it shouldn’t have taken something so terrible for people around the world to see what’s at stake now everyone sees it clearly.

We see the unity among leaders of nations and a more unified Europe a more unified West. And we see unity among the people who are gathering in cities in large crowds around the world even in Russia to demonstrate their support for Ukraine.

In the battle between democracy and autocracy, democracies are rising to the moment, and the world is clearly choosing the side of peace and security.

This is a real test. It’s going to take time. So let us continue to draw inspiration from the iron will of the Ukrainian people.

To our fellow Ukrainian Americans who forge a deep bond that connects our two nations we stand with you.

Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he will never gain the hearts and souls of the Ukrainian people.

He will never extinguish their love of freedom. He will never weaken the resolve of the free world.

We meet tonight in an America that has lived through two of the hardest years this nation has ever faced.

The pandemic has been punishing.

And so many families are living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to keep up with the rising cost of food, gas, housing, and so much more.

I understand.

I remember when my Dad had to leave our home in Scranton, Pennsylvania to find work. I grew up in a family where if the price of food went up, you felt it.

That’s why one of the first things I did as President was fight to pass the American Rescue Plan.

Because people were hurting. We needed to act, and we did.

Few pieces of legislation have done more in a critical moment in our history to lift us out of crisis.

It fueled our efforts to vaccinate the nation and combat COVID-19. It delivered immediate economic relief for tens of millions of Americans.

Helped put food on their table, keep a roof over their heads, and cut the cost of health insurance.

And as my Dad used to say, it gave people a little breathing room.

And unlike the $2 Trillion tax cut passed in the previous administration that benefitted the top 1% of Americans, the American Rescue Plan helped working people—and left no one behind.

And it worked. It created jobs. Lots of jobs.

In fact—our economy created over 6.5 Million new jobs just last year, more jobs created in one year
than ever before in the history of America.

Our economy grew at a rate of 5.7% last year, the strongest growth in nearly 40 years, the first step in bringing fundamental change to an economy that hasn’t worked for the working people of this nation for too long.

For the past 40 years we were told that if we gave tax breaks to those at the very top, the benefits would trickle down to everyone else.

But that trickle-down theory led to weaker economic growth, lower wages, bigger deficits, and the widest gap between those at the top and everyone else in nearly a century.

Vice President Harris and I ran for office with a new economic vision for America.

Invest in America. Educate Americans. Grow the workforce. Build the economy from the bottom up
and the middle out, not from the top down.

Because we know that when the middle class grows, the poor have a ladder up and the wealthy do very well.

America used to have the best roads, bridges, and airports on Earth.

Now our infrastructure is ranked 13th in the world.

We won’t be able to compete for the jobs of the 21st Century if we don’t fix that.

That’s why it was so important to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—the most sweeping investment to rebuild America in history.

This was a bipartisan effort, and I want to thank the members of both parties who worked to make it happen.

We’re done talking about infrastructure weeks.

We’re going to have an infrastructure decade.

It is going to transform America and put us on a path to win the economic competition of the 21st Century that we face with the rest of the world—particularly with China.

As I’ve told Xi Jinping, it is never a good bet to bet against the American people.

We’ll create good jobs for millions of Americans, modernizing roads, airports, ports, and waterways all across America.

And we’ll do it all to withstand the devastating effects of the climate crisis and promote environmental justice.

We’ll build a national network of 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations, begin to replace poisonous lead pipes—so every child—and every American—has clean water to drink at home and at school, provide affordable high-speed internet for every American—urban, suburban, rural, and tribal communities.

4,000 projects have already been announced.

And tonight, I’m announcing that this year we will start fixing over 65,000 miles of highway and 1,500 bridges in disrepair.

When we use taxpayer dollars to rebuild America – we are going to Buy American: buy American products to support American jobs.

The federal government spends about $600 Billion a year to keep the country safe and secure.

There’s been a law on the books for almost a century
to make sure taxpayers’ dollars support American jobs and businesses.

Every Administration says they’ll do it, but we are actually doing it.

We will buy American to make sure everything from the deck of an aircraft carrier to the steel on highway guardrails are made in America.

But to compete for the best jobs of the future, we also need to level the playing field with China and other competitors.

That’s why it is so important to pass the Bipartisan Innovation Act sitting in Congress that will make record investments in emerging technologies and American manufacturing.

Let me give you one example of why it’s so important to pass it.

If you travel 20 miles east of Columbus, Ohio, you’ll find 1,000 empty acres of land.

It won’t look like much, but if you stop and look closely, you’ll see a “Field of dreams,” the ground on which America’s future will be built.

This is where Intel, the American company that helped build Silicon Valley, is going to build its $20 billion semiconductor “mega site”.

Up to eight state-of-the-art factories in one place. 10,000 new good-paying jobs.

Some of the most sophisticated manufacturing in the world to make computer chips the size of a fingertip that power the world and our everyday lives.

Smartphones. The Internet. Technology we have yet to invent.

But that’s just the beginning.

Intel’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, who is here tonight, told me they are ready to increase their investment from
$20 billion to $100 billion.

That would be one of the biggest investments in manufacturing in American history.

And all they’re waiting for is for you to pass this bill.

So let’s not wait any longer. Send it to my desk. I’ll sign it.

And we will really take off.

And Intel is not alone.

There’s something happening in America.

Just look around and you’ll see an amazing story.

The rebirth of the pride that comes from stamping products “Made In America.” The revitalization of American manufacturing.

Companies are choosing to build new factories here, when just a few years ago, they would have built them overseas.

That’s what is happening. Ford is investing $11 billion to build electric vehicles, creating 11,000 jobs across the country.

GM is making the largest investment in its history—$7 billion to build electric vehicles, creating 4,000 jobs in Michigan.

All told, we created 369,000 new manufacturing jobs in America just last year.

Powered by people I’ve met like JoJo Burgess, from generations of union steelworkers from Pittsburgh, who’s here with us tonight.

As Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown says, “It’s time to bury the label “Rust Belt.”

It’s time.

But with all the bright spots in our economy, record job growth and higher wages, too many families are struggling to keep up with the bills.

Inflation is robbing them of the gains they might otherwise feel.

I get it. That’s why my top priority is getting prices under control.

Look, our economy roared back faster than most predicted, but the pandemic meant that businesses had a hard time hiring enough workers to keep up production in their factories.

The pandemic also disrupted global supply chains.

When factories close, it takes longer to make goods and get them from the warehouse to the store, and prices go up.

Look at cars.

Last year, there weren’t enough semiconductors to make all the cars that people wanted to buy.

And guess what, prices of automobiles went up.

So—we have a choice.

One way to fight inflation is to drive down wages and make Americans poorer.

I have a better plan to fight inflation.

Lower your costs, not your wages.

Make more cars and semiconductors in America.

More infrastructure and innovation in America.

More goods moving faster and cheaper in America.

More jobs where you can earn a good living in America.

And instead of relying on foreign supply chains, let’s make it in America.

Economists call it “increasing the productive capacity of our economy.”

I call it building a better America.

My plan to fight inflation will lower your costs and lower the deficit.

17 Nobel laureates in economics say my plan will ease long-term inflationary pressures. Top business leaders and most Americans support my plan. And here’s the plan:

First – cut the cost of prescription drugs. Just look at insulin. One in ten Americans has diabetes. In Virginia, I met a 13-year-old boy named Joshua Davis.

He and his Dad both have Type 1 diabetes, which means they need insulin every day. Insulin costs about $10 a vial to make.

But drug companies charge families like Joshua and his Dad up to 30 times more. I spoke with Joshua’s mom.

Imagine what it’s like to look at your child who needs insulin and have no idea how you’re going to pay for it.

What it does to your dignity, your ability to look your child in the eye, to be the parent you expect to be.

Joshua is here with us tonight. Yesterday was his birthday. Happy birthday, buddy.

For Joshua, and for the 200,000 other young people with Type 1 diabetes, let’s cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month so everyone can afford it.

Drug companies will still do very well. And while we’re at it let Medicare negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs, like the VA already does.

Look, the American Rescue Plan is helping millions of families on Affordable Care Act plans save $2,400 a year on their health care premiums. Let’s close the coverage gap and make those savings permanent.

Second – cut energy costs for families an average of $500 a year by combatting climate change.

Let’s provide investments and tax credits to weatherize your homes and businesses to be energy efficient and you get a tax credit; double America’s clean energy production in solar, wind, and so much more; lower the price of electric vehicles, saving you another $80 a month because you’ll never have to pay at the gas pump again.

Third – cut the cost of child care. Many families pay up to $14,000 a year for child care per child.

Middle-class and working families shouldn’t have to pay more than 7% of their income for care of young children.

My plan will cut the cost in half for most families and help parents, including millions of women, who left the workforce during the pandemic because they couldn’t afford child care, to be able to get back to work.

My plan doesn’t stop there. It also includes home and long-term care. More affordable housing. And Pre-K for every 3- and 4-year-old.

All of these will lower costs.

And under my plan, nobody earning less than $400,000 a year will pay an additional penny in new taxes. Nobody.

The one thing all Americans agree on is that the tax system is not fair. We have to fix it.

I’m not looking to punish anyone. But let’s make sure corporations and the wealthiest Americans start paying their fair share.

Just last year, 55 Fortune 500 corporations earned $40 billion in profits and paid zero dollars in federal income tax.

That’s simply not fair. That’s why I’ve proposed a 15% minimum tax rate for corporations.

We got more than 130 countries to agree on a global minimum tax rate so companies can’t get out of paying their taxes at home by shipping jobs and factories overseas.

That’s why I’ve proposed closing loopholes so the very wealthy don’t pay a lower tax rate than a teacher or a firefighter.

So that’s my plan. It will grow the economy and lower costs for families.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s get this done. And while you’re at it, confirm my nominees to the Federal Reserve, which plays a critical role in fighting inflation.

My plan will not only lower costs to give families a fair shot, it will lower the deficit.

The previous Administration not only ballooned the deficit with tax cuts for the very wealthy and corporations, it undermined the watchdogs whose job was to keep pandemic relief funds from being wasted.

But in my administration, the watchdogs have been welcomed back.

We’re going after the criminals who stole billions in relief money meant for small businesses and millions of Americans.

And tonight, I’m announcing that the Justice Department will name a chief prosecutor for pandemic fraud.

By the end of this year, the deficit will be down to less than half what it was before I took office.

The only president ever to cut the deficit by more than one trillion dollars in a single year.

Lowering your costs also means demanding more competition.

I’m a capitalist, but capitalism without competition isn’t capitalism.

It’s exploitation—and it drives up prices.

When corporations don’t have to compete, their profits go up, your prices go up, and small businesses and family farmers and ranchers go under.

We see it happening with ocean carriers moving goods in and out of America.

During the pandemic, these foreign-owned companies raised prices by as much as 1,000% and made record profits.

Tonight, I’m announcing a crackdown on these companies overcharging American businesses and consumers.

And as Wall Street firms take over more nursing homes, quality in those homes has gone down and costs have gone up.

That ends on my watch.

Medicare is going to set higher standards for nursing homes and make sure your loved ones get the care they deserve and expect.

We’ll also cut costs and keep the economy going strong by giving workers a fair shot, provide more training and apprenticeships, hire them based on their skills not degrees.

Let’s pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and paid leave.

Raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and extend the Child Tax Credit, so no one has to raise a family in poverty.

Let’s increase Pell Grants and increase our historic support of HBCUs, and invest in what Jill—our First Lady who teaches full-time—calls America’s best-kept secret: community colleges.

And let’s pass the PRO Act when a majority of workers want to form a union—they shouldn’t be stopped.

When we invest in our workers, when we build the economy from the bottom up and the middle out together, we can do something we haven’t done in a long time: build a better America.

For more than two years, COVID-19 has impacted every decision in our lives and the life of the nation.

And I know you’re tired, frustrated, and exhausted.

But I also know this.

Because of the progress we’ve made, because of your resilience and the tools we have, tonight I can say
we are moving forward safely, back to more normal routines.

We’ve reached a new moment in the fight against COVID-19, with severe cases down to a level not seen since last July.

Just a few days ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—the CDC—issued new mask guidelines.

Under these new guidelines, most Americans in most of the country can now be mask free.

And based on the projections, more of the country will reach that point across the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to the progress we have made this past year, COVID-19 need no longer control our lives.

I know some are talking about “living with COVID-19”. Tonight – I say that we will never just accept living with COVID-19.

We will continue to combat the virus as we do other diseases. And because this is a virus that mutates and spreads, we will stay on guard.

Here are four common sense steps as we move forward safely.

First, stay protected with vaccines and treatments. We know how incredibly effective vaccines are. If you’re vaccinated and boosted you have the highest degree of protection.

We will never give up on vaccinating more Americans. Now, I know parents with kids under 5 are eager to see a vaccine authorized for their children.

The scientists are working hard to get that done and we’ll be ready with plenty of vaccines when they do.

We’re also ready with anti-viral treatments. If you get COVID-19, the Pfizer pill reduces your chances of ending up in the hospital by 90%.

We’ve ordered more of these pills than anyone in the world. And Pfizer is working overtime to get us 1 Million pills this month and more than double that next month.

And we’re launching the “Test to Treat” initiative so people can get tested at a pharmacy, and if they’re positive, receive antiviral pills on the spot at no cost.

If you’re immunocompromised or have some other vulnerability, we have treatments and free high-quality masks.

We’re leaving no one behind or ignoring anyone’s needs as we move forward.

And on testing, we have made hundreds of millions of tests available for you to order for free.

Even if you already ordered free tests tonight, I am announcing that you can order more from covidtests.gov starting next week.

Second – we must prepare for new variants. Over the past year, we’ve gotten much better at detecting new variants.

If necessary, we’ll be able to deploy new vaccines within 100 days instead of many more months or years.

And, if Congress provides the funds we need, we’ll have new stockpiles of tests, masks, and pills ready if needed.

I cannot promise a new variant won’t come. But I can promise you we’ll do everything within our power to be ready if it does.

Third – we can end the shutdown of schools and businesses. We have the tools we need.

It’s time for Americans to get back to work and fill our great downtowns again. People working from home can feel safe to begin to return to the office.

We’re doing that here in the federal government. The vast majority of federal workers will once again work in person.

Our schools are open. Let’s keep it that way. Our kids need to be in school.

And with 75% of adult Americans fully vaccinated and hospitalizations down by 77%, most Americans can remove their masks, return to work, stay in the classroom, and move forward safely.

We achieved this because we provided free vaccines, treatments, tests, and masks.

Of course, continuing this costs money.

I will soon send Congress a request.

The vast majority of Americans have used these tools and may want to again, so I expect Congress to pass it quickly.

Fourth, we will continue vaccinating the world.

We’ve sent 475 Million vaccine doses to 112 countries, more than any other nation.

And we won’t stop.

We have lost so much to COVID-19. Time with one another. And worst of all, so much loss of life.

Let’s use this moment to reset. Let’s stop looking at COVID-19 as a partisan dividing line and see it for what it is: A God-awful disease.

Let’s stop seeing each other as enemies, and start seeing each other for who we really are: Fellow Americans.

We can’t change how divided we’ve been. But we can change how we move forward—on COVID-19 and other issues we must face together.

I recently visited the New York City Police Department days after the funerals of Officer Wilbert Mora and his partner, Officer Jason Rivera.

They were responding to a 9-1-1 call when a man shot and killed them with a stolen gun.

Officer Mora was 27 years old.

Officer Rivera was 22.

Both Dominican Americans who’d grown up on the same streets they later chose to patrol as police officers.

I spoke with their families and told them that we are forever in debt for their sacrifice, and we will carry on their mission to restore the trust and safety every community deserves.

I’ve worked on these issues a long time.

I know what works: Investing in crime preventionand community police officers who’ll walk the beat, who’ll know the neighborhood, and who can restore trust and safety.

So let’s not abandon our streets. Or choose between safety and equal justice.

Let’s come together to protect our communities, restore trust, and hold law enforcement accountable.

That’s why the Justice Department required body cameras, banned chokeholds, and restricted no-knock warrants for its officers.

That’s why the American Rescue Plan provided $350 Billion that cities, states, and counties can use to hire more police and invest in proven strategies like community violence interruption—trusted messengers breaking the cycle of violence and trauma and giving young people hope.

We should all agree: The answer is not to Defund the police. The answer is to FUND the police with the resources and training they need to protect our communities.

I ask Democrats and Republicans alike: Pass my budget and keep our neighborhoods safe.

And I will keep doing everything in my power to crack down on gun trafficking and ghost guns you can buy online and make at home—they have no serial numbers and can’t be traced.

And I ask Congress to pass proven measures to reduce gun violence. Pass universal background checks. Why should anyone on a terrorist list be able to purchase a weapon?

Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

Repeal the liability shield that makes gun manufacturers the only industry in America that can’t be sued.

These laws don’t infringe on the Second Amendment. They save lives.

The most fundamental right in America is the right to vote – and to have it counted. And it’s under assault.

In state after state, new laws have been passed, not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert entire elections.

We cannot let this happen.

Tonight. I call on the Senate to: Pass the Freedom to Vote Act. Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. And while you’re at it, pass the Disclose Act so Americans can know who is funding our elections.

Tonight, I’d like to honor someone who has dedicated his life to serve this country: Justice Stephen Breyer—an Army veteran, Constitutional scholar, and retiring Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Justice Breyer, thank you for your service.

One of the most serious constitutional responsibilities a President has is nominating someone to serve on the United States Supreme Court.

And I did that 4 days ago, when I nominated Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. One of our nation’s top legal minds, who will continue Justice Breyer’s legacy of excellence.

A former top litigator in private practice. A former federal public defender. And from a family of public school educators and police officers. A consensus builder. Since she’s been nominated, she’s received a broad range of support—from the Fraternal Order of Police to former judges appointed by Democrats and Republicans.

And if we are to advance liberty and justice, we need to secure the Border and fix the immigration system.

We can do both. At our border, we’ve installed new technology like cutting-edge scanners to better detect drug smuggling.

We’ve set up joint patrols with Mexico and Guatemala to catch more human traffickers.

We’re putting in place dedicated immigration judges so families fleeing persecution and violence can have their cases heard faster.

We’re securing commitments and supporting partners in South and Central America to host more refugees and secure their own borders.

We can do all this while keeping lit the torch of liberty that has led generations of immigrants to this land—my forefathers and so many of yours.

Provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, those on temporary status, farm workers, and essential workers.

Revise our laws so businesses have the workers they need and families don’t wait decades to reunite.

It’s not only the right thing to do—it’s the economically smart thing to do.

That’s why immigration reform is supported by everyone from labor unions to religious leaders to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Let’s get it done once and for all.

Advancing liberty and justice also requires protecting the rights of women.

The constitutional right affirmed in Roe v. Wade—standing precedent for half a century—is under attack as never before.

If we want to go forward—not backward—we must protect access to health care. Preserve a woman’s right to choose. And let’s continue to advance maternal health care in America.

And for our LGBTQ+ Americans, let’s finally get the bipartisan Equality Act to my desk. The onslaught of state laws targeting transgender Americans and their families is wrong.

As I said last year, especially to our younger transgender Americans, I will always have your back as your President, so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential.

While it often appears that we never agree, that isn’t true. I signed 80 bipartisan bills into law last year. From preventing government shutdowns to protecting Asian-Americans from still-too-common hate crimes to reforming military justice.

And soon, we’ll strengthen the Violence Against Women Act that I first wrote three decades ago. It is important for us to show the nation that we can come together and do big things.

So tonight I’m offering a Unity Agenda for the Nation. Four big things we can do together.

First, beat the opioid epidemic.

There is so much we can do. Increase funding for prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery.

Get rid of outdated rules that stop doctors from prescribing treatments. And stop the flow of illicit drugs by working with state and local law enforcement to go after traffickers.

If you’re suffering from addiction, know you are not alone. I believe in recovery, and I celebrate the 23 million Americans in recovery.

Second, let’s take on mental health. Especially among our children, whose lives and education have been turned upside down.

The American Rescue Plan gave schools money to hire teachers and help students make up for lost learning.

I urge every parent to make sure your school does just that. And we can all play a part—sign up to be a tutor or a mentor.

Children were also struggling before the pandemic. Bullying, violence, trauma, and the harms of social media.

As Frances Haugen, who is here with us tonight, has shown, we must hold social media platforms accountable for the national experiment they’re conducting on our children for profit.

It’s time to strengthen privacy protections, ban targeted advertising to children, demand tech companies stop collecting personal data on our children.

And let’s get all Americans the mental health services they need. More people they can turn to for help, and full parity between physical and mental health care.

Third, support our veterans.

Veterans are the best of us.

I’ve always believed that we have a sacred obligation to equip all those we send to war and care for them and their families when they come home.

My administration is providing assistance with job training and housing, and now helping lower-income veterans get VA care debt-free.

Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan faced many dangers.

One was stationed at bases and breathing in toxic smoke from “burn pits” that incinerated wastes of war—medical and hazard material, jet fuel, and more.

When they came home, many of the world’s fittest and best trained warriors were never the same.

Headaches. Numbness. Dizziness.

A cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin.

I know.

One of those soldiers was my son Major Beau Biden.

We don’t know for sure if a burn pit was the cause of his brain cancer, or the diseases of so many of our troops.

But I’m committed to finding out everything we can.

Committed to military families like Danielle Robinson from Ohio.

The widow of Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson.

He was born a soldier. Army National Guard. Combat medic in Kosovo and Iraq.

Stationed near Baghdad, just yards from burn pits the size of football fields.

Heath’s widow Danielle is here with us tonight. They loved going to Ohio State football games. He loved building Legos with their daughter.

But cancer from prolonged exposure to burn pits ravaged Heath’s lungs and body.

Danielle says Heath was a fighter to the very end.

He didn’t know how to stop fighting, and neither did she.

Through her pain she found purpose to demand we do better.

Tonight, Danielle—we are.

The VA is pioneering new ways of linking toxic exposures to diseases, already helping more veterans get benefits.

And tonight, I’m announcing we’re expanding eligibility to veterans suffering from nine respiratory cancers.

I’m also calling on Congress: pass a law to make sure veterans devastated by toxic exposures in Iraq and Afghanistan finally get the benefits and comprehensive health care they deserve.

And fourth, let’s end cancer as we know it.

This is personal to me and Jill, to Kamala, and to so many of you.

Cancer is the #2 cause of death in America–second only to heart disease.

Last month, I announced our plan to supercharge
the Cancer Moonshot that President Obama asked me to lead six years ago.

Our goal is to cut the cancer death rate by at least 50% over the next 25 years, turn more cancers from death sentences into treatable diseases.

More support for patients and families.

To get there, I call on Congress to fund ARPA-H, the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health.

It’s based on DARPA—the Defense Department project that led to the Internet, GPS, and so much more.

ARPA-H will have a singular purpose—to drive breakthroughs in cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and more.

A unity agenda for the nation.

We can do this.

My fellow Americans—tonight , we have gathered in a sacred space—the citadel of our democracy.

In this Capitol, generation after generation, Americans have debated great questions amid great strife, and have done great things.

We have fought for freedom, expanded liberty, defeated totalitarianism and terror.

And built the strongest, freest, and most prosperous nation the world has ever known.

Now is the hour.

Our moment of responsibility.

Our test of resolve and conscience, of history itself.

It is in this moment that our character is formed. Our purpose is found. Our future is forged.

Well I know this nation.

We will meet the test.

To protect freedom and liberty, to expand fairness and opportunity.

We will save democracy.

As hard as these times have been, I am more optimistic about America today than I have been my whole life.

Because I see the future that is within our grasp.

Because I know there is simply nothing beyond our capacity.

We are the only nation on Earth that has always turned every crisis we have faced into an opportunity.

The only nation that can be defined by a single word: possibilities.

So on this night, in our 245th year as a nation, I have come to report on the State of the Union.

And my report is this: the State of the Union is strong—because you, the American people, are strong.

We are stronger today than we were a year ago.

And we will be stronger a year from now than we are today.

Now is our moment to meet and overcome the challenges of our time.

And we will, as one people.

One America.

The United States of America.

May God bless you all. May God protect our troops.

"Jackson then quoted Nikole-Jones verbatim:

We are raised to think about 1776 as the beginning of our democracy. But when that ship arrived on the horizon … in 1619[, the] decision made by the colonists to purchase that group of 20 to 30 human beings — that was a beginning, too.

And it would actually be those very people who were denied citizenship in their own country, who were denied the protections of our founding documents, who would fight the hardest and most successfully to make those ideals real, not just for themselves, but for all Americans."
